My favs will be bolded.
I use makeup for expression purposes; makeup has no gender babes.

Get Their Makeup Look! Ft. The Chocobros of Final Fantasy XV
Gladiolus Amiticia - Spicebomb Extreme eu de cologne by Viktor&Rolf, Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer (’23.5 Medium Amber’ - for warm undertones) by IT Cosmetics, Burt’s Bees ‘Rose’ Tinted Lip Balm, Josie Maran’s Whipped Argan Oil Body Butter
Ignis Scientia - Invictus Platinum Eau de Parfum by Paco Rabanne, Luminous Silk Foundation (‘4.5′ - light to medium, neutral) by Armani Beauty, ‘Rosewood’ Maximizer Plumping Gloss by Dior, ‘Taupe’ Brow Wiz® Pencil by Anastasia Beverly Hills
Noctis Lucis Caelum - Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme by Chanel, Tinted Moisturizer Natural Skin Perfector (‘2W1 Natural’ - light warm) by Laura Mercier, ‘Rasperry’ Glow Oil by Dior, Ouai Finishing Crème
Prompto Argentum - Old Spice ‘Wolfthorn’ Stick Deodorant, Lock-It Concealer Crème (‘Light 13′ - light bisque with cool undertone) by KVD Beauty, Covergirl’s ‘Sassy Mauve’ Outlast Lip Stain, Bed Head Manipulator Texturizing Putty
Why these picks? Well, check out my explanation below!
Gladio almost never wears makeup or perfume. Most days, he’s the ‘take a shower, throw some random sport deodorant on’ sort of guy, and actual cosmetics are only in his possession for fancy, Crown-related events. If it wasn’t for his family putting their foot down on a teenage Gladio, he’d attend dress parties with not even a splash of aftershave.
He used to resent wearing any sort of makeup ‘cause he grew up sort of forced into it, but as he got older (and thanks to Iris’ passive influence), he re-discovered the magic of concealer and tinted lip balm. So now he’s got some products he falls back on, if he’s feeling it. Not all of them bought on his own dime, either; some were gifts from friends and family. You can tell which he bought himself, ‘cause he never does any research into brands and just randomly buys whatever salon/boutique product off the shelf whenever he stops by the mall Sephora after splurging at Fontana.
The Spicebomb Extreme eu de cologne by Viktor&Rolf was 100% a tongue-in-cheek gift by either Ignis, or a cousin. They took one look at the - frankly, ridiculous - grenade-shaped bottle and thought it was the perfectly “hhh manly” thing for his 20th birthday. (And they made sure to get the version with ‘Extreme’ in the name.) But scent-wise, it matches Gladio pretty well, with warm spices, lavender, and the grapefruit/vanilla lends it a surprising amount of sweetness. And it’s a strong scent, too, very long lasting, so if he spends all day swinging his sword, it’s still gonna stick.
His old tube of Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer (’23.5 Medium Amber’ - for warm undertones) by IT Cosmetics is one makeup item he bought himself, after a morning spent hemming and hawing over this huge zit until a 14-year-old Iris shut him up with some borrowed concealer. He was so impressed, he’s been using concealers ever since, if he wants to hide some blemishes or dark circles. He just grabbed the same brand Iris was using at the time, using the little square on the package to guesstimate the color match, and it took three years before a kind sales associate actually found a concealer with his exact skintone. But even still, he’s not particularly aware (or caring) that his summer/winter skintones don’t quite match the concealer either. He doesn’t use any tools, just haphazardly patting it on with his fingers, which sometimes makes it blotchy. But hey, it’s waterproof, which is a huge help to a sweaty guy like him.
As far as lips go, his family is one of those that grew up insisting their kids always moisturize. So he’s always been using lip balm, and if he wants to add a bit of color onto his lips to hide the greyness, he uses his Burt’s Bees ‘Rose’ Tinted Lip Balm which he not only thinks smells and feels really good, it does indeed swatches the perfect amount of pink. He grew up in a world where guys are wearing makeup all the time (fantasy Shinjuku-Tokyo), and there’s lots of lip tinting products geared for subtle pinks and reds, but he doesn’t want to wear a sticky lip gloss that doesn’t moisturize or provide SPF.
For those who have no idea what kind of present Gladio would like, fancy lotions are your best bet. Especially after he got inked and the extensive aftercare involved careful moisturizing, Gladio got hooked on making sure all his skin is forever smooth and hydrated. In fact, he’s got so many moisturizers as gifts, he hasn’t had to buy any himself for a while. His Josie Maran’s Whipped Argan Oil Body Butter is one of his favorites, even if there’s not a lot in the pot; there’s a very light but clean scent, it dries fast but lends a lot of moisture, and it’s delicate enough for his face and hands, too.
Ignis actually does make an effort to spend his hard-earned money on luxury cosmetics. And he owns more than I showed here - translucent powders, eyeliner pencils, contour kits, setting sprays, etc. And that’s not even getting into his skincare products. He had horrible acne as a teen (you can still see the icepick scars if you look closely), but being a pizza face doesn’t mean he could skip his retainer-in-training duties, so he’d coat his face with cheap drugstore foundation before heading to the Citadel. Little by little, he learned better cosmetic techniques, and before long, he was a true connoisseur just like me, hehe.
He doesn’t wear every product daily, but he won’t walk out the door without something on. He’s been wearing makeup for so long, people’d notice if he didn’t at least conceal his under-eye bags, or apply pore-minimizing powder. Unlike the other boys, he’s actually very ambivalent about how he looks with makeup, not any better nor worse than barefaced - when you wear makeup as long as Ignis has, especially with his uneven skin texture, wearing makeup tends to look like exactly what it is; creamy, powdery stuff. The Ignis we see in-game actually isn’t wearing makeup most of the time, ‘cause he doesn’t have to worry about representing the prince to nobles and council members.
Invictus Platinum Eau de Parfum by Paco Rabanne is ‘his’ cologne. He almost never wears anything else (aside from some unscented deodorant/aftershave), ‘cause 'professional adults’ don’t switch between perfumes every day. It’s minty and citrusy with a twist of absinthe, and an underbite of the lighter, more pine-adjacent cypress wood. He takes that extra step to ensure that all his bodily scents match this perfume, such as his hair pomade and moisturizer, so there’s no clashing. And at 14,000¥ for 100 ml, you bet he’s gonna make sure the cologne is what you’re smelling.
As any blemish-prone person will tell you, the right liquid foundation is a make-it-or-break-it deal. Luminous Silk Foundation (‘4.5′ - light to medium, neutral) by Armani Beauty is not the only foundation he owns (just his go-to), and definitely far from the only foundation he’s ever tried. A medium coverage - applied with a brush and sponge - is best for textured skin like his. Its natural finish means his skin’s not gonna look like linoleum after the powder and setting spray. The pump component means he can deposit product onto a clean brush to minimize contamination and therefore more acne breakouts. And its bougie brand means he feels dignified whenever he sees it on his bathroom counter.
‘Rosewood’ Maximizer Plumping Gloss by Dior is amongst the few makeup items he usually doesn’t wear. His lips are naturally pigmented and full, but if he wants to emphasize them even more, he’s gonna go all out with a very lightly tinted gloss that has just a tiniest bit of glitter, and that numbing effect that’ll swell your lips slightly. It’s also hydrating and contains very little agents that can harm sensitive skin. And when he does wear it, it’s only a minimal swathe and not the full gloss. You can catch him with it during fancy balls.
If I had to only choose four makeup items for Ignis, I had to skip over all his skincare stuff, hair care/styling products, his concealer, his powder, sprays, mascara, etc, and include his ‘Taupe’ Brow Wiz® Pencil by Anastasia Beverly Hills. In his firm belief, well-groomed eyebrows frame the entire face, making it all looked that much more manicured. With an eyebrow pencil, he can make the hair look darker, or change the general shape, or add the illusion of extra hairs for a fuller look. He also likes how the creamy texture of the product means he can use it on his lashline for a subtle eyeliner, too.
Noctis is more like Gladio; not gonna go out of his way to use makeup, but doesn’t hate it either. Most of the time, his makeup is done for him by the royal Citadel makeup artists for certain public events, or photoshoots, etc. Any makeup he does actually own are haphazardly kept in some dusty desk drawer, lightly leaking and possibly expired. He knows he looks especially good with makeup, he’s just a lazy boy who can’t be bothered unless it’s not him making the effort.
His makeup artists, in fact, cake a lot of makeup on him, ‘cause his skin can take tons of product without looking too artificial. On his own, though, he rarely throws on even a tinted moisturizer before going to hit the town. That’s not even getting into his skincare routine, which is to say, is nonexistent. He’s lucky for having good genes and slightly-oily skin, otherwise he’d be a pimply, ashy gremlin. But his makeup artists actually have influenced him a bit, he uses the correct tools and trusted brands ... when he decides to wear any at all.
Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme by Chanel is a cologne he keeps at his desk. His makeup artists usually just hand him a bottle of whatever in the middle of painting his face, and he’ll obediently spray it on without even looking at the bottle (if he accidentally sprays his clothes, he gets an earful from the wardrobe department). This bottle was just unceremoniously given to him by his lead makeup artist after it was discovered he didn’t have any proper perfume. He doesn’t even remember if he ever wore it, since, for some reason, the makeup artists seem to spray a different cologne every time they attend him. Despite its name and weird packaging, its a pretty generic, ‘luxury man’ scent, like if Abercrombie And Fitch was less headache-inducing.
Tinted Moisturizer Natural Skin Perfector (‘2W1 Natural’ - light warm) by Laura Mercier is a sheer, protective liquid foundation he picked up on his own. He wanted something to use whenever he felt the urge to pursue that pretty ‘doll look’ his makeup artists aimed for, so the boutique clerks helped him find something casual, but full of protectorates 'cause no one wanted to be the sales associate that gave the prince a face full of whiteheads. And as said before, he applies it properly, with a stiffer-bristled brush to properly manipulate its lightweight, slightly oily consistency. Except he doesn’t clean his brushes ever, which is gross but hey, it’s Noctis, what did you expect.
If there’s any part of his face that shows his lackluster skincare, it’d be his ashy grey, chapped-as-all-hell lips. Like his cologne, his makeup artists one day kindly asked if he’d like a lip tint recommendation, and he just shrugged, so they handed over a ‘Raspberry’ Glow Oil by Dior. It’s not quite a sticky gloss, not an actual thin oil, it’s something in-between. There isn’t a whole lot of color (which was a smart move on the makeup artist’s part ‘cause you can’t trust a 17-year-old Noctis with lip color intensity) but its definitely moisturizing. He doesn’t usually wear this one not just ‘cause he’s lazy, but also because it has this really strong, minty-vanilla scent right under his nose all day.
Ouai Finishing Crème is the only hair product he’s ever bought, and he actually does like it a lot. Benefits of having access to a celebrity beauty team means he’s got a haircut that looks good no matter what, but adding this cream to his wet hair makes it look extra lively after it dries, and gets rid of all his minimal frizz. He’s got that Asian hair texture which requires different hair styling products, anything too wet or slick just weighs it down and makes it look even more like low-budget Sasuke. He also likes its strong, romantic, gardenia flower smell, which is so strong he claims he doesn’t need his fancy cologne if he’s wearing this.
Prompto’s a lower-middle class, paycheck-to-paycheck boy, so most of his makeup is from the drugstore. Even his boutique brands are on the cheaper side - instead of La Mer and Pat McGrath, he buys Makeup Forever and Colourpop for his splurges. The only non-drugstore items he buys are those he doesn’t particularly trust to be cheap - foundations and concealer. And even then, he feels guilty so he rations them out, sometimes mixing the product with a cheaper alternative to stretch it out.
He wears makeup more often than people might think, and more of it than you might assume. But because of its low quality, no matter how much finessing he does, he ends up looking no better afterwards. Which, if you ask those who know him, is because he’s darn cute already, but according to him its because he just sucks at applying it. His insecurities always pushes him to look his ‘best’, which means concealer for his eye bags.
Despite its hardcore packaging and weird ‘Mountain Man’ name, Old Spice ‘Wolfthorn’ Stick Deodorant is actually a very sweet, tangeriney scent. Prompto enjoys cute things more than ‘manly’ things, and he actually likes how artificially sugary this deodorant is. He wears it religiously, ‘cause with how anxious he gets, without an antiperspirant he’ll quickly smell like an old taco truck. During the warmer, shorts-wearing seasons, he’ll apply it between his thighs just in case.
Lock-It Concealer Crème (‘Light 13′ - light bisque with cool undertone) by KVD Beauty is one of the cheaper boutique makeup brands, boasting high coverage without the luxury price. Prompto’s so pale, very few cheaper brands carry his skintone without looking orange, this being one of them. He’s got a drugstore-bought sponge to bounce it around his eyes and blemishes, ‘cause its so thick and matte, fingers only smudge it unevenly. You can tell if he’s wearing this if some of his freckles mysteriously disappear one morning. When he learned about the controversial drama surrounding KVD Beauty over Instagram, he had a dilemma over whether to try to find another cheap-but-has-pasty-white-skintone brand. When he finishes this tube, he’ll consider buying from Fenty instead.
Covergirl’s ‘Sassy Mauve’ Outlast Lip Stain is a water-based product that is truly a stain, unlike those named the same but are more like lip glosses or liquid lipsticks. It goes on slighty silky, but quickly mattes down to a more natural finish. Problem is, being water-based means it looks very natural, but it also smudges and fades very quickly from natural mouth moisture. Prompto thinks that’s why they made it taste so good, ‘cause you’re gonna be eating most of it within a couple hours. But as a stain, it’ll still deposit some more permanent color for the rest of the day. It gives him a cute, peony pout.
There’s a lot of hair gel in the world, but Bed Head Manipulator Texturizing Putty is Prompto’s go-to for shaping that scene-kid quiff. His fine blonde hair takes to putty-based formulas the best, and this one is the least sticky, oily, and sweat resistant for his dollar. It’s still not the best, it smells pretty bad (it’s supposed to be ‘tropical fruit’ but more like ‘expired rubber’) and it won’t last more than seven hours, god forbid its humid or raining. If any of his richer friends wanted to buy a cosmetic gift for him, the best choice wouldn’t be makeup but a proper hair putty. If he didn’t use so much in one sitting, Prompto’d be very willing to splurge on salon-quality hair putty. As of now, though, he’s got at least two pots in his bathroom at all times - and in his locker at the Glaive training wing, to use after showering.

ok so now that we have the playlist you must give us the scarlett summer state of the union!
THANK you for asking. i’ve thought VERY long and hard about this and in true massie block fashion i’ll give both what’s in and what’s out.
IN:
midi/maxi skirts, but mini dresses. maybe it’s because i wear midi/maxi dresses all year long & i can swap up the midi/maxi skirt look w a tank-top or something but i LOVE a mini dress in the summer. all sundresses rock though.
sunscreen. put it on. every day. MULTIPLE times a day if you’re spending a lot of time outside (which you should)
walking two hours MINIMUM a day. this can be around your neighborhood, but if you have the opportunity to get some sort of state park/national park pass you def should. AND BRING A FRIEND!
tinted chapstick/lipbalm. i like the burt’s bees kind in the color rose.
sweet/floral perfume. my go-to perfume remains miss dior (just had a seventh grader stop me during work time to tell me it smelled good every time i walked past his table)
BIG salads. with a variety of vegetables and a variety of colors and some kind of grain (i like salads with rice noodles in them) & some sort of protein (i like salmon and tofu)
trash books. this does not mean they’re BAD they’re just like candy for your brain. romance novels fast-paced thrillers and young adult books you can finish in an hour. spring is for hefty classics, summer is for lucy foley
ALWAYS have vegetables & fruit cut up in the fridge for easy snacks. i also suggest having hummus on hand always for vegetables. i also always have chips and salsa available.
FARMERS MARKET! go to one.
linen pants. they are so breezy so comfortable and perfect for june
matching pj sets. perfect for sleepovers which are perfect for making summer feel like it did when you were a kid.
mojitos are my go-to summer cocktail but mocktail wise, a mint lemonade or soda w/ mint and lavender is also fun.
tinted moisturizer or skin tint + liquid blush is my fave combo. i have not found a better liquid blush than rare beauty’s (i wear the shade happy). i literally do not think i will ever run out of this blush. i usually use drugstore brand foundations/face products
lighting candles in the morning as you’re getting ready. like a middle aged woman i prefer the bath and body works candles but i will get any scent that’s fresh like a clean linen candle <3 i get the same scents my grandma used to
OUT:
the idea of a base tan. do NOT go out without sunscreen just to get tan. be nice to your skin.
the idea of ‘clean eating’. it’s fun to eat more veggies & fruits in the summer that are in season but this makes me feel icky.
the concept of a ‘hot girl walk’. booooo summer is not about. being hot except like, literally. go on the walks bc they connect u to the people u love and to nature.
dressing in a way u don’t like just because it’s ‘on-trend’. i don’t like mini skirts, i’m not gonna wear mini-skirts. in summer especially it’s more important than anything to wear clothes you’re comfortable in.
anyone but me having a birthday. booo!
having parasocial relationships online. the weather is nice, go outside with real people.
BRAS!!!!

ah ok any tinted moisturizer or bb cream (i like the maybelline bb cream) try to match the shade to your jawline but since it’s not a foundation its ok to be a little off since it’s sheer! i also love the maybelline fit me concealer (i’ve used like 4 tubes and still go back) i use that just to cover dark spots or any acne.
honestly if youre trying to stay natural theres no need to contour or anything. but some blush is nice and adds color back to your face! i like cream blushes (the milani ones are great! pick a shade you like or go by your skin tone- id give a color rec but idk your skin tone lol)
some mascara is always good! you don’t really need eyeliner imo. and for lips, some lipgloss or tinted chapstick is great! i like the maybelline lip lifter lip gloss but also theres other great ones! and for tinted chapstick i go for burt’s bees.
if you want any other recs or color recs or something (or if you want a more highend rec for any product) let me know!
i love makeup and exploring it even though i always wear a natural look lol
AHHH thank you so much!! do you use a beauty blender or? also do you share test your concealer the same way?

What makeup do you wear daily
Brown mascara, brown khôl around the top eyelid, barely there, a dash of highlighter on eyelid, inner corner of eye, and the remains on nose. Brown eyeshadow on eyebrows, just to fill them in a bit. Lip tint + lip gloss on lips if I go unmasked.
If I want some more uniform skin tone, I just apply some loose powder on top of my moisturizer. It settle downs and forms a slight tint that doesn't looks cakey.
Brands I like: Burt's bees (mascara, lip), Clinique (lips, mascara), Rimmel (matte powder, theirs is the best imho and works for almost paperwhite skin, their other products are meh), Cetaphil (skincare! I use their sensitive skin moisturizer for my face and body), Estate (dew me baked highlighter), Marcelle (khôl, hypoallergenic, works really well for my hypersensitive eyes) Roche Posay (rétinol). I like Etude House Dear Darling series for their lip tints, but wasn't able to get some recently. Soon!
I tend to work heavily on high-quality skincare, washing and applying cream daily, sunscreen if necessary (I hate the scent of sunscreens so I try to wear hats, stay out the sun etc). I went to several derms for assertions of skin issues, too.
That way, my skin is shiny and healthy and no further foundation/concealer/whatever is necessary and I think my skin is better because of that. No occluded pores, no nasty chemicals applied on skin, etc. A natural look is in my honest opinion, the best way to look as attractive as possible 💎

my updated makeup routines✨
i love love love makeup. my favorite thing to do is to switch it up and find new products and techniques that work really well with my features. since the summer has started and i’ve had much more free time, i’ve been playing around with my makeup styles and how i do my makeup for different occasions. as of right now, i have three makeup routines: my everyday “no makeup” makeup, my everyday glam routine, and my full glam routine. keep in mind, i have very oily skin so some of these techniques won’t work well for everyone!
“no makeup” makeup
Tumblr media Tumblr media
my grocery shopping/running errands look. if i had ten minutes to do my makeup, this is the routine i would go for. not long-wearing, but it helps me look more “put together” when i’m being a bum.
base:
my first step is to use a primer. for primer, i use the elf putty primer to fill in my pores so i look smooth, then over top i use a gripping primer to keep my makeup on my face. i like the milk hydrogrip and the elf watermelon primers.
next, i powder my face either with the maybelline loose setting powder or the fenty powder foundation so i have a bit more coverage but also so my oily skin won’t break down my base makeup as quickly.
for “foundation”, i use the glossier skin tint mixed with the covergirl matte bb cream. the glossier skin tint is not good if you have oily skin, but combined with the bb cream it is much more long wearing. i either use my fingers or a beauty blender.
then i bronze, and i put that on my cheeks, forehead, nose, and blend it into my eye socket and under my eyebrows, flicking up once i get to my temples. this emphasizes my bone structure in a way that’s more natural looking than contour. i really like the covergirl queen bronzer.
moving on to blush, i use the milk cheek stick from sephora or the cream blush stick from colourpop. i put it on my cheeks, nose, and some on my chin and forehead to make everything look put together.
eyes:
i prime my eyelids with my eyeshadow primer and swipe some of my blush onto my lids so everything looks a bit more “effortless”.
next I do my brows. i use the maybelline brow pencil in a shade that matches my real eyebrow hair color. i continually brush through them with a spoolie so they look natural, and rub my bronzer on the beginning of them so it doesn’t look as harsh.
for my lashes, i heat my eyelash curler, curl my lashes, apply a brown tubing mascara, and curl again. the mascara i use is the maybelline snapscara in the shade brown since it looks more natural than black. i also use a lash serum to promote growth.
lips:
for my lips, i use a red chapstick to give my lips a “naturally” red look (either the dior lip balm or burts bees), a light pink lipgloss in the middle, and the fenty gloss bomb in hot chocolit as a “liner” that looks more natural and moisturized.

everyday glam makeup
Tumblr media Tumblr media
very heavily inspired by the victoria’s secret angels. definitely more “high trust” than my full glam routine, kind of a “cute” look instead of a “sexy” one. plays with shimmer, pink tones, highlight, more of an effortless vibe. if you guys remember my fashion post, this ties into the girly & romantic aesthetic.
base:
my priming step is the same here, and i still set my primer with powder before going in with the rest of my makeup.
tinted moisturizer!!! to get my perfect shade and finish, i mix the covergirl matte bb cream for oily skin with the glossier skin tint like above.
for concealer i use the colourpop tinted moisturizer on the areas i want to highlight. for extra brightening, i use the maybelline fit me concealer in a shade thats way lighter than my skin tone and i put a small amount on the bridge of my nose to give it some extra depth.
instead of contour i use bronzer. bronzer is used to bring warmth to the face, so it is important to place bronzer in the places the sun would naturally hit/tan you. bronzer is not the same as contour; bronzer is always warm toned (hence bringing warmth/making you look tanner) and contour is always cool or neutral toned (because it is supposed to mimic shadows). putting bronzer where you put your contour can make your makeup look muddy, and a lot of bronzers contain shimmer which you don’t want in a contour. i put my bronzer on my cheeks and forehead with a big fluffy brush for a sun kissed look, and with a smaller brush i put a little at the top of my nose bridge. it adds depth and makes it look like i contoured my nose without me having to actually do it.
then i set my concealer. i use the maybelline fit me powder in the shade medium, press my beauty blender into the powder, dab the excess off on the back of my hand, and then i press the powder into my skin.
for this look, i prefer to look more youthful than snatched. so for blush, i like to put it on the apples of my cheeks and the tip of my nose. i use shimmery powder blush, and my favorites are the baked milani blushes or the elf blush palette for dark skin.
i highlight my skin with the shimmer color i put on my eyelid in order for things to look more cohesive. since i have some texture in the center of my cheeks, i keep my highlight closer to my temples, on the tip of my nose, and down the bridge. i then take a brighter glitter eyeshadow and, using a more precise brush, put that right in the center of the areas on my nose that i highlighted for more dimension.
eyes:
i do my eyeshadow before my eyebrows now.
for eyeshadow, i usually put my bronzer in my crease and my outer v, and sometimes blend that out with a lighter/skin tone shade. on the lid, i put a light shimmer eyeshadow for contrast. on the inner corner, i use a very bright glitter eyeshadow, and lightly blend it onto the beginning of my lid. i also use the same eyeshadows on my bottom lid.
i use a tubing mascara since it’s gentle on the eyelashes, then i go in with regular mascara to make my lashes longer. my favorite regular mascaras are damn girl from toofaced (it has an antiflaking formula), the kush mascara from milk, and the maybelline lash sensational. all the mascaras i like are for lengthening. i also curl my lashes before and after putting on mascara.
this is when i do my eyebrows. i use a spoolie to shape them into a shape i like. using a pencil a shade or two lighter than my actual eyebrow color, i fill in the sparse areas and try to make my eyebrows as even as possible.
for fake lashes, i usually use half lashes or wispy lashes. i like the ardell demi-wispies (i cut these in half and stack them), the kiss lashes in matte silk, the kiss lashes in teddy, and the koko lashes in queen bees. the idea is for people to still be able to see the eyeshadow despite me having lashes on.
lips:
since the base and eyes are the main focus of this look, the lips are always kept nude. i line my lips with a brown lipliner close to my skin tone (i use colourpop’s lipliner in BFF #3) and then fill it in with either a brown nude lipstick (sephora’s rouge lacquer lipstick in shade 43 be proud) and too with a clear gloss, or i fill it in with a pink/peachy nude and top with the fenty gloss bomb in the original shade.

Tumblr media Tumblr media
this is my full beat look. if i’m going out at night with my friends, or when i want makeup to be especially long-wearing, this is usually the routine i follow. 90s supermodel inspired, soft glam, fully matte, snatched/lifted, all nude/brown tones. lines up with my minimalistic & edgy style.
base:
during the colder months, i like to use a pore-filling primer with a gripping primer on top, usually the elf putty primer in original or matte, and the elf watermelon primer or the milk hydrogrip primer like i said before. but during the summer, i have to use the becca ever-matte primer. it has a huge learning curve, but once you know how to use it, it’s a godsend for oily skin.
my first step is contour. i use the too faced born this way concealer in a color two shades darker than my skin tone and always with a cool undertone to mimic shadows. i put a small amount on my cheekbones to make them look higher, three lines on my forehead for depth, and i line my jawline to give the illusion of a smaller chin. then, i blend everything together with a beauty blender. to make it easy, you can use whatever concealer you like in a darker shade as a cream contour.
next i conceal. i use the teint idole concealer from lancôme in one shade lighter than my skin tone, and i put concealer in all the places i want to highlight: under my eyes (a little by the sides of my nose, a line on the outside of my eye to lift), above my top lip, the middle of my forehead and chin, and a strip down my nose bridge. a little of this concealer goes a long way; i use less than half a pea-size for my entire face. for a little extra brightening, i use a really light colored concealer but only one dot in the inner corners of my eyes and a little on the nose bridge. for this, i just use the maybelline fit me concealer. before i add my foundation and blush, i make sure there are no harsh lines between my concealer and contour.
i use a cream blush. to everyone who wears makeup, look into cream blush. it’ll change your life for the better. blush is an underrated but very important step in my makeup routine; blush can shape your face even better than contour. when i want my face to look lifted and sultry, i put my blush on my cheekbones close to my hairline and blend upwards. i use either the milk makeup cheek stick or the colourpop stick blush.
finally i go in with my fenty powder foundation. using a kabuki brush, i tap into my compact and then add the foundation to the parts of my face which have no concealer, blush, or contour first. then, i lightly go over my contour and blush, and around the edges of my concealer. this really saves you if you haven’t blended very well or went too heavy handed on the liquid products you used, since going over it with your skin toned powder tones the contour etc. down. i use the fenty powder foundation. it is very lightweight feeling in comparison to liquid foundation, and it never feels like i have a mask of product on my face when i use a powder. however, some of my favorite liquid foundations are the estee lauder double wear (full coverage matte), the too faced born this way (both the matte and regular versions), the fenty soft matte, and the anastasia beverly hills luminous foundation. at the drugstore, i like the nyx born to glow, the maybelline fit me, and the loreal infallible foundation.
setting powder is a must if you have oily skin. i prefer loose powders, but pressed powders also work, especially if you’re on the dry side. before setting my concealer, i blend out any creasing that happened. then i pour a small amount of powder into the lid, dip my sponge into it, then tap the excess off on the back of my hand (which evenly disperses the powder on the sponge too), then i press and roll the powder into my skin. i set every place that i put concealer with the laura mercier translucent loose setting powder in the shade honey, since it is lighter than my skin tone and is also a nice warm shade without being too yellow. because i use a powder foundation, i don’t have to set the rest of my face. the maybelline fit me loose setting powder in the shade medium is also a favorite of mine.
after i set my makeup, i do bake the areas that i know will get very oily very quickly, so my nose, my chin, and my upper cheeks. if you have normal or dry skin, i wouldn’t recommend this at all. know what works for you and your skin type! i usually do my eye makeup while the powder sits. instead of wiping the excess powder away at the end i actually use a brush and press it into my skin in order to avoid any patchiness.
eyes:
my eyebrows are a pretty nice shape naturally (and i groom them weekly), so doing my eyebrows is usually pretty simple. i like to outline the bottom of my eyebrows with either a pomade or a darker pencil, then i fill in my eyebrows with a lighter colored eyebrow pencil, mimicking hairlike strokes so it looks natural. i then go over everything with an eyebrow gel. unlike base products, i would never pay a lot for eyebrow products. my favorite eyebrow pomade is the milani pomade, though the anastasia dipbrow is a classic. my favorite eyebrow pencil is the maybelline brow ultra slim, and the gel i use is the benefit gimme brow but i’ve been meaning to try the new nyx brow glue.
before i put on eyeshadow, i use an eyeshadow primer. i get really oily eyelids, so i need that barrier so my eyeshadow won’t crease. i put a very small amount onto my brush and blend it out on my eyelids. it also creates a blank canvas so my eyeshadows can pop more.
i won’t go in-depth with eyeshadow, but i will say my “formula” is usually as follows: a color slightly darker than my skin tone in the crease, a dark color on the outer v, and a really light color on the lid. sometimes i use a shimmer for my inner corner highlight, and sometimes i use a matte color instead. eyeliner isn’t necessary, but sometimes i use it in my waterline or by tightlining, and sometimes i use eyeshadow instead for a smoked out look.
for this look, i always use cat-eye shaped lashes, or half-lashes, or a few individual lashes on the outer corners of my eyes. it all adds to the “lifted” effect that i’m going for.
lips:
since my lips are naturally very big, i almost never put color on them since it always comes across as trying too hard. i like to stick with a nude ombre look. i use a lipliner close to my skin tone first (bff #3 by colourpop), rub my lips together to blend the liner out, add a light colored nude in the center, blend again, line the very outer parts of my lips with a dark brown, and finally blend again. sometimes i add a gloss, usually the fenty gloss bomb in the shade fu$$y or i use a gold colored gloss to make my lips look more warm toned so they match my eyeshadow.

peaches and shampoo for the soft asks please :)
☆ peaches - do you have a skincare routine? ☆
Yes I do! My nighttime routine is the biggest. Right now I use Counterstart Coco Cream Cleanser from Beauty Counter (BC) to wash my face.
Then I use 1000 Roses Floral Toner from Andalou Naturals (AN).
Next I use BC Counter+ Overnight Resurfacing Peel
Followed by BC Counter+ Brightening Facial Oil.
For my eyes, I use Burts Bees Renewal Firming Eye Cream
Then AN 1000 Roses Heavenly Night Cream for nighttime moisturizer.
I use BC Countermatch Adaptive Body Moisturizer on my neck and Chest, (sometimes on the back of my legs too!)
And last, Burts Bees Overnight Intensive Lip Treatment, fees so nice and refreshing on your lips!
For my mourning routine, I wash my face with the same cleanser as night time. Then I the same toner. I am not big on eye cream in the morning ( I also haven't tried this one under makeup so maybe it will be great and I will start! But quarantine haven't been wearing makeup at all sooo lol)
Then I use AN 100 Roses Beautiful Day Cream for my moisturizer OR Josie Maran Argan Daily Moisturizer SPF 47 if I know I will be in the sun quite a bit that day.
But if I will be outside I also will wear a hat to protect my skin. I think that is an important addition to skincare as well! And hats are so cute!!
I also pay close attention to the foundation I use. I feel like that is part of my skincare routine as well, so I want something that will be equally beneficial for my skin. On a day to day basis, I use Beauty Counter Tint Skin Hydrating Foundation. It is so lightweight and provides enough coverage that it evens out skin tone but still shows some of my freckles <3
So yeah, fav brands are Beauty Counter, Andalou Naturals, and Burts Bees! Beauty Counter is a bit pricy but worth the investment for overall skin health, and I have truly seen a HUGE difference when using their products! I have very minimal breakouts now and my skin just looks so fresh and alive! So I break up the cost by getting the most important things from them and the rest from other companies!
☆ shampoo - favorite scent? ☆
Oh gosh favorite scent- I am a sucker for vanilla! Or anything sweet like cookies and pastries in candles or body lotion or shampoo! Also, this might sound a bit strange but I LOVE the smell of barns and more specifically horse barns.
Ugh, I just love the smell of horses and hay and grain, even the manure ads a specific richness to it all. I think it is because I grew up around horses so it is so nostalgic for me. Honestly, there is nothing better than walking into a barn and getting hit with that goodness or hugging a horse on a cold day and feeling their warmth and taking in their smell <3 <3
Thanks for the ask it was super fun answering!! Here is the link of questions for anyone else! (^・ω・^✿)

Drugstore Dupes for High-end Makeup
I’m the kind of girl who loves exploring makeup products regardless of the brand. I may have this unyielding fondness to Korean brands but my stash is also comprised of local, Western, indie, brands. While I believe quality tops the criteria in terms of choosing the best makeup products, top quality doesn’t always equate to luxury. I personally love beauty brands you can easily get from the drugstore and so here are some drugstore dupes you may want to try in place of your high-end fantasies.
Tumblr media
Foundation: Covergirl + Olay Simply Ageless 3-in-1 Liquid Foundation
Products that beautify and nourish the face in one go are a boon to the busy lady of today. Not only do they save space in your makeup bag, but they also give you big savings since you no longer need to buy separate products. For instance, this Covergirl foundation also serves as a moisturizer and anti-wrinkle cream. Simply apply on the center of the face and blend outwards to even out your complexion’s tone. Its liquid formulation makes it less prone to caking, and more ideal for oily skin.
Eye Liner: BLK Long-Lasting Liquid Eyeliner
Nothing ruins a look more easily than eye makeup that has gotten smudged thanks to sweat and weather. BLK’s hard wearing liquid eyeliner is designed to set you up for all day glamour, without the hassle of frequent touch-ups. This eyeliner can withstand most activities and will not easily run or flake even in harsh conditions. The fine tip applicator allows for more control of the line’s thickness, allowing you to contour, outline, or create other effects with a flick of your wrist.
Eye Shadow: Revlon ColorStay 16 Hour Shadow
Complete the all-day look for your eye makeup by swiping on any of Revlon’s long wearing eyeshadow powders. These quartets help banish unsightly creasing and smudging, making it perfect for going from office to party. Revlon’s palettes come in different variations ranging from subtle nudes and browns to downright dramatic metallics and mattes. The possibilities are endless!
Setting Spray: NICHIDO Make Up Setting Spray
Keep your makeup from falling flat and off your face with a quick application of this lightweight spray! This oil free product helps keep that fresh look up for hours, thus lessening the time and effort needed for do-overs. Its easy to stash size also makes it a great addition to your travel kit, making it perfect for business trips, conferences, or other out of town ventures.
Lip Balm: Burts Bees Moisturizing Lip Balm
Give your lips the TLC they deserve with regular swipes of this nourishing lip balm. Burts Bees has different lines of lip balm ranging from plain to tinted, but this colorless lip balm makes a great base for other lip products. The moisturizing lip balm also comes in a range of flavors such as wild cherry and cucumber mint that will help make daily hydration less of a chore and much more fun.
Lip Stick: Happy Skin Shut up and Kiss Me Moisturizing Lippie
The name says it all: Happy Skin is a brand that is here to help you be stunning while having fun. The Shut Up and Kiss Me lipstick is only one in a wide variety of tints and lippie sets designed for maximum versatility with your everyday looks. Happy Skin prides itself on featuring colors that are compatible with fairer and darker complexions alike, thus making it a very inclusive brand. The moisturizing lippie is also made for wear and tear, thus minimizing the need to reapply even after hearty meals. Since lipstick is the easiest way to jazz up your look, this is one beauty essential you should not go without!
Staying polished and glamorous on a daily basis need not come at the expense of your wallet or life savings. These drug store finds are only a few selections from the plethora of affordable beauty products out there. No matter the cost or name of the brand, what is more important is that the makeup is compatible for your skin type and brings out the best of your natural features. Now that sort of match is priceless!

10 FAVORITE MAKEUP PRODUCTS OF THE YEAR: DRUGSTORE + HIGH-END
In 2017, I came to the realization that I had way too much makeup. This was overwhelming for me because I disliked seeing a majority of my makeup sitting in a drawer and not being used. Some of my followers may have noticed that I’ve taken a long hiatus from my blog (I think January was the last time I was genuinely active). This was in part due to my no-buy attitude. I felt like I couldn’t talk to you guys about makeup if I wasn’t buying anything or trying new products.
Throughout the year, I have been de-cluttering my collection. I’ve disposed of expired products, given makeup to members of my family, and reevaluated the types of makeup I will buy in the future. This year has been full of lessons for me. As I’m taking marketing classes for my degree, I’ve come to realize just how much consumerism has effected my life and how it was unnecessary for me to live with so much stuff that was going to waste.
When I did have to find new makeup or repurchase products that I’d finished, I had to make some cutthroat decisions. I refused to spend the amount of money that I previously did on cosmetics. I love Anastasia Beverly Hills, but NYX has a fantastic brow pomade that works and looks just as great.
Now let’s get into my favorites of the year.
MORPHE X JACLYN HILL BLING BOSS EYESHADOW PALETTE
This palette surprised me. I’m a fan of both Morphe and Jaclyn Hill. I’ve had fantastic experiences with Morphe products, but with recent drama online I was having second thoughts. I was watching so many reviews on Youtube from influencers that didn’t enjoy the Vault collection. I bought this palette months after the craze died down when I saw the Morphe display in Ulta. I bought the palette on a whim because I fell in love with the colors. I was immediately inspired by this palette! I’d spent all of 2018 wearing the same warm toned reds, browns, and orange toned shadows. I was ready for a change and this palette gave me the opportunity to experiment with new colors. The mattes preformed like a dream. I haven’t had one issue with blending these shades. The shimmers are stunning! Absolutely gorgeous! They apply well with a finger or a wet brush. They really pop on my lids. I have created so many different looks with this palette. I love that all the shades compliment each other, but you can mix them in different ways and get a bomb-ass look every time. I’ve really enjoyed this palette and it’s easily become a favorite.
NYX TAME & FRAME TINTED BROW POMADE
Honestly, I was skeptical about this product. I haven’t tried very many NYX products, but the ones I have tried have been hit-and-miss. I didn’t like their translucent powder, their lipsticks can be nice (depending on the formula), and their highlighter was a chunky mess. But, I needed a brow pomade very last minute and I didn’t have many choices. This product was highly rated on all sites (Target, Ulta, Walgreens). I’m so glad that I gave this product a chance because it’s actually a really nice alternative to my favorite Anastasia Beverly Hills pomade. I bought a $2 Morphe brush to use with this product and they work very well together. This pomade doesn’t go on as harshly as the Anastasia one. It’s a much softer product, but you can build it up to get some intensity. As someone who has been using a brow pencil for years, I really appreciated that this product was easy for me to use. The only downside... I had some trouble choosing a color. The boxes don’t have a clear indication of the pomade’s color. The brown shades looked almost identical on the packaging. I was lucky that I picked the right color for me, but I definitely stood in the NYX aisle at Ulta for ten minutes going back-and-forth between shades.
MAYBELLINE DREAM CUSHION FOUNDATION
I bought this product specifically to wear to work. I wanted something that would take minimal effort in the mornings and would give me just enough coverage so that I wouldn’t look so dead to customers. This product was exactly what I was looking for! It was easy to use so I didn’t dread putting on foundation at 6 A.M. I applied the foundation with a beauty sponge from Real Techniques. The finish was great! I have dry skin, so this gave me a pretty glow. This product is marketed as luminous for all skin types, but I would have to disagree. I can sometimes look oily if I wear this foundation for too long. Thankfully, I only work 4 hour shifts so I don’t wear it for long periods of time. In the few instances that I did wear it for more than 4 hours, my skin was textured and overly dewy. I would not recommend this product for people with oily skin. This is a great product for me because it fits my needs and works with my schedule (plus it’s cheap and since I wear it every day to work it’s easy to restock when I need it).
MAYBELLINE FIT ME MATTE+PORELESS TRANSLUCENT POWDER
Again, another product that I love using on days when I want something lowkey. As someone with dry skin, this powder looks great and doesn’t crease. I normally have issues with powder because using a little too much can cause some serious texture and creasing. I have never had this problem when using the Fit Me powder. I use a fluffy brush to apply this powder on my face. This is a nice, solid product and I have no complaints! It looks great, feels great, and it doesn’t have a cheap cosmetic scent. It’s my favorite drugstore powder!
MILANI MAKE IT DEWY SETTING SPRAY (DEWY)
I ran out of my favorite setting spray: Mac Fix+. So I was in the market to try something new (and cheaper). I had seen many beauty influencers use this product on Youtube, so I definitely wanted to try it. I use this product as a setting spray and as an agent to wet shadow on a brush. Sometimes I spritz just a little bit onto a makeup sponge to blend concealer (if my face is extra day one day and I need added moisture). I’ve noticed that my mascara stays on much longer when I use this spray (which is amazing because normally my mascara bleeds). That alone sold me on this product! I also like the fine mist that comes from this bottle.
KAT VON D LOCK-IT SETTING POWDER
If you have dry skin you need this powder! I can bake my contour with this highlight without looking cakey. I put a lot of this powder on my nose where my glasses sit to really set my foundation so that when I take my glasses off for a picture I don’t get that red indentation. This also does a fantastic job of setting my undereye concealer. I love love love this product! As I mentioned before, if I use too much powder on my dry skin my texture becomes really prominent and my foundation will crease. I’ve never had that problem with this foundation!
BURT’S BEES LIP BALM
I’ve never been the girl that uses lip balm. The texture has always bothered me and the fruity flavors weren’t my thing. Honestly, lip balm was something I avoided at all costs. Until I found Burt’s Bees. I am obsessed with the products! This lip balm is so soft. I forget it’s on my lips sometimes and that’s the way I like my lip balm to feel. I use this every time I do my makeup. I put it on my lips while doing the rest of my makeup so that when I put on lipstick my lips will be hydrated.
ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS LIP GLOSS IN “METALLIC ROSE”
This is my go-to lip product. My ride or die. If you see me in real life, chances are that I’m wearing this product. It’s so gorgeous. Anastasia Beverly Hills makes amazing lip glosses. They’re shiny without feeling thick and goopy on the lips. They’re extremely comfortable and wearable. I have so many great selfies with this lipstick and the shimmer just pops in the photo. Favorite lip gloss of all time!
COLOURPOP HIGHLIGHTER IN “FLEXITERIAN”
This highlight is what I live for. If I were to customize my own highlighter, this would be it. The tone is perfect! I love champagne highlights. The best thing about this product is that it is buildable. I can swipe this over my cheeks with a brush and then dab over it with a beauty sponge to get a more natural glow-from-within look. Or I can pile on this bitch with my finger, blend it out, and then top it with a Becca highlighter for a blinding highlight. I use this highlighter every day. I cannot live without it!
LOREAL INFALLIBLE PRO-GLOW CONCEALER
I have a hard time finding concealers that I like at the drugstore. This has become a new favorite of mine this year because it looks great on my dry skin. The coverage is nice and I will use it to spot-conceal. It’s helped me cover many blemishes this year. It doesn’t break out my skin, which is another issue that I have with drugstore concealers. If you have sensitive skin then I recommend this concealer!
