Counter-Earth - Froggai.

The Froggai are a species on Clarion closely related to the Amphibimen, and inhabiting the same equatorial regions - but in much smaller numbers. They've gone through most of their history as a persecuted minority, which led them to band together in small groups and develop self-defense techniques which eventually became a full-blown warrior code in parallel evolution with the Bushido in Feudal Japan on Earth. Persecution increased even long after the collapse of the Amphibimen empire, and had gotten so bad by the 1980s that Earth - particularly large cities like New Amsterdam - saw mass immigration of the Froggai. It eventually leveled off, but Froggai are still a not-uncommon sight on the streets of major Earth cities. Inspired by the Ninja Turtles franchise.
