Searched the days of the week in Greek out of curiosity and now I need to know the logic behind it. I'm guessing some ordinal number (like, the second, the third, etc) but I'm probably very wrong
No you are correct for most of them! Sunday is considered the first day of the week and it goes like this:
Κυριακή (kiryakí) = Sunday, from Κύριος (kyrios), Lord, meaning lord’s day
Δευτέρα (ðeftéra) = she-second, Monday
Τρίτη (tríti) = she-third, Tuesday
Τετάρτη (tetárti) = she-fourth, Wednesday
Πέμπτη (pémpti) = she-fifth, Thursday
Παρασκευή (paraskeví) = the exact meaning is “preparation”, a Greek translation of the Jewish word for Friday meaning “preparation day for the Sabbath”, first adopted in the New Testament
Σάββατο (sávato) = Sabbath, Saturday. The word has no meaning in Greek, it’s just the Greekfied adoption of the Jewish name first used in the New Testament and then popularised.

Curiosità, perché stai leggendo l'Oresteia in inglese?
Così. Ma ho anche intenzione di prenderla in italiano, è solo che mi piace avere versioni diverse, così da paragonare (ho fatto lo stesso anche con l'odissea, l'Iliade e l'eneide, e ho intenzione di farlo anche con l'edipo re, Medea etc etc. Versioni diverse sia in italiano che in inglese, visto che ognuno ci mette il suo nelle traduzioni. Ho intenzione di comprarne anche qualcuna in spagnolo giusto per vedere le differenze di traduzione ahahahah

Hello Can I podfic and publish "don't you ever tame your demons?"
Oh gods, that Iphigenia one...
Drums my fingers. Usually for all my fics I'd say yes? But that one was weird vent art I wrote in the middle of an OCD episode, and I don't mind people reading it but for some reason I don't think I want a podfic made of it.
Yeah, sorry, I think I'm going to have to say no for that one. I really appreciate your interest though!!

The first thing that hits Kazuha when he lands on Nazuchi Beach is how dead the place looks.
(I'm still deep into genshin fic writing hell, lol)
33. Give your writing a compliment.
OOF i'm not good at these things. but. people have been telling me pretty consistently that i characterize the characters well and i keep them IC so. i'd say that this is currently my strongest point.

Immortal Achilles Au
@gwensparlour
Au: Thetis manages to make Achilles immortal, who becomes a god of war and justice. Though immortal, he still finds Patroclus.
There was a god on Phthia's throne. Nobody knew his name. They called him the Beast. The Bloodthirsty. The monster of Phthia.
Patroclus knew the rumors by heart by now, how the god took the place of the previous king in a more or less peaceful way and ruled the Myrmidons with an iron fist.
He was a bloodthirsty and violent being, but whoever went to him could apply for asylum and make his reasons heard.
If you wanted help, you had to pique his interest.
And Patroclus was desperate enough to try that too, despite the rumors.
He was a prince deposed in error, his father had died in shame. He had to reconquer the throne, to regain his honor and let his father's shadow rest in peace in his underworld.
He didn't expect the Beast of Phthia to be so beautiful.
"So, you are Prince Patroclus," the god king said, slouched on his throne.
"They call you a perjurer and a murderer. And yet, you are here."
"Only one of those things is true, and I've always had respect for the gods," Patroclus said, keeping his head down.
"Me too?"
"Especially you."
"Oh? Still, you mustn't have heard pleasant stories about me."
"Not even on the king of gods, yet I pray to him every day. Gods and humans have similar morals, your grace."
A little later he realized his mistake, and prepared to be flayed alive.
The god did an unexpected thing: he laughed.
"You have balls. It's rare these days. I like you."

WIP Wednesday
I haven't done one of those in a while! This is from the next chapter of you're a walking disaster and yet-- which is finished and should be up tomorrow:
Patroclus is sitting on his bed, History textbook in his lap and his back against the wall, Laika curled up beside him, when his door opens and Achilles walks in. He looks just as tired and disgruntled as Patroclus feels; he climbs up on the bed and nudges Patroclus and Laika aside to flop face down between them with a groan.
“I hate this,” he mumbles, voice muffled through the pillows. Laika gives his ear a lick.
Patroclus turns the music down a little, sets his book aside. “Did they always argue like this?” he asks quietly. “Before…”
Achilles’ back rises when he takes a deep breath. “I guess. Kind of. For a time. It was… different, though. There were times when it was so quiet. Dead quiet in the house. Before she left… they wouldn’t even speak to each other.”
“Is it better when they argue, then?”
Achilles lets out a sharp huff of a laugh. It sounds weary more than anything. “I don’t know if ‘better’ is the word I’d use.” He scratches Laika behind the ears, staring longingly at the wall. “God, I just wish they’d stop and listen to each other for a minute.”
Patroclus sighs. He wiggles down on the bed to lie next to Achilles. Achilles shifts to face him, his eyes so trusting and sad and lovely that they tug at Patroclus’ heart.
“Do you think there’s something I could do?” Achilles asks. “Speak to them, maybe, or—”
“No,” Patroclus says. Then he amends it to a much softer, “It isn’t up to you, Achilles. What your parents do, what they say to each other. And it isn’t your fault if they argue. It’s up to them to fix things between them.”
“I know,” Achilles says morosely. He blows at a golden curl that’s hanging over his nose, only for it to land messily across his brow. Patroclus reaches out, without thinking, to tuck it behind his ear. Achilles smiles, and something inside Patroclus grows warm and fuzzy at the sight.
“It sounds rather quiet now,” Patroclus remarks, taking back his hand. “Do you think it’s time for dinner?”
“Fuck, I hope so. I’m starving.”
They stay in Patroclus’ room for a while longer, listening to music and taking turns playing tug-of-war with Laika—most of her toys, as well as her dog bed and her food and water bowls, once strewn all over the house, are in Patroclus’ room now, once Thetis declared that she doesn’t want the dog anywhere near the kitchen or the living room or wherever else she or her family might be— before they finally decide it’s safe enough for them to go downstairs.
I also have some doodle offerings, from a collection of doodles I've been working on featuring Disaster Achilles and his pink hair tie:

Me again, a follow up question. While I know it's pretty much impossible to have a perfect transposition from greek to latin alphabet, I'm trying to have at least some kind of ruling. This said, would you transpose κ as a english "K" (harsh sound) or "c" sweet sound. Ex, Αλκιμεδων is Alkimedon or Alcimedon or whatever? Thank you
That's a great question. The truth is that the transliteration of Greek to Latin characters is terrible because even though the closest letters are chosen, these letters often have different sounds between the two alphabets. The problem is aggravated by the fact that English especially took a lot of Greek words via their Latin version and not directly and by the reliance on the popular Erasmian pronunciation which is questionable on so many levels (and ugly), to say the least.
Grasping the opportunity provided by your example, there is not a soft c in Greek at all. Never has been. The closest one by sound is σ (σίγμα) which is the equivalent of s. There is only κ (kappa) which is a harsh k. The frequent usage of c in words of Greek origin probably only means that these words have made a passing through the Latin language first.
But not just that, d is considered the equivalent of δ but the latter hasn't been pronounced as d for a couple millenias and even when it did, it was still softer than the modern d of the latin alphabet languages.
So the correct way to transliterate Αλκιμέδων to the Latin alphabet is actually Alkiméthon. The problem here is that Greek has two entirely different letters for the two ¨th¨ sounds, whereas English doesn´t. Some transliterate δ as ¨dh¨, as a solution of sorts. This would turn it into ¨Alkimédhon¨.
But because there are so many problems, there are no established rules. I believe the transliteration that should prevail now is the one that follows as accurately as possible the living pronunciation. Pre-hellenistic pronunciations are just theories after all.
So how I would transliterate is:
β as v (not b)
γ as gh (not g) before the consonants and the vowels α, ο, ω, ου and as y before the vowels ε, αι, η, ι, ει, οι, υι
δ as th or dh (not d)
η, ι, υ, ει, οι all as i
θ as th
κ as k
ξ as x or ks (not gz)
σ, ς as s or even as ss in the middle of a word because it is a little more “snaky” than the English s
φ as f or ph
χ as h or kh. Maybe that's how it should be written even before another consonant (i.e χρόνος - hrónos or khrónos as the more popular ¨chronos¨ is often mispronounced as kronos)
ψ as ps, but remember that both consonants are voiced unlike in English where the p is silent.
ω as o
αι as e since this has been the pronunciation for so long
ου as u or ou although I visually don't like the latter. Some use the oo which is not all that wrong but it looks utterly horrendous.
γγ, γκ as ng in the middle of the word, as g in the beginning or if it appears more than once in the word.
μπ as mb in the middle of the word, as b in the beginning or if it appears more than once in the word.
ντ as nd in the middle of the word, as d in the beginning or if it appears more than once in the word.
τζ as tz and not j, as it is a thinner sound.
τσ as ts and not ch, as it is a thinner sound.
This is more or less the transliteration that lately is used for Modern Greek. Those chaotic differences are the reason a Greek woman might tell somebody her name is Thanái and they won't realise she's telling them her name is Danae. XD
Now even though this is more correct I acknoweldge that visually the inaccurate transliteration is often more aesthetically pleasing or maybe it's because we are used to it. Take as example the verb for "skin, peel" :
γδέρνω is gderno in the usual transliteration but it is ghthérno in the more accurate one. The funny thing is that ghthérno looks terribly ugly but it sounds far more delicate and pretty when spoken than the inaccurate but better looking gderno XD
It's a mess what can I say. I have sometimes received some mild criticism for retaining the latin version of Greek words i.e I write Ευρυδίκη as Eurydice instead of the more accurate Evrithiki. Just for visual aesthetics. Honestly Evrithíki sounds nice when you say it but it looks so ugly in latin characters ffs I am so sad about this XD.
The latest example is that I wrote "Andronicus Palaeologus" even though I should have written "Anthronikos Paleologhos". And yet I believe that the latter sounds better than the former. Still, even if it's visually better, Idk, I think we should opt for accuracy especially in more "official", serious circumstances. Unless it looks much uglier and pronunciation doesn't matter in a certain situation so in this case we can show some understanding :P
Alkimethon though looks fairly good IMO
