When I think back on the Fearless album and all that you turned it into, a completely involuntary smile creeps across my face. This was the musical era in which so many inside jokes were created between us, so many hugs exchanged and hands touched, so many unbreakable bonds formed. So before I say anything else, let me just say that it was a real honor to get to be a teenager alongside you. And for those of you I've come to know more recently than 2008, I am ecstatic that I'll get to experience a bit of that feeling with you in the very near future. Now that I can fully appreciate it in its whimsical, effervescent, chaotic entirety.

Fearless was an album full of magic and curiosity, the bliss and devastation of youth. It was the diary of the adventures and explorations of a teenage girl who was learning tiny lessons with every new crack in the facade of the faIrytale ending she'd been shown in the movies.

I always looked at this album as my album, and the lump in my throat expands to a quivering voice as I say this. Thanks to you, dear reader, it finally will be. I consider this music to be, along with your faith in me, the best thing that’s ever been mine.

I have to say… and I don’t want to sound like a hater… of all the re-records this is my least favourite :( it just doesn’t feel the same to me. the original recording feels much more passionate

so far I actually really love the new 1989! I’m not sure if this is a hot take or not but I don’t mind that the rerecordings sound different, I don’t want them to be the exact same because otherwise what’s the point when the originals already exist. I will probably get both on vinyl because I like both versions that much.

I’m so intrigued by what Taylor’s re-recording process is. Does she pick one album and work only on that one or does she bounce around albums as she pleases? Does she start with the vault tracks first or save them for last? How does she choose her new collaborators for the tracks? How does she decide the release order for the albums? Does she have a list of songs that she wanted to make singles and do music videos for at the time but didn’t and is doing it now? The whole process is just endlessly fascinating to me.
