Pathways #2

My painting "Pathways" was created using an encaustic technique known as accretion. For this process, I applied multiple layers of hot wax onto the canvas, and allowed them to cool before brushing on additional layers. Through this laborious and time-consuming process, I gradually built up a thick texture within the wax which gave the painting its unique character.

As I was creating Pathways, I wanted to explore the concept of how each of us take different paths throughout our lives. By depicting a seemingly infinite array of pathways, I wished to capture the idea that though we can all take different directions in life, all journeys are intertwined with one another. Pathways is an exploration into how we many traverse various paths before reaching our destinations.

Tatiana Golembievskaya is a Ukrainian artist, landscape painter, genre painter, and master of still life. Academician of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine. People's Artist of Ukraine.

She has created a gallery of easel paintings with idealized images from the life of the Ukrainian people and laconic plot compositions, portraits, and landscape motifs.

Golembievskaya lived a rich life full of creativity and fame. Most of her works are now in museums and private collections around the world. The Cultural Space Kobzar exhibits a series of works "Divine Service" (2009) by Tatiana Golembievskaya. These works are now for sale.

In 1490, Leonardo da Vinci delved into the architect Vitruvius’ theory on human movement within circles and squares, blending the human form with geometry.

He used male models and cadavers to study and highlight the “ideal body”, emphasizing perfect proportions akin to human anatomy. This exploration, rooted in the belief that “man is the measure of all things” as the philosopher Protagoras said.

This belief impacted the understanding of the female body, historically overshadowed by the male perspective.

This series challenges the traditional focus on the Vitruvian man, now exploring anatomy through abstract, expressive strokes with a queer approach.

Imagine if Vitruvius had been a woman and Leonardo had been Leonora – how would this have shaped our world?

Many people feel more comfortable living in dreams, rather than living in reality which is full of life's problems and difficulties. Number gambling is an old gambling game, everyone dreams of getting a lot of money from guessing numbers. Makes them good at calculating without using mathematical formulas, guessing numbers using supernatural inspiration. If they guess wrong, they feel they haven't been lucky and will guess the number again tomorrow. If their guess is correct, it means that tomorrow they have to buy another number. That's how my old friend, who I haven't seen for a long time, said he doesn't like gambling anymore. But when we met yesterday it turned out that he was busy calculating supernatural numbers again, gambling on numbers again.
