Two new plants. My other plants I got to growing up to a decent point, but not fully and they left here one by one. 😢 But succulents (like these new plants) are easier to care for as the conditions they require are more straightforward and basic. 🌿🌿
The greener one is Crassula ovata (also called a Money tree, although I don't follow the thought that it can affect my financial life) and the lighter colored one is the Graptopetalum Paraguayense (also called Mother-of-pearl or Ghost plant because of the powdery white layer). 🍃🍃

Okay this will be a dual post because all 14 of my plants can't fit in one tumblr post. Let's take it from the top starting with my succulents/cacti, some of which I've had the longest.
Tumblr media
Pearl. Named by a good friend of mine who said that her leaves remind him of large oyster pearls. This little lady has been gnawed on several times in her life by the local squirrels especially during periods without rain, most likely in attempt and false assumption that she's an easy water source. She heals over quickly though and it doesn't bother her at all really. I think she finds it amusing. I find it maddening.
Genus/species: pachyphytum oviferum (sugar almond/moonstone)
Owned for 864 days and counting
Tumblr media
Legolas. I think of them as a collective and not a singular since there's so much of them. They are a pain in the ass to repot but they settle wildly yet comfortably each time and show no issues as they grow rapidly. They lose the most leaves yet grow them back almost immediately. The thickest ones of a recent stem that snapped under its own weight I placed down in the pot upright, as you can see. They are rooting well and attempting to grow their own baby stalks.
Genus/species: graptopetalum paraguayense (ghost plant)
Owned for 431 days and counting
Tumblr media
Gemi and Niya. Calling either/or either name is fine. Named as a play on words for Gemini since they are twins. The little child offshoots at their base started growing over the course of last into this year and I find it endearing in a way as they feel the most motherly/nurturing of my plants. They flower for me each summer and though the flowers wilt over the course of a few days after they come up, they're beautiful to behold each and every time. Despite their prickly nature, they're actually not too much of a hassle when they need to be repotted, though gloves are a must so that I'm not spending loads of time pulling barbs out of bare flesh. They enjoy when I stroke their barbs downward gently, like petting a cat.
Genus/species: parodia leninghausii (golden balls)
Owned for 864 days and counting
Tumblr media
Clover. Named by my same friend who named Pearl. This lady has been through hell and back and has stood the test of time to stay with me and I love her dearly for it. She has the softest spot in my heart out of all my plants. She has suffered one too many a fall, once during a bad thunderstorm, and the second through a knockdown which caused even worse damage than the storm fall, and of which I wasn't told of immediately when it happened and found out hours later. She has had to heal and grow through the shocks from both. After a lot of tears and soothing from me, with a little help from my cousin too, who equally loves plants, we got her back on her feet and to spite her aggressors, she has fought back and thrived. The sun spots from days of too hot sun give her character and I like to rub those spots between my fingers most when going out to talk to her.
Genus/species: crassula ovata (jade plant)
Owned for 864 days and counting.
Tumblr media
Okuta. Named as a play on words for octa/octopus because he reminds me of a mass of tentacles coming out of the sea floor. {"Wouldn't anemone have worked better?" No! Shut up.} This flashy boy is a massive unit of his main body and a whoooole lot of kids/offshoots. He likes them attached to him though and just keeps allowing them to grow outwards and expand his mass. He is in the largest pot and I do not look forward to carrying him inside come autumn. Every summer he grows this thick ass stalk that flowers into littler pink flora. Once it stops, I cut it off because it looks goofy just flapping around. This photo was taken after I just cut it off him.
Genus/species: fasciated hawthoria
Owned for 864 days and counting
Tumblr media
Güsto. This little man was named by my cousin. I am eager to see him grow over the years large and in charge. He looks up to Gemi and Niya and they think he is the cutest thing. They inspire each other to grow. His spines are thicker than the girl's but in a way are easier to hold for me to repot him when necessary. He also likes being stroked gently.
Genus/species: Mammillaria spinosissima (spiny pincushion cactus)
Owned for 45 days and counting
Tumblr media
Cereza. Named by a friend of mine who loves Bayonetta, as I also do. This lady I'm trying to sort of start fresh with slowly but surely as she was not necessarily dying but she wasn't really showing growth either. These two leaves are the ones that really took to the propagation. I'm waiting for the roots to get longer before I try putting her back into soil once more.
Genus/species: dracaena trifasciata (snake plant)
Owned for 238 days and counting
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Winny and Pooh. Winny was named by my friends as I bought him alongside Brandi (who you will see in my non succulent post) as a play on wine and brandy. Pooh I just finally gave a name to as yet another play for Winnie the Pooh. Pooh is one of Winny's first kids/offshoots that came originally attached to him. It's been a joy watching him grow from such a tiny little thing. Winny also had another larger kid that I gave to my cousin. Winny is the only plant in my room with me, on my desk, because he doesn't mind my lower lighting and constantly having the fan on. He is also the loudest of my plants, constantly feeling the need to put energy out and talk. We get into it all the time because he hates having the offshoots on him and demands that they be taken off before they even really get a chance to form roots, which I cannot do UNTIL they have roots. I am going to have to remove the one currently growing on him now or he'll never cease his grumbling. He enjoys his leaves stroked between my thumb and forefingers. Pooh does as well.
Genus/species: hahnii/bird's nest (snake plant)
Owned for 164 days and counting

okay time for a Plant now.... 🫶
Graptopetalum Paraguayense (Ghost Plant)
These are one of my Most Favorite plants ever. They are so cool looking. People tend to think that theyre etiolated (growing too long due to lack of light) BUT. Theyre Basically a trailing plant. They grow super super super long with the little rosette at the end of the long stem. They have this sort of muted dusty grey mint green color, and get a little bluer+pinkish when sun-stressed. They also bloom these tiny little yellow flowers in the late spring to early fall :^)
They need the typical amount of water and sun for a succulent, theyre pretty easy to take care of.
(sorry i dont know the source of these images... <|3)

My favorite plants will always be Graptopetalum paraguayense, I think. The humble ghost plant or porcelain plant.
This is Graptopetalum paraguayense :
Tumblr media
Such delicate colors, right? But apart from their beauty, what I love about those graptos is that they are hell-bent on propagating.
My Sedeveria ‘Letizia’ props, from a plant that makes many offshoots,  placed on actual soil on April 24th:
Tumblr media
“Uh, guys, we’re supposed to make roots, right? Roots? Ugh, that’s so hard...”
Meanwhile, grapto leaves from June 19th in a plastic tray:
Tumblr media
“LET’S MAKE BABIES!”
The light conditions might play a part (top of the shelf versus lower shelf), but come on...
Also I’m going to have so many graptos.

Whatever They Told You About Cactus Is Dead Wrong ... And Here's Why
There, you'll discover the different sorts of lights on the marketplace and also what makes them distinctively useful to succulent gardeners. Though the huge variety of types within the Opuntia genus means various sorts of Prickly Pears might require somewhat various care. See a lot more at: How to Grow and also Take Care Of Opuntia. See Also: Scissors vs. You can gently twist the leaf from the primary plant or cut the leaf off with a sterile set of scissors. Garden clippers, wire cutters, as well as scissors. As succulents go, Cotyledons certainly are fulfilling garden and also indoor subjects, virtually independent of irrigation in all but complete desert problems. You may additionally intend to provide your cactus an adjustment period prior to propelling it into a full day of bright light. Finally, if none of your windows offers sufficient light, position the plant 6 to 12 inches (15 to 30 centimeters) listed below an awesome white fluorescent tube for 14 to 16 hrs daily. Windows with western or eastern exposure run as 2nd and third choices. And visit their website on online succulent stores makes a wonderful mini banyan tree - yet one might go on as well as on with this; the suggestion is truly to just toss out some ideas, allowing the viewers run and take the sphere with it.
"Blue Rose" is one of the most common Echeverias. The cactus includes areoles along the length of it, which are little bumps that produce the appearance of having many faces etched right into it - thus its usual name "Totem Pole Cactus". There are a couple of vital steps that brand-new succulent proprietors often neglect, which can result in "Christmas Cactus" not flourishing in addition to it could. Nutrient-rich castings have the typical nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, along with minerals as well as nutrients such as copper, zinc, magnesium, and also calcium. It grows well inside when it gets enough light. It expands well outdoors in container yards. Spray them actually well with the alcohol. I potted every one in smaller sized pots that will certainly become larger plants by themselves. However, repot Aloes that are toppling their pots or have actually discontinued growing in the springtime. Water on a regular basis throughout the expanding period so long as the plant pot is allowed to drain as well as not being in a water tray.
Keep the seed tray in a location with bright, indirect light. Echeveria harmsii require bright, indirect light when expanded inside your home. Split Rock Succulents love brilliant light. The petite size of these planters makes them optimal for smaller sized, solitary succulents or cacti. Ariocarpus are amongst those interesting cacti that produce great white filaments. A: Dudleya succulents produce oxygen throughout the evening and also assistance in cleansing the air. When young but might generate offsets when fully grown, it is solitary. Aloe vera is a respected propagator, growing numerous offsets. To separate the offsets from the mommy plant, make use of a sharp blade or your fingers to delicately separate the plant's origins. Using a sterile, sharp knife or set of scissors, get rid of a stem with leaves from the main plant, as well as permit it to callous for a number of days before positioning on well-draining soil. To securely eliminate the plant, you might require to tip the pot on its side and even inverted. Like any kind of various other succulent plant, Graptopetalum paraguayense 'Ghost Plant' do ideal when planted in a well-draining dirt. The most effective container for your cactus is a clay pot, simply somewhat larger as well as deeper than the plant's origin system.
This is a huge blunder as your plant will degrade swiftly if the water can not drain out of the pot, even if it has been planted in well-drained sandy dirt. They'll do much better in the ground than in a pot, though. Sterilizing dirt might appear like a complicated issue much better delegated professionals, but it's really a rather straightforward process that can be performed in your own kitchen. For the most part, it's better to err on the side of dryness than threat overwatering your succulent. However, just like all succulents, Aloe needs to never be permitted to rest in stationary water, as well as the plant ought to be meticulously kept an eye on to expect signs of overwatering. It has to have drainage openings since a pot without them or a pot that's as well huge can make correct watering impossible. Before starting the process, make certain your pot has a drainage opening. You can likewise utilize a routine food preparation pot if you do not have a pressure stove. This plant is conveniently prone to root rot so you need to see to it that's planted in well-draining soil and also pot. It's most likely that they'll have the ability to soak up wetness from the dirt around them, however hopefully the tarp will create the rainfall to pool much sufficient away to stop origin rot.
If you're interested in using neem oil to treat your whitefly invasion, it is essential to recognize that you can not just spray your succulents and anticipate the parasites to vanish. If you're seeking a new propagation technique to include in your bag of gardening techniques, why not try it out for on your own? If you have any type of various other favorite yellow succulents, comment them below and also perhaps we'll include them to this list. An underwatered succulent will essentially really feel like they have actually deflated fallen leaves. Nopalea cochenillifera 'Variegata' is an unusual spineless cactus with fleshy flattened customized stems often described as pads or leaves. Nopalea cochenillifera f. variegata, Opuntia cochenillifera f. Opuntia microdasys f. monstruosa, Opuntia microdasys var. This cactus is a crested type of Opuntia microdasys var. Lithops gracilidelineata is a dwarf succulent identified by its light white shade, fine reticulation of facial markings, as well as rugose leading surface. Several types of Espostoa are particularly prominent in growing because of their unclear white hirsute look.
Tumblr media
The white blossom has a spider-like or star-shaped appearance with tints of yellow sometimes. The leaves are covered with small little fuzz, offering the plant an unshaven appearance. Flowers are yellow, as much as 1.8 inches (4.5 centimeters) in diameter, and also arise from the fissure in between the fallen leaves. Flowers are pure white with a purplish-pink red stripe, up to 0.8 inches (2 cm) long as well as 1 inch (2.5 centimeters) in diameter. The radial backs are white and up to 0.8 inches (2 centimeters) long, while the radial backs are reddish-brown and up to 0.4 inches (1 cm) long. The main spines depend on 0.8 inches (2 cm) long, orange-brown, become whitish with age, as well as have a dark idea. They are deep-pink or purple, approximately 0.8 inches (2 cm) long and approximately 0.6 inches (1.5 cm) in size. Spines are variable in number, in between 14 and also 25, basically recurved, and also as much as 0.6 inches (1.5 centimeters) long. The stem matures to 12 inches (30 cm) high and up to 4 inches (10 cm) in size. It grows singular or typically in clumps of 6 to 10 plants. Plants must only be repotted if there is soggy soil or the plant has actually outgrown its container, which will just happen every a number of years.
Plant this succulent in well-drained sandy soil. When planning your best plant shelfie, take into consideration different combinations of plant colors, kinds, as well as elevations. In truth, we can discover succulents in a rainbow of colors. Excessive sun triggers stems to establish protective reddish or purple coloring and can in fact heat the stems. If you can grow cacti as well as succulents successfully, you can likely expand the popular Mammillaria without excessive problem. Mammillaria zeilmanniana 'Albiflora' is an attractive cactus with glossy eco-friendly stems that grow up to 5 inches (12.5 cm) high and approximately 3 inches (7.5 centimeters) in size. Mammillaria zeilmanniana var. albiflora, Mammillaria zeilmanniana f. This cactus is a white-flowered kind of Mammillaria zeilmanniana. They're easy to take care of and also are a great choice for both unskilled and also experienced garden enthusiasts. See extra at: How to Grow and Take Care Of Mammillaria. See a lot more at How to Grow as well as Care for Monanthes. Dry homes will require to water more frequently, even more moist residences less commonly. Do not water till the dirt is dry. When I obtained residence I waited a couple of days prior to repotting to let the soil completely dry out a little. Make certain the plant is completely dry prior to watering.
