and those are just from the top of my head
these guys are so clingy for each other and they are not ashamed about it!! they embrace codependency and i love them for that!! dteam’s friendship is so rare and special and they know that and they cherish each other so much that theyre willing to drop irrelevant people for each other and follow each other across the globe and invest in their individual interests bc they unapologetically love each other more than anyone else. they’re a package deal and they themselves have said it.

Jacob wants to go to prom. Quil and Embry make it their mission to have him attend.
Some background: Soooo this is an alternate version of a snippet from a future chapter of my fic Fragile (on FFN | AO3). This is written in Quil’s voice. Bailey is an OC that Quil shamelessly flirts with. Just think of her, Embry, Jake and Quil as the Three (Four?) Musketeers. The Boys are in their senior year of high school.
It’s cute, so I thought I’d share it for the holidays. Enjoy!!
Warnings: None
2k+ words
It all started with Jacob's little fan club– Collin, Brady and Seth, who hung on his every word like he was a god. The pups' new topic of obsession shifted from hero worship to prom– specifically, how they were planning on crashing the party to see all the junior and senior girls in their dresses.
Quil loved the idea. He, Jacob and Embry did it their freshman year. It was basically a right of passage. Quil even asked a senior to prom that year, despite how much Jacob and Embry mocked him for it. He got turned down, but they still crashed anyway. They all managed to down two cups each of spiked punch and steal snacks before they ran out of there.
Best. Night. Ever.
The pups reminded Jacob of that night too, and then he remembered he wouldn't be able to attend his senior prom like a regular teenager. He immediately squashed that thought as soon as it popped up. Cue more doom and gloom. He was always so pessimistic these days, but that's how the plan was born.
Jacob is going to prom goddammit, and they were going to have the best time so he could just shut up already. Two birds, one stone. Easy peasy.
They just have to convince Bailey to go, and therein lies the trouble. She hates dressing up.
Quil brings Embry with him to bargain with Bailey as soon as she gets off work. As they wait for her in the parking lot, Quil rehearses his lines in his head. He has to get everything just right or the plan will fall apart.
Quil perks up when the back door opens. He watches Bailey sling a backpack over her shoulder and unbutton the white chef jacket she's wearing.
Jesus, she really is gorgeous. He always thought Leah was the hottest girl on the rez, but Bailey is a close second.
They're strictly friends. The best of friends… but he can't help but ogle sometimes. He's only human. Kinda. But in another life, Quil…
Her mustang, an honestly beautiful piece of machinery, beeps as the doors unlock. Bailey stops in front of them with a grin on her face. "What’s up?" she asks.
Quil glances at Embry, who gives him a subtle nod. "So… uh, what's your take on prom?"
Bailey's eyes narrow. "Prom?" The confusion is plain in her tone.
"Prom," Embry repeats. "Our prom. Would you wanna maybe… come?"
Her eyes dart between the two of them as she opens the driver's door and tosses her bag on the seat. "No. I'm too old for prom," she says slowly.
She folds her arms on the roof and rests her chin there, looking suspiciously at them on the other side of the car.
"You're only a year older than us!" Quil argues. "C'mon, it's the one high school thing we get to do before our senior year ends. We all switched our patrol shifts around for it. Even the werewolves have to go to prom."
She purses her lips. "Why do you want me to go?"
"...To make everyone jealous that I have a really hot best friend?"
Bailey blushes. "Quil," she growls. Or tries to. It's a cute attempt.
"We already pooled our money to get the corsage," Quil complains. He elbows the ever silent Embry. "Back me up, man!"
Embry grimaces. "It's true."
And it is true. Quil used some of his measly money he made from whenever he helped out in his grandpa's souvenir shop, and Embry pitched in with some money he acquired after selling a dune buggy he restored a few weeks back.
The corsage was sitting in Quil's fridge to keep it fresh. It's a peony, just like the ones tattooed on her arm. He was dedicated to the details, man.
"Did you just assume I was gonna say yes," Bailey says in a flat voice. Uh-oh. Danger zone. Must deploy new tactics.
Quil serves her with his best puppy dog eyes. "Well, aren't you?" he asks sweetly. Lay it on thick, Quil. They need this to happen.
Bailey's sigh could've won an Olympic medal because of how long it was. "You two are just... Ugh,” she groans. “When is it?”
"Tonight at 7:30," Quil squeaks.
Her hands slam against the roof of the car. "That's way too short notice," she hisses at him.
Is four hours short notice for girls? Quil panics.
"Come onnnnn," he whines. "It'll be fun. I can take you on Embry's dirtbike!"
"How are you just gonna volunteer my bike, dude?" Embry mumbles.
Quil shoots his unhelpful friend a glare. "See? Even Embry wants you to go!" he insists.
"Jacob wants go really bad," Embry blurts out. And thank God. Quil was struggling to work all this magic by himself.
Quil eagerly nods. "It was his idea!" He fidgets. "Well, it was more like a passing thought. And we kinda acted on it.”
Bailey frowns. "He doesn't know?"
"Oh, c'mon. He keeps whining about how he doesn't get to do normal teenager things so we just wanted to shut him up for a night," Quil explains.
Bailey frowns at that. He knows Sad Jacob is her weakness.
"It's supposed to be a surprise for him," Embry adds, and it's the cherry on top they need.
Bailey twists her lips. "...Fine," she mutters.
Quil perks up, already hurrying to get away and yanking Embry with him. They have to leave before she changes her mind. "I'll pick you up at seven!" he yells in a rush.
They put in their three hours of patrol, covering Jared and Leah's usual shift, and part ways to get dressed. Quil doesn't have anything fancy. A few days ago he and Embry stopped by a thrift shop to pick up a pair of dress pants, a white button down, and a tie. He had no idea how the knot works.
He meets Embry in Jacob's yard, who's wearing black chucks just like him. Great minds think alike. But Embry's tie is slung over his shoulder.
"You don't know how to tie a tie?" Quil demands.
"No, I thought you did!" Embry retorts.
Quil groans. They do not have time for this.
He saunters over to Jacob's bedroom window and peers inside. The absolute giant is sprawled in his bed, feet and arms hanging off the edge, snoring like a hacksaw. He looks peaceful.
But his eyes shoot open in panic when Quil repeatedly slams his hands against the glass. Sucks to suck.
"Shower and get dressed, Jakey-boy," Quil yells. "We're going to prom tonight!"
Tumblr media
Quil picks up Bailey on Embry's dirtbike, as promised. He forces her to put on the helmet no matter how much she complains about it ruining her hair. The ride is only fifteen minutes, and he grins as Bailey hollers the entire time as she clings to his back. He slows to stop in the parking lot and carefully lifts Bailey off the bike.
She's buzzing with energy, practically dancing in front of him as he helps her get the helmet off. "Quil, hurry," she complains.
She clearly spotted Embry and Jacob standing near the entrance. He rolls his eyes and quickly undoes the straps under her chin. He carefully pulls the helmet off her head, and she smooths her hands over any flyaways.
"Do I look okay?" she asks, tugging at her dress uncertainly.
Quil snorts. "When do you not?"
Bailey scoffs and smacks his arm playfully. She steps around him with a huge grin on her face and runs toward his other two best friends with a giggle. And he stares after her in that shimmery dress with a quiet sigh. He shuts his eyes and listens to the quick click-clack of her heels against the pavement.
Another life, Quil. In another freaking life…
"You guys look so good!" Bailey yells, skidding to a stop in front of Embry and Jacob. "And you guys don't know how to knot a tie either!"
Embry laughs as she claims him as her next victim, having already fixed Quil’s tie, and she pulls his tie off to knot it properly.
"I’ve only used clip-on ties," Embry says.
Bailey snorts and moves on to Jacob. "Are you surprised?" she asks.
Shell-shocked might be the more accurate description.
"Yeah," Jacob breathes, glancing between all of them like an idiot.
She pats Jacob's shoulder with a happy trill and steps back. "Can I take a picture of you guys?"
“Before that…” Quil pulls the plastic case holding the corsage out of his pocket and gets on one knee. "M'lady?"
Bailey gasps, her eyes glittering. "It's so pretty," she whispers as he slides it on her wrist.
Damn right it is. Quil is a man of refined tastes.
"Can I take the picture now?" she asks, pulling a tiny camera out of her equally tiny purse.
Quil squashes Jacob between himself and Embry as they pose for the camera. She runs in front of them for a quick selfie and finally allows Quil to grab her arm, pulling her through the front door.
All her happy energy goes right out the window when they step inside the decked out gymnasium. Their classmates gawk at her, mostly because she stands out in that sparkly dress.
It might also be because the tribal school is so small and everybody knows literally everybody in their classes; they’ve never seen her before. She’s obviously not a student.
And maybe standing next to three hulking boys who notoriously disappear in the middle of class isn't helpful for being inconspicuous either. She sticks close to them for comfort and fidgets where she stands.
Embry clears his throat. "Can I have the first dance?" he asks, holding his hand out to Bailey.
Bless you, you sweet angel, Quil thinks.
Bailey tentatively takes his hand. "Yeah," she replies. She holds her purse out to Quil. "Can you hang on to that?"
He takes it with a nod and watches Embry whisk her away. To his surprise, Embry spins Bailey around on the dancefloor like a real ballroom dancer. Like, Cinderella and Prince Charming level dancing.
A waltz. To Hollaback Girl.
Quil gapes at the show. "What the hell, Embry?" he mutters.
"His mom made him take dance classes a couple years back, remember?" Jacob reminds him.
Ah, yes. The ballroom dancer Embry days. His mother, already obsessed with soap operas, was also a hopeless romantic. She watched Dirty Dancing a thousand times a year, and made Embry take ballroom lessons the summer after their sophomore year when Dirty Dancing 2 premiered earlier that spring. It was an awful sequel.
Embry actually stuck to it for the rest of the year and promptly gave up on it entirely as part of his New Year's resolution to stop giving in to his mom's whimsical requests. But obviously something still stuck with him. The boy could dance like he'd been training his entire life.
He lifts Bailey into the air like a goddamn professional, and even from where Quil’s standing he can hear her squeal in delight.
Quil fishes out Bailey's camera from her purse and snaps a photo. Mrs. Call was going to love this. This would fuel her fantasies of Embry finally finding a girlfriend and putting those dance lessons to good use. It would be hilarious.
Embry circles back to them in the nick of time. Bailey looks excited and flushed in the cheeks. She's buzzing with that same happy energy again, and her eyes sparkle.
"Did you see that?" she asks excitedly. "Embry can dance so well!"
It's Embry's turn to blush. "Wasn't anything special," he mumbles.
Bailey gasps in outrage. "It was so!" she insists, hugging him tight.
Quil plays purse hot potato, tossing the tiny thing to Jacob, and swoops Bailey into his grip.
“Hey! I wanted next!” Jacob complains.
Quil pretends he can’t hear him.
"My crush from Geometry is over there! Let's dance and see if we can make her jealous," Quil yells. He pulls Bailey back onto the floor and glances over his shoulder at Jacob with a smirk. “I guess you can come with.”
Finally– finally, Jacob lets that huge grin of his spread on his face as he tosses the tiny purse to Embry. Quil mentally pats himself on the back. He definitely deserves an award for this.

yo can i get a barista reddie hc? idk if u take requests like that but either way ty babe
yo yes tf you can bc i’m here for it
-okay i’ve always had this painfully beautiful idea where reddie is Grown and they’re living in NYC or the art district of Colorado or some cool hipster shit like that and eddie’s a barista. but not at like Starbucks or anything like that no it’s some tiny hole in the wall place that conveniently happens to be right across the street from a tiny vinyl store.
-so richie’s worked at the vinyl shop (obviously) for like 2 years and he’s a customer favorite and really he would be there all day even if he didn’t work there because he just loves the environment so much.
-eddie just started working at the little coffee place and it’s not super popular yet but it’s cute and teenage girls love to take pictures of themselves in cute coffee shops no one’s ever heard of (myself included don’t judge).
-richie’s not a super big fan of coffee because his ADHD has him wired all the time anyway but there’s this one day that he’s walking to work and he goes around the corner and completely collides with this boy who’s holding like three cups of hot coffee. the boy is shouting apologies as he runs past him, obviously late for something.
-that same day, after he’s long since changed into a cleaner shirt, some of his co-workers invite him along to the new coffee place across the street. he tags along bc my boy’s got some FOMO and who does he see manning the cappuccino machine? the small boy who spilled coffee on him earlier, that’s who
-and richie thinks “i hate that fucker for ruining my favorite shirt but also he’s kinda cute” so he goes up and orders whatever his co-worker, stan orders
-eddie blushes bRIGHT red when he sees who it is and begins to apologize again for earlier that day and richie’s like “Nah it’s okay let’s just see if you can make coffee as well as you can spill it all over people”
-and eddie makes the best damn cup of coffee richie’s ever had. he even puts a little fancy design in the foam. when richie and his friends are done with their drinks, richie picks up his receipt and goes to throw it away but thick, black writing catches his eye
-”sorry for spilling coffee on you…i get off work at 7, let me make it up to you?” with his name in a fancy font and his number a the bottom. richie turns towards the counter and makes sure eddie watches as he pockets the receipt and sends him a wink
i’m dead, this is it i’m actually dead someone turn this into a fic for me bc i’m bad at writing x
