And the weird hard fish I keep finding ion my beach. Colourful, small and hardy. Some even come with nasty curved spines.

But they don't rot.

Must investigate further.

Fishing lures. If you’ve played the finishing minigame you’ll know you can only catch certain fish with specific lures, but did you take the time to see what those lures looked like?  There are small pictures in the menu when you select your tackle but Ansel lets you get close up and see them in all their glorious detail. There are so many different lures I could fill a whole tumblr so I’ve just chosen one of each type as an example.  More to follow in a later post. Poppeck: Chocobo is a chocobo shaped lure.  You can almost hear it squawking, “Kweh!”  It even has feathers! Stinker: Malboro is more elongated than it’s namesake but it has the same tentacles and the razor sharp teeth. Burrower: Mad Pink Sandworm.  This is a pretty good representation of a sandworm as features in previous Final Fantasy titles, teeth and all. Sweet Jamming: Custard.  Not instantly recognisable from it’s shape but the eyes show it’s clearly a member of the flan monster family. Deadly Waters: Sahagin.  This one is so pretty and highly detailed with all those scales.  It’s a shame we can’t see it close up in gameplay. Tidal Might Leviathan.  A pretty accurate scale model of the sea goddess, well her head at least. Needle 1,000: Cactuar.  This lure is so cute!  From above you can see the cactuar’s perpetually surprised face and under the water you can see the little propeller that splashes as it turns and attracts the fish. Bomber: Bomb.  The name says it all.  The flames along the side look like an old school bomb, not sure why it has a duck bill though! Jumbo Tusk: Garula.  I’m not sure how this gentle giant cow/elephant creature would attract fish but here it is, horns and all.  Also with a duck bull protrusion.   More lures coming soon!
