Ruby/Anna could have been such a good ship

Something I really miss are my old art classrooms from school/college/uni.

Like, i miss the space, the fact that every table had paint/ink on it, the gentle scratching of pencils/pens on paper, and the taps/swishes of paintbrushes being cleaned in old glass jars filled with water. The old radio playing the same songs in the background. The smell of tye dyes, inks, paints and freshly heat pressed fabrics. The hum of a sewing machines, printers clunking, the background noises of others talking about their work and inspirations. The cabinets full of art supplies and high quality paper that would often cause paper cuts. The way the light would pour in through the windows in summer and huddling around the portable heaters that we’d have to borrow from other classes in winter. Seeing sketchbooks, folders, materials and projects all arranged in workspaces of each person’s varying forms of organising their workspace. And that each classroom was within a five minute distance of a place to get good coffee. Low key miss the stress of deadlines too.

These memories are wonderful and I am truly lucky to have had these moments, but I miss them like crazy sometimes. Being in creative spaces, with creative people and creative background noise is great for the soul, and if I could do it all again, I would in a heartbeat :)

Thinking about how when I was in my peak "i am definitely a tomboy for real and not just forcing myself cause i think liking girly things is bad" phase that I decided my favorite movie was Live Free or Die Hard because it was like, the only action movie Id actually sat through and I HAD to like action films best.

Does anyone else miss wanting to play the b side of a cassette again and again and the only way to do that was to take it out of the player and use a pencil to rewind it bc I do I miss the physicality of music I hate just touching a button to loop things I miss being really careful with cds bc if you scratch it then the bit with the piano skips endlessly and I miss when cars had a smal slot for cds to go in and I miss being able to pick out yanni and Simon and garfunkel and ABBA and the beatles in the dark bc my hands knew the shape of the cases and I miss when music meant you felt it with your whole body and I miss the speakers that my tinny phone can't compare to and I miss picking the little radio up by its handle and carrying it to different rooms I miss when music made me feel things
