Đối với hệ thống miễn dịch: Những nghiên cứu thực nghiệm đã chứng minh Đông trùng hạ thảo có khả năng tăng cường hoạt động miễn dịch tế bào cũng như miễn dịch dịch thể. Cụ thể là có tác dụng nâng cao hoạt tính của đại thực bào và tế bào NK, điều tiết phản ứng ứng đáp của tế bào lympho B, tăng cường một cách có chọn lọc hoạt tính của tế bào T ức chế, làm tăng nồng độ các kháng thể IgG, IgM trong huyết thanh. Đặc biệt, Viện nghiên cứu nội tiết Thượng Hải (Trung Quốc) cũng đã dùng Đông trùng hạ thảo điều trị cho các bệnh nhân bị liệt dương đạt kết quả khá tốt. Như vậy, có thể thấy Đông trùng hạ thảo quả thực là một trong những vị thuốc đông y có khả năng cải thiện đời sống tình dục trực tiếp hoặc gián tiếp thông qua tác dụng nâng đỡ bồi dưỡng cơ thể. Sein Name lässt sich vom Mineral Beryll, einem beryllium­halti­gen Edel­stein, ableiten (altgriechisch βήρυλλος beryllos, lateinisch beryllus). In diesem Mine­ral sowie im Bertran­dit ist auch der größte Teil des in der Erd­kruste vorhan­denen Berylliums gebun­den. Beryl­lium gehört zu den selte­ner vor­kommen­den Metal­len. Ent­deckt wurde es als Be­stand­teil des Mine­rals Beryll bereits 1798 von L. Vauquelin und wegen des süß­lichen Ge­schmacks der iso­lier­ten beryl­lium­halti­gen Ver­bindun­gen (z. B. des Hydro­xids) zu­nächst Glucine genannt. Ele­menta­res Beryl­lium wurde erst­mals 1828 von Friedrich Wöhler und unab­hängig davon von Antoine Bussy herge­stellt. Im Perio­den­sys­tem steht Beryl­lium in der zweiten Haupt­gruppe, bzw. der 2. IUPAC-Gruppe, und zählt daher zu den Erd­alkali­metal­len. Das stahl­graue Leicht­metall ist sehr hart und spröde, hat einen höhe­ren Elas­tizitäts­modul als Stahl und wird meist als Legie­rungs­zusatz verwen­det. In Verbin­dun­gen ist es zwei­wertig.
