not to purgatory post in march 2024 but holy SHIT i need to gush about a song off the bolas playlist so listen the fuck up (yes soulfire you too, trust me):
EVIL PEOPLE, BY SET IT OFF. added by Charlie Slimecicle at time of posting it is the 3rd track on the playlist, a spot WELL EARNED, FRANKLY (2nd is ofc punk tactics, used in that iconic animation, and the 1st is a foghorn sound effect for equally obvious reasons)
THESIS: THIS IS THE PERFECT REPRESENTATION OF BOLAS. (it also goes so hard)
in the song, the singer is talking about "evil people" (obv, that's the title). AT NO POINT IN THE SONG CAN I CONCLUDE WHETHER BOLAS IS THE SINGER, OR THE EVIL PEOPLE.
AND THAT IS PERFECT FOR TEAM BOLAS. now listen up chucklefucks
here are the lyrics to the chorus:
"you're just evil people / crackin' smiles and twistin' knives / friendly, but lethal / like the devil in disguise, hiding in plain sight / you're just evil people / and i don't trust a single fuckin' one of y'all"
now listen. bolas GLEEFULLY murdering--themselves, their opponents, anybody--CRACKIN SMILES AND TWISTIN KNIVES. CHAOS. MURDER. FRIENDLY BUT LETHAL. THIS CHORUS SCREAMS BOLAS IS THE EVIL PEOPLE.
HOWEVER, MAY I DIRECT YOUR ATTENTION TO THE FIRST VERSE:
"i gave an inch, you take a life / it's do or die / They [the evil people] tried to drown me in the drama / and now i'm swimming with piranhas / that bleed me dry, i won't survive"
THIS IS REMINISCENT OF THE OTHER TEAMS FROM BOLAS'S POV ON DAY 1. bolas attempted to rp it out ("gave an inch") and were killed in stone silence for it ("you take a life") and then SUFFERED THE REST OF THE DAY LMAO ("now i'm swimming with piranhas"). this would suggest that BOLAS IS THE SINGER.
LIKE GENUINELY NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES I LISTEN TO THIS SONG I CAN'T CONCLUDE WHETHER IT'S BOLAS SINGING ABOUT THE OTHER TEAMS, OR IF IT'S THE OTHER TEAMS SINGING ABOUT THEM
and genuinely i think that is PERFECT for bolas, i think that song perfectly fucking encapsulates the absolute madness that was team bolas. i think BOTH are true; i think bolas IS EQUALLY the singer and the evil people. i think bolas fully believes they are the singer and i think the other teams fully believe bolas is the evil people and i think that's PERFECT. BOLAS ARE THE EVIL PEOPLE, and yet they're also the ones being menaced by the evil people!!!!! and that's it that's purgatory!!!! that single fucking song is team bolas done and DUSTED. I REST MY FUCKING CASE.

what can i say about mogami keiji that has not already been said !!!!!!!!!!!! he serves as a really well written foil to mob and introduces concepts and ideas that- while he does execute to the extreme due to his inability to accept change or offer chances of redemption instead of teaching permanent lessons- do hold some valid points muddled within his whole nihilism deal that resonate within mob and are important to the story actually.
like this is really interesting!!!! granted mogami keiji is hyperblasting projections onto mob due to the way he lived in life as a victim of circumstance compared to mob who had people who loved him to fall back onto struggling with slightly similar gripes surrounding his psychic powers that mogami is insane about but he does sort of make a point here.
whether mob really realizes it or not despite his attempts to live as psychic power free as possible when it comes to his interpersonal relationships they DO have an effect on his life and mentality. subconsciously he does have a last resort when it comes to solving his problems and the mogami arc really focuses in on mob learning to embrace this part of him that others have chosen to show kindness to. while having psychic powers doesn't make you more or less special and doesn't determine your worth circumstances can change how prominent or significant it is in your life. leading back to the message about how others who love you unconditionally will love every part of you and embrace them as a core part of you rather than see them as obstacles or things to be wary of.
also really interesting is how. genuinely sad mogami's worldview is. for all we know this might not even be the case and spirit powerscaling could rely on something completely different emotional response or not but the way mogami turns completely towards stress and negative emotions being the cause for immense spiritual power using himself as an analogy has a lot to say about how miserable he is.
a big chunk of mogami arc is focusing on how stewing in all the negative aspects of the world and refusing to embrace change makes you. a sad person. life is about living girlies and making attempts to heal and be vulnerable and honest to others to form emotional connection is something difficult but brave. and to value the connections already established in our lives is something to be grateful about and cherish
lot to say about mogami keiji being a victim of circumstance and his unbridled pessimism taking over both his life and afterlife until he starts to pursue settling grudges as a way of self validation and gratification under the guise of vengeance but what i will say is that though bad people exist in this world good people do too and to cherish those who treat you kindly will do you many favors
love you mob psycho forever and always. anyways uhh uhhhh your qualities don't make you special or determine your worth but they do impact how you live your life and the connections you make with other people both positively and negatively. and it's important to cherish people who accept these qualities as parts of you and embrace you as a whole because i don't know go live laugh love

Louis/Lestat: Louis gave Lestat a hard look and said, "You can't always have your way."
Send a pairing and a starting line!
Louis gives Lestat a hard look and says, "You can't always have your way."
"Says who?" Lestat saunters across the room, away from Louis, towards the vanity mirror. Taking a seat, he pauses for a moment to stare at his reflection, startled as always by the icy alien eyes that look back at him.
"Says I."
Louis doesn't often stoop to Lestat's juvenile taunts, but sometimes he wonders if it's the only way to get through to him. Logic certainly won't work, it never has in the past.
"Who died and made you king? Oh wait—"
Louis can hear that Cheshire Cat grin in his voice already, and it's utterly maddening.
It's one thing to slip into the night without the provided protection of those Blood Drinkers assigned to protect him and without informing a single soul of his whereabouts, but to come home with that smile, as if he's achieved some sort of triumph! Louis hates to fight like this, he's acutely aware of how he comes across. The angry housewife, the jealous lover. But he's past the point of caring this evening.
"If you are going to brag about your crown, I would expect you to at least live up to the title."
He's quick to cut deep with his anger, just as Lestat is quick to dismiss it: "Oh, don't be so dramatic, Louis!"
He punctuates the exclamation with a flick of his wrist as he reaches behind his head to take down his hair, admiring the way it tumbles back over his shoulders.
"I happen to be completely serious. You cannot just disappear like that. This isn't a game." Louis peers at him through the mirror, steps closer until Lestat has no choice but to turn and face him.
"Did you workshop this little lecture with Marius while I was away? You sound so very much like him, it's remarkable."
He makes himself laugh with that little quip, but before he can get another word out, Louis hand is on his shirt collar, and suddenly the wooden edge of the table cuts into his back. It isn't the violence of the act that shocks him, so much as the intensity imbued in each movement, the sudden tide of unbridled rage sizzling in his very bones. Louis could have pinned him with his gaze alone.
Ah, Lestat finally thinks to himself, so this is more than our nightly bickering routine.
"You listen to me now, Lestat." He all but growls. "You cannot run off like that again, do you understand me? Your recklessness will have consequences one day— it always does."
The room is silent, for a moment, as something switches in Lestat. Something old, and ugly, and only ever brought about by Louis' particular incisive confrontation.
In a flurry of movement, he pushes Louis away using only a small portion of his strength, and sends him stumbling backwards. A cruel reminder of his power.
"I can take care of myself, Louis."
"And what if you can't?"
"I can."
"What if something had happened, Lestat? What if, while you played hooky on your meetings, something were to happen to you? Do you have any idea—"
"—any idea of the responsibility I hold to all our kind, blah blah blah, yes, Louis, I know. God knows I know! Every breath I take, I am reminded of that responsibility, I do not need you hammering it into me!" He slams one hand on the vanity table in his frustration and sends the whole thing shattering.
"I am the vampire Lestat and I know goddamned well what that means to everyone around me!"
"I'm not talking about everyone around you, I'm talking about me!" Louis bites.
"You! What about y—"
"Do you have ANY IDEA, Lestat, how UTTERLY EXHAUSTED I am from WORRYING ABOUT YOU?!"
And there it is. An outburst decades in the making.
He raises his voice to a bellowing volume, impossible to ignore, filling the space with all pent up rage and resentment, grief and anguish at those years spent on the cold chapel floor. Every misadventure, from human bodies to the concert stage, with Louis right there just beyond reach, praying that they might meet again, that they might be together, that Lestat might live to see another day, if only for the selfish reason of holding Louis in his arms.
"I don't care if you leave." Louis finally breathes, softer now. "I don't care if you want to be alone. But I need you to trust me, and I need you to tell me. Not as your consort, but as your lover."
It's Lestat's turn to soften, now, as a pool of crimson begins to well in the corner of his eyes. "I just wanted...I can't breathe in here, Louis, it's suffocating."
He feels so small when he says it. So childish.
But Louis is there in an instant, pressing their foreheads together, inhaling a breath just to feel the way it fills his chest in this moment. The depth of the moment feels at once terrifying and tender. Like the comforting squeeze of a boa constrictor, it holds them tight for some time.
"One of these days," Louis sighs deeply, "I'm going to kill you myself just to avoid the agony of waiting for someone else to do it."
Lestat smiles at the bleak punch of humor, nuzzles his nose against Louis's, and whispers:
"You won't be rid of me so easy, lover."
"Is that a promise?"
"Promise."

Hello footblr: hockey department! 👉👈 I saw on here a whileeee ago about you comparing crosby/ovechkin to messi/cr7. I always kind of compared ovechkin to neymar with them both being kind of flop artists (trophy wise) but crowdpleasers who really showcase their sport. (Also they’re both set to break Gretsky/Pele’s goalscoring records before they retire 😋 ) I didn’t grow up watching hockey or football so thats kinda my own uninformed opinion and I was wondering your thoughts. Is there a better Neymar equivalent in hockey that I can look out for? I haven’t watched hockey since leaving DC but I’m in North Carolina now so… really considering jumping on the bandwagon for next season.
hi anon, i think this is one of my favourite asks i've ever received, so first of all thank you so much for this!
(the rest is below the cut if you want to read my analysis! sorry this is so long anon)
it's hockey season! ask me questions!
when i was comparing messi&cr7 to sid&ovi, i was mostly comparing the rivalry not the individual players. the rivalry is similar in the sense that since like 2005ish, they have been competing for the same titles not only with their club teams but with their countries and individually. they also have very similar play styles, messi as a false nine/cam who produces play and assists (as well as scoring goals) matches well with sid, who is a center who creates plays and assists (as well as scoring goals). cr7 as a winger who primarily scores goals, although he does assist and create plays occasionally (although more when he was younger then now), is very similar to ovi, who is also primarily a goal-scoring winger.
neymar, however, is kind of a thing of his own? i don't think there's any really good comparison for a skiller who is arguably the third best of his generation who is leading his country. the closest comparison i can think of is connor mcdavid, he is a skill player who is currently the best in the world, and he has the expectation to lead canada to greatness but he hasn't been able to play at international competitions for reasons that aren't his fault. if you are looking for skill players who play beautiful hockey with lots of tricks, may i recommend highlights from the sedin twins, connor mcdavid, connor bedard, and trevor zegras? they have some gorgeous plays and some impressive skills that are so fun to watch.
in terms of teams, if you are in north carolina now i truly recommend the carolina hurricanes! they are a really well built team, who plays gorgeous clean hockey with great defensive work. technically, as a team, they are the most fun to watch for me because visually, they are hockey tactics in motion and i adore that. stunning, stunning team to watch, and they are slated to do quite well so they will go far! i am slightly biased as i recently jumped onto the canes bandwagon while doing research for another friend here, so i have a lot of canes content on my blog if you scroll (or you can dm/ask me anything about them! honestly i love talking shop). if you're looking for a team with many blorbos you can obsess over, the pittsburgh penguins are a great team for that! many players you can obsess over, and shoutout to pensblr fr i love it over there they are so much fun to interact with. i always like to advertise the canucks on here, i think they are a fun team to watch! very high scoring, lots of skilled play although a bit sloppy. lots of drama, lots of goals, what more could you ask for in a team! and for one more option, the florida panthers are quite scrappy and surprisingly good, their entire team is like an underdog that somehow keeps winning! they're fun to watch and though i am not a fan, i am keeping half an eye on them after their playoff performance last year.
those are my recommendations! please let me know if you have any questions about teams or players, i enjoyed this so much! if you decide on a team, let me know if you want links to watch!

HELAL
I have a lot of stuff running through my mind rn and im in a hurry and idk if its going to make sense but oh well.
(its list anon and I have another thing to add to my 'favorite things about finding myself in Hellas circle of existence list thing)
The thing is how much your personality sinks through into your writing and blog thing.
Let me explain,
I lost internet for a few days and I just got it back and was scrolling through tumblr and noticed one of my mutuals reblog something of yours and I was like 'I havent been on the internet for like four days, I wonder what Hella has been up to.' and so I started stalking you (as one does) and like scrolling through your blog and everything and I came across the post you thinged about your hometown and about how shameful you are about your writing and that sent me into a spiral because I know the feeling and couldnt put it into words and I felt so called out.
Thats besides the point.
I had this thing to add to the list for a while and couldn't figure out how to explain it without seeming weird so Im just doing my best here.
It's like when you post things about the things that go on in your mind. I touched on this in my first list thingy with the whole 'when you post little snippets of whats going on in your mind and turn it into what I can only describe as poetyry' part. It's simular but it's not the same.
It's really easy to see someone and follow someone who is so eloquent and brilliant and hold them close to divinity and think about how untouchable they are, which seems weird because I'm on Tumblr of all places. But like when you follow your favorite authors on twitter or instagram and they seem almost inhuman. And sometimes it feels like being that talented is so unattainable because you're not them, you can't spew out flawless lines of words seemingly effortlessly and you cant come up with a plot that clever and even if you can't you can't give the story justice because you're not that good of a writer.
Even other writers on this site are like this and so...ethereal almost. I've mentioned before how a lot of other writer almost run their blog like a business and everything and you scroll through them and see people constantly sending them asks about their works and sending them fanart and people obsessing over their art and like I said it seems unattainable for your average person. Like I dont get that so maybe I'm not that good.
Then I come to your blog and you talk about situations I relate to and you don't hide your humanity and you talk about your classes in economics of all things and your home town and all your problems (while valid) are normal. You're more relatable than the other writers I follow at least.
I've mentioned in other asks ( I dont think they were list ones but they might have been idk ) that you inspire me a lot. This is why. Also the fact that you're my age (I'm 18) and your not in your 20s and you havent taken a decades worth of writing classes and you dont have a degree in literature. You're literally just person living a normal life. That's not to say other authors and writers arent just normal people but you just show it a lot more, idk.
Like reading things like taob and tbos and then going to your main blog and seeing the way you write your stuff in your mind and then going two posts down and your talking about normal things makes me think that maybe I can write something incredible too one day.
And the reason I have the ability to feel that way in relation to you and your stupid blog (affectionate) is because you let your normal personality show, not some robotic businessy- type personality.
That's not to say that I don't think your just an average person, average people can't describe things so rawly. But, like I said, you're not untouchable.
Based on what I see from you and what you show online, I really think that you have the potential to be great one day. Not that you should hold yourself and force yourself into a life you don't want, like if you don't want to be a famous writer, don't be. But I genuinely just hope that you grow up and find a career you're happy in.
More than anyone I see on the internet, you deserve to live a life that you absolutely love, no matter what that might be.
I said it before that I always feel really obsessive when I send asks like this, and I feel creepy, so if I come off that way I'm sorry. I just try to make it a point to tell people when I enjoy them as a person.
Also I have some songs that kind of remind me of you.
The first one if Vienna by Billy Joel. I think the chances of you not knowing this one is very slim because it's such as popular song right now. But it's my favorite song and it reminds me of you.
The other one is read all about it by Emili Sande (pt 3 is the best) I think this song is also pretty popular, it also might not be, idk. But it's one of those songs that not a lot of people that I show it to like. Idk why. The vocals are weird (in my opinion) but I love the lyrics.
If you already know these songs just ignore this part :)
ME WHEN LIST ANON:
