The video is an episode of 島津真太郎の週末ゲームCAMP (Shimazu Shintarou's Weekend Game Camp), a radio show that brings in people from the video game industry to chat about what they do. In this episode, host Shimazu Shintarou (CEO of event company groundinglab Co., Ltd., with years of experience in the VG industry) is assisted by voice actor and singer Kubota Miyu.

The guest is, of course, voice actor and former OLDCODEX frontman Suzuki Tatsuhisa, the voice of everyone's favorite sleepy prince, Noctis Lucis Caelum from Final Fantasy XV!

Shimazu Shintarou: You've played Ban in Nanatsu no Taizai, Takao in Kuroko no Basuke, and Tachibana Makoto in Free!... But I wonder. Because to me, you'll always be that guy from Final Fantasy XV.

Suzuki Tatsuhisa: I get it. I was involved with it for a long time, after all. It took about 10… Maybe 12 years? Until it came out.

SS: I mean, it used to be something else, right? [Final Fantasy] Versus XIII, wasn't it?

ST: Yeah, yeah. Speaking of which, the people at Square Enix were battling themselves with fear at the time. They always told me not to tell anyone about it.

SS: You had to be careful about it.

ST: Yeah, yeah.

SS: I'll tell you what happened from my perspective. The game was supposed to be a spin-off game of Final Fantasy XIII. And [Tatsu] was supposed to be in it. That was what I heard behind the scenes.

SS: Yeah, and I was amazed. He's going to be in a Final Fantasy game. A Final Fantasy spin-off.

SS: Every year, I'd be involved in this thing called E3 in Los Angeles where all the world's biggest game companies… It's no longer a thing this year, though.

ST: Yeah, it's no longer a thing.

SS: I was there every year. There was an announcement at the Square Enix booth, and when I watched it… It wasn't the Square Enix booth, but the Sony one. A Sony conference booth.

ST: Sony conference.

SS: Or something like that. They were about to announce what would happen to Versus XIII. [T/N: Watch here for the FFXV announcement trailer at E3 2013.]

SS: And I thought, "That's the one Tatsu is in. What's gonna happen to it?" At the very end, the Versus XIII logo got all "drdrdrdrdr" and changed. It wasn't a XIII-related title, but XV.

ST: Yeah, the 15th main title.

SS: The 15th main title.

SS: And it [the ordinal number "15th"] was read in Tatsuhisa's voice.

SS: So I was like, "What? It's going to be a numbered title?" That's when I realized that my friend, whom I've known since the days he couldn't get cast in anything, was in the game series that had some of the best games in my life, as the protagonist of a numbered title in that series.

ST: Yeah. It was going to be in the form of an alternate game, but it ended up becoming one with a numbered title. At the time, Shinta was working with Square Enix and heard about the development, but he didn't expect that it'd be a numbered title. I wasn't allowed to talk about it either.

Kubota Miyu: Of course.

People need to give more credit to Dojima for holding up the way he did, but I'd also say Yu Narukami, for dealing with everything and still finding the strength to step away from the community he'd fallen so dearly in love with at the end of things.

Character I’d like as my BFF:

Nanako would give me a cup of soup and ask me to ramble about my characters to her, and that is why I love her.

Character that’s ruined my life:

Tohru Adachi made me write 75k words of sheer concentrated autistic brainrot in the form of Jester, Meet Your Son, The Moon, so we're blaming him.

Final Fantasy XV

5 favorite characters:

Love of the lords, Ardyn Izunia owns my soul. The flamboyancy. The VERVE. The anger so deep it almost expresses itself as a lust. His fucking tremendous voice acting by Darin de Paul. That motherfucker had me by the tongue from the moment he first strutted on screen. He is the legend. He is the moment. And by the gods, is he such a fantastic villain.

But Gladiolus Amicitia owns my heart. He's so deeply underrated by the fandom that I attached to him and decided I'd defend him to the death. He's such a sweet guy, and intelligent, and deeply good looking. And his flaws are hella fascinating to delve into.

Lunafreya Nox Fleuret is also very near and dear to my heart. The resolve she has to carry through the game's events is so intense, and she's so much more than the fandom likes to see her has. I hope she knows how much I care about her.

Noctis Lucis Caelum also really stands out as a fascinating protagonist who goes through so much well-done character development by the end of the game. Ray Chase adds so much dimension and depth to every voice line, bringing a sincerity to Noct's words in happiness and sadness that makes me truly root for him.

And then, of course, how could I forget Regis Lucis Caelum, the best dad. We don't get to see much of him, but I'm actually really fascinated in the past time he spent with his friends when he was younger, especially his friendship with Clarus, his royal bodyguard and Gladio's dad.

3 OTPs:

Gladio/Lunafreya/Ardyn is my peak ship out of every single other ship in FFXV, and the fact that it is a rarepair continually makes me cry.

Gladio/Lunafreya is also really good!! I think they both care for Noctis a ton, and would bond over that.

And Ardyn/Lunafreya, for the enemies to lovers dynamic.

Funniest character:

Each of the main four boys (Prompto, Ignis, Gladio and Noctis) get their moments of snark throughout the game, but it's Prompto that really does get me with some of the fuckin best lines. I can't help but snicker every time at him defending his selfie taking with "hashtag sorry not sorry!" or him dropping a hard curse when realizing Gladio's most likely off flirting with girls. It's so good and his voice actor, Robbie Daymond, knows just how to nail that comedic timing.

Prettiest character:

I need Gladio in ways that would get me censored by the Hays Code.

Seriously, his fucking eyes?? That scar??? It's just not fair! It's just not fair! He's so hot! He's so unspeakably pretty!!!!! Sir who allowed this?? Who allowed you to be like this!!!

Ardyn is a close second, but man... come on. Nobody can beat that fucking look.

Most badass character:

Ardyn is badass as fuck for his abilities, the fact that he almost won, just so much about him. I won't go into detail because spoilers, but oh man... he really does earn this title handily.

Character I’d like as my BFF:

All of the Chocobros seem like they would be so fucking fun to hang out with and I'd take the chance to do so in a heartbeat.

Character that’s ruined my life:

Ardyn

And

Gladio.

These fucking two troublemakers have really been shaking my noggin for the past six months. ESPECIALLY ARDYN GOOD LORD THE AMOUNT OF FANFICTION I WANT TO WRITE ABOUT HIM. HE'S SUCH A GOOD CHARACTER. On the 8th of February, four years ago, Final Fantasy XV: Pocket Edition was released for iOS and Android.

The title is an abridged version of the 2016 title Final Fantasy XV, remaking its storyline, graphics, and gameplay for mobile devices.

Split into ten chapters, the game follows protagonist Noctis Lucis Caelum and his party across the world of Eos, with players navigating semi-linear environments and fulfilling quests to advance the story.

The aim was for a young team to take the story and mechanics of Final Fantasy XV and simplify it for mobile platforms, allowing it to reach a wider casual audience.

Reception of Pocket Edition was generally positive, with many outlets praising it as a faithful translation of the original game onto mobile platforms. The mobile version reached three million downloads within a month.
