Gwyn is such an inspiration 😇

After all the heartbreak, trauma, suffering, and assault, she remains brave and fierce. She has so much spunk, sass and spirit. She remains optimistic and enthusiastic. A true friend, a hard worker, and such a beacon of hope and light. She literally stepped out of her comfort zone! She has experienced some of the ugliest parts of life, and it is not easy to remain kind and hopeful after that. But SHE HAS and good things have come to her life for it. I’m pretty sure that was the moral you were supposed to get from her story so far but instead some people have twisted it around like snakes in a bind! (too aggressive?)

All these damn ship wars have overshadowed just how f**kin admirable she is beyond the romance! It’s bad form, you guys. I thought we were all about female empowerment now 🥺 So, stop that. Or, for everyone’s goddamn sanity, just walk away. 🤍 ✌🏼

Honestly, I'm kind of wondering if the reason SJM is stalling ACOTAR for CC is because she has no idea what to do with Elain.

We still have a few years before Elain's book, but hasn't it been a few years since SJM announced that Elain would eventually be an MC? And she's given Elain hardly any character development, except for the negative development we saw in ACOFAS and ACOSF.

I just assume if she's known for years that she wants Elain to be an MC that she would give her some development in preparation for that. As of now, a good portion of this fandom is either bored with Elain, and thus have no intentions of reading her book or they dislike her because of her behavior in ACOFAS and ACOSF, and thus have no intentions of reading her book.

Even the people who stan her only ever talk about her in the context of the ship war. Her only relevance is in regards to whose cock she'll be riding. That's not good set up at all for a character SJM has had seven years to build up.

Gwyn, Emerie, and the House of Wind got more character development in one book than Elain has received in five.

I know people think she planned this crossover, but her storyline is just too all-over-the-place and inconsistent and I honestly don't think she knows what she's going to do anymore. Especially with Elain.

I’ve had more time to sit with HOFAS so here are things I loved and things that bugged me.

THINGS I LOVED

AZRIEL AND NESTA - Where to even begin. Their relationship and friendship is EVERYTHING. I'm so glad SJM chose to highlight both of them for the ACOTAR part because their chemistry is everything. I can't wait for more in ACOTAR 5

AZRIEL - Every new thing we learned about Azriel had me screeching. It's so clear SJM is setting him up for the next book. Every scene he appeared in I was obsessed! Finding out about truthteller, him being protective of his mom, him interacting with music, him being all hot and threatening....this bat has me in a chokehold I swear.

THE LORE - All the new information we got about Prythian and Midgard is so interesting. I wish I was a theories person because there's so much to theorize about!

RUHNLIDIA - They served in this book omg. When Ruhn was like "this is my first mission with my girlfriend I want to impress her" I almost threw my phone I'm not even kidding. They are so cute🥹✨✨

HUNT - I still feel like I need more Hunt. He's such a sweetheart and was truly a highlight for me in this book. I love him so much and I was totally rooting for him to fry Celestina.

THINGS THAT BUGGED ME

Ruhn and Lidia’s mate announcement. I knew Ruhn and Lidia would be mates from HOSAB so I was only waiting for confirmation but the way it was written threw me off. Ruhn just said it out of nowhere and to…of all people…Pollux….like what? Why? Idk it could have been more emotional.

Ariadne- I don’t understand the point of introducing this new character only to do NOTHING with her. I shipped her and Flynn sooo much. The way she was introduced in the beginning of the book had me so hyped only for her to disappear. Like imagine a dragon marching with the armies of Hel when they fought the Asteri…

Sigrid - That entire plotline felt useless to me. She was set up to be this hope for the wolves and it all amounted to nothing. So why did we waste so much time on her. I enjoyed Ithan’s chapters because I really like him. But from an objective point of view…most of what SJM made him do didn’t make sense. If she wanted him to become Prime (which I loved btw) she didn’t need to waste all that time on Sigrid and her resurrection only for her to join Sabine the person she’s supposed to hate and then disappear.

Tharion and Sathia - No…just no…..

Bryce ignoring Hunt’s trauma - She did it in HOSAB but again and on a larger scale in HOFAS. Everytime Hunt brought up his fears (understandable because he has now faced the Asteri twice and suffered insane consequences) Bryce just got angry and put him in such a bad position. She made it look like he didn’t want to support her when he has very valid reasons to be afraid. After what he went through the first time in the Asteri dungeons for years and then again! I’m surprised he didn’t break down even more tbh. His feelings were so valid.

Bryce - SJM tried to do the “Aelin is always two steps ahead” thing with Bryce but honestly it didn’t work. A lot of the times I was side eyeing and was like “that’s convenient” Bryce was guessing a lot of times so that whole thing just didn’t work.

The plot was all over the place. The book really didn’t flow well.

okay a bit of a crack theory (like it's literally more of a thought), don't know whether or not someone has said it already (pretty sure someone has)

but i think

nesta might become a high lady (of the dusk court?)?? or a valkyrie queen? because like hear me out

throughout the whole series she's been compared to a queen, even called a queen of queens i belive

and there's also a fact that she refuses to act as one of rhysand's subjects

and from what i remember the valkyries have once had a land of their own and a king

and there's still the illyrian territory which has to be sorted out

so i think what might happen in the next book is that there will be a continuation of the valkyries' journey (through gwynriel's eyes probably) and sorting out the situation in illyria?????

and maybe nessian is going to rule over the valkyries and illyrians?????? and act as close allies to rhys, not subjects?

but it's just a thought

people try to justify in every way not liking elain. you might just not like her, you don't have to come up with a bunch of shit. this is a huge rant anti-gwynriel stans and pro-elain.

a person who made a direct connection between the hate that gwyn receives, which, according to her, is caused by her never being wrong, unlike elain, who was wrong with feyre and supposedly has a fandom that acts as if she had never done anything wrong. some replies said that elain had no development and that all her actions were forgiven for free. like wtf are you talking about

so let’s dive into it: elain's fandom doesn't act like she's never done wrong. no one acts (unlike the nesta fandom, which this person is a part of by the way) like elain has never done wrong. what is talked about, however, is that elain has changed. since acomaf, by the way, elain is no longer the same person. in fact, it is elain who asks nesta to let feyre use the manor, elain is the one who recognizes that the two wronged feyre and it is she who, even in a moment of fragility after being thrown into the cauldron, tries to help feyre. since then, elain has only gotten better. she actively took part in the feyre's life and never blamed her for anything. why would i still hate elain if she has changed and does not commit the same acts?

y'all love to create justification headcanons for eris, tamlin, nesta, whatever, but when it's elain, nothing is good enough. it's always a very interesting character and full of layers, flaws and humanity, until it comes to elain. fucking hypocrites.

second that: elain doesn't have a book. elain did not have space and time to have a rich development. she hasn't been a protagonist yet, so obviously she doesn't have the same build as feyre and nesta. it's just dumb to compare her to the two, or to expect everything to have formed when we don't even have a point of view of her.

but then, you praise a character like gwyn who is a secondary character and only serves to be best friends with nesta, as if she were an extremely rich character. she is so insignificant in the story that it would not make sense to make her deeper, as the protagonist is nesta. it wouldn't make sense to downplay nesta's story to solve gwyn's problems as she doesn't have that purpose in the story. basically her entire fandom is passionate about headcanons.

i hate this fandom and everything they talk about too strongly.
