All your life, you’ve been told a woman’s greatest duty and honor is to find a husband with whom to raise a family. Your father told you this, your mother did, as did your brothers and sisters. However, your beloved grandmother told you something very different. You remember her fondly, her wrinkled face with that secretive little smile as she promised to tell you how the world truly operated. It was when you turned six and ten that she told you how a marriage truly works.

“Get your husband so cuntstruck for you that he will do anything you ask,” she grinned, that cheeky glint still in her eyes despite her old age, “That is how to make your way in this world.”

Sadly, your grandmother passed before she could see you married off, but her words remain with you.

You hear them ringing in your ears when you turn eight and ten and your parents tell you it is time to secure a match. You hear them at every meeting with each potential suitor. And you hear them as you stand in the sept beside your lord husband, Prince Aemond Targaryen.

The match between you and Aemond is not one borne of love, but rather advantage. With your family’s resources and lineage, you were the obvious choice of a bride for one of the Targaryen brothers. Aegon is already married, alas, and Daeron is too young, so the responsibility falls to Aemond.

And he takes to it with great enthusiasm.

You play your part well on the wedding night, completely enchanting him. You undo your hair with shaky hands, gazing up at him through your lashes with a coy demurity that drives him mad with want. You make the sweetest little noises as the two of you consummate your union, recalling everything you read in the book you had your handmaiden procure for you regarding the art of lovemaking.

Needless to say, Aemond is completely infatuated and in love with his new bride from that very first night.

No matter what you ask, Aemond makes sure it happens when you bat those pretty lashes at him and give him that sweet little smile. You fawn over him, paying no attention to any man who crosses your path. Aemond is a jealous man, as you soon find out, and the best way to keep him under your control is to make him feel like he is the center of your universe. You always link your arm in his, always gaze at him adoringly while he speaks, nodding and agreeing with him in public. When he says something you disagree with, you merely smile, later pointing it out to him in the privacy of your bedchambers, sometimes when he’s still busy bedding you. You make him think his change in opinion is his own idea, something else you learned from the woman you so admired.

You stand by Aemond’s side as his drunken fool of a brother is crowned king. The thought of this lecher being the ruler of the Seven Kingdoms is enough to make your blood boil. Too many times have his hands wandered to your thigh beneath the dining table under the guise of being drunk. Too many times have you found some poor servant girl crying in the corridors because of his actions. Too many times have you comforted your good sister after his neglect of her. And finally? Too many times has Aemond told you some horror story from his youth about the way his cunt brother bullied him.

No, you think, Aegon as king simply will not do.

You broach the subject that night as you and Aemond take your bath together. The two of you refuse to have any attendants present, rather using it as time to bond as man and wife, even now a full year after your wedding. Your husband remains hungry for your touch, your kiss every second of every day, a fact that both flatters and pleases you. You know you have him well and truly cuntstruck, as planned.

The night after Aegon’s coronation, as you wash his hair, rinsing it with a concoction of lavender and mint, you let out a sad little sigh, which Aemond immediately picks up on, turning to you and resting a hand on your cheek, “What is it, my love?”

“It is nothing, my sweet prince,” you say softly, “Do not mind me. It was just a rather trying day, is all. When Princess Rhaenys made her entrance I was so afraid…”

Aemond pulls you into his arms, holding you tight to his chest, “My darling wife, I am sorry that you were so frightened. You know I would have laid down my life to save you, yes?”

You nod, tucking yourself under his chin, “Yes, I know, my sweet husband, I know. ‘Tis just,” you pause before speaking, looking up to meet his eye, “It is a bad omen for one’s reign to start with such bloodshed.”

Aemond nods thoughtfully, “You are right, ñuhus jorrāeliarzus,” he says, running a hand through your hair, pressing his lips to the crown of your head, “It is a bad omen, indeed. But he is my brother and the king’s rightful heir. We must be loyal to him.” (my love)

“Of course,” you nod, nuzzling against him, pressing hot open-mouthed kisses along his neck, smirking to yourself as you feel him harden against your thigh, “I only think that the crown would look so much better upon your brow than his.”

Aemond groans slightly at your words as you move your bare cunt along his length, teasing him, “Oh, do you?” he asks, his voice low and gravelly as he grabs your hips, “You ought to remember your place, Lady Targaryen.”

Aemond grits his teeth and pretends that the whole thing is a joke. He does his best to ignore the way Aegon’s eyes rake over your form when you walk in to sit beside Aemond at dinner. Aemond feels hyper aware of all the things that are wrong with Aegon after your little conversation. And as he leads you to your bedchamber, he turns to you and articulates his own thoughts on the matter.

Aemond presses a kiss to your neck, “My brilliant, clever wife.”

“But remember, Aemond,” you say softly, “The timing for Aegon must be flawless.”

And it is. The two of you make sure the rumors spread of the fighting pits, of Aegon’s neglected bastards and the ilk, and soon enough, public sentiment has turned against him in favor of Aemond.

Which is why when Aemond finally takes his brother’s head, none of the smallfolk shed a tear, instead applauding when Aemond takes his seat on the throne, Blackfyre in one hand, Aegon’s crown on his brow, and you seated in his lap.

He takes you on the Iron Throne that night, watching with delight as you ride his cock while he sits on the most powerful seat in the realm, the most beautiful woman fucking him, feeling almost like a god.

Bucky stared intently at the open blank journal that sat in the middle of his office desk. He had picked up the pen a few minutes ago, but hadn’t written a single word. Why did he feel stuck? Better yet, what was he thinking by doing this? Reading often came easy to him, but writing? That was something else entirely.

It was also something he wanted to do.

He ran a hand over his face with a sigh and wondered if he should call it a night, crawl into bed with you, and try tomorrow. No, he didn’t want to push it off before he even began. Glancing at the monitor, he heard your voice in his head, a memory of something you told him in the early stages of dating:

The best writing comes from the heart. Write what you and your heart love because no one knows that story better than you.

Bucky had plenty of stories to tell. How he became a hero and a good man after years of pain and darkness. Or how he fell in love with you and became your husband.

And his newest adventure of becoming a father.

He wasn’t sure how to be a dad yet, but he knew he loved his son. That was more than enough to start. And with a smile tugging at his lips, he put the pen to paper.

Hey, Nugget,

My name is James Buchanan Barnes. Most people call me Bucky. Your mom calls me her husband and I’m the luckiest man in the world for that, especially since she gave me the greatest gift I could ever ask for: you.

Your name is James, too. Your mom doesn't know if we’ll call you Jamie or JJ, but I have a feeling you'll hear a bit of both. And one day, I’ll get to hear you call me Dad. Or Dada or Daddy or Papa.

Whatever makes you happy.

He paused in his writing when he thought he heard something on the monitor. His eyes flickered to the screen again and he breathed a little easier when he saw that his baby was still sleeping soundly in the middle of the crib. It wouldn’t stop him from checking on him later, just to be on the safe side.

I’m so glad you’re home. In fact, tonight is your first night in the nursery. I hope you like it here. To quote Ralph Waldo Emerson: “A house is made with walls and beams: a home is built with love and dreams.”

Yeah, your old man likes to read. Maybe you will, too. I even have an original copy of The Hobbit and would love to give it to you when you're older.

Books lined the far wall of Bucky’s office, many of them worn from the amount of times he read them. He made sure Jamie’s room had a reading nook, too. It was one of the only things he asked for when the two of you designed the nursery.

I hope you get enough sleep tonight. Your mom, too. You both did great at the hospital and deserve all the rest you can get.

Would you believe me if I said I was a nervous wreck when I brought your mom in, but tried not to let it show? People call me strong, but I don’t think I ever witnessed true strength until I saw how steady of a rock she was. She blew me away, which didn't surprise me. She amazes me every day.

Hearing your first cry stopped my heart and brought tears of joy to my eyes. After nine months of waiting and talking to your mom’s stomach, you were finally here. And seeing her hold you made me fall in love all over again.

Sorry if that sounds sappy, but it’s true. She looked right at me with happy tears in her eyes and said, “Bucky, look! Look at what we made! It's our little Nugget!” and my heart swelled. She insisted on calling you that and it rubbed off on me. Believe me when I say that you are the luckiest baby in the world to have the mother that you do.

He stopped writing again to glance at his wedding band, smiling all over again. He thought your love filled his heart before, but it overflowed now. It warmed him like nothing else ever could.

You’re probably wondering why I’m writing this since a lot of time will pass by the time you read this. Sometimes I may write to remember things I’m afraid I’ll forget. Other days I’ll write to reflect and get the words out when my mind is too loud. But my hope is that this will be a gift to you.

A bond for the two of us.

As you grow, I’ll fill the pages with the memories of you and our family. I’ll tell you about my past and how it shaped me into the man I am today. How your mom and I met and how I somehow convinced her to fall in love with me. And I’ll be sure to tell you about the day she told me we were going to have you and how that news changed my life for the better.

He swallowed the lump in his throat before he continued.

I also plan to fill this with your milestones. Like your first smile. Is it selfish if I hope to see it first? If not me, your mom. She’d love that. Your first step. Being selfish again, but I hope it’s me you walk toward so I can pick you up and tell you how proud I am. And your first word. I hope it’s Mama.

Though I won’t object if you say Dada.

Bucky chuckled as he imagined the look of betrayal on your beautiful face if your son said “Dada” first instead of “Mama”.

I’m sure some days I’ll have more to say than others. If I’m lucky, I can pass on life lessons and words of wisdom. Some days though I may not say the right thing and I know I’ll stumble along the way as I figure out how to be the best dad to you. I say “best” and not “perfect” because perfection doesn’t exist. Except for you and your mom.

The beauty of it is that I don’t have to go it alone. I’ll have your mom by my side to help guide and protect you and to watch you flourish. And my hope is that you know as you look through the pages how much we love you.

Even on days I may not get it right, I’m your dad, you’re my son, and you’ll always have a home with me and a place in my heart.

I’ll write more when I can, Nugget. Until then, I love you.

Bucky set the pen down as he exhaled. It wasn't perfect, but it didn't have to be. It was a start. As long as he put his heart into his words, it would shine from the pages.

And he couldn't wait for all the adventures he’d have with his little Nugget.

Eddie does end up following Robin because he does not, in fact, have a death wish.

Even if, apparently, he dies in the future. Go figure.

She instructs him to grab his guitar. “Why in the fuck,” he starts, then reconsiders when Robin whips around to stare at him. “Anyone ever tell you you’re terrifying?”

Robin shrugs a shoulder. “Not as much as they should.”

She stashes her bike in the back of his van and directs him to the Harrington residence, where Steve’s waiting, arms crossed, wondering smile on his face. “Miracle worker,” he calls, and Robin laughs as she grabs her bike from the back.

“Hate to break it to ya, Dingus, but you’re just not scary.”

“I’m plenty scary. I’ve got a nail bat.”

“Right, because that would beat Nance’s sawed-off in a fight.”

“Hey, it could! You never know! They’ve got different ranges!”

Robin rolls her eyes at Eddie, like she’s asking if he can believe it, which. No. No he can’t.

“Sorry,” he says, regretting everything when they both look at him. “What the actual fuck is happening?”

“Come inside,” Steve says, suddenly all business. “We’ve got a lot to discuss.” His eyes find Robin’s. “One of ‘em took Barb last night.”

“Fuck,” Robin whispers.

“Yup. Will’s been missing for two days. Maybe, if we get down there soon enough…”

“Let’s hope so. Which one of the rugrats found El?”

“I think they all did? But Mike’s the one who took her in.” He shakes his head, mouth a grim line. “I saw Dustin today. They’re kids, Robs.”

“So are we,” she reminds him, heaving a tired-sounding sigh. “A buncha kids fighting real-life monsters.”

“Monsters?” Eddie parrots.

Somehow they end up inside while Steve goes to pick up the Party. Who the party is, Eddie doesn’t know. Just like he doesn’t know why he’s in Steve’s Harrington’s house with someone who isn’t Steve Harrington.

“Who’s the Party?” He asks Robin. “And why am I here again? If I die, doesn’t that mean I shouldn’t be here? Should be somewhere far, far away instead?”

“The Party’s a group of kids Steve babysits. They’re the first ones to go through this whole mess. And admittedly, you’re here partially because you can help, and partially for selfish reasons.” She offers him a lopsided grin. “Believe it or not, watching you die was kinda traumatic.”

“Right,” he says slowly. “And you and Steve? How do you know each other? He and Nancy Wheeler are the talk of the town, and if he’s stepping out-”

“He wouldn’t,” she says harshly. “Ever.” She takes a breath. “Two years from now, or a year ago, he and I work together in a mall. Long story short, we get captured and tortured by Russians. High on truth serum, I tell him I’m a lesbian in the bathroom, we help take down the big bad, and boom. Instant platonic soulmates.”

Eddie gapes at her. “What the fuck.”

“Just about,” she nods. “Oh, and the kids love D&D, so you’ll have plenty to talk about. They’re little shits but they’re also kinda great once you get to know them.”

Eddie stares at her. The front door opens, and Steve walks in, followed by a gaggle of preteens and Nancy Wheeler.

“Robs,” Steve says, not slowing his stride as he begins taking the stairs two at a time. “Bathroom. Now.”

Robin grimaces. “Breakdown time,” she murmurs to Eddie, then follows Steve, leaving everyone else staring at each other.

“So,” Eddie says. “I heard you like D&D?”

A dark-haired kid who looks suspiciously like Nancy narrows his eyes. “You play?”

“Play!” Eddie repeats. “I don’t just play, my young friend, I am the greatest Dungeon Master this side of the Mississippi.”

A curly-haired kid begins to grin. “I think we should put that to the test.”

I genuinely think rick and michonne are the greatest love story and romance ever told on television. there's just no notes. they're perfect, stunning, outstanding. it's not just the fucking journey of it, of 2 people meeting at the lowest point in humanity and in their lives and dragging each other back up season after season. it's not just the genuine time it takes for the humanity, trust and love to build between them. it's....the tenderness of it when it does. rick and michonne are just 2 people who accepted that life and being alive would just mean violence and loss, but then when they finallyyyyyy realise how much they love each other it's so tender, it's this little haven that's actually living. and like,,,,, all of that would be enough for any on screen love story but the chemistry danai gurira and andrew lincoln have is just unparalleled, lightening in a bottle. Season 7, episode 12 of twd where rick and michonne are just fucking, scavenging, wasting walkers, road tripping, rinse and repeat is literally one of the most romantic sexiest episodes of tv ever made. that's how I know richonne naysayers are just losers suffering from antiblackness and misogynoir. I cannot imagine watching this and thinking anything other than wow this is literally the greatest love story on television ❤️
