It's not weird, because Tim has always gotten attached to minor characters in every show he's ever watched, and so what if there's a background werewolf in this one episode that probably died in the end, but it wasn't on screen, so easily he could've just run away or whatever. Most of the fandom thinks he ran away. Of course half of them seem to want him to come back and get together with Wendy, which, ew, obviously she's not his type.
Tim thinks his type might be tall dark and mysterious, someone cool who skateboards, maybe someone booksmart but not too much of a nerd, good with computers, but athletic too, not really a jock, not really anything it's easy to put a label on. Bernard thinks his type might be blonds who are very into cutting edge fashion, very perceptive, charismatic, easy to make friends with. Also hard to put a label on. They agree, at least, it's not Wendy.
Only the more Bernard explains his reasoning, the more Tim starts to agree with it. It makes sense, really, for a werewolf to like those sorts of things. That he might have a friend who's just a little bit cooler than him, that he might need someone to convince him to really let loose and have fun. Someone sarcastic as hell, and funny. And the thing is, Bernard agrees with Tim, too, and way too quickly, so maybe they're both right. Maybe he's just a complex guy. He's only in one episode, but there's so much material to draw from, and at least they can both agree he's clearly gay. Which werewolves are allowed to be, even if the show thinks they aren't.
Tim is always invested in minor characters, and maybe this one he's just a little more invested in the way his hair curls just down to his eyelashes, the way his throat moves when he swallows, how his thumb looks stroking down the spine of a book. But it's all down to characterization, how he's gruff but sensitive, how he's a badass with a heart of gold. Tim pays close attention to the shape of his muscles and the way he stands, but it's all just to paint a picture when he writes the rest of the story, to make sure it's accurate to how much the werewolf can lift, how his stomach looks, clenched and taut and sweat drenched, as he hefts a car above his head. Tim watches his jeans cling, but it says a lot about a character, the clothes they choose to wear.
Tim's written a story because he always writes stories, and there's so many out there, he's not the only one. He did a lot of research, because he likes to be thorough, and it's not like he was hiding it. It's well written and he's proud of it and he shared it with his friends, who told him it was good. Bernard told him it was good, and he's working on his own story, and he said his wouldn't hold a candle to Tim's. It's not like it's smut. There was plenty of plot to it. Not that Tim's judging anyone who would write pure smut because if that's their thing, well, it's not Tim's thing and it doesn't have to be.
It's not weird, because Bernard is just as attached, and he's happy to talk about it at length, and all of it's just brainstorming details, rewatching the episode to try to get the little quirks right. How he stands. How he smiles. The roll of his r's that sends a shudder down their spines. Both of theirs, Bernard's too, and he says it so flippantly it can't possibly mean anything. Bernard's the straightest guy Tim knows. Not that it would matter if he weren't. That might be kind of cool, actually. Tim might ask him what it was like to kiss another guy, actually. Tim might ask him if it's different smelling someone's cologne because you like him and not to see if you want to wear it yourself. Tim might ask him how it feels to look at a guy and think something other than that it's cool to be him. That you want to be him. That there must be so much to his life that you can't see yet.
It's not weird, because Tim's always related to minor characters, seen something of himself in them, tried to figure out his life through their eyes. And everyone on TV is pretty. Bernard says so too.
