Anti-propaganda for Courtney Total Drama, even though the poll is long over:
-she abuses Duncan. I don't like Duncan either but you don't say "if he changes these 32 things about him then he'll be perfect" like sis just find a new man instead
-her whole lawyer gimmick was annoying
-she could've been booted off in episode 2 of tdi but Zeke had to open his mouth. WHYYYY
-justin was a better antagonist than her. I said it
-DID I MENTION THE ABUSE
Idc if you publish this or not. Idc if people send me hate or not. I know Courtney is very well liked. But I hate her and I refuse to be silenced

Tumblr media
it's been months since you've got married to taron, and you hated every second of it.
your place is in the field with a sword or in a war not in this luxurious life full of lazeness, but he prevented you from using the sword again saying it's too dangerous for an empress to go to the war.
in the start you didn't mind because you don't want to hold the sword against your home, but you can't handle it anymore when you couldn't even go out the castle.
your life start to become plain and boring, you literally had read the entire library.
whenever you open the topic with taron he close it immediately.
You've gave up on getting out from there and didn't argue about it more untill...
You have a younger sister who got married early to one of the soldiers who was under your wing, but he died in one of the battles so you took her and her children responsibilitys on you,You found a job for her to support herself and her children, and you visited them every month but after what happen you forget about her.
you were on your way to taron to give him some papers he had told you to bring because he forgot them in the room when you stumble on one of his correspondents telling him news about the empire and he mentioned something about your sister losing her job.
you had alot of questions first is that how does taron know about her? second Why does he receive her news? She doesn't even live here, but all those questions faded away when you realize you should go visit her.
You were jolted out of your thoughts when the door opened, the correspondent bow in respect and go.
taron smiled softly when he saw you "ah did you bring them already?"
you put the papers on his desk "what did the correspondent told you?" you asked like you didn't hear anything, maybe he'll told you what happen to your sister in details.
"Don't bother yourself with it, it's just normal news about the state of the empire"
you nod in acknowledge "I'll go now then,i need to do something"
"do you now? why don't we drink some tea together,We don't usually sit together" he took your hand and kissed the back of it
you pull your hand quickly "no thanks" then you left.
but then you stopped in your track,Why don't you get closer to him? Maybe he'll let you out the castle then? this idea hit you as you made your way back to him.
you opened the door aggressively "you know what let's drink tea together i don't have anything to do"
taron was confused as much as he was happy, did you finally decided to give him a chance?.
"sure,of course come sit" he said and pull the chair for you to sit on.
when you sat down he demanded the servants to bring two cups of tea in a rush
you sip from your cup in tense, since he sit down he kept just looking at you.
"your tea will get cold" you point out.
"hm?....ah yes, yeah right" he shake his head like he just come to his sense.
you roll your eyes when he wasn't looking.
he sip from his cup befor he speak "What is the reason for the sudden change in behavior,hm?....it's not like i'm complaining of course"
you pause thinking of a reason "...nothing really....I'm-just bored."
He raised his eyebrows in surprise "you're bored? Did the servants fail to bring you anything? do you need anything? should i punish someone?"
"whao there,it's nothing like that i just.....it's boring being here all the time"
he sigh "i don't like where this going to."
"why so? all i ask is a little walk in the cit-"
"no." he shuts you up immediately. "we've talked about that before,if you need anything I'll send someone to bring it to you."
"it's totally different! i need some fresh air"
"the garden is big enough"
"but it's annoying to be in the same place over and over again."
"look.." he say as he made his way to you taking your hands in his "it's all for your safety,we don't know what will happen if you set your foot outside the gates."
"i belive I'm more than capable of myself." you say in annoyance.
taron chuckle slightly "yes,i trust you can of course, let's just say i don't want anyone to see your beauty as well...If I didn't have to, I wouldn't let the servants see you at all"
"that's bullshit" you mutter under yout breath.
"i know you're not the type to stay in one place, but you'll get used to it"
you glare at him in anger and pull your hands from his.
taron sigh in frustration and ran his hand through his hair.
"is boredom the only reason that you want to go out?"
you stayed silent for a moment, "no...i want to visit my sister."
"...oh..you have a sister?"
what a liar,it taking everything in you to not punch him, "i do" you say between gritting teeth.
"don't worry about her, just tell me where is she and I'll take care of her." he smiled at you.
"no need, just let me visit her." you say in desperate.
"I'll think about it" he goes back to his side of the table "i would love to spend some more time with you but i have duties to attend" he say in an apologising tone.
you left the room without saying anything, knowing that it's just lies and he won't let you go.
you're laying down on the bed,you couldn't sleep last night thinking of ways to visit your sister.
Even if you can avoid the servants, you will not be able to avoid the guards outside.
you sigh and gets up to change, you'll think better in the fresh air.
When you open the door to leave, you're stopped by a guard standing at the door.
"please forgive me,your majesty,But it's orders you can't leave your room."
you scoff and get inside, that happened alot when taron get guests.
you sit beside the window looking out at the garden lost in thought, you heard rambling outside the door, that most be the servants busy providing hospitality, poor people.
but that when an idea crossed your mind, everyone busy with the guests,no one will notice you snaking out,And if you use a little of your power as an empress, you can leave, and no one will tell taron immediately.
you open the door again and cut the guard before he say anything "i need to use the lavatory."
the guard look between you and taron's guest room, you clear your throat to get his attention again "I'm sure taron wouldn't mind,in fact he might even get angry if he knew you didn't let me go." you feel a little guilty to use his fear against him but you know you had to,for your sister.
the guard stood in front of you in tense "as you wish, your majesty, but let me escort you."
you had no choice but to accept, now you're here in the toilet thinking about how to get rid of him.
You use one of the moves you had learned as a general,
You pull him in quickly as you apply enough pressure to the carotid arteries, while you cut off the blood flow to his brain, render him unconscious.
you mutter "sorry" and left, walking slowly to the outside gates you've bumped on one or two of the servants who questions you if you need anything or telling you that taron don't want you to go out now,but you brush it off by some excuses as he the one who told you to bring him something or you want something personal from a room.
You have successfully reached the outdoor garden, you made your way to the gates and the guards stopped you "sorry your honor but you are forbidden from leaving, it is the Emperor's orders"
you expected this to happen "I've been given permission to leave"
the guards look at each other and then one of them speak "excuse us but we have to ask his majesty about this"
"are you calling me a liar?" you say sternly.
the guard started to get tense and bow his head "i would never your honor!"
"it's-it's just for safety, your honor,so his majesty won't get upset" the other guard says shakly
"there's no need to disturb him right now,i belive my word is enough to go by,isn't it?"
the guards opened the way to you and shouted "yes of course your honor!"
it would be strange for you to go walking in this clothes in public so you take a trolley to escort you.
your eyes land on a clothes shop,it sells ordinary clothes just the thing you need so you told the trolley driver to stop by it, when you enter everyone star at you,not that they recognize you thank to taron's possessiveness, but because you look more like a royalty to buy something from a store like that.
you ignore the stars and whispers in your way looking for something more comfortable you can run in it if needed...or fight.
when you find what you want and wear it you head to pay but then realize that you didn't bring with you any money, cursing under your breath as you think of something you can pay by, your eyes landed on your ring, your wedding ring,it's not like you loved it anyway so you give it to the seller who look at you with shock but eventually take it of course even if it was too much for the price.
as you walk out the store, you tries to hide your face as much as you can so the trolley driver won't recognize you, when you get far enough you start to walk casually but fast trying to reach your sister as fast as you can before taron knows about your disappear and make a huge deal of it.
8:00p.m
it's been two hour when those shame of royalties has been here, taron grew annoyed,What they say is all bullshit to him,he could kick them out easily and for no reason but he doesn't want to deal with the drama that will happen... not now at least not when you finally softened up to him a little bit,his mood ease a little when he thought of you.
he wonder if you're asleep right now,and hope you're not, he want to spend some time with you again.
8:30p.m
oh finally they're gone!,taron bid them farewell coldly and fast he didn't even escort them to the gates but can they complain? they're lucky enough he even accepted to meet them and didn't kick them out by 5 min.
taron head to your room and got angry when no one stand at the door, didn't he set a guard here?.
he opens the door to your room slowly so he won't wake you up if you were sleeping,But all his annoyance changed to shock when he did not see anyone in the room he made sure to not let you out didn't he?!
taron shouted for the servants to come and by seconds three servants bowing on their hands before him,no one dared to left their head up not when their emperor is angry.
"i belive I've made myself clear to not let y/n left the room, haven't i?,so where is she now?" his tone is terrifyingly filled with coldness.
"We-we were s-s-so busy hosting that we didn't notice anyone leaving,your-your Majesty" one of them say shakly with terror.
"you useless insects!" he shouted "I'll deal with you later,go and prepare my horse and let some of those guards prepare themselves too...quickly!" he demanded.
the servants hurried to do what they had been told.
taron knew exactly where are you going to,if you only waited for some days, he was going to take you there of course he was, why would he prevents you from visiting your sister?? he was just going to make it a surprise but you had to break his words and now you ruined everything, he has to make you learn how to obey him even if he have to use power.
day later
it wasn't easy to left the empire the guards was everywhere, you even had to hide somewhere for like three hours.
but eventually you're out know and close to your sister's house it only take an hour walking.
.
.
.
you finally here after alot of trouble, you knock on the door and your sister opened the door real quick.
"ah-y/n! what-what got you here?"
you didn't answer instead you throw yourself at her and hug here tight, she return the hug but there was something strange about her, she sutter and seems like really anxious, you shrug this feeling off maybe she's still brokendown.
she guster you inside "I've heard about what happened" you say while sitting down.
"o-oh really? it's not a big deal...and i-i heard about your marriage" she brings some tea and biscuit to a table in front of you.
"ugh don't talk about that now,it's miserable..that sham of a man thinks he have the right to control my life or something"
"y-y/n ac-actually he's-"
"but it's true my love, i do have the right to control your life" someone cut your sister off, you recognize that voice, taron
you stand up in a defensive pose quickly wich lead to knock the tray off "what are you doing here?!"
"what? am i not allowed to visit my beloved wife sister?" he said with innocent tone.
you look at your sister with a questioning look, but what got you angry more is how your sister shiver in fear, what did he do to her?!.
"i swear to god taron if you've hurt her!" you warning.
taron only chuckle slightly "I've never heard you say my name,it's like honey when you say it"
you didn't replay don't want to go further with his playing.
taron's expression suddenly turned serious "now let's go back to the castle, and you're going to come with me obediently" he say coldly
you wanted to argue but your sister life is on the line, before you even replay he grabbed your arm and dragged you to his horse behind the house, he ride the horse at first and demand "ride" as you ride hesitantly.
The road to the castle was quiet and full of tension, you knew full well that there would be consequences when you return, but at least your sister was safe.
as soon as you reached your destination, taron took you by your arm forcefully and then threw you on the floor of the room.
you fall on your back hard but you swallow your groan,Before you lift yourself off the ground taron place his foot on your neck It chokes you a little.
"you broke my words, flower. i have to make sure you won't do it again." he say strangely calm as he tuck down and take one of your arms
the next thing you hear is a cracking noise, fuck he broke your arm.
you bite your lips to not scream and sound weak,All thanks to your training as a general, but you eventually let a little groan escape as he force more wight on it.
"you broke my heart, flower. The least i can do is break your arm,and this still not as much pain as I felt" with every word come out his mouth he twists your arm more "be thankful i didn't kill your sister."
with that he left you alone, you lift yourself up and embrace your arm letting out a few tears,it of course doesn't hurt like the battles injuries But this is the first time someone has broken your pride, and who did it? The person you hate most!.
you swear you'll get your revenge someday.
someone knock on the door, you gave permission to enter, the castle's doctor entered, she respectfully told you to sit on the bed so she cast your broken arm. (i guess it's like that?)
When she finished, she wished you a speedy recovery and left.
taron entered as soon as the doctor left,he looked at your arm for some minute before he exhale and sit down beside you.
"you lost that" He takes your good hand and place your wedding ring in your finger,a blood-stained ring, did he kill the clothes seller?!.
"you of course hadn't gave it willingly,so i brought it back to you, don't mind the blood it'll go easly with some soap" he was smiling, how can he smile when he just killed an innocent person!.
maybe the blood on the ring will remind you what taron can do without guilt, if you hadn't listen to him this would've been you sister blood.
he's terrifying.

My favourite girls who deserved to be written better by Fresh TV
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Wasn’t sure which version of Gwen’s design I liked better.
+ my train of thought in making these under the cut lol
Courtney: She was a CIT, a councillor in training! I feel like they could have represented that better in her design, considering how much she talks about it. She’s an experienced camper, and she deserves to look like a girl who knows how to be prepared for any wilderness situation.
Dawn: I honestly just never really liked her colour palette. Her original design was a little bit of an eye sore, all clashing colours. She’s a woodsy, witchy girl, and I wanted her aesthetic to match that a bit more.
Gwen: I have a lot of criticisms of Gwen’s original design. As a goth myself, I know and truly do believe that you don’t have to dress goth to be goth, but Total Drama is a show that builds its characters off of stereotypes. Gwen was supposed to be the cool, artsy, aloof goth girl, but it didn’t look like they put effort into making her design fit that archetype. She was honestly more like the intersection between mall goth and emo. Plus, in all honesty, her outfit was ugly as hell. I made her look a bit more casual goth, with trad goth aspects. (Because, realistically, when and how would she find the time to do all that makeup while competing?)

Relief (NSFT)
summary: sub!scara/male reader - scara helps you relax
word count: 1.2k
warnings: expl!cit content, manipulation, dub-con, yandere behavior, an/al, thigh riding, male reader
a/n: this was requested before wanderers reveal (yes that long ago- so sorry) so i went with fatui scara!
addtl notes: first time writing a submissive yandere! i hope it turned out well.
The hallways were long, so long, they seemed to never end. You practically had to speed-walk to reach the other end of the Tsaritsa's palace in time for another one of the many activities Kunikuzushi forced you to attend every day. He liked to keep you too tired to resist even on your least busy days. Your ankles ached when you finally reached the dining hall, stopping just outside the door to catch your breath.
The other Harbinger's voices echoed through the long, rectangular room. Every room in this palace was dizzyingly huge, the sound of chatter amplified by the domed ceiling nearly giving you a headache. Right on time, the sound of the dinner bell rang through your ears. Time was up- you rushed into the room and dove into the empty seat reserved for you- right next to Kunikuzushi.
He side-eyed you from his seat, you could barely hear his whisper over the clinking of plates, "You're late again." You could never be punctual enough for him, if you weren't early, you were late. You rolled your eyes.
"I had to run here from the east wing," you whispered back harshly. If you two had been alone, you'd give him an earful about your busy schedule, but you know he wouldn't care anyways when he gives you that smug smile.
Moonbeams shone through the high-arched windows and illuminated the entire room in a silvery light. From the elegantly raised throne at the far end of the banquet table, the Tsaritsa's melodic voice addressed the table, and all the world seemed to fall silent to listen to her. Dinners in the palace were a regular occurance for you, but to be blessed with the Tsaritsa's presence was a special occasion. The guests at the table followed up the Tsaritsa's declaration by reciting a prayer to her grace. The chatter resumed like normal as the guests began to eat the finely prepared meats and treats.
A few other harbingers were accompanied by a 'plus-one,' such as yourself. You pitied the poor fools, as if your situation wasn't just as grim, shifting in your seat uncomfortably- all the harbingers looked at you with a certain hunger, insatiably scrutinizing you. These power-hungry creeps were the worst part about this place, and your so-called lover, the Balladeer, may have been the worst of them all.
You wore your disdain plainly on your face, glaring at any harbinger that dared to catch your gaze. Kunikuzushi notices, of course, and puts a possessive hand on your thigh, squeezing- his hand was so smooth and cold, the feeling pulls you away from your sour thoughts…
"Eat," he commands, quietly, but sternly. You look at some of the treats before you- fresh grapes, oranges, berries- hard to come by in this frozen desert. You pulled a grape from a vine and ate it, its juice was so sweet, you'd think it was picked today, but you found it so hard to hold your appetite. The Snezhnayan snow was so harsh… You hoped your family had enough food to last the winter.
The feeling of several pairs of eyes running up and down your body stays on you the whole dinner, you find yourself lost deep in your own thoughts trying to escape the discomfort. By the time all the dinner guests had their fill, the Tsaritsa's hypnotic voice sang to her small crowd once more, and suddenly the night was over and Kunikuzushi was leading you back to your shared room.
The room is dimly illuminated by moonlight until you carefully light candles around the room. You sigh, another day was nearly over and you felt like you'd achieved nothing. Your Balladeer seemed just as unamused, "You were cold during the dinner," he said, accusing, "I would almost think you don't appreciate what I do for you."
His statement seemed to trigger something within you, your face getting red and hot. You point your finger at him, "This is your fault! I hate this place and I hate you!" You huffed, the regret setting in almost instantly as you stared tentatively at Scaramouche, awaiting his reaction.
He glared at you with expected fury for a moment, but suddenly a calm seemed to wash over him, his expression softening. Now more sympathetic, his stormy eyes were half-lidded and clouded over. "I see," he said, closing the already-small gap between you, "You don't mean that. You just have so much pent-up stress," he said in a gentle, silky voice. His dainty hand caressed your flushed cheek, and you instinctively lean into his cool touch for relief from the hot blush in your face. You really did mean it, or at least, you were so sure when you said it. Maybe he was right…
He smirked at your reaction, slowly pushing you towards the plush armchair in the corner until the backs of your knees bent and you fell onto the seat. "Let me help you relax," he muttered, and your heart thumped, against your better judgement. He knelt on the chair with you, partially sitting on your lap, one knee pressed gracelessly against your groin.
You leaned back as far as you could into the chair, breathing heavily, trying to escape Kunikuzushi's rising body heat. You closed your eyes- and felt him start to grind himself against your thigh.
Your eyes flutter open and see that he was already staring at you, his face flushed red just like yours, thighs rhythmically sliding back and forth with some desperation. The lewd display alone is enough to make you hard, but then his hand touches your dick, and your mind instantly gets hazy. You use your free hands to wrap around Kuni's waist and guide him on your thigh as he eagerly stroked you off.
You couldn't bear the heat, pushing him off just long enough to strip your shirt. He makes use of that time to fall to his knees and unfasten your pants- freeing your erection. You watch with lustful fascination as he parts his porcelain pink lips and spreads his saliva along your tip. You blink slowly and throb with desire.
Kuni- your beloved Kuni, just as impatient, lowers his bottoms and slides back into your lap, slowly lowering himself onto your slick tip. You smile and return your hands to his waist, sighing with relief as you part his hole. His claws hold onto your shoulders tightly as he grinds along your lap, you shudder with pleasure. He rides you somewhat slowly, and you needily buck up into him.
He moans, and the beautiful sound rings in your hazy brain, you lose control, using your hold on his thighs to bounce him along your dick. You don't last much longer like this, releasing your pent-up energy into him. The lustful fog in your brain seems to clear, replaced with simple tiredness. Kunikuzushi sighs with relief, sliding off you and clothing himself.
"There. Feel better?" he snickers, mockingly. You're too tired to protest, simply refastening your pants and climbing into the nearby bed. He follows suit, sitting on the edge of the bed and gently pets your hair. "Don't worry," he coos, "You won't have to stay in this taxing place for long… I'll take you somewhere we can be together soon. Just the two of us…"
You're too tired to care about his words, instead, you drift off to sleep.

Shadow and Veil-Chapter Thirty Five
Tumblr media
Summary: Eva Moore’s life was a carefully constructed fiction.  Every day, she did exactly what her mother in law, her husband, and his  best friend expected of her. No mistakes. And, that was going pretty  well for Eva right up until a huge complication literally tried to run  her over. Now, she’s faced with trying to keep the pieces of her life  from falling apart while attempting (and failing) to keep her feelings  for her husband’s new business partner at bay.
A/N: This fic is a sister-fic to A Need So Great and A Need Unleashed.  You do not need to have read ANSG or ANU to read this fic, but there  are Easter eggs from those fics in Shadow and Veil for readers with keen  eyes.  This fic is explicit for canon-compliant blood, gore, violence,  and sex. As such, it is intended for an adult audience, only. A/B/O  dynamics come with their own warning. Anyone under the age of 18 should  not interact with this work. I do not consent to reposting this work to  other platforms. Reblog only to Tumblr.
Word Count: ~2,200
Start from the beginning    Previous Chapter  Next Chapter
Masterlist            Read on AO3
Eva stood in the kitchen, waiting for a fresh pot of coffee to brew. It was almost lunchtime and she’d already taken her normal route around the neighborhood. There were no new job openings to inquire about, so she bought a piece of fruit from the vendor and wandered around until she got tired. Then, aware of the time, she headed home and turned on the next episode of Sergio and Maria’s story.
Luz had no idea that Sergio was struggling with the question of whether or not he would go through with marrying her. She spent most of the episode filling out invitations and looking for dresses. Maria, on the other hand, was drowning her sorrows in tequila with her best friend who was encouraging her to seek out her long lost love. All in all, Eva found it very entertaining.
The ring of the phone startled her during a commercial break. Eva picked it up with a tentative ‘hello?’
Horacio’s voice came through, “Eva, did I leave my lunch on the kitchen counter?”
Leaning around the doorway, she looked for it, “Yes, you did.”
“Would you mind bringing it to me?” He asked, “I would normally just get something here, but I was looking forward to the leftovers.”
Eva sympathized with him. If she hadn’t eaten every scrap of food on her plate, she would be looking forward to the leftovers, too.  “I can do that,” she replied, already reaching for the phone book to call a cab. “You’re at your office today?”
“Sí,” then, “Gracias, Amorcita.”
Eva smiled wide even though he couldn’t see her, “You’re welcome. I’ll come right over.”
After hanging up with Horacio, Eva dialed a cab company and very carefully asked for a ride from her home to Horacio’s office. The person on the other side of the line didn’t seem bothered by her stilted speech and gave her a wait time of twenty minutes. It was plenty for Eva to get cleaned up and make herself presentable.
She knew that there was little that she could do about the fact that she stuck out in a crowd. Eva was a foreigner and too new to the country to effectively hide how American she was. She just had to try her best to make a good impression wherever she went, especially if she was going to Horacio’s office. As long as she was polished and polite to his coworkers, it probably wouldn’t matter too much that she was from an entirely different hemisphere.
She selected her outfit with care. Her sartorial choices were limited, but she had enough accessories to add a little flash here and there. After stepping into her heels, she put some money in a handbag and went to the kitchen to grab Horacio’s lunchbox.
The cab pulled into the driveway and Eva gave the address to the driver. Along the way, she attempted to memorize the route. It was further away than she’d been, aside from the first trip from the airport. The neat houses gave way to a highway flanked by trees until the car reached the outskirts of the city, proper.
Most of the buildings were uniform concrete with official looking signs. Eva made note of a medical center about half a block from where the cab eventually pulled to a stop. There was also a post office and general store. In the distance, Eva spotted a small park with children running through it.
She paid the driver and got out, smoothing her skirt nervously before climbing the steps to the front door. While she walked, Eva practiced the translation for ‘hello, I’m looking for my husband, Captain Carrillo’ in her head. The closer she got to the doors, the more nervous she became. When she cleared the stairs, Eva made herself stop and take a deep breath. She was just a wife dropping off lunch to her husband. No big deal.
Another fortifying breath and Eva breezed into the lobby as if she belonged there. She found a secretary who patiently listened to her inquiry. A moment later and she was standing in an elevator staring as a sticky note with short directions written on it. The doors opened and she stepped out, looking both ways to find an office number.
At the end of the hall, Eva dropped down a short set of stairs to an open floor littered with desks. The sound of people talking was muffled by the click of typewriters and the loud scratch of a fax machine printing in the corner. Eva paused at the base of the stairs so that she could scan the room for Horacio. It didn’t take her long to spot him.
Moving quickly through the spacious room, Horacio’s purposeful steps carried him alongside another officer. He was speaking to them in words she couldn’t hear, but the tone was clear: This is what I want, and this is how I want it. It was a tone that she knew intimately and just hearing it made her skin prickle.
Other officers noted Horacio’s approach long before he got there. Eva watched their bodies stiffen and move out of the way to let him through. It wasn’t the first time she’d seen him part a crowd just by walking towards it and Eva had always assumed that it was a Diego thing. That the danger Diego represented was telegraphed so acutely that anyone could sense it.
Evidently, it was a Horacio thing.
Eva quickly calculated where he might be going and easily found her entry point when a group of officers scurried off down another hallway. She put herself in Horacio’s path and waited for him to spot her.
She waited about seven seconds.
Horacio locked eyes with her and the ambient sounds of the room dimmed. His mouth pulled up into a smile and he seemed to completely forget that he was speaking to someone. The even stride shortened and quickened as he made his way towards her. When he got close, both hands reached out to grasp her hips.
He kissed her cheek lightly, “You brought lunch?”
Eva held up his lunchbox, “I brought lunch.”
The officer he had been talking to stood off to the side, watching their interaction with interest. If the expression on his face was anything to go on, Eva thought seeing Horacio kiss someone in public was a rare event that would later result in gentle ribbing between them.
Horacio took the lunchbox from her and stepped to the side, “Eva, this is Officer Trujillo. Trujillo, this is my wife.”
Like the last time he introduced her, Eva’s heart fluttered at the way he said ‘my wife’. No hesitation. No stumbling over the word. No derision or sarcasm in his tone. Just a simple statement of unequivocal fact.
“Mrs. Carrillo,” the officer greeted, “its nice to finally meet you.”
Eva smiled, “Its nice to meet you, too. And, thank you for finding the house for us. We’re very grateful.”
Trujillo dipped his head in acknowledgment, “You’re welcome. Besides, what else was I supposed to do when I heard the Major went to America and got married without telling anyone.”
“Major?”
Horacio shifted on his feet, “Ah. I got promoted this morning. I was going to tell you when I got home.”
“That’s wonderful!” she gasped.
Trujillo stepped forward and slapped Horacio on the shoulder, “I’m looking forward to hearing how you managed to bring down that American doctor. We could use some new strategies.”
Eva felt her smile freeze in place.
Horacio, bless him, noticed, “I’ll let you know when I’ve scheduled the training. Right now, I’m going to have lunch.”
Trujillo waved him off with a grin and Horacio guided Eva away with a hand on the small of her back. They walked to an office that was in disarray. Boxes and filing cabinets were half opened. The desk was covered in accordion files that were bursting at the seams. On the far wall was a couch that had even more boxes stacked on top of it.
Horacio closed the door behind them, “Sorry about…”
Eva shook her head, “He doesn’t know. Its fine. Just caught me off guard.”
He looked at her a moment more before he seemed to accept her answer. Eva watched him walk around his desk and kneel down. The sound of rustling preceded the distinct chime of a microwave starting.
“So, new promotion and a new office?”
Head lifting so that he looked at her from just above the edge of his desk, Horacio replied, “Something like that. I’m supposed to head a task force to hunt down drug dealers.”
She huffed an amused laugh, “I’d say you have a head start on the job.”
He stood, “Yes. I think so.” A tilt of his head, “I doubt it will be nearly as exciting as playing a drug dealer. But, I’ll manage.”
Sauntering over to him, Eva said, “I wouldn’t toss Diego aside so quickly. You might need him back someday.”
There was something in his expression that flinched, but he covered it smoothly by pulling his mouth into a very Diego-like smirk, “I’m sure Diego would be thrilled to hear you think so highly of him.”
Eva turned her shoulders coyly and scrunched her face, “Have to say: When I first met him? Total asshole. But, he grew on me.”
Horacio took her hand and held it loosely, “You’re right. He was an asshole. But, he was efficient. And, I never would have met you without him.”
He was right. If Diego hadn’t stormed into her life, Eva would still be living in that stupid fucking house surrounded by pretty things and slowly dying inside.
“I’m glad I met him,” she murmured.
“Me, too.”
The microwave dinged. Horacio knelt down and carefully pulled the Tupperware from it and cleared off a space on his desk. He sat in a rolling chair and gestured for her to take on of the two chairs opposite.
“We’ll share,” he announced, picking up the fork.
Eva sat and leaned her elbows on the desk, “That’s very gracious of you.”
With a bright hum, Horacio passed her the fork so that she could take a bite, “I’m glad you liked the restaurant. We should go back soon.”
“We should,” she agreed, “We have a promotion to celebrate.”
“Its not a big deal.”
Eva pointed the fork at him, “It is a big deal. You said it, yourself. The whole point of going to Louisiana was so that you could get this promotion. And, look, here it is. You did it.”
Horacio took the fork from her, “I had help. Your help, actually.”
She rolled her eyes, “Yeah, I was a big help while I had a complete mental breakdown and cried for, like, six months.”
“It wasn’t an easy situation.”
He had a point, but Eva refused to allow it, “And, I didn’t make it any easier.”
Horacio chewed thoughtfully, “I don’t need the promotion to be happy with what happened. I got something better.”
How was she supposed to argue with him when he was saying such sweet things? Eva shook her head ruefully, but let him have the win. He forked another bite into his mouth instead of gloating.
Eva’s gaze shifted to the mountain of files on his desk, “Are these your first cases, Major?”
Before he could answer, her eyes caught the familiar Ardent logo. She laid a hand on the file and looked at him in question.
“I,” he began in a long, drawn out syllable, “got an update faxed in from Javier. Its about the trial.”
Her chest clenched, “Oh?”
“The evidence we gathered was very, very good and the DA was suggesting a minimum sentence of twenty years.”
“That’s good, right?”
He nodded, “But, a few days ago, he fled. They’re not sure where he went—he covered his tracks pretty well.”
Eva couldn’t speak around the fear that began to bubble up from her stomach and into her throat. The food in her mouth suddenly felt like lead.
Horacio caught her attention, “He won’t get close to you. I’ve already flagged him at every airport in the country. That’s if he figures out that you’re here, which he won’t.”
She remembered the extra measures he took while they made their way to Colombia. Meticulously, Eva walked through them, looking for weaknesses that Josh might be able to exploit. They were few and far between, but they were there.
The best plan would be for the authorities to catch up with Josh and put him behind bars. But, where…?
“I know where he is,” she said.
Horacio’s brows rose, “You do?”
Eva nodded, “He’s in Mexico. Before everything went to shit, he said that he wanted to move the operation.”
Picking up a pen and notepad, Horacio began to write, “Did he say where in Mexico?”
She shook her head, “No, but I would look for manufacturing towns—places where he could create a new company and start over. Somewhere that he could export the product back into the US.”
He wrote down her words with bullet points and set down the pen, “What was that about not helping, again?”

Some shots from the village at night. I had to brighten them up a bit but didn't expect them to look this nice overall. The village is very rustic so the only lighting comes from the fires and candles inside the houses.
