I was bored so I combined the progressive pride flag with the Gilbert Bakers 9 stripe flag as they are my two favorite flags.
[image description: An edit of the progressive pride flag and Gilbert Bakers 9 striped flag. the nine stripes in order are lavender, pink, red, orange, yellow, green, turquoise, indigo, and purple. then the triangle section from the progressive pride is edited on top of it with white, pink, blue, brown, and black stripes in the shape of a triangle. end id.]

So I literally woke up and came downstairs to make this set of patches. @urbanprole is in the middle of like 3 other projects so these will get test-stitched and photographed when she has a hot minute, but like.
They're about 3" x 3" so you can stack up flags on your arm, backpack, w/e.
(The colors look a little wonky bc it's just a mockup for the embroidery machine, and the way it displays colors has only a passing resemblance to how those colors will look stitched out.)

“China produces more rainbow flags than anyone. My nightmare is there is a factory with nearly slave labor, forced to live within the factory complex and get up every morning and have to churn out more and more rainbow tchotchkes.” He says he didn’t create the rainbow flag in order for others to profit off of “rainbow junk”.
He is horrified by some of the things he has seen. He says, “Walking down Castro Street, I can’t pay my rent, but I see rainbow dildos in the shop windows and rainbow keychains, rainbow rings, rainbow candles and so on.” He said it is similar to when the best music ends up as elevator music. He is gratified that the power of the rainbow caught on as rings, but that power can be diluted by over-commercialization.”

Happy birthday to Gilbert Baker, one of the designers behind the rainbow flag! Gilbert was born on 2 June, 1951, and created the flag along with fellow artist Lynn Segerblom and others in 1978. It was flown at San Francisco Pride in June that year.

Happy late pride 🩷❤️🧡💛💚🩵💙💜
I unfortunately did not finish in time for pride month, I spent 3 weeks working on this
It's probably my biggest cross stitch project so far, and my first time working on black aida, and I really like it 🫶
Although... I made some mistakes and my first attempt at framing something in the hoop didn't go too well
Pattern is my own =]

Happy birthday, Gilbert Baker! (June 2, 1951)
An artist an activist originally hailing from Kansas, Gilbert Baker came to San Francisco as a result of his military career, at a time when the gay rights movement was in its inception. Openly gay, Baker learned to sew and created banners and flags for the vibrant protest scene in the Bay Area. Baker’s most famous creation was the rainbow flag, which has become a global symbol of gay pride. Baker refused to copyright the flag, gifting it to the LGBT community at large. He continued his activism and artistic works until his death in 2017.

So I made Pride versions of the flags of the 13 Historic Counties of Wales:
This is the map of Wales with each county flag edited with pride colours! The palette I used was the final Gilbert Baker pride flag which he created before he died. Just for fun and these are free to use with credit.
(Note: several flags are proposed flags, since some counties have not registered official flags yet)
Column 1: Glamorganshire, Cardiganshire, Merionethshire, Montgomeryshire
Column 2: Monmouthshire, Caernarfonshire, Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire, Radnorshire
Column 3: Ynys Môn, Flintshire, Brecknockshire, Denbighshire
