Food and Drink, Whitehorse
A s'more (alternatively spelled as smore) is a confection consisting of toasted marshmallow and chocolate sandwiched between two pieces of graham cracker. S'mores are popular in the United States and Canada, and traditionally cooked over a campfire. In camping, s'mores are a popular treat for many.
S'more is a contraction of the phrase "some more". A s'more recipe appeared in a Campfire Marshmallows cookbook in the early 1920s, where it was called a "Graham Cracker Sandwich". The text indicates that the treat was already popular with both Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. In 1927, a recipe for "Some More" was published in Tramping and Trailing with the Girl Scouts. Newspaper recipes began appearing as early as 1925.
The contracted term "s'mores" appears in conjunction with the recipe in a 1938 publication aimed at summer camps. A 1956 recipe uses the name "S'Mores", and lists the ingredients as "a sandwich of two graham crackers, toasted marshmallow, and ½ chocolate bar". A 1957 Betty Crocker cookbook contains a similar recipe under the name "s'mores".
The 1958 publication Intramural and Recreational Sports for High School and College makes reference to "marshmallow toasts" and "s'mores hikes," as does its related predecessor, Intramural and Recreational Sports for Men and Women, published in 1949.

Butchies
Butchies, not to be confused with butch. Butch means a man with big big muscles.  I know a particular friend in university who was intent on being known for such, even though he was anything but.  Made for interesting discussions, as it was easy to send him into a rage, a tizzie or depression.  He still hasn’t changed after 20 years, at least on this front.  Although he has become bigger though,…

Fried Chicken Burger vs Classic Beef Burger: Which One Wins?
Tumblr media
Burgers have been a favorite American food for over a century, but the modern-day burger has evolved in ways that would have been hard to imagine back in the day. From traditional beef burgers to vegetarian and vegan alternatives, there is a burger for everyone. One such popular variation is the fried chicken burger. In this article, we’ll be discussing the differences between the classic beef burger and the fried chicken burger, and which one comes out on top.
Beef burgers have been a staple of American cuisine since the early 1900s. Made from ground beef and seasoned with various spices, the classic beef burger is a comfort food that is enjoyed by millions of people worldwide. The patty is usually cooked on a grill, and the burger is then assembled with traditional toppings such as lettuce, tomato, onions, cheese, and condiments like ketchup and mustard.
On the other hand, fried chicken burgers are a newer variation of the classic burger. The patty is made from chicken breast, which is coated in a crispy breading and fried until golden brown. The result is a juicy and flavorful burger that is sure to satisfy any craving.
One of the most significant differences between the two burgers is the meat used. Beef burgers are made from ground beef, while chicken burgers are made from chicken breast. This difference in meat leads to a difference in taste and texture. Beef burgers tend to be juicier and have a slightly firmer texture, while chicken burgers tend to be lighter and have a more delicate flavor.
Another difference between the two burgers is the cooking method. Beef burgers are typically grilled, while chicken burgers are fried. Grilling adds a smoky flavor to the beef, while frying chicken creates a crispy exterior that is unmatched in beef burgers.
When it comes to nutritional value, chicken burgers tend to be a healthier option. Chicken breast is lower in calories and fat than ground beef, making it a better choice for those looking to watch their calorie intake. However, the breading and frying process used in making fried chicken burgers can increase the calorie and fat content.
In terms of taste, both burgers have their fans. Classic beef burgers have a timeless appeal that is hard to beat, while fried chicken burgers offer a unique and exciting twist on the traditional burger.
So, which one wins? The answer ultimately depends on personal preference. If you’re a traditionalist who loves the classic taste and texture of a beef burger, then you’ll likely choose a classic beef burger every time. However, if you’re looking for something new and exciting, then a fried chicken burger may be just what you need to satisfy your craving.
In conclusion, both the classic beef burger and the fried chicken burger have their pros and cons. While beef burgers offer a timeless taste and texture, fried chicken burgers offer a unique twist on the classic burger. Ultimately, the choice between the two comes down to personal preference. Whatever your choice may be, one thing is for sure: burgers will continue to be a staple in American cuisine for years to come.
