I don't understand the negativity against the Witcher in comparison to other shows

this is not about everyone, this is about the people who are 100% negative about the show and think that it has zero redeeming qualities

here`s what I don't get, its getting bad comments from people who would praise a different show for doing the exact same thing

the new trailer for the Wheel of Time came out this week even though that show is another big budget streaming fantasy show of a popular book that casted many poc actors and also changed many things from the source material , and dont get me wrong there are defiantly alot of fans that dislike that show now, but the reception to the new trailer was mostly positive, its no wear near the vitrail that the Witcher has received

people excused the changes in their first season because of COVID but did no such thing for the Witcher season 2 that dealt with the exact same issue

I even saw this tweet

Think how boring this moment now would be if we would have exact same events on TV than in the books? Nothing to be surprised, nothing to speculate, nothing to analyze.

why dont I see this mentality applied to the Witcher

not only with that comparison but the Witcher is not even allowed in the “guilty pleasure” circle of shows, its not even acceptable to like the show in the same way people enjoy Merlin or Xena as just a fun fantasy show( yeah its a bit darker than they are so what)

or even in the CW guilty pleasure sort of way where its fun stupid and those shows take way more liberties from the comics and have way worse acting

Iv defiantly got problems with the show as well its boring at times and looks cheap and I don't like the direction of some of the characters, ( im making a post next about that) but so what, I can just do back and read the books and play the games, they don't magically disappear or get “butchered” out of existence like some people claim

but I guess I just dont understand the point of getting offended at something that's not only completely harmless but already has one of the greatest video games of all time as an adaptation, but also has tons of fanfiction, several spin off games and ttrpgs, most other adaptations have none of those things,

People claim to only be negative because they care about the IP but that doesn't excuse the racism, misogyny and more recently homophobia that the cast and crew experience.

People that actually care about the source material, don't harass and put down people working on the show or that enjoy the show, they write fanfictions, make fanart and talk and share about why they love it
