Smash Bros Future Cast Part 2

Meta Knight and Dedede are both iconic Kirby villains, and not particularly likely to be cut, nor do they need reworks. Wario is the same for Mario, but a rework is a toss-up. Diddy is also huge, but has no guarantee.

Pit is in danger is Sakurai isn't back, with no new games in development. Still, he's got a decent chance of sticking around anyways, considering the series currently has three reps.

Ike and Pokemon Trainer both are from overcrowded series, and unlikely to stick around over new reps. Charizard could once again continue solo however, he's done it before and his popularity is still huge.

Lucas is pretty much dead, sadly. Mother is a dead IP, and Ness is rep enough for it, especially since Mother 3 is never leaving Japan.

Olimar is the base game's one guarantee, with Pikmin 4's success and his continued relevance to the franchise.

Brawl Unlockables Lucario *** / * R.O.B. ** / * Toon Link **** / * Wolf * / *

Star Fox's ill fortune makes Wolf being cut again quite likely. Lucario comes from the overcroweded Pokemon roster, but does at least have the sustained popularity to possibly make the cut. Toon Link is far more likely to stay than most semi-clones, but not a guarantee. And R.O.B. is really director's choice.

Brawl Third Parties Sonic ***** / ** Snake ** / *

Our first third parties! Sonic is the least likely of all third parties to be cut, but there's always a chance. Snake on the other hand seems quite unlikely if Sakurai isn't back to make the deal.

Smash 4 Base Villager ****** / ** Wii Fit Trainer *** / ***** (See notes) Rosalina & Luma *** / * Little Mac *** / * Greninja ** / * Mii Fighter ***** / *** Palutena ** / * Robin *** / * Shulk **** / *

We've got some interesting picks here. Villager is guaranteed to return, that one's easy. Mii Fighters allow for costume DLC so they're likely to stick around.

As for the rest… Rosalina & Luma are the most likely cuts from the crowded Mario franchise out of non-clones. But it is Mario, so maybe none? Greninja is in the same boat, and there's a ton of other Pokemon who could replace him.

Palutena is from a series that missed last gen, so she's in trouble. Little Mac missed two gens, but he's such a beginner friendly character he might be kept for that.

Robin has the saving grace of playing very uniquely among FE characters, and Awakening is still hugely influential. And XC DE + XC3 both made Shulk still quite relevant, so he's quite likely to stay no matter what the situation with XC reps.

And as for Wii Fit Trainer… I suspect either the character will be reimagined as Ring Fit Trainee or replaced with Dragaux… but most likely the former.

Smash 4 Unlockable / DLC Bowser Jr. *** / * Duck Hunt ** / * Corrin * / *

Corrin is from a much panned FE game, and there's way too many FE reps right now, and we'll likely get new ones. Bowser Jr. is in the same boat as Rosalina, while Duck Hunt is there with R.O.B.

Smash 4 Third Party / DLC Megaman ***** / * Pac-Man ***** / ** Ryu **** / * Cloud ** / * Bayonetta ****** / *

Pac-Man will only potentially get dropped if B-N isn't developing, which seems highly unlikely. Megaman and Ryu are also huge names, and Capcom's current attitude towards growing it's IPs means they'll definitely want to get them in. Ryu is more likely to be held back for DLC however. Bayonetta also is highly likely, as Nintendo is basically carrying that series. The only likely cut there I'd say would be Cloud, as Squeenix was notoriously hard to work with on adding him.

Nunca más será 1999? o mejor tarde que nunca II “El ataque de los rayos gamma” (las 15 canciones que me acompañaron este 2019… +Bonustrack)

                                          ¡Hola a todos!

Bienvenidos una vez más a este listado de las canciones que me acompañaron en este muy difícil… difícil... difícil… difícil... DIFÍCIL año pasado (SÍ se puede estar peor y este año me lo sigue confirmando). Y sí, como para no perder la costumbre, este listado es publicado a mediados del año en curso, aún no termina el año ¡ES VÁLIDO!  igualmente disculpen… el ánimo es escaso, la tecnología y los servicios básicos también (Exceso de socialismo). 

En fin, este listado está conformado por canciones que estuve escuchando durante el año que pasó, no necesariamente son del 2019, algunas pertenecen a películas y series que vi (las recomiendo) incluso memes (¡Nueva categoría!) soy una gran fan de los BSO, BGM, etc. Para escucharlas completas solo den click al título de la canción. Espero que lo disfruten y sin más preámbulo (sin ningún orden de relevancia) ¡Las seleccionadas!

1.- Turning Up - Arashi

No pueden faltar en mi lista de canciones ¡Mis consentidos! y no está de más celebrar su 20° aniversario ¡Felicidades!. El año pasado empezaron a dar sus primeros pasos en las plataformas streaming (Retransmisión en directo,​ retransmisión o emisión en continuo) y redes sociales por lo que este vídeo está en un canal oficial del grupo de Youtube ¡WIIIIIIII! (¿Por qué ahora…?) Este sencillo inaugura esta etapa… o ¿Despide?... de la banda. Divertido, alegre, con excelente coreografía, buen ritmo, ¡Sakura-rap! sin decepcionar a sus admiradores. Con un ámbito internacional-americana sin dejar de predominar el J-Pop, pasen un buen rato bajo ésta tormenta.

2.- Tálame el corazón - Los Leñazacks (Ricardo Mendoza Jr) - Milo Murphy's Law

Parece ser que pertenecer a una banda es un pasado oscuro que algunos quieren ocultar (¡Te veo a tí Robin Sparkles!) Tomando todos los clichés que una banda pop juvenil tiene, nos presentan a los Leñazacks con un tema tan pegadizo (Coreografía incluída) que no puedes dejar de tararear, cantar, murmurar… en inglés, español, portugués… Menos mal que no se me ocurrió colocarla de tono de llamada XD

3.- I Want It That Way - Backstreet Boys

Mi adolescente interior, lloró y gritó de la emoción al verlos en el Festival de Viña del Mar 2019, cantando todas las canciones del repertorio (¡NSYNC APESTA!), aún lamento que no pude ir a un concierto de ellos. All I Have To Give es mi canción favorita, pero I Want It That Way, conocida por algunos como Tell Me Why XD, se gana su lugar en el listado. Al cumplir 20 años de su lanzamiento, no han parado las interpretaciones de la misma o los recordatorios estilo Sabías que hace 20 años… De lo cual no me quejo para nada si es para recordar cosas buenas… (Ay que horror… llegó ese señor…) Un excelente sencillo para el lanzamiento del nuevo milenio, un pop suave y su inigualable coreografía, ¡Ese es Kevin cantando!, un reconocimiento al apoyo de sus fans. Es inevitable que se me ponga la piel de gallina al escucharlo y dato curioso, las actrices que hacen de fans en el vídeo no estaban actuando en realidad.

4.- The Greatest Show - Hugh Jackman, Keala Settle, Zac Efron, Zendaya - The Greatest Showman

Una película de culto... descubierta, admirada y guardada en el corazón de los tontos soñadores que buscan su lugar en el mundo, alimentados por la música, las letras y la fantasía, siendo ellos mismos, mostrándose como son. Si conoces la historia de P.T. Barnum y de este tipo de espectáculos, tal vez te haga ruido al principio, pero si te dejas llevar por el espíritu de la película y le das una oportunidad, te llegará el mensaje. This Is Me, definitivamente es el alma de ésta película, pero me decanto por The Greatest Show, al ser la invitación a soñar, en creer en lo imposible, abrir nuestras mentes a la imaginación, a la creatividad, a no dudar de quienes somos y valorar lo importante de la vida. Y como todo buen musical, tiene su reprise que cierra ésta hermosa película.

5.- Zeus - Pascu y Rodri - Destripando la Historia

Aunque a estas alturas, mis favoritas son Hades y Deméter, ésta fue la que inició este auge memético de Destripando La Historia. De iniciarse con versiones de canciones (Covers), hasta darse cuenta que el humor era lo suyo, Pascu y Rodri nos cuentan, sin ediciones, la vida de personajes de mitología, cuentos, fiestas, entre otros (Con detalles que por lo general son dejados por fuera) junto con varias referencias de la cultura geek y pop ¿Quién es ese pokémon? (Estoy hablando como Youtuber XD). En el caso de Zeus, diantres… ya veo porque tanto lío armado con este tío XD. Algo que me llama la atención, es el tino que tienen a la hora de musicalizar. En Zeus, es notable la influencia de Never Gonna Give You Up y el pop de los años 80, con un toque de saxofón para acentuar la exacerbada sensualidad del personaje… Sin dejar por fuera el Larai Larai LaLá, sello inconfundible de este par. XD (Y el conejo ¡El conejo os necesita!).

6.- Theme song - Doug Petty - Amphibia

Una hermosa y sencilla pieza instrumental es la intro de Amphibia, el isekai de Disney de 2019 XD. Anne Boonchuy, una adolescente de nuestro mundo, es transportada mágicamente a un pantano lleno de gente rana y conoce a Sprig y a su familia (¡Adoro a AbuHop! es más de lo que parece). Lo que me encanta de la canción es, en primer lugar el violín como instrumento principal que lleva la batuta, segundo va in crescendo a medida que avanza la música, agregándole más instrumentos, silbidos para destacar la naturaleza rural del ambiente, y por último, a punto de llegar al final, un par de notas graves que dan un dejo de misterio y oscuridad después de tanta ingenuidad, tal vez asociada con el misterio más grande de la historia y otros temas no tan alegres (Canibalismo, discriminación, acoso, opresión). Nota curiosa, Spring es un gran violinista y más de una vez se le ha visto tocar en la serie ¿Será el intérprete de este tema? 

7.- Honto no Kotoba - Foot Stamp - Gokusen

Gokusen es un manga escrito de Kozueko Morimoto, una maestra novata tiene que darle clases a un grupo de problemáticos, lo que no saben es que en realidad ella es la heredera de un poderoso grupo yakuza. Tuvo un popular y divertido dorama protagonizado por Yukie Nakama y Jun Matsumoto (SÍ, el de Arashi) para después ser adaptado (los primeros 7 volúmenes) como anime por Madhouse. Precisamente el opening de este último es quien ocupa éste lugar en el listado. No puedo negar lo mucho que me reía cada vez que Kumiko sacaba su lado Yakuza XD y recordaba esos tiempos de antaño donde el subtitulado era hecho con un gran esmero (¿Dónde quedaron los NT?). La canción es muy amena, divertida, adecuada con el tono de la serie, donde no puedes dejar de imaginar que seguramente un patota de manganzones, peleones pero muy leales, podrían estar cantándola XD, como una canción del grupo. 

8.- Diggy Diggy Hole - Wind Rose

Los orígenes de "Diggy Diggy Hole" provienen de Yogscast de Youtube, es una frase popular que utilizó cuando jugaba Minecraft en su serie "Shadow of Israphel" Part 8: Diggy Diggy Hole, posteriormente se hicieron animaciones y se hicieron populares, una de ellas es YOGSCAST: Diggy Diggy Hole Animation. Sin embargo, la que ocupa este listado es la versión de Wind Rose, una banda italiana (SÍ, son italianos, no parecen, no cantan nasal) de folk metal fundada en 2009, cuyas letras se inspiran en la obra de Tolkien y su estética en los enanos de Tolkien. Es el single de su cuarto albúm Wintersaga. Al escucharla, definitivamente no puedes dejar de imaginarte estar bebiendo aguamiel después de una jornada golpeando el acero, si te llaman enano y eso te ofende, solo piensa en ésta canción y no te sentirás más digno de pertenecer a tan heroica raza, o al menos de tener la fortaleza para ponerlos en su lugar y que no se vuelvan a meter contigo XD “No componemos canciones, las forjamos contra el yunque".

9.- Sunflower - Post Malone, Swae Lee - Spiderman Into The Spider-Verse

Una de las mejores películas de Spiderman y con más méritos para ser nominada a mejor película que Black Panther, en fin… Su banda sonora es excelente, una muy cohesionada selección de temas del género Rap y Hip Hop, hasta con un detalle humorístico con A Very Spidey Christmas. Posiblemente, What's Up Danger sea el centro de la película, el gran clímax, el salto de fe; no obstante (Parece costumbre mía) me decantó por Sunflower, descrita como una balada funky y soñadora, es relajante, es alegre, pegadiza y aparece tres veces en la película, imposible no terminar tarareándola. Tal vez, para esa época, Nanaka617 solo buscaba su lugar feliz… (¡No quiero usar el periódico! ¡No soy un animal!) ¿Pueden culparme? 

10.- Portals - Alan Silvestri - Avengers: Endgame

22 películas, 22 historias entrelazadas, decenas de personajes, tramas, cameos de Stan Lee y escenas postcréditos nos llevan a este momento… y no pudo ser mejor orquestado. Algo que he criticado del MCU (No, no es diversidad) es la falta de continuidad en la musicalización de sus personajes, no había un tema que identificara a sus héroes, salvos con excepciones y una de esas fue Avengers, quien precisamente su compositor regresa para este cierre. Si es por la escena, si es por la música, la combinación de ambas; pero sin duda es una de los más épicos clímax de películas de superhéroes, difícil de superar o de volver a nivelar. Inicia con un tono derrotista, el cual cambia a medida que empiezan a abrirse los portales y aparecen los personajes (mención honorífica Wakanda y su ¡Yibambe!, Spiderman, What, you wanted more? de Wong y Valkyrie en su caballo alado) mientras que los metales de viento renuevan el ambiente de esperanza, in crescendo, entra la percusión, acelerando, acelerando y luego… un silencio.. ASSEMBLE... explosión y la fanfarria de Avengers para cerrar. En ese momento perdí toda la compostura que tenía en la sala de cine y me dejé llevar por el frenesí, la gran esperada batalla había empezado ¡Y POR FIN EL CAPI DIJO EL GRITO DE GUERRA!. Esos momentos del cine en que te conectas al mismo son de un grupo de extraños, son los que valoro, y sí, cada cierto tiempo debo hacer mi travesía, pero al entrar a la sala, a esa oscuridad acogedora y con olor a cotufas con la posibilidad de adentrarme a ese mundo y vivir experiencias como las antes descritas, no hay comodidad de casa u opciones a la mano que valgan la pena. Tal vez esta salida fue criticada por algunos, considerada banal o inapropiada a los tiempos que vivimos, pero son esos momentos los que me recuerdan que lo que vivo NO ES NORMAL y no debe ser así, que hay cosas mejores y que se debe seguir adelante… (Shirley Temple y la Gran Depresión).

11.- Show Yourself - Idina Menzel, Evan Rachel Wood - Frozen II

En mi opinión, Show Yourself es para Frozen II lo que es Let It Go para Frozen. Aunque el tema promocional fue Into The Unknow, para no salirme de mi costumbre XD, me decanto por este tema. Para mí, este es el tema esencial de la película, o al menos el de la historia de Elsa al culminar su desarrollo, entender el pasado para descubrir su propósito y aceptarse como es. Dato curioso, incluye elementos de otras canciones de la película como la anteriormente mencionada Into The Unknow y All Is Found. Adoro el acompañamiento de piano, la armonía de las voces, y lo confieso, lloré cuando Elsa descubre que esa voz que la llamaba era su madre, el amor de una madre que vela por su hija, incluso Mucho más allá (momento “Sensacional” del listado XD).

12.- S.O.S. d'un terrien en detresse - Dimash Kudaibergen

Que “artistas” que no le llegan al subsuelo a Dimash, tanto en talento, preparación e interpretación; se encuentren constantemente en los medios, con la aceptación y admiración de muchos (Ustedes sabeeeen), de verdad es imperdonable. Desde que escuché a Dimash mi vida cambio, no es cierto… pero mis expectativas en cuanto a calidad vocal aumentaron… DEMASIADO. Un joven kazajo que no pasa la treintena de edad, que prácticamente aprendió a cantar antes que hablar, con excelente pronunciación en varios idiomas, muy cute, con un talento (no por nada le ofrecieron a trabajar en la Ópera de Astana) y un don de gente ha maravillado a quienes han tenido la dicha de escucharlo. En internet pueden conseguir cantidad de videos de reacción de vocal coach maravillados de su talento y las impresiones grabadas de las personas que asisten a sus presentaciones, lo dicen todo. Lo que me maravilla, es la facilidad que tiene de cambiar de grave a agudo, de bajo a soprano, con una facilidad que no ves esfuerzo en su rostro, la única vez que lo vi con cara de esfuerzo fue cuando emitió un registro que solo los perros pudieron escuchar XD. Me terminó de conquistar con el tema de este listado y no voy a negarlo, me cautivó de tal manera que se me aguaron los ojos al escucharlo. 13.- One In A Billion - Wake Up, May'n! - Isekai shokudo

Una agradable sorpresa cuando me mostraron este anime. En un mundo lleno de isekai... aparece éste con una temática no tan única... pero como fue el primero de este estilo que vi… fue novedosa para mí... (Mmm… mala rima). Basado en la novela ligera de Junpei Inuzuka, cada episodio nos habla de un personaje cuya vida cambió desde que probó la comida del Nekoya (Detalle cómico, los personajes tienen como apodo su platillo favorito) del cual explican la preparación y la influencia que tuvo en sus vidas… ¡ADVERTENCIA! si vas a verlo procura comer antes, porque sino vas a pasar hambre por lo delicioso que se ve la comida. El opening es kawai, el típico tema de un grupo de idols singers con más miembros que granos de arena en la playa (Está bien exagero, menos que AKB48 más que Momoiro Clover Z), identificadas por un color y comunes en Japón, pero como me vi de tirón el anime, fue inevitable que se me pegara XD... Irasshaimase.

14.- Deja Vu - Dave Rogers - Initial D

Un origen menos contemporáneo, el tema pertenece al BGM de Initial D, como lo señalé en el título, específicamente aparece en el episodio 13 de la segunda temporada. No obstante, gracias al tiempo disponible que tienen la gente en crear memes y a un amigo que no perdió el tiempo en mostrarme compilaciones de videos de maniobras de conducción o carrera por parte de carros, tanques, portaaviones, hamsters… con buenos y malos desenlaces… como no esperar que quedara grabada en mi cabeza. Si me concentro aún puedo recrear el tema en mi cabeza con un ¡Pendejo! de fondo cuando había un choque. En fin, si te gusta el eurobeat, te gusta la velocidad, espero que no te inspire acelerar por la bajada de Tazón… yo preferiría No One Sleep in Tokyo. 15.- Eclipsa's Song (Here I Am) - Esmé Augusta Bianco - Star vs. the Forces of Evil

Eclipsa la Reina del Mal, no puede ser más contraria a la fama que tiene, adorable, amante de los chocolates y las rosas, con un dejo de ingenuidad, pero sí tiene su toque tenebroso XD. Una forma de tratar de ganar la confianza de sus súbditos fue con ésta canción, una balada de guitarra acústica donde muestra sus mejores intenciones, tan dulce y calmada como su personalidad (Me pregunto como habrá sido su canción de princesa...). Lástima que la desconfianza y el prejuicio hacen mella en este intento, aunque al final alguien parece estar dispuesto a darle una oportunidad “Prefiero ser odiada por ser quién soy, a ser amada por fingir alguien que no soy"

16.- Raise your flag - Man With A Mission - Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans

¡Materia Pendiente! Necesito terminar de ver este Gundam que presenta, sin defraudarme, varios de los elementos que me hacen fan de Gundam. Entre estos elementos, está un excelente opening. En pocas palabras, adoro la energía que emite la canción, esa batería que va marcando el tiempo, especialmente en el coro cuando hay una pausa, un “silencio”, foco en la voz y vuelve la batería con la misma energía. Totalmente frenético. Solo tienen que escucharla.

Y bueno, esto es todo… ¿Tiene algún sentido que lo siga haciendo? Bueno, se me hace difícil perder las costumbres y es difícil dejar una tradición. Además, si algo te entretiene, te sirve de catarsis y te recuerda que las cosas pueden ser mejor, creo que puede ayudar. Espero que la próxima vez que nos leamos sea en mejores condiciones… Que la razón sea quien guíe tus pasos, el resentimiento es malo aconsejando... ¡NO TE ACOSTUMBRES!

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate - Which fighters are more anime?

You know, people often accuse certain fighters of being “too anime“. But does being Japanese-styled simply make a character “anime“, even if they’re not in any anime material? “Anime“ itself refers to the grand majority of Japanese cartoons, after all - it’s primarily in the animation. You wouldn’t call manga alone “anime“ because it’s not animated - it’s printed stills. In fact, why the H don’t people use the term “manga“ for these Japanese-styles?

Well, I say that’s not good enough. Plenty of “anime“-looking characters don’t even get their own anime stuff. So here’s what I’m gonna do. I’ll sort the fighters based on what anime material they’ve appeared in.

Higher-up tiers will take priority over lower tiers, so some fighters in the Anime (Series) tier may also be in anime movies, or anime-style commercials. I’ll give some mention to those if I can.

-= ANIME (GAME CUTSCENES) =- - This is for fighters who were in games with anime-style cutscenes and whatnot. - Super Mario World: Mario & Yoshi’s Adventure Land: Yoshi - Fire Emblem: Three Houses: Byleth - Wario Land: Shake It: Wario - (also) Pokémon Channel: Pichu, Squirtle (in Pichu Brothers) - (also) Sonic Riders: Sonic - (also) Street Fighter 4 (all versions): Ryu, Ken - (also) Tatsunoko vs Capcom: Cross Generation of Heroes: Ryu - (also) Persona 5: Joker - ...Actually, Chrom was technically in anime-style game cutscenes in Tokyo Mirage Sessions # FE. Not the same as the general Chrom, but...

-= NOT ANIME =- - ...And now all the fighters that WEREN’T in any kind of anime. If I counted manga, then this would be pretty empty, but we’re focusing on anime here. So! Let’s see which fighters are NOT anime! - Daisy, Dr. Mario, Rosalina & Luma (forgot their avatar), Bowser Jr., Diddy Kong, King K. Rool, Sheik, Ganondorf, Young Link, Toon Link, Samus, Dark Samus, Zero Suit Samus, Ridley, Wolf, Ness, Lucas, Ice Climbers, Lucina, Roy, Robin, Corrin, Mr. Game & Watch, Snake, Olimar, Alph, R.O.B., Isabelle, Wii Fit Trainer, Little Mac, Mii Fighters, PAC-MAN, Shulk, Duck Hunt, Inkling, Simon, Richter, Hero (Eleven, Solo, Eight), Banjo & Kazooie - Ones that really are anime in hindsight: Donkey Kong, Zelda, Chrom - Castlevania does have an animated series, but it’s being done by Americans. While the style is anime-inspired, it’s not officially Japanese-drawn or -animated (much like Avatar: The Last Airbender) ...so it’s not anime. Besides, I don’t think Simon or Richter have appeared in it. It’s mainly focused on Trevor’s time. - The pseudo-3D anime style didn’t appear in Fire Emblem cutscenes until Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia, which was after the release of Fates. This trend would, however, continue in Fire Emblem: Three Houses.

Ahem...so there you have it! Iggy is more anime than Shulk. Wario is more anime than Lucina. And Piranha Plant is more anime than three of the playable Heroes!

...But if you REALLY don’t want any more “anime” in Smash, then you better kiss Dante, Viewtiful Joe, KOS-MOS, Lloyd Irving, and Heihachi (and probably others) goodbye.

Its due to the bloat of Fire Emblem characters and several of them are Echo fighters that attitude towards FE is so venomous. Particularly because the last one Corn of Fire Emblem Fates was a polarizing character in his game, the fact they're all swordsman with only Ike, Robin, and Corn having variety to their styles doesn't help. While Hero is used to represent multiple Echo Fighters with a single DLC, much like Boswer Jr. and the Koopalings are all echoes of him.

This seems to be the consensus of the many replies I received.

But hey, look on the bright side: no new FE characters for a while, right?

So as a follow up to that, a whole list of every character I can think of that I'd like to see in Smash Brothers, by series.

Mario: The Koopalings, separate from Bowser Jr and given movesets faithful to their boss fights. Give 'em the weapons from NSMBU, while you're at it.

Also, Birdie'd be nice to see.

Donkey Kong: Dixie and Cranky.

Zelda: Skull Kid+Majora's Mask, Ghirahim, Fi, Linkle. Koume+Kotake'd be fun, either separately or as Twinrova. Any of the Champions from BotW are also solid candidates.

Metroid: X Parasites'd be a creative one to play around with. Mother Brain's final form is also an option, albeit a ridiculous one.

Yoshi: Kamek. I wanna see him as a Yoshi antagonist specifically. Give him a Kammy alt/echo if you're feeling generous.

Kirby: Galacta Knight as either a Meta echo or unique. BWD, Magolor, or Marx'd also be fun to see, and Queen Sectonia's first form has potential. For old school, can't go wrong with Gooey.

Star Fox: uhh idk man. Maybe Leon as Wolf's answer to Falco? There's also Krystal, I guess. Dunno much about her.

Pokemon: Back in Smash 4 I was hoping they'd add Sceptile as a grass starter to complete the trio of Greninja and Charizard. (Now that Pokemon Trainer's back, substitute "Incineroar" for Charizard.) In terms of non-starters, how about one of the regional birds, like Staraptor or Talonflame?

Luigi: E. Gadd and King Boo are both solid options. I'd personally prefer King Boo, though.

Earthbound/Mother: Bring back Porky! This time in his mech from Earthbound instead of his one from Mother 3. Also, Masked Man as either an echo for Lucas or a standalone fighter.

Fire Emblem: Hector, maybe even as an Ike echo. And can we finally get some kind of FE villain? Hardin, Medeus, Black Knight, Gangrel, SOMEONE? In a perfect world I'd love to see Katarina from New Mystery of the Emblem, but there's no chance in hell of that!

Kid Icarus: Magnus, please? Or Viridi, Medusa, or Hades.

Wario: Thought I forgot Waluigi, didn't you? Also, Captain Syrup, and someone from WarioWare, probably Ashley or Orbulon or Jimmy G.

Metal Gear: I dunno enough about the series to comment here. Raiden, maybe.

Sonic: Eggman in a mech like Bowser Jr. Also, Metal Sonic with Metal Overlord as a cinematic Final Smash. (...though not as long a cutscene, please) Any of the playable cast from the Advances, Adventure or Adventure 2 are also acceptable. Yes, even Big the Cat.

Pikmin: I'd say Emperor Bulblax but he's a little on the gross side. How 'bout that thing from 3, what was it called, Plasm Wraith? Yeah, that.

R.O.B.: Can we have a ROB rerelease where the nameless professor is retconned to be E. Gadd? If so, see above.

Animal Crossing: Dunno how much more can be done with the series as far as moveset, but perhaps Tom Nook?

Mega Man: Bass, Proto Man, X, or Zero.

Punch-Out: Sandman, anyone? Just exaggerate Mac's power and make him a bit slower.

Pac-Man/Namco Arcade Games: Uh... do the ghosts have enough established to make a moveset? I dunno. Get creative!

Xenoblade Chronicles: How about Riki or Fiora? Or someone from 2 or X, I dunno much about them.

Street Fighter: M. Bison or Akuma come to mind first, but again, not super familiar with this series.

Final Fantasy: Golbez, Cecil, Exdeath, Kefka.

Bayonetta: Jeanne or Rodin? Or that one cloaked divine guy with the super cinematic fight? What was his name? The Prophet? I dunno.

Splatoon: Octolings. Echo or not, I was a little sad to not see them there.

Castlevania: Alucard or Soma Cruz. Honestly, Soma's my pick if I have to choose one.

Banjo-Kazooie: Gruntilda of course. Klungo also has potential, tbh.

Now for unrepresented franchises.

Mario RPGs: ...ANY MAJOR ANTAGONIST. Cackletta, Kammy, Fawful, Princess Shroob, Midbus, Grodus, Lord Crump, Bleck, Dimentio, Antasma. The list goes on. And also Vivian. Give her some love, dammit! (Also, obligatory Geno. Almost forgot. Whoops!)

Indie stuff: Shovel Knight, Specter Knight, Shield Knight, Madeline/Badeline, Ghost (Broken Vessel/Shade alt?) Hornet, Quirrel, Robin, Hat Kid/Bow Kid, Mustache Girl, Drifter, Rusty, Dorothy McCrank, Rosie, Vectron in some form, Piper Faraday, any of the playable five from SteamWorld Quest but if you have to choose one make it Armilly, Gilgamech, Hyapathia, Red Queen, Chop Sue, Yooka-Laylee. There's probably some I'm missing, to be honest.

Other: Someone from ARMS, maybe? Do people still care about that?
