Timeless Wells- Oneshot (Flash)
Tumblr media
When he’d first returned. He was ecstatic to venture the world. He’d lost so much due to the past. But he’d gotten a second chance. He told himself that he’d go back. To the very beginning. Although he could travel through time, he couldn’t alter anything. So when he first saw you working, he was determined to finally have his happily ever after.
“Dr. Wells, the CCPD is here to take your statement.”
He nodded at his employee.
“Let them in.”
The male stepped to the side, letting the detective in.
“Dr. Wells, (Y/N) Morgan. My officers are outside questioning your employees that were present when the item was stolen. Is there anything about Mr. Davis that you can tell me? Every bit of information would help.”
For a moment he just gazes at you. Basks in the light. It had been so long since he saw your face. There was a part of him that somehow knew he’d died the minute he lost you.
“Dr. Wells are you alright?” You took a step closer, inspecting him for injuries.
“Did Mr. Davies attack you?”
Harrison blinked.
“Oh, no no. I’m fine.” He gave a little laugh, running his hand down his tie.
“I apologize I just..” He paused, eyes still very much trained on you.
“You’re just so beautiful..” It was said wistfully. A bashful expression crossed your face, and he took a much needed step back.
“Sorry! Sorry that was unprofessional. You’re supposed to be helping me and I’m distracting you. There is not much more I can provide about him other than the security footage that we reviewed. I’m sorry we can’t be more helpful.” You clear your throat, sliding your hands in your pockets.
“It’s alright. If you think of anything else. Please don’t be afraid to reach out. You have my contact information.”
“Yes, if anything comes to mind I’ll be sure to call. “
For a moment, you both just stand there.
You’ve known Harrison Wells for years. The man was labeled a genius by many. He was successful, handsome and apparently not that bad of a guy. None of your paths had ever crossed until today. You never thought much of him until you stepped through that door. As a detective, gut feelings have always been an aid in your life. That’s why the second you saw him in person, it felt..strange. He kept staring at you like you’d met before, and something about his presence felt almost powerful.
He was a billionaire, so that should have been expected.
But this was different.
You gaze at him, almost trying to figure him out.
“I’ll keep an eye on him.”
It’s not like he had set off any red flags. But you needed to figure out this particular mystery. Right after you found his gear.
“Have a good day Dr. Wells.”
“Yes! You too.” He offered a charming smile, and you turned, exiting the room.
~~~~
“Detective Morgan, always good to see a friendly face.”
You grin at the CSI officer.
“Mr. Allen, how is little Nora? Is she missing her favorite aunt?”
“Always.” He laughs. He looks a little preoccupied, but you can’t help but broach the question.
“Hey Barry, can I ask you something?” He looks intrigued now. You gesture to your office, and he follows. When he closes the door, he’s invested.
“Have you made any progress on the missing tech at star labs?”
He shook his head.
“No. Thankfully all that was stolen is a supercharged battery. It’s good to power a car at most, but not much else. It’s one of the newer modifications Star Labs has been working on. The charger inside allows a car to run with the battery for days and its solar charge. So as long as there’s a signal, the vehicle can go for weeks. My guess is this thief was just trying to make a quick buck.”
You nod, pulling a pen off your desk absentmindedly as you bounce it on your leg.
Barry tilted his head at the reaction.
“Why does it feel like you’re not as concerned about this criminal?”
He’d seen through that quickly. Not that you were surprised.
“How much do you know about Harrison Wells?” You can just see the excitement rise into his eyes.
“Enough to know the man is a revolutionary genius!”
Maybe Barry was the wrong person to ask. He was obviously biased.
“I know he’s the victim, and I don’t really get the vibe that he would set up his employee to steal something like this just to make more money. He’s literally swimming in wealth just by breathing.”
“So if he’s not a suspect, why are you so suspicious?”
You bite the inside of your cheek. You briefly contemplate telling him at all. If you were being honest it would only be a matter of time before he found out. Because you were going to bring this up with Iris whenever you both had free time anyway.
“Today in the office he was acting a little weird. That’s why I thought he was possibly in on it and just trying his best to distract me.”
“Weird how? What exactly did he say?”
“He said I was beautiful.” Your eyes are narrowed like you’re trying to solve some elaborate mystery.
Barry’s expression is blank for a moment, like he’s waiting for the punchline. It never comes.
“Are you kidding me! A guy compliments you and you immediately assume he’s a criminal.”
“W-What! No I-I…It was a gut feeling!!” You defend. Barry just begins laughing, and you frown.
“If you’re not going to help you might as well leave!!”
So he does, snickering on his way out. It earns some looks from your coworkers, and you roll your eyes.
Last time you rely on Barry for help.
~~~
“Can I have one coffee please.”
The barista gives a smile, and you move to take a seat as you wait for your order to be called. Your focus diverts to your cellphone as you scroll through messages from reports.
“Detective Morgan?” Your eyes lift at the familiar voice. Just then your order is called, and he’s standing at the counter. He nods to the barista who hands him the coffee with a smile. Harrison moves over to your seat. You simply watch as he places it down.
“Thank you.”
“No problem. Would you mind if I joined you?”
“Not at all.” He pulls out a chair, and you pocket your phone.
“Unfortunately we haven’t made much progress on your case. We’ve set up some interference in case he tries to sell it within the city. But if he’s already fled, then it makes it a bit more difficult. My contacts in DC are keeping me updated. “
Harrison smiles.
“I appreciate you working so diligently on my behalf.”
“It is my job.” You point out. He’s still wearing that warm smile that sort of disarms you. Because those eyes hold something akin to adoration and you’ve literally only spoken to this man once in your life. You weren’t such a naive soul to believe in something like love at first sight.
“Detective I was actually wondering if you would like to-”
You jump when you hear the glass at the door shatter. A canister rolls in, and you immediately go into fight mode.
“Everyone get done, cover your faces!!”
Your yell echoes, and a few of them react as instructed. But others aren’t so quick. The smoke is blinding, and instinctively you reach for your gun, but the second it’s within grasp, it’s flung out of your hand. You’re struck right in the stomach, and you grunt when your body hits the floor harshly.
“Nice try.” A male voice says.
People in the area are coughing, and you try to cover your face as you search for your weapon on the floor.
“Detective!!”
Harrison is calling for you, but you're still trying to gather your wits. You're still trying to pick yourself off the floor. Someone beats you to it. You’re grabbed by the back of your hair, yanked off the floor. Your cry of pain catches Harrison’s attention. Through the smoke and chaos his eyes catch your predicament, and anger rushes through his veins. You aren’t really sure how to explain what happens next. One minute you’re fighting in jitters, the next, you witness an explosion of green particles.
Your legs land on solid ground and you gasp.
“What the hell!!”
That sounds like the voice of your assailant. Your head whips to the back, and standing there is the very criminal you all had been searching for. He’s decked down in black clothing holding your gun in his hand and it’s pointed at Harrison.
“DR. WELLS!!”
You’re startled that he isn’t begging for his life, or even trying to run. His glare is fixated on Mr. Davies, and the man pulls the trigger to your horror. The bullet however does connect. The weapon disappears in those similar green sparks. When it reappears, Harrison is holding it in his hand. The bullet hits Davies right in the knee, and he drops to the ground in a cry of pain. You’re shocked, confused, relieved? You simply gape. There’s nothing else that really can be done. None of this really makes sense. When Harrison’s gaze finally moves to you, there’s relief, and a spec of guilt. Whatever this is. He has some serious explaining to do.
~~~
“Thanks Barry.”
He pats your shoulder.”
“I’m glad you’re okay.”
After finally gathering yourself, you managed to call back up. The street you stood on was now filled with at least three police cars and an ambulance. Harrison was giving his statement to the police. At least the altered version.
You’d given him specific orders after what you witnessed.
“Don’t say a word.”
It’s somewhat of a hiss. A warning.
You sound irritated, and also scared. He understands. He also knows the only reason you aren’t letting him expose his identity is so as to avoid a panic.
Harrison says nothing, simply nods.
The story was that you were both drugged and taken to this spot. It was pretty believable considering the circumstances. As you watch him from across your view, there is so much that needs to be said. But you can’t exactly apprehend him now in front of everyone and ask how he dissolved not just his body but your own as well as the criminal’s. None of this truly makes sense. When his eyes finally find you, it’s almost like he understood.
You would be waiting for that explanation.
~Later~
The knock on your door is as expected. You place your glass down, moving to open the door. Harrison is standing on the other side with a weak smile. You step aside, and he walks in. He adjusts his glasses. A nervous tick that you’ve picked up on.
For a while there is nothing but silence.
Harrison breaks it.
“You protected me.”
You scoff.
“Do you really think anyone would believe it if you told them what happened? I was saving myself paperwork.” He offers a smile.
“So I gave you a cover. Explain it to me. How the hell did you do that!”
You have a right to yell at him. You have no idea what’s going on and it terrifies you.
“In the simplest terms, I’m a time traveler. I can go back and forth through time.” You laugh, but there is no humor in there.
“You really expect me to believe that time travel is real.”
“You saw it with your own eyes.”
“I don’t know what I saw! For all I know you could have drugged me! Maybe you’re running some kind of scheme with your buddy Davies. The only reason he came after me is because my little interference put a block in his plans. Be straight with me, you both were accomplices and you used some kind of drug on me.”
Harrison takes a step closer, and you tense.
Your head is saying that you need to be weary, on guard. Because you still can’t explain what you saw.
Your heart however, that is the part that isn’t acting the way it should. The closer he gets, the faster the wave of beats seems to echo. Except this isn’t fear.
It’s something completely different.
“You feel it too, don’t you?”
“W-What are you talking about?!”
Harrison reaches for you, and rather than run away, you just stand there. His palm lands on your cheek, and you feel like the air has been squeezed out of you.
“I thought that I consciously made the decision to be here with you, but I think time led me here. Because we’re connected. “
“I-I barely know you..”
His smile is solemn.
“I know.”
You aren’t sure why his somber words make you feel so sad. Somehow your body just reacts, and you take a step forward, gripping his suit as you kiss him earnestly. Harrison is taken by surprise. You feel the way he tenses. But the longer your lips are pressed to his, the faster he falls into sync with your movements. You back him up, and he hits a wall with a soft grunt. You wish there was some way you could explain what was happening.
Why kissing this stranger felt like absolute heaven. But it didn’t make sense.
Nothing about this situation made any sense.
Yet, for some reason, at that moment you didn't even care.
Because this somehow feels..right.
Title: Good Boy [AO3]
Characters: Alison/Mike, Robin, Thomas, Julian & Fanny
Prompt: A fic about Alison, Mike and Robin after Robin saves Mike and Mike sees him. - Prompt sent in by the lovely @harrisonwells
Prompts are closed.
————
Good Boy
“Robin’s room is upstairs, right? The rundown one that’s drafty?”
Alison looked up from their latest electricity bill.
“You do know that describes about every single room in this house, right?” she pointed out. When Mike gave her a look, she sighed. “Yes, it’s the one upstairs. Why? Is something wrong with it? Despite the obvious, that is.”
Instead of answering her question, Mike hummed thoughtfully to himself. “And Robin’s obsessed with the moon, right?”
“Yes, Mike, as you very well know,” Alison said with a hint of impatience, not understanding what he was getting at. “What’s with all the questions?”
Mike flashed her his most charming, innocent smile and Alison immediately knew she wouldn’t like whatever he’d say. “Promise me you won’t be mad?”
She sighed. “What have you done?”
“Nothing!” Mike hurried to reassure her. “I promise! But I’ve been thinking – Robin saved my life, didn’t he? Last week when I was out in the storm.”
“Because of the stupid bear,” Alison couldn’t help but remind him.
“Yeah, whatever,” Mike said with a roll of his eyes. “So when he redirected the lightning I saw him for a brief moment and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about that.”
Alison felt her eyes soften. “Oh Mike, why didn’t you say anything?”
“No, it’s not like that,” Mike waved her worry away. “I know we’ve thanked him for what he did but with the gatehouse burning down and the whole insurance mess it feels like we haven’t really appreciated it enough, you know?”
Thinking back to the last few days, Alison had to admit he had a point. They’d been crazily busy this past week trying to figure out their whole life all over again, and while a part of her was relieved they agreed the gatehouse might not have been a good idea in the long run, the decision not to host guests anymore felt a lot like they were back at square one – financial struggles and worries included. Robin’s heroic deed might not have gone unnoticed but Mike was right: it hadn’t gotten the attention it deserved.
“So what’s the plan?” she asked.
Mike pulled her against his side with a grin. “Giving him the moon and stars.”
————
It took a few days to get everything organised. While Mike was in charge of getting all the necessary things (Alison tried not to grimace when she saw how much it all cost) and setting everything up, her main task was to keep Robin busy and far away from his room.
“So … how’s your mouse family doing?” she asked Robin the day they planned to put their plan into action and inwardly winced. Judging by the incredulous looks both Julian and Thomas – who happened to be in the room at the time – were giving her the question sounded as painfully awkward as it felt.
Robin, thank god, frowned at her for an entirely different reason. “Mice grow fast. Babies are all grown up now.” The words, You should know that, went unspoken.
“What a shame,” Alison lied through her teeth as she desperately tried to think of another way to get him out of the house for the day. “I’ve got a little time now and would have loved to meet them.”
To her surprise, Robin perked up at that. He jumped up from his seat by the chessboard and, his eyes bright with boundless excitement and enthusiasm, said, “I can show you fox family!”
Alison blinked. “We have foxes here?”
“Why do you think the grounds aren’t overrun with the hares the Captain is so fond of fake-killing?” Thomas asked from the sofa, raising an eyebrow.
Robin pointed at him as if to say, See? He knows.
“I don’t know, Thomas, maybe because Barclay real-shoots them all?” Alison suggested, an edge of annoyance creeping into her tone. She regretted it immediately when Thomas winced and covered his wound.
“Foxes, eh?” Julian said, bringing the conversation back on track. He got to his feet with a groan. “Can’t say I wouldn’t prefer Samantha Fox but beggars can’t be choosers. So lead the way, ape. It’s not like we have anything better to do anyhow.” He looked at Thomas. “You coming?”
Thomas hesitated for a moment, his eyes darting up to Alison before dropping back down to his shoes again.
“Come on,” Robin gently encouraged him. “Cubs have grown much since last time we saw them. They out of the den now!”
A little of the tension around Thomas’s eyes bled away when he looked at Robin. “Really?”
Robin nodded. “Dreamer still stay close to his mother but Bella love to explore.”
“And Cleo?” Thomas asked.
“Still the runt of the litter but oh, very feisty,” Robin said with a great.
Thomas breathed out a laugh and it was with a start that Alison realised they regularly observed the local wildlife together. She’d had no idea but it made her heart feel a little lighter. Thomas spent so much time on his own she sometimes worried he’d lose his connection to the other ghosts. Knowing he was off to the woods with Robin during some of the time she’d always believed him to be sulking somewhere was a welcome revelation and relief.
“You named them?” Julian asked, interrupting her thoughts. Both Robin and Thomas turned to look at him, silently daring him to make fun of them, and he groaned. “Of course you did. I swear you two are just as bad as Fanny.”
From somewhere within the house, an offended Fanny shouted, “I heard that!”
————
By the time they came back from their little excursion in the woods, it was late and Alison couldn’t feel her toes anymore. She’d underestimated how much time, effort and patience it took to get even a glimpse at wild animals. The ghosts, of course, didn’t have to worry about where they were stepping but she had to be careful around all the dry twigs and branches barely visible under the layers of dead leaves covering the forest floor.
In the end, it was worth it, though. She’d never seen a wild fox with her own eyes before and watching the three little ones play under the watchful eye of their mother was incredible and so much better than any nature documentary on TV. Both Robin and Thomas’s faces lit up with awe when the cubs first stuck their tiny noses out of the den, and even Julian couldn’t help but smile when Cleo, clearly the boldest, raced around the small clearing chasing a butterfly.
The sun was just setting as they made their way back to the house where Mike was already waiting for them. “Where’ve you been?”
“Oh, just in the woods, watching Robin’s fox family,” Alison said with a smile. Under the pretence of giving him a kiss, she whispered, “Is everything ready?”
Mike’s eyes lit up and he nodded. Alison gave him a subtle thumbs-up before she turned back to the ghosts. “Robin? Would you come with us upstairs for a moment?”
Robin, after sharing a confused look with Julian and Thomas, shrugged. “Okay.”
They went upstairs, and when Mike stopped in front of Robin’s door, Robin cocked his head to the side in a confused way that reminded Alison of a mangy but trusting dog. “This is my room.”
Alison bit her lip to hide her smile. “Robin says we’re at his room.”
Mike nodded and turned to look at where he thought Robin was – a little too far to the left and too high up in the air. “Yeah, that’s right. See, Ali and I, we’ve been talking about the day the storm hit and you saved my life, and we wanted to thank you for that.”
Furrowing his brows, Robin glanced at Alison. “But – you already did. Said, Thank you, Robin. Me remember.”
“He says we already thanked him,” Alison told Mike.
“Well, yes,” Mike said. “But not, like, properly. You redirected freaking lightning for me, mate, and I saw you! That was so cool!”
Robin, Alison noticed, looked a little flustered under Mike’s praise.
“Was no big deal,” he mumbled, scratching his ear.
“It was, though,” Alison corrected him gently, wishing she could actually reach out to him. “It was a huge deal, Robin.”
“Still is,” Mike added. “And that’s why we planned a little surprise for you. I really hope you’ll like it.”
With that, he opened the door to Robin’s room and stepped aside. Robin’s mouth went slack when he saw the glow-in-the-dark stars spread out all over the ceiling. They weren’t randomly placed, Alison realised after a moment. She could see Orion above the area where Robin usually slept, and Cassiopeia right above the window.
“Mary,” Robin whispered suddenly and pointed at one of the stars that seemed to glow just a little bit brighter.
Swallowing around the sudden and unexpected lump in her throat, Alison told Mike, “He just found Mary.”
Mike’s eyes softened and he stepped into the room, somehow managing to avoid running into Robin.
“Annie’s there, too. See?” He pointed at another star, not far from Mary’s, and Robin’s eyes followed him. “And here’s William though to be honest I have no idea who that is. And Graham – also no clue.”
“Not true!” Robin said with a laugh that sounded just a little teary. “Armour downstairs is Graham’s.”
Alison blinked.
“Really? How come I didn’t know that?” At Mike’s questioning look, she explained, “Robin says the armour downstairs used to be Graham’s.”
“He never fall over with it like Mike did,” Robin snickered under his breath. Alison decided not to relay that bit to Mike.
“So, I take it he likes the stars?” Mike asked.
Robin nodded.
“He does. Very much so.”
“Great!” Mike said. “Because I’ve got another surprise for him.”
He reached up to touch something anchored to the ceiling and a second later, a moon lamp lit up and bathed everything in pale yellow light. Robin’s eyes widened in awe and he breathed out a reverent, “Moonah.”
“Go on, try turning it off and back on again,” Mike encouraged him with a grin.
Robin’s eyes lit up with giddy excitement before he closed them in concentration. His powers had grown since the lightning strike and it took him barely a moment to switch the lamp off and then back on again. He opened his eyes and let out a gleeful laugh. “Ha! Me did it!”
“Yes, that’s it!” Mike cheered at the same time. “Now you’ve got your own moon and night sky!”
His words gave Robin pause. Alison wished Mike could see him because his eyes were shimmering with so much gratitude in the faint glow of the moon that it took her breath away. He seemed to be itching to reach out to Mike but since he couldn’t, he bowed his head and said, very quietly, “Thank you.”
“No, Robin – thank you,” Alison whispered with a heartfelt smile.
Mike nodded und pulled her close. “Yeah, thank you. You’re the best.”
With a pleased look on his face, Robin sat down on the floor, right under the moon. “Me good boy.”
Chuckling a little wetly, Alison nodded. “Yes, you are.”
They bid him goodnight, and when Mike closed the door behind them Alison leaned up on her tiptoes to press a kiss to the corner of his mouth and whispered, “Well done, you.”
“Well done both of us,” Mike smiled. “Though I’m low-key jealous you got to see baby foxes.”
Alison patted his arm. “I’m sure Robin won’t mind taking you to see them tomorrow. You’re probably his most favourite person in the world right now, so …”
The pleased smile on Mike’s face almost made her add, “Good boy.”
Harry Wells Earth 2 (Flash) -Oneshot
Tumblr media
To be honest you should have suspected something was wrong from the beginning.
You worked for a security company. When you were requested for a job, it wasn’t that strange. Your boss however said the company that asked for your assistance wanted you specifically by name. Which was a little weird. You weren’t a terrible employee. But you weren’t great enough for someone to request you by name.
Nevertheless, you took the gig. The pay was pretty good. After finding out it was at Star Labs, it sort of made sense.
The explosion that happened years ago left a lot of people on edge. So of course they would have to raise the price if they wanted anyone even stepping foot in that building. Getting there was easy. While Cisco Ramon was giving you the tour, you kept your eyes open for just about anything.
By the time you made it to the cortex, you waited patiently to figure out why exactly they needed your services. The lab looked pretty high tech already. So security really didn’t seem necessary.
“Thank you for taking the job. I’m Barry Allen. I own Star Labs now. This is Caitlin, and Iris. “ Barry introduced . They all greeted you with smiles. However, there was another man in the room behind the glass that looked like a medical area. His back was to you, a cap on his head. He was pacing back and forth.
“It’s nice to meet you all. I’d like to get right to it.”
Barry suddenly looked a bit unsure. He rubbed the back of his neck. Cisco’s eyes shifted and Caitlin offered a smile.
“Can we get you anything, a glass of water?”
You narrow your eyes.
“I’m alright.”
The man in the other room finally came walking out and he looked annoyed.
“Would you all just stop beating around the bush!” He moved his hat, and you took a step back. You couldn’t believe what you were seeing. Even for Central City this was crazy.
“H-Harrison Wells..”
This didn’t make sense. He was supposed to be dead. Better yet, didn’t he confess to murdering Barry Allen’s mother?
“What’s going on!”
This was not what you expected at all. You were ready to hightail it out of there.
“Okay, I know this is going to sound crazy but you’re..well you are..” Barry was fumbling over his words.
“Damn it Allen!” Harrison moves over to you lifting his watch and when the red light begins to blink, you’re weary.
“You’re a meta human.” The information hits you like a ton of bricks.
“T-That’s impossible..”
Barry lets out a sigh.
“We didn’t hire you for your expertise in security. I need you to help me with my speed.” Barry pleads.
“Your speed?”
He nods, and you feel the wind smack you in the face. He’s right in front of you again, this time wearing the red and golden suit that you’ve seen around the city saving lives. This was a lot to process.
From that one action, Barry looked exhausted. He braced his hand on a table and Iris moved to his side.
“I know this seems crazy. It probably doesn’t make sense, but right now you’re the only one who can help me. We’ve tried just about everything. Please.” You shake your head.
“I’m sorry but I can’t help you. I’m not a meta, you have the wrong person.”
They can’t fight the disappointment on their faces. You don’t stick around. You’re practically running out of there.
Learning the truth was a bit painful. But you knew what you had to do.
 You need to leave Central City.
Most of your family had already left. After the incident your parents practically pleaded that you go with them, but you declined. You wanted to figure this all out on your own. But now, everything is different.
Being a meta human in this city was a curse.
In the last four hours, you’ve quit your job, texted your landlord about your lease and bought a plane ticket to New York.
It’s possible because of the impromptu plans that you might get stuck at an airport for the night, but you could live with that.
Shoving your clothes into your suitcase, you only pause when you hear the knocking at your door. Your brows furrow as you move over, opening it. The sight of Harrison Wells makes you uneasy.
“How did you even find me?”
“That’s simple, on Earth 55 you come from a family of speedsters. Basically I  tracked the address from that universe and made an educated guess.”
You frown. The more he speaks the less you seem to understand.
“What do you want?”
“I was nominated to give you a pep talk.”
“Are you being sarcastic?”
“No, I’m serious.”
You didn’t have time for this. You shut the door in his face. Turning the lock, you head back to packing. At least you try. A portal opens right in front of you, and you want to scream, but you just freeze up. Harry jumps through the portal and it closes right after.
“That was very rude.”
“W-Wha- Get the hell out of my house!!”
“Not until you listen. It’s not just the faith of this city that’s in danger. The world needs the Flash.”
“That has nothing to do with me!”
“It does and you know it.”
You swallow.
“When Allen changed the timeline a few years ago he altered a lot of events. You were one of them. When the accelerator exploded, you were affected, am I right?” Harry’s stare is firmly planted on you.
It’s crazy that he knows that.
You look at your feet.
“I was actually running.” You mumble.
It’s a little unnerving how much knowledge he has on your life. He’s reading you like a book.
“I didn’t even know about that stupid science opening. I heard it. It felt so close. But when the screams started, it could not have been good. Barely made it two feet away when I was hit. I was in a coma. My brother was the one there when I woke up. He looked at me as if I were a ghost. Doctors didn’t think I would ever come back.”
Your situation sounds very similar to what Barry experienced.
“I don’t have powers. I’m normal. I’m telling you I can’t help. “ You sound defeated. Harry can understand why. The feeling that you’re letting someone down. He can relate.
Harry removes his glasses.
“This isn’t easy, it may even seem crazy. But you have the ability to help. Like Allen this wasn't just by chance. Regardless of what he did, it’s no coincidence that in other universes, you’re a speedster. You have a gift, and you can help Barry with it. You can help this city. You just have to be willing to try.”
He hopes that this will help you make the decision that you need to. He’d always felt that time after time he kept making the wrong choices. He wanted to spare you from doing the same thing. He can see the contemplative look on your face. He only hopes he’s gotten through to you. Putting on his glasses, he turns, reopening another one of those portals. Just as he’s about to jump through, you take his wrist. Harry pauses.
“Okay.”
It’s said so softly. He notices how unsure you still look, and he can’t help but smile. It’s obvious that you’re still terribly scared. It makes sense. You release his wrist, and he takes your hand softly in his. It’s a hold of comfort, one that you actually appreciate at that moment. He takes a step, and you follow, both stepping into the portal.
“I’m just saying, maybe Harry wasn’t the best choice. I know we drew straws but he’s the least emotionally in tune out of all of us. “ You can hear Cisco’s voice from around the corner and you send a smile in Harry’s direction.
“I appreciate the vote of confidence Ramon.” Comes Harry’s snarky tone. They all turn when they see you.
“You came back.” Iris says with a smile.
Doubt seems to creep back in, and Harry gives you another comforting squeeze before he lets go. It gives you the bit of confidence you need to face this.
“I would like to help in any way that I can.”
Barry’s smile is wide and they all begin to guide you over to the speed lab.
The Team takes a step back and you stand at the center with Barry, awaiting instructions.
“Our abilities, they come from the speedforce. The last meta I fought did something to disrupt my electrical connection to it. I can’t access it right now. But it’s still there. I still have my speed, I just can’t use it properly.”
“If that’s the case, couldn’t you have called one of those other speedsters. There’s been like three others that I’ve seen on tv.”
“Trust me, we tried. Even ones from other dimensions. Nothing works.” Cisco explains.
“So what makes you think that my speed will help? I-I don’t even know if I really am a speedster. I’ve never been able to use any powers.”
“Your speed hasn’t been accessed at all yet. So it’s the purest out of all of us. Because your meta gene is still new, it contains the electrical patterns I need to jumpstart my own.” Barry hopes that will make it clear, but even when he explains it, it doesn’t make sense. He can tell you’re confused by the look on your face.
So maybe he needs another approach.
“Take my hands.” He holds them out. You’re skeptical, but you take his hands.
“I need you to close your eyes.”
You follow each instruction. Closing your eyes, you exhale softly, doing your best to level your breathing.
“Picture the lightning, running through your veins. Like you’re weightless. That feeling you get when you’re moving and everything just slows down. But your heart, it’s still going, still moving.”
Harry and the others look on. At first nothing happens, there is no change. But his eyes catch a minor spark at your feet. Barry grins when he sees it. Cisco looks very excited.
“Time is just an object that you have control over. You can slow it down, speed it up. You have the power. The speed.”
The specs of lightning are becoming more prominent.
“Is that..” Cisco nods at Caitlin’s question.
“It’s working!!” He’s practically bouncing on his feet. Harry looks proud.
“I knew she could do it.”
Barry is wearing a similar look. He can see the energy surging through your hands, all the way to his.
“Now you’re one with the speedforce. You’re a speedster (Y/N).”
He doesn’t say those words aloud, and your eyes pop open. You gasp at the electricity that is present in Barry’s eyes. As you look around, your bodies are covered by a ball of golden streaks.
“Thank you (Y/N).”
“No problem…” You whisper in awe.
There might be more to life than what you initially thought.
I was tagged by @the-20th-century-girl to post my lockscreen, the last picture I took, and the last picture I downloaded. Thank you! 💙
I switched the last two so the post would look a little nicer (and yes, the felt figure shelf is getting a little crowded, I know 😂).
