Tamagotchi P1 Core Available for Analogue Pocket & MiSTer FPGA Thanks to GitHub Project
If youâve got an Analogue Pocket or a MiSTer FPGA (field programmable gate array), and you love Tamagotchi, then youâre in for a treat. These are multiple video-game-system portable handle devices that allow customized programming.
Adam Gastineau, agg23 on GitHub has published a project that theyâve been working on for three months. The project takes the Tamagotchi P1 ROM and transports it onto the Analogue Pocket & MiSTer FPGA platforms. However this isnât just your regular P1, thereâs some special treats! There is savestates/sleep & wake feature, instant resume at core launch, turbo play up to 1,800x (which is ~30 minutes a second), and the ability to set custom backgrounds (love that!). Adam notes that building the core was way more fun than making it run on different platforms.
There are plenty instructions and documents posted for you to review and download. Available on GitHub to download. Enjoy!

âïžShipping Our Castð
Today we bring you a small treat!
Behold, a behind-the-scenes look at a topic sure to interest and entice: how did the FujoGuide team come up with such a shippable cast of characters?
If you're just joining us now and need to catch up on what #FujoGuide is all about, read our pitch (and back our project) at our Kickstarter page. (TL;DR: weâre making web development more accessible to fandom communities.)
As with most things in our Kickstarter, our character creation was a collaborative effort. We wanted our cast to embody tropes beloved by shippers, but also to prove to existing developers we know what we're talking about!
This was not an easy task. So, how did we accomplish it?
Follow the cut to find out!
At first, we didn't know which characters we needed! When our project lead @essential-randomness wrote the initial pitch, she jotted down a couple examples of how the characters MIGHT behave.
Why these characters? Well, she loves TypeScript, and Git wrote itself.
Character creation was a collective process and TV Tropes, our best friend. Which characters did the team like? What tropes did they embody? What were genre must-haves? What made them undeniably hot?
We watched classics like Ouran or Fruits Basket to get ready! Hetalia, even!
During this process, we got to teaching! Our lead @essential-randomness held some learning sessions for collaborators explaining modern web development technologies and their relationships.
You can see the resulting diagram here.
While we researched, we discussed possible topics and created more characters. We even have some yet-to-be-released work-in-progress hotties who unfortunately didn't make it into our first guide: [REDACTED] and [TOP SECRET], courtesy of @cmdonovann.
Eventually, we landed on Git(Hub) as a topic: widely applicable, complex enough, and yet self containedâthe perfect test for our educational prowess!
And (we'll admit it) the words "tentacle catboy" were all the team needed to get really sold on the vision.
Documents were made and filled with technical details, references, and character tidbits we brainstormed together. Character designers worked closely with the rest of the team to tastefully include technical references, such as Git's branches, Terminal's cowsay, and CSS' owl.
Want to know more about these âmasters at workâ? Go follow them! @brokemycrown (Git & GitHub), @mappapapa (Terminal), @ymkse (HTML & CSS), and @sgt-spank (ARIA).
Throughout this process, our team wanted to balance creating just enough canon for people to latch on, while having "blank slates" characters open to wide reinterpretation.
Most of us come from transformative fandom, so what is canon if not just a sandbox for us all to play in?
But then how DO we make a cast of characters that people will love to ship while leaving the door open to interpretation? @playerprophet answered our cry for help with their amazing cast creation tool!
You can get it here on their Patreon!
Shoutout to all the amazing creators involved in developing our characters:
@enigmalea @elendraug @mizunotic @a-brilliant-loser @tempural (and more not on this platform!)
This concludes our tale of breathing life into our characters. We hope people will come to love them as much as we do. The response to them already has blown us out of the water!
Check out all their character cards (and back us!) on Kickstarter.
Questions? Comments? Our team is always here for them ð

In November of last year, a new NVDA plug-in became available on Git Hub, and it's a fantastic example of the good AI can do.
The plug-in, AI-content-describer, uses the GPT-4 large language model to generate descriptions for images, buttons, and more. It's a fantastic add-on to NVDA's built in OCR capabilities.

Tagged! 9 People, Let's Go!
@madalyn-maeve tagged me (directly, by messaging me, because Tumblr was being a bitch) so I'm going to IMMEDIATELY do this.
Last Song Listened To:
"Let The Children Watch" by Tom Cardy (LOL I KNOW... I actually keep YouTube playing largely in the background when @tlbodine comes over for our biweekly coffee & chat, so the last ACTUAL song on the play history was "Hell is Forever" from Hazbin Hotel, but I fiddled around last night and Tom Cardy was the last thing I clicked on.) If you want the last non-hilarious song I listened to, it was "Footfalls" by Soken and the Primals. [Because of COURSE it was.]
Currently Watching:
"Seinfeld" is playing in the background as I type this because my ADHD can handle new books easy, but does Not Play Well with new shows/movies. (I have to be in the mindset to SIT and WATCH NEW.) Most of the time, I play the same few TV series in the background so I can glance up, watch for a few minutes, and then go back to what I'm doing.
Which means in rotation, it may be:
Seinfeld
The Simpsons
Hazbin Hotel
Helluva Boss
American Horror Story (Coven, Freak Show, Hotel are the most likely seasons to be watched, but I like Asylum and will rewatch Roanoke)
Forged in Fire
Mythbusters
Sweet/Savory/Spicy?:
I will take sweet over ANYTHING else. I am very much a hummingbird and prefer sweet flavors to anything except garlic. Savory is secondary, mainly in favor of sandwiches. And... no spicy. None. No. I am the Whitest of White Girls and just cannot even with spicy. I do not like to EAT PAIN for fun.
{I still get mocked by my husband and my roommate for fussing about "this ketchup is too spicy" after a lot of black pepper got mixed into it. IT WAS SPICY, DAMN IT.}
Relationship Status:
Well, I did say above that I have a husband, so kinda outed myself on that one, huh? :D My hubs is @scarssdoesrp (and yes his Tumblr is basically nonexistent, much to my eternal frustration, and yes, at a glance, it hilariously reads like 'Scarss Does ERP' which is just so gd funny.) We met ... lemme think... I want to say back in 2010 when my then-boyfriend got me playing Neverwinter Nights and I joined a server that Scarss was modding. We stayed in touch, off and on, throughout the years, and then I ran into him on NWN again after splitting with my ex.
He trundled over to GW2 and welp... Now we've been together nearly six years and married for two!
Current Obsession:
HAH. Books. Books, books, books, books, always books. Always books.
...yes, FFXIV, I'm logged in almost every day, I GPose during my work hours *cough* I GPOSE A LOT, and I genuinely enjoy the gameplay so I have fun trying to Git Gud.
(But also books, seriously, like I LOVE books, if you want to talk about books, let's talk about books.)
Tagging:
I know this has been going around for a while, so I'm going to tag people from my notifications that I'm not familiar with! LET'S GET TO KNOW SOME FOLKS!
@im-thinking-arson (Love that name btw LOL) and @wingedflame and @swishysword annnnnnnd @ithaerielbrenagh and @hazoret
@arinaxiv annnnnnnnd... @lizzy-calaxio and... @zeloinator and... @thefrostflower
(Let's try fixing the tags YET AGAIN...)

[Across the Spider-Verse Portal]
I just wanted to do for fun so I probably wont be expanding on this too much
Since it is using Unity Version 2019, as well as the Vanilla Unity Render pipeline,
It SHOULD be compatible with VRChat? IDK
