   ( DO NOT MAKE A BADLY TIMED COMMENT TO SPIDER-MAN ABOUT MURDER. DO NOT, GWEN, PLEASE. ) Too many news outlets recycled the old footage of the villain Mysterio’s supposed death. The articles accusing Spider-Man of committing the deed reminded her too much of her own struggles. She follows the call of her spider-senses, tugged in the direction of an ill-placed apartment rooftop... && waits. 

   Luck rolls her dice, && she sees him swinging by, senses twinging as they do in the presence of another Spider-Person. “So, they framed you for murder too?” her lips murmur, staring up at his form, eyes wondering && understanding all at once. ( or not. make the comment, scare the poor kid. self-control? don’t know her. )

Almost as soon as the broadcast aired, someone was taking her to some safe house, saying that she would see Peter there. It was bad, not only had that Mysterio person framed her nephew, but now Peter’s identity was out there. The person she talked to seemed confident that it would get cleared up, but May was still worried. After what felt like an eternity, she saw Peter. She hugged him quickly before looking him over. “Are you okay?” She asked before biting her lip, “Peter, I know you didn’t do any of the stuff they’re saying, but I need to know about everything that happened in Europe.”

     okay, new york really did get the craziest shit going on with it, that was for sure, and now that there was a crime fighting spider protecting the city, eddie was sure that he’s seen it all. 

     and as he got the help from the spiderman, protecting him from some thugs who were trying to steal his car, he gave the kid a nod of his head. 

          “hey, thanks, i dunno what i would do if it wasn’t for you.”

OH GOD OH GOD OH GOD. she can feel her dad’s eyes on her the moment the announcement comes into the television. and his name is peter parker. oh my god. in retrospect, she knows it makes sense, she knows peter and how he sometimes vanished into thin air when trouble was around. her father shouts, calling his units and the cops under his charge as captain. they say something about not calling the man unless it was important. how can any of them believe peter parker is a murderer? sweet, handsome, gentle peter who stuttered his way into words and who tried to hide his tears when uncle ben died? 

and when he leaves and her mom with her, her little brothers away with her grandparents, she knows what she has to do. his number is one she knows by memory and her foot is anxious about it. “peter come on, pick up,pick up.” and there is almost a sigh of relief when a tone comes that she isn’t sure if it’s a voicemail or he answered. “peter, thank god. PLEASE LISTEN TO ME. i saw the news and i know you, pete.” she feels her own heart beating fast on her chest. where is he? she wonders. “i’m home alone, come by please my dad isn’t home, i can think of something. I BELIEVE IN YOU.” the world? fool. for believing the boy she knows is a criminal. 

a hand rubs her neck in distress and her voice is shaky. “I know you would never    i need to see you, peter. we will think of something. TALK TO ME.“

“Okay I know it’s technically the present but for me we were just in 2018 a few months ago so I’m going to say it: the future sucks, man. We were gone for five years and all our technology is still boring. Where are the flying cars? Where are they, Peter?” He’s kidding, sort of. While he is disappointed in the lack of interesting technology, he’s mostly exaggerating his disappointment to hide the actual issues he’s had since coming back from the blip.
