Round 2: Match 4

Not quite as nice a combination to look at as the last Dream Ball match, but this isn't an aesthetics contests! Unless that's what you're voting on and it is?

The Great Ball is the final of the original Balls from Generation 1 still standing in the competition, so it has a lot to prove! Is it truly Greater than the rest?

The Dream Ball won a potentially surprising victory against the Master Ball in Round 1, and now it has the chance to take out a second classic. Will it being going all the way or is that just a pipe dream?

Super duper major thanks to @imfluentinfangirlandgay and their amazing Joltik pattern they created! As someone who hasn't picked up a needle and thread in way too many years aside from a rip an tear in clothes, this was very easy to follow through! I wasn't entirely sure I could do it and I know he's not as spikey as he could be (damn dollarstore felt) but I'm still so, so proud of how he turned out! And I used my know how in needle felting to add the black and white to his eyes instead of the embroidery thread!

Great Ball is completed! Pretty happy with how this one turned out cause the red lines were kinda tricky.

I have TWO new hats listed! These Poké ball hats I made for a market. The ultra ball one sold, but I still have poke ball and great ball.

The stripes on the poke ball one are colored to represent the 3 starter types. And the great ball one is meant to look like a gumball machine. I won’t say which is my favorite ahaha but I hope both find good homes.

I also knocked down prices on 4 of my other hats. They are now $25 instead of $30.

I’ve kind of been thinking about making more poke ball/Pokémon stuff like this and seeing if they will sell it at my local anime store 🤔🤔🤔 they’ve been pushing to carry local artists goods so maybe it’s worth a shot?

Round 1: Match 7

This match puts 2 very different Balls against each other- though they do have something in common!

The Sport Ball is given to trainers that participate in the Bug-Catching Contest in the Johto Region! This likely makes it the only Ball that were initially limited in the days of the week that it can be obtained on, only available on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Once the Contest is over, any spare Sport Balls are taken back, and so they're only usable in the National Park. When the player has them however, they have the same catch rate as a Great Ball at 1.5x- but this all changed with the Sword and Shield DLC! In the Isle of Armor, Sport Balls are readily available from the Cram-o-matic, making them much easier to obtain after all these years. The catch rate was also changed to a standard 1x. Interestingly, in the Pokémon Global Link, the Ball had n 'S' design on it, rather than the Poké Ball design- just adding to all the unique history of this Ball!

After all that, we have a much more common and reliable Ball- the Great Ball! Since it first appeared in Red and Green, it has always had the 1.5x multiplier that makes them so appealing in the early game when choices are limited. Similar to the Ultra Ball, it has a different name in Japanese- the Super Ball! Eagle-eyed trainers will notice this matches the Potion naming scheme, making you wonder why the localisation didn't keep it the same! Either way, the Great Ball is true to its name, with a great colour scheme, catch rate, availability, and reliability for the last 27 years!
