Something I just realized, is that Loki and Sylvie not only are the same person in different timelines, but that they have also both been, once, a single conciousness, one person in the same sense in which I am one person, or you are one person. Meaning they would share childhood memories.
Let me explain - I would like to draw a distinction between two types of variants in the show, let's call them surviving variants and free variants. Free variants are all people existing naturally as a result of the multiverse endlessly expanding. An example would be the three Peter Parker variants, or all variants we see in What If...?. There's an infinite number of free variants because there is an infinite number of existing universes.
Surviving variants are the tragic result of TVA pruning. Most die during pruning sessions, but a few lucky ones make it out through fighting or the TVA's will. These would be all of the main characters in "Loki". This Loki is a surviving variant, so are Sylvie, Mobius, O.B, Renslayer, etc. Even the other Lokis at the end of time are surviving variants. The difference between these surviving variants is that, because their worlds were pruned, they are all that's left of them. They have no timeline they belong to and nowhere to go back to. Even after the multiverse is released, trying to go back to your original timeline would mean there's already yet another you in your place, because killing HWR means all timelines were retroactively never pruned, so you (minor y) were never taken from it, but You (capital Y) are still left as the aftermath of a destruction that never took place in this new reality. Sylvie couldn't go back to her Asgard if she wanted to, because that Asgard was never pruned, she was never taken away from it, and there would be another Sylvie (maybe still named Loki) in there, being her parents' daughter and brother's sister, a free Sylvie/Loki in the place that was once our Sylvie's. I think that's the true tragedy of surviving variants. The newly released timelines don't have a vacant spot for them to return to.
Now, why do I think that means Loki and Sylvie come from the same one entity? In a canon divergence kind of way. Since the release of the multiverse, no new surviving variants could be created. You only have free, natural growth variants, and these variants could have a multitude of origins. Let's take the Peter Parker example again. These three Peters have the same name and powers, and roughly the same stories and personalities. But they look quite different. They aren't fully equal - for example, one of them can shoot webbing from his wrists while the other need mechanical devices to do so. You can name more examples if you rewatch the film, which I'm not going to do simply for the sake of making this one post. You know what I mean. The point I'm trying to make is that it's safe to say they are different. Maybe their parents conceived them on different days. Maybe a recessive gene here and there got out in one of them but not the other. As for the wrist webbing, maybe the spider was slightly different. You can come up with a million watsonian explanations as to why they're different, and I think it's safe to say they're different people, even if they'd be genetically the same as if they were brothers. If we continue to examine their differences from a watsonian perspective, we can even say when the split in the timeline ocurred: definitely before they were born. Peter Parker is a human being, and unlike Lokis, he can't change his appearance with magic, so their physical differences must be genetic. This sets these three variants apart from the Doctor Strange variants we've come to know, who all look like Benedict Cumberbatch. Again, watsonian lenses: if they're all Benedict Cumberbatch, they must all have split paths sometime after Strange was born. Otherwise they'd look completely different.
So you'd assume all Loki variants are different people if we go by looks alone, but all Loki variants we'd had the chance to know are surviving variants, not free variants like the Peters and Doctors Strange. Loki variants came to be when Loki in the old Sacred Timeline decided to go a little off the paved road. And we know they act quick - as soon as someone steps on the wrong leaf, a line shoots up at the TVA monitor. Nothing goes unchecked. Nothing goes unseen. Not a single mistake is forgiven.
So Sylvie being a girl wasn't what set off the TVA. Sylvie looking different wasn't what got her world pruned. If I remember correctly, as a young Loki, she was playing with toys when she got captured, so it could be something as simple as picking up the wrong toy. Something pathetic and insignificant. Maybe the Sacred Timeline dictated Loki would pick a toy knight instead of a toy horse, so young Loki is taken from her home to be judged and pruned for it, but she escapes, changes her name, dyes her hair, spends centuries on the run.
Our Loki picked the right toy. He lived by the Sacred Timeline for long enough to survive, but he made a mistake in the end and he was captured too. Eventually, he met himself, a Loki that was captured many centuries before.
But that isn't another Loki from another timeline - that's him, before they split when they took different toys, or sat somewhere else to play, or had a different thought at the same time. They were cut in two but before they were one and the same - a single Loki who became two.
As for their appearance, I'd simply point to the idea of Loki being a genderfluid shapeshifter. If it were anything else, such as Laufey having a daughter instead of a son, both Laufey, his wife and new child would have been pruned centuries before. Loki and their timeline survived, though, and kept growing branch after branch forever.
I think this interpretation adds another layer of depth to Sylki that I'd love to explore. The idea of both of them sharing a same conciousness once, a same body - changed and shifted but still the same - the same memories even, would be beautiful to watch, and it would help ground their oneness and sameness on a more solid base. Talking about the childhood mischief they enjoyed when it was only one Loki, their mother's love, the memory of being one, the anger from Sylvie's part knowing she did get to live in Asgard for centuries - only it wasn't her, but the other her, who threw it all away in a fit of greed, almost being glad she escaped that destiny, asking Loki what is it that he made of her life and hating him for it, yet knowing the seed of the anger had been in them since childhood - she simply forgot about it when everything changed. The cosmic horror of being one person turned into two. Love bringing unity to them again.

that can't be it. srsly?!?!?! but no, yes i am MAD that we didn't get to see Sylki kiss but i am even more madder that we didn't even got the chance to hear out how Sylvie feels, BECAUSE SHE FEELS A LOT AND YOU CANNOT TELL ME OTHERWISE! WHY?
Just the way she looks at Loki when she found out that Loki had the choice to kill her and the universe will be saved, but he didn't. CAN YOU EVEN IMAGINE HOW SHE FELT WHEN SHE FOUND OUT ABOUT THAT?
Tumblr media
When Loki goes out to the Loom, we can see how Sylvie is frantic and says "I need to get out there" so she can be with him, but she can't and all she can do is watch, not even knowing what will happen to him. YOU CAN SEE ALL THE CARE AND LOVE IN HER EYES
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this one shot of everyone being just silhouettes and we can see the light center at her only for a while but we can clearly see the look on her face. her hand on her mouth just shows how fckng worried she is
Tumblr media Tumblr media
also THIS
WE CAN SEE THAT SYLVIE UNDERSTANDS. SHE KNOWS THAT LOKI KNOWS WHAT SHE WANTS. AND THAT IS TO HAVE A NORMAL LIFE. SHE CAN SEE WHAT LOKI IS ABOUT TO DO, SHE UNDERSTANDS THAT HE’S DOING THIS FOR HER (for all of them ofc) AND WHY SHE SAID, “He’s giving us a chance”. WE CAN CLEARLY SEE THE HURT IN HER EYES!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“for you” (FCK I AM WRECKED 😭😭😭)
SERIOUSLY, I'M PRETTY SURE A LOT OF THINGS ARE GOING ON IN HER MIND. THEY DIDN'T EVEN GET THE CHANCE TO TALK!!! AND WHY DIDN'T WE GET MORE OF SYLVIE'S SIDE IN THIS MATTER?!
Sylvie is new to this kind of feelings, that's why it's hard for her to let it out, BUT WE CAN CLEARLY SEE THAT SHE DOES CARE FOR HIM SO MUCH AND I HATE IT SO MUCH THAT THEY DIDN'T EVEN LET HER EXPLORE IT OUT MORE.
SYLVIE IS LITERALLY THE HEART OF THE WHOLE SERIES. Everything Loki does boils down to her/for her (and ofc for his newfound friends and family) and to think everything started because of her and we didn't even get a chance to see what she'll do now. YOU ALSO CANNOT TELL ME THAT SHE WILL JUST LIVE ON WITH HER LIFE AND NOT THINK OF LOKI BECAUSE SHE WILL OKAY?! SHE CAN GO AFTER HIM IF SHE WANTS (she still have He Who Remains tempad bracelet thingy soooo)
ALSO LAST THING I am also MAD that we finally see how Loki is when he falls in love that he literally sacrifices EVERYTHING, GOES OUT OF HIS WAY, GOES BACK TO HIS VILLANOUS HABIT JUST TO FIND HER AND IT ALL ENDS UP LIKE THAT?!?!??! I WILL NOT ACCEPT IT!

The second season is honestly becoming increasingly harder to watch because what are they trying to do?
The show is titled Loki but he feels like a side character is his own show, I know many MANY things are happening but literally Loki is not the central figure driving the story.
My expectations were low but I did not know Disney could do this much worse!!!!
What the FUCK was episode 3 with the Miss Minutes thing and weird little Ravonna/Victor attempt???
Marvel is just getting worse and worse with what they're putting out, I want the character or even narrative driven stories back where people were well fleshed out, had consistency and their actions made sense to who there were!!! This feels like just trying to sell shock value because you know you have a base of consumers who will stay to see what happens to their favourite character.
They are absolutely ignoring all the material they have available to them to work with! This Loki has only experienced things till the Avengers movie, there is so much character deep dive they could do! What is the point of giving them their own show and then not talking about them at all??
I'll come to the queer things later cause boy do I have a list for that, but first of all, Loki is not a new character in any capacity??? He has been loved and is arguably the biggest fan favourite since his introduction, the amount of theories about him and what people would like to see is very well known!! Right in front of them is his still unclear feelings in his adoption, about being a Jotun, loosing his family and the complicated relationships with them. I can see they are acknowledging his God of Mischief status a little bit but!! Trickster!! Let us see him be a wild card properly!! Not in the sense of betraying his new TVA family - that's what it is and you can fight me on that- but being chaotic!! Yes, using his magic like with Brad!! SHOW ME HE IS A GOD!!!
The worst thing is how lost everyone feels, like I'm not talking about the whole free will conundrum everyone is going through, that is spectacular! Unfortunately it is not coming across, we literally don't get to hear any of the characters talk about what they think of it. There was the key lime pie moment but no follow up to what that is for Loki? It's just one crisis after another, maybe rehash some of what has already happened, bring back the seriousness of this!! The entire multiverse is at stake but we'll make it look like whimsical wishy-washy stuff??!??!!!
Don't get me wrong, I am LOVING the time travel aspect of it, where it looks like Loki/Mobius are on cute dates. But then make it real, the fucking queerbaiting is ridiculous. The throw-away comment in season one about looking being bi was just that and nothing else. And I'm not saying this cause aww they look cute together! But also cause the development of their relationship has been as such!! They have been very dependent on each other and that's not being addressed at all.
I know there are multiple posts about a possible betrayal and my fear is that they're going to try to use that to basically change everything about the characters again, a lot of OOC based on the fact that oh yeah they're going through an existential crises so it makes sense.
Sylkie made barely any sense to me even apart from the whole selfcest issue- they just imposed a the structure of what a straight relationship should be where there was barely any chemistry. S1 E3 had them as really good chaotic siblings/twins and then adding the romantic tones to that really ruined it. Trying to bring it back, possibly, is just weird cause so far they want very different things. These people just don't align together, stop forcing them to? The fact that they refuse to even talk about that kiss shows that they are keeping it open and not just acknowledging that "hey, we don't want the same things in life and I'm happy for you, you matter a lot to me but a romantic relationship is not happening. Also cause you know, we're the same person, lol."
Sylvie as a character is also very confusing rn, there is honestly no need for her to keep coming back in this way??? I'm going to reserve further opinions because half the season is left but I dont expect anything to really get better.

I didn't like Sylvie in S1, mostly because of the whole sylki thing, but S2 has made me her number 1 defender.
It blows my mind that people watched the show and went away with 'wow, Sylvie's a bitch' because it just reeks of misogyny and not having the capacity to understand a complex character.
Sylvie, since the age of 10-ish, has been fleeing a constant threat to her existence and grew up in apocalypses. She couldn't have anything permanent other than herself because she has to keep moving and anything she leaves behind is destroyed. No friends, no family, and no universe of her own.
Then she gets put in a room with the one guy who ruined her entire life and countless others, of course she's going to be determined to kill him. She started as a scared child, it makes sense that she became and angry adult. Nothing, not even Loki begging her, could stop He Who Remain(ed)s death.
Tumblr media
And lets be honest he deserved it.
Then in the finale, she watches a variant of herself and a friend she faced hell along side sentence himself to an eternity of sitting on a throne, holding the multiverse in place. Loki gave everyone a chance to live and, most importantly, a choice. To stay at the TVA or go home. Verity (Hunter B-15) and Frank (Casey) chose to stay, Mobius found it too difficult without Loki and left, and Sylvie's choice was obvious.
Tumblr media
It's unfair to be angry at her for showing happiness in the finale. Time has clearly passed since Loki left, though we're not shown how much, of course she's managed to move on. I don't see anyone pissed off at B-15 for continuing with their life? What about Casey or Ouroboros?
Also, we saw Sylvie's face as Loki made his sacrifice.
Tumblr media
Does she look happy to you?
That is a face of horror and distress as she watches yet another person in her life essentially give up his freedom while she survives.
Do you ever think about the survivors guilt Sylvie has? That in all of the apocalypses she hid in, she saw men, women, and children be killed knowing she technically could save them but it would make them a variant and doom them further. That she is the only one from her own universe that wasn't reset, making her the lone survivor of her world?
Even with the infinite possibility for the future multiverse, those worlds will have their own Sylvie. There's no place for her there, so she has to make her own somewhere else.
Tumblr media
From the end of Season 1 to most of Season 2, Sylvie has been fighting for the chance to live a normal life. When she gets it, through such suffering and loss, is she really supposed to be miserable forever because one person is gone? She quite literally got the only thing she's ever wanted, that's got to give her a lot of relief.
Tumblr media
Don't be the person to think 'this silly woman gets between my gay ship, brrrr rage what a bitch' or take her as one dimensional.
She's selfish because she's sacrificed everything she had, I think by now she's allowed to be. Sophia Di Martino did a wonderful job and deserves to have her character be enjoyed and understood, not labelled as annoying and 'the real villain'.
Some people only paid mind to the shipping when watching the show, ignoring the plot, and it really shows.

Y'all.
Episode 4.
It's the best piece of work Marvel has made after they made IW and Endgame.
spoiler alert 🚨
.
.
.
.
.
.
lemme start off with our favourite Miss Jolly Rancher Unhinged Clock and Victorian-Era HWR Fangirl. I KNEW Ravonna had somehow helped HWR in building the TVA, but him erasing her memories was straight up evil.
Then we come to the absolutely gruesome deaths of Dox and the others. HOLY SHIT MISS JOLLY RANCHER IS AWFUL like she was enjoying every second of Dox and her hunters literally getting crushed to their deaths. B-15 was traumatised, to say the least and you can see on Ravonna and Brad's faces a hint of disgust. But Miss Minutes grinning like that - outright disturbing.
I can't get over OB and Victor fanboying over each other's work - it was so funny yet wholesome.
Now let's talk about Loki and Sylvie. As a diehard Sylki stan you know I am, my fangirling heart was overjoyed seeing these two lovesick ducks working together willingly! I mean, yea, they did have that rather awkward talk in Pie Land (mind you that's it's official name henceforth) but after that they worked together as teammates! Now I must say, I completely agree with Sylvie on snapping on Mobius, because, well, yeah, the multiverse is a bigger priority than pie and I legit don't get why tf antis hate on Sylvie for doing so. Like you hated her for not giving a damn abt the TVA + the multiverse, but now when she stood up to do so y'all are hating on her again?? Like?? Make up ur mind, smh.
Anyways, back to Sylki. Sylvie got stuck in the elevator and the way she and Loki worriedly called out each other's names was so soft! And the "You ok?" trope CAME BACK OMG! THAT PHRASE IS LITERALLY THE BACKBONE OF SYLKI! When I tell you my fangirling heart screamed with joy omg-
The the whole paradox scene which brought Ep 1 back in a circle. I absolutely loved the way our Loki realised what he had to do and went real slow to prune his past self just so that Past Loki could get a glimpse of Sylvie; which would then lead him to be more determined than ever to go look for her. And I quite literally died on Sylvie being confused af as to wtf she just witnessed.
Then there's the telephone scene. OH MY GOD it was literally OB all this time when fans were out here speculating it was Kang or someone lmao. Both Loki and Sylvie yelling simultaneously to turn the security thing off gives out so much Couple Vibes, I absolutely loved it AAHHAHAH-
AND. THE. BRAD. SCENE. OOF.
our friendly neighbourhood lovesick ducks teaming up to enchant Brad was just too good. Loki in his hot, creepy voice luring Brad into a dark area while Sylvie very swiftly just straight up grabbing his face from the back - pure horror. Absolutely loved it, 10/10. Tho I must say, to do execute elaborate scheme, these two must have done some detailed planning (=more Sylki moments we were robbed off).
BUT THAT ENDING DUCKING MURDERED ME BROO OMG
Can we talk abt Victor's redemption? Man had been portrayed as evil since Quantumania, and has been manipulated by both Ravonna and Miss Jolly Rancher, but at the end of the day, he was a sweetheart. Man fanboys OB and basically became besties with him and Casey, worked together to create the solution to a mess he most certainly didn't want to be a part of, and then himself stepped up to fix the Loom once and for all to prove to everyone (and not let Sylvie's choice of sparing him go to waste) that tho he contained HWR's DNA, he wasn't HWR - he was a far better person HWR could have ever been. Seeing him getting spaghettified was tragically heart-wrenching, man deserved so much better :(
BUT HOLY SHIT DID THAT ONE HECK OF A GODDAMN CLIFFHANGER LEFT ME SPEECHLESS LIKE WTF WAS THAT?? U can't just kill off a character who had redeemed himself, and then make our main character and his homies watch literally EVERYTHING THEY WORKED SO HARD FOR GET ANNIHILATED TO THE GROUND-
But we know our God of Mischief isn't dead, and so are his homies eheheh.
However the looks on everyone's face was tragic. Loki knew all was lost and had tears in his eyes. Sylvie looked like she had accepted defeat and her death. Mobius and OB were in denial, refusing to believe that Victor was dead. Casey and B-15 looked horrified, as they realised what was to come now upon them.
Tldr, this episode was an ABSOLUTE BANGER. IM READY TO CLAIM IT SUPERIOR THAN ENDGAME, come and fight me. Its a top cinematic piece, and the suspense to Ep 5 is eating me up.
Ig i should go and study for the 4 tests this week before ep 5 ;-;

Sylki analysis eps 1 to 5:
Not trusting the the show they will pull up a satisfying solution in 50 minutes (with a ton of other plot) does not mean I'm not rooting for Loki/Sylvie.
I think the path Loki is on can be pretty awesome for me as a Loki fan, so it might be a great ending either way, but I still want a solution to Sylvie's arc.
That Eric Martin interview going around obvi caused some disconnect (with Sylvie hate on the rise again, not a surprise), so it might be worth looking at what we got so far.
Ep. 1
Loki is still shaken up from the evebts at the citadel. He is afraid of the Kang threat, but also hung up on his fight with Sylvie and tries to make sense of it. He didn't want to fight her, he wanted more time.
Their reunion is teased when we see Sylvie in the elvator, and Loki clearly emotionally affected by it.
The ep ends literally with: 'We gotta find Sylvie!'
Ep 2.
Loki goes after X-5 to get info about Sylvie, to find her. The narrative flow still makes srnse here. Sylvie is still one of his top priorities and Loki is even willing to torture to find her. (Preventing the Kang threat is still tied to finding Sylvie of course, but that does not erase Loki's emotional investment.).
When he does find her, that's where the whole thing shifts.
If you look at Sylvie the moment she sees him, you can see that she's shocked, afraid and immediatly pulls her walls up.
She is still very much affected by him, but doesn't let it show ('soft gets you killed' she can't be soft).
Sylvie works with Loki regardless, they combine their magic (after he basically jumped to her side).
After the initial threat that brought them together for this is gone, the drama starts (cause you got to have drama, right?)
Loki wants Sylvie to stay. She doesn't.
And Loki is clearly hurt by that.
Ep. 3
The drama culminates. Loki and Sylvie both want different things. Sylvie still advocates for free will and fighting a threat when it arrives (Victor as a Kang variant), Loki is for control and preventing the threat beforehand.
Sylvie still cares about Loki and challenges him, by asking him: "Do you care about anything but the TVA?"
He could say: "You" and resolve the conflict. But he doesn't, because Loki does not realize that's what she wants to hear, so he steps back and gives her space, thinking it's the right thing.
At that point, they could dance around each other forever.
Ep. 4
The conflict gets adressed. In the pie room scene they both make their opposing view points clear. Loki voices his frustration. He is clearly pissed when he assumes Sylvie takes the "easy" way. That's not what he hoped for.
He wanted her to work out the "hard" way with him together.
"We are Gods". Both of them. Sylvie also has a responsibility.
Sylvie does not argue that point. Or run.
She ponders and follows Loki out of the room a bit later.
Ep. 5
Further adressing of the conflict. Sylvie still argues in favor of free will. She does care about the variants and wants them to thrive on their time lines, she is not as emotionally attached to them and can be more neutral.
Loki has formed emotional attachement.
So he does care in a more selfish way.
They still don't resolve the issue, because Loki only admits his desire to be with his friends and doesn't include Sylvie. And it hurts her.
She tries to be neutral, to encourage Loki to write his own destiny, but the way face falls is truely hard to watch. In the end she can't keep her wall up anymore.
She reflects at the record store. If she didn't care about Loki she would not have needed to soothe herself with music.
The song, similar to "kozmic blues" at the end of 2x2, is about losing everything and being free (but possibly able to get back on one's feet again). But it's a blues. It is a sad way of living.
Sylvie does not want to get attached to avoid hurt. But she is not happy with that.
When she realizes the tva's failsafe kicking in, she goes straight to Loki to help again. That's a constant in the whole second season. Sylvie does not want to control, but she also does not want people to die.
She always helps, but in a neutral way, opposed to Loki's approach.
There is a weight to Loki's and Sylvie's interactions in 2x5.
She is the last one he seeks out, because she is a) important to him and b) he dreads the emotional fall out.
Sylvie is also the last one to dissolve and the first Loki slips back to.
The last soundbit he hears is her question: " What makes a Loki a Loki?"
Both of them are Lokis and will have to figure that out.
He manages to control his slipping because if her and then realizes he is able to focus on all of the people he cares about, hence the 360° turn he takes, that lands back on Sylvie.
So logically, 2x6 should finally resolve the conflict, adress their emotions and have Sylvie learn to trust Loki.
They would work together and balance each other out as different aspects of the same personality.
So it does make sense.
The disconnect imo stems from the fact, that some straight men of a certain age don't know how to fucking communicate properly, so their characters don't know either.
It could still end in drama, but Sylki endgame would still make sense narrativly. The narrative is just pretty damn bumpy.

@miss-d-tiare Answering here because it wouldn't fit in a whole comment.
So, let's recap: I made a post expressing my opinion about Sylki, and you reblogged my post and commented on it saying I am a drama queen and that I should get myself a real problem, and when I answered you answered too once again this time not reblogging (mh, maybe because I told you it's just free notes for me and you are giving me visibility that way, mhh...)
Anyway, since I don't want to drag this conversation forever, I'll answer all of your points and quit this once and for all.
Dude, you have never experienced the pain and suffering of a one-sided crush? He likes her so much that, maybe for the first time ever, he's behaving like a normal person would do instead of just taking everything he wants like the spoiled and childish god hengrew up to be. This is a new level of rejection that actually impacts on him, and that's why he looks miserable.
Yes, I had one-sided crushes, more than one, and yes, they do make you miserable, but for different reasons. And the people I had a crush on didn't try to kill me or hurt me.
It's not the first time he falls in love, he said it himself in Episode 3 Season 1: he's had partners, but they didn't last that long. Furthermore, I would highly recommend you rewatch Thor (2011) and all the movies where Loki appears, because he has never been a selfish person, he says it himself (again) many times: when he tells Thor that he doesn't want the throne but wanted to be his equal when he tells Sylvie that he didn't want the throne but just wanted to see her safe and sound… So no, Sylvie is not the heroine who saved him and is changing him, he was like that already from time but was misunderstood by everyone else. And she is no exception because for the entirety of Season 1 (especially in Episode 6) and Season 2, she's still doubting and even said it openly that he still only wants the throne, and keeps refusing to fully understand him.
And let's not forget that IT IS A FICTIONAL SHOW!!! Some conflict MUST happen, or else people would complain it's too boring. The only character who could be so important to Loki besides of his brother is Sylvie, anyone can see that's only logical that the plot conflict involves both of them.
First of all: are you aware that movies and TV series are made to entertain people? Are you aware that social media just like Tumblr are made for people to express their opinions about things? So you saying "It's fictional!1!11" is just stupid because almost everyone here on Tumblr is here to talk about what they like on their blogs, you are doing it by responding to my posts. Since movies and TV series are fiction we shouldn't talk about them at all, by your logic. I am a psychology student, so I like to do psychological analyses of characters and give my opinion, you are completely free to agree or not, I don't care. But you can't come to my blog and tell me that I'm a drama queen and that I have to find real problems, that's just plainly disrespectful. And I already have my problems in my life, thank you very much.
This is not about conflict and entertainment: this is about Marvel making horrible decisions. You can create excellent conflict between characters without romanticizing abuse and domestic violence. And all of this wouldn't have happened if the directors of the series hadn't insisted on Sylki being a romance. If it was a friendship we'd probably be all quiet and just shrug it off with a "Sylvie is a horrible friend". But since this is romantic, well... some of y'all need to understand IT IS NOT OKAY for someone to be violent towards the other partner in a relationship. Romance + violence = ABUSE.
And if you don't understand where the abuse is, I suggest you read this post from @shadow-turtle-234 (forgive me for dragging you in </3).
People should definitely stop treating the relationship between FICTIONAL CHARACTERS as an example of real life human interactions, ffs! They're complex in their own way, and appealing and all but in the end they're not real so stop being drama queens and calling two fictional characters "toxic" 🤣🤣 get yourselves a real problem instead of making one up
Breaking news: fiction is based on real-life dynamics! Even more breaking news: fiction can influence real-life dynamics! Romanticizing abuse and domestic violence is awful, especially on the part of Marvel, a franchise that is also followed by very young people who could get the wrong message. It could also cause someone who has suffered or suffers from abusive situations to suffer even more seeing that someone suddenly decided that hurting the person you "love" is romantic.
My life isn't all about Tumblr, as I said I have my problems outside of social media, so if I express an opinion I don't think it's an issue. I'm just expressing my thoughts, did it suddenly become forbidden?
Do I like, need your permission or smt to alter and post a text I wrote? What did I miss?? 🤨🤨
Nah, that was just a fun remark I made, of course, you don't need my permission. I just found it funny how you both commented and reblogged, giving me free notes and visibility. Good for me I guess.
And the double standard is where, exactly?
Double standards exist because Marvel already has problems with writing female characters. Since they don't know how to make a decent strong female character anymore (aside from a few exceptions like Peggy Carter and Jane Foster), Marvel just thinks belittling the male counterpart's trauma and actions is enough to show how strong and smart the female counterpart is. And with Sylvie, they brought this to exaggeration, because not only she belittles Loki's trauma and treats him like shit, but keeps trying to hurt him and even attempted his murder several times. But since she's a woman Marvel thinks is okay, and a lot of people think that too.
But imagine if it was Loki to belittle her, insult her, attack her, and hurt her in any way. Y'all would be screaming and yelling at Marvel because "Oh em gee, they romanticized abuse, omg!1!!!" since he's a man. Domestic violence against men is rare, but it exists too, but apparently, it is considered "girlboss" and "cool" for a woman to hurt a man.
I keep maintaining it's all freaking fiction and that it doesn't work like resl life, you really should stop reading so much into it, it's not healthy pal 👍🏻
What I do with my blog and my life is none of your business.
In conclusion: I said what I had to, and I no longer intended to keep entertain this conversation with you.

Pt 2:
(Okay I'm sorry this length is actually a bit absurd. As you can see my mind is SPINNING and this may have gotten. Out of hand. Please do feel free to ignore me, I promise I won't take it personally 😆😆)
So here’s the thing. In Loki and Sylvie’s first full episode together, I read the nexus event as being Loki experiencing self-love for once in his existence. Until events unfolded and I sighed and resigned myself to the inevitable heterosexuality of fit all. But.
Consider it from Loki’s perspective. You find yourself caring for this person who is and isn’t yourself. And it’s nice, at the end of all things, to care. Then the most emotionally intelligent man you know is insisting you’ve fallen in love with her. And gosh golly gee that is NOT what you thought was going on there, but you’re new to this whole letting yourself care schtick—how would you know?
Then, a miracle—against all the odds in the universe, Mobius decides to trust you after all. To fight by your side.
And within seconds, it gets him killed.
It feels like everything is over, and you don’t understand why. But it isn’t. The world is still falling apart, and Sylvie is still trapped, and whatever the way in which you care for her, you do care. And Mobius—he is dead. And nearly the last thing he said to you was that he thinks the love between you and Sylvie could save the universe. So what else can you do? You have to try. For both of them.
So you go to Sylvie, and it’s hard to get the words out, and it doesn’t feel quite right, but you try to tell her—
Your maybe universe-saving hopefully-actually-true love confession is cut off, and things get a bit wonky after that. And in the meantime there is another miracle—Mobius is alive after all.
But the universe still isn’t saved. And Mobius isn’t dead, but you thought he was, and you’ve been so viscerally reminded that to love is to lose. And anyway—before his seeming death the last thing Mobius said was that if he could go anywhere, it would be to his own life. Those scant moments when it seemed you might move forward side by side were illusion indeed. Mobius has a life of his own, in which you have no part.
So you turn to this other self, and say, ‘will you stay will me, after?’
She isn’t you. But perhaps she’s near enough to stay. No one else will.
Then you have the Sylkie kiss, which frankly imo barely counts as evidence on its own. When Sylvie finds out about Mobius’ nexus event theory she immediately goes to Loki to say ‘yeahhhhhhh so lets not do that bud … hey did you notice how much Mobius cares about you? 😃” Lok got a little confused, but Sylvie doesn’t seem, to me, to ever have thought her feelings for Loki were romantic. And when she kisses him, it’s a betrayal. Giving him what he seems to want as a distraction for the sake of her own ends.
And so he can’t trust her, and she won’t trust him, and there is no safety in running to himself to avert his loneliness. And he kissed her, and the universe isn’t saved.
And the lonely god runs straight on back to Mobius. And he might have still been sorting his head out a bit in the first two eps of s2, yet. He never leaves Mobius’ side again. Not until it is only way to save him. Not until he has spent centuries searching desperately for a way to stay by his side.
Wouldn't dream of ignoring you, absolutely love hearing the thought process people go through while watching or rewatching the show (starting another rewatch of my own soon!) and found myself noticing many of the same things you've mentioned especially regarding Sylvie as a representation of Loki coming to terms with self love for the first time which then led to the actualization of forming the kind of emotional connection and openness with Mobius that romantic love can build on.
Will reply to both parts of your ask here (linking part 1 just in case anyone hasn't seen it) and absolutely believe you're right in that while Loki would've always had potential escape from the methods and mistrust of the TVA in the back of his mind, he was very rapidly starting to separate Mobius from being part of the collective because there were too many genuine moments building between them to ever be in line with what the TVA would normally allow.
(adding a read more bc, well, it's me so we know this is getting long)
The shot in Roxxcart that lingers on Loki watching Mobius walk away after their discussion of trust always stuck with me because at that point I was under the assumption Loki was grappling with awareness the mission could be an opportunity of escape and for the first time didn't actually *want* to leave but had no idea how to process the feelings that had developed from being in a partnership of mutual respect and further taken a hit with the reminder that Mobius is still a major part of the TVA, and no one at the TVA will ever fully trust him.
Funnily enough even though it's kind of a running joke that Mobius had fallen for Loki before they even met (and he absolutely had 😅), the fact that it really was something more always came across as almost subconscious for him?? Loki knew what they had but panicked, never having experienced anything of that level before and not knowing what to do with any of it while Mobius has repressed his feelings about, well, everything for so long just to cope with life at the TVA it's hard for him to picture anything outside their rule.
I never saw Loki taking off after Sylvie as anything more than the chance to escape what could, or in his mind at that moment couldn't, grow with Mobius while taking a perfect opportunity to explore curiosity on his part as to who this is, whether she's useful, and how she connects to being a Loki and from that point on we continue to see in his interactions with Sylvie they mirror each other at various stages of life.
If anything his clear hesitation at leaving Mobius definitely made the betrayal sting that much more, which is why Mobius lashed out so openly during the next interrogation without even bothering to hide his hurt and I've always thought the moment where Mobius calls him out for being a bad friend in front of the guards is when it actually clicks with Loki that he may have ruined something big, something important between them if Mobius is willing to not just admit to them having a real connection in front of people who would almost certainly report something like that but consider him a friend to have trust in for the time in his life. So he risks it all trying to convince Mobius to trust him one more time and thinks he failed like usual, only to have Mobius come back with faith in who he can be, faith Loki doesn't feel he deserves but gladly takes which leads directly to Mobius getting pruned trying to protect him.
And I love how you phrased this section because exactly, Loki is so completely lost and torn apart in a way like never before after watching Mobius die. Sylvie is the only anchor to anything left, and Mobius had just (misguidedly, but still lol) told him the two of them could make a difference so that's exactly what Loki tries to do but every time he attempts to involve some level of emotion like the possible confession before also getting pruned or discussing their nexus event it's immediately cut off and for good reason; because that's not who those feelings are meant for. It's important to note as well that when Sylvie tells Loki how much Mobius cares about him, it isn't brushed aside or joked about but instead allowed to land and breathe in that moment because they know how true it is, but also that Loki isn't ready to face that yet.
Then at the citadel (and didn't s2 go a long way toward erasing pretty much all the implications meant here besides the fact that they'll never see eye to eye 😂) Loki and Sylvie immediately clash, with both of them openly wondering why they can't trust each other. Loki's frustration is clear because if he had been talking to Mobius instead they could take some time so things wouldn't have reached this point but he isn't, so he and Sylvie come to blows.
In my opinion Sylvie had never seen Loki in a romantic light either or even wanted to consider the possibility, but she did notice his constant struggle to reconcile feelings that did exist for Mobius and took advantage as a distraction and mirror to the Roxxcart grocery store divorce which leaves Loki confused and alone, processing what's just happened as he realizes despite everything his trust in Mobius has never wavered and never will. He races towards him only to finally know what it does feel like to look into his eyes and find that trust fully missing, so once he gets his Mobius back he spends almost every moment of s2 as close to his side as possible until he's forced to give him up, but as you said not until he's exhausted centuries seeking a way to stay. It's clear both of their endings are to be left wanting and waiting which is the most tragic way to have Lokius confirmed but we can only hope sooner rather than later they have a chance to work their way back to each other 🥰

I've seen a lot of sylki worried and I myself I made this mistake to think that. And now I sincerely don't think. Let me tell you why.
They had to go through the same kind of battle all over again to relive the same situations. It was necessary for later and for them.
Loki is very distant from her because Sylvie closed this hope of a us as soon as he found her. She has shown/said everything for that. She pushed him away. He also realizes that she's happy/okay. It was what he wanted, right? So he finally believed her. Why would she lie? He trusts her.
Sylvie told him the first time he saw her that he was the last person she wanted to see. So Loki has this idea that she doesn't want anything with him finally. Maybe he even thinks he imagined too much that this kiss was something between them. He came to believe that maybe the kiss was just a trick, and nothing for her. He thinks she doesn't want to be with him after all. Not of together. Her behavior gives this feeling.
He thinks he's doing her more harm than good, that he's only making her suffer. He thinks she doesn't want anything more to do with him. She adds even more to this by saying,
Tumblr media
"to ruin my life," so he thinks even more she doesn't want to be with him. Doesn't feel anything for him. That she wants to be left alone in her timeline. He won’t force her. Then he accepts it. For him, sharing what he's feeling now doesn't matter, what's the point? Whatever what he feels for her, it seems useless for him. Why he answers,
Tumblr media Tumblr media
//
Sylvie is on her timeline for months, and doesn’t understand why he only comes now. Why he didn’t come early for her? Because she doesn’t know all the truth like Loki doesn’t too. Sylvie doesn't understand why he's so stubborn about TVA, because she doesn't know how serious this is. She doesn't believe it. And at the same time, part of her doesn't want to accept it. She thinks that she's not his priority finally, that she doesn't mean that much to him because his absence for months. It hurts her. Why, she said,
Tumblr media
Because she herself thinks Loki doesn't care about her, that he doesn't have that many feelings for her after all. That when he told her he wasn't going to let her down, it was a lie too. That that kiss didn't mean that much to him after all. The same confusion as him.
Once again, the cause is the fact that they never talked about what happened between them since the kiss/the citadel.
It's like a mirror effect. Loki believes that she does not feel anything and does not want to be with him and Sylvie thinks the same. The silence, misunderstanding both created this.
To get back to killing this Kang variant or not. This time, Loki can’t accept making that mistake again, knowing that she already blames herself enough for Kang. She even said she didn't want to kill him. Loki replied, "Then don't."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She remains closed, and still drowning her anger, Loki tries as best he can to make her understand that if she kills this Kang variant it's her whole "house" too that she's going to lose too.
Tumblr media
//
Then she talks about the book, she thinks he's the one who gave it to this variant and taking it away what's going on with the TVA. She's angry at him for this too, but he admits to her that it's not the case, so she starts to change.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's one of the things that's been misunderstood between them from the start that's created this situation. The fact that they don't talk to each other at all, creates this situation. The lack of communication creates discomfort and unspoken words. Talk, share is important between them.
//
Tumblr media
He has this very cold, distant attitude because he feels rejected. He's just as hurt. He thinks she hates him, that she resents him forever. Once again, there's this "situation" of him wanting to save this variant and her not understanding him. That's what keeps them apart. But this time it won't be. Sylvie will understand that it was important not to kill him. That's why she doesn't kill him, and finally decides to try and trust Loki.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He leaves frustrated, but most of all hurt. This situation really breaks him down, as much as it does her.
Tumblr media
It's only by talking to each other that they'll be able to put things right. That they'll bring unspoken things and misunderstandings out into the open. I repeat, it's the fact that they haven't been able to talk to each other that has left them in this cold, tense situation.
And I find that having done it gives something strong and unique between them. These are two people who do not know what a real relationship is. Sylvie has never had normal life, she knows nothing about all of this so she is very confused. And Loki, despite telling her that he wanted her to go well, he is also lost because it is new to him. He doesn't know how to do it. They are afraid of giving what they feel, sharing your feelings to someone is always given a fragile piece of you to a person. And you are afraid of what we will do afterwards. It takes times.
In the next episode he'll come back to McDonalds one night, and there'll be a discussion at the bar. So they're going to find each other again, it's again a hard road they have to go through to end up better together.

Hello Bird! I've been following your content pretty much since I entered the Loki/Marvel fandom like 2 years ago. (you're literally the only author I trust when it comes to regular Loki content, I'm forever thankful for what you do).
I'm in the process of publishing a few things myself and I was wondering if you could give baby ao3 authors like me a tip or two on how to keep consistency when arranging a plot for a story.
I love your style and how you manage to lay out scenarios so perfectly with just a few key details about each character, I can literally picture things in my head like they're coming out of a movie. It's everything I've imagined and more istg
On another note, I have a prompt/suggestion you might like, tell me what you think:
Heatwave vs. Jotunn genetics
In line with works like Another Girl Another Planet or Scratch My Back, Jotunn Loki makes a comeback with a tinge of enemies to lovers. However in this case, Jotunn genetics force Loki's body to switch into his Jotunn form sporadically and without warning whenever he's feeling extra hot 👀. Mood swings, Heat irritability, and a lot of bickering (We're about to hit heatwave season here in Spain and it's a most fitting scenario for these upcoming months hehe)
I love your work and I'm so grateful to be a part of your community of avid readers!! 💚💚💚
Tumblr media
First of all, thank you so much for reading my work. I'm very glad you've enjoyed it.
Wow, that is a neat idea! I don't think I've seen that particular take on Jotunn biology. I think you should definitely run with it and see where it goes. I'd be curious to read it when it's done.
As far as advice goes, mostly what I'm doing when I write fics is trying to align myself as close to "sounding" like the person I'm writing as possible. That comes from having watched Loki in the films and my short stint with his show and trying to emulate his beliefs, mannerisms, and speech patterns. It takes time and practice, but that's really how I do it. If I am struggling to get him to sound right, I take a break and bring up a clip where he's talking and then it usually gets me back on track. I do that with Bucky too.
During the story itself, I take it scene by scene and think "okay, here's a scenario, now how would he react to it?" and then I go from there. Naturally, it's fanfiction and so I can play around with what he'd do since we don't really have a full understanding of how he reacts to his romantic companions (I do not accept Sylki at all and I think it was written horribly, so I don't use it as an example) and we as readers are able to suspend our disbelief enough to enjoy some romance and smut. If you feel him doing something inauthentic, it just means that you're trying too hard to move the scenario or the plot forward, and that's fine. You just recalibrate and figure out which part of what you're writing might be slightly off and then adjust.
My inbox and chat are open, so don't hesitate to reach out whenever you like. We can spitball ideas or just chit-chat, and that is an open invitation to anyone.
Birdie loves you!

Loki's evolution (from bad to good)
Just thinking about the fact how Loki went from an antagonist and morally bad person in Thor to a genuinely good person in the series. His character growth in the series is always so special to me, seeing him shed all his villianous qualities and flaws, his selfishness and his total disregard to other people's safety and genuinely growing into a person who cares about lives lost and the damage and suffering caused to normal people.
In the movies, Loki always had a total disregard for innocent lives and was always willing to sacrifice a few people if it helped him or benefitted him. For him, other people and their lives were expendable and he was not scared to throw people into danger if it helped him get what he wanted. Sure, he didn't go around wanting to kill for fun but he was more than willing to push a few to their deaths for his own advantage.
In Thor, he unleashed frost giants in the weapons vault, without caring about the guards who died, unleashed the destroyer on Earth again without caring if humans got hurt and then tried to commit genocide. In Avengers, he unleashed a whole army of chitauri on New York and happily pulled out eyeballs. In TDW, he helped the Kurse even tho he knew people will be killed. In Ragnarok, he preferred staying in Sakaar than save the Asgardians from Hela n was willing to capture Thor for his benefit.
But in the series, we see Loki show real regard to innocent lives. He was ashamed of the deaths he caused in Avengers and admitted he didn't enjoy killing people. He was concerned about the people of Lamentis being left behind and only the wealthy getting in the ark. He was worried over the old woman who chose to stay behind, and was worried over the lies told to the TVA workers. Sure, he isn't a total hero who goes and rescues people but he shows empathy and regard to innocent lives put in danger rather than how he rarely cared in the movies. Then in episode 6, his only driving force when he's stopping Sylvie from killing HWR is that they might unleash something much worse. For a guy who was willing to burn everything for his own needs, it was heartwarming to see him care about the universe being in balance and wanting to take the right decision.
Another thing I love is how he showed remorse and guilt over his mistakes. In TDW, Loki doesn't feel any remorse or guilt for the lives lost on Earth. He goes on justifying his actions to both Frigga and Odin, thinking he was justified in his attack. Instead he kept pushing the blame on others or denying any responsibility by trying to use Odin's past as a shield. Its only when his mother died did he start to change.
In the series however, Loki is shown to be ashamed when Mobius shows him a recording of new york. He looks away in shame, he is sad when Mobius tells him he is born to cause pain and suffering. He's ashamed when Miss Minutes and HWR bring up the battle of New York. He even accepts to Mobius he doesn't like killing people.
He shows so much growth and development from the first episode itself but it's not until he meets Sylvie that he really starts to grow. The thing that makes Sylvie so great and inspiring for him is that she isn't bound by the same flaws and shortcomings like him. She isn't looking for power or validation, she is fighting against a fascist organisation and is trying to give people free will. She shows Loki he can be more than what the world thinks he can be and her presence inspires him to be better.
That's not to say that Sylvie doesn't have flaws of her own. She also has their issues, trauma and flaws to work through and funnily it's Loki who can reach out to her and help her out. That's what I love about sylki that they are perfectly balanced and compliment each other.
But the biggest growth imo is how loki addressed women. He really went from threatening assault on Jane and calling Natasha a mewling quim to addressing Ravonna as madam 🤣🤣🤣

Shuffle your on repeat playlist and list the first 10 songs that play, then tag 10 people.
I was tagged by @bisexual-panic thank you! It's nice to show how weird this playlist is
1.- The Pot and the Kettle by The Rumjacks. Irish Punk is always a must, especially if it has good rhymes and sounds like a shanty.
2.- Black horse and a cherry tree by KT Tunstall. What a classic, love everything about this song, specially the fact I don't wanna get married despite my mom wanting me to marry a rich country man thats spends the weekends drunk, and I feel validated by this song lol
3.- Un Año by Sebastián Yatra y Reik. This song is here because I listened to it in a loop while I was writing Heirs of Jotunheim. If anyone read it and then listens to the song, it'll make sense.
4.- Fury Oh Fury by Nico Vega. What to say about this song except its exactly how I feel when I'm furious lol I also used this song on another Sylki fic.
5.- LVGVS by Eluveitie. I fell in love with this song at first hearing? It really makes me feel the fresh breeze of the mountains in my bones and the earth turning under my feet.
6.- Lempo by Korpiklaani. Do I know what this song is about? No. Will I even look upon it's meaning? Maybe, but not today, I'll keep loving it. Don't let the death gripping scream at the beginning deceive you, its a good song.
7.- Yendo a la casa de Damián by El Cuarteto de Nos. This is such a GREAT song. Even if you don't speak Spanish it's a blast to listen to.
8.- Hambre by Gepe and Wendy Sulca. Finally a Chilean on the list lol. Gepe is a good Chilean pop singer, and this song is ever so special! Its a traditional beat from the altiplanic regions with a pop adjustment, Wendy Sulca adds her special voice as the Peruvian representative and the music video was recorded in Bolivia. Never a song has seen a Chilean-Peruvian-Bolivian collaboration like this before. Lots of love 💕
9.- Summer Wine by Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazelwood. I've been in love with this song since I discovered it in the movie Los renglones torcidos de Dios (2022). The lyrics are a great oldie and the music is so lovely.
10.- Roulette by SOAD. This song, THIS SONG, was the one listening on loop while writing the Sylki fic "When I'm around you", it's such a passionate song, lovely and bittersweet, a heavy metal ballad that will surely give you the feels.
I had so much fun doing this! Now for tagging people @inexpressiblybeautiful @sylvies-kablooie @pennie-dreadful @agentjackdaniels and anyone who wants to jump in I guess.
