Appointment Update:
The dr laid out some of the most likely causes of my miscarriage, one being my gestational diabetes, and another possibly having clotting issues. Merry talked about what I take on a daily basis which includes:
Metformin
Prenatal
D3
Iron
Women’s multivitamin
She advised to stop taking the women’s multivitamins because I may be getting to much vitamin A which is not good for pregnancy. She also advised to add aspirin to my daily medication; in the event I do have a clotting issue.
I did advise her that I have yet to have a natural cycle since my miscarriage, so she prescribed provera for 10 days so my body will have a withdrawal bleed. Once that happens we will start the fertility treatments again.
She did test my hcg levels again but did not do any genetic testing. She did say if I have another miscarriage to bring in any tissue and they can have it tested. If I would have brought it in this last time they would have tested it but I was told not to by the front desk.
I am glad we are able to get back on track and hopeful that we can have a better outcome in the future. On my way home from the visit I was playing my praise playlist and I had an image flash in my mind of baby feet with a hospital bracelet around the ankle. If that isn’t a sign from God I don’t know what is.

My husband Alec and I have been trying to have a baby for several years now and it has been a struggle. I have PCOS which causes me not to ovulate very often if at all. We are now working with a fertility clinic called REACH in Charlotte, NC to better our chances. They have me on a few medications right now and we are getting lots of different testing done to see what may work best and if it’s doing what it should. This is going to be a bit of a long journey but of course this can all get very expensive. While we are looking to avoid a procedure if possible all of the testing adds up. If you are able Alec and I would really appreciate any donation you can give so that we can make this dream a reality. Every penny counts but we understand not everyone can afford to make a donation but ask that you keep us in your prayers.
Right now we are still getting treatment plans set up so we don’t know the full estimate just yet but we are starting our donation goal at $5,150. Due to the fact that we don’t have a set estimate we are also giving the option that if the cost doesn’t end up being that high we can either return donations or use it towards other baby expenses. We would never use anyones kindness for another purpose.
Thank you all so much for anything you are able to do to help us whether that is financially or through prayer. We love you all
- Caity and Alec

Part Three
That first negative test wasn’t fun, but we kinda figured it wouldn’t happen for us on our first try, in the first month. That would be lucky! If only we were that lucky.
We didn’t let it get us down, we would try again in September.
To my surprise, I started ovulating in September. The ovulation peak sticks were turning blue for me! I was so excited. “Maybe it just took a month or two for my body to get back into the swing of things”, I thought.
We weren’t as dedicated to trying in September. We were busy, and my husband was sick (Not with COVID, thank god).
I noticed during the week of ovulation, that I was crampy. I was kinda uncomfortable during sex, which was strange. I did some more research and found that some women are either SUPER symptomatic when they are ovulating, or they are clueless and feel nothing. Lucky me! I can tell when I’m ovulating. And sex was uncomfortable. Doesn’t that defeat the purpose though??
The time came to take a pregnancy test, and before I could even take the test, I started my period unexpectedly a few days early. I was bummed, so was my husband. But it was still early!! And now we know I do indeed ovulate. That was one positive that came out of September.
Soon it was October, it was OUR month!! I could feel it! Third times the charm!
We had sex almost every day this cycle, we were very determined. We had fun with it this time! We even followed some of the old wives tales for how to conceive a boy, and what tricks to do to ensure your rates are high to get pregnant (I’ll leave this to your imagination and keep this blog PG-13, wink wink)
My husband works out of town occasionally, and it just so happened he was working out of town the two weeks following my ovulation.
Sometime early in the two weeks he was gone, I was at home doing my normal nightly routine, and I needed something from downstairs. I was running down the stairs when I noticed I could smell paint. It was so strong, like there was a fresh can open, or I had just painted the walls in my stairwell. But I hadn’t just painted, I painted this closed stairwell 3 months ago!! The thought entered my mind for a split second, MAYBE, just MAYBE, I’m pregnant???? That surely could be why it smells like I just painted this hallway last night. I told my husband that night that I could legit smell everything, and maybe it was a sign I was pregnant. I didn’t want to think too far in to it though, I didn’t want to get my hopes up.
Within the next few days, my boobs were sore. They can occasionally get sore before my period. And my period was due in the next week or less, so maybe, it was just PMS?
It was Wednesday, approx 3-4 days before my period was supposed to start. I was on a walk with my dog, part of our nightly routine, and I started to feel crampy, SHIT! This was it, my period was coming. I was kind of upset, but also had the tiny flicker in the back of my mind that remembered something I had read while researching “cramping can be normal during implantation.” Again, I didn’t want to get my hopes up.
I got home, went about my night. At one point I sat on the toilet to pee, and when I wiped, I noticed just one spot of bright red blood. I gasped. This was weird, my period is NEVER bright red in the beginning. I was just cramping an hour or so ago, so maybe this was just a different period than normal. Or maybe it’s implantation bleeding.
At this point, I was dying to take a test. My husband wasn’t due home until Friday. I didn’t want to tell him about my implantation bleeding. I had already told him my boobs were sore and I had the nose of a bloodhound, which in turn he joked and told me I was exaggerating and it was just in my head. I didn’t want to add one more thing to the list that he would taunt me with, nor did I want to add one more thing to get our hopes up about.
Friday, November 19th 2021 came and the second my husband walked through the door after returning from out of town, I said, “Come back to our bathroom now, we are going to take a test!” I was filling him in on how I just had this crazy feeling that I was pregnant, I told him about my implantation bleeding to top it all off. I just felt different this time, and I would be pretty shocked if it weren’t positive.
We were both on the edges of our seats. I peed on that ClearBlue stick, and covered it with a piece of toilet paper and laid it on the counter. We spent what felt like the next fifteen minutes hugging, but was actually three. It was time. We bent over the counter in unison, and uncovered the test.
HOLY SHITBALLS!
There was a faint blue line
My first reaction: OMG OMG OMG OMG, I’m pregnant!
My husband’s reaction: I’m not sure, it’s so faint, I don’t trust it, I need words!
I was ELATED, my heart was pounding. I KNEW IT! All week I knew. I could feel it in my gut. And I was right. I knew I didn’t need words, that faint line meant everything.
We decided on Sunday, in 48 hours, we would take another test, the digital kind that said “Pregnant” or “Not Prengant”. Just so it would be set in stone and give us the 100% certainty we needed.
Sunday morning, that digital test confirmed what we already knew…….PREGNANT 💙💗

Fertility Treatments For Infertility in Pune
In Pune, like in many other cities, there are several clinics and hospitals that offer fertility treatments for couples struggling with infertility. Here are some common fertility treatments available:
In vitro fertilization (IVF): IVF is a widely used assisted reproductive technology (ART) where eggs are retrieved from the ovaries and fertilized with sperm in a laboratory. The resulting embryos are then transferred to the uterus.
Intrauterine insemination (IUI): IUI involves placing sperm directly into the uterus around the time of ovulation to increase the chances of fertilization.
Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI): ICSI is a specialized form of IVF where a single sperm is injected directly into an egg to facilitate fertilization, typically used in cases of male infertility.
Donor egg or sperm: In cases where one partner has infertility issues, donor eggs or sperm can be used for fertilization.
Surrogacy: In certain situations where a woman is unable to carry a pregnancy to term, surrogacy may be an option. This involves another woman carrying the pregnancy to term for the intended parents.
Fertility preservation: For individuals facing medical treatments that may affect fertility, such as chemotherapy, fertility preservation techniques like egg or sperm freezing may be offered.

CD1 fascinating enough, I started spotting yesterday in the middle of a family kickball game. Today marks CD1 so I have already called the doctor and made the appointment for my fertility lab work and they are going to talk about scheduling my ultrasound and hsg. I guess I would rather be 4 days early then late or to start over the weekend and mess up the timeline for these dr visit.
