Adora my dear, don't ever disspear you can do whatever you want as long as you stay here
I need you now
I love you so much more than you could ever know
The solider kids were nothing but a gift and love is a tower where all of us can live.
You can change you name or change your mind and leave this fucked up place behind.
But I'll know, I'll know, I'll know, I'll know
I'll know, I'll know
I'll know, I'll know
Appearing unsightly, with devils inside me
If you ever try to leave me, I'll find you Adora
If you ever try to leave me, I'll find you Adora
If you ever try to leave me, I'll find you Adora
If you ever try to leave me, I'll find you Adora

David Tennant as Davina.
I am watching YouTube and having a bit of a David Bowie fest.....and Boys keep Swinging video came up. I have not watched the video for ages although I listen to the track often, it's on Lodger, one of my favourite Bowie albums and very underrated. Well I realised I think David Tennant's character Davina reminds of Bowie in Drag in that video..who in turn was doing it as a homage to Romy Haag.... a trans woman who he had a thing with during the Berlin years.
David Bowie in Boys keep Swinging video.
Romy Haag...with Bowie in a few photos.
No one will tell me that DT wasn't inspired by DB, who was in turn by RH. I love seeing a full circle moment. Love my connections of joining the dots... lol.
https://faroutmagazine.co.uk/romy-haag-the-forgotten-muse-of-david-bowie/
Interesting article about Romy in link.
As a Bowie admirer I knew of Romy, but was also aware of some wonderful images /book that were taken in the 70s by a fabulous photographer Anno Wilms, who also published a book of the Lindsay Kemp Company who I worked with.

If this link doesn't work, go to the kemp one below and then scroll upwards to find section or downwards and it's near the bottom on the page. Stunning images.
Even DT's biblical times Crowley gives me that vibe too...lol

There's a post going round explaining why Stephen Amell is a scab. And I don't want to hijack that post, so I'm doing a whole new post.
Because I got fixated on this: “Nick Cage has a crippling dinosaur bone addiction and somehow managed to stay the picket line soooo.“
He what now?
I knew he had a habit of living it up and going on major spending sprees to the point where he would go broke, and then he’d have to make another movie, which is why he has made some questionable career decisions. But “a crippling dinosaur bone addiction”?????
So I did a basic internet search and yeah, he buys a lot of dinosaur bones.
But then I read: “Leonardo DiCaprio got into a bidding battle with Cage over this rare dinosaur skull but Cage emerged victorious, having paid more than $270,000 for the fossil. Almost six years later, things were complicated by the discovery that the auction house had obtained the skull from someone who had illegally imported fossils from China and Mongolia.“ (Source: https://faroutmagazine.co.uk/nicolas-cage-leonardo-dicaprio-dinosaur-skull/) Cage returned it to Mongolia and never got money back for it. But the whole incident inspired him to now hunt for the Holy Grail?!?!?! (Source: https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/nicolas-cage-explains-his-dinosaur-skill-fiasco-his-hunt-literal-holy-grail-1229919/)
TL;DR: TIL Nic Cage got into a money battle with Leonardo DiCaprio over a stolen dinosaur skull and is now obsessed with finding the Holy Grail.

Pattie Boyd was only 21 when she lived out every girl’s fantasy, a moment in which George Harrison got down on one knee and proposed. In the beginning, it seemed destiny had pulled them together; however, they’d eventually drift in different directions as time passed. Ultimately, the couple became unrecognisable to the ones who fell madly in love with one another.
“It was really fabulous in the beginning. We were both so young, we were able to go out, hang out, play, I introduced him to my friends,” Boyd once explained. “We had a wonderful time. He’d go off on tour and I’d hang out with my friends, while we all waited for George to come back. He was really the sweetest guy, and my family loved him, my mother particularly adored him.” said Pattie Boyd.

When Miles Davis named the five geniuses of American music
(Credits: Far Out / Tom Palumbo)
Dale Maplethorpe (Far Out Magazine):
Miles Davis will go down as arguably one of the most honest musicians who ever became famous, perfectly personified by his attendance at an awards ceremony at the White House. When asked by someone he described as a “politician’s wife” why America is so keen on neglecting jazz, he answered, “Jazz is ignored here because the white man likes to win everything.”
The woman asked in retaliation, “What have you done that’s so important in your life?”, to which he responded, “Well, I’ve changed music five or six times.”
He’s not wrong, either. The release of specific Miles Davis albums, from Birth of the Cool to Kind of Blue to Bitches Brew, are viewed less as good moments in musical history and instead as defining moments in American culture. He is the most influential trumpeter and one of the most influential musicians to ever take to the stage, with a sound and style that would shape how America – and subsequently the world – viewed the production of sound.
His honest attitude towards himself and his music contributed to his success. He could critique himself to the extent that he could bring out the best in his music. He could also look at the music surrounding him to see what was missing and pick out what was wrong with the current musical landscape. That often led to him getting in trouble with some artists, but it also meant when we see the names of those he refers to as geniuses, we can take it at face value.
Davis had previously rubbed American composer Leonard Bernstein the wrong way when he refused to play anything from West Side Story, saying he thought it was “corny shit”. However, when he wrote to Bernstein on his 70th birthday, with decades to reflect on the music and see its impact on the world, he was willing to admit that Berstein was a genius. In doing so, he listed the five people who shaped American music, changing it for the better forever.
Davis dismissed his previous comments in his letter, confessing West Side Story “turned out to be a classic.” He also noted that Bernstein is one of the great geniuses of American Music. “You are one of America’s true geniuses, along with Monk, Gillespie, Mingus and Parker,” he said.
There is no doubt, looking back, that Davis’s comments on Bernstein are correct. He was one of the first composers whose music expanded outside of America, leading to him cementing himself as one of the greats with a plethora of accolades attached to his name. The same can be said about Thelonious Monk, who worked with Davis previously and had a unique improvisational style that broke barriers and showed musicians how limitless their sounds could be.
The other musicians Davis refers to are Dizzy Gillespie, Charles Mingus and Charlie Parker. All of them were musicians who had worked well with Davis in the past and helped contribute towards the musical landscape that eventually enveloped American culture. There is no doubt that Miles Davis changed music about five or six times, as he professed during that White House dinner, and Bernstein, Monk, Gillespie, Mingus and Parker are four or five musicians who helped him change it.

Sorry, in seriousness, he has mentioned being a fan of Fellini, Kubrick, and French new wave films but we don’t know that he’s ever been explicitly asked “what are your favorite movies” in an interview //
He’s always mentioned his favorite movies, most recently just last year. There are many interviews he’s talked about them, having their posters, etc. there are also a lot of film references in his lyrics. There are so many sources that it’s hard to gather ALL of them here, but with enough time you can find them.

"Discussing the first handful of times he heard their music, Iommi thought that Van Halen had been copying his signature licks, saying, “They watched us almost every night from the side of the stage, and they’d pick things up from us, seeing what worked, and what got the crowd going. But it was just a bit awkward when we’d come on stage, and it felt like we were just doing what they were doing. One night, I said to Eddie, ‘Hey, Eddie, are you gonna play a couple of tracks off our new album tomorrow?’
Even though there may have been a bit of passive aggression when on the road, Iommi and Eddie would quickly become the best of friends when off the road, swapping stories about working with their various lead singers and discussing gear. When looking at both players, though, their styles have more than a few similarities."

Was this before they were both mates with Brian or did Brian have to listen to Tony complain about Eddie copying him?
Did Tony accuse Eddie of even copying him in being friends with Brian?

IMAGINING OCEAN CHILD:
OVERDUE HOMAGE TO AN ICONIC EXILED VISIONARY
– tribute by David D. Fowler / playlists by Aeon 999
– updated & expanded Feb 26, 2023
This post is MFF's tribute to YOKO ONO's music, multimedia works, filmmaking, performance art – and of course, her relentless peace activism.
We present links to the best available editions of most of her discography, and lots of items documenting her extraordinary life. Her many collaborations with JOHN LENNON are highlighted, as well as those with musicians such as LADY GAGA, SONIC YOUTH, FRANK ZAPPA, IGGY POP, FLAMING LIPS, SEAN LENNON, and various remix artists.
We also invite you visit our previous tribute to Yoko and John, – which has been totally overhauled and expanded, in honor of Yoko's 90th birthday. In 1970, the Ono Lennons separately issued their first solo albums. What if they had instead merged all that material into one release, alternating their songs in a similar way to their 1980 swan song, DOUBLE FANTASY? We offer our version of the resulting double album – along with lots of other entertaining items.
To go to that post, click the first link at the bottom of the page. You'll also have access to our other posts about John Lennon and the Beatles. Finally: all blessings of birth upon Ocean Child. We are happy to honor this extraordinary woman's life – as she marks nine decades of gracing this beleauguered earthly sphere with her immense talent, fearless integrity, and inspiring strength.

THE FORGOTTEN MUSIC CAREER OF JOE PESCI
WATCH THE VIDEO HERE (NO. 9): https://www.mentalfloss.com/.../forgotten-music-careers...
Before he was an actor, JOE PESCI was a barber and a musician. In his earliest days, he played guitar with several bands, including JOEY DEE AND THE STARLIGHTERS, an outfit that JIMI HENDRIX and Joe played guitar with at different times in the 1960s.

Frank Zappa confesses!
“When I heard ‘Like a Rolling Stone’, I wanted to quit the music business”
Tom Taylor for https://faroutmagazine.co.uk/
Frank Zappa was not a man who had many heroes. He was wary of the ways of the world and had the wherewithal to view his peers for what they were rather than celebrating them like idols and sinking into the past of their output. Zappa was all about pioneering the future and he felt hero-worship was a hurdle that got in the way of that.
Nevertheless, he was only human, and some tracks seem so heaven-sent that it would be a sin not to revere the ground that their sound resides over. This is the case with the defining American rock ‘n’ roll anthem of ‘Like a Rolling Stone’ by Bob Dylan.
In the song, Dylan crucifies the crux of counterculture’s exposed achilles heel—and he does it with such disdain that the world would never truly be the same when his cutting intellect, stirring poetry and the brilliance of the soaring melody all mingled into one pop culture opus.
Zappa’s appraisal of the track is pretty much that. “When I heard ‘Like a Rolling Stone’,” Zappa told the writer Clinton Heylin, “I wanted to quit the music business.” That is quite a statement considering that when it was released in July 1965 Zappa was yet to release an official studio album and he would go on to unleash 62 of his own.
He continued: “I felt [that] if this wins and it does what it’s supposed to do, I don’t need to do anything else.” The song heralded the same sort of iconoclasm and societal incision that Zappa would champion throughout his career, but much like the moustachioed guitar God, Dylan’s anthem is actually more cult than you might think.
While the track is revered as a masterpiece and is rightfully recognised as one of it not the greatest song of all time, it somehow only wound up only reaching 41 on the US Billboard end of year charts. As Zappa wearily continued, “But it didn’t do anything. It sold but nobody responded to it in the way that they should have.”
While the brilliance of the anthem might not have been fully reflected in its reception, it has a legacy as rich as any that proves befitting of the masterpiece itself. Commercially it might not have accrued great masses and the revolution hidden in the welter of the words might not have fully materialised, but as Paul McCartney once said, with the song “he showed all of us that it was possible to go a little further.”
In truth, there is an unrelated quote from another iconoclast named Serge Gainsbourg that helps to define the legacy of the grisly, thistle-grabbing anthem. “Ugliness is in a way superior to beauty,” he once said, “because it lasts.” ‘Like a Rolling Stone’ is still yet to gather any moss as it blazes a trail of just what rock ‘n’ roll music can be, and with that timeless intent in mind, Dylan went electric, embraced charged particles, and changed the world for a second time in a matter of years… Thankfully, it didn’t sell so many copies that Zappa hung up his hat before we had even seen it.

Cary Grant, Rita Hayworth and Richard Barthelmess make an awkward triangle in Only Angels Have Wings (1939). John Carpenter recently listed his 10 greatest films for the British film magazine Sight and Sound's decennial list of the 100 greatest films. Only Angels Have Wings was one of four Howard Hawks films on Carpenter's list that included Bringing Up Baby, Rio Bravo and Scarface.
