(a scene I wrote between Mischa and MC Karnak, based off an earlier post)
Mischa was on his way home from work. It was late, even by his standards, and he knew that he was gonna get chewed out by his so-called parents if they were still up. It didn't matter if he was late because of his job; curfew was curfew. Well, actually his dad would chew him out. His mom never spoke a word to him. He cringed at even thinking of them with such familial terms. They were Sir and Ma'am. They were the main reason he wished his mother had never sent him to this country.
He was planning to go home, get high, then go to bed. It had been a bad day for a multitude of reasons, and he just wanted to forget about everything for a little bit. Every bone in his body ached, he was exhausted. He was so tired, he almost didn't catch the person hobbling down the sidewalk next to him. No one should be out this late in Uranium. He knew exactly who it was, too; only two people would wear an outfit so confusingly eye-catching. The first was Ricky who wouldn't be caught dead walking these streets so late at night. The second was--
"Karnak!" Mischa shouted out the rolled down window. The man came closer, leaning into the car with a wide grin. The teen recognized that look in his eyes. "Get your drunk ass in this car."
Karnak didn't protest or hesitate. The way he was shivering, he had probably been out wandering for a while. Mischa cranked up the heat.
"The hell are you doing outside this late?"
"Mmm, went to a party." He fumbled with the seatbelt before it finally clicked. "Thanks for the ride. I got a little lost..."
"Yeah, you're place is clear across town. What the hell are you wearing?"
Karnak didn't respond, he just stared at Mischa expectantly. Right, that stupid game. A question for a question. Mischa sighed.
"Fine, what is your question?"
"Why are YOU out so late?"
"Had work. Double shift "
The man hummed and blinked slowly. "This is the shirt Savannah gave me. It's my favorite." It was a garish button down with clashing patterns and colors. It was tacky as hell and definitely up his weird ass alley. "Was today... okay?"
The words were slurred, muddled, but Mischa heard clearly. His grip tightened on the steering wheel. "Why wouldn't it be?"
It wasn't an answer, but Karnak accepted it anyway. He didn't need to speak it aloud, but he couldn't hold himself back. "It's the anniversary..."
"... I haven't talked to... any of them," Mischa admitted. Any tears that might have formed, he blinked away. He had to drive. "I think they all want to be with family. You are first person I have seen today."
"And I'm a mess." Karnak didn't meet Mischa's eyes when the boy glanced at him. There was a double meaning there that neither wanted to address. "...I left early and went walking. I didn't want to be seen."
"We have that in common," Mischa tried to smile even though he didn't feel happy. Karnak closed his eyes and patted the teen on the shoulder the way he wished his adoptive father would.
"You're a good kid, Mischa. Sorry you have to... see me... like this."
"Don't mind. You get me home drunk many times."
"But you're a kid," Karnak protested weakly, "and I'm an... adult..." Now Mischa was worried the man was falling asleep. "A good kid. I'm sorry you... 'm so sorry... Virgil..."
And then the car was filled with light snores. Mischa just hoped he'd wake up when they got to their destination; he didn't feel like carrying or dragging a grown man inside. He wiped a few stray tears away. This day was hard for them all, surely. Maybe next year, they wouldn't have to spend it alone.

You Saved My Life
Marvel - Captain America Imagine
Steve Rogers x Female Reader, 1.7k Words
Tumblr media
-You Saved My Life-
Imagine you save Captain America's life while he is trying to save yours.
A/N: I dunno when this would take place in the Marvel world. I guess you could say it's my own AU. It's a long one but I like it. I hope you do too.
----
There are a lot of things life prepares you for, but the end of the world is not one of them.
You were covering your best friend's shift at a cafe that she owned. You had a full time job as a teacher, but the school was on a holiday, and you were always willing to help your friend. Normally, she'd have managers do the day to day runnings, but there was a scheduling conflict that lined up perfectly with your free day.
You did love the little place. It was small and home-y, nestled between some larger buildings of the city.
It was after the lunch rush when it happened. You were wiping down menus when a large blast that felt like an earthquake rattled the whole shop. The glass door shattered with the impact.
That's when the screaming started. It was loud and chaotic, as throngs of people ran away from whatever had just exploded.
The customers that were in the cafe rushed out in a panic. They could see something out of the large windows that you couldn't from behind the counter.
You moved closer, hesitantly, not sure what to expect, and you were definitely not prepared.
There were large, robotic creatures wreaking havoc in every direction. You could hear their banshee like screeches that echoed in your ears, but it couldn't be louder than the intense blood rushing as your adrenaline began to flow.
Your protective, teacher instincts kicked in when you saw the young group of kids huddled in the alleyway. They were almost out of view, but you noticed. You always noticed the children. They attracted your energy naturally.
You took notice of the daycare bus still running. It looked like the driver had just abandoned them. Intense anger only fueled the instincts.
You saw the way one of the creatures eyed the group and you scrambled to grab something to defend them.
You didn't have much. You decided on a chair, thankful for your nimble frame that was able to get outside unnoticed.
The kids caught sight of you immediately, but you held a shaky finger to your lips, telling them to be quiet.
You swung the chair with all your might, hitting the thing with a sickening crunch. It faltered for a moment, stumbling forward. You were left with pieces of broken wood, the splintered edges digging into your skin.
"Get inside," you yelled to the group, watching them scramble. At least the robot thing was focused on you, and you prayed that each little boy and each little girl made it home tonight.
You knew you were the only person standing between the cafe and the monster, and you wouldn't go with them to safety for risk of this thing following you into the shop.
Your heart thudded painfully in your chest as your eyes searched for any kind of defense. Instead, you found more creatures and no help.
This thing was ugly up close. It was metallic like a robot, but had blood red eyes, eyes that were staring right at you.
It opened it's mouth to screech into the sky, a snake like tongue curling out. It was cut off by a flash of color in the haze of dirt and debris, but you recognized it immediately. Captain America's shield.
The man himself appeared, standing tall and proud, but you could tell he was winded. You had never been so relieved, as you relaxed a bit, just wanting to melt into the ground with exhaustion.
Steve yanked out his shield, giving it an expert throw, destroying the other visible creatures.
His blue eyes stood out beneath his cowl.
"Ma'am," he nodded. "Are you hurt?" he asked.
"No," you whispered with a shake of your head, wiping your sweaty, bloody hands on your jeans. "But there's kids in there "
He nodded, repeating the information into his com device.
"We'll get them to safety, and you, too. This is no place you want to be. Every civilian has taken shelter in the metro underground. Do you know how to get there from here?"
"Yes, but it's like two blocks," you said. There was no way you could get the kids there without being noticed.
"I'll go with you then, but we need to move quickly. Let's go." He left no room for argument, so you entered the cafe to gather the huddled group.
Their fear struck you, wide eyes and silent sobs. There were probably twenty of them, all different ages. The youngest was probably about six.
"Captain America is going to get you guys somewhere safe," you told them, as reassuring as possible, even though you didn't feel that way.
You led the group as the captain guarded the back. The pace was quick, and eerily quiet. You imagined the tall man had warned the other Avengers to keep the area as clear as possible. You had caught a brief glimmer of Iron Man's metallic suit in the sky.
You had just ushered the kids down the stalled escalator and into safety when you heard a grunt of pain.
You turned to find six more of the robotic creatures surrounding Cap. You could tell he was wearing down as one of them pulled his arms back, rendering him powerless and unable to grab his shield. He kicked the things with all his might, but there were too many of them.
You didn't know what to do. You were exhausted and there was no way you could help. You couldn't even take out one by yourself with a chair.
It wasn't until one of the creatures pulled out a long dagger looking thing, already dripping with someone else's blood that you moved.
Your instincts didn't let you hesitate as you ran to tackle the thing, the knife in turn digging painfully in your upper shoulder, dangerously close to your neck.
You felt the cry leave your dry, cracked lips as you crumbled to the ground, squeezing your eyes shut.
You heard the creature snarl at you before you felt a jolt of hot pain in your ribs. It felt like a boot, but who knows.
Your vision doubled as you saw the metallic shield take out the group once more. You sagged in the rubble as the adrenaline left your body. It felt like buckets of blood were running from your shoulder down the curve of your breast, mixing with the pain in your ribs. You were certain death couldn't be much worse then this.
Steve couldn't believe you saved his life. He was foolish to let his guard down, but you were a distraction. You protected those kids with a fearlessness that reminded him of himself.
He heard over coms that Tony had found the source for these creatures and the fight was coming to a close. He wished he could have been there for his team, but the people came first, especially those kids.
He pressed a hand to your shoulder, cursing when he saw how much blood you were losing. He searched aimlessly for something to stop the blood.
"Your six, Captain," you manage to mutter throught the pain, not failing to notice the final of the robotic things sneaking up on the distracted man.
He kicked a stray car door effortlessly, squashing the creature against the brick building.
"We're going to get you help. You're going to be okay."
That was the last thing you heard before you passed out.
----
There was a pesky beeping that was disturbing your rest. You assumed it was your alarm, until the pain hit you full force, and you remembered the events that took place. Were you dead?
Your eyes opened, and you groaned at the harsh light, blinking rapidly to adjust. Your mouth felt like it was full of sand.
The sterile smell and blinding white walls immediately told you it was a hospital, but what stood out was the dozing man still dirty from battle. His blue suit stood out against the white.
His eyes opened when you stirred, and you noticed the blue eyes that you were beginning to like. His blonde hair was matted from the cowl, and he looked terribly uncomfortable in the small chair.
"How are you feeling?" he asked gently, his deep voice much softer than the commanding tone he used as captain.
You struggled to sit up. The pain in your shoulder not allowed you to use your hand as leverage, and your ribs didn't like the jostle.
"Don't do that," he said, lightly using his hand to keep you from moving. He pushed the button on the side that allowed the bed to lift without you having to change position.
He helped you drink some water before you were finally able to respond.
"How long have I been out?" you ask.
"Just a few hours," Steve responded. "You saved my life, and those kids, too." He shook his head in disbelief.
You felt your face grow hot at his words, not knowing how to respond. "I'm sure you are exhausted. You didn't have to stay."
"I had to make sure you were okay," he admitted. "I'm Steve."
"Y/N." You tried to smile at his cute pleasantries, but winced at the persistent throbbing in your shoulder. "Is it bad?"
"I'm sure a tough girl like you can handle it. The doctor should be in here in a minute to tell you details," he answered.
The doctor told you that your ribs were broken and your stab wound was deep but no longer life threatening after they stopped the blood. It was going to take a while to recover.
You dozed off, and it must have been a long time because when you awoke the second time, the room was covered in flowers. A stack of cards sat on your table, and you rose the bed again to reach for them.
A swell of happy emotions built up inside of you as you read the sweet words of the kids you saved. It was so relieving to know they were okay.
"You're a hero," Steve said from the door, this time in jeans and a blue jacket. He was handsome.
You wiped the fallen tears off of your cheek. "I'm nothing but a teacher."
"You're a hero to me," he smiled slightly, and a warm feeling bloomed in your chest.

📋 Hello I am putting a formal request in for more Chris Saves Himself AU ft Mama Nakamura taking him I’m home only to realize the full situation
Continuing the Chris Saves Himself AU: One | Two |
CW: Grief, memory loss, recovering whumpee, some very brief and very vague references to noncon, minor whumpee (OC is 17), angsty fluff, reunion
It takes six days for the cops to let Akio's mom bring Tristan back to their house.
He's ready to be discharged from the hospital by day two, but there's nowhere for him to go. WRU is still saying there's no record of his existence, even with the barcode on his wrist. Tristan's only known living relative, Joanne Botham, is claiming he ran away from home and she had no idea what happened to him, that what she had told the Nakamura family was out of frustration and anger at Tristan for disappearing. The governor is out on bail facing charges for keeping Tristan in the mansion in the first place.
There are a lot of charges.
Akio feels by turns numb and enraged when he hears a news anchor read them out loud, bloodless words that don't seem to reflect at all how serious their meanings are.
The first few, he can process - false imprisonment, bodily assault - but then they keep going, and they get worse in ways Akio can barely even begin to imagine.
What Tristan has lived through... Akio's brain refuses to let it coalesce fully, but he has nightmares, dreams about Tristan screaming for him and being on the other side of a door Aki can't open.
He dreams about hands on Tristan's body and the way he might have screamed for help. Akio wakes up crying, retching, running to the bathroom to throw up whatever he's eaten that day as if he can rid himself of the poison of knowing.
His mom calls a therapist.
His father tells him to stop watching the news.
Akio just waits until they're in bed and searches for everything he can find on twitter, on reddit, on every-fucking-place anyone is talking about this. And it's everywhere.
He stops telling his parents about his nightmares after the second night.
Oliver Branch says WRU sold him a product they knew was outside the bounds of the law and lied to him about it. WRU says they don't know what he could possibly mean by that and they have no paperwork or documentation that Tris was ever in the system at all, and if he was, then there must have been a mistake about his age. They swear they'll do a total review of every single Box Boy, Babe, or Buddy to ensure absolute compliance.
The soundbites make Akio's mouth dry.
How many are there, then? If they have to keep looking to find more? How many like Tristan?
How many?
Joanne Botham, who never answers Aimi's furious calls and then changes her number after the second day, goes on TV and says she did nothing wrong and there's no proof that anything happened except maybe Tristan lying about his name and age to make WRU agree to take him in. Oliver Branch says he has the proof WRU knew, and he'll provide it in exchange for immunity.
They all point fingers at each other on national television, in press conferences and through their attorneys.
Through it all, Tristan sits in a hospital bed staring out the window at the blue sky as though it will be stolen from him all over again, waiting to be told where to go, what to do.
And it takes Aimi nearly a week to get the police to agree to allow her to take him home. She brings everything she can think of to meetings with the detectives heading up the case, shows them reams of team photos and home movies, folders and folders of everything Aimi and Mrs. Higgs had ever talked about or done together with the boys.
The hospital needs the room, needs the bed. The detectives don't want to put him into foster care when he barely seems to understand he's a person. The social services people won't take him because they're not equipped to handle a situation like this one. The adjustment houses don't want him because of something to do with what kind of Boxie he was, and Aimi doesn't elaborate and something in the set of her expression makes it clear Akio shouldn't ask.
After a week of mostly just being able to look at him through the small little square window in the hospital room's door, Aimi finally gets legal permission to take him out of there.
Akio isn't prepared for the slew of news vans that are there when he and Aimi arrive, someone having tipped off reporters that they might get a glance of the governor's secret Box Boy today. Aimi, though, simply sets her shoulders, slides a pair of dark sunglasses on, and walks through the crowd like a queen with her head held high, a small duffel bag handle in hand.
Akio hurries behind her, hands in his pockets and shoulders hunched, hood pulled over his head, trying to ignore ten thousand camera flashes. It's so much worse than the leadup to the Olympics would have been, if he were still performing at elite.
Or at all.
He has a strange, surreal hope that Tris won't be disappointed in him for quitting after Tris died.
Even though he's not dead.
They step into the hospital room around 10 in the morning to find Tristan not in the bed, but sitting on the couch built into the wall under the window, curled up on the crinkly plastic cushions to look out the window, humming low, soft and tuneless.
The hum makes Akio's heart ache with a sudden realization that this odd waking dream he's been living for a week isn't a dream at all. Tears flood his eyes and he has to blink them away as fast as he can. He's heard that hum in his ear as kids during sleepovers, he's heard it when Tris was nervous before performing a new routine, he's heard it while they waited anxiously for scores or studied for school.
"Hey, sweetheart," Aimi says, her voice low and soft, but even so Tris jumps and turns to look at them with wide, startled eyes. One hand goes up to his neck, and Akio swallows when he sees Tris has wrapped gauze around his neck to sit like the collar he was wearing when he fell from the governor's bedroom balcony.
Akio watched the cell phone video that made the rounds over and over and over again. The flash of red hair, shirtless, the bruises he was covered with, his hazy drugged eyes. Over and over and over again.
Watch him fall, watch him land, watch the people run to him and get him out of there when Akio has been sitting here crying his eyes to red half the time for a dead best friend who wasn't dead at all.
"H, Hello," Tristan says, but he doesn't know them. Akio can tell, the way his eyes move between them is uncertain, unsure. "Hello, ma'am. Can, can, can I, what..." He swallows, shivering, and Akio watches the fear move across his face. "What... what can I... do for you?"
His slowed-down voice makes Akio feel sick. He's only ever seen Tristan do that when he's with people who don't understand him or love him for who he is. Now it seems like it's the only way he remembers how to talk.
All Tristan's muscles from gymnastics are gone, leaving only faded shadows of his strength behind. He's skinny, so pale he nearly reflects the light from the ceiling. His freckles are faded, and his hair is shorter than Tris ever liked it.
Being so thin makes his eyes even bigger, they seem to overwhelm the rest of his face.
"Honey, we're going to take you to our house," Aimi says, keeping her voice the same low gentle cadence. "While we figure out what happens next. Aki and I will be taking care of you for a while. How's that sound? Would that be okay?"
Tristan looks between them again, and something shifts in his face. A kind of desperation moves there, and he turns more fully to face them, leaning over a little to look up at them. Hair falls over his forehead, and his hands move to rub over the texture of a loose pair of sweatpants someone gave him to wear under his hospital gown. "To... your house? Would I be... yours?"
He looks at Akio again, and there's something in his face that says he sees that as the best case scenario, that he was ready for far, far worse than simply changing owners. That he's... hoping he'll be Akio's property now.
Akio's stomach flips at the thought and he has to put a hand over his mouth and turn away, catching the sob before it can make its way up out of his throat.
Aimi's arm moves around his shoulders instinctively, and she leans over, pressing a kiss to her son's short black hair. "It's okay," Aimi whispers. "It'll be hard at first. But it's going to be okay, Aki. Saishūtekini wa daijōbudesu. Tristan wa mada anata no shin'yūdesu."
Tristan, sitting on the little couch, blinks a few times. "Friend," he says in English, a little haltingly. "Shin' yu. Means... best friend." He scoots closer to them along the couch, and his eyes are so big and so very, very green. Just how Akio always remembered them.
Aimi's head raises and turns to look at him, her arm tightening around Aki, breath catching in her throat. "You remember that?"
"No." Tristan shakes his head. Scoots a little closer, even. "Yes. I don't know why. Are you..." He looks at Akio. "Wa-... watashitachiha... sh-shin, um, shin-shin'yūdeshita. Yes? Did I-... did I say it right?"
Tristan's Japanese was never great, he'd just picked up some here and there from all the time he spent around the Nakamuras at home and in their car. They used to lay awake at night during sleepovers practicing over and over until Tristan had a new phrase to impress Aimi with.
But hearing his voice, his living breathing real live voice, sounding out the words...
It's too much.
It's too fucking much.
"Yeah, um, y-yeah, you-..." Akio's words are suddenly gone. He chokes on his fear that this somehow is a dream he will wake up from to find Tris still cold in some unknown open grave, and he can't keep the tears back any longer.
His knees buckle under the onslaught of grief and hope and fear and love, and he drops to the cold tile hospital floor, hands pressed over his mouth until his lips are pushed painfully into his teeth, and he wails, muffled but loud enough that there's rustling as the cops guarding the door turn to look inside through the viewing window.
Aimi drops into a crouch behind him, rubbing at his back as he curls over himself. Her voice trembles with tears she doesn't shed. Akio remembers the days after they were told Tristan was dead, how she would cry in her room at night with Aki's dad when he was home from work, but somehow when he and Emi were bawling their heads off, her voice stayed calm, she kept her composure.
Right up until she was alone.
Now, though, she's barely hanging on as her son sobs on a hospital room floor before the emptied-out shell of his best friend.
Bare feet pad along the floor until Tristan drops down in front of him, reaching slowly out. Cool fingertips touch the back of Akio's hand, and he pulls them slowly down to look and see Tristan only a foot or so away from him, kneeling, watching him.
"I know you," Tristan whispers. "It hurts, but... I know... you. Don't, um, don't I?"
Akio can barely see him through the tears that have turned the world to watercolor suggestions. Nothing's in focus. But he grabs onto Tristan's hand, those familiar always-cold fingers, and holds tight.
"You know m-me," He manages. "You do, Tris. You know me. We-... we know you. We want to t-t-take you h-home."
Tristan tilts his head to the side, and it's such a familiar gesture, one he was so sure he'd never get to see again. "My... name is Baldur," He says, softly. "My Sir named me-"
"Please don't call him that. Can you... can you answer to Tristan? Please?" Akio is the one to reach out this time, touching Tristan's shoulder, hesitant. Waiting for him to pull back and away, to flinch like he's been doing when they watch him with the nurses.
Instead, Tris takes a breath and leans into the touch.
"It hurts," He says. "But, but, but, but-... but I can try."
Akio nods, and then Tristan is moving forward, and their arms are around each other and Akio is scared of himself for a second, scared of the welling of feelings he can't control. He's afraid he'll crack Tristan's ribs with how tightly he holds on.
Tristan's face buries itself against his neck, into the crook of his shoulder.
"I missed you so much," Akio whispers against the coppery hair. He's going to start crying again. He can hear his mom sniffing behind him, digging into her purse to pull out the little pack of tissues she always has in there. "I missed you so, so much, Tris."
"I think... I think I, I, I missed you, too," Tristan whispers back, and Akio isn't sure if he can even know if he means it, but he also knows that it's so good to hear the words that he doesn't even care.

June 13: T4T Wangxian! 🏳️‍⚧️
genderbend wangxian, no, bendier than that
Read on ao3
When they first meet in high school, Lan Zhan can't stand him; she doesn't like boys as a rule, and Wei Ying is the worst: loud and cocky and flirts with everyone.
Her friend Nie Huaisang goes out with him once and swears up and down that he's pretty cool really, a perfect gentleman on their date. Lan Zhan bites her tongue and asks if he'll be seeing him again, but Nie Huaisang shakes his head.
"There just wasn't much of a spark there, y'know? I'd like to be friends, though, if you wouldn't mind him hanging out with us sometime?" And Nie Huaisang has been her best friend since they were five-year-olds drug to their big brothers' wushu competitions, so...
So that's how Lan Zhan finds herself eating lunch every day of senior year with Nie Huaisang and Wei Ying, Most Awful Boy in School.
It's surprisingly un-awful.
Wei Ying is still loud and cocky, but he is also kind and generous. She'd known he was smart—they'd often competed for the top spot in their classes—but she comes to realize that much of his flirting is honest curiousity about everyone and everything.
Including her.
"Lan Zhan, you should let me set you up on a date! Who do you like? There are lots of girls at this school who have a crush on Lan-jiejie, you know."
She did not know. She tries to tell him she does not need to be set up. Nie Huaisang betrays her and sides with Wei Ying.
Here's the other thing about Nie Huaisang & Wei Ying: they are weirdly good at matchmaking. She knows of at least four couples who started dating on their suggestion.
(They are not good at finding themselves dates, but that's a different story.)
"Hmm... oh! Lan Zhan, do you think you might like Mianmian?"
Lan Zhan goes on the date.
(She and Luo Qingyang date for the rest of senior year and part of that next summer, then break up amicably when they start university in different cities. They remain friends and pen pals.)
Lan Zhan and Wei Ying graduate at the top of their class. She has a little snapshot of them all at graduation, she and Nie Huaisang and Mianmian and Wei Ying and even Wei Ying’s brother Jiang Cheng, all in their hats and baggy gowns, looking proud and happy and ready to take on the world.
There's a lot of world, as it turns out.
People move, they graduate, they get jobs and fall in love and change their number and lose touch.
Sometimes they find out new things about themselves.
"Nonbinary" is a new thing.
Ge is adorkably supportive. Nie Huaisang congratulates them, and Mianmian sends a sweet message. Lan Zhan doesn't really have a conversation about it with Uncle, but the first time they wear a binder and blazer to a family lunch, he just compliments them on their outfit and asks about the new exhibit they've been working on for the museum.
Wei Ying’s messages had started bouncing a few years back, and Lan Zhan mostly manages not to wonder what he'd say.
Lan Zhan cuts their hair and grows it out again, because sometimes you just have to try things to see if they're you.
(Lan Zhan had learned that from Wei Ying.)
They date, a bit, and adopt a pair of rabbits. They find what makes them feel at home in their body.
They love their job and smile inside every time a wide-eyed kid takes in their long braided hair and earrings and makeup and the lean, crisp lines of their work outfits with awe.
They let Nie Huaisang teach them how to dance, and do brunch with Ge and his partners, and they travel, sometimes for work and sometimes for themself.
They visit Mianmian, meet her wife and baby daughter, and travel to see their mother's family, and other times go somewhere they know no one.
It's at a craft market in one such town, looking at handmade jewelry and homemade jams, that Lan Zhan hears a musical laugh they haven't heard in years.
They follow it past booths of landscape photos and hand-thrown pottery and beaded necklaces until they turn a corner to see —
Long glossy hair in a high ponytail. Elegant wrists and lively hands. A flowing skirt that flutters in the spring breeze as the person at this table of what Lan Zhan belatedly realizes is small-batch fruit wines waves goodbye to a happy customer before turning and—
"Wei Ying."
It's undoubtedly Wei Ying's eyes that go wide and surprised. Undoubtedly Wei Ying’s smile that spreads across this lovely face. Undoubtedly Wei Ying who responds, "Lan Zhan! Fancy meeting you here, after all this time."
Lan Zhan can feel a smile in the corners of their own lips.
"Come here, come here, tell me what you're up to these days. You look fantastic, Lan Zhan, have a seat, I want to hear everything that—ah, if you have time?"
Lan Zhan has time. Lan Zhan thinks they would sit at this market stall until dark to keep that smile on Wei Ying’s face.
"I do. Wei Ying, you also look—" beautiful, captivating, happy, alive "—fantastic."
Lan Zhan does not remember Wei Ying blushing like this in school. It's utterly charming.
Lan Zhan sits at Wei Ying’s stall for hours.
("This is more words than you ever said to me back then!")
They catch up. Wei Ying lives and works at a small family farm outside this town. Wei Ying declares Lan Zhan's job as a museum curator "perfect for you!"
They do the pronoun thing.
("It changes? But 'she' today."
"'They,' as a rule; 'she' when it's too..."
"Sure, I get it.")
Eventually, Wei Ying carefully asks if Lan Zhan has kept up with anybody they'd both known.
She's delighted by the news of Luo Qingyang's marriage and child, and thrilled that she and Lan Zhan remain friends. ("I knew you'd like her, Lan Zhan!")
Wei Ying’s face does something complicated when Lan Zhan asks about the Jiangs, so they let her change the subject. There's a little boy on the farm, apparently, who Wei Ying adores.
Wei Ying does not sell very much more wine that day, but she won't hear of Lan Zhan apologizing.
It's not quite dark when Lan Zhan helps Wei Ying pack up the unsold jars, but it is late enough that it's easy to ask her for a recommendation for where to eat dinner, then insist that Lan Zhan treat her to a meal.
It is dark by the time they leave the restaurant.
Lan Zhan goes to bed smiling that night, a new number in their phone under a contact they could never quite bring themself to delete.
Wei Ying has never visited the museum Lan Zhan had come here to see. Lan Zhan barely notices the art, too distracted by the light in her eyes.
The train ride between towns is not long.
Later, under cheerful lanterns strung up at the Wen farm to celebrate Wei Ying's birthday, Lan Zhan mentions they've gotten a position at the museum they visited that first weekend.
Wei Ying's kiss tastes like cherry wine and happiness.
Epilogue thoughts:
Wei Ying's jiejie does her hair at the wedding. Jiang Cheng cries on Nie Huaisang at the reception. Mianmian and Mian's Ma'am and Xiao Mianmian are, of course, all in attendance as well.
Lan Zhan and Wei Ying hang a picture of all of them at the wedding in their new house, with an old, faded snapshot tucked in the corner of the frame.

woke me up from the longest dream
Summary: Alex and Michael follow up on a lead and find something powerful.

"Why is it so fucking cold?"
"Welcome to Montana," Alex said dryly.
Michael made a face and shoved his hands in his pockets. He was doing his best to be mature about Alex inviting him on this trip. It was another loose lead he found and he was irritated that he didn't find it until after he came back home. Michael had offered to help after a grueling time in self-induced misery and Alex had agreed and he had planned to use this time to show Alex how much he'd grown.
However, there was something about being alone with Alex that made him feel a little like he hadn’t.
"Are you not cold?"
"Didn't we deduce that your species is from a really cold planet due to your body temperature and the clothing Tripp described they were wearing?" Alex asked back.
Michael was used to a vaguely snarky Alex, it was in his genetic makeup. This was a different level though. Alex was in one of the worst moods Michael had ever seen him in that didn't result in a fight, instead it was all icy silence and irritated answers. Michael wasn't sure if it was because of his breakup with Forrest or if it was something else entirely. Maybe it was the fact that Michael was here at all.
He decided to keep quiet.
"You got me," Michael said, taking slightly bigger strides to keep up with Alex.
They were in a small town that served as a hub for a few even smaller towns that surrounded it. It had one small stretch of road with all the local businesses in it, a shabby hotel, a diner, and a farmer's market being the three biggest options. There were a couple others buildings, but Michael couldn't say what they were by just looking at them from the outside.
Alex seemed to know where he was headed though and he waltzed up to a building that was only identifiable by a sign that was meant to say CORRIE'S but was missing a few letters and said CORE instead. He pushed the door open and Michael followed. The inside had the heater blasting in a way that immediately smothered him, but he managed to keep his face even. It looked like a convenience store with only three rows of shelves in the middle. A sign at the back door read GAS PUMP IN BACK. Michael thought that was bad advertising.
"Hello," an older woman at the counter greeted. She seemed to be the only one here.
"Hey," Alex said, approaching her and turning on an easy smile. Logically Michael just knew he was being charming to get what he came here for. Illogically, it felt like Alex could be nice to everyone but him.
How many times could he tell himself to grow up?
"What can I help you two with?" she asked.
"Correct me if I'm wrong, but this place is owned by someone who used to live in Fort Belknap?" Alex said, not even beating around the bush to charm her more. That was the only thing to convince him it wasn't just him.
The woman stared at him, face unchanging.
"Who's asking?"
"Holt," Alex said, smiling and tilting his head a little bit, "Carla Holt, to be more specific."
She breathed in and closed her eyes for a moment before opening them a few moments later.
"Their timing has always been impeccable," she said, gesturing towards a door behind her, "Come."
"Who's Carla Holt?" Michael whispered to him as they followed. Alex grabbed his arm and squeezed, nearly causing Michael to fully trip over air.
"Just follow my lead. Stay quiet," Alex explained quietly, "I'll tell you later."
And Michael did as he said.
"You must be the littlest Manes boy," the woman said as she led them into a little office. It was cluttered and didn't really seem like the top secret place Michael was imagining.
"Yes, ma'am."
"Corrie," she corrected, "I never did like the sound of ma'am."
"Alright," Alex said, laughing lightly even though didn't reach his eyes, "My mother told me the same thing."
"I bet so," Corrie said, digging through messy drawers of a desk. She sat down heavily into the beat up chair and started digging through a file cabinet. "I kept telling myself it'll eventually come and bite me in the ass, carrying secrets for someone I only hear from once every few years, but you never know what you're getting yourself into until after you're stuck."
"Yeah, I know how that feels," Alex sighed. Michael's eyes drifted to him. He avoided eye contact completely.
"I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting you. Your brother, maybe. Part of me expected your father to bust down my door more than anyone," she went on. Corrie pulled out a small box and opened it, looking in and making a face before closing it and tossing it over her shoulder.
"Guess I'm the sucker who agreed to clean up duty."
Corrie laughed.
Truly, Michael expected more danger and more difficulty. He expected a fight or at least tension. Instead, Alex and Corrie made small talk about their shitty affiliations while Corrie dug through decades worth of clutter. Eventually, she pulled out a box and opened it and took a deep breath. She closed it again before giving it to Alex and Alex didn't reopen it so Michael had no idea what was in it. All he knew was that it went into Alex's bag.
"Thank you "
"Keep it safe," Corrie said, "Keep yourself safe." Then for the first time her eyes drifted to Michael. "You too. There aren't many of you left."
It was hot in the building, but somehow Michael felt like he'd jumped in ice water.
"Thank you."
"Mhm. Now get the hell out of my store before somebody follows you."
"Of course. Thank you again," Alex said politely and then he did as she said, turning on his heel and walking away. Michael wanted to stay and ask more–if she knew what he was, maybe she knew things he didn't and they could get rid of Mr. Jones–but Michael simply followed Alex's lead.
"Alex," Michael said, nearly having to jog to keep up. Alex opened the door of the store and a blast of cold hit Michael in the face, colder than before due to the extreme warmth inside. It took him a moment to reboot his mind enough to finish what he was saying. "Alex, what's in the box?"
Alex managed to close his eyes and shake his head in disapproval without slowing his pace.
"Can you wait until we get to the hotel?" Alex asked, cold again. Michael nodded despite the fact Alex couldn't see him, deciding that a verbal answer probably would be annoying in itself.
The problem with silence was that it was a sure way to get Michael to spiral. He had discovered very recently that being alone when he wanted to be alone the most was the worst idea. Now, he didn't want to be alone as much as he wanted answers. Walking in silence down a street while wondering what was in Alex's bag, who Carla Holt was, why Alex was angry, etc, etc, etc, was only making his mind race.
By the time they stepped into the lobby of the hotel, Michael was sure that Alex had just borrowed a bomb from an old lady and he was going to explode himself and whoever Carla Holt was was going to hunt Michael down in revenge. He of course didn't say that. Instead, he tapped his foot as Alex requested a room with two queens and didn't realized that the worker snorted because he was assuming they were two queens until after they were already heading to the room.
"Should I go spit in his drink?" Michael asked when he realized.
"No," Alex said, "You'd probably make it taste too sweet."
Michael again found himself stumbling over nothing and he looked at Alex, wondering what the hell was he talking about. But it was the nicest thing he'd said to him the whole trip and Michael decided to take it very personally.
"You sayin' I'm sweet?" Michael asked, grinning. A smile pulled at Alex's mouth that he very quickly schooled, slowing as he came to their room.
"I'm saying your saliva, and probably your other bodily fluids, have a higher concentration of a glucose-like chemical," Alex said, "As proved by Kyle and Liz when we got drunk."
"You guys drunkenly tested our saliva's glucose levels?" Michael asked, laughing a little. Alex finally speaking to him made his brain stop wandering as much. Not completely–he was still wondering about that box–but enough.
"We were talking," Alex said, unlocking the door with the keycard, "And noticed we all thought you three tasted sweeter than other people we'd kissed and, well, you know. So we did some tests."
"That's... Interesting," Michael said, letting the door close behind them.
Alex walked over to the bed closest to the door and carefully sat his bag down. Michael watched him, staying near the door. He was still unsure about where they stood. He knew Alex cared about him and he knew Alex didn't hate him, but he was also still holding him at arm's length. And then there was that box. He didn't want to push.
But Michael wasn't known for his patience.
"Alex," Michael said, "What's in that box?"
Alex swallowed and looked up at him for a moment before patting the bed beside him. An invitation. One that made Michael's stomach drop and twist in 11 knots. But he walked closer, sitting beside Alex. Alex stared at him, his features slowly loosening up to betray his feelings. His eyebrows pulled together in that kind of worry that meant he felt like he was drowning, scrambling to pull himself to the surface and never able to get a good grip. Which would explain the coldness, he supposed.
"You know you can trust me, right? I'm... I'm working on not being so self-destructive, and, like, knowing I'm helping you out kinda helps when I feel shitty," Michael said. Alex huffed a small laugh and shook his head, dropping his chin to his chest for a moment. When he looked Michael in the eye again, he was back to being serious.
"I did something stupid," Alex said, softly like it was a secret, "I agreed to something without knowing what I was getting myself into. And I'm kind of stuck right now."
"Stuck? What do you mean stuck?" Michael said, following his lead and whispering.
"I'm figuring it out, alright? Don't worry. I'll tell you later," Alex said, reaching out to squeeze his arm before dropping it back to the bed, "And I checked before we even left that I wasn't bugged and I've kept my eye out to know that we aren't being followed. And my computer definitely isn't. We're good. They're tracking me, but only to the extent I'm letting them. It's okay."
"That doesn't sound okay," Michael said.
"Trust me like I trust you, alright?" He said. Michael reluctantly nodded. "I need you to hold something for me."
Michael blinked. "The box."
"Yeah."
"Who's Carla Holt?" Michael asked. Alex smiled softly
"It's not a who, it's a what. It's a code from my mom's side of things. She knows more about the alien shit than she let on," Alex sighed, "I didn't stand a fucking chance not being involved with this shit. My dad, my mom, you. So, you know, if you ever feel bad about that, it's my fucking destiny."
Michael swallowed and nodded, feeling more eager by the second to know what was in that box. Needed to keep hearing Alex say how fated they were to know each other. Needed Alex to touch his arm again and smile.
"Okay," Michael said, trying to stay in his own space, "So we're fated. Cosmic connection. Called it."
Alex broke into a wide smile, genuine and welcoming as he shoved Michael's shoulder gently. "Shut up."
"Show me," Michael said instead. Alex's smile faded just a little.
"Do me a favor and double check our surroundings," Alex said. Michael nodded and tilted his head, sending a chair to lodge itself under the doorknob and pressed the curtains tightly to the wall. His eyes slid closed as he did a mental sweep of the building, not noticing anything out of order. When he opened his eyes again, Alex seemed to be closer. "Thanks."
"Show me."
Alex sighed and nodded, hesitantly reaching into his bag and pulling out the box. It was clear now that it was made of really nice wood, intricate carvings covering it. Alex handled it with an extreme care that Corrie didn't have with it. His eyes flickered between the box and Michael a few dozen times before he hesitantly opened it and Michael leaned closer to see.
"It's just a ring," Michael said, almost disappointed. It looked like a normal, silver band that was old and unpolished after years of being tucked away.
"Not just a ring," Alex said, he kept his fingers very precise as he picked it up. Michael didn't miss the way it seemed to ripple at his touch.
"Something alien," Michael acknowledged.
"Something alien," Alex confirmed, "Most of the glass and even the rocks that you've had so far all seem to be crafted and at least heavily altered by your people to be as useful as they are. This... This was passed down as a pure substance that was mined and cut into a wedding band to mimic human customs." Alex looked at him. "It pre-dates your mother landing here, Michael."
Michael let out a shaky breath, eager and hungry for knowledge for the first time in a long time. He'd poured over Tripp's journal over and over, poured over Caulfield and Project Shepard records, all of it painful and sickening with an unhappy ending. And now there was something new– old –that might actually give him something more. Proof that aliens were here before his mother, proof that there was a reason they came to Earth of all places. More secrets he craved to uncover. He missed the feeling.
"It's powerful and, as far as I can tell, the last of it left. The rest was probably destroyed with your planet. But it's old and... and sentimental. One of the older women on the reservation told me the sentimentality powered it more. Because it's not just a ring that symbolizes love or a bond between two people, but it's a new start. Blending the past they chose to leave behind together with something new and different. Safer and secure. Together," Alex said. Michael swallowed, eyes unable to break away from Alex's. Alex cleared his throat and looked back down at it. "That's what she said anyway. There was probably two at one point, but I'm sure the other is lost to time."
"Yeah, okay. Okay," Michael said, agreeing without hesitation, "I'll take care of it and keep it safe."
He went to grab it, but Alex pulled it out of his reach.
"Michael," he said, "When I say it's powerful, I mean the moment you put it on, something's going to… happen."
Michael hadn't really intended to put it on, but it seemed Alex knew him well enough to know that eventually he would.
"What kind of something?"
"I don't know, Michael. I just know legend says it has unspeakable levels of power. So, please, be careful with it. I'd prefer you do it with someone around in case it overloads you or something," Alex said. Michael didn't point out what Isobel had before–he was the only one who didn't have a limit.
"Why not just put it on right now?" Michael said, "We're in the clear and you're here. Why not?"
Alex breathed in and out, staring at him with that same worried, downing look. Michael selfishly enjoyed it for a few moments–enjoying that he cared that much. So he smirked and held out his left hand, feeling confident.
"Go ahead, Alex. Put a ring on it," he said. A smile pulled at Alex's lips that he fought, but he relaxed his shoulders and grabbed Michael's hand with his empty one.
Alex's hand was warm. Michael was sort of obsessed with the feeling of it. Why hadn't they been holding hands this entire time?
"I'm right here, okay? So if you need me to take it off or if you feel like you're going to lose control, let me know. Try not to throw me," Alex said. Michael rolled his eyes.
"I don't give a shit how much power I have injected into me, I'm not going to hurt you," Michael said. Alex raised an eyebrow. "Physically. Come on now, cut me some slack."
"Maybe," Alex said, putting the ring closer. Michael could feel it now that it was millimeters away from his skin, the power of it overwhelming. And Michael was intrigued. "Ready?"
"Always."
Alex slid the ring onto his ring finger.
The wave of power hit him instantly and, before he could adjust, sent him into a mindscape. Or–he thought it was. The room was damp and dark, unwelcoming. Michael looked around for something, someone, but he was alone. It was crowded with things, though, inventions and technological structures. It looked like his own lair but significantly less familiar, less comforting.
“Michael?”
Michael turned towards the voice and saw Alex at the top of a ladder, staring down at him with a face that said he was doing everything to stay calm. He had red stains on his clothes. Michael stared at him, unsure what to do. Alex was down the ladder and centimeters away from him so quickly that it could only be achieved by him seeing something that wasn’t happening just yet.
“Are you okay?” Alex asked, “I’m sorry.”
“Don’t apologize,” Michael said, instinctually, “Where are we? What is this place?”
Alex looked around the room, his face betraying his pain before he met Michael’s eyes again. Then his hand was on Michael’s cheek with a warm and grounding presence. Michael’s heart was about to burst out of his chest.
“My research,” he sighed, “Half of it’s destroyed anyway. Let’s go.” Michael didn’t really think that sounded right. This didn’t feel like Alex’s space. He’d been in enough of Alex’s spaces before to know what they felt like. This wasn’t it.
“Your research?” he said. Alex gave him a look and stroked his thumb over his cheekbone.
“I’ll tell you later.”
“Stop that,” Michael said, his voice sounding more irritated than he meant. He could feel the anger in his body, but he didn’t know the source. “Stop not telling me things. You keep doing that. You need to tell me.”
“You’re right,” Alex agreed, swallowing, “But we need to get out of here. I swear I’ll tell you once we get in the car. But we need to get out of here.”
“You promise you’ll tell me in the car?” Michael said. Alex nodded.
“I promise.”
They were upstairs just as fast as Alex had been downstairs. Michael saw blood. He turned his head to find the source, but Alex’s hand was back on his neck to stop him.
“Don’t look. Let’s just go to the car.”
“What, you tryna baby me?” Michael asked, “You know I’ve seen some shit.”
“Yeah, I know,” Alex said, still leading him towards the door as his thumb dug slightly into the muscle on his neck, “Doesn’t mean I have to show you more.”
Michael sucked in a breath and he was thrown back into his body, the power from the ring still thrumming through him and teasing a possible second surge. It was old and unused and desperate to stretch out some of it's pent up energy.
Alex was there, staring at him and holding onto him. He was so close, so real, and so was that memory that was just in the opposite direction. Michael stared at him, taking him in.
"What happened?" Alex asked, hands squeezing his biceps. His hand started to slide up, but stopped at his shoulder. "Hey, you with me?"
"Yeah," Michael said, "I'm okay."
"What happened?"
"I think, uh," Michael breathed, swallowing. His throat felt dry again. The heat of the hotel seemed to work with the heat inside him; he was on fire in the best way. "I got, like, That's So Raven'd."
Alex blinked a couple times, his thumb moving in slow circles against his collarbone not too far from where it’d been moments ago in his vision. Michael wanted to let his eyes roll back into his head and just sink into the bed with Alex beside him and let this undeniable strength course through him.
"You saw the future?" he said, "Like one of Maria's visions?"
"I think so," Michael confirmed, "Only… mine wasn't of something bad. I mean, not really, anyway."
"What was it?" Alex asked.
Michael licked his lips, studying Alex for a moment. The ring on his finger fit perfectly as if it was made for him. The power it gave settled nicely in him, pulsing and eager to be used just a little bit more, but in a childish, playful way. It wanted to stretch after too many years being cooped up.
"Hey, I'm going to try to see something else," Michael said. Alex's eyes went wide as saucers.
"What? Tell me what you saw the first time," Alex pressed, his hand shifting just enough to cup the side of his neck. Michael layered his hand over his, feeling bold and unperturbed. At some point, they were going to get there. He was sure of that more now than ever.
And he wanted to see more.
" Michael ," Alex said, but Michael closed his eyes and breathed in, letting the power in the ring take him somewhere else.
And he was somewhere else.
He was standing at the end of a driveway. He looked around and tried to grab some sort of identifier, but all he saw was a house behind him and then a school bus headed towards him. It stopped in front of him, a kid stepping off and running towards him with a backpack almost as big as she was.
"Daddy!" the kid yelled and Michael tried his damnedest to act like he was meant to be here as the little body slammed against his legs for a welcoming hug. "Is Dad home yet? Can you tell him to get ice cream? I think we need ice cream."
"Oh, you think we need it?" Michael asked, walking with the kid towards the house. It felt natural, oddly enough.
"Yes," the kid said simply, running towards the door. She threw it open and Michael laughed and jogged the rest of the way. He could hear her already telling a story about school and he was trying to stay close enough to follow.
He walked into a foyer, pictures lining the wall. Family portraits.
Him and Alex. The three of them.
When Michael came back to his senses, Alex was right there again and staring at him without faltering. The ring was still alive, but it was at a sated hum now that it had been used a few times. He wondered how it would feel doing something he understood. He couldn’t wait to try.
“Hey,” Alex said, soft and comforting as he welcomed his weight. The vision he had was definitely not what he was looking for, he wanted to know more about Alex’s research and why it all felt so wrong and where the hell they were, but the second one…
“Hi,” Michael said, breathing and his eyes drifting down to his lips. Michael had experienced a lot of urges to kiss Alex before. Somehow this felt more dire.
“Please don’t do that again,” Alex said, “Maybe we should take it off.”
Michael shook his head carefully, eyes scanning him, “No, it feels fine now. It just needed to be used after being in a little box for decades. It’s good. Feels good.”
“Okay,” Alex said, still clearly hesitant. His fingers played with the hair at the back of Michael’s neck. There were two beds, but Michael was trying to figure out how to convince him to share one. They could fit. They’d shared smaller. “What’d you see?”
Michael breathed deep, wanting to get closer. He kept his hands to himself no matter how much he wanted to touch. He was being good. To get to where those visions said he was headed, he had to be good. Good for himself and Alex.
“Tell me what’s going on,” Michael said softly, “What are you researching? Who are you working with?”
Alex blinked once, twice before dropping his hand off of Michael. Which definitely hurt, but the fact that Alex didn’t move away definitely helped.
“What did you see?” Alex asked again, more pressing, “I know you saw that I’m researching something.”
Michael shrugged. He technically did, but he didn’t see anything identifiable. He didn’t know what it was. He would like to. Then again, he’d always wanted to know everything about Alex Manes.
“I didn’t see what,” Michael said, “I just saw that someone’s going to fuck with it. I think. I don’t know, we were in this basement looking thing and it felt really off and, and not like you, but you said your stuff was in it. And you had blood on you and when we went upstairs, there was more blood. But you said not to look. I don’t know what you did or what happened, but, like, if you told me, maybe we can prevent it getting that extreme.”
Alex stared at him for a long moment.
“You saw that both times?” Alex asked softly. Michael hesitated before shaking his head. “What else did you see, then?”
“Um,” Michael breathed, trying to think of the right words to say, “Uh. I don’t think, um…”
“ Michael.”
“Family portraits,” he said carefully, figuring that was easier to start with than a whole person who called them dad, “Like, ours. Um. I know we don’t belong in suburbia, but I guess we fucking get it anyway.”
He laughed. It wasn’t funny, but it was easier to say it like it was a joke. Alex looked at him, face confused.
“Suburbia? Like. White picket fence kinda thing?” Alex asked. Michael took a slow breath.
“I, uh, I didn’t see a fence, I was too focused on the‒” he stopped, licking his lips. Michael rubbed his thumb over the ring. It seemed to purr at the attention. Michael couldn’t wait to get back home and see what he could really do.
“On the what?” Alex prodded, reaching out to rest his hand on his leg and reigniting the contact. It felt so good. Michael really liked when he was touchy, it was his favorite thing about Alex.
“Um,” Michael breathed, feeling drunk off the attention and the ring all at once. He thought about lying, maybe that they were babysitting because that was close enough, but he was so tired of lies and half-truths and I’ll-tell-you-laters. “On the kid.”
Alex froze for a moment, “The kid?”
“Yeah,” Michael said, shrugging softly, “I, uh, I guess she was ours. She was calling us dad. Do we have any water? My throat is super dry.”
“I… I don’t think you’re seeing the future then, I’m never having kids. Do you realize how awful of a parent I would be? Awful. Neglectful. That’s not… And after I clearly fucking hurt people?”
“Maybe not,” Michael said, not about to argue right now. He was too busy feeling good. Alex kept his hand on his knee. “But whatever it was, it was good.”
Alex stared at him, quiet and clearly thinking things through. Michael let him. It was easier to give him space and time now. He’d gotten better at it before his visions, but they solidified to him that they were on a good path. It felt like they were making good choices and taking good steps. This was just a part of it.
Alex eventually took a deep breath, looked him in the eye.
“I’m gonna tell you what I’m doing, but you have to promise you’re going to stay out of it and trust me,” Alex said, “You promise?”
“I promise.”
“And you’re gonna promise to be honest with me?” Alex said, “And stay safe. Like, seriously. Don’t be reckless just because. I know you.”
I know you.
“Yeah. I’m doing better now,” Michael said, stretching his hand out, “I am. But I’m… I’m tired of not doing shit together. Doing stuff separately always gets us in shitty situations, Alex, I wanna be a team. Can I be on your team?”
Alex swallowed and moved his hand up, tucking Michael’s hair behind his ear.
“Yeah. Be on my team. Let’s be a team,” Alex said. He shifted and Michael waited patiently, watching him. “Okay, so. Deep Sky. It’s… it’s got some good people, I think, but it’s overall fucked. I don’t trust anyone in there, but it’s where I’m doing my research. Sort of. So I’ll tell you.”
It almost felt too good to be true to hear, but he didn’t need the ring to know that Alex was being honest. It showed him anyway. Truthfulness radiated off of him in vibrant blues and whites. He didn’t even need to get in his mindscape to be sure of it. It was strange to feel like that was unnecessary, like his body didn’t need confirmation because it already knew.  It didn’t feel like he was stepping off a ledge. He hoped Alex had the same confidence, wondered what would happen if he put the ring on him.
If Alex still felt like he was stepping off the ledge, he was going to be sure to catch every inch of him this time. No piece would hit the ground like all the times before.
He was going to make this work.
“Everything?”
“Everything.”

Misery Business pt. II
Imagine moving in with the Molina's after an incident back home. Instead of being angry, you realize this is your second chance to be truly happy and you really hope it goes better than your first attempt.
You can find PART ONE right HERE.
Tumblr media
Words: 5.3K Author’s Note: Requested by anonymous who asked for a sequel where Jerry finds out that Y/N met her soulmate. So here ‘ya go! I tried writing angst, but I just.. don’t know how? I hope you still enjoy this though. Also there might be some slight violence in case that’s triggering for anyone.
You've spent months with Luke now and every day with him so far has been absolutely mind blowing. Being with him is exactly like every textbook out there said what having a soulmate is like and you couldn't be happier. But of course not every day was a good day. Fortunately for you though, you and Luke were two people who didn't like being at odds with one another, so more often than not your issues were resolved within hours.
Everything in your and Luke's life seemed to be going smoothly, but after the novelty of finding his soulmate wore off it seemed like Luke's parents were pressuring him to do something with his life other than music. They thought it was a great hobby for him to have, but not something worth pursuing as his main source of income. You could see every little argument wearing on him, and you and your family did your best to cheer him up.
Eventually one of the arguments was bound to take things too far, so you weren't surprised when Luke showed up one night with tears in his eyes and his hands gripping tight to his backpack straps. Tía Rose and tío Ray were kind enough to let Luke stay the night, and you even persuaded them to let him share your bed with promises that there'd be no funny business- you just wanted to be there for him. You weren't surprised that he fell asleep so soon after showering and changing into pajamas, but you were surprised to receive a call just passed one in the morning from his mother.
Having crept out of bed, you walk downstairs to the kitchen to take the call. Mrs. Patterson is very apologetic for calling so late, but she's extremely worried about Luke's whereabouts. You ease her fears by admitting that Luke is with you and then mention that since Spring Break was about to start, that maybe it was best for Luke to stay with you for a little bit. When she remains quiet, you apologize for overstepping but go on to explain that seeing Luke so torn up after every argument with her was very disheartening. You just wanted your soulmate to be carefree again, even if it was only for a week. And then after hearing her sniffle, you feel like you really messed up, but Mrs. Patterson calls you a good soulmate and that she'd drop off a bag of Luke's clothes in the morning.
Then going back up to your room, you crawl back into bed and chuckle when Luke rolls over to pull you in so your back is against his chest. Inhaling and exhaling deeply, you allow yourself to relax and fall asleep in your soulmate's arms.
You're not one to keep secrets from Luke, so come morning you tell him about the phone call you had with his mom. He seemed a little apprehensive when he heard she had called, but quickly relaxed when you went on to tell him that you got her to agree to let him stay there in the Molina household.
"You think Rose and Ray will go for it?"
"Yes." You smile at him, swiping his hair out of his eyes. "They adore you like you're one of their own. Plus it helps they know you've been having issues with your parents, so they'll think it's a good idea you take a breather from them as well."
"Okay. But only if they're good with it."
"They will be."
And sure enough, when the two of you head down to breakfast, tía Rose and tío Ray are all for Luke staying after the latest blowout.
In fact, with the start of Spring Break, you find it hilarious that Alex and Reggie spend as little time as possible at their own homes. Carlos is ecstatic to have the boys to roughhouse with, tía Rose loves having extra hands around the house to help with the yard work, and Julie adores having her band with her so they have all the time in the world to write and have jam sessions.
It's during one of those jam sessions Julie gets you to sing, but you only agreed to it because Luke was determined to duet with you. You picked All Time Low's Remembering Sunday where Luke sang about ninety-nine percent of the song and you came in at the end for about twenty seconds worth of singing, but you put your all into it and stunned your friends. You hadn't known your cousin was recording videos of the session, so you were a little surprised when she told you.
"So remember the other day we were vibing out in the studio, and you and Luke killed it singing Remembering Sunday?"
"Um, yeah."
"Well I might have posted a video or two-"
"Julie!"
"-and it's gone viral."
"What!?"
"I'm sorry! I posted it on my page, Flynn reposted it on the band's page, and well it kind of took off from there." Julie cringes. "Apparently the fans really liked it."
"Ugh." You groan. She chuckles nervously and you eventually sigh when you see she feels really bad about your reaction. "Well I guess it's fine," you say and she starts to slowly relax. You don't know exactly what to say, so you say the first thing that pops into your mind. "So how many think I'm trying to break up the band?"
Julie snorts. "Only a handful. No more than twenty people that we've seen so far. We've told the fans you weren't breaking up the band or joining it, but that you and Luke were soulmates and you were just having fun with us. Some don't believe it."
You shake your head, grinning softly. "People are dumb, but whatevs. Everyone who matters knows the truth and that's enough for me."
Tumblr media
With Spring Break coming to a close, it's decided you're going to have a bonfire on the beach the Saturday before returning back to school. You know it's going to be a long night, so you and few others head to the store to stock up on snacks and drinks.
You, Alex, Julie, and tía Rose were the only ones mature enough to tackle the task of shopping, so the four of you piled into the car and left before Reggie could crawl his way into the very back without anyone knowing.
Between the four of you, loading the car with the groceries after shopping was an easy task, but apparently one individual didn't get that memo and figured you needed some help.
A bag that tía Rose picks up unfortunately tears and the cans inside go rolling. She curses in Spanish, which makes you and Julie giggle, but then an all too familiar voice freezes the blood in veins. "Oh no worries, ma'am. I got this."
Julie snorts as her mom giggles, Alex swears softly under his breath, and you're too terrified to look and see one of your fears come to life. But the second your tía starts making small talk, you can't help but look up. You immediately pale. It's Jerry. The same Jerry whose dark hair was tied into a small bun at the back of his head, who wore a distressed band tee, ripped jeans, and dark boots. The same Jerry whose smug little grin once made your heart flutter, but now only makes you feel sick to your stomach.
"Y/N," Alex steps in your line of sight when you can't seem to stop staring. "Hey, are you okay?"
"I-I'm fine." You can feel yourself sway on your feet and the moment all the groceries are in the back, you start towards Julie and her mom. "Tía, it's time to go." You grab at her wrist and start pulling her towards the driver's seat.
"Mija, don't be rude." You spare her a brief glance and she frowns at your expression. "What's wrong?
"Nothing. I just- I don't feel so well. Can we please go?"
"Y/N?" His voice makes your skin crawl and you jerk out of reach when you feel a hand touch your shoulder. "Is that really you? Wow! It's been too long."
His smarmy smile makes your stomach churn, but you have to keep it together. "Not long enough," you retort.
You know your family and Alex are looking at you like you've grown a second head, but tía Rose's expression hardens the moment Jerry chuckles. "I like the feistiness. It suits you."
"I'm sure it does."
Once Rose realizes the tension between you, she calls out for everyone to get in the car so you can head on home. Everyone opens up their respective door, but they're still standing outside the car when Jerry says, "It was nice to see you again, Y/N. I'm sure we'll see one another again real soon."
You scoff. "Don't count on it."
Marching over to your door, you open it up and drop into your seat. The others follow quickly after. You buckle up, your right knee bouncing anxiously as you continuously glance out the window. The car rides are usually loud and filled with off-key singing, but now the music can barely be heard and no one knows how to break the silence.
Finally, not able to take the silence or the stares you can practically feel burning into the side and back of your head any longer, you say, "That guy back there? That was Jerry."
A beat passes and then Julie sharply inhales. "Your ex? The one who pretended-"
"Yep!" You cut her off, breath stuttering as you try to inhale. "Ever since I moved he's been trying to contact me, but I blocked him on everything I could. Why did he- how did he find me?" You ask, voice shaky.
"Oh mija," Rose softly exhales. You turn your head to look at her and she shakes her head. "This isn't okay."
"I know."
"I think you need to talk to the police, especially since he followed you across states."
"Y-Yeah. Okay."
You feel a hand grab your shoulder and you flinch, but you quickly reach up to grab ahold of it. The small, too smooth hand lets you know it's Julie. "I'll call dad and tell him to meet us there."
Rose tells her that's a good idea and then Alex is saying, "Should I tell Luke? This feels like something he'll get pissed at me for, for not telling him."
"Of course," you say, "but tell him I'll call him after. He doesn't need to come down to the police department as well."
It doesn't take Ray long to get to the police department, and when he does he and Rose escort you inside while Julie and Alex stay outside. The female officer who takes your statement is quite appalled to hear that someone would fake soulmate words and is clearly upset to learn that he followed you across state lines, even after you did everything to conceal your location. She completely understands why you're so unsettled, but unfortunately there's not much they can do unless Jerry were to physically harm you or your family. She does, however, file the statement for future reference in case anything involving Jerry were to pop up in the future and it makes you feel a little bit better to know it's all on file.
Once you're free to go, Julie immediately throws herself into your arms when you're back outside. She's sobbing and it takes you a moment to understand what she's saying. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry! I was just thinking while you were gone and I think he found you because of me- because of the video I posted of you and Luke."
"Jules, no. It's not your fault."
"But it is! If that mega creep stalked my page, some of my posts have the locations tagged."
Oh. So yeah, maybe that is how he found you. You can see everyone else realize the sudden realization you came to as well, but you don't want to make your cousin feel any worse. "Don't even worry about it. You are not responsible for his actions. Okay? This is all on him."
"But-"
"I don't want to hear it," you cut her off, squeezing her just a little bit tighter. "I just want to put this day behind me, go home and put the groceries away, and cuddle with Luke while we brainstorm for our bonfire tomorrow night."
Julie pulls free from the hug, frowning. "You still want to go through with the bonfire after what happened today?"
"Duh." You smile gently at her. "We've been planning this for weeks. I'm not going to let Jerry's sudden appearance ruin our fun."
Julie looks like she's going to argue, but Ray is immediately by her side and wrapping an arm around her shoulders. "Mija, it's going to be okay. Y/N has all of you on her side and should anything happen we've got the card of the very nice officer who took our statement. It's going to be fine."
When Julie's calmed down, it's time to head home. Alex goes with Ray so he can be dropped off, but Julie goes with you and her mom. The drive is once again silent, but you don't mind it this time around. Though when you pull up to the house, you can't help but sigh at the sight of Luke pacing back and forth on the front porch.
Tía Rose chuckles as she parks. "Go," she tells you. "Julie and I can get the groceries. Go calm your soulmate."
You smile thankfully at her and do as you're told. Then as you're walking up the sidewalk, Luke hops off the porch and makes a beeline for you. He immediately wraps you up in his arms and you don't mind how tight he squeezes you.
"Lets go to the studio," you tell him.
Luke doesn't even bother arguing, he grabbing your hand as soon as he frees you from the hug to pull you towards the studio out back. Then upon entering the studio, Luke shuts the door behind you and drags you over to the couch. "What happened?"
You shrug. "Jerry found me. I don't know how he came across any video I was in, but we think he saw the video of me and you singing. Julie thinks he went through her page and took a chance by going to the location that was tagged in some of her posts."
"Bro, that's so messed up."
"You're telling me," you huff. "Julie feels terrible, but I don't blame her so.."
"Nah. It's not her fault. This dude is seriously screwed in the head." You nod, quietly agreeing. Sighing, you pull your legs up and curl them beside you, and lean into Luke's side. "So what did the police do?"
"Nothing. They can file a report about him following me, but they can't actually do anything unless he physically harms someone." Luke softly swears. "I'm actually kind of scared," you then admit. "I don't know why he's obsessed with me, but he knows I found my real soulmate. What if he does try to do something?"
"I'll kick his goddamn ass if I have to." You quietly chuckle, but Luke presses on. "I'm serious, Y/N. You are my soulmate. I will protect you until my dying breath. That jackass ain't gonna lay a finger on you."
"Have I ever told you how hot I find you when you get angry?"
He chuckles softly. "What?"
"Yeah. So hot," you muse. You glance up at him, lips twitching as you can clearly see how he's torn between finding amusement in your words and reprimanding you to be serious. "I can handle Jerry. Somewhat," you then softly admit. "Please don't do anything that will put you in handcuffs."
He sighs. "No promises."
"Whatever. I'll take what I can get."
Luke finally smiles and he quickly presses a kiss to your forehead. "Have I ever told you how adorable it is to see you going soft for me?"
"Fuck off, Patterson. Now lets go help sort the groceries so we can go pick out our spot on the beach for tomorrow night."
Luke laughs as you stand and tug him up so he can follow you out.
Tumblr media
Rose and Ray are a little hesitant to let you leave the following night, but after many reassurances they seem to realize that they're worrying for nothing. Willie shows up in a van and everyone cheers as they readily load up the back, Luke adding in two acoustic guitars for himself and Reggie. Alex automatically claims a seat in the front with Willie and Reggie beats everyone else in rock, paper, scissors to claim the other seat. So you, Luke, Julie, and Flynn sit in the back and try not to fall into each other with Willie's not so excellent driving skills.
You and Alex take on the responsibility of getting the fire going while everyone else situates the coolers of your food and drinks, and rearranges the chairs and blankets. It seems other kids had the same idea as you all because further down there are several other bonfires ready to be lit and every other face seems to be someone from Los Feliz High.
Once the fire is going and the music is just loud enough to be heard by everyone around your fire, Alex and Willie claim the blanket in the sand. You and Luke obviously sit next to one another, and Julie, Flynn, and Reggie stick together to mock the soulmates should anyone get a little too into displaying their affections.
It's a little too cool to take a dip in the water, so everyone makes do by burying Reggie in the sand or dancing around for some laughs. In between food and drinks, there are lip sync battles and originals sung by Julie, Luke, Reggie, and Alex, and it's the most perfect night. Pictures and video are taken, and everyone second guesses posting them, but you wave them off with the excuse that the damage has already been done.
A little after ten, Carrie saunters over and her appearance is enough to make the laughs taper off. You and Luke had stolen the blanket from Alex and Willie, and you were laying down with your head in Luke's lap so you were too comfortable to greet her by sitting up. Flipping her hair over her shoulder, Carrie says, "I knew every girl was just getting their hopes up. You and Luke are obviously still infatuated with one another."
As her words sink in, everyone immediately glances at you and Luke, and you frown at her. "What?"
She rolls her eyes. "There's some guy looking around for you. He's been telling everyone that you're his girl and he was supposed to meet you here."
There's a moment of silence and then, "Carrie, did this guy tell you what his name was?" Your heart stops and you immediately sit up in preparation for her answer.
"He probably did, but I didn't hear it over Alicia and Kaitlin squealing about Luke being single again."
Reggie snorts and you can hear Alex quietly reprimand his friend. "Did he have a man-bun, lots of bracelets on one wrist, skinny jeans, and combat boots?"
Whatever your expression is currently showing as you ask her, it throws Carrie off and you see her own haughty attitude diminish just the slightest. "Yeah. What's going on, Y/N?"
You sharply inhale and then Luke is immediately on his feet, draping an arm around your shoulders. "Come on. We should leave."
"No." Your tone startles him, and even Carrie, but then you look at Luke while softening your voice. "No. I'm not going to run away. He doesn't get to ruin my time with the people I love." A moment passes and then Luke nods, pressing a quick kiss to your forehead. You smile softly up at him before turning to look back at Carrie. "Be honest with me, Wilson. How much does everyone know about why I moved here?"
She shrugs. "By your second day here everyone knew you left your home because some asshole pretended to be your soulmate and like totally stalked you or something." No one says anything and you raise your eyebrows at her, willing her to connect the dots. Her eyes slightly widen as she realizes what you're silently telling her. "It's him, isn't it? The guy asking around about you."
You gulp. "His name is Jerry. I know we're not exactly friends, but do me a favor?" At her silence, you take it as a yes. "Spread the word. No one is to answer his questions and no girl goes off on their own. He's not a good person."
"Of course." She takes out her phone, ready to start sending off text after text. You sigh a little in relief, knowing that everyone will soon know a creep is hanging around. When Carrie glances back up at you, she frowns a little. "For what it's worth, I'm sorry. I didn't know it was him."
"Don't even worry about it. I didn't exactly tell anyone his name or showed a picture."
Carrie gives you a terse nod before she's straightening up, haughty expression back in place. As soon she takes her leave, everyone is suddenly on their feet surrounding you and Luke.
"What the hell?" Alex mutters. "This is so messed up."
"Am I gonna have to fight?" Flynn asks. "Because I am prepared to go to jail. Someone's just gonna have to bail me out."
Julie frowns. "I don't know about this, guys. I don't have a good feeling. Maybe we should go home."
"Are you kidding me?" Reggie scoffs. "There's one of him and seven of us. We'll be fine."
Willie glances between everyone, shrugging. "I'm down with whatever. If you guys wanna leave, we'll leave. If not, we'll stay."
Luke glances down at you. "What do you say, babe? Stay or go?"
"We stay. Now will everyone lighten up? We only got a couple of hours before beach patrol shuts us down."
Reggie whoops and you can't help but chuckle at his enthusiasm. Julie walks up to you then, still looking uneasy. "Are you sure about this? No one will think less of you for wanting to leave."
You flash her a small smile. "I'm not going to let him scare me off. And besides, it's like Reggie said. There's more of us than him. We'll be fine."
Only it wasn't fine. Not really. Because not even half an hour later the ex in question finally finds you.
Alex is the first to notice him, his laughter ceasing immediately as his expression hardens. Willie asks him what's wrong and upon following his line of sight he realizes what's going on. Then slowly but surely, everyone's fun nature disappears as they stand.
Jerry chuckles when you finally meet his gaze. "Told you see we'd see each other again real soon."
You sigh, your hand slipping into Luke's as you see him take a step forward out of the corner of your eye. "What do you want?"
"To catch up," Jerry muses. "You left so quickly and didn't tell me where you were going."
"For obvious reasons, you moron."
"Yeah. Read the room, dude. You're not wanted here," Flynn huffs as she steps up on your other side.
Jerry glances at her and his stare leaves you feeling uncomfortable. So to grab his attention once more, you say, "Go home. I have nothing to say to you."
"Aw," he coos, "but I miss you."
"Well she doesn't miss you." Luke's words draw Jerry's attention and you can see his jaw clench in the firelight.
"Ah, yes. The soulmate," he muses. "Tell me, soulmate, does she purr for you like she did for me?"
Your eyes widen just as there are several sharp inhales behind you and you immediately cling onto Luke's arm. "Luke, no!" Alex is on the other side of Luke, pushing his friend back and when it seems like he's got it under control you let go of his arm and step between him and Jerry. Glaring at his smug expression, you say, "No, Jerry, I don't purr with him like I did with you." He chuckles lowly. "Because unlike you, Luke knows how to get me off which is something you never knew how to do. Not even once."
"Oh fuck. She just murdered him," Flynn giggles.
Jerry's smug expression vanishes the moment everyone starts to giggle and before anyone can blink he's swinging his arm so the back of his hand connects with your cheek.
"You motherfucker!"
You go stumbling and it's only because of Julie and Flynn that you don't fall. When you manage to regain your footing, you locate the boys only to find that Willie and Luke are doing their best to whale on Jerry while Alex and Reggie look on, unsure about stopping the fight or not. Willie lets Luke throw most of the punches, though when Jerry lands one on Luke he's quick to reach in and make sure Jerry doesn't overcome his friend.
"Flynn, call the police department. Ask for Officer Diaz and tell her my name. Tell her Jerry's found me and he attacked me."
"Okay."
"Julie," you then turn towards your little cousin. "Call your mom and dad. They need to be here."
"Okay."
Stumbling towards the boys, you shout, "Stop. Guys, stop!" Alex is quick to come to your side, tucking you under his arm. "Luke!" You then yell.
With his hand fisted in a completely dazed Jerry's shirt, he stops mid-swing and glances at you. "Please stop. Flynn is calling the cops. You can stop now."
He's got a split lip and his body is still taut with anger, but upon seeing your expression he's quick to let Jerry go. Jerry stumbles as he regains his stability, but then Willie is there to make sure he goes nowhere.
As Luke stops right in front of you, he gently cups your face in his hands and his anguished expression makes your heart break. "He hit you."
"I know," you frown, "and he's going to pay for it."
You close your eyes as Luke presses his lips to your forehead, his lips lingering there as he mumbles apology after apology.
"How cute," Jerry chuckles darkly.
"Laugh it up now, asshole," Flynn says. "The cops are on the way."
You and Luke separate just as Jerry spits out a glob of blood, sneering at Luke. "You might have her now, Lukie boy, but how does it feel to know I had her first?"
Luke tries to lunge, but Alex is quick to catch him. Instead you stumble forward, gaze never leaving Jerry's. "Don't look so smug, Jer. You're the pretend soulmate who only had me for not even a fraction of your lifetime. But Luke? Luke gets me over and over and over for the rest of his life." Jerry's expression falters, but before he can think to hit you again it's you who forms a fist and hits him square between the eyes.
"Fuck," he grits out, stumbling into Willie.
"FUCK!" You shout, pain instantly blossoming in your hand. Not even shaking it out helps.
"Hey. Hey, let me see."
"Don't touch it!" You scream at Luke.
He chuckles as he gently grabs a hold of your wrist, running his fingers softly over your knuckles. "I think you might have broken it."
"Worth it."
Jerry tries to struggle some more in order to get away, but Willie and Reggie do a good job of keeping him in place. And if they had failed, he wouldn't have gotten far because Nick and his band of jocks had appeared out of the dark after being led over by Carrie.
Rose and Ray appear first, Ray immediately getting the story from the boys while Rose fusses over you and your bruised face. Then the second red and blue lights start flashing, the crowd disperses and leaves your original group alone with Jerry.
Immediately Jerry tries to spin the tale that your boys jumped him, but fortunately for you Officer Diaz and her partner are the ones taking your statement. They grab yours first and upon seeing your face they take a picture of it to put on file. You ask them about what's going to happen to Luke and Willie for defending you when Jerry attacked, and they unfortunately tell you that they might actually be taken in since they threw the first punch against him.
After a few more statements are taken, Luke and Willie are surprisingly let go with a warning. Turns out Luke hadn't thrown the first punch, he just pushed Jerry away from you, and Jerry went on the attack first. Luke's assault was categorized as self defense and Willie smartly kept his knuckles hidden while mentioning he was only standing by trying to separate the brawling boys. Officiate Diaz and her partner obviously knew it was a load of shit, but they wanted to get Jerry off the streets more than they wanted to arrest Willie for defending his friend.
Then once Jerry is taken away, Ray suggests you all call it a night. He helps put the fire out while Rose helps everyone else load up Willie's van, and then they mention they'll meet you at home. On the way there, Luke calls his parents to let them know what happened and that he'd be back home the following evening in time for school. You can hear his mom express her concern for you and her hopes that you feel better soon, and then she goes on to tell him that she loves him and that she's sorry for their argument. Luke chokes up while he's on the phone, but thankfully everyone else attempts to make small talk to give him a semblance of privacy.
Willie drops off you, Luke, and Julie first, and you apologize for ruining the night.
"Are you kidding me?" Reggie scoffs. "Tonight was wicked fun! You're lucky you already found your soulmate because that punch was hot."
Luke chuckles. "You're an idiot, Reg."
You glance at Willie and he beams at you. "Don't even sweat it. Tonight was totally fun, brawl included. I just hope the charges stick and that jerk doesn't bother you anymore."
"You and me both," you muse. "Now go on. Get out of here and let Alex kiss your knuckles all better."
Alex groans as his soulmate laughs, and the three of you wave at the van as it disappears down the road.
Then as you're walking up the sidewalk leading to the porch, Julie says, "I love you guys, but can we please never get into a public altercation ever again?"
You laugh as you swat at her, only to hiss in pain when you hit her with your injured hand. "Goddamn it that hurt. I think the adrenaline finally faded," you say as you cradle your hand to your chest.
Luke wraps his arm around your shoulders, tucking you into his side. "We'll have Rose check it out and if she thinks you need a doctor, we'll head down to the ER."
"I'm gonna need a cast, I just know it," you mumble.
As the three of you come to a stop on the porch, Julie turns towards you and says, "Maybe next time you'll think about throwing a punch before you actually know how to throw a punch. You're not supposed to tuck your thumb in."
"Yeah? Well maybe you should let me practice on your face!"
"Okay!" Luke laughs, pulling you a step back from a now laughing Julie. "A Y/N in pain is a mean Y/N. Duly noted."
You glare at Julie a little longer before your façade cracks and then you whine as you lean into Luke once more. "Will you hold my hand in the ER?"
"Sure thing, babe. Ready to have Ray and Rose yell at us before they realize your hand might be broken and need medical attention?"
"Nope, but we gotta go inside sometime."
"Together?"
"Together."
"Ugh," Julie scoffs. "You guys are too adorable for your own good."

// Day 6 //
// Fame //
Tikki was pissed. Her holder had been bullied mercilessly by Lila and due to the spell cast, her Ladybug's friends can't see it.
If only she could cause the lies to backfire.
Of course!
…..
Lila giggled as the swarm of admirers asked her for another story.
"Oh. I have this story about this family from Gotham. You probably haven't heard of them, but they're a big deal over there. The Waynes. I even dated one of them. Tom."
Marinette rolled her eyes. Of course she'd go for Gotham socialites, just before the class heads to America.
"Oh it's such a shame that you can't see them on the trip."
Their class had been planning this trip for months. They raised enough money to spend a few days in a city and two or three towns. One of the cities that were excluded due to budget was Gotham. But this was so very convenient to Lila.
"Actually," a mischievous voice piped up, "Daddy graciously agreed to match the money we raised and double it. Just so we won't miss out on anything America has to offer. So we will be able to go to Gotham."
A few of the girls in the class smiled.
"That's so kind of you and your dad, Chloé," Lila said, "But we wouldn't want to be abusing your friendship."
Marinette laughed slightly as Chloé's shark grin widened, "Oh it's no problem. I've changed for the better now! And what's a better way to prove it than providing for our class. I mean Marinette does so much for this class, what's a little money?"
…..
As it turns out, the 'little money' was not little. At all.
Chloé's dad didn't just match and double the money raised. Adrien's dad added to the pile, too! Although probably not out of devotion to his son, more like devotion to not being shown up by André Bourgeois of all people. The class itself raised over a thousand more than they needed to, anyway.
Now the class budget for visiting America was worth over 10 times as much and both Bourgeois and Agreste had to be asked to stop giving money, because Marinette couldn't think of any other activities or places for the class and they couldn't reasonably spend that much.
…..
The day after summer break started, the class arrived at the airport, ready to get their trip started.
The only problem was that Marinette's ticket was missing. The whole class looked for it everywhere. Only for Rose to find it ripped up in the bin.
"Oh dear, Marinette," Lila said, feigning innocence, "It looks like you can't come!"
Alya rubbed her friends back in comfort, "Don't worry, girl. We'll figure something out!"
…..
In fact, they did figure something out. Mlle. Mendeleiev explained the situation to the front desk.
"I'm sorry ma'am, unfortunately we can't reissue you the ticket for the same seat. But there is a seat in first class free. We can upgrade Mlle. Dupain-Cheng."
Marinette scratched her neck, "I don't know. That sounds expensive."
Adrien and Chloé met each others eyes, a silent agreement was made between the two ever since Lila's spell broke. To help Marinette whenever they can.
He walked forward, "Don't worry. I'll pay."
Marinette scrunched her eyebrows, "Adrien, no! That's too much"
The lady at the front desk grinned, "No need to worry, sir. The airline will provide the seat free of charge. Have a good day!"
…..
As the class boarded the plane, Lila feigned ear pain.
"Mlle. Mendeleiev! I'm having a tremendous earache! Maybe sitting in first class will help? They have hot towels."
The teacher looked alarmed, "Lila if you have an ear infection, it can be dangerous to fly. You could burst an eardrum! Maybe you should stay here and fly out when you're better."
Lila's eyes widened, "Oh, never mind! My mind must be playing tricks!"
…..
The class landed in LA and collected their bags from the carousel. Except Marinette.
Lila, once again, faked concern, "Oh Marinette! All your clothes are gone!"
Chloé grinned, "No worries, Marinette can borrow some of mine until she figures something else out."
Alya nodded, "Mine too!"
There was a chorus of agreement from the girls (and from Kim who wasn't listening but still agreed when he realised what was happening).
Marinette smiled kindly, "It's fine guys! I appreciate the offers but that was just my night bag! I sent my bags ahead just in case something like this happened. There were only old pyjamas and a few toiletries in there."
Lila let out a low growl that nobody noticed. Except for a little red bug rat who's mischievous grin spread wide.
…..
When they reached the hotel, the class looked around in awe of the fanciness.
Marinette collected the room keys and assigned rooms to everyone, making sure to hand the Los Angeles itineraries out as well.
"Feel free to get something to eat before going to bed and meet here at 8am.
…..
Marinette woke up feeling refreshed, she checked her phone and found it was only 6am local time.
"Hmm, I'm never up this early. Must be luck!"
She opened her door to see if anyone else was awake, but on the floor outside were her suitcases.
"Oh, how fortunate! The hotel must have sent them up a few hours early."
…..
Lila looked all over the lobby, feigning concern, "Oh, it looks like Marinette isn't here. Maybe we should go ahead without her. She's probably sleeping in. You know our Marinette."
Suddenly, the automatic doors of the lobby opened to reveal Marinette carrying a coffee and wearing some of the most stylish clothes Lila had ever seen.
Her eye twitched.
…..
The class was about to climb off the bus before Marinette stopped them with an announcement.
"Okay, everyone. I need you all to listen because this is very, very important. Today we'll be visiting many attractions, including a tour of some of the studios. I tried to get tours of places that will interest at least one person. Please remember that these are places of business even if it doesn't seem like it with all the costumes and acting."
…..
Lila couldn't believe her misfortune. None of her attempts to hurt Dupain-Cheng have worked and some have even backfired right back on her.
She tried to push Marinette onto the set of a show filming live. But she just tripped herself and had to face the humility she tried to subject Marinette to.
She couldn't even pin the blame on Marinette because there were cameras pointed at the audience and if they checked they would see her failed attempt.
Lila couldn't have that.
…..
A few days later, the class packed up and headed to Anaheim, so they could spend a few days in Disneyland before heading to the next state.
The result was not great for Lila.
…..
"Oh thank you, Marinette, for saving my space, you can go now."
Marinette's face scrunched up and Adrien and Chloé were about to pounce.
But someone else bet them to the punch.
"Um… Excuse me, miss."
Lila turned around only to be met with a hair bob.
"There aren't any cuts allowed."
Lila smiled beautifully at the woman, "Oh my friend was saving this space for me."
The woman didn't look impressed, "No, cuts. Do I need to get an employee over here? I've been waiting in this line for three fricken hours, because my kid didn't wanna go on the Teacups, if I have to wait three hours to get on the Tower of Terror. So do you."
Lila was pushed out of the line by the Karen.
…..
While on the bus to Arizona, Lila got herself thinking.
'Why are my attempts of ruining Marinette, not working? Am I losing my touch?'
…..
For the next few weeks, the class had the trip of a lifetime. They visited many attractions, including the Grand Canyon, the Kennedy Space Centre and they saw alligators in Louisiana.
The class were delighted to learn that even though the road trip portion of their trip was over they still had a lot left.
They flew up to Massachusetts and spent a few days visiting tourist sites in Boston, whilst others took college tours.
Everyone was excited to visit their colleges of choice and luckily Marinette was able to arrange for train and bus tickets for day trips for anyone who wanted to visit any colleges in the second part of the trip.
Lila made it her mission to take up Marinette's offer whenever possible, just to slightly inconvenience her, but no matter what Marinette seemed happy to help. It infuriated Lila.
Every time she'd get off a bus or train, Lila would walk around the town, shopping, instead of going to colleges.
…..
Soon, the class arrived in Gotham, Lila was worried.
For some reason, people would pass by Marinette and ask for selfies, which greatly confused the class before Max found out that MDC was very famous and popular in Gotham. Apparently, the Wayne's were big fans of MDC's work and they owned several originals. Unfortunately, for Lila they were also the family she lied about and they had a connection to Marinette, her one rival.
"Oh Marinette, isn't that swell! I did mention you in passing to Tom, but he must have looked you up and liked your work!"
She knew that the likelihood of running into a Wayne was low, so she had no problem lying. But, on the day Marinette announced to the class that she and the entire class was invited to the Wayne Gala, Lila felt a pit in her stomach.
…..
Luckily for Marinette, her fame in the city got her some discounts in fabric and supply stores, so she was very easily able to get what she needed for her friends outfits.
The class was supposed to be in Gotham for a month in order to attend some summer classes in Gotham University, so Marinette (who only signed up for 3 classes) was able to get a lot done.
In fact, by the time the Gala came around she had all the outfits ready.
She made everyone an outfit.
A bouncy pink dress for Rose and an elegant but dark coloured dress for Juleka. For Alix, she made a suit that would match her favourite sneakers.
Alya had a high-necked burnt orange dress that went to her knees, whilst Chloé's high-low amber dress brought out her eyes.
Sabrina had a purple two-piece and Myléne had a green floor-length dress.
For the boys she made suits with their own flare, to avoid a uniform look.
She even made Lila a dress, but the girl refused to wear it in favour of a dress she bought during one of her 'college tours'.
…..
"My father will be furious when he learns that I went to a Wayne party in clothes that he didn't make," Adrien joked with Marinette and Chloé.
Lila let a shark grin take over, "Oh, Adrien, you shouldn't let Marinette get you in trouble. They're only clothes. Maybe you should change. Maybe we should all change, just in case."
Adrien shook his head whilst waving Chloé off, "No, Lila. I was only joking."
(For once, Lila was right. Gabriel was furious that his clothes didn't get into a Wayne party but a teenage girl's did. But it wasn't like he could do anything about it, while they were in America)
…..
When the class exited their stretch limo. The paparazzi outside the Manor ooh'd at their clothes. Lila decided to go last just so her outfit can have the most climactic admiration.
When Marinette stepped out, wearing a navy halter high-low with sparkly stones sewn in a way that emulated the night sky, the crowd shushed.
Marinette was about to hide her face in embarrassment, 'They don't like my dress.'
Suddenly, the crowd broke into whispers of curiosity and admiration.
"Look at her dress. It's gorgeous."
"Is that an MDC original?"
"Is that MDC herself?"
Lila smiled, 'If these guys think her dress is nice. Wait till they see mine.'
She stepped out and, well, it was anticlimactic.
The praise slowed and turned into more of a polite murmur.
"Oh her dress is… nice."
Her dress was a grey spaghetti strap that went to her knees. It was actually a nice dress but it was not formal at all and made Lila stick out like a sore thumb.
'I should have just taken Dupain-Cheng' s stupid dress.'
…..
As the class entered the Manor, they were greeted by a young man, who Marinette and Chloé both recognised from their Business class in Gotham U.
"Tim? I didn't know you'd be here?"
Tim laughed gently, "Well, it's kind of my family's party so I have to be here. Trust me I'd rather be anywhere else."
Chloé smirked, "Oh, you're a Wayne? Lila here, used to date one of you. Tom was it, Lila?"
Lila shrunk back, "Oh no! You must have misheard me. I never said I dated a Wayne."
"Yes, you did."
Everyone turned to look at Max, "I have an eidetic memory and you definitely said, and I quote, 'I have this story about this family from Gotham. You probably haven't heard of them, but they're a big deal over there. The Waynes. I even dated one of them. Tom'."
Tim scrunched his eyebrows together in confusion, "Well actually that's a coincidence, I also have an eidetic memory and we don't have a Tom. We have a Tim, and that's me. And I've never dated a Lila."
The class had varying facial expressions, but all of them had one emotion in common. Hurt.
Rose gently pushed out, "Were you… Lying to us, Lila?"
"No, I-I wasn't, I just-"
Alya almost cried, "I almost cost my whole journalistic career for you! Marinette stopped me from posting about you onto the Ladyblog. If she wasn't there, I would be ruined!"
The class all came to their own realisations.
"If Marinette didn't send off my application, instead of letting me rely on you--"
"If she didn't push us to continue--"
"Marinette knew and we didn't believe her," Nino said, "I'm very sorry, Marinette."
"Me too!"
"Same."
"Yeah."
She smiled at them graciously, "It's alright, guys! You learnt in the end and you didn't know any better."
Lila looked around frantically, "Why isn't the spell working? It should be working!"
"Spell?"
Alya walked forward, "Lila, what spell?"
Chloé spoke up, "She was given the power to make anyone believe her lies, unless they have been given undeniable proof."
The class looked at her in confusion.
"Hey, I actually knew Ladybug, remember! Unlike her."
…..
Tim sat beside Marinette, "So…"
"My classmate has been lying about famous people including your family for years?"
"And…"
"She keeps her victims under a spell, so they can't learn the truth."
"... Ladybug?"
Marinette grinned, "One of our superheroes. Chloé used to be one and revealed her identity. She isn't anymore."
His face was scrunched in confusion, "You know, Gotham is really fucking weird but I've never heard anything like that."
"Eidetic memory?"
Tim sighed, "I am technically, kind of, very much knowledgeable on… Things."
She smirked, " 'Things'. Timothy you are so very specific," She teased, "I don't even need you to clarify."
He knocked her shoulder against hers, "I've been meaning to ask…"
"Oh more than usual?"
"Wipe that shit-eating grin off your face, Marinette. I wanted to ask you if you wanted to dance."
He held out his hand.
Gently she took it, "I'd love to!"
Tim looked down at Marinette's dress, "Is that an MDC original? I love her work! Where did you get it?"
Marinette deadpanned, "What are my initials Tim."
"... OH!"
"Do you not have Twitter? People have been tagging me all month."
Tim smiled sheepishly, "Okay to be fair, I'm a dumbass and my pregame to any events like this is to drink a shit ton of coffee every day for a month."
A man who very obviously knew Tim walked by and looked at him incredulously, "Tim, that's your pregame to waking up every morning!"
Tim glared at him, "Fuck off, Jason!"

Tumblr media
The sound of Jungkook's alarm blaring out made you smirk to yourself, he always struggled waking up in the mornings and this was the sixth time in a row his alarm would be going off. You got up from the sofa placing the book you were reading down onto the coffee table and walked into the kitchen to go and pour him his morning coffee. Jungkook would need it if he was going to make it through the day and so would everyone else who would be around him, he was never a morning person. Every morning was the same with him though Jungkook would wakeup late no matter what before rushing around the house to get ready. Screaming out whenever he couldn't find anything that he needed for the day which was why you made sure you knew where everything was for him.
"Baby have you seen my-" He went to call out but you cut him off,
"On the bathroom door, steamed and ready for you to wear." You called up the stairs as you heard him fumbling around hunting for his tie that went with his suit, Monday mornings were always the worst cause he didn't know where all the fresh items were. He shouted out a thank you before finishing his morning routine and you shook your head going back to making him something to eat.
Tumblr media
By the time he came downstairs fully clothed you had a to-go breakfast ready with his coffee in a travel mug for him, he kissed your forehead as an unspoken thank you.
"What would I do without you?" He complimented as he took everything from you and began walking out of the front door, you stared down at the coffee table in the living room and shook your head. Sitting there were his car keys which he also needed to get into the office,
"Keys!" You cried out as you rushed over to the front door, carrying his car keys in your hand, you leant against the door frame waiting for him to turn around. He turned to face you and you held them above your head shaking them a little as you puckered up your lips for him.
"You can have them if you give me a real kiss," You giggled to him as he walked back over to you shaking his head as he watched you closely,
"Honestly, what would I do without you?" He groaned out in satisfaction putting his coffee and food down onto the table that was just inside the porch. You smirked to yourself as you brought the keys down from above your head and waited for him to kiss you,
"Probably waste away to nothing, never look presentable and be late to everything." You teased as he smirked at you shaking his head but humming along in agreement as he wrapped his arms around your waist.
"It's the truth, you'd be nothing without me, probably just never show up to work-" He cut you off with a short and passionate kiss no matter how often it happened it still made you feel as though you were floating on a cloud. Smiling to himself he pulled away and grabbed his things from behind you, kissing your forehead as he turned to leave.
"I'll see you after work, I'll make sure dinner is ready." You leant against the doorframe watching him leave but he turned to look at you at the last second shaking his head,
"I'll be working late tonight. Jimin and Taehyung have some reports to finish and I said I'd help out...Being the kind and generous CEO I am." He winked at you as he got into the black car, placing his food onto the dash and drink into the cupholder.
"I'll keep you some in the oven then, you can warm it up when you get back home." You blew him a kiss and he pretended to catch it and place it in his pocket for later, you rolled your eyes at him he was always childish like this with you.
"Bye loser!" You called out before shutting the front door and turning to look around the house for something to do, you had some time off from work so you had to figure out something to do. Jungkook had around the clock maids to work in his huge house so there was no way you could clean up anything. There were still boxes from your old apartment that you hadn't unpacked yet so you decided to go and unpack them. Jungkook and yourself had been together for the last four years but you'd only just recently moved in with him since your lease was finally up. He asked you before but you'd never done it because of the lease, you turned towards the staircase and a voice filled the air.
"Do you want anything to eat? I can make you something before I clean the kitchen up." One of the maids - Miss Sana -  questioned as she watched you heading towards the spare office Jungkook had set up for you. It was a workspace away from work so you could still get everything you needed to do done,
"No, it's okay. Thank you though." You whispered to her as you began walking into the office, trying not to seem rude to her. She was one of the loveliest girl's you'd met but having someone run around after you, was still something you found odd. Jungkook was used to having people work for him but, all of it was still new to you having someone make your bed for you, clean everything for you. They'd offer to make you and Jungkook meals but you always refused, wanting him to have a homecooked meal from you.
"If you need anything please call me on the intercom," She called out to you just before you shut the door, leaning back on the door you looked around at all of the boxes at least all of them were labelled making it easier for you. It was mostly all of your work things that needed to be moved in. Things that would be going around the office like photographs, folders and other stationery items you had.
Tumblr media
"Miss Y/l/n?" The same maid from the morning questioned when you pressed the intercom, she found it odd since you hardly used it unless Jungkook was at home and you were trying to find it.
"Hi, I just tried to get into Jungkook's office but it's locked. Do you by chance, have a key?" You questioned as you spoke into the machine, it felt weird to be talking to someone halfway across the house you hated doing it when Jungkook was here but in a house this big it was needed. Especially when he would leave his phone in a different room.
"I don't, I can call Mr Jeon if you like?" Her voice came out soothing,
"No it's okay, I'll call him." You stopped the intercom before phoning Jungkook's main office. He should have been on his lunch by now so it was no big deal for you to call him and for him to answer. Not that it would be a big deal anyway, he owned the business and could do what he wanted with it.
"Baby? Is something wrong?" He questioned, answering the call after just four rings,
"I was just wondering where the keys for your office are? I have a photograph I want to put on your desk." You laughed softly looking at the frame it was from your first date together. A collage of photographs all put together inside of the frame, Jungkook hushed someone on the other end of the phone and you frowned.
"It's locked baby, I have the only key. I'm sorry." There was a giggle from the other end of the call that wasn't from him or the boys, you swallowed the lump in your throat as you tried not to overthink things. It was probably just nothing.
"Oh...Okay, I'll leave it out and you can put it in when you get home? How are the reports coming along?" You questioned him as you waited for some kind of response but it sounded as though he was stalling as he thought of something to say to you.
"They're good, t-the boys are just inside the office with me," You knew for a fact he was lying he stuttered which was one of the dead giveaways that Jungkook was lying to you, that and you heard a female giggle so you knew it wasn't the boys.
"That's great. I erm, I'm going to leave you to it." You hung up quickly not wanting to overthink it anymore and Jungkook frowned looking at the phone on his desk. Jungkook knew you'd been cheated on the past and promised he would never do that to you, you were probably just overthinking everything. His assistant was probably inside the room with the rest of them. At least that was what you were trying to tell yourself.
Tumblr media
That night you didn't see Jungkook come home you headed to bed around 10 pm after not getting any responses from his mobile or office phone, you figured he was busy with the boys. You left a small note on the kitchen door telling him how to warm his food up and headed up to bed but this morning there was no sign of him.  Normally you would wake up being cuddled by him but today there was nothing, the sheets were freezing as though he hadn't been home all night and his PJ's were in the same spot as the day before.
"Guk?" You called out when you heard the floorboards outside the bedroom door creak you were feeling hopeful that he'd just gotten up on time,
"N-No Ma'am, it's me." You sighed before dismissing the maid and laid back down against the sheets and stared up at the ceiling wondering if he'd even been home. Usually, you'd wake up before him or when his first alarm sounded but this morning there was nothing, no sign he'd even been home yet.
Tumblr media
Heading into the kitchen the same note was on the door of the kitchen and his food was still in the oven yet another sign he hadn't been home all night.
"Miss Sana?" You called out to the maid who had just walked by the kitchen door, she turned to look at you with a small smile on her face.
"Did Jungkook come home last night? I-I cooked for him but he hasn't eaten it..." The maid looked over at the oven and then at you before shaking her head, you could tell by the look on her face that she wasn't sure about telling you about something.
"He was working late, called to tell me to not let you worry. He stayed at the office." Your mouth formed an 'O' shape at the thought of him being locked up in his office all night and day today. It couldn't have been good for him to spend the night on that sofa, you'd spent some time there and it wasn't exactly the comfiest of places.
"I'll take him some lunch later, and some fresh clothes. I hate the thought of him being all stuffy in his work outfit," You tried to seem hopeful and not worried that something was going on behind your back but it was hard when every sign pointed at that there was.
Tumblr media
As you strolled onto the top floor of the office building you were stooped by four of Jungkook's employees, all of them asking what you were doing there and how you were doing. Jimin even rushed up to you to see what you had in the small basket in your hands,
"Lunch for Jungkook...He was here all night so I figured he could use some homemade food instead of that junk you get him," You teased poking Jimin's chest as you continued walking in the direction of the main glass office. Jungkook was sitting at his desk with a huge smile on his face as someone sat across from him made him laugh at something.
"Who's he with?" You questioned the assistant who was watching you nervously,
"It's-" The door to his office opened and he walked out,
"I'll call you later- Babe?" He stopped staring at the beautiful woman beside him and looked at you, the smile on his lips fading instantly as soon as he saw you standing there.
"Hi. I-I bought you some lunch?" You gestured to the basket in your hand and he sent you a weak smile,
"Go sit in my office, I was just walking Miss Jackson out." You nodded as you switched places with him and the woman, smiling at her but she avoided your gaze before walking off down the hallways. Jimin stared at you through the glass office and you bit down on your lip, it felt as though everyone knew something except for you so you placed the basket down on the desk and waited for Jungkook to come back to you.
Tumblr media
"Sorry baby, hi," Jungkook whispered as he walked into the office again rushing over to you and bringing you into a hug but you placed your hands on his chest.
"I brought you some food and clothes, S-Sanna said you didn't come home," The original plan was to eat with him but after seeing people stare at you through the glass while you waited for him to come back you didn't want to sit there much longer.
"You're not eating with me?" He frowned looking in the basket at everything inside, he could tell it wasn't just meant for him.
"You and the boys should eat it while you work on the reports, are you coming home tonight?" He nodded at your question, he knew something was wrong with you but he wasn't going to press you for information here. He could wait until he got home later to see what it was that was really bothering you,
"I'll see you later," You turned your back on him to leave but Jungkook took your wrist in his grasp and pulled you back to him. You were standing between his legs while he rested on the desk looking into your eyes, he reached up to cup your face in his hands.
"I'll see you when I'm home. I'm not working late tonight," You snuggled into his touch trying to ignore the pit inside of your stomach that something was wrong, it was clear there wasn't when Jungkook was with you.
"You'll be home at the normal time?" You quizzed looking over your shoulder to see Jimin was still watching you both,
"Yeah, the reports are finished. I'll see you later," He pulled your face to look at him and kissed your lips softly, you instantly relaxed against him and kissed him back. Pushing your hands into his hair as you relaxed into the kiss.
"See you tonight," You whispered to him before leaving him in the office and heading home for the night.
Tumblr media
"Oh! Here," You called out as you rushed over to Miss Jackson as she scrambled to pick up something that fell from her bag,
"Thank you." She whispered as you reached under her car to grab the small navy blue box,
"No problem," As you looked up at her she seemed to panic, snatching the box out of your grasp and shoving it into her handbag.
"I have to go. Bye!" She yelled out, slamming her car door as she rushed to get away from you, you frowned watching her speed out of the parking lot but tried not to put too much thought into it as you headed home for the day.
Tumblr media
The next morning you straddled Jungkook's lap as you waited for him to wake up, he was on his first alarm so you figured it would be nice to wake up in his arms this time.
"Morning baby," You cooed in his ear, biting down on it softly as you waited for him to wake up.
"Morning," He grumbled as he heard his second alarm beginning to ring, you reached out to shut it off for him but he slammed his hand down quickly on the phone and turned it over so the screen couldn't be seen.
"Baby relax, I was just going to turn the alarm off." You giggled but he opened the drawer and slid his phone into it, wrapping his arms around you as he turned you over to lay on the bed.
"Fifteen more minutes," He moaned out but you wriggled under his grasp, tickling his sides as a form of trying to get him to wake up.
"You'll be late if we have fifteen more minutes, come and shower." You whispered to him in a seducing tone but he didn't move,
"Kookie," You whined out to him about to ask him to join you again when his phone began to ring this time.
"Who's that? It's too early for someone to be calling you." You mumbled to him, reaching out but he shook his head.
"Leave it. It's nothing. Go have some breakfast." He slid out from the bed, grabbing his phone before he grumpily made his way into the bathroom without you. Your invitation to shower together going completely unnoticed by him, you sighed to yourself before getting up to change into something for the day.
Tumblr media
Jungkook came down the stairs half an hour later rushing around, as usual, you gave him his drink and breakfast and he left without a kiss or goodbye.
"Mr Kim Namjoon is driving him around today, he isn't in the office," Sana said as she noticed the look of confusion written across your face but it only made you question it more, why had he told Sana where he was going and not you?
"I'm going out for a drive," You mumbled as you watched the car Jungkook was being driven around in pull out of the drive and head in the opposite direction of his office building.
"Miss Y/n? You're going to need something to eat!" Sana stopped talking when the front door slammed and she saw your car backing out of the garage. There was nothing she could do to stop you so she wasn't going to.
You'd followed behind Jungkook's car all morning keeping your distance, of course, you didn't want him to see you in case he thought you were going insane but he was in town. He hadn't gone into work at all, Jungkook and Namjoon were walking through the streets of Seoul while he hunted for something. Stopping at a book store, then a flower store and then a chocolate shop.
"What is he doing?" You whispered to yourself as you watched Jungkook sit down inside the chocolate shop, Namjoon glanced out of the window so you quickly hid behind a man carrying a basket.
"Sir, your girlfriend seems to be following us," Jungkook smirked to himself as he picked out the perfect chocolates followed by a box,
"I know, just keep acting as though we don't see her." He chuckled to Namjoon who just shook his head. Jungkook knew you'd been following him from the moment he got into the city, he'd seen you trying to sneak around behind them but you weren't all that good at being a spy.
"I have something planned, just let me lose her in my own time." Jungkook laughed to Namjoon who nodded along.
Tumblr media
An hour passed after Jungkook left the chocolate shop and you lost him in one of the largest crowds you'd ever seen, they were all grouping around some music shop and you couldn't see him anymore.
"Fuck," You whispered as you sat down on a bench in front of the Han River, you knew it was probably insane for you to be following your boyfriend around but you wanted to know what he was doing behind your back.
"Y'know, you wouldn't be a good spy," You jumped up when you heard Jungkook's voice come from seemingly nowhere, you turned around to see him standing behind the bench holding everything he'd bought that day.
"I don't know what you're talking about, I came out for a jog." You lied as you looked away from him not wanting to feel ashamed of following him around, he sighed as he walked around the side of the bench to join you.
"You came out for a jog in this?" He touched the jumper you were wearing, it was one of the most expensive items of clothing you owned and you groaned at him feeling disgusted in yourself,
"I-I was worried you were out with someone else-"
"Like Miss Jackson?" You groaned as he let out a small chuckle at the look on your face as you nodded,
"Don't laugh, it's not funny...I-I look creepy following you around." He shook his head at you and wrapped his arm around your shoulder as he smiled,
"I thought it was cute, but you were kind of right. I did go to see Miss Jackson today," He handed you the box of chocolates and then the flowers.
"I didn't want to do this here but the plan I had wasn't going to work either," He was started to stumble and stutter over his words as he reached into his pocket and pulled out the box you'd gotten for Miss Jackson yesterday.
"Jungkook..." You whispered slowly as you stared down at the box, he was throwing it between each hand as he smiled at you.
"W-We can do this again, somewhere I can ask you properly but hiding this from you has been killing me this week." He told you as he bit down on his lip,
"I wasn't working late on Monday, I was working on this-" He held the box up in front of your face and you frowned wondering what it was.
"Remember, I'll ask this again properly later but Y/n Y/l/n will you do me the honour of marrying me?" The box flipped open to reveal the ring that Jungokook had been working so hard on all week long. It was a silver band with your birthstone as the diamond, he'd heard you speaking about your dream engagement ring before and wanted to make sure he got it all right.
"K-Kookie," You teared up as you stared up at him, he was tearing up as he looked at you,
"I love you. I want you to be mine for the rest of our lives," He whispered to you,
"Yes! Thousand times yes," You cried out as you wrapped your arms around his body and hugged him tightly, snuggling your head into his neck and sobbing as you agreed to marry him. He chuckled as he held onto you tightly,
"I'll do it again in a real setting-" He stopped talking when you shook your head and kissed his lips,
"You don't have to, this...This is perfect," You whispered to him as you looked into his eyes, he smirked slipping the ring out of the box before he placed it onto your finger.
"This is excellent," You repeated as you looked at the ring which was sitting on your finger perfectly,
"I love you," He whispered as he leant forward to kiss you, neither of you noticing the fact that a small group of people were clapping and congratulating you both on your future together.

hey guys! once i read a fanfic about the Sgt. Pepper launch party but i never found it again! so i just made my own version, based on what i remember from that other story and adding some things to the plot as well. if you wrote the original version, i'd love to read it again!
so here's my first paul mccartney x reader fic, hope you enjoy!
-----------
Abbey Road Studios, 9 am.
You and Paul have been seeing each other for quite a while now. You got along pretty well, but he never properly asked you to be his girlfriend. It never really bothered you, you don't really cared about labels. You knew he really like you and you liked him too, so what was to worry?
You worked near Abbey Road so sometimes you'd hang around the studio with Paul before the other guys came around, playing some tunes and enjoying each others company for a bit longer before you two had to work. They were working on their next album, Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band, finishing up some songs. Paul had been really tense lately, worried about the album and being really bossy with the guys.
Paul headed straight to the piano. You sat in front of him and grabbed his left handed guitar and started playing with him. The fact that you were left handed as well was a perfect excuse to play his beautiful guitars. You two started playing some little tunes and some improvisation as well. Some time later, the door opened and John came in dancing to the song you were playing.
"Oh, what a nice surprise!", he greeted you, "She can even play with you! Are you replacing me, McCartney? After all these years?", he said joking, sounding like he had just been cheated on.
"Mornin! You don't have to worry, he's all yours Johnny boy!" you laughed at him.
Paul blushed his cheeks and kept playing the piano, while John started tuning his own guitar. George and Ringo came right along.
"I guess we have a new guitarist!", George said jokingly, "Can I go home then?"
You laughed and smiled at the man. "Hey, Geo. Good morning!"
"Good morning, kiddo", said George giving you a kiss on the forehead.
"Good mornin, love", said Ringo as he pets your head kindly messing up your hair and making his way to his drum kit.
"Alright, fellas, I'll just grab some tea and we'll start recording ok? Tune up!", said Paul while leaving the recording room.
You stayed chatting with George and Ringo while John followed Paul out of the room.
"She's a really nice bird, y'know?", he said to Paul.
"Yeah, I really like her", said Paul while looking down to avoid eye contact with John.
"Oh yeah? So why are you being such a bastard? C'mon, man! Ask her hand!", John said teasingly. "Or else... You're gonna lose that girl..." He said jokingly and singing the lyrics to their own song.
John headed back to the recording room, leaving Paul alone with his thoughts. Maybe John was right, he was done messing around with all the girls, he just wanted to settle down. Better than that, he just wanted to settle down with you.
Paul made his way to the recording room and was surprised to not see you playing his guitar anymore.
While the boys chatted, John grabbed his guitar and started playing the chords to "You're Gonna Lose That Girl" in the background.
"Where's y/n?", he asked confused.
"She just left, she was late for work", said George while tuning his guitar.
"Maybe you can catch her if you run, I don't think she left the building yet", said Ringo.
"If you don't treat her right my friend you're gonna find her gone...", John sang laughing teasingly at Paul.
"Oh, fuck off!", he said and made his way to catch you before you left.
Paul ran as fast as he could when he saw your figure just crossing the front door.
"Y/n! Wait!", he ran to you and managed to grab your hand.
"Oh, hi Paul. I'm sorry I didn't kiss you goodbye, I lost track of time and turns out I'm really late", you said surprised that he came after you.
"Don't worry, love. I just wanted to ask if you'd like to come to our album launch party? As a date, I mean", Paul asked you. He didn't think he would be so nervous to ask such a simple question.
"Well, yes! I'd love to, really.", you grinned at him. "I was beginning to wonder when you would ask me out properly", you said teasingly.
Paul laughed. "I know, I've been so stressed lately that I end up not giving you the attention you deserve. I'm sorry. But hey, it's a date! A real date.", he said and gave you a peck on the lips.
"Ok Mr. McCharmly, I'll see you then! And I hope I don't lose my job because of you", you said laughing and made your way to work.
Paul headed back to the studio with a stupid grin on his face. He had it all planned out. The boys were warming up, playing some tunes in the recording room.
"Ok boys, no more joking around, let's record 'Getting Better', shall we?", he said to the boys. Deep down, he knew it was all getting better indeed.
--
Sgt. Pepper launch party, 8pm.
You came into Brian's house and was immediately greeted by George.
"Hi, Y/n! I'm glad you came", he hugged you, "Can I help you get something to drink?"
"Hey, Geo! Yes, please! I'm in real need of a drink tonight. Have you seen Paul?"
"I didn't see him yet. The man has been so crazy lately, how can you deal with him?, he said jokingly.
"I've got some tricks", you answered winking at him. He laughed.
"Good evenin fellas, how are you in this fine night?", John said in a heavy british accent and approached you two. "I see Mr. Bossy is not around." He wrapped an arm around your shoulders.
"I was just asking her how she can handle him like that", said George.
"A kink for dominance, I suppose", John joked. "He really misses you, y'know", John said in your ear.
"I know how moody he's been. I'll look around for him. Thanks, John".
You excused yourself and went looking for Paul. He was outside, a cigarette in his mouth.
"Need fire?", you asked him.
"Y/n! I'm so glad you came!" You could see the relief in his eyes. He hugged you tight.
God, he was tired. You could see he hadn't sleep well for days. You lit his cigarette for him.
"Thank you, ma'am", he said cordially, "So, what do you think?"
"Everyone loved the album, you know that? You can see how jealous Mick Jagger is of your made up band", you joked.
He laughed. Paul was really nervous about the reception the album would have from the public. It really was something new, a concept album, The Beatles not being The Beatles. Maybe an unconscious escape from himself.
The music was loud inside the house and it had just started playing "The Way You Looked Tonight" by Frank Sinatra.
"God, I love this song", you said and started humming along the melody.
"May you concede me this dance?", Paul asked for your hand.
"Yes, sir. But I don't really dance, so don't blame me if I step on your feet".
You took his hand and Paul embraced his arms around your waist, while you put yours arms around his neck and rested your head on his shoulder. He started signing the lyrics to you, right in your ear: "Yes, you're lovely, with your smile so warm. And your cheeks so soft... There is nothing for me but to love you and the way you look tonight".
His voice was calm, he really meant what he sang. You really looked stunning that night with your black dress that suited so well for your body. The moon was bright and made such a beautiful contrast with your eyes.
Paul spinned you around and lead you two to the corner. He pressed you on the wall and looked deeply into your eyes and then to your red lips. He kissed you tenderly, slowly, moving his hands down to your waist. He already knows this path really well, but everytime you're together he explores your body like it's the first time. He just never gets tired of touching every part of your curves. He'd been waiting for this moment for so long, he couldn't wait to be in your arms again. You broke the kiss and started to make a path of kisses to his neck. He was wearing a grey scarf that night.
"Excuse me, sir", you gently untied the knot on his scarf and sucked on the exposed skin of his neck. "So you'll see this mark and remember to call me tomorrow for a next official date."
He laughed to himself. He knew he would never forget that night, the way you looked and the way you danced. And the best was yet to come, you just didn't know yet. He looked deep into your eyes and whispered close to your ear:
"Marry me."

More Than Just A Number
What he do now, was the first thought to cross your mind when Obi-wan requested a meeting with you. As long as you've known Anakin you've learned that he's a magnet for trouble, not that you were any different as a padawan but you were both generals now, there was a time for games and a time to be serious and Anakin couldn't seem to differentiate the two. Although a small smile tugged at the edge of your lips at the thought of seeing a couple of old friends, as you walked into the Jedi temple you were greeted by an overly eager Anakin whisking you into a hug and an annoyed looking Obi-Wan. "Hi Ani, long time no see huh whatcha been up to," you asked as he let you go and smiled his signature cocky grin "well you know stuff" he muttered scratching the back of his neck, "so getting into trouble and causing problems for everyone else?"
A couple of Jedi council members snorted including Obi-Wan, Anakin just crossed his arms "you call it trouble I call it thinking outside the box" he mumbled with a slight hurt look on his face, "it's good to see you [Y/N] but we called you here because we need another general in my absence...also nobody else really wants to work with Anakin" Obi-wan mentioned while rubbing his temples. "Hey" Anakin shouted but you ignored him as Yoda and Obi-wan briefed you on the rest of the situation, "why me though I mean I don't mind but these hundreds of other Jedi" Yoda touched your shoulder as a gentle smile touched his lips." Strong with the force you are, strong like Anakin" and that's how you ended up babysi- working with Anakin, currently you were locked in a tense battle of dejarik waiting for him to make a move. Either way, he was fucked he only had one character left with two hp while you still had three with full hp, if you looked close enough you could see beads of sweat forming on his forehead as he tried to think of a way to outmaneuver you but that wasn't likely, whaling softly he accepted defeat and moved his character forward which proceeded to be pummeled by yours.
Throwing your hands in the air you snapped your fingers and swished your hips in a little victory dance "face it sky guy you'll never beat me in this game", Anakin snorted and crossed his arm "I'll have you know I came very close to winning last round...anyway I have something to attend to" he uttered briskly standing up. "You mean someone" you teased and he blushed softly speedily walking away leaving you to go talk to his precious Padme, ever since you were little kids she was all he could talk about, you remembered the day they met he came back to you shouting 'hey guess what I saw a girl a real girl' you'd given him a pointed look hurt evident on your face. He quickly tried to fix the situation by mumbling how you were a girl but not like a girl girl nonetheless, it hurt your feelings.
This is why to this day you always wear a hooded robe, you were an interesting character to look at since your mom was a twi'lek and your father a zarak most people gawked at you whenever you removed your hood. Walking into the bathroom you splashed your face with cold water before staring at yourself in the mirror, with hesitant fingers you pulled back your crimson hood allowing your lekku to fall freely, two of them draped over your shoulder while the other two hung behind you reaching a trembling hand to the crown of your head you traced one of the jagged horns sprouting from your scalp. They completely circled your head like a mangled crown of sorts, you'd cut them off multiple times before but they just grew back with a vengeance standing taller than before, almost like they were mocking you for your futile attempts. Your hand slowly reached for your saber attached to your hip when you sensed a presence from outside the door, quickly throwing on your hood you dried your face with your sleeves and opened the door, "how may I help you, Captain Rex?"
He stared at you for a second before fixing his posture and saluting you "oh um nothing ma'am general skywalker just sent me to check up on you because you weren't answering your comlink", you stared down at the comlink blinking on your wrist and held in the urge to facepalm you were so lost in thought you didn't hear Ani calling out to you. A soft blush of embarrassment washed over you as you scratched the back of your hood "I can assure you I'm fine Captain Rex" he gave an acute nod before turning to leave, you weren't exactly sure what compelled you to grab him but you reached out and grabbed him. "Sir," he asked questionably looking down at your delicate fingers wrapped tightly around his wrist, you could feel his confusion through the force and your confusion as well, clearing your throat you nodded at the game "fancy a game captain?" He was wearing his mask so you couldn't see his eyes but you could feel his surprise and you didn't even need to use the force to sense it, "me" came his confused voice.
You rolled your eyes and shoved your hands in your pockets "no the wall...of course you", you sensed a slightly joyous aurora oozing from him as he sat down across from you, taking your seat a small smirk touched your lips as you motioned with your hand "you can go the first Captain". Damn. You hadn't expected this much of a challenge usually you'd crush your opponent in under ten-fifteen minutes flat but Rex, was built differently he'd seen through all of your ploys and called all your bluffs holy fuck he might actually beat you. It was your turn to sweat as your fingertips hovered over different characters altogether. You had about fifteen health points to his sixty, you were growing quite frustrated mostly because you couldn't read him.
Part of your strategy was being able to see your opponent's face but he was wearing a helmet, technically he couldn't see your face either but that was an irrelevant factor, "take off your helmet I wanna see the shocked expression on your face when I cream you". He chuckled and it was deep sexy and raspy, "I don't think that's going to help you much general but okay" with one sift motion his helmet was off and neatly placed on the table, you felt your smile flatter as he once again saw through you and your antics but boy was he gorgeous. He had a hard jawline with a small cut etched into the bottom of his chin, two golden orbs pierced your soul reading your every thought before you could make them, his skin was sunkissed and his hair a bright blonde styled in a low buzz cut a small smile formed on his lips as he uttered the words "your move".
You could feel the confidence oozing from him and it irritated you, that's not how you liked your men exhaling a low breath you moved one of your characters, it punched his heavy hitter, and took a critical low leaving it with one hp left. You shifted your [e/c] eye to his with a slight nod letting him know that it was his turn, unable to contain his smile any longer his lips curled into a sinister grin as he worked a combo on your characters ultimately massacring them, your shoulders slumped in defeat as he almost jumped from his seat but composed himself. "Good game Captain" you grouched extending a hand out to him he reached a handout and shook it, his hands were big and warm as they enveloped yours "thank you ma'am better luck next time" he sang in a slightly arrogant tone "you don't have to call me sir or ma'am you know my name is [Y/N] just call me that" you could feel a whole plethora of emotions coming from him joy, pride, confusion and honor he hesitated for a moment before mumbling. "Okay ma'- I mean [Y/N]" he quickly corrected himself as he slowly began to rise from the chair you arched a brow "where are you going?" He looked at you confused as you nodded at the game "it's best out three bitch" he smiled softly and plopped back down "well if you really want to lose that bad I guess" he teased

Oscar: A Drip Coat. It's a coat that has been passed down from generations of how cool and powerful it's dripness level really is.
Oscar: At least that's what Sun and Neptune told me when we left out of the mall today.
Yang: DHFDXCBBXDHMGEBJFHCGNK
Oscar: Uhhhhhhh.....Yang? Is everything alright?
Blake: Don't mind me her. She's just laughing like a complete maniac right now.
Blake: Speaking of which, could you tell Sun and Neptune to join our chat? We have a few choices of words for them.
Oscar: Sure thing.
Blake: Thank you.
Sun Boi and The Great Neptune has Joined the Chat
Sun: Yo!
Neptune: What's happening, ladies?
Blake: Sun, why the hell did you and Neptune made Oscar wear that heavy coat for!?
Weiss: And what kind of stupid nonsense have you two dolts you been putting onto his head!?
Weiss: "Drip Coat" "Dripness Level"!? Explain yourselves right now!
Ruby: Yeah! Is this whole "Dripness" thing is real or......
Neptune: Well, to answer your question, Rubes, yes. Dripness is, in fact, very real.
Sun: And to answer everyone else's questions, we just wanted to see how it looks on the little guy. And maybe have him be a hit with the ladies.
Blake: Yeah? Well, we're ladies and we're more worried about his safety and well-being than being popular.
Weiss: And now we're worry about your influences on him too!
Oscar: Oh, come on, you guys. There's no need to be harsh on them. They're only trying to see how cool I can really be.
Ruby: But we think you're cool and amazing already, Oscar.
Oscar: Wait. Really?
Ruby: Yeah! You're the coolest farm boi we've ever known!~
Oscar: Wow.... Thanks, Ruby. I think all of you are cool and amazing too. In your own way, of course•‿•
Ruby: ( ꈍᴗꈍ)( ꈍᴗꈍ)( ꈍᴗꈍ)( ꈍᴗꈍ)( ꈍᴗꈍ)
Blake: You're too kind ( ꈍᴗꈍ)
Blake: Yang says thank you by the way.
Yang: Love you, farm boi!~ (。•̀ᴗ-)✧
Oscar: Love you too, Yang lol
Sun: See, kiddo? I told you would be a hit with the ladies eventually!
Blake: Sun!
Sun: What? I was only giving him some confidence boost here!
Neptune: Yeah! He definitely earns it in our book.
Oscar: Thanks for the support, guys.
Sun: No problem, bud! (◠‿・)—☆
Weiss: Okay. Compliments aside, you better hope and pray that your parents doesn't see that picture you sent us, young man.
Ruby: Yeaaaaaah.... About that......
Oscar: Oh God. You already sent it them, didn't you?
Ruby: Sorry!
Neptune: Wait. Who's Oscar's parents?
Ruby: Well.................
Vomit Boy, Thunder Thighs, and Master Chief Ren has Joined the Chat
Ren: Oscar, what on heavenly Earth are you wearing?
Jaune: Better question is why are you wearing it in the first place? It's Freaking Hot in Vauco remember!?
Nora: I hope you're not planning on buy it and wearing it around town, young man. The heatwave could easily get you dehydrated and passed out on the streets if you're not careful!
Oscar: Nora, how did you know all of that?
Nora: A mother's love for her babies knows no bounds, sweetie. Plus, I just looked it up on the internet.
Sun: Time-Out! Oscar, you're telling me that Nora's your mom!!???
Oscar: She might as well be......
Nora: Uh correction! I am a mother who loves you very much, Oscar Everlynn Pine!
Oscar: Whatever you say, mom......
Oscar: .....Also I love you too.
Nora: ( ꈍᴗꈍ)( ꈍᴗꈍ)( ꈍᴗꈍ)
Neptune: Awwwwwwww~
Nora: Sun. Neptune.
Neptune: Uhhhhhh......
Sun: I'm.....guessing by bold fonts of our names that she's.... not too happy with us, is she?
Jaune: Yep.
Ren: Pretty much.
Nora: Are you two being bad influences on my son right now?
Sun: What!? No way! We're totally being good influences here!
Neptune: Yeah! We were only teaching him how be cool and the essence of "Dripness" and all it's glory.
Ren: Drip....Ness?
Weiss: It's this stupid nonsense they're teaching to Oscar.
Neptune: DO NOT DISRESPECT THE ESSENCE OF THE DRIPNESS, SCHNEE!!
Weiss: Neptune Vasilias.....Was that text message implying that you are yelling at me right now?
Weiss: Do Not Test Me.....jpg
Neptune: No ma'am...... I'm sorry......
Sun: Lmao! You are not having the best of luck right now, are ya, bud?
Neptune: Shut up, Sun.
Sun: But as I was saying, you guys have nothing to worry about here. He's already in good hands.
Oscar: Sun's right. They're actually pretty fun to hangout with.
Oscar: Not to say that you guys aren't fun either!! I love being around all of you!!
Nora: We know you do, sweetie lol. We're just so happy you're having yourself a good time.
Oscar: Thanks, mom.
Nora: ( ꈍᴗꈍ)( ꈍᴗꈍ)( ꈍᴗꈍ)( ꈍᴗꈍ)( ꈍᴗꈍ)
Jaune: Yeah. No. Sorry, fellas, but I don't think I see you two as good influences on Oscar.
Sun: Ah what!?
Oscar: Jaune, what are you talking about?
Jaune: I'm just saying. Making you wear heavy coat in a city filled with heat, teaching you nonsense like Weiss said.....I personally don't think that being a good influence to me. Not at all.
Oscar: ......You know, this might be a huge hunch here, but are you saying all of this is because you're jealous of Sun and Neptune?
Sun: Wait. For real?
Neptune: Is that true, Jauney-Boy?
Jaune: NO! Of course not!
Jaune: That's crazy!
Jaune: I mean, really, Oscar. Why would I, the Fearless Leader, would be jealous over two of the most popular guys on Beacon!?
Jaune: Like, they're soooo popular that girls kept falling over heels for them almost everyday in class!
Jaune: I mean, seriously! That's soooo ridiculous on paper that I'm almost close to laughing.
Ruby: Jaune?
Jaune: Yes, Ruby?
Ruby' You just sent five separate messages in the chat. I think that kinda proven Oscar's point here.
Oscar: It does.
Jaune: .......It was a.........typo?
Ruby: I don't think so.
Oscar: It clearly isn't.
Jaune: Don't sass me, mister.
Sun: Holy crap. You really are jealous of us lol!
Jaune: NO I'M NOT!! I just.... Speaking my mind is all.
Neptune: Oh Jaune, my banana hair friend. There's no need to deny it. I mean, it's not everyday that someone like you, is jealous of our coolness.
Jaune: ಠ︵ಠ
Nora: Are you implying that our Jaune-Jaune is not cool!?
Neptune: No. Not at all. All I'm saying is that maybe....juuuuust maybe, he might not be at the same level as Sun and I when it comes to our overall coolness factor.
Ren: Apologies, Neptune, but haven't I heard you gotten yourself rejected and struck out by almost every ladies you came across in Vauco? And on your first day arriving here nonetheless. If so, then I really wouldn't be talking about your level of "coolness factor" in front our Fearless Leader if I were you. Just saying.
Ruby: \(◎o◎)/\(◎o◎)/\(◎o◎)/
Oscar: (●__●)
Jaune: (‘◉⌓◉’)(‘◉⌓◉’)(‘◉⌓◉’)
Sun: ........Jesus...........
Blake: D-Did....Ren just.....
Weiss: Roasted Neptune? Yes. I believe he did.
Blake: Well, Yang went back to laughing again. So it must be effective.
Weiss: Possible.
Nora: Ren, have Jaune and I ever tell you how much we love you as of late?
Ren: You told me you love me this morning.
Nora: Oh..... Right.....Well......
Nora: WE LOVE YOU!!!~
Ren: I love you guys too, Nora. Very much.
Ren: But anyways, what are you gonna say about that, Neptune?
The Great Neptune Left Chat.
Weiss: Neptune?
Blake: Where did he go?
Sun: Don't worry, you guys. Neptune's fine. He just lowered his head on the table and sulking. I think he's crying too.
Sun: A Broken Neptune.jpg
Blake: Huh. He really does look broken.
Sun: Right!? I mean, Jesus Christ, Ren! Since when did you became a savage?
Ren: I have my ways. Just know that I'm not same as I used to be. Not mostly at least.
Sun: An almost changed man. I respect that!
Ren: Thank you.
Oscar: Oooooookay. Seeing that this Groupchat is going haywire already, I just wanted to let you guys know that we are outside at the Noodle Shop getting ourselves something to eat and will be coming back home in shortly....After we cheer up Neptune.
Oscar: And before anyone, no, we didn't buy the drip coat. They only wanted to see how it looks on me. So you don't have to worry if I'm planning on buying it or wearing it outside.
Ruby: Well, I'm glad you didn't get the coat. I don't want you to pass out on the streets.
Weiss: Neither does any of us. We love you too much to see you getting yourself hurt again.
Oscar: I know. I love you guys too. And don't worry, I'll be extra careful from here on. And Ruby, I'll bring you cookies once I get back.
Ruby: Really!?
Oscar: Yeah. To cheer you up and stuff.
Ruby: Awwwwwww Oscar!~ Thank you!~ You being here makes me happy already!~ (◠‿・)—☆
Oscar: Aw I'm flattered~ ( ꈍᴗꈍ)
Nora: I'm expecting a big hug outta you once I see you back home, mister!

1500k Commission [Uchiha Obito / Fem Reader] @obitobrigade
🌹My Ko-Fi page [Commissions are open!]
Obito x Coffy NSFW baking chocolate chip cookies at home. *coffy is a thick thighs/ booty girl, nerdy, wears glasses, freckles... *
Tumblr media
[Drawing by @obitobrigade TO USE IT ASK HER PERMISSION, IT IS HER CREATION, DO NOT REPOST WITHOUT PERMISSION!]
Under the rain, Obito runs, trying to take shelter under every roof or balcony he finds to avoid the icy water falling from the sky. Of course, he doesn't carry an umbrella, he always thought he was too cool for such things, although at times like these he regrets it.
He bumps into several people before managing to stop at the door of a shop, with his jacket soaked and his jeans completely wet. Frustrated and grumbling, he reaches into the pocket of his tight trousers and looks for the paper you gave him before leaving.
The note is ruined, breaking because of the humidity and with the ink dripping on its surface.
"How am I supposed to know what ingredients to buy now? How were those cookies made? She's going to kill me..."
Slapping his face, he grunts, scolding himself before the grey panorama of the city. He has only fifteen minutes before the shops start closing, and he doesn't even remember what he had to take home.
Of course, his pride is too great to return empty-handed, that is why, angry and motivated not to disappoint you, he sets off again, adjusting the hood of his jacket over his head and running to his destination, avoiding pedestrians.
Eventually he arrived at the supermarket where the shopping was usually done, with about 10 minutes left before the doors closed. In desperation, he did not hesitate and entered like a hurricane, leaving a trail of water behind him on the dry floor. His panicked face prevented anyone from daring to tell him anything, and with a hasty pace but without being able to trot, he headed for the first shelf he found, without even knowing what he was looking for.
Fortunately, there was an employee there, a young man with brown hair and red marks on his face. The teenager smelled like a dog, as if he hadn't bathed for days, but that would have to be enough. Although being a shy person, someone who hates unnecessary contact or interactions, Obito was forced to approach and talk to him, being his last chance to achieve his goal.
The boy was placing products in their respective places, with headphones and chewing gum noisily, when the Uchiha touched his shoulder and scared him.
"WHAT THE FUCK MAN?! DON'T YOU KNOW HOW TO KNOCK?!"
"What the...? Never mind. Kid, I need your help."
"Why do you think I'm wearing this stupid uniform, old man?"
"You little piece of shit, tell me what ingredients I need to make chocolate chip cookies."
"Nothing is free in life, you know? I have to buy food for my dog, I have to pay for my food, I have to..."
Taking money out of his wet pocket, Obito cursed the teenager lowly, who smiled smugly at having won the hand.
"Take it and shut up. Tell me what I need or I'll wait for you outside until your shift is over.
"Don't you have a nursing home to go back to? This way, I'll share with you the recipe my mom uses."
After getting what was needed according to that child, Obito left the shop with a bag of groceries, hoping to have bought what was needed and not to disappoint you when he got home.
Running again in the rain, the trip to your flat was much quicker. His anxiety to get there and be dry, warm and comfortable next to you was too much. Until he remembered that he might have picked up the wrong ingredients and wanted the earth to swallow him up.
His intengrity as Uchiha was at stake.
The Uchihas never make mistakes, that is the first basic rule of the clan.
Arriving at the door, he used the key that you had given him some time ago to enter, being grateful not to feel the cold of the wind and water on his soaked body. He made his way to the elevator and headed to your floor, finding your entrance quickly and getting in without announcing himself.
But of course you were there to welcome him.
"Obi, you really should have taken an umbrella... it's not such a big deal you know?
" Over my dead body [Y/N], none of that.
"You're soaked! There's not a part of your clothes that doesn't drip with water! Go to the bathroom and take a hot shower please, I don't want you to get sick"
Removing the grocery bag from his hand and closing the door, you pushed him into the bathroom, leaving him to take care of himself. Being that you had been together for some time, it was usual to find his clothes among your things, so it was not strange to get a change of underwear and a pair of trousers. No luck with the shirt.
It took him a while to finish, as the warm feeling on his body after being mistreated by the frost was like paradise. When he came out, you offered him the clothes you had available, and although you also gave him the option of a sweater he didn't want to accept it, remaining without a shirt and with his chest in the air.
His heart stopped when you opened the bag and started to take out the ingredients, placing them on the kitchen table and putting on the cooking apron. But by not telling him anything, by not reproaching him for bringing the wrong flour, the wrong milk, how bad the butter was, his body began to relax. Staying by your side, he observed your features as you started to work, your dark hair falling on your shoulders and its beautiful volume, your freckles hidden under your glasses, your hips embraced beautifully by your trousers.
His eyes were feasting when your voice woke him up.
"Come on sir, you have to help me, no looking!”
"Yes, ma'am!"
Both put hands to work, and Obito's concentration managed to last a short time in the work he was doing, before getting lost again in your figure, in your profile, in your thighs, in how easily you managed to make him laugh just by smiling.
Your presence was light in his life, and nobody could replicate it.
Positioning himself behind you, he put his hands back on the kitchen table, working again while his bare chest was stuck behind your back and his waist was pressed against your butt.
When his member found that cozy space between your rear, his hands completely forgot what to do with the cookies, and you found no reason to complain. His movements were soft and gentle, his hips swayed from side to side, letting you feel his cock getting harder and harder just by touching you over your clothes, and his abs acted as support for your body when you needed to lean back.
"Don't stop working, I want to eat those today.”
"But you did stop working...”
"I'm about to work on another cookie, if you know what I mean...”
Kneeling on the floor, Obito lowered your trousers and underwear, exposing your pussy which was beginning to get wet without shame. Almost like a hungry man, he held your buttocks with both hands and opened your butt, gaining access and sliding his tongue from your clitoris to your ass. He brought his warm, strong muscle back into your cunt, delivering rapid, continuous movements to your sensitive pearl while two of his fingers reached inside you and began an intense motion.
It didn't take him long to get your body to build up that wonderful discharge, pounding his digits to the right spot while with his other hand he lowered his own clothes and began to masturbate on the floor from the arousal. Overwhelmed by the sensations of pleasure and the moaning that your man was generating inside you, it was impossible for you to even remember that you were cooking, holding strongly with both hands on the kitchen table while your orgasm was furiously approaching.
Once you reached your climax, he stood up, hitting your buttocks with his hard, erect length, letting you know he madly needed to be inside you. Holding your waist, he bent his knees and positioned his tip in your humping hole, guiding himself into your canal slowly, enjoying how his skin was stretched back by the friction.
One of his hands slipped along the side of your body, dirtying your clothes with kitchen ingredients and grabbing you by the neck, exerting a gentle pressure, just the way you like it. With his mouth in your ear, his movements began, while his mind was too clouded with pleasure to even formulate words.
Deep breaths escaped from his chest as the sound of skin against skin filled the kitchen, and your screams made him feel as if he were being pushed by a rush of vertigo and pure pleasure.
The way your warm pussy milked his cock felt like a dream, a wonderful moment that he wanted to last forever, but eventually, his climax attacked him, thanks also to his previous masturbation, being accompanied by your second orgasm.

The Damned Disgrace--Buddie Pirate AU, Chapter 2
"Dios mio, you're useless."
Buck looked up from where he'd been struggling to swab the deck and met the glare of Captain Nash's angry first mate--Diaz, and sighed. He'd already been on the ship a fortnight, and while Chimney had fit right in, used to hard work and quickly picking up the vernacular of the other pirates, Buck stuck out like a sore thumb. He wasn't used to manual labor, having spent his life behind books and papers, and had no instinct for it. He tried, oh did he try so hard, but his clumsy hands struggled to complete work that someone else had to repeat later to make sure it was done right. And the pirates who didn't ignore him were usually laughing at him. What few acquaintances he'd made in his past life had been in academic circles. These men had no patience for or interest in unusual trivia about far away lands, or wonderings about what the world would be like if mankind lived under the water and fish lived on land.
Buck was red with sunburn, blistered all over--on his back, his forearms, and face from sunburn, and his hands, fingers and feet from work. He ached everywhere.
He looked away from Diaz and went back to stubbornly pushing the mop around the deck.
I won't be useless! I won't go overboard. I'm going to work hard and they'll help me find Maddie and bring her home! and if I get to shoot that thrice-damned Commodore Douglas too, well that would be a boon from God--
"Stop. Just stop."
Buck stopped, his heart sinking. He dared not look Diaz in the eye again, already knowing the derision and anger he would see there.
Sure the other pirates ignored him or laughed at him behind his back. But Diaz? Diaz detested him. This was the first time he'd ever spoken to Buck but definitely not the first time he'd loomed nearby, sneering at Buck's pathetic efforts to work as part of the team and fit in.
"We should've left you back at the port."
"What? No! No, I swear, I'm learning--"
"Learning what? How to smear muck around so someone else has to clean up after you? Again?" Diaz sneered, kicking at the mop. Buck's hands twitched around it, every blister flaring up painfully. Diaz's eyes caught it and he suddenly leaned forward. "Show me your hands."
"What...?"
"Show me!"
Buck carefully placed the mop against the rail of the ship and carefully unfolds his hands, wincing as the skin flares in pain with each motion.
"Dios...! Come with me."
"Wait, but I have to finish the--"
"NOW!"
***
Buck followed Eddie down into the ship, down down, past Buck's sleeping berth with the other sailors.
Buck looked around in trepidation. Is he taking me to the bilge? To the brig? The bilge was full of seawater, the brig a confined, rat infested cell where only the most unfortunate went.
They kept walking.
"Uh, Diaz, I... I swear, I'll work harder, I just--please don't--"
"You're not working any more today." Diaz replied shortly and threw open a door. "Hen, I've got the cabron for you. Destroyed his hands and he thinks he's magical enough not to get gangrene or something. Can you fix him up?"
The woman inside raised her eyebrows. "You don't usually bring me people, Eddie." She was dressed like the rest of the sailors but her clothes were neater and better kept.
"They aren't usually this stupid." Eddie growled.
"I... sorry." Buck mumbled, defeated.
"Don't worry about this one. He's always angry about something." Hen chuckled, and Diaz's scowl deepened. "What's your name?"
"Ah, Buck. Well, Evan Buckley, but... just Buck is okay." He felt another twinge in his heart as he said it. It was Maddie who had named him Buck.
"Buck it is. Come sit and we'll have a look at those hands."
Buck chanced a sideways look at Diaz, who was still standing there, muscled arms crossed. "Is he...?"
"Eddie was just leaving, weren't you, Eddie?" Hen's tone brooked no argument, and to Buck's surprise, Diaz obeyed.
Buck sat and held his hands out. Now that he had a moment to focus on them they hurt even more, and he could feel some of the injuries oozing. "I'm sorry, I tried to-- but--" he stopped abruptly as he felt his throat thicken and his eyes started to wet. You are already the most pathetic creature on this ship, you will not make it worse by whining about it. Silently he held his hands out, head down.
Hen sucked in a breath. "Eddie was right to bring you here. If you let these wounds get any more infected than they are and gangrene set in I might have to remove one or both of them."
Buck swallowed around a sob. As a teacher and writer, his hands were his life.
"I'll clean and wrap your hands for you." Hen continued softly. "That should be able to prevent it from getting worse, so long as you promise not to use them for the next few days and come down here every day for the next week so I can make sure they don't get worse. Okay?"
Buck nodded silently.
"Buck."
He looked up at Hen. She was wearing a kind smile and that was enough to completely undo him. A single tear slid down his cheek and he reached up a hand to stop it, but Hen wouldn't allow it. "I need to wrap these first." Her eyes and smile were all compassion. After two weeks in a foreign world with no friends on board it was a balm to Buck's soul. He kept his head bowed as she cleaned and wrapped, let the tears fall silently, unchecked. When she was done, she reached out a hand and clasped his shoulder. "The sailors are used to losing people and because you’re greener than most, they're expecting you to die. They don’t want to get close to someone they’re gonna lose. But if you stay alive they'll warm up eventually, don't fret it."
"Then.. why are you...?"
Hen snorted. "I walk to the beat of my own drum on this ship, Buck. Always have. And I've decided I like you, dumbass hand damage and all."
Buck sniffed. "Thanks."
Hen nodded. "Go to the captain and tell him that I've ordered light duty for you--no using your hands except to carry light objects. Errands only for you for the next two weeks."
"But Captain Nash said--if I'm not useful--"
Hen chuckled. "His bark is bigger than his bite. Besides, I'm pretty sure he's taken a liking to you too."
***
"Buckley."
"Uh, Captain. I... Hen, the doctor--" Buck choked off with a derisive snort at himself. Did I really just stop to explain to the captain who his doctor is? "Uh, she said I should tell you that I'm..." He held up his bandaged hands. "Light duty. Errands."
Captain Nash's face clouded and his brow furrowed as he took in the state of Buck's hands.
"But I swear, I'll be useful, I don't--please, don't throw me off the ship--"
"Buckley." One firm word and Buck silenced. "You'll rest today, and starting tomorrow you'll work as an errand boy around the ship. Messages, parcels, meals for sick crew. And anything Hen or I asks you to do, you do without question."
"I--yes. Yes, sir. Captain."
Nash looked up at him, his eyes showing the smallest glint of kindness. "A teacher's hands are his life's blood, Buckley. See to it you take care of them." Nash turned to gaze out the window of his office and sighed. "If you're very lucky, you'll need them sooner than you think."
Buck's pulse heightened. "Are we near Commodore Douglas's ship, sir?"
Captain Nash sighed. "Not as close as I’d like to be." He turned back to Buck. "Dismissed."
Buck nodded and left for his hammock.
Chapter 3
The next day he showed up bright and early at Captain Nash's office only to be sent down to Hen. Hen took one look at him and started loading a crate with various medicines and infusions, talking rapidly. For each bottle, Hen explained what it was, who it was for and why. Buck paid careful attention so he could keep up. Rote memorization and processes? He was back in his comfort zone.
"...garlic and chamomile for Wes, he ate something at port that we're still trying to get out of him. Then cat's claw for Lea, her knuckles are hurting her again. And that's all." Hen hesitated, thinking for a moment. Then she mumbled something under her breath before grabbing a few more vials. "Actually, got a few more. These are to be dropped off outside Eddie's quarters."
"Diaz? What are they for?"
"Eddie knows what to do with them." No further explanation came and Buck nodded at the dismissal and left, running around the ship to deliver the medicines to each ailing person. When he arrived at last outside Diaz's door, he paused, looking over the bottles. It made no sense to be bringing so much medicine to Diaz’s quarters. Buck had seen him just this morning, looking as healthy as ever, muscles rippling while he hauled canvas with the men. What is this for? Buck shook his head to clear the thoughts--no use risking his newfound equilibrium by prying. He hastily dropped the bottles outside Diaz's door, knocked and departed.
He followed this routine for the next week, deviating at times in the afternoon to run errands for the captain. But every morning started the same--Hen dropping several bottles and vials into a box for him to deliver around the ship and he running around as fast as he could to get it done quickly and efficiently. Each time, he would find himself hesitating outside Diaz's door, awash with curiosity at what the medicine could possibly be for. It wasn't hard to puzzle out the various vials, even though Hen hadn't identified them. Some were the same bottles he delivered elsewhere, others he recognized from his studies. Willow bark, cat's claw and ginger--pain relief.Chamomile, dried cherry, valerian, and peppermint--muscle relaxers. It was a mighty amount of herbs for the average aches of a day's work even as strenuous as the work Diaz did.
So who is it for? Buck wondered again as he approached Diaz's door to drop off the bottles. He had just turned to leave when he heard a thump on the inside of the office followed by a yelp of pain.
Good God, that's a child. There's a child in there!
Horrible images came to the forefront of Buck's mind as he imagined why Diaz might be holding a child prisoner. A child who would require so much pain relief. His skin paled in horror and he dropped the box.
I need to help! But his hands were still tightly bandaged and the door was latched shut from the inside. Buck thumped against it with his shoulders to no avail. The sturdy wood would not give.
If only I could unlatch it from the outside... Then he had an idea. He picked up one of the envelopes he was delivering for Captain Nash. It was thin but strong. Carefully, he eased it between the door and the latch, pressing the envelope between his bandaged hands to keep his grip.
With a click the latch came free and the door swung open.
Buck braced himself for what he might see and ventured inside, closing the door behind him.The room looked like the captain's, if smaller and simpler. Diaz's bed was neatly made, and soaked in sun from the window. His desk was neat and cleared off. The room was empty.
But I heard a child, I know I did!
Buck started looking around, when he heard a whimper of pain from the direction of the desk. Quickly he hastened over and pulled out the desk chair.
There, curled in the desk well and looking nothing like the skinny, dirty, or abused waif Buck had expected, lay a child. He looked clean and healthy, if in pain. He regarded Buck with large terrified eyes, his hair clean and curling every which way.
He was adorable. And as sure as grass was green, he was Diaz's own child.
So what is he doing hidden away in here?
The child whimpered again, obviously still in pain and Buck lurched away, back toward the bottles and vials he'd brought from Hen. "Here, let me help you, Hen sent me with a bunch of..." He fumbled with the bottles, pulling out the chamomile and the willow bark. "Here, this should help." The child shied away from him, curling deeper into the desk well with awkward jerky movements that only seemed to hurt him more.
"Oh God, please let me help, here, let me..." Buck backed up far away to give the child room and then gently pushed the vials at him. "Here. They're directly from Hen, don't worry. I haven't opened them or anything. See?" The child looked between Buck and the bottles, but didn't say anything.
"And--here, I'm leaving okay? Nothing to be afraid of, I'll leave you so you can climb out of that desk. It looks--God, you look like you're hurting so badly, is there anything I can do to help?"
The child still didn't respond, only regarded Buck with the same terrified eyes and Buck took it as his cue. He hastened to his feet and hurried to the door, away from the room. He was about to step out when he heard the child gasp and whimper again. He froze.
The child won't let me near him, but I can't leave him like that.
Diaz! Diaz can help him!
"I'm going to go and get your father, okay?" Buck took another step toward the door.
"Don't!" A small plaintive voice called, and Buck paused again.
"I can't just leave you like this... Wait, did your father do this to you??"
"No, no!" came the small cry. "He's the best papa ever. And..." the child paused then continued in a stronger voice. "He'll kill you if he finds out you know about me."
Buck's body froze in place. "Surely not--" The child cried out again, and Buck hastened back to the desk. The child was panting now, but still wouldn't move. "Oh, for the love of God, please let me help you!"
"Can't... don't... trust... you." Christopher panted in between pained gasps.
"Oh God, please--" Buck's voice broke and he felt himself start to cry. "I can't--you're hurting. You... I was a schoolteacher before I got onto this ship, I love kids, I swear I just want to help, please!" He reached out his bandaged hands toward the child. "Look, see? I couldn’t hurt you even if I wanted to! I--I swear I won't tell anyone about you on this ship, I'll never speak to you again. Just let me help you settle yourself more comfortably, you need to take some herbs for the pain..." He was blubbering now, his view of the child obscured by tears. He tensed as he felt small hands grasp around his bandaged hands.
"Please help." The boy whimpered.
He sobbed in relief and crooked his wrapped hands so they became large hooks to grip the child and carefully, oh so carefully pulled him out of the desk well. By this time he heard the child begin to cry as well, still on the floor. Buck quickly swiped his eyes with his threadbare sleeve to clear them. "There now, that's a bit better, I'm sure. Let's get you settled into the bed and I'll mix some medicine with water to relieve the pain.”
Buck carefully lifted the child, who whimpered at being jostled. Carefully he laid the boy on Diaz's neatly made bed and hastened back to the bottles and vials, pulling corks out with his teeth and pouring a the various powders into a tin cup. He filled the cup the rest of the way with water from a pitcher on the small wash stand and stirred it to mix before offering the cup to the child.
But the boy only shook his head, crying more."Don't want it. It tastes h-horrible." The child's big eyes were red from crying and Buck's heart broke.
"Oh, shh, there there. Yeah, I won't lie to you, it’s going to taste pretty bad. But once you drink it, you'll stop hurting so much and then you can relax and sleep or play." Buck clumsily rested a wrapped hand in the child's hair.  "How's that sound?"
Still the child shook his head.
"Okay, how about this?" Buck took a theatrical sniff and wrinkled his nose. "I'll drink some and then you have to drink the rest, okay?" None of the ingredients were harmful to someone who wasn't in pain. "Deal?"
The boy looked at him, surprised. “Really?” Buck nodded and the boy sighed. "Deal."
Buck grinned, then made a big show of sniffing the contents of the glass. "Ohh blurggh," he shuddered theatrically, and heard the slightest huff from the bed. "Oh boy, here we go." He took a sip then screwed up his face and shook it rapidly back and forth like a dog. "Heaven and earth, but that's awful!" The child giggled and Buck continued with his performance, making gagging noises and funny faces. "You must be the strongest kid I know to drink this every day."
"That's what Papa says, too." The boy smiled.
"Well, he's right. I don't think I can handle any more." Buck made one more funny face and the boy laughed again. "Okay, you ready? I'll count to five, and then you drink it all as fast as you can, okay?"
The child hesitated. "How much is five?"
Buck turned to him, eyes wide. "You don't know...?" Then he paused. No use making the boy feel bad for something that wasn’t his fault. Besides, this was Buck's specialty. "Five is a number, you'll see. I'm going to count a few numbers, and when I say five you drink that down as quickly as you can so you barely taste it, okay?"
The boy nodded. "Okay."
"One, two, three, four... five, go!"
With Buck's clumsy assistance, the child drank down the mixture, screwing up his face just like Buck did. "Urgh."
Buck laughed. "I think you made a funnier face than I did." The boy reminded Buck of his own students. He missed children, their bright-eyed optimism, their enthusiasm for exploring the world around them. "I hope I don't die for meeting you, kid. You're just about the nicest person on this entire ship."
The child smiled. "Christopher."
Buck returned his grin and held out a bandaged hand. "Nice to meet you Christopher. I'm Buck." Christopher reached out in jerky movements and shook Buck's hand, both of them giggling at how clumsy the exchange was.
"I hope you don't die either, Buck." It seemed that the medicine was starting to work. Christopher was relaxing and his smile wasn't edged with quite so much pain anymore.
"In that case, I should probably run before your father finds me. those big strong hands of his would tear me in half like paper." Buck stood, patting Christopher on the head once more before turning away.
"...Buck?"
"Hm?" He turned back. The boy was starting to fall asleep.
"Can... Can you come back and visit me again?"
What a terrible idea. "Of course, Christopher." Buck rummaged up a brave smile. "I'd love to see you again." An idea occurred to him suddenly and he straightened his shoulders. "I'll even teach you how to count to five all by yourself if you want?"
The boy's tired eyes lit up. "Yes. Yes please..." His eyes slipped closed and he fell asleep.
Buck smiled, feeling warmed for the first time in weeks. Carefully he gathered the scattered items for the rest of his errands and slipped from the room, latching it behind him.
