I wasn't exactly on team "Anakin Would've Been a Great Dad in a Happy Fix-it AU" before or anything, but I could KIND-OF be convinced via his relationship with Ahsoka that even if he wasn't anticipating being a father and was sort-of not happy about it to some degree, that he might ultimately come around to the idea and be genuinely into being a parent. Because within TCW, that is, for the most part, exactly what happens. He's not always the BEST teacher for Ahsoka and he obviously ultimately entirely betrays her, leaves her for dead, and then actively tries to kill her down the line, but before ROTS he seems... mostly positive and active within that relationship.
But then along came TOTJ.
And all of that goes away.
Because now we have to add in that Anakin actively ABUSES Ahsoka with this horrific and useless training exercise to that relationship. Now we have to take into account that Anakin doesn't even do anything to actively help train her, he brings in the clones to work with Ahsoka FOR HIM, his active involvement in it seems to get less and less as she continues. Now we have to take into account that Anakin can't even be assed to show up on time to an assessment of hers, even though Obi-Wan, Yoda, Mace, Plo, and Depa are all there, among other members of the Council. And even once he IS there, he refuses to even praise Ahsoka for how well she's done in the assessment simply because he dislikes the assessment and refuses to apologize for having been late to something that was clearly important to Ahsoka.
And whoa does that bring SO MUCH of their relationship in TCW into question. Granted, this is set prior to the Phase 2 animation shift, so probably only about a third to halfway through her apprenticeship given that it really only lasts about a year and a half. So there's still things like Mortis and Padawan Lost and the Citadel arc to happen, which do seem to have an impact on Anakin's willingness to trust Ahsoka.
But this is still now a MAJOR aspect to their relationship that changes EVERYTHING for me. A relationship I could kind-of write off as generally positive right up until it isn't is now entirely toxic and tainted, equally as much as Padme's relationship with him. We never see Ahsoka state that she's afraid of Anakin, so perhaps slightly less toxic, but... not by much.
And this changes everything for me about how much I am willing to accept a future happy fix-it AU where Anakin ends up a GOOD father to the twins, the twins who blow up his life, who would force him into a choice between Padme or the Jedi, who would take so much of Padme's attention away from him, who would be SO needy SO much of the time. How often would he actually praise Luke and Leia for doing well at things? How often would he show up late to important events like birthday parties or any sort of education event or extracurricular event? How often would he hand off responsibility of the twins when he's supposed to be watching them to R2 and/or C3PO, or another member of Padme's family? At what point does he start hurting them to try to strengthen them up so they aren't weak, how young are they before he decides they're ready for that? And would he keep that a secret from Padme, or does Padme let him get away with doing it to them?
And worst of all, how does this impact the people Luke and Leia turn out to be later on?

Why do we have to slog through 50 layers of heavily applied references in every current Star Wars show?
Because it's a smokescreen trying to make us dismiss the ones which point out the actual underlying story. Which is the exact same story we already know only from a slightly different angle and using clones and technology instead of Jedi since, you know, that's not really an option anymore
The story of a child living on a backwater planet who lives solely with their mother, a child who has an amazing talent for machinery and builds their own droid(s), who gets to run off with a bunch of men (their new 'family') for a far more exciting life which ultimately leads to devastation after they made some really bad life choices because they don't want to accept death as a factor of life
Tumblr media
And yeah, I do realise how basically stripped down that description is
First we meet the small child, then we meet them again when they're older and getting all trained up (even if it is done as more of a Dooku/Ventress thing second time around)
Tumblr media
And then they hit their final stage where they never ever take their helmet off until the very end of things, and neither of them are using their own speaking voice
Tumblr media
Cue the supposed 'shock' ending and a bunch of Disney execs patting themselves on the back for no one seeing it coming
-
Each OG role has been divided up between 2-3 current characters so Omega can help Mommy out by building a cyborg to mimic Anakin building C3PO but she hasn't had the opportunity or ability to do the equivalent of killing the Jedi in the temple, that part was farmed out to someone else regardless of whether they stated it on that specific show yet. It already happened and we saw it previously
Tech can stand in for Obi-Wan disliking her flying style, teaching her the skills she'll need to survive and dealing with her on an emotional level (with the assistance of the rest of the 'family' like the Jedi would have supported Anakin), but the big Anakin vs Obi-Wan fight at the end of season 1 was acted out by Hunter and Crosshair instead and since Echo already lost the appropriate number of limbs which that fight claimed before becoming a cyborg there was no need to repeat it
-
Unfortunately they've spent so much time on cramming in the surface level references into all of these shows, bending existing characters into shapes that don't fit them (*cough* Ahsoka show *cough*), obscuring the details and dropping any inconvenient parts of former canon they don't like that it's all become a little bit overblown and boring.
The makers of Star Wars just can't get past the Anakin Skywalker story no matter how big the SWU is or how many far more interesting tales there are to tell in it. How many promising looking shows have been cancelled or lost to development hell to focus on this instead?
Just last year Dave Filoni claimed that Anakin was the best Jedi ever (or something like that) and we all laughed at him for it. So why did he claim it in the first place? Who was he trying to convince? Are we just supposed to watch these shows and decide that Disney are doing it better than Lucas ever could? Just what is the point here?
Apart from money, obviously

The force as part of all living beings always has been part of Star Wars canon
About the discourse with Sabine and Ahsoka and Ahsoka supposely breaking previous canon by training Sabine, I believe it´s best to look at the facts of the previous trilogies first to get a balanced view about this.
Tumblr media
The force always has been part of every living being since the original trilogy, Yoda and Obi-Wan talk about it as a force field that keeps united all living beings in the galaxy, that helps them see the past or the future, how to avoid trouble and how to connect with all living beings around the people using it, this is the original description of what the force is and this didn´t change in the series, Ahsoka is just recognizing this fact to train Sabine in the Jedi arts.
Tumblr media
The level of force sensitivity is the thing at question here, not the force itself, on the battle over the first death star all rebel pilots had the force because all of them were living beings but Luke was stronger in the force than the other pilots and so Vader could detect this, he didn´t say "He is force sensitive" or "He has the force" , he said "The force is STRONG in this one".
Tumblr media
Sabine as a living being with mandalorian training can perfectly learn and practice the Jedi arts even if the intensity of the force in her isn´t as strong as Jedi trained by the Jedi Order, like Kanan, Ahsoka, Anakin or Obi-Wan, she still can learn and become someone like Chirrut Iwe from Rogue One, who certainly was using the force in his daily life and practiced his martial arts trusting it to protect him.
Tumblr media
In fact I could go as far as saying that most of the Rogue One crew, Jyn Erso, Andor, Baze, Chirrut, despite not being jedi or strong in the force, still trusted it to help them steal the death star plans and the only one in the Empire who noticed was Vader, hence his comment about the force being stronger than the Death Star. It doesn´t need to be obvious or impressive, it just needs to allow certain events to happen at the right time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The force always had faith elements to it since the original trilogy and even not strong force sensitives can use it sometimes. Vader knows this for a fact because as a child he knew exactly what to do to protect himself or win the podraces his owner keep putting him expecting him to die at any moment. This is the force acting despite no training and that´s how it acts in most beings.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even the strongest force sensitives by sheer potential in the series: Anakin, Palpatine, Yoda, Luke and Leia needed traning to truly access that level of conection and control over the force because they may have been the beings with the most potential but this didn´t mean they didn´t need to learn discipline and method to develop their potential.
Tumblr media
Ahsoka and Luke are another example, Luke definitely has more force potential than Ahsoka, as Anakin´s Son "the force is STRONG in my family" , most of it already developed but Ahsoka knows way more about the force(at least at the time the Ahsoka series is happening) than Luke does, for her sheer training and experience.
Tumblr media
So what Ahsoka is doing is traning in the Jedi ways someone who would not have been called or accepted at the temple but who nonetheless can learn to practice the force to help her in battle like Chirrut did or to get a stronger connection with all force sensitives around her and thats not wrong at all, neither does it contradicts any previous trilogy or canon.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also, at this point, Ahsoka isn´t acting on behalf of the Jedi Order, in fact she still has conflicts over it, hence why she has not tried to help Luke more in the rebuilding of the school and my guess is because she´s trying to develop a variant of what the Order believed just involving people with different levels of potential while Luke is trying to rebuilt the school in the classical training of the old Jedi Order, at least in current canon, we don´t know if he will keep that path.
They could either go their own two ways or get to an agreetment over how best to rebuilt the Order but only time can tell and both have reason to want to make this slighty different to the way the old Order managed their training even if they really want to keep the traditions.

More Ideas for TCW Modern AU
No war no drama just a wholesome family sitcom
There is DEFINITELY a roadtrip at some point. Ideally all the clones are shoved into one van and have invited Anakin and Ahsoka and maybe Obi-Wan and Plo to join them
There's a plot point about Korkie getting his driver's license, or Anakin losing his, or both
Ahsoka runs for student council against Lux Bonteri
Yoda teaches the neighborhood kids martial arts and the clones get an "I'll Make a Man Out of You" style training montage
They try to throw a surprise birthday party for Satine but inevitably bungle it somehow
Satine, Padme and Ahsoka have a spa day and Anakin gets arrested
Korkie plays matchmaker
Anakin definitely has a car in the garage that he's working on but has to go to ridiculous lengths to get parts for
Lux, Ahsoka, Korkie, and Barriss all get assigned to the same group for a school project
Fives brings home an espresso machine and all the clones are vibrating at the speed of sound within two days. Cody and Rex have to lock it in the attic and eventually defend it like the last two survivors in a zombie apocalypse movie. Fives sees that it has gone too far and sells it on ebay
Bo-Katan is Korkie's Cool Aunt who lets him do things Satine would not approve of. She occasionally shows up for a couple days with no notice and weirdly prescient gifts for her nephew, crashes on the couch for a night, and then disappears the next morning.
Obi-Wan stress bakes
Obi-Wan and Satine decide to take a week-long vacation to celebrate their anniversary, leaving Anakin in charge. This proves to be a Bad Idea and Plo has to save the day
Lux, Ahsoka, Korkie, Anakin and Barriss go ghost hunting in the abandoned house down the street (all the spooky stuff is just Yoda messing with them)
Rex is constantly looking for excuses to stay over for dinner because both Satine and Obi-Wan are excellent cooks. most of his brothers are... less so.
There's a running gag about Yoda's garden being attacked by demon rabbits that can chew through chicken wire. It's heavily implied that the clones are behind this so that Plo can be the Best Gardener In The Neighborhood, but the bunnies are actually just Like That
Obi-Wan has one of those four-person chessboards that he pulls out on family game nights when Anakin isn't home. Satine is the reigning champion.
Barriss sleeps over and Ahsoka begs everyone to be normal but the fire deparment ends up having to get involved
The clones never discuss it but there's a jar in the background stuffed with coins and bills labeled 'dirt bike fund'
There's a community talent show for some reason. Korkie spends the entire episode doing unrelated and increasingly bizarre things. When anyone asks him about it he says he's preparing for his act. Quinlan keeps trying to get Obi-Wan to do a sword-fighting demonstration with him. The only performance we see in full is Fives's theatrical rendition of "oh where is my hairbrush". All we know about Korkie's act is that he leaves the stage to thunderous applause and Satine and Obi-Wan are in the audience holding hands and shedding tears of pride and joy.
So much potential for holiday episodes
Grandpa Dooku turns up unannounced for thanksgiving dinner (extra tension provided by the fact the Obi-Wan is clearly the favorite grandchild)
Ahsoka, Korkie and Lux try to catch a halloween vandal that turns out to be Barriss
4th of July shenanigans (with fireworks)
Valentine's Day episode where Anakin is consistently foiled in attempts to slip away to see Padme by Ahsoka looking for boy advice because Bariss thinks Lux has a crush on her. Subplot with Obi-Wan and Satine trying to have their first romantic dinner date in like three years but things KEEP COMING UP.
Sentimental Father's Day episode where Anakin and Obi-Wan remember Qui-Gon, and Ahsoka and Korkie attempt to find the PERFECT gifts for Plo and Obi-Wan, respectively (Ahsoka has already found her gift for Obi-Wan, it's that one card that says "what is a dad? you. you is a dad." she knows he'll secretly treasure it), and think they've failed miserably but everything turns out okay and it's very wholesome and a little cheesy.
Wholesome christmas episode where Anakin and Padme have their gift of the magi moment and Ahsoka has to hide that she accidentally found out what Plo is getting her and Satine and Korkie and Obi-Wan make a ridiculoulsy elaborate gingerbread house to bond and relax and the clones and Quinlan have a disastrous holiday light competition (Cody gets to be a little bit feral in this one. as a christmas gift. to himself)
Next season someone is sabotaging the light competition. It turns out to be Obi-Wan, who just wanted to bake cookies and put up his lights in peace like a normal person, which he finds extremely difficult when his neighbors are SCREAMING AT EACH OTHER in their front yards
Cliffhanger at the end of a season where Padme finds out that she's pregnant with twins.
We find out that Leia and Luke call Obi-Wan "Uncle Ben" because his name is really hard to pronounce for two-year-olds and everything they said came out sounding like Ben anyway
When the twins get older there's a very popular clothing brand called Rebel Scum and they get a shirt for Obi-Wan so that he can "be hip with the youngsters." (quoting Luke)

something i love about solsbury hill is how at the end of it all, theyre both still in their 20s. They've got so much life ahead of them to live and love each other! :)
BABIES, the both of them. I know they're both on their second marriage and are raising three children one of whom is already in high school but they are BABIES and they get SO much time together to learn from and with one another and travel and experiment and try new things and quit other things and support each other and love each other through all the hard stuff and all the good stuff and some stuff they or I can't even imagine yet.
I've got various things imagined for their future - simple stuff like Anakin teaching the twins to ride bikes without training wheels, and big stuff like Obi-Wan doing what they talked about and transitioning to teaching full-time. I thought about Anakin taking a step back from working at the shop and finishing his bachelor's - I thought it would be cute if he and Ahsoka were going to college at the same time, and Ahsoka, like any normal college student, would be very embarrassed by her father waving wildly across the quad at her and bringing her lunch when she forgets, and even more embarrassed when having to explain to her new friends that yes, that twenty-nine-year-old man is her dad, and please could you stop making eyes at him because he's very married.
Anakin starts making extra money on the side by buying classic cars in pieces and Frankensteining them back together and selling them to collectors. He refurbs an Austin Healy Sprite and Obi-Wan has such heart eyes any time he looks at it - even though he won't admit he likes it and insists (correctly) that it's totally impractical for their family and they have no room to store it - that Anakin claims to have 'sold it' only turns out he just bought it right back, slapped a giant bow on it and gifted it to Obi-Wan, who (after enumerating to Anakin all the varied ways in which this is a bad idea) drives his husband up to Makeout Point and fucks him over the driver's seat.
(Anakin's like that? That's your dream car? Weird choice babe but I support you in every way and I will continue to source obscure parts for you and keep that car running with my dying breath if it will make you happy. I will even drive a station wagon to make up for the fact that we are a five-person family and your car can only seat one passenger and is totally useless anytime it so much as drizzles.)

All paths lead here part eight
Master list
Tumblr media
Three months, it had been three months. The battle.of Geonosis wore on for longer than you'd liked. It had taken much time, much fighting and much negotiation for little outcome. Though Geonosis was liberated it came with a cost. Too many lives lost.
You stand alone in your room. Now the fighting had ended, you had all been called back to Corisaunt. The apartment felt cold to you. A tear falls from your eye as you look at yourself in the mirror. The bathroom door slides open allowing Anakin to slip inside. He grips your shoulders and you lean back into him.
"I'm sorry Ani." You whisper the words. Too frightened to shatter the quiet of the room.
"The doctor said you are healthy. There is no medical reason this happened. The stress of the war." He stops and sighs.
"There is no reason why when the war is over and you feel ready that we can't try again."
You nod and lean into him.
"Are you cross with me?" You ask. Anakin's heart dropped.
"No, my love. I am sad for you, for us; but not angry at you. I put you in an impossible situation."
He holds you and you both cry over your loss. It had still been so early none of your friends were aware yet. The grief you shared would stay forever between the two of you.
"Y/n, I love you and I will never let anything like this happen to you again." Anakin's voice lowered, a hint of something that frightened you danced in his words.
Before you can reply to him there is a ding at the elevators.
"It's Obi-Wan and Ahsoka." Anakin announces, "I have to train her. I asked Obi to stay with you." He kisses the top of your head.
"Thank you." You whisper into his chest. He slips from the bathroom.
"Anakin, what has happened to the grief here." Obi-Wan asks the moment he sees his old Padawan.
"Y/n, she-" his mouth runs dry, "she was…" Obi-Wan put a comforting hand on Anakin's shoulder.
"I am sorry, Anakin."
The two share a knowing look. Anakin nods.
"She needs-"
"I'll stay here as long as she wants me to." The elder agrees. Anakin and Ahsoka leave.
"Lady y/l/n, can I come in?" He asked through the bathroom door. You nod before realising he could not see you.
"Ye-yes."
The door opens and you turn to look at him, his gentle eyes break you again and you begin to cry. Obi-Wan Pulls you into a hug, his warm body engulfing you as you cry. Like the comfort of father, the Jedi Master comforted your mind, relaxing your body. Once you've calmed somewhat he leads you out to the living room and the two of you sit on the sofa.
"I wish you had told me sooner." He admits.
"I've been frightened. I thought Sheev would take me away from you all. Maybe this was for the best." You fiddle with a tassel on your dress.
"You are part of our family, y/n." He pats your knee.
"Okay, enough sadness. I have to get ready for the Senate tomorrow. They want a full report and Padme needs my help with her speech." You say, shaking off the despair. Obi-Wan eyed you cautiously.
"You are allowed some time. Padme would understand."
"No, no one can know. Obi-Wan please, there would be too many questions." You grab his hand.
"Alright, but you need to take time, at least light duties. Your body has been through something traumatic, it needs time to heal." He squeezed your hand a little bit, "I'll make some tea and we'll work on the speech together."
Your smile, a genuine smile. Obi-Wan had become a rock for you. A father figure of sorts. In truth all three of them were now your family. At times you were sure he had seen the slight touches, the glances and the feelings that danced between you and Anakin. Though he never spoke on it, there would be knowing smiles and gentle tap on your hand.
He sat with you through the day, allowing you to dictate your words to him as he typed them on the datapad. Occasionally he would disappear to the kitchen and return with more tea, or food for you. He made jokes to make you laugh and when your eyes became sleepy he helped you into bed.
"When will Anakin be back?" You ask with your eyes half closed.
"Soon. Rest now. I shall stay till he returns." Obi-Wan stepped out of the bedroom, his mind racing with many thoughts. He situated himself in the living room, perching himself on the sofa. In quiet reflection he contemplated his next moves. For some time he had been repressing his own emotions. Hiding behind the Jedi code, but why? Thinking about the woman who had melted his heart he knew the answer. If she asked him, he would give it all up without a thought.
Was that blasphemous? He couldn't tell any more. With nothing left to do but wait, Obi-Wan allowed himself to relax into the sofa, his eyes closing.
Panic woke him, though it was not his own emotion. The room was in darkness and a blanket slipped from his lap as he stood.
"Anakin?" He called in a loud whisper. His Padawan shuffled from the bedroom, trousers sling low on his hips and a black robe over his shoulders.
"I felt…you're sweating, are you unwell?" Obi-Wan asked, moving across the room. Anakin blinked, his eyes meeting Obi-Wan's.
"I had a nightmare, that's all, I'm fine." He brushed him off walking toward the kitchen.
"Like your mother?" The question halted the younger Jedi, memories rushing back to him that he'd rather forget.
"This is the first one I've had since." He admits, not looking away from the glass of water he had poured but not drunk from.
"Tell me." Obi-Wan positioned himself resting back on the counter. Anakin sighed, dropping the water in the sink.
"It's y/n. I dreamed she died. Giving birth." His chest shook.
Obi-Wan felt his own heart breaking.
"Anakin, after this terrible….you have both been through a great heartache. It is normal to worry and our fears can manifest in our dreams. After this loss you just be so worried." He had closed the space between the two men, placing a hand on Anakin's shoulder.
"Did she tell you?" Anakin's voice was broken.
"No, it's not hard to see, for me at least. Don't fear, I will keep your secrets. I only wish you could have told me sooner."
The words were a bomb to a dam. Anakin fell into his Master's arms, finally allowing his feelings to pour out of his eyes. Obi-Wan held him.
"I'm sorry, I know this goes against the code. I was going to leave but then Geonosis and Ahsoka. I didn't want to disappoint you, Master."
"Anakin, no, you could never disappoint me. The heart is a muscle that fights hard for what it wants. You know I understand that."he held the younger man's shoulders to look him in the eyes.
"But you controlled yourself." The blue eyes glistened through the tears.
"I am a coward, Anakin. I let myself fall for Satinne, I laid with her then ran away. Seeing how brave you have been through all of this time has made me see that. Listen to me, no matter what happens, whatever you choose, you are my brother, Anakin and I will help you with anything."
Anakin took in a long breath, straying his emotions.
"Thank you, Master."
"Come now, back to bed, your wife needs your comfort." Obi-Wan guided Anakin back to the bedroom before returning to his place on the sofa. Only now noticing Ahsoka asleep on the opposite chair. It was strange, but this felt right, all of you under one roof. A family.

Thoughts on Ahsoka Episode 8 - The Jedi, the Witch, and the Warlord - A Discussion Post
The season finale was both action-packed and emotional, and I was certainly not expecting an ending like this. Let's look back and relive the finale!
(all screencaps from www.cap-that.com! https://www.cap-that.com/starwars/ahsoka/108/)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
At the beginning of the finale, the three Nightsisters tell Morgan to come forward, giving her full powers and truly making her like one of them. Her eyes turn dark and marks similar to the ones we have seen Nightsisters have on their faces appear on her own. Honestly, I loved her transformation and how she got to connect more with her magick with the support of the Nightsisters, and her new blade was pretty cool. Thrawn observed the entire scene from behind.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Inside Ahsoka's ship, Ezra works on building a new lightsaber with Huyang. As Ezra rambles through the lightsaber parts, Huyang does get a bit annoyed with things becoming unorganized. I bet if he had seen Ezra's blaster-lightsaber combo, he would lose it.
Sabine comes over and observes the situation, mentioning Kanan Jarrus. Huyang begins talking about Kanan (Caleb) and remembering how he had built his lightsaber. Ezra reminisces on Kanan as well, as after all, he was his master. Ezra uses a piece that Kanan also had on his lightsaber, Huyang remembering that Kanan used one and he had another, which Ezra took. Ezra ignites his new lightsaber, revealing a blue hue. I wonder where he got the kyber crystal from.
Tumblr media
Sabine eventually leaves the room, and Huyang reveals to Ezra that the Empire had attacked Mandalore and killed many people, including Clan Wren. Ezra did not know about this part yet, as I felt like Sabine had kept it hidden from him, possibly not wanting to talk about it. Huyang adds on that Ahsoka felt Sabine could become dangerous after her family died if she continued her training, hence the conflicts between Ahsoka and Sabine began after Ahsoka left her. In a way, Ahsoka could have been thinking about Anakin, because she knows the importance of the people he loved to him, and if anything happened to them, he would take a dangerous turn.
Tumblr media
Outside, Sabine reconnects with Ahsoka, talking to her about what happened. Ahsoka wants to reconcile with Sabine and continue on her training, wanting to always be there for her.
Tumblr media
As Ezra stepped out of the ship to show the women his new lightsaber, he hears a sound he has not heard in years. TIE fighters begin attacking the group, trying to prevent them from leaving. After a tough fight with the TIEs and Sabine crashing Ahsoka's ship, the three head towards the Chimaera atop the howlers, ready for a fight.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Thrawn and Morgan get the Night Troopers ready for battle, wanting to get rid of the three and prevent them from coming onboard. Thrawn does not want to negotiate "with the apprentice of Anakin Skywalker," which I find hilarious because he knew Anakin, so he doesn't want to put up with whatever Ahsoka learned from him. Ahsoka, Ezra, and Sabine make their way towards the Imperials while being attacked, managing to get in, which annoyed Thrawn. Though, the packing is nearly done, and the Chimaera is ready to leave with the Eye of Sion.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ahsoka, Ezra, and Sabine face many Night Troopers, managing to get rid of them before moving forward. As Thrawn is always one step ahead, he gets the Nightsisters to resurrect the troopers, as they act all zombie-like and begin the attack again.
Later on the episode, Sabine and Ezra faced off against two troopers with darker armor, and the one that had fought Sabine had part of his helmet torn off, revealing horrifying flesh under as the trooper growled and tried to strangle Sabine. These troopers reminded me of the Death Troopers book, but instead they've been possessed and potentially resurrected by Nightsister magick.
Tumblr media
Ahsoka is face to face with Morgan once again along the path. Letting Ezra and Sabine go, she duels with Morgan. I found this fight to be pretty cool with Morgan's new blade, and Ahsoka ended up losing one of her lightsabers. I knew Morgan was going to die, but I wish we could know more about her. I really wanted to learn more about her backstory as a Nightsister.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Thrawn boards the Eye of Sion, ready to leave with the Chimaera connected to the Eye. Sabine and Ezra watch it slowly leave, needing to get onboard. Sabine manages to use the Force and get Ezra on board. She is ready to launch herself, but sees Ahsoka and decides to help her in the battle instead.
Tumblr media
Ezra fights two troopers, managing to get ahold of one's comm. He impersonates the trooper's voice, which is totally an Ezra thing to do right there. He is on the Chimaera without Thrawn's knowledge, which makes it funnier since he can ruin Thrawn's plans again.
Tumblr media
Ahsoka and Sabine chase the ships as fast as they can, flying into space and trying to catch up until the Eye could jump into hyperspace. Thrawn contacts Ahsoka through the comm channel, talking to her about Anakin. He says "Long live the Empire" right before jumping into hyperspace. Ezra is on the Chimaera, while Ahsoka, Sabine, and Huyang are left on Peridea.
Tumblr media
Left with no choice, Ahsoka and Sabine return to the surface, meeting up with the Noti. They make home with them, and as the night dawns on them, Ahsoka tells Sabine that is it time to move on. I'm not sure what is going on in Ahsoka's head, but she seems very calm about this. She does mention that Ezra is now where he needs to be, which is true, but nothing's very clear to me here. Ahsoka had also seen Morai here, which was so interesting.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Both Baylan and Shin show up towards the end, as I wonder where they were during the entire battle. Thrawn had just left them both behind, making them stranded here as well. Shin ignites her lightsaber, grabbing the attention of many troopers left behind that had initially come with Morgan. She looked saddened, and she is without her master.
Baylan appears on top of a mountain that displays two characters from the Mortis Arc: the Father and the Son. This is such an interesting detail and leaves room for much more to know about Peridea, yet there wasn't any more time. First we had seen Morai, and then these statues. There's so much more we need to know!
Sadly due to Ray Stevenson's passing, we won't be able to see more of him as this character. He did so amazing with his acting, and I wish we could have gotten more. Rest in peace.
Tumblr media
Getting back to the right galaxy, Thrawn arrives to Dathomir, the Nightsisters seeing their new home from the surface. People have said that those boxes on the ship hold corpses or dead Nightsisters, so there's definitely something going to happen if we get a second season.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hera, Chopper, and a few others run to the back of a New Republic ship ready to fight, where an Imperial ship arrives and lands. A trooper steps out of the ship, as Chopper begins to talk to the trooper. He rolls forward to the trooper, getting a head pat. Chopper immediately recognizes Ezra, as Ezra takes his helmet off for the others to see. Hera hears the words "Hi, Hera. I'm home."
(HOW DARE WE DON'T GET TO SEE A HUG-)
Tumblr media
At the end, Anakin shows up as a Force ghost, watching Ahsoka and Sabine. Ahsoka knows that her master will always be there for her in any way, and Anakin watches over his padawan. Gosh, I loved Hayden's appearances in this show.
Since there was only 8 episodes, there wasn't enough time to cover a whole lot sadly. I wish they had done more episodes or made episodes longer, especially the finale. There was a lot we wanted to see, like Zeb, Kallus, and a lot more. We all had this theory that Ezra and Thrawn have been in the Unknown Regions and had begun to work together to survive; though that wasn't the case at all. But we were all excited to see characters such as Jacen and Anakin! Kaz's dad, Senator Xiono, and C-3PO was definitely a surprise.
It was fun to do these discussions every episode and celebrating Ezra's return after so many years. This show really had us screaming and crying every week. I loved every actor's portrayal of each character. I hope a season 2 gets confirmed, but that may be a little difficult right now with the actors' strikes. This show was good and a lot of fun!

Ok, time for ep 8 thoughts
Spoilers, obviously.
-So I have some mixed feelings about the very end. I liked it for the most part but there were some things I'm not sure how to feel about and some that made me a bit mad. Still, I laughed, I almost cried, I gasped, I had to pause at times just because I had to take a breath for a moment while watching. It was intense and it could have been much worse (EZRA COULD HAVE DIEEED) And it's definitely setting things for a sequel in some way. I hope there's either another season, or the story gets further BUT PROPERLY developed in movies/shows (maybe an official Rebels season 5? Or some spin off)
-I liked how in the beginning of the episode they addressed some things, it was about damn time. Especially loved how they talked a bit about Kanan, even mentioned his name before the fall of the Jedi Order. Felt it was important moment. He was a very important part of Ezra and also Sabine's lives, even more so than the other Spectres. Not only a mentor and master but family. It really made me happy. And FINALLY they explained what happened between Ahsoka and Sabine. And they explained what happened with Sabine's family, unfortunately. But at least it explained it. I'm still kinda not sure what they told Ezra off screen about Sabine's decision, I somewhat think they must have said what happened or he gathered two and two together more or less but at this point, I'm sort of glad they didn't comment it on-screen and there wasn't some huge drama, with all else that happened, though.
-Also, the scene with Ahsoka and Sabine right after that. I liked it. In fact, I liked all of their interactions this episode. They finally got to talk and show understanding towards one another and also support, mental and physical. And I'm happy that Ahsoka wasn't mad at her because she can now reflect on how important the bond between a master and apprentice is without what happened with Anakin weighting on her. She acknowledged the fact that she's also made mistakes and also how important finding Ezra was for Sabine.
-I also loved so many of the interactions between the three of them and how they worked as a team. But I especially loved all the interactions between Ezra and Sabine (plus Ahsoka's knowing smiles and glances). Already made a whole post about this "I missed you" and how cute it was, but there was so much more. The parallels between Sabine fighting with a lightsaber and Ahsoka telling her to use blasters (which was a nod towards their previous conversation and how a saber doesn't make you a Jedi. I don't think Ahsoka told her to use blasters because she meant she couldn't use the saber well, I think it was connected to the "train your body" part and knowing that Sabine's style of fighting is mixed and she can use other effective ways), and later Ezra calling for Sabine when he was attacked, saying to be careful because he worried that she might shoot him and immediately getting even more worried for a second once she lit up the saber (BEFORE COMPLIMENTING HER SKILLS AND SAYING HOW HIS EXCUSE WAS MISSING HER). And them trying to open the gate together. And doing THE JUMP! I honestly giggled for a second when he almost fell but at this point I was sure he's not going to die that way (the fear came back once he was on the Destroyer). Loved these moments and the trust and love between them (whatever kind of love it is, I can totally see it either as a deep platonic one but also as an eventual hint at something more. But I think in any case they're not there yet). How they got each other's back while fighting. And also "Where is Ezra?" "Going home." I swear if they don't meet again I'll kill someone.
-So, of course Thrawn returned. I don't think anyone had a doubt he would but I can't wait to see what this would mean. I feel like until this moment I somewhat didn't pay that much attention to this cargo he spoke about because I was too focused on other things but now I really want to know what is it and what he and the sisters are going to do (and who's gonna stop them. HOW?) Here I'm not too familiar with ALL Star Wars media so might be missing something but he repeated "For the Empire." a few times and I wonder what this means and if he'll have something to do with the creation of the First Order later, or maybe some other fraction. Is he eventually gonna have a link to the Emperor's return?
-Also, these troopers were zombies, huh? Or became zombies anyway. I feel like their movements before being brought back weren't so... well, zombie-like. Also, Ezra said it hasn't happened before. Which reminds me, he did mention Thrawn and how he brought back the Night Sisters (how??) but we still don't know too much about what he himself did during these ten years. Except making friends and mastering the Force.
-I was somewhat so relieved that Sabine got her helmet back. I don't worry about other characters going around without head protection but idk why I somewhat feel uneasy watching a Mandalorian without their helmet in a battle. Like, idk, as if they're in more danger without it (There was a moment when a trooper shot her helmet! If it wasn't there, she'd be dead!). But it just made me think about how somehow her helmet seems to be going off too easily? We saw it falling/being taken off on a couple of occasions this season and I thought these helmets have some way to get attached to the head or something. I don't think we've seen another Mandalorian's helmet coming off so easily. Definitely not Din's. But also not Bo-Katan's (maybe that's why she's always wearing her head piece, it has some mechanism like a magnet or sth, lol) or really anyone else's. Idk, found this a bit weird (and dangerous).
-I feel like in this last episode there were some weird things that were opposite what's been going on in some of the other episodes. The most obvious one was Ezra refusing to take the saber last episode but making a new one. Could pass as preferring to let Sabine have it because she's been training and so she'd have more weapons to compensate not being a Force user (thought she had blasters), or him really meaning it's hers now because he gave it to her. But we've seen characters using someone else's saber before, plus he didn't exactly give it to her for using as he didn't know she had trained with Ahsoka. And this line about the Force being his ally. Idk, good for him to have a new saber (somewhat the same logic like the Mandalorians and their helmets, I know I'm weird) but they made it somewhat of a big deal that he wields the Force much better now and doesn't need a weapon to fight. The only logical explanation I can find is that sabers are somewhat attuned to their wielders and we know Sabine made corrections on his so it's really hers now and he needs his own.
-And another thing that made little sense is Sabine suddenly being able to use the Force. I like the idea of the Force being all around and eventually everyone being able to connect with it but the whole season she was showed as am extremely non-Force sensitive person and now it suddenly connected with it? Idk, I liked the occasions on which she used it but I think it should have happened slower. Either her managing to move something but slightly or sth, or having her show some small abilities during the rest of the season. Or if she started using it suddenly, it happening during some really critical situation (Yes, yes, I know she got her saber while literally fighting for her life but it could have been more intense. Maybe Ezra trying to do the jump himself but failing or when she returned to help Ahsoka. Idk).
-I honestly had forgotten about Baylan and Shin until like, the middle of the episode or sth. And then I was almost sure we wouldn't get to see more of them this season until the end. I still want to know what's going to happen and I believe they have something big planned for them too, with the last moments of them that they showed. We still have no clue what he's trying to do and I was honestly confused by Shin and her saber in the end. Is she gonna fight? Or join these guys? I wonder what they'll do now with the unfortunate and untimely passing of the actor playing Baylan. But lots of things went unresolved and now that Ahsoka and Sabine are also there, there will be interaction sooner or later.
-Finally, I'll speak about the ending. EZRA WENT HOME!!! I'm honestly so happy about it. I was really worried he won't make it for one reason or another. And I was worried when he got on the ship all alone, though I was pretty confident he wasn't going to get caught and just get killed. Not like that. But maybe captured or something. Thoo, I loved it when he took the trooper's clothes, just like old times. And he and Hera finally reunited!!! SOO ANGRY THAT'S NOT A HUG WE GOT TO SEE!! Likee, the Ghost crew was a family and the two of them were so close! We soo need to see what's going to happen. Also, is Ezra aware Ahsoka and Sabine didn't come back? He must be obviously aware they didn't get on the Destroyer but does he think they somehow followed? I think he expects them to come back too. He would be worried otherwise. We last saw how Sabine ran and looked as if she was about to jump too but she returned for Ahsoka and we didn't really see what happened before that. They were too far apart to be able to talk properly but did she somehow tell him her intentions? I doubt she jumped only to then jump back but I don't believe he last saw her running back and didn't wonder what happened. But Ahsoka was sure he's back and safe, maybe he also felt through the Force what Sabine wanted to do.
-Now about Sabine and Ahsoka staying back... Tbh, I'm not entirely mad. Also, Ahsoka looked quite content with it, as if it was some new beginning. There are still things that need to be done there and also, it might be a great opportunity for them to become once again a master and apprentice, and this time do so properly. Also, the owl! Anakin's ghost showing once more and smiling while looking at the two!! Great moments!! But I still think that they could somehow return. Maybe with the help of some giant space friends that can travel through hyperspace? Something else? Idk, I can somewhat see Ahsoka staying there. Maybe after resolving whatever they'll have to deal with and finishing Sabine's training. It could eventually become her official peaceful retirement from everything. But I'm very much sure Sabine's place is not there. Not forever. I'm all about tropes such as sacrifice for someone else you deeply care about and all but I don't think she wanted to find Ezra just so they'll be separated again so soon. And there's something more to it. There's this repetitive theme in this show and the whole SW franchise about the apprentice eventually moving on without their master. I didn't mention the scenes with Ahsoka and Anakin much but wasn't it all about that? After ep 5 didn't Ahsoka finally deal with what happened and moved on? She came back to her past self, joking and sarcastic and not being shadowed by guilt. She showed understanding towards what Sabine did and acknowledged how she had once walked away from her just like her master walked away from her but he finally came back to finish her training and she in return came back to finish Sabine's. It seems like Ahsoka learned all she needed to and moved on. And she's now a master. And Sabine would also eventually finish her training and would need to move on (maybe not exactly become a master but still find another purpose). And I can't see her doing so remaining while there.
In the end, a list of things I want to see in the future:
-EZRA AND HERA HUGGG!!
-Ezra meeting Jacen!!!
-Zeb showing up again!! Him also reuniting with Ezra!! Interacting with Hera and Chopper, maybe Jacen.
-Eventually seeing/hearing about Kallus? The two went to live together and now suddenly Zeb is training recruits, idc if it's a ship, a close (totally non-heterosexual) friendship or whatever, they show and mention one of them, they eventually gotta at least mention the other one too. And it better not be something similar to Sabine's family.
-Ezra doing am Uno-reverse and going to bring Sabine (and maybe Ahsoka) home!!! Even better!! The crew of the Ghost all going back for her(them)!!! Oh, they'd better do that!!
-Seeing Thrawn's plan and how it'll play out (and eventually be stopped).
-Everyone finally believing about Thrawn's return and seeing the threat he is!! (And apologising to Hera!!!)
-Seeing what Baylan's plan is too!
-Shin maybe accepting Ahsoka's offer? Idk, not Shin's biggest stan but I think she's quite conflicted and lost. Maybe both figuratively and literally speaking.
- Some huge Mandalorian crossover! (Would be amazing and it can totally work, now that Thrawn is a big threat and some of the characters already have mutual associates anyway.)
Okay, okay, I stop here. As usual, sorry for any typos. I can honestly barely keep my eyes open and my mind is still a mess from the episode.

I was on the the Bo- Katan tag recently where people think that the ownership of the Darksaber is gonna either lead to her and Din being a couple or her outright challenging Din for the saber, but I don’t think either of them is right.
The romance thing is just... no. The writers know the audience. I don’t think anyone wants that. Both Din stans and Bo stans. Plus this is a show about a father and son. A show about people with different baggage coming together and creating a family. Romance really isn’t part of this show’s ethos. Nor has romance been a theme in any Star Wars show since Rebels (I haven’t seen Andor yet, so the statement might not hold up if Cassian does have a love interest). The writers just wouldn’t go that route for this show.
Now to the part I actually want to talk about: Bo- Katan challenging Din. Maybe this is a hot take, but I don’t think Bo would challenge him. If she wanted to, she would have done that after Grogu left with Luke. Strategically, that makes the most sense. Din just fought Gideon while Bo and the rest of her squad had a relatively easier time getting to the bridge. Din is physically more tired than her. Additionally, has had no training with the Darksaber, while she probably had couple years worth of fighting with it. Also keep in mind that Bo- Katan was Pre’s second in command. She led the Nite Owls. She fought against the Empire. Bo- Katan has 20 more years of fight experience than Din. Even if Din is equal to Bo- Katan (which is highly unlikely), Din just lost Grogu. He is mentally in no shape to fight Bo after losing the one person who gave meaning to his life (other than his cult). The best time to get the Darksaber back was on that warship.
More importantly, we need to look at Bo- Katan’s character arc. During the majority of TCW, Bo was against Satine’s pacifist ways, but after her actions in the Lawless arc, we see her actively trying to undo the damage she did. Bo even seems to question her ideas and to come to the realization that maybe she was wrong and Satine was right when Ahsoka leaves Mandalore in S7.
We then she her in Rebels, where we learn that the Jedi named her the regent of Mandalore, but that was a short held title since Order 66 happened soon after. From the way Fenn (you know, the leader of the Protectors. The ones in charge of keeping Satine/ the ruler of Mandalore safe) talked about Bo- Katan and the rest of Clan Kryze, its safe to assume that she was some form of freedom fighter for Mandalore under the Empire’s rule. He was ready to attack Sabine when she said that she was part of House Wren because Ursa was part of Death Watch, but, like I stated previously, Bo was second in command. Fenn should have been more aggressive to Bo than Sabine, but he wasn’t. The only logical conclusion I can come to is that Bo was active and public in her fight for Mandalore while Ursa wasn’t, so the Protectors have more reason to trust Bo in the beginning of the Rebel’s Mandalore arc than Sabine. I want to specifically look at the part with Sabine and the Darksaber because she offered it to Bo- Katan in the beginning of the arc, and Bo- Katan turned it down. She only accepted the Darksaber after the rest of the clans voted Bo to have it. Even then she took it for Mandalore and for her sister, Satine.
Character arc wise, it doesn’t make sense for her to win back the saber from Din. It makes sense for her to do that with Gideon. Her most popular quote from TCW is “No outsider will ever rule Mandalore”, but Din isn’t an outsider. Additionally, we never once see her have the desire to rule Mandalore during TCW and Rebels. Clan Kryze clearly has power, or else Satine wouldn’t have been in the line of succession. PR- wise, it would have made more sense for Bo- Katan to be the face of Death Watch since 1.) it goes back to the classic “siblings fighting over the throne” trope and 2.) the public would actually question if Satine’s rule is right when her sister herself doesn’t like it. But Bo doesn’t. She follows Pre. Bo could have fought Sabine, or taken the Darkersaber when it was offered to her the first time, but, as I stated previously, she doesn’t. If the writers wanted Bo- Katan to have the desire to rule, they had multiple opportunities to do, but they don’t.
To understand this decision by the writers, need to look at the one common thread between both times Bo- Katan became the ruler of Mandalore: Satine. Bo- Katan brings up Satine both times, and, both times, she confesses that she’s not her sister. Bo- Katan does not have the desire to rule, but she does have the desire to do right by her sister. That’s what this is all about. She is the Mandalorian Obi- Wan. Obi- Wan failed his brother, so he spent the rest of his life trying to right that wrong by protecting Luke and Leia. Satine’s Luke and Leia, her children, is Mandalore (and Korkie). The only way Bo- Katan can do right by her sister is by helping Mandalore finally achieve the peace Satine died for.
So, no, I don’t think Bo- Katan is going to challenge Din, and no, I don’t think her arc this season is about letting go of her desire to rule Mandalore either. Bo- Katan’s arc this season is about letting go of the guilt she has over her sister. She needs to let Satine go. Bo lost her mom and dad, and before she can grieve her sister, the only other family she has left, is taken away by two Jedi. She comes back a year later as a changed person, ruling the planet when she was alone (and vulnerable to a certain Clan that wanted back power). The two got in a big enough fight that Bo- Katan left and joined Death Watch. Bo- Katan didn’t want to bring two Sith lords to Mandalore, but she was force choked while her leader looked on smiling. The Sith killed her sister and lead to the fall of her home world. She finally kicked the Sith lord out, but by bringing the Republic to Mandalore, she basically opened the door to the Empire’s rule. Bo- Katan spent the next 16 or so years fighting the Empire until she was elected as the leader of Mandalore by the other clans. Then Moff Gideon happened. Bo- Katan has been going from one fight to another for her whole life. Maybe she finally realizes to take a freaking break and process everything she’s been through. She’s in her freaking 60s for the force’s sake. Mando S3 could do for Bo- Katan what the OWK show did for Obi- Wan, she can finally let go of what she owes to Satine.

Ahsoka "Time To Fly" Liveblog
Starting right in with Sabine training with Huyang.
You know I don't mind that Sabine asked Ahsoka for lightsaber training (offscreen, between shows) and I'm glad that her "Jedi training" is primarily that, but I still don't really understand Ahsoka trying to open Sabine up more to the Force.
She's below the baseline aptitude Ashoka, you're not gonna brute force her into being Force Sensitive no matter how much she wants it.
Anyone can channel the Force, sure, but the most Sabine will be able to achieve is maybe some heightened reflexes and mild precognition. No amount of training and hard work is going to make someone Non-Sensitive be able to perform Force feats.
I realize I'm wading straight into the heart of a crapton of Discourse with that opinion.
But yeah, my basic thought is you either have the Force or you don't, anyone can channel the Force but to actually wield it you have to be Sensitive, which means above a measurable baseline, this is the way I have always understood Force Sensitivity to work and I'm not changing my opinion now no matter how much Filoni really really wants all his favorite OCs to be Jedi no matter how ill they're suited for it.
Sabine once again overcommitting to her attacks, like she did back in "Trails of the Darksaber".
And Ahsoka quoting Force 101 at her. Even though Sabine would never be in much danger of Falling, due her being as Force Sensitive as a rock, the underlying Jedi philosophy of emotional regulation and control is still true and valid and useful.
Eyyyyyy Coruscant!
I never watched Resistance, was Kazuda's dad always an asshole or had he mellowed out and Realized What Was Important or something in the interim between now and the Sequel Era?
Oooof, Mon looks so frustrated by the fact that Ex-Imperials are still all over the New Republic infrastructure.
HERA HAS BEEN CONSISTENTLY TRYING TO GET RESOURCES FROM THE NEW REPUBLIC TO GO FIND EZRA TAKE THAT WANKERS WHO FOR SOME UNGODLY REASON THINK SHE GAVE UP ON HIM.
Hera coming for some scalps today lol.
On the one hand the New Republic being so hands off and afraid of becoming another Empire that they allow the First Order and Imperial Remnant to gather strength right under their noses is annoying on several narrative levels, it's something that ties directly into the Sequels and the idea that complacency leads to the rise of authoritarian tyranny, which we already had demonstrated with the Prequels so it's redundant, it takes a lot out of the victory claimed by the whole Rebellion, that things would just collapse again not even 30/40 years later, and also it just makes my girl Mon Mothma look useless and ineffectual.
On the other hand the Sequel Trilogy desperately needed any kind of political background to make sense so I guess I appreciate the attempts to rehabilitate them and try to make them work, and it's not like the New Republic in Legends EU was free of problems either.
"He killed friends, people who were like family to me." Kanan. :(
The emoting is much better this episode, Hera's angry, "You don't know that!" is hurting me ouch.
JAAAAAACEEEEEEEEEEEEN.
Look at him. He's precious.
And thank god he has green hair. NO I'M SORRY I DON'T CARE I LIKE HIS REBELS DESIGN IT WASN'T BAD Y'ALL ARE JUST MEAN.
Filoni this would have been the perfect scene to actually explain WHY Sabine wants to be a Jedi.
And no, I'm still not accepting, "Anyone can use the Force with enough hard work and training! :D" That's not how it's worked for years and you know it.
Out of all things from the Sequels we really didn't need to rehabilitate Rian Johnson's dumbass, "The Force is for everyone!!11!" sentiments.
Ahsoka's shade at the Prequel Order is not appreciated, the Order didn't fail because they didn't accept barely Sensitive padawans, it didn't fail, they were genocided.
The Steeped Too Long In Rancid Fanon Osmosis part of Filoni's writing be coming out, much to my frustration.
"I need her to be herself." Okay now I'm confused. Is that line supposed to mean Ahsoka's indulging Sabine until she figures out that she doesn't have to force herself to be something she's not?
LOL Sabine snarking at the cup is actually a completely Sabine thing to do.
*whispers* Eye of Scion, Eye of Scion, Eye of Scion...
Hi Shin! Hi Marrok!
Shin continues to have the charisma of wet paper.
Man Ahsoka's ship has some great shields.
Sabine and Ashoka finding a groove for their teamwork. <3
It's a giant hyperspace ring, I knew it.
Okay yeah, I think we needed to let a few more hits in for this not to feel as much like Plot Armor.
Oh ho ho! Space lightsaber battle?
Not gonna lie, when Jedi go out into space with spacesuits and their sabers, it's an aesthetic I can't get enough of.
PUUUURRRRRRGIIIIIIIILLLLLLL!
AND THEY BROUGHT THE "HYPERSPACE" THEME BACK AW YEEEEEEEEAAAAAH.
These are big bois lol.
Sabine's face, aww. There's so much unspoken wonder and a twinge of hope.
Six hyperdrive engines, good lord.
"Theoretically if one knew the coordinates and navigation-" WELL THEY DO KNOW THAT HUYANG, IT'S NOT THEORETICAL ANYMORE.
INTERGALACTIC HYPERSPACE LANES BASED ON THE MIGRATION PATHS OF PURRGIL.
WE WERE RIGHT, WE WERE RIGHT, WE WERE RIIIIIIIIIIIGHT.
Aw man is that it? Is that all we get this week?
Okay, well, aside from some frustrating but typical Filoni Headcanons being shoved into this episode I enjoyed it. I think this show needs to stick to its strengths, namely, the cool space mariner tech and aesthetic and all that mystical stuff. The character beats between Ahsoka and Sabine worked for the most part, but I wasn't keen on them until the space battle (due to the reasons I've already outlined).
So yeah, this show is making me nitpick about as much as I did for the Kenobi show thus far but I don't think we've quite gotten to the emotional ride highs that helped me pardon those just yet.
All these writing issues are so easily fixable, though. So I can't tell if the script needed more time to marinate or needed other perspectives to help polish and refine it. (Did Disney even let Filoni have any other writers to help? Or did they just let him do whatever?)
*brushes off keyboard* Nothing a little patchworking can't fix.
Hhghhnn but the episode ended way too early I wanted more. I wanted mooooooooooore, so I guess it's still doing its job.
Okay. Loins girded for next week, that one should be a hella ride.

Star Wars Voices of the Galaxy #2 Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon
On the matter of Anakin’s fall
Tumblr media
(prev VOG Mace and Palpatine here)
[In the years following the Fall of the Republic, Obi-Wan Kenobi resides in exile on the desert world of Tatooine. After ensuring young Luke Skywalker is in the care of the Lars family, he tried to build a community for himself - to act as a jedi on the small scale. He succeeded, but with potential blowback onto his charge he decided to redouble his isolation as the ghost of his master Qui-Gon Jin has begun communing sporadically with him to continue his training towards being one within the force. But the isolation, and Qui-Gon's sporadic communion, has given Obi-Wan too much time to think on things he'd rather not, under the sadness, frustration...]
"I am One with The Force and The Force is With Me...I am One with The..."
"I sense turmoil in you, Obi-Wan."
"I'm trying, Master."
"I need not remind you of trying."
"Yes, yes, of course. Its just...I didn't realize that isolation would weigh so heavy on me. Too much time to think about what happened. Thinking about where I went wrong."
"Or perhaps The Galaxy does not turn on the axis upon Obi-Wan Kenobi's shoulders."
"Master?"
"You’ve learned of the tuskens on this world.”
“Er, yes. I’ve learned enough to get by. To communicate if I need to, to scare them away if I have to."
“Have you heard of the ghost tribe?”
“Oh, that local legend? What of it?”
“Tell me of it.”
"Forgive me, but I fail to see the point of -"
"Truly a padawan once more. Indulge your master."
“Very well...A local tribe, they’d had run ins with farmers. This was before The Call was established. One day they, without warning, they were found all dead. Slain, decapitated, even the women and children. Tuskens steer clear of their old grounds, they think the desert spirits slew them. Even the farmers found it strange. A mystery, a grisly one. No one knows what happened.”
"..."
"Yes, a haunting story but not important to what I'm -"
"They killed Anakin's mother."
"Oh. Oh."
"I had been following him as I gained my self once more. To follow his progress. I tried to stop him, but was not strong enough yet to be heard, and he would not listen."
"He...Anakin did that?"
"You sound surprised."
“I know, I shouldn't be, I mean...I thought it was the war that did it to him…or losing Ahsoka...or when I lied to him...I've been replaying the war in my head, every day, trying to remember what started it all., where I went wrong...”
“He had already made that first, worst step by himself, Obi Wan.”
"And I never knew...How well I thought I knew him...It was just a spiral for him, wasn't it?"
"..."
“What did Yoda say? The dark side will forever dominate your path. Do you think that’s true? Was there any hope for him?”
“…”
“Qui gon? Master?”
“…”
"Master...you can't tell me that and leave me to dwell on it. It isn't fair, it isn't..."
"..."
“You should’ve told us, Anakin. We would’ve helped. How could you not know that? After everything, everything, how could you not know how completely we loved you?"
"..."
"But you didn’t care about that, did you? You wanted it all. You couldn’t let go of a single thing so you destroyed everything. I felt pity for you, that you had to carry so much pain that I didn't realize under it was just…hate.”
"..."
“The council was right. We should’ve never taken you from this world. You were troubled, and we gave you too much power. The power to destroy yourself and everyone around you. The Galaxy would've been better if you'd stayed with your mother, all those years ago. You would've been better.”
"..."
“Part of me wants to hate you. You...took so much from me. More than Maul. He was taken from birth, we discovered that on Dathomir, don't you remember? What was your excuse? Maul had no chances given to him, you had every chance. You killed my entire family, all of my friends. Children...how could I not want you to burn for what you did?"
"..."
"But I can’t. Is that wrong of me? Is that a betrayal of the jedi? One last failure Anakin Skywalker's master has leveled upon the order? I love you. Because I knew you. Perhaps that's where I went wrong. I was too close to see you.”
"..."
“I was too busy looking at your light that I blinded myself. How many times did I tell you how wise of a Jedi you were? How great of a jedi. But did I ever bother to test your wisdom? Your compassion? Never, because I knew that light was in you. I saw it. I thought for every dark cloud over you, you'd make it through because of that light. I never thought you'd snuff it out yourself. Never."
"..."
"Instead of tending that light in you, I just...stared at it. It engulfed me until it went out. I only saw what you could be, not who you were. And the gulf between the two breaks my heart."
"..."
"You should’ve done better, Anakin. You have no idea how much… beauty was in your heart, but you wasted it. I tried, Anakin. Don't you know that? For all your spite, didn't you realize it hurt me twice as much? What a burden, to be the chosen one you thought, but what about the chosen one's master? What a burden that was."
"..."
"Yet Master Yoda always said there are no bad students. Only bad masters. I should’ve taught you to care for yourself, to tend to yourself. The Jedi code is true, but somehow I could never make you understand it. Never understand The Force. Never understand yourself."
"..."
"I’m so sorry. For what I couldn't do, and what you did to yourself. I mourned my brother, the man who died, but I mourn again for the boy you killed. He was good, and kind, and deserved to live alongside every other jedi."
"..."
"I promise that when the time comes, I will teach your son to honor and love the light in himself."
"...Obi-Wan."
"Qui-Gon, where did you go?"
"I was here."
"And you said nothing?"
"I said what you needed to hear, and let you process it in your own way."
"But, what was the point, master?
"You needed to let go."
"Let go of what? my hatred of Anakin or my love for him?"
"All of it."
"I see. How long have I carried onto that?"
"The burdens easiest to discard are also the heaviest."
"Thank you, master."
"Do you feel better?"
"I feel...lighter."
"Now we can begin again."

Thx for reading! This series is to have little fun writing sessions that are pretty quick but basically scenes or interactions that we don't see or only hear about that I think would be super interesting to explore.
So with here, as we know Qui-Gon teaches Obi-Wan how to be a ghost, and Obi-Wan post ROTS really blames himself about what happened to Anakin. But also, I feel like while it makes sense a lot is just rooted in the sadness of it...there would be SO MUCH anger and frustration that Obi-Wan would harbor at Anakin that he would repress with his guilt and self blame that I feel like it would need to be popped open to really let go of it all - acknowledge where he went wrong, but let go of his self blame and recognize that anakin's desicions were his own. to recognize that anakin was this dark, evil guy instead of pumping him up but also letting go of that hate. no more repression, letting it all flow, and letting it all go
And, always wondered what Obi-Wan would think of the tusken massacre, and since Qui-Gon viewed it as a ghost, this was a good point to bring a lot of this together. Obv in this one, its mostly one sided conversation Obi-Wan working through his self blame, but then his anger and resentment towards Anakin before resolving it, letting go of his baggage to be able to really start his path towards enlightenment and finding new purpose in Luke.
So, hope you liked it! If you have any ideas for interactions like these you might wanna see lmk, and I might be able to get to it I have ideas already logged up
Thx!

Whumpcember Day 9
Brainwashing
Spoiler: This is an excerpt from Never Walk Alone
Luke is waiting for him, unsurprisingly, but what catches Vader’s attention instantly are the minor lightning burns he has. “Who harmed you?” Vader demands, stilling.
Sidious wouldn’t have had any reason to hurt Luke. That doesn’t mean Vader would put it past him.
“I felt what was happening to you,” Luke replies. He looks as sick as he feels about it, and the Vader’s dread grows even farther. “It was… affecting me, too. I don’t understand how.”
Their connection is that strong? He didn’t know it was possible for that to happen, even if he can understand in theory how that could happen with such a strong Force bond. With how much Jedi shun attachments, it’s not as if he would ever know if his… bond with Obi-Wan could’ve become anything like this or not.
“You should not have been able to feel that,” Vader supplies finally. He needs to try harder to shield him the next time that happens – because it’ll be again, even if it’s not for a while. Sidious doesn’t electrocute him frequently. It takes a lot for his master to get that upset, like… right now. This is the fifth time Obi-Wan escaped him, to be fair.
“He shouldn’t have been able to do that!” Luke half-yells. “He can’t just hurt you and get away with it!”
“I failed his mission,” Vader replies, “There is now another powerful Jedi in training by Obi-Wan Kenobi.”
“I don’t care what excuse he had!” Luke yells, “That doesn’t give him the right to hurt you.”
Vader just stares at him, awkwardly, because he genuinely has no idea what to say to that. It’s just a fact of life, even if it’s not something Luke understands yet. It has always been a part of Vader’s life, and it was central to it, even when he still went by the name Anakin Skywalker. Nothing, in that regard, has really changed. “It is… expected,” Vader supplies, finally, “Sith do not fail their masters.”
He’s not used to people anymore. Anakin was. Vader is not. He doesn’t even understand Luke’s horror enough to address it. What is he even supposed to say to him about this? There’s not anything he has to offer. It’s who he is. Everyone does it. Obi-Wan did it when he failed. All his master’s have.
“I didn’t know Sith Master meant he was your master,” Luke says finally, a little quieter, though his horror is certainly no less, “I didn’t know it meant you were a slave.”
“I am not,” Vader argues instantly. …He can understand why Luke would think that, though. It does feel like it, far more than he wants to admit or even think about. But that’s never mattered, because he’s always had things of far more importance to worry about than himself.
“Then how could he do that?”
“It is complicated,” he answers. He didn’t want Luke to understand any of this. He wanted… Luke saw him as a hero, which he is not, and it would be unfair to make his child see him as anything other than exactly who and what he is, but he still wishes that illusion didn’t have to be shattered so soon.
“I don’t see how,” Luke scowls, “He’s awful to you for no reason. That’s not how you train me.”
As if he could ever dream of hurting his child. (He could never have hurt Ahsoka on Malachor either.) “That is… different. You are my son.”
“I don’t care if that’s the normal way Sith are trained. That doesn’t make it okay.”
Vader has… no idea what to say to him. He’s used to it, and he would be furious if someone was treating someone in his family that way, but it’s different for him because it always has been. He’s used to it. He doesn’t really… see why Luke is so upset about it.

Compassionately read moreing this yet unnamed twi'lek oc ramble I am using to avoid screaming in my house rn literally don't click on it unless you love words so so much
Anyway basically it's turning out way easier than I actually expected it to be to have this character I am conceptualizing and Maul manage to associate with each other frequently and closely during the clone wars and without it even being purely strategic and otherwise reluctant I mean. "They" definitely would have severe reservations with working together with a Sith especially when up to this point their philosophy in that regard has been "we need to cut their fucking heads off" but the clone wars overall is sort of an enworsening period for them and a "I don't actually give a fuck what the order says that much and they do not have the final say on what is and isn't morally acceptable" perspective shift era so like. If allying themselves with a FORMERRR Sith is what it takes to arrange for much needed aid on Ryloth they're going to be willing to go that far even if it requires having some part in his dumbass power plays and revenge fantasies in order for him to agree to it AND even if it ends up with them getting branded as 5x the traitor for being rumored or known to be working with Maul.
And Maul obviously has been shown to straight up not actually give a single shit about any of the actual resources that he has and what is done with them he's very practical about it and knows that it's necessary to maintain his position without feeling any sort of material greed over it all so he'd absolutely be willing to give their beloved Ryloth the support they are so desperate to find for it IN EXCHANGE for Become my apprentice. No. Become my apprentice. No. Become my apprentice. I said no. You will. No I won't kill yourself. All in due time...take part in my evil schemes. Fucking fine. But like really he so clearly believes if he finds someone else willing to Embrace the Dark and can train them up to his level he will be able to beat Sidious and take his place and overcome his humiliations once and for all that I feel like it really would not take much for him to entertain their demands and he is so borderline delusionally self assured that I just know he'd be certain that his male manipulator tactics will wear them down eventually (especially since it's not like they're outright trying to kill him or foil his plans otherwise.) Which they literally won't but like good luck telling him that.
Anyway I also not even necessarily intentionally gave them enough shit in common (and Maul is very clearly willing to at least broadly recount his tragic backstory) that even with their natural severe distrust and dislike for him I can also rationalize them having SOME sympathy in their too even if it doesn't materially change how they interact with him or anything lmao. Like not insignificant to their interactions would be the fact that they both come from a people that have been historically enslaved and were both I guess deprived of their own cultural identities by virtue of being taken away from their families as tiny babies and having no living relatives anymore (well savage might still be around at first but still) and I guess. Recent invasion of home planets? NOT that I think Maul would particularly care abt how that affects them or even like give a fraction of a shit about the nightsisters getting massacred Lmfao but I do definitely think he would lean into anything they happen to have in common with like. "Look how similar we are. Become evil NOW." intentions.
And also literally from the second they're caught even breathing in his direction its over for them there's no going back to "Jedihood" and they'd be essentially stuck with him (I mean look how crazy they went over Ahsoka without any real evidence) lmao BUT I feel like the inevitable appeals from any fellow Jedi they would happen to encounter asking them How They Could've Possibly Betrayed The Order And Fallen To The Dark Side (they didn't) And Become Maul's New Apprentice (ABSOLUTELY fucking didnt) would piss them off so bad that they wouldn't even care like Fuck you guys y'all have no idea what the fuck I got going on and you know what Maul actually makes sense sometimes . WHO said that.

What if? (P3)
Tumblr media
What if Anakin never broke our hearts?
What if Luke and Leia were raised together on Naboo and trained together as Jedi?
What if Luke went on to reform the Jedi laws and Leia rescued slaves from all around the galaxy?
This is what I think would happen:
Thanks for reading!!
Part 1
Part 2
The twins are both knighted at 21
Leia joins her father on his slave runs
Luke advocates for better Jedi laws, picking up where his parents left off
Obi-Wan, now retired from training Luke, officially leaves the order
And...since he's off the hook from Jedi laws, settles down and starts a family of his own
Ahsoka, after leaving Leia to join her father's slave runs, goes to find her own path; protecting force sensitive children (and adults) around the galaxy who are being persecuted because of their gift
Leia and Anakin, continue to rescue slave after slave
On time during a solo mission, Leia gets caught
Anakin is off on his own mission, unable to get there in time
Padme, though she knows Leia won't appreciate it, pays someone to rescue her daughter
He's not the most heroic or honorable person, but he was nearby and in in the area, and the only person available skilled enough
He's trustworthy enough to get her out quickly and safely
The man is a smuggler named Han Solo
For him the plan is simply get in, rescue the local princess, get out
But when he realizes she's not just a damsel in distress, but capable, snarky, a skilled pilot and mechanic...he can't help but fall in love
When he arrives she's scheduled for public execution
But according to her "she had it handled"
Just between them, she probably did
Leia doesn't care for him at first
His attitude puts her off, he's sarcastic, arrogant and annoying
But after he shows her that he really cares...she decides that maybe he's not that annoying, and perhaps his sarcasm is just a little attractive
Anakin and Padme don't approve of their relationship
They don't trust this cheating, lying, "promiscuous" man, not to mention he's ten years older than her
Han and Leia don't care, and elope together after only a year
Han takes on the name Amidala
A year later Ben Amidala-Solo is born
(Perspective check: Obi-Wan is 60, Anakin is 45, Padme is 49, Ahsoka is 40, Han is 35, and Luke and Leia are 25...and btw, Darth Vader died when he was 45, so Anakin became a grandfather when he would have died and that just warms my heart)
Sorry, back to the story
Leia retires the vigilante life when she finds out she's pregnant
Not one to remain idle, she turns her attention to politics instead
She follows in her mother's footsteps, soon becoming a senator of Naboo at only 26 years old
Han turns respectable with Padme's influence and his trade job flourishes with returning customer's praising his good work
Now to turn our attention to their son
Tumblr media
Ben struggled with nightmares as a child and rarely slept
He was awful as a baby, wailing the whole night through
He only got better as a toddler because he was afraid something would kill him if he made a noise
Every single night he would lie awake terrified
The nightmares are caused by the emperor trying to corrupt him even as an infant
Uncle Chewie tries to help, but he hasn't had much experience with children and especially not delicate non-furry children
Ben wails uncontrollably whenever Chewie holds him
His parents are the only ones who can console him
But Han and Leia are often busy, and rarely home
Han with trade jobs and Leia with diplomatic meetings
Honestly they never intended to have a kid, and while they don't regret having Ben, they were unprepared to take care of a child
Even though they are distant, Ben has a special bond with his mother who shares his connection to the force
The force is a sense of comfort for young Ben and his mother helps him-though subconsciously-access the force easier
Ben suffers from separation anxiety when she's not around
Han spends countless nights with Ben as a toddler, replaying recordings of Leia, to soothe his son to sleep when Leia wasn't there
On the days when both parents are gone, Ben goes to his Grandparents; Anakin and Padme
He also hangs out with Chewie...but much to his dismay, Ben is still scared of him for the first five years of his life
Ben loves his Grandparents dearly
Padme becomes a second mother to him
And Anakin forms a special bond with Ben because of the force
Ben is very strong in the force and while his mind is too clouded to find it himself, he can easily feel the positive force energy from his family
This is very calming and serves to ground young Ben's chaotic mind to reality
Ben continuously struggles with insomnia due to nightmares
He dreams of impending doom
And the death of thousands by his own hand
He feels frequently that he's inadequate, unworthy of love, or sometimes even that he's a monster
Throughout his childhood he he has low self-esteem and self-image, and he struggles with anxiety and depression
However, Padme senses something is wrong with her six year old grandson
She begins to recognize some of the signs that Anakin showed when he was struggling with fear and depression shortly before the twins birth
The nightmares, anxiety, impulsivity, and irritability
Most people brush it off, Ben has always been this way
But Padme approaches him and asks him if he's okay
He melts into her comforting presence and tells her everything; all about the nightmares, his fears and the voices in his head telling him he's not enough
Padme helps him feel less alone, and shows him how loved he is
She also realizes it may be something force related and turns to Anakin for further help
Anakin, (with Ben's permission) searches Ben's mind
There he finds Snoke's presence
Anakin protects Ben, forcing Snoke out of his mind
He also teaches Ben how to shield his mind from future attacks
Their happy boy emerges, and while he still has the occasional nightmare or bout of depression, and he may always be a little timid, he feels much happier without Snoke manipulating his thoughts...and with more sleep
Even when Han and Leia get restless and join Naboo's Airforce (Meaning they're often gone for weeks at a time) Seven year old Ben finds solace in the love of his grandparents
They help him understand why his parents leave, and make sure he feels loved
Han does try to be a good dad, and likes to teach Ben how to fix things, such as things around the house or even the Falcon
When he's gone for a long time he brings back a toy ship to build and play with together
When Ben was six years old he wandered into the Falcon searching for his dad
Han, absently asks Ben to pass him a wrench
After that becomes a sort of game, Han asking Ben for various tools-sometimes even ones he doesn't need- just to see Ben giggle and happily pick up the object in his chubby child hands, grinning ear to ear as he bounds over to his father
Han asks for Ben's help every time he has to fix the falcon, and Ben loves every second he gets to spend with his dad
Chewie also doesn't mind Ben's intrusion and although sometime he can get a little rough with Ben, he thoroughly enjoys the little boy's company
Honestly he's just happy that Ben isn't scared of him anymore
Although he pretends he's annoyed when Ben plays with his fur
Sometimes when Ben gets bored of that, Han gives him his golden dice to play with
He will spend hours lying down next to his father fascinated with the dice, until eventually he falls asleep (Often in Chewie's lap) and Han or Chewie has to carry him to bed
When Ben proves competent enough, Han lets him actually help instead of just passing him tools
By the age of eight, Ben is learned in the anatomy of a ship
Han buys some scrap and a broken ship to begins to fix it up together with his best friend and son
After a year of working on it, the ship begins to take shape
Anakin can't take it anymore and and decides to join in
"We can do better with this"
Anakin and Han bond over building the ship together and discover that they don't actually hate each other
This is the first time that they speak more than a few passing words to each other
Leia is relieve her father finally is getting along with her husband
The ship is completed when Ben is almost eleven years old
He wants to drive it himself and Han almost lets him...
But Leia is the voice of reason
She only allows him to be a passenger
That rule changes quickly however, and with the help of father, grandfather, Uncle Luke, and Uncle Chewie, his mother and grandmother relent within the year
By twelve he is flying his first ship (still with an adult's help)
And by fourteen he's allowed to fly the ship by himself (with an adult still on board)
At fifteen he's one of the best pilots on Naboo
He gets his official license by sixteen (and no longer has to fly with an adult)
He's a fairly responsible pilot (Padme's doing) though he does enjoy a good thrill ride
Not unexpected when you have Han and Anakin as your teachers
But despite what most people would think, Leia actually taught him the most about flying (Though Han and Ani did quite a bit)
At 17 he is gifted a new ship (He names it "Starflyer-base")
Ben is also maturing in other ways
He becomes Luke's Padawan
This is partly because he needs to learn how to control his power and so he can properly protect himself from Snoke and the influence of the darkside
But ultimately becoming a Jedi was his choice
(I'm sorry I didn't write about C3P-O and R2, I just didn't really know what to say about them. Assume they're just hanging out throughout all of this watching the chaos continue)
(I'm also only on season 2 of the clone wars, so if I left anyone out I'm sorry!!)
Thanks for Reading!!

@galeleads asked: Give me all the Anakin and Obi Wan brainrot. All of it Kai Munday Questions | Currently accepting.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This deserved a GIF reaction.
Anyway. I'm going to start with one thing: Obi-Wan and Anakin do not view each other in the same way at all. Obi-Wan didn't even know what to make of Anakin in the beginning, and he kind of just went with Qui-Gon's judgment because that's what he had to do. Anakin clearly attached himself to Qui-Gon, but he was kind of like, "I guess this guy is okay," when he met Obi-Wan. He's another Jedi. Cool.
Except Qui-Gon dies, and Anakin definitely just slots Obi-Wan into his place. Obi-Wan doesn't. We hear multiple times during the prequels how Anakin views Obi-Wan as his father, but Obi-Wan sees him as a brother. Based on their age difference, which is about 15 years, that makes sense. That sort of disconnect sets up part of their huge fallout in RotS. The love was there---they definitely loved each other as family would, and you can hear it in Obi's voice during his final scene with Ani. They just expected different things from each other.
But, they loved and respected each other so much. That's what makes Ani's fate so tragic (and why I hate Palpatine so much). They spent years training with each other, getting to know one another so thoroughly that they might as well have been brothers. They were essentially inseparable. You see this really play out in Clone Wars, honestly, and I love all of the back and forth banter we get with them. It is so clear that while they will sass each other to the end of time, they will also do literally anything for the other. Their trust kills me.
What I noticed during my watch of RotS was that Obi seemed pretty skeptical of the Jedi Council when it came to Ani. He's always been pretty against politics, but, when he saw what they were doing to his Padawan, someone clearly incredibly capable of becoming a Jedi Master even at his age, it didn't sit right with him. The movie obviously didn't come out with Clone Wars in mind, but I like to think what happened with Ahsoka also played a part. Anakin and Plo Koon were the only Jedi who really took Ahsoka's side during that whole debacle, and I think Obi really meditated on that after Ahsoka left.
The Jedi are all like, "Yeah don't form attachments. Attachment bad." Obi sucks at not forming attachments, and Ani is the biggest proof. Satine, Ahsoka, the Clones, and just about everyone else he meets are also proof, but it's especially clear with Ani. I mean, look at what he says to Yoda in RotS when there's undeniable proof that he killed younglings: he didn't want to kill him. He loved Ani with his whole heart. Of course he felt betrayed and hurt and in a great deal of grief, but he also couldn't kill someone he loved. And even after the duel finished, he couldn't land a finishing blow to Ani. Every other Jedi in his position would have. Not him.
I think Obi blames himself for Ani's fate too. Like, he logically knows Palpatine was a manipulative asshole, but he wasn't the one who trained Ani in the ways of the Force. That was all him. He even says to Ani that he failed him, so yeah. I think when he hears about Darth Vader and sees Ani alive again, that guilt just comes back. It probably never left, and it probably never will.
And god, he just keeps an eye on Luke in hopes he doesn't turn out the same way. Probably over-analyzing every interaction with him. He definitely did with Leia, who I know he was hoping would turn out like her mother. But, even when Luke's old enough, he lies about Ani's fate. He doesn't say Ani's still alive because the truth still hurts. The man he considered his friend, his brother, his fellow Jedi, is out there killing people across the galaxy. He's trying to let go of Ani and say he's dead, but I don't know if he was successful with that.
This was definitely a ramble, and I have no idea if I was coherent. I have a lot of feelings. Just. Obi-Wan loved Anakin so much, and Palpatine ruined it. First with ordering Darth Maul to kill Qui-Gon, and then with everything else. Like. Come on. I would've loved to see dad Qui-Gon with his two boys, Obi-Wan and Anakin. That would've been fabulous.
