yeah so this piece by robert booth just got published in the guardian and it begins as such:
which is not at all surprising because yeah the government really hates poor people here. like as in one of the "solutions" to rising in homelessness in cities is to just,, buy unhoused people a one way train ticket to somewhere else.

If you live in the UK right now I seriously urge you to fill out this consultation.
The government and the rail operating companies intend to close nearly 1000 train station ticket offices because they deem them "a waste of money". This is not true. Ticket offices are important, not only to people that are unable to buy their tickets online but most importantly to disabled people. Ticket staff and station attendants are the ones responsible for providing accessible literature and information about travel and helping people board and leave trains safely and securely. Furthermore, they deal with station security, should an accident happen at the station, the ticket staff are first to attend. The government and the train operating companies want to shut these vital services down which will not only make thousands of people redundant but also make the railways a much less safe place to travel.

Except instead of the dead remains of a blue whale, it’s the bloated, swollen, fat carcass of some infernal creature not fit for this world, leaking oil and excrement, irradiated into oblivion, occasionally belching smoke, constantly pouring out blood-soaked disease ridden currency, setting rivers on fire and polluting the fuck out of the entire surrounding area leaving it irreparably damaged and riddled with disease for generations.

1) this new law will NOT be taken seriously by you
2) this tells every TERF and Tory out there that the law is NOT valid, and that the law does NOT include queer people, specifically in this case Trans people; and
3) this tells every queer/Trans/enby/multi-sex/hermaphrodite person that we are NOT actually protected as this new law promises, and you can and will continue abusing us and destroying our lives.
Fucking thanks. Cos it wasn't obvious enough that every day gets more and more dangerous for us trans/enby people, so thanks for just making it clear to the fucking world that even when someone mocks this law openly, you don't fucking care because we are not fucking people. Got it.
