— Dylan feels the day dragging into the late night. Time wasn't a thing anymore, only daylight and dark skies. Everyone trickled in when the sky faded from it's dull blue to a warm orange and she's been stuck here since then. By now, there was only a handful of people still left lingering around the bar, drowning in their own silence and self sorrow or a couple people dancing around to whatever music they still had stowed away. It was something blues-y and boring; modern day torture, in her mind. She heaves a long sigh and tucks the worn towel into the pocket of her jeans and squeezes the metal bottle opener in her grip, like a weapon at the ready. "Four more hours," She drones to herself, eyes dragging along the interior of the bar and spotting someone a few feet away, rather empty-handed, she approaches lazily, "Are you going to stare all night or order something?"

It always bemuses me just how quickly people and stores pull down their rainbow flags as soon as Pride month is over. I thought things would be a little different in New York -- and they are, to an extent -- but I stopped by my favourite bakery on the way home yesterday to find that they had already taken their flags down. Can you believe that? Though, I have to admit, I still bought a cronut from them. They are truly my kryptonite.

plot: eden is at a fundraising event for her business and the work she does to reduce food waste, accidentally dances with a mafia boss who is there for good appearance, and is oblivious to who they are. open to m 26+.

she'd dressed up for the event, wanted to look her best and if there was a chance she won an award or got any sponsors to keep doing what she did, she wanted to at least look her best in the photos. she wasn't wrong to dress up either, people here had money and clearly, money to waste. the thing was, eden didn't need money to be the prettiest woman in that hall. she was a raven haired beauty, a sweetheart in red, very different to her usual every day self. she was a bakery owner, she normally wore a flour dusted apron and her short dark waves pulled into some form of hair tie... but tonight she looked divine. the red satin of her dress shining with each step.

she wanted to dance, she truly did, people had formed a nice little circle and she'd spent the night talking about her charitable ventures to feed hungry mouths with what would be otherwise wasted, talked about how she made discreet brown bags filled with baked goods and essentials that anyone in need could pick up free of any charge, how she'd do a weekly soup night and the bread used with the soup was only what would've been wasted. in a modern day world she'd never understand why anyone went hungry.

she'd stood watching the people dancing as the song took a slower turn and she just wasn't brave enough to go out there and sway alone, but that's when she heard someone address her and that longing look turned to a sweetheart smile. someone wanted to dance with her? with her? she thought she was invisible most of the time but god, she was not tonight. "i— i can't really dance i'm not..." she stammered a little nervously, looking from the man out to the dance floor and her hand nervously edged from herself, to take the one offered. "are you sure? okay. yeah, yes, i'll dance with you, i'll try my best! i've never really slow danced with anyone before. i'm eden, by the way, i own a bakery in town, you might know it? bread, bakes and books?"

I've been pretty busy lately with work and don't get me wrong, I love my job! Working with Miley Cyrus as director on her new music video ''Flowers'' for her next album (Endless Summer Vacation). It has been a great opportunity to explore that creative side of mine for such a great artist and a unique experience. The problem is that I can't seem to keep up with baby Nash (my dog), who always seems to have energy! I feel a little… guilty? For not being able to play with him like before, but I don't know what to do. How do you find a balance between your personal life and work?
