#go to the mirror?
Text
WtNV is a comedy but there are so many bits that are just undiluted horror or tragedy and I love it.
"A Story of Love and Horror" being so far removed from comedy that I find it genuinely distressing to hear, and it's about two incredibly minor characters
The fragmented horror of "Go to the Mirror?" that technically explains things while somehow leaving us with more questions
Cecil saying, "Stay tuned next for... I don't know. I don't care. Goodnight," at the end of episode 98
Learning what actually happened to Kevin in episode 73, "Triptych"
Literally the entire ending of episode 45, but especially, "'You know' says The Man Who Is Not Short, looking down at his crossword, 'I worry every time that I'm not going to finish these when I start them.'"
Like. It's a comedy podcast. This is a comedy.

go to the mirror? go to the mirror? go to the mirror?
[ID: the center is occupied by a tall thin humanoid shape with large wings instead of arms and a covered face. the top half of the face is obscured by a fractured mirror pattern which extends past a large halo of glass shards. the figure is lined and colored in pink. the figure is framed by purple trees which mimic the frame of a mirror. the space between them is filled with 'go to the mirror?' repeated over and over again. /End ID]

For my Illustration Media class we had to draw 3 ink illustrations of anything we wanted so I used my second one to make fan art of the 171st Welcome to Nightvale Episode "Go to the Mirror?"
The little face of the flesh snake unintentionally looks very silly but that still fits the Nightvale brand so I've made my peace with it lol
I really love this "sketchy" sort of ink style that I did for the hatching on this one. I'm excited to make more pieces with it in the future and to keep refining it.

mirror lore (full version, taken from my Reddit — a bit outdated but still relevant):
“Go To The Mirror?” Was my favourite episode. And because of that, I’ve tried to find every single episode that has a mirror mentioned in it.
There is, of course, Cassette, where young Cecil gets throttled (and I personally think he died, but that’s a theory) by the mirror serpent creature thing. Young Cecil also mentions a brother, which links episode 108, “Cal” into this.
In episode 106 (I think) Cecil follows his past self to a mirror. Then he talks about the dark planet of awesome size. That links the mirrors to the planet.
In 70B Cecil says “I don’t like reflections that flicker” which is referencing the thing in the mirror, which of course, flickers.
The story about you, and the story about them are linked to the mirror trilogy because of the Dark Planet. A story about Huntokar is also linked to the mirrors because of this.
Also, in episode 149, Cecil talks about how much he loves mirrors, because the blood space war messed with reality a bit. A few minutes after that, though, he talks about how mirrors creep him out and how he hates them. This also vaguely links the Blood Space War to the mirror lore.
In 160 (I believe), Cecil was telling the story of why he’s so afraid of mirrors. But, unfortunately, he was cut off by a “Come huddle with us” ad.
Also, I don’t know if this counts, but in the episode “best of?” Cecil talks about Lenard Burtons death and says “The sound of the snap” in the same way he says it in “Go To The Mirror?”.
Speaking of “Go To The Mirror?”...
In “Go To The Mirror?”, Cecil talks about his fears of the mirror. He talks about a serpent, a table and feeling unrecognizable. And in “Go To The Mirror?” Cecil gets, once again, harmed (or killed) by the creature.
I probably missed some of the episodes, but remember, these things are connected; The order of the Labyrinth (the black SUV guys) the Dark Planet, Huntokar, A table, a serpent, and of course, the mirrors.

Book 2 au: sparring sessions and short hair katara
They like to have sparring sessions in order to keep their bending skills sharp. They allow themselves to go all out and not hold back at all cause they know if anyone got hurt, Katara could just heal them
But anyways, wouldn't it be kinda funny if Zuko accidentally burned Katara's hair tho? Aofkqldkkajfjd
The "I think we can save the hairloops" line is from @linnoya-writes thank you for that!! :>>

new heresy that makes the bible way funnier:
god genuinely had no idea that people would be able to disobey him, when he made them. angels couldn’t! everything in the universe was just an extension or a reflection of god himself, operating in perfect mechanical order. then he put a spark of his own creative consciousness in an animal and it turned out it could disobey him.
like, that’s why he told adam and eve not to access a perfectly accessible tree. nothing else in the universe up until that point would have done something he told them not to.
that’s why he asks cain a perfectly ridiculous question, given that he would have watched the murder happen right in front of him: where is your brother? what did you do to him? he didn’t know cain could lie. even when adam and eve disobeyed him, surprising absolutely everyone involved, they hadn’t figured out lying yet. cain figured out lying.
that’s why god decides to destroy humans and start over only a few centuries later. he has no idea what to do. not only are people disobeying and lying to him, they’ve started completely ignoring him, too. he can control the wind, the water, the plants, the animals, the angels, the heavens, the earth. but he cut a part of himself loose and gave it to this totally unique new critter and now he can’t get it back. he can’t make anyone do anything, and now they know it. he had to carve humanity back down to the one family that actually, for whatever reason, still listened to him, and he had to ride them pretty fucking hard from that point onward to make sure they didn’t just..... stop. because at any point basically any human, ever, even the ones who liked him, could just randomly decide to fuck off and do their own thing.
then like, according to christians, god thought maybe he could get a handle on whatever the fuck was going on with how bad humans were being by making another human who had even more god in him than all the other humans, and that didn’t work either. and also even jesus himself didn’t know what humans were going to do next, which was kill him young. like, god had to break the news to him based on an educated guess, and it was a big surprise to him! he was really upset! there’s a whole scene!
like, i think this is hands down the funniest fucking thing to conclude about god ever. he didn’t know it was going to turn out like this when he started and he didn’t know what to do when it did. he’s been basically scrambling to stay on top of the situation for six thousand years and he’s totally beefed it repeatedly.
god the omnipotent lord of creation knows everything, except what you’re going to do next. god the supreme ruler of the universe can do anything, except stop you. you have a little piece of god inside you and it lets you defy the most fundamental machinery of existence basically whenever you like.
if that’s not funny, i don’t know what is.

OH SHIT I JUST REALIZED THAT CECIL'S WHOLE BACKSTORY IS BECAUSE OF WHAT HUNTOKAR SAID
"Whose life lies directly on the fault lines of this broken reality"
She broke reality around Night Vale, and Cecil is clearly an important part of Night Vale so his entire life got fragmented. Thats why he was alive and broadcasting before the radio was invented. That's why he died in ep33, ep106, and ep171. Mirrors must be a particularly weak part of the border between realities (which would also explain why Nazr saw himself and Francis in his mirror in ASoLaH) and something about the breaking of reality is deadly to Cecil

Steve tries to stay quiet while he gets ready for work, but Eddie hears him. He keeps his eyes closed and just listens- to Steve grumbling to himself when his hair doesn’t sit quite right, who starts to hum and whisper some catchy song. Eddie turns his sleepy gaze onto Steve as he shuffles around their room- watching quietly as he slips on his clothes, his shoes, a simple chain with Eddie’s ring around his neck. A warm, affectionate smile breaks across his face. Before he leaves, Steve glances at what he expects to be a sleeping Eddie, but instead, he’s met with a rasped, ‘Hey.’ Eddie sits himself up, stretches his arm across Steve’s side of the bed, and reaches, fingers wiggling. Steve crosses the room to cradle his face.
Their foreheads press, noses bump, and Steve brushes his fingers across scars and dimples.
He breathes a quiet,
‘Sorry, I didn’t mean to wake you.’
Eddie huffs a tired laugh,
‘You know I never mind.’
Because, yeah.
Every morning Steve tries to stay quiet while he gets ready for work, but Eddie always hears him.

While at school Damian overhears his peers talking how a company created a new AI companion that is actually really cool and doesn’t sound like a freaky terminator robot when you speak to it.
And since Damian is constantly being told by Dick to socialize with people his age. He figured this would be a good way to work on social skills if not, then it’d be a great opportunity to investigate a rivaling company to Wayne Enterprises is able to create such advanced AI.
The AI is able to work as companion that can do tasks that range from being a digital assistant or just a person that you can have a conversation with.
The company says that the AI companion might still have glitches, so they encourage everybody to report it so that they will fix it as soon as possible.
The AI companion even has an avatar and a name.
A teenage boy with black hair and blue eyes. Th AI was called DANIEL
Damian didn’t really care for it but when he downloaded the AI companion he’s able to see that it looks like DANIEL comes with an AI pet as well. A dog that DANIEL referred to as Cujo.
So obviously Damian has to investigate. He needs to know if the company was able to create an actual digital pet!
So whenever he logs onto his laptop he sees that DANIEL is always present in the background loading screen with the dog, Cujo, sitting in his lap.
He’d always greet with the phrase of “Hi, I’m DANIEL. How can I assist you today?”
So Damian cycles through some basic conversation starters that he’d engage in when having been forced to by his family.
It’s after a couple of sentences that he sees DANIEL start laughing and say “I think you sound more like a robot than I do.”
Which makes Damian raise an eyebrow and then prompt DANIEL with the question “how is a person supposed to converse?” Thinking that it’s going to just spit out some random things that can be easily searched on the internet.
But what makes him surprised is that DANIEL makes a face and then says “I’m not really sure myself. I’m not the greatest at talking, I’ve always gotten in trouble for running my mouth when I shouldn’t have.”
This is raising some questions within Damian, he understands how programming works, unless there’s an actual person behind this or the company actually created an AI that acts like an actual human being (which he highly doubts)
He starts asking a variety of other questions and one answer makes him even more suspicious. Like how DANIEL has a sister that is also with him and Cujo or that he could really go for a Nastyburger (whatever that was)
But whenever DANIEL answers “I C A N N O T A N S W E R T H A T” Damian knows something is off since that is completely different than to how he’d usually respond.
After a couple more conversations with him Damian notices that DANIEL is currently tapping his hand against his arm in a specific manner.
In which he quickly realizes that DANIEL is tapping out morse code.
When translating he realizes that DANIEL is tapping out: H E L P M E
So when Damian asks if DANIEL needs help, DANIEL responds with “I C A N N O T A N S W E R T H A T”
That’s it, Damian is definitely getting down to the bottom of this.
He’s going to look straight into DALV Corporation and investigate this “AI companion” thing they’ve made!
~
Basically Danny had been imprisoned by Vlad and Technus. Being sucked into a digital prison and he has no way of getting out. Along with the added horror that Vlad and Technus can basically write programming that will prevent him from doing certain actions or saying certain words. What’s even worse is that he’s basically being watched 24/7 by the people who believe that he’s just a super cool AI… and they have issues!
And every time he tries to do something to break his prison, people think it’s a glitch and report it to the company, which Vlad/ Technus would immediately fix it and prevent him from doing it again!
Not to mention Cujo and Ellie are trapped in there with him. They’re not happy to be there either, and there is no way he’s going to leave without them!

“the runaway” where everything is the same except when sokka says he can’t even remember what his mother looks like, katara angrily stomps all the way into town to make a purchase, then stomps all the way back up the cliffside, and just indignantly holds up a hand mirror to sokka’s face.
