hear me out, post-divorce girl!Dad Crowley
im not even kidding you guys, the best thing for Crowley after all this is just for him to be a girl Dad. Go find himself the weirdest most unhinged least likely up for adoption daughter to dump all his love onto. One who thinks snakes are awesome and who screeches happily when Crowley drives too fast and who thinks her Dad's the absolute coolest person on or off earth. She'll constantly be stealing his sunglasses or demanding her own pair so they match. No doubt she's obsessed with fungus and she probably draws the most fucked up stuff that Crowley then hangs around the flat, and she'll yell at the plants too with her hands on her hips. On nights after goofy dinners, Crowley will hoist her up on his shoulders and help her accurately place the glow-in-the-dark stars on her ceiling and softly answer every question she ever has. And it won't even phase her when sometimes her Dad is her Mom or her Parent for a while or vice versa.
And she'll be ready to full on throw hands with anyone who gives her Dad sad-face. She probably ends up biting Aziraphale when he eventually staggers back into the picture, and the Angel will have to contend with the fury of a real hellion for a while before she trusts him enough to let him anywhere near Crowley. Also i think her name should be Hanna.

even for period typical ableism it still drives me nuts for karen to go oh poor matt how can he deal and get around as if he hasn't been blind most of his life at this point and living on his own by himself as an adult for his entire adult life after college and has also lived in the city his whole life like girl use your damn brain he can get around by himself just fine. good god. like take five seconds to use your brain. literally adult man who lives by himself if nothing else that should tell you he is fine and when he needs assistance has the knowledge and ability to go get it you act as if he can't even walk on the sidewalk by himself. he literally shows up to work by himself. it drives me up the wall sometimes how she sees proof of him functioning fine independently literally witnesses it on the daily and still thinks these things. like again foggy isn't great either bc again the period typical ableism (and just general ableism in the world outside of this period as this is a common attitude of viewing disabled people as helpless and unable to function even if they are people who do live independently (and im not touching on people who do need extra support and caretaking in this context. as this post is about these characters in the context of a story. so im talking about what we see there instead of any truly meaningful nuanced way) but the writing here is like. Particularly this way due to the time) he has a modicum more of understanding that matt is literally a capable grown adult man. literally told karen matt is a big boy who can handle himself and then karen went b-b-but you forget he's blind as if foggy hasn't known him for years of his life and is his best friend like PLEASE SEE HIM AS AN ADULT. I AM GOING TO GO INSANE. PLEASE RESPECT HIM IF YOU LOVE HIM SO DEARLY. AND EVEN IF YOU DIDN'T. JUST RESPECT HIM AS A PERSON!!!!!!

The whole betrayal scene in 08.11 is astonishing.
The raw emotion from both of them and the dialogue. I think one line that will stick with me is “do you think I care for you so little that betraying me would make a difference?” Because, aside from a writing standpoint, it is such a genuine line. Clara and the Doctor’s relationship is this, it is betrayal and hurt yet trust, loyalty, and care.

Genuinely surprised that no one's written an Omega Light fic where he uses Alpha Matsuda as a sort-of beard because he's the only one Light trusts completely and who he believes would never betray him. He asks Matsuda to claim him because he's sick and tired of everyone bothering him about getting mated and it's very much a claiming of convenience and he tells Matsuda as much.... At least at first :)

If they’re scared, who do they want comfort from? Does this answer change depending on the type of fear?
😔 true to robi.n form, i think bruce would be the most likely answer. there's several times where dick is on the brink of death or terrified of something that he either calls out for batm.an or mentally wishes or apologizes to him.
it takes a lot for dick to even get to the point where he thinks he's going to die & where he's like a reasonable level of scared though. i went through so many comics where i knew he almost died and like 99% of them were just him going 'phew that was a close one' like 🫥🫥🫥. he's very analytical and still trying to figure a way out up until like, truly last breath and even then his inner monologue is something about having to keep pushing. but kinda tied to that, even if he's not thinking of bruce when he's scared, he's thinking of what he taught him (and he's never wrong 😭)
but in terms of like... inner fears, or fear of inadequacy or like fear of his own faults i would reverse that and say not bruce. like i think b is very good at getting dick to push himself further & his praise means a lot to him, but i think a very real fear of his is who he will be without his father's approval. and in that regard, it's gotta be titan.s. in general like every titan has a very unique relationship with the others, but specifically i think donna, kory and roy would probably be chart toppers there. all of them a mix between comforting his fears and varying degrees of helping him realize that he is worthy regardless.
i'd also say alfred is very, very good at both motivating dick & comforting dick when he's scared (especially of taking the next big step or living up to bruce's image). biggest example there is battle for the cow.l where dick was so determined not to hurt bman's legacy by taking over in his death, and alfred being the one to help him realize that he's needed and he will do as he always does, a good job.

There’s so much I love about Jack Stauber’s Opal but one thing that hits really hard is the depiction of the father, and the way emotional abuse and neglect is portrayed. He’s got the most abstract design, being constantly surrounded by mirrors as a way of showing how he’s so insecure about how he looks and behaves that he’s become insanely self absorbed and can’t see anything other than himself. And as he talks to Claire he’s really just monologging while constantly tripping over his own words and projecting his insecurities onto her absolutely unprompted. You can also see the way he views himself as a savior, the way he pats himself on the back for taking time to talk to his daughter, the way the man he sees in the mirror looks much prettier than the real thing, the fact he says god is in his skin and he’s granting the world its next new savior. All while not letting Claire talk, all while spending the whole conversation invested in himself, all while doing nothing to stop the grandfather from harming her and even getting upset when she runs away, asking if she knows how it makes him feel. It’s too damn real
