i like tht they put sinclair in the vita chamber meeting before bio2 so now its like gil just brought him along to get his door salesman swag on for suchong bc hes too awkward to talk to him alone
This might be one of the most random Bioshock thoughts I've had (and that's saying a lot) but am I the only one that REALLY hopes the next Bioshock song JT Music makes is about Alex the Great? Holy mother of FUCK do I hope that so bad XD
I always thought the debate on whether to spare or execute Gil Alexander/Alex the Great in Bioshock 2 was interesting to philosophically analyze.
For those not in the know, the villain of the game, Sophia Lamb, tried to splice (genetically mutate) Gilbert Alexander, a scientist enamored and loyal to her, to be a kind of genetic composite of all the minds in Rapture. Basically, a biological supercomputer with fantastical powers, devoted to the "common good" as Sophia sees it.
Instead, though, the experiment failed and Gil just slowly went insane, eventually mutating into a horrific creature with psychic powers living in a tank for ocean specimens. "Alex the Great", as he's known post-mutation, is a madman who torments the splicers inhabiting Fontaine Futuristics for no particular reason.
The trick is, Gil Alexander left recordings behind to assist anyone trying to kill him, and in fact begs for a Mercy Kill. However, when you corner Alex the Great, the creature Gil Alexander became, he instead begs to be spared.
I've seen people say they went ahead and executed Alex the Great because Gil Alexander asked to be killed, but personally I kinda see that as looking at things the wrong way. The person Gil Alexander used to be is already dead in every way that matters, and the individual he became no longer wants to die and is no longer a threat by the time you have the choice to kill him or not.
