Pfunds Molkerei, Dresden
This lovely place was used as one of the film locations for 'Grand Budapest Hotel' (2014) as the Mendl's bakery. This unique dairy store was established in 1880 and kept its original interior with hand painted decorative tiles.

Whoa, can't believe I never noticed this easter egg! In Jurassic Park Nedry is briefly seen slacking off by watching Martin Scorsese's Goncharov on his work computers. A little nod by Spielberg to acknowledge Scorsese's classic.
P.S. Here's a template, just in case anyone wants to make Nedry watch something else

A random thought for today. I’ve always wondered what the opposite of “Airplane!”, the 1980 comedy movie, would look like. For those who don’t know, “Airplane!” was casted with mainly actors who were known for dramatic, serious roles. The joke was the casting itself, like you wouldn’t expect these actors to be in a zany comedy.
So, the opposite of that would be a dramatic, serious movie that mainly casted actors known for comedy. Nothing really comes to mind, but if anyone knows of a movie like this, feel free to let me know.

I’m surprised I haven’t seen any posts about this yet, but my favorite piece of Goncharov trivia is that a very young Sofia Coppola had a small (uncredited) role in it. You know the beginning of the market scene, how there’s a woman with a small child at the apple cart and the apple seller hands the child an apple and they walk away right as Goncharov and Andrey walk up? That was Sofia Coppola!

Very hilarious that the original guy who was going to play the hero in Scared to Death dropped out the night before shooting over the phone because he didn't want to miss his acting classes much to William Malone's dismay. Mind boggling that he chose that when this movie was the very thing he was studying to do.

Midsommar (2019)
What happened to Connie after Simon "left"? When Dani stops the sacrifice with the child being thrown into the river the commune simply replaces one sacrifice with another, which is evidently Connie given the identical ceremonial outfit and the fact she's soaking wet when we see her here.

Back in 2004, Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt were announced as the stars of the movie that would become The Departed, although Pitt later bowed out of his on-screen role (though he stayed on as a producer of the film). It wouldn't be until 2019 that the two made a movie together, Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. That film, of course, went on to become a box office hit and earned 10 Oscar nominations, including Best Picture and acting nods for both DiCaprio and Pitt (Pitt won for Best Supporting Actor). At the time of the film's release, we spoke to both DiCaprio and Pitt, who talked about what it was like for the two of them to finally work together.
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is currently streaming on Hulu and available on DVD, Blu-Ray, 4K, and most digital platforms.

I got a suggestion to share my favorite Maniac Cop trivia, so here goes:
-Director William Lustig had Robert Z'Dar in mind after seeing him as the villain in The Night Stalker (1987), another slasher-esque police procedural with subtle supernatural elements. Writer Larry Cohen later expressed his disappointment in the casting choice, as he intended for Matt Cordell to be much more quick and agile as opposed to a hulking brute.
-The movie was funded by a white lie: the footage of the St. Patrick's Day parade scenes was shot before production on the rest of the film began, some of which was shot by director Sam Raimi, who also played the reporter at the parade in a brief cameo. Some of the parade footage was then presented by Raimi to potential investors under the claim the film needed funding to finish production, which the investors approved, not realizing they were funding the full film production.
-Lustig would later repay the favor as a background actor in Army of Darkness (he's the bald guy grabbing a shovel while Ash is finishing up telling his story to an unfazed fellow S-Mart employee played by Ted Raimi (who would himself go on to have a reporter cameo in Maniac Cop 3: Badge of Silence).
-The film crew did not have permission to film the parade, eventually leading to them being shooed away by police after already getting the needed footage.
-The police officer drinking on the job at the parade was not an actor and was caught on film by pure chance.
-Lustig and Cohen came up with the tagline "You have the right to remain silent... forever!" at a lunch meeting years before they actually began working on Maniac Cop.
-The coroner was played by Lustig's real life doctor at the time because Lustig wanted the technical jargon regarding the fatal injuries first victim Cassie Phillips received to sound authentic.
-Cassie was played by Jill Gatsby, who is Larry Cohen's daughter. She frequently played characters who get killed off in movies her late father wrote and/or directed.
