Fenro week 2022 prompt 3
(Also I just realized I screwed up the prompt order, but enjoy anways!)
Gyro was in a very rotten mood. Fenton knew it, Lil’ Bulb knew it. Hell, at this point? The whole building probably knew it.
Why was Gyro in a horrid mood? Well, he was being forced to head to Hawkaii for a Science conference the next day.
Most people would be thrilled to be going to Hawkaii for free, but Fenton knew that Gyro hated missing work. It was probably because of Gyro’s anxiety, but he wasn’t quite sure.
Fenton felt pretty guilty, and he knew why. The truth was, there was no actual conference in Hawkaii. Fenton had planned the whole thing, and with the help of Mr. McDuck, they had successfully tricked Gyro into taking a relaxing vacation.
Now all Fenton had to do was get through the rest of the day without accidentally spilling his secret.
Easy, right?
Against all the odds of his slippery tongue, Fenton made it through the day with only a few close calls.
Getting Gyro to actually leave the lab, however, was becoming the difficult part.
“Hey, Gy? We’ve got an early morning start tomorrow, and we need to get us and Boyd all packed. So…maybe we should head home now?” Fenton said cautiously.
Gyro just grumbled and didn’t move.
“Gyro.” Fenton said, losing patience. “It’s late. We really need to go.”
The chicken moved swiftly and angrily, grabbing his coat and leaving the lab without a word.
Fenton sighed. This…might be harder than he thought.
He followed Gyro, however it was difficult because he was walking fast and Gyro had very long legs.
When they got to their car, Gyro got into the passenger seat and slammed the door with full force. Fenton was surprised the window didn’t break.
The entire ride home was silent, and the fury emanating from Gyro was palpable.
Fenton sat quietly, with his head in his hand, staring out at the stars. He knew that Gyro got like this sometimes, but…it didn’t make it hurt any less that he didn’t want to go on a vacation with Fenton and Boyd.
He just had to be patient.
—-
When the car finally pulled into the driveway, Gyro turned off the ignition, and sighed with his head in his hands.
Neither the chicken nor the duck made a move to get out of the car.
Fenton was about to say something, before Gyro finally said, “I hate airplanes.”
Fenton balked. “What?”
“I always have. It’s gotten worse since the Library of Alexandria. I thought…I thought I was going to die, so soon after getting my son back.” Gyro confessed quietly.
Fenton felt a huge wave of guilt wash over him. He didn’t know…but now that he did, he was going to fix it.
“Gy?” Fenton said meekly, ready to confess everything.
Gyro took his glasses off and rubbed his eyes. “And the stupid thing is, I’ve always wanted to go to Hawkaii.”
Fentons words fizzled out on his tongue. Gyro wanted to go to Hawkaii?
No one spoke for a few more seconds, until Fenton said, “Hey, I have an idea.”
—-
Fenton stepped out onto the deck of The Selene, Donald’s houseboat just before sunrise.
Donald had graciously allowed Gyro, Fenton, and Boyd to borrow it for their trip to Hawkaii, on the stipulation that he and Daisy got to tag along for the boat ride.
Fenton and Gyro were more than alright with that, as neither of them knew how to sail a ship.
Fenton drew in a deep breath of the salty ocean air, and only startled a little bit when long arms wrapped around him.
“Thank you, Fen.” Gyro whispered softly into his ear.
“Of course, Carinõ.” Fenton whispered back.
They cuddled comfortably for a few minutes, the only sound being the waves against the boat.
“You know, I knew from the very start that there was no science conference.” Gyro said, snapping Fenton back to reality.
Fenton could feel his beak and neck turn bright red. “Oh…you, uh, you did?”
Gyro chuckled softly and leaned his head on Fenton’s shoulder. “You and Mr. McDuck are both terrible liars.”
Fenton exhaled slowly. “Geez, I’m sorry, Gy. I-“
Gyro cut him off. “Sorry? I should be the one apologizing. I was such a jerk about it.”
Fenton reached back and ran his hand through Gyro’s perfectly tamed bangs. “How about we forget about everything that happened, and go make some breakfast? I’m sure there’s a small parrot that will wake up soon and be very hungry.”
Gyro gave a small chuckle. It was music to Fenton’s ears. “That sounds perfect, Fen.”
Fenton smiled. “Pancakes?”
Gyro grabbed his hand and pulled him towards the kitchen.
“Definitely.”

Fenro week 2022 prompt 6! I have had SO MUCH fun writing these!!
“WOOOH! I love Halloween!” Boyd yelled, pumping his fists up in the air in his Darkwing duck costume.
“Boyd, no yelling in the house.” Gyro said halfheartedly.
“Sorry dad! But I’m just sooo excited for my first Halloween!” Boyd laughed, playing with his hat.
“I know, I know. Hey, where’s Fenton?” Gyro asked.
“Riiiiiiiggghht here!” A new voice announced.
“Papí! You look amazing!” Boyd said.
Fenton strutted about the living room in his Paperinik costume.
Gyro felt his beak heat up a bit. Why was his husband so dang hot? “You look good, Fen.”
Fenton smirked. “Thanks Carinõ. Now go get your costume on!”
This had been the part he wasn’t looking forward to. He groaned. “Ugh.”
But all it took was one look at his son's big eyes staring pleadingly at him and he stood up and went to change.
He walked into his room Gyro Gearloose, and left Gizmoduck.
He went back into the living room. “So?”
Boyd was excited as always. But Fenton fixed Gyro with a stare.
Gyro knew that look. It was the look that said that they were going to let Boyd have his fun. But once Boyd was asleep? That was when the real fun began.
And if giving both of his favorite people a fun night meant dressing up for Halloween?
Well, Gyro was just fine with that.
Thanks to @fenroweek2022 for the prompts!

Fenro week 2022 prompt 5! Dinner time at m’ma Cabreras house! (Disclaimer: I do not speak Spanish and used Google translate, so my apologies if it’s incorrect!)
“Hola, m’ma!” Fenton said excitedly as he opened the front door.
“Hola, pollito,” his mother called from the kitchen.
Gyro and Boyd filed into the cozy house after Fenton. Gyro noted how his nose perked up at the smell in the kitchen, and he was sure that the food was going to be amazing.
Maria Cabrera stepped out of the kitchen with oven mitts on. “Hola everyone! Make yourselves at home while I finish up the dinner.”
Fenton walked over to M’ma. “¿Necesitas ayuda, mamá?”
“No, esta bien. Ve a sentarte con tu novio.” M’ma replied.
Fenton went into the kitchen anyways.
Gyro loved when Fenton spoke Spanish. He loved the way that Fenton rolled his r’s. He just…loved Fenton.
Caught up in his own thoughts, Gyro didn’t even realize that Boyd was staring intently at something on the mantle.
Gyro walked over to where the young parrot was standing, and gasped softly when he saw a picture of little 8 year old Fenton, with a bad haircut and missing tooth and everything.
“Oh. My. Selene.” Gyro said, in disbelief. “This is amazing!”
“What’s amazing?” Fenton poked his head out of the kitchen door.
“Ohh nothing. Just the cutest picture I’ve ever seen!” Gyro laughed as he held up the picture in question.
Fenton’s face instantly flushed 12 different shades of red. “O-oh that old thing? That’s nothing!”
Boyd snatched it out of Gyros hand before Fenton could grab it.
They scuffled over the picture for a while, all while Maria watched from the kitchen.
And she smiled softly, because her pollito had finally found love.

Fenro week 2022! Here’s the first chapter!
“10-4 to Gizmoduck, there is a bank robbery in progress, over.”
The crackly voice from the radio on Fenton’s desk cut through the still summer air like a hot knife through butter.
Fenton looked apologetically at Gyro. “I’m so sorry, Carino, but I have to take this.”
Gyro sighed. Of course someone would rob a bank right before their dinner date. “I know Fen. Just please be careful.”
Fenton nodded once, and then said, “Blathering Blatherskite!”
He flew out the window, and just like that, he was gone.
Gyro watched the empty space for a few moments, sighed, and went back to his blueprints. It was going to be a long night.
—-
He wasn’t quite sure what time it was when the call came through. All he knew was that it was a quiet, clear, starry night outside, and then all hell broke loose.
“Hello? Is this Dr. Gyro Gearloose?” A nasal female voice said.
“Yes?” He said distractedly. Fenton should have been back any second.
“Hello sir. I’m Brenda from Duckburg Municipal Hospital. It says here that you’re the emergency contact for Fenton Crackshell-Cabrera?” She said.
Gyro felt his blood turn to ice. “Y-yes? What happened to Fenton? Is he okay?”
“We’re not sure yet, sir. He’s still in surgery at the moment. Would you mind coming down to the hospital?” She asked, her tone unchanging.
Gyro didn’t hesitate to grab his keys and coat and head to the elevator. “I’ll be there in 5 minutes.”
Gyro definitely kept his promise (even if it came with a few tickets for running red lights) and was there in less than 5 minutes.
He ran up to the check-in desk. “I’mheretoseeFentonCrackshellCabreraplease.” He said breathlessly.
The nurse looked at him with mild alarm, but she checked a few pages and said, “Oh, you must be Gyro Gearloose. He’s in room 246. That’s up the stairs-“
She was cut off by Gyro already leaving and saying, “I’ll find it, thanks.”
He sprinted up the stairs as fast as his long legs would carry him, though when he was walking through the hallway he tried to keep his panic to himself out of respect.
When he finally reached Fenton’s room, however, he hesitated for just a second before knocking.
What if he saw something he didn’t want to see?
He decided it didn’t matter, and knocked on the door softly just in case his partner was sleeping.
It opened almost instantly, to reveal a small parakeet with a name tag that read ‘Nurse Juline.’
“Oh, hello there! Are you Gyro Gearloose?” She asked kindly.
“Yes. Is Fenton okay?” He asked without hesitation.
Nurse Juline smiled and said, “He’s gonna be just fine. He’s sleeping off the anesthesia at the moment, but he should be awake within the hour. Would you like to come in and wait?”
Gyro sighed with relief, and said, “Yes, please.”
Juline led him to a chair next to Fenton’s bed. “I’ll be back soon with some paperwork and some coffee.”
Once she left, Gyro finally took a good look at his boyfriend.
Fenton was sleeping peacefully, his left eye had a large purple splotch around it, and there was a bandage around his head.
Gyro sighed again in relief, and internally thanked whatever deity was truly out there that his love was still alive.
—-
It only took 25 minutes for Fenton to groggily open his eyes and say, “G-gyro?”
Gyro snapped up instantly and said, “Hey Fen. How are you feeling?”
“Ugh…like I got hit by a bus.” He replied, attempting to sit up.
“A semi-truck, actually.” Gyro responded pointedly.
Fenton looked confused, so Gyro pulled out his waddlephone and showed Fenton a video clip. It depicted Gizmoduck being hit at 80 miles an hour and the hero falling down a cliff out of sight.
Fenton looked sheepish at his mistake and said, “I’m sorry, Carino, I-”
“Sorry?! I’m just thanking my lucky stars that you’re okay! I could’ve lost you, Fen.” Gyro said, sounding close to tears.
“I-I know Carino. I just wasn’t thinking about myself. I thought the armor would protect me…” Fenton trailed off.
Gyro scoffed. “The armor did protect you. If you hadn’t been wearing it…well, I don’t really like thinking about that. You’re lucky you only had a bit of internal bleeding and a concussion.”
At this point, Fenton had succeeded at sitting up. “I know, mi amor, and I’m grateful that you’re worried about me, but I think you worry a bit too much.”
Gyro sat next to Fenton on the uncomfortable hospital bed. “Fenton, you’re my boyfriend. I’m never going to stop worrying about you. And…I don’t know what I would do without you.”
Fenton grabbed Gyro’s hand. “Carino, even if something happened to me, you would still have Boyd. And the McDucks.”
Gyro rolled his eyes. “Boyd couldn’t live without you either. He looks at you like a second parent, you know. And the McDucks…they just don’t get it.”
Fenton opened his mouth to speak again, but Gyro put a finger on his beak to silence him.
“Fenton, listen to me. I know you love being Gizmoduck, and I love supporting you, but if you can’t start taking care of yourself too, I don’t think I can do it anymore.” Gyro said.
Fenton stayed silent for a few moments, before saying, “Okay.”
Gyro cocked his head in confusion. “…okay what?”
Fenton started speaking in his rapid-fire tone. “I’ll give up being Gizmoduck. I’ll do it for you Gyro. And Boyd. You can destroy the Gizmosuit, and I-“
Gyro cut him off with a laugh. “Yeah right. That’s just the pain meds talking.” He checked his watch. “It’s three in the morning. Go back to sleep, and we’ll see how you’re feeling in the morning, okay?”
Fenton nodded, already drifting back to sleep. “G-goodnight Carino.”
Fenton was asleep within seconds, but Gyro still said, “Good night, Fen.”
—-
Gyro didn’t sleep that night. He kept watch over his love, just to make sure nothing else happened.
Because after all, he was nothing without his family.

Fenro week 2022 prompt 2! (There is guns and being shot in this one!)
Btw, the spacing is weird. Just ignore it lol
“FENTON GET DOWN!”
Fenton heard Gyro yell the warning far too late.
He heard a loud explosion, and felt a hot blast knock him to his back. The last thing he saw was Gyro falling right next to him.
—-
When Fenton awoke, he could immediately tell that something was wrong. His vision was all fuzzy, his beak felt weird, and his body felt stretched out, as if someone had put him through a noodle maker.
He sat up wearily, not missing the fact that his beak felt too small as he said, “Gyro?”
“Uggghhh…,” came the response.
“Gyro, are you okay?” Fenton asked again.
The world was still blurry, so Fenton could barely make out Gyro’s form sitting up
“Oh no. Oh no no no no no.” Gyro said, panicked.
“Gyro. What’s going on?!” Fenton said urgently.
There was a bit of shuffling, and something was placed in Fenton’s hand. “Here. Put these on and see for yourself.”
Fenton was confused, but he did as he was told. He figured out fairly quickly that the object in question was glasses, and the second he put them on, he saw what the problem was.
Gyro and Fenton had switched bodies.
It was very strange, looking at yourself from such a different perspective. Fenton attempted to stand up, but it was hard with Gyro’s long legs and skinny feet.
Gyro walked over to him and pulled him up.
“Woah! You’re so tall!” Fenton exclaimed. He had always wanted to be tall, but it unfortunately wasn’t in his genetics.
“Unfortunately. Now come over here. We have to figure out how to switch our bodies back before-“ Gyro was cut off by a crackled message from the radio, requesting help from Gizmoduck.
Gyro looked at Fenton in horror. “No. No way.”
“Gy…you have to. The Gizmosuit is only programmed for my body…and I’m not in it right now.” Fenton said apologetically.
Gyro rubbed his eyes and let out a deep sigh. “…okay. Fine.” He gritted out.
Fenton put a hand on Gyro’s shoulder. “Come on Gyro. You can do this.”
Gyro clenched his fists and hands and said, “Okay. Blathering Blatherskite.”
He kept his eyes firmly shut, but he heard the whooshing of metal through the air, and felt it clamp firmly around his body.
When Gyro opened his eyes, he was only a few inches taller than the height he was used to. The singular tire underneath him was unsteady, but since he created the suit, he knew how to control it.
“O-okay. I did it.” Gyro said shakily.
Fenton grimaced slightly. “That was the easy part, Carino. Now you have to go fight the bad guys.”
Gyro stared seemingly at nothing for a few moments, before saying, “Activate helmet-copter!” The flying machine popped out of the helmet, and however unwillingly, Gyro was off to save the city.
Gyro had no idea what he was doing. He knew some of the dumb commands that Fenton had come up with for the suit, but he had no experience with fighting. Hell, he had been beat up by a ten year old girl and stomped on by a woman with little to no training. He was part of team science, not team adventure. And while, yes, he had been roped into a few adventures with the McDuck’s, he only did it because he was an actual, certified genius, and those idiots were always finding ways to get themselves killed.
Lost in his own thoughts, Gyro realized that he had arrived at the crime scene far too soon for his own liking.
It looked like it was a hostage situation, with an active shooter and the Duckburg Police surrounding the building.
Gyro steeled what little nerves he had and rushed into the office complex. Several people were tied up with their shoes off, and there was a gruff-looking dog pointing his weapon at them.
“Don’t fear, citizens! I am here to save you!” Gyro said in his best Fenton-impression.
There was a slight pause, before the workers began cheering.
“Not on my watch.” The dog said with a southern drawl, turning his gun towards Gyro, firing a few rounds. He gulped, dodged the bullets, and used the robot-arms to stretch and take the gun from the southern offender. Gyro then spun him around and said, “You are under arrest!”
He handed off the criminal to the cops, who did the actual arresting, and after making sure everyone was alright, flew back to his lab, where Fenton was waiting nervously.
“Carino! Are you okay? How did it go?” Fenton fired off at rapid speed.
Gyro pressed the button that made the armor fall off, stepped forward, and promptly collapsed.
His side hurt. Like, really hurt. He pressed his hand to the aching spot, and when he brought it back, it was slick with something red and sticky.
Blood.
“Gyro!” Fenton said, hysterical.
“Fenton…I think, I think I got shot .” Gyro said weakly.
Just at that moment, the elevator dinged, and none other than Scrooge McDuck stepped out, looking very important. “Good evening, lads. How’s — what in the blazes?!”
His gaze stopped on Gyro’s bleeding form. “Someone please call 911.” Gyro said, his vision blurring around the edges.
Dark clouds were overtaking Gyro. He saw Scrooge talking fast and angrily on his phone, and the worried touch of his partner, and then…
Nothing.
—-
When Gyro awoke, which he wasn’t really expecting to, he was in an unfamiliar white room, surrounded by beeping machines and a full ache in his side.
There was no one around him, so he pressed the call button that was next to him and waited. Not long after, a tall male parrot with the name ‘Nurse Julian’ embroidered on the pocket walked in.
“Ah, Mr. Crackshell-Carera! You’re awake!” Nurse Julian said happily.
Gyro was startled for a second, until he remembered that he was still in Fenton’s body.
“O-oh, um, yeah.” Gyro said, unsure.
“Looks like you took a nasty hit. You’ve been out for 3 days! Such are the dangers of being a hero, I guess.” Julian winked at Gyro.
Gyro sighed, was silent for a second, and then said, “Is Fe-, I mean…is Gyro here?”
Nurse Julian smiled. “Yup. He hasn’t left. You want me to go get him?”
Gyro nodded. The nurse left, and Gyro only had a few moments before a very disheveled, well, him, burst through the door.
“Carino! You’re awake!” Fenton said loudly.
“Uh…yeah. What happened? I don’t remember much.” Gyro said.
Fenton sat in the chair that was next to the bed. “Well…you did actually get shot. A bullet hit a weak point in the armor, and…well, you know the rest.”
“Hmm. I didn’t feel any pain until I got back to the lab. Must’ve been adrenaline.” Gyro said casually, completely ignoring the fact that he had been shot. With a gun .
Fenton sighed. “Well, if you want to get some rest, I might go start working on getting our bodies switched back.”
Gyro winced. “Fen, are you sure ? The second we switch back, this becomes your hospital stay, not mine.”
“I’m sure. It’s a gizmoduck wound. It’s only fair that gizmoduck is there to heal from it.” Fenton said, ever the hero.
Gyro could feel his vision starting to blur around the edges, and knew he wasn’t going to stay conscious for much longer. “Well, if you’re sure…I might take you up on that offer. These pain meds are really doing a number on me.”
Fenton stayed and held Gyro’s hand until he fell asleep. Once he heard his partners soft snores, he got up and started walking to his car.
He was going to make this right.
