Happy Anniversary 26 years! bravest of the brave, Love of My Life
love of my life
“Fisherman’s Blues”
I wish I was a fisherman
Tumblin’ on the seas
Far away from dry land
And its bitter memories
Casting out my sweet line
With abandonment and love
No ceiling bearin’ down on me
Save the starry sky above
With light in my head
You in my arms
Woo!I wish I was the brakeman
On a hurtlin’ fevered train
Crashing a-headlong into the heartland
Like a cannon in the…
My sister’s husband gave me the shirt and it has so much deeper meaning than anything. I was a Mac Miller fan since before he was big and I was just watching him on YouTube and listening to his music. I think it was like Donald Trump that really made him blow up. I saw him in concert five times before he passed, but the significance of all of this it’s crazy and if you want to hear it, you could keep reading and if you don’t wanna hear it that’s fine I just felt like having a nice nice little diary vent on this beautiful day after a nice Christmas evening.
The meaning behind this shirt, and that Mac Miller is saying resonates with me because though I’m an independent woman and I take pride in that - and I do still think that woman should be able to work and everything if that’s what they want to do & have their rights - but primally and primal instincts are that the man is the provider and the woman is the nurture and caretaker, because she creates the children, and we just have those qualities and hormones within us, whereas a man has the qualities to provide and protect.
That being said - I just never found a man that wanted to help provide, and protect me, so I always had to not only provide for myself and protect myself, but I also had to provide for my significant others, and so I never got to live in my nurturing feminine nature that I’m supposed to living in.
I have lived on my own since 19 and pushed myself working full-time through two going on three college degrees and I take a lot of pride in that but I also deserve to be able to have a partner and help so it’s just meaningful to me.
Obligotry Once-a-Month art post, and here's the main five designs lol.
I'm hella busy right now and I already barely had time to draw the Lagoona and Cleo designs, I then realized I had some problems with my first take on the big three so I redesigned them. I'll make bios for Lagoona and Cleo (as well as Ghoulia and Spectra, who are supposed to be part of this "Wave 1" lineup), but just unshaded full-bodies for now.
edit: Individual artworks cause the main image is blurry as shit 😭
Tangent under the Cut!
I made some little changes for Frankie ( I now realize I didn't even complete the pattern of the leg warmers, but ngl I'm vibing with the asymmetry). I just thought their design was too busy to work for a doll. Not that I am planning on making these designs into dolls, but that was my mindset when designing them. The excessive patterns, while looking cool to me, might seem off-putting to see on shelves so I toned it down a bit. Also removed some layers of clothes cause LOL there is NO way Mattel would ever put that many layers on a playline doll. Also changed the shoes, kinda rushed the first ones I designed I didn't like them at all. I feel these one fit my direction for Frankie a lot more.
Cleo was very inspired by Mcbling era of 2000s fashion. I like G1 Cleo a lot, but I think she was of the main dolls who didn't really have a clear fashion style attached to her, just wearing Egyptian motifs. Which don't get me wrong, looked really good at times, but I feel a lot more could be done with her. I associate the Mcbling era with extreme consumerism and hyper-femininity, and like... if that's not Cleo. Gave Cleo hazy eyes, jaundice, and generally ashy skin so she looks especially dead looking.
I didn't really have that much beef with my Clawdeen design as much as I had beef with her drawing. Like it looked SO bad compared to the rest. I actually sat my as down and drew her braids this time. I also changed her bra-mesh shirt cause 1.) again, Mattel will never put that many layers on a playline doll 2.)IDK maybe I'm a prude but perhaps it was too much for a 15 year old?
Lagoona was really a case of having my cake (making her Australian) and eating it too (making her a WOC). My Lagoona Blue is a Yawk-Yawk, a sea creature with sea-weed hair from the Bininj indigenous people of Australia. I wanted to connect her to an actual sea creature because honestly G1 half-sea nymph thing was vague as hell, and G3 is giving us literally nothing.I'd like to imagine the seaweed being a plastic mold at the back of her neck, like Viperine snakes. A lot of redesigns of Lagoona tend to go for streetwear or sport-leisure, but I went for beach fashion cause I liked the vibes. To compensate for the utter mainstreamness of her fashion, I tried to give her weird makeup.
Drac changed significantly because she was the only one whose design I outright disliked, at least for a hypothetical core doll. I removed the pink streaks cause I thought while it might look cool as a drawing, it might look garish on a doll (that and It'd be difficult to root with a machine). Still think the design might be a hassle to translate to doll form (the skirt is WAY too much), so I might have to revise it, again. But I like this direction much more.
What would happen if I asked you to talk about one of your ocs? Go as deep into the lore as you want :)
mm ykno I WILL take an excuse to talk about my ocs and run :)
How bout my less talked about jojo oc Doro
Iv been lookin for an excuse to redo his design, iv never been totally happy with his original look so he's a go again!
Changing his stand from a regular stand to an armor stand. Still works the same, mean to reflect someone deepest desires to the point that they will walk right to it even if they KNOW the stands trick. Once close enough it snaps like an angler fish with the armor equipped with booby traps all over that open up to get their enemy. the inside of Fisherman Blues armor looks like an iron maiden and god knows where Doro's actual body fits, skinny legends fitting it in there somewhere.
As for Doro's character profile, its not much I'v ever dived into like i have others
But Doro is on the younger side of Roxanne's current Hires only being there for a short few years.
Doro and Janelle are friends but the two dont see eye to eye, as when Janelle started scheme to get everyone out of Roxanne's clutches and out of their dangerous work, Doro flat out told her he wanted no part in it. Their close enough that he won't snitch on her or stop her, but he wants nothing to do with it. Janelle may be tired and upset by the reality that has become their work, but Doro knew exactly what some rich fancy woman with hair a foot tall on her head with a law degree was not capable of any kindness. The work does pay as promised at least and so long as it does Doro is content playing punching bag for rich assholes to get off to
Before coming to work for Roxanne, Doro (like most of Roxannes hires) had little money and no connections in the world. Anyone he grew close to, or grew close to him he always hurt. Everyone wants to get close to him, get to know him see who he is, but no one ever wants to stick around once they know him. Roxanne doesnt want to get to know him, Roxanne just wants him to run around in skimpy outfits and flaunt what he has while some big muscle pushes him around in the ring so they can make some big bucks. He gets his work done, he gets to go home so long as he survives and he can do and buy whatever he wants because he has no one who needs to lean on him, he doesnt want people to lean on him or need him. He's alone and its the way he likes it, supporting number one at the bottom of the ladder comfortably.
At least that what he'll tell people. Its probably half truth, and half defeat and acceptance to the way of things. make no friends, make money and leave a hot corpse.
Also to the side of his character, Doro loves Janelle as a coworker, but hates her best friend Mac. Especially because Mac often ask to be put against Doro in the ring (and as one of Roxies favorites he gets what he wants) and its always for the same reason, because despite Doro's ability meaning to show people what they want and drop their guard, what mac see's only makes him fight harder, Doro is sure to get the worst ass kicking when Mac is the one he's fighting because whatever Fisherman Blue's showing him, his gets Mac's blood pumping. He also just hates Mac lol, beyond this he finds the younger man loud and bothersome especially with all his advances of friendship and inviting Doro out constantly to hang out with the other wrestlers.
if Izzy had to die, like it was inevitable for the plot then I wish he died when he shot himself. then the only person who sees him is ed, and izzy literally turns into the symbol of blackebeard. Ed struggles to leave everything he was behind because backtracking after he caused izzy to kill himself makes him feel like he could have saved him. during the season izzy follows ed in every scene except the ones ed's with stede (so it's the perfect metaphor for ed to be at peace) and after a while finally when ed is alone. and ed mourns and then at the end we find out izzy was a ghost all along, and when ed lets go of izzy's ghost then he's ready to leave blackbeard behind.
it would still hurt and izzy's purpose in the story would still be about ed's arc, but at least izzy's death has consequences.
and in the meanwhile if you want to headcanon him as alive in the background bc ed's not very in touch with reality and in some scenes izzy interacts with people then there's the plot twist at the end that ed's guilt materialized as izzy (and you can put so many implications about their relationship here) but when ed finally lets go of his past then izzy can be his own person, have his own arc.
because we didn't even need so much izzy screen time this season (i loved it) but we didn't need izzy to have so many interactions with the crew and stede and everyone and have him grow. he could have stayed in the background slowly fitting in. and if they got renewd for a third season they could've explored his character more. and this season could've been really about ed/stede relationship instead of having them getting together -> breaking up -> getting together -> breaking up -> getting together... s2 focused on the main characters' realtionship and if they got renewd for s3 then background characters is fine. but like this, they tried to have everything and instead we got half-completed story-lines that feel hollow
I do appreciate uptight and formal Alfred, but I also need more Northwest Alfred who considers black jeans and cargo pants to be "dress pants", wears utilikilts to weddings, thinks a flannel is formal as long as it's buttoned all the way to the top, and who's biggest etiquette rules are that you should always have vegan options at a party, and that you should always share your weed with friends.
