i know there’s a case to be made for daring suffering some character flanderization in his later appearances, but i like to think the break up with lizzie was just THAT bad.

concerning Hetty
I know Hetty isn't really an aspect of the show I have addressed before, largely because I've been focused on Jack & Belle and Jack & Fagin, but I did want to share a thought. Obviously it is heavily implied that Hetty is in love with Jack (which he does not seem to even notice, much less reciprocate), and as sad as that is for her character (she's just like a genuinely good person who has done nothing wrong, just not been the right person at the right time), I think there is one particular phrasing in all of this that has kept me from feeling too crushed for her.
When she talks to Jack about love, she tells him, "You've never really loved anyone, have you? You peel the skin off your heart and it always hurts, no matter what you do," and the implication of this is very much, imo, that Hetty has loved (romantically) before Jack, and not only does she have the capacity to love again after him, she already knows this about herself, too. Jack being someone Hetty falls in love with, but not her first love, and very easily not her last, is a comfort, imo. She obviously isn't at peace with her feelings for Jack yet, but she absolutely feels like a character that can and will get over him, and that makes me feel happy for her, because not everyone is like that.
Some people really never do get over their first love, but I believe Hetty already has long before she met Jack, and I believe she absolutely will do so again with him as well, that one day she will look back at her love for Jack as a distant memory of her youth, nothing less, nothing more. That's how I choose to interpret her words, and since we're unlikely to ever get any concrete confirmation on this particular topic, that's how I'm going to continue to look at her character- someone strong enough and kind enough to have several beautiful loves pass through her life and still be open to loving again.

People like to make koala sabos keeper in fanon and while we haven't seen much of her in canon it's the same mom friend/pure lesbian bff thing fandom does to women close to their male blorbos and it's kinda misogynistic
I think as an escaped child slave koala should be even more vindictive and violent than sabo. She just yells at him because hes impulsive and going to GET THEM CAUGHT YOU ASSHOLE

I live! And I'm writing a fic
Hello, everyone! :) I've re-started the process of moving this blog over to a side blog (@darkeneddawning) when I have time. End goal is to have all my art and stuff from here over there, so my main blog (this one) can be used for everything. The side blog will be where I post new phandom art and stuff.
Hopefully the transfer isn't too confusing for everyone. If you want to follow me to see my phandom art and stuff, you might want to wait until my side blog is all caught up, or you'll be spammed with me reblogging all of my old art over there for the next while. I'll announce on this blog when it's done and wait at least a week so people have time to unfollow this blog if they don't want my reblogs of everything I like to clutter up their dashes.
But I'm too impatient to wait until I'm done with that before I start posting again, so here's a blurb from the DP x DC Circus Gothica crossover fic I'm writing! It's going to be a while before I can post it since I've got a lot going on and I'm a very slow writer so far, but I'm hoping posting about it will keep me motivated to continue working on it :)
It's not a very long blurb, but I'll put it under a read more anyway (along with a synopsis of the fic):
Fic synopsis:
Wait, but if I’m mind controlled, and you’re mind controlled, then who’s catching the evil ringmaster??
Jason wasn’t expecting to join the suspicious circus he was investigating on Dick’s behalf, but a day in found him planning a heist with his new posse of co-slaves. At least getting in on the action gave him the answers he was looking for, as well as some others to questions he’d forgotten he was still asking.
Or: A new circus rolls into Bludhaven, trailing a history of too many pilfered towns to be a coincidence. Dick asks Jason to look into it on account of Dick’s circus related trauma. Jason was expecting to find evidence, not a one-way ticket to minion town, or a mysterious boy who somehow calmed the insatiable waters of the pit. Who is this boy, and what can he teach Jason about himself?

Though he felt compelled to come, he didn’t know what was wanted of him now that he was here.
“This area is off limits to guests. Can I help you?”
That reaper kid from the performance, head attached, was looking at Jason with a raised brow. The same Red color that was swirling around Jason’s brain occupied the kid’s irises. Now he was up close, Jason could see how the kid’s stage eyeliner was only a slight enhancement to the genuine dark circles under his eyes. With those in addition to the gaunt hollowness of his cheeks, the kid looked like he hadn’t slept in years.
Jason smiled. It wasn’t a natural smile, but the Red liked it. “I’m here to, uh… cross over to the dark side?” That was all the Red was giving him to work with.
Reaper kid squinted at him, then drew back in surprise. “Woah, I totally thought you were human. Is that a disguise?” he asked, walking up to Jason.
“Disguise?” Jason glanced down at his body like it would clue him in to what reaper kid was talking about. He looked plenty human to himself. “What else would I be?” Was this important to the Red’s mission? Red was starting to feel a little more impatient.
“Uh, you know,” the kid gave a dismissive hand wave, but clarified: “Dead?”

thank you for all your advice on my post!! i’m curious if you think it’s better to read stormlight or mistborn era 2 first. i hate spoilers and love big reveals but i also love when series are intertwined. do you think it’s worth it to read stormlight first then to get that experience? i appreciated this insight!
i think if you're endeavouring to read all of one and then all of the other, absolutely stormlight before era 2!
however, stormlight is a monster and might be a slog to read all at once, so there's nothing wrong with interleaving them. in fact, you'll only catch that reveal at the end of rhythm of war if you've read bands of mourning and secret history first. so... really, in whatever order you want, as long as you leave the lost metal until the end, with bom/sh before row for an optional treat.
i think the secret is worth preserving the first time around since you'll get the experience of knowing on the reread (and there probably will be a reread. stormlight is detail dense and really rewarding to go over again when the urge strikes)

Sera isn't grumpy so much as she is disinterested and dismissive. She heads to work without bothering to make small talk besides a basic "Hello." if she passes you by. Not the worst outcome, really, if silence doesn't bother you.

She is down at the kitchen in a bathrobe by 9 to eat some breakfast.#Which made her the unknowing first victim of Vincent's newly founded pyramid scheme#Amon is a late riser since he is still used to his old schedule from his time at the Ricciardi mafia. Sleeps late? wakes late!#If it's a weekday he will always be up at 6 AM regardless of the amount he slept to take Adra to school.#Eric tends to wake up early but often gets caught up in personal projects. He loves music and editing his tracks but it really eats his tim#So Eric will be going to sleep at 4 and see Sera making herself coffee whilst Nate is also coming home from work and crashing on the couch.#Not even Amon heads in that late. #it feels like at this moment i'm mourning the loss of someone who left this earth 15 years ago#the realisation of the severety of the situation is dawning on me only just now#i was 13 when it happened and i didn't have anyone to talk to about it so i didn't get to mourn#time has finally caught up with me. the loss hitting me at full force#and realising he's the reason i took up photography and my urge to capture as many moments as i can#i feel absolutely wrecked at the moment. i can't stop the tears from falling and memories from reliving#i feel so sad for the child in me who had to push this all down to cope too. that's heartbreaking in and of itself#i hope i can catch a breath soon and go to sleep before i'm still awake to watch the sun rise

you ever watch an entire video essay and come out of it literally not knowing what the conclusion was meant to be, and find yourself yearning for like 2017 when it didnt feel like everyone and their nan were making video essays?

We're super busy at work with some private files, which is a good thing because money and also it keeps my mind distracted from life, but also it's a LOT right now and with everything going on it's a bit overwhelming. I'm at least glad that my first few months at this job were pretty chill because if it was this crazy when I'd started it would have been a bad time.

I missed an important anniversary of mine!
#no wonder i've been thinking about it lately lol#i didnt even realize it was the year anniversary..#of the mario teaches typing post!#ok its not actually when i first posted but it is when i added the addition of proof of him actually saying it#and it is when it started getting notes#i genuinely dont know if 40k notes is considered a lot or a big deal on social media but to me it is#because nothing like that has ever happened to me before lol#i was very very caught off guard and feeling shy#but it wasnt bad it was very good and it had a big impact on me#1. i took his advice to heart and started trying harder to be nice to people#2. my notifs were filled with people saying they were crying and they were so happy and i tmade me smile every time i read it#especially because i suffer from mental illness even more than i could ever convey to anyone and it was such a comfort..#3. it got people to love and appreciate mario and charles#it got ME to love and appreciate mario even more tbh#i already loved him but just hearing it again and thinking about it more deeply#that mario at his core and essence is love and joy#AAACJJJCJ like hes complex hes a human being he has a lot to him#but his essence will always be love and joy..#and i should strive to be like him. charles is so fecking correct#unfortunately sometimes i wake up hating everyone and everything and im really impatient#but i try my best
