Interview Wambus!
Time to ask the farmer a few questions.
“Have time for an interview?”
Oh, sure! Sounds like a real hoot!
“Who are you?”
Oh, I write about and plant sauces around town! Usually you only find random plants or weeds here, but this island is a agriculturalist’s paradise!
“Uh… And your name…?”
Aw, jeez, right, my name! I’m Wambus Troubleham!
“Why come to Snaktooth Island?”
When I heard about the expedition, I reckoned I may as well keep plantin’ fruits and veggies for the rest of my life... or really broaden my horizons. Follow in my pa’s footsteps!
“Who’s your ‘pa’?”
Ya mighta heard of Griffith Troubleham? He was a chef, as intrepid an adventurer as Eggabell. Our old home was filled to the brim with his family recipes, n’ he passed on his love of cooking to me. Bless his heart!
“Thoughts on Bugsnax?”
Ain’t they really somethin’ else? There’re Bugsnax paintings here that date back a thousand years. The Grumpus civilization rises, falls and gets lost to time, but the Bugsnax are still here. They’re walkin’ archives of everything here!
“Why did you leave town?”
I didn’t leave, per se. More-so just stopped comin’ back. I wasn't even there when the fight broke out! Imagine my reaction when I found Triffany red with anger, ready to claw at Wiggle's throat.
“Is that why you and Triffany split?”
No, no, it's more complicated than that. I really did wanted her to go with me to my farm. But she wouldn't give up her dig site, not even for me. Hmph… What a bonehead!
“Any info on Eggabell?”
Charmin’ young lady, that Eggabell! We rarely met in town at the same time... N’ when we did, it was usually in the medical tent, while Lizbert patched us up. We told each other what we had discovered n’ compared the worst our scars had to offer!
“Jeez! You two got injured that often?”
No adventure is without danger! Well, farmin’ is much less risky, but the Troublehams have pretty unconventional methods. This never sat well with Liz. She hated it when people got hurt, ‘specially when it happened to Egg.
“What happened to Eggabell?”
Y’know, in a place like this there's a good chance you'll fall into a hole or get stuck in a crevasse here or there. Especially with all’a the earthquakes that shake the island… I’d hate to be a Debbie Downer, but it could be a thousand years before anyone finds out what happened to Eggabell.
“Thanks, Wambus. I learned a lot!”
Aw, shucks! Yer too kind! I’m just happy to chip in n’ solve a mystery or two. Oh! And speakin’ of which…
“You have something for me? Did you figure something out?”
Sure thing! Eggabell hid a spare journal in the ruins for safekeeping. I can’t open it without damaging what's inside. I reckon you'll have better luck than me. Anyhoo, sorry for jabberin’ yer ear off! I'd better get back to work, eh?

Intro to U.S. Agriculture Book Recommendations
Requested by @languagesandpain
Healing Grounds by Liz Carlisle
If you're interested in agroecology this is a great place to start. It highlights a handful of Black, Latino, and Asian American farmers and their lives, history, and research. It's a great all-around book too because it touches on animal agriculture, produce, and mushrooms (which I don't see get talked about much), and also different methods like agroforestry and pasture systems.
Grain by Grain by Bob Quinn and Liz Carlisle
This book is basically the story of Bob Quinn and his farm, there's a lot of good info in it. This is the first book that really struck home to me that I need to listen to people in conventional agriculture even if I personally don't like it, because there's important experiences that need to be heard. It touches on topics like converting farms to more sustainable methods, heirloom crops, and how we deal with food/diet related science in the US. I don't have any health issues of note, but after reading this book I found an organic bread with Kamut wheat in it to see how it was, and it totally takes away any white on my tongue when I'm eating it daily. Pretty fascinating.
Perilous Bounty by Tom Philpott
This book widely covers major problems in US conventional agriculture, mostly covering major agriculture corporations and environmental impacts but also some labor issues, and small/mid size farm struggles. I'm not going to lie, this one is depressing. I generally do well with tough topics but near the end I had to put it down a few times because it was making me feel a bit hopeless. Which I fault the author with a bit for not dealing with better, because we need more hope to be able to believe these problems are fixable. He also doesn't cover the eastern US which irks me a bit because the south is a major agricultural region. But overall, a lot of great info and some interesting ideas for solutions near the end.
With These Hands by Daniel Rothenberg
I haven't actually read this one yet, but I've read sections. It looks like another tough read, but covers the experiences of migrant farmworkers across the US. Definitely trigger warnings for modern day slavery, racism, abuse, and more.
Dirt: The Erosion of Civilizations
I found this one to be a bit pessimistic honestly, but I read it a while ago so I dont remember what exactly bothered me. But it's a good overview of agricultural collapse through history, soil science, and issues in soil today.
Lentil Underground by Liz Carlisle
(Can you tell I've read all of Carlisle's books yet). So this book didn't really make much of an impression on me. But I'm recommending it because if anything it kind of illustrates the tediousness of policy change, changing people's minds, running an unconventional farm. It's a bit boring compared to the other recommendations but if you're in the industry there's things to think about in it.
Non-book recommendations
For a while was listening to Real Organic Podcast. After about 10 episodes (not in order) you notice they start to really repeat a lot of ideas. But they have a lot of episodes that highlight problems with chemical use, water use, how movements like organic get co-opted by big corporations, and more.
I also recommend the news website Civil Eats. They post a lot of book recommendations, as well as cover a whole variety of agricultural issues across the world.
If anyone has any additional recommendations feel free to add on! I'm always looking for more books >:)

i think wambus most definitely overworks himself, believing that he alone is responsible for keeping the whole town fed by tending to the garden, so may i suggest: the reader helping wambus realize he’s allowed to rest, and take a day off to relax and take care of himself?
A/N: Heya everyone! Sorry I haven’t posted in anything in the past few days ^^’. I promise I’m doing my best to work on requests! I’m typing this as I’m heading to a photoshoot, so I’m being a bit brief. Still, I hope you enjoy the fic, and thanks for sticking around!!
Wambus x Reader (Take a Break)
Wambus plowed the dirt in front of him, his breath ragged from the work. He stood a second, despite his better judgment, to lean on his hoe, wiping sweat from his brow. The farmer had been at it for hours now. His crops had let up a pretty fortunate amount, but he couldn’t rest yet.
There was a more drastic need for a garden with Lizbert’s disappearance from the island. Their main food source had disappeared, and while he did think Filbo’s new friend was busy getting everyone back, he needed to to supply them with something to eat should the worst happen. He sighed, heaved his hoe, and made another plow in the ground.
“Lot of plowing you’re doing.”
He paused, looking up at you, leaning on the garden fence. He gave a slight smile.
“Maybe a bit. Not like we don’t need it.”
You hummed in response, and Wambus continued to work. This was routine between you two, just him working away while keeping a conversation with you.
“You know you can take a break, right?”
Wambus paused. “Pardon?”
“For the past few days, from way earlier than you normally wake, to nearly dawn, you’ve been plowing away at this garden, ripe with crops. I can’t help but wonder if you know you’re allowed to take a break.”
Wambus laughed. “Sorry, but, uh…this garden feeds the whole town-”
“You feed three people. Gramble, Shelda and that journalist running around.”
Wambus flinched. You sighed. “Sorry, I didn’t mean it like that.” You apologize, massaging your head. “I just…You need a break Wambus.”
He spat on the ground. “Dunno what’re on about. ‘M fine.”
“Your hands are literally shaking.”
The farmer blinked at your deadpan and checked his hands. Sure enough, they weren't…in the best shape, shaking badly. He shook his head though. “That’s nuthin.”
“Wambus, your breath is ragged, you look exhausted and you probably haven dranken anything-”
“I had some water this morin’!”
“- in the past few hours.”
Wambus grimaced. You had him there. He leaned his hoe against the fence and sighed, walking towards you.
“Listen, partner. I’m fine. I know you think I should be ‘takin’ breaks’ or whatever, but the fact of the matter is that ever since Liz has been gone, there hasn't been a reliable way to catch Bugsnax! I gotta keep the town fed.”
“For Grump’s sake, look around you!” You wave your hands at the expansive garden. “You don’t think that’s enough, just for a night?!”
“Another earthquake could happen.”
“Snorpy’s been keeping track of seismic activity, we’re fine.”
“I ain’t trustin’ the ramblings of a nutjob!” He bit back. You took a deep breath.
“Wambus Troubleham. You have. Five seconds. To surrender willingly, or pay the consequences.”
“I’m sorry?”
“Five, four, three-” Wambus rolled his eyes as you started to count, turning back to head to farmining again. “-two, one!”
He felt himself get tugged down, yelping as you dragged him by his collar.
“H-hey! What the heck are ya doin’?!” He cried out. Suprisingly, he felt too weak to properly struggle against you.
“Putting you to rest, you stubborn mule!” You retorted, entering his and Triffany’s hut and dragging him onto his bed. Wambus landed face first, and was suddenly overcome with incredible weariness. He groaned.
“Ugh…my back…my arms…”
“Feel that? That’s what happens when you neglect yoyurself for too long. You can’t help anybody in this state, now can you?” You scolded him.
“....No.”
“That’s right.” You huff. “Now, get some rest, wise guy. Your farm ain’t going nowhere.”
Wambus heard you walk off and out of the hut. And despite his mind screaming at him, for once, Wambus didn’t want to get up. You were right. He had been ignoring himself a tad too long, hadn’t he? Maybe…Maybe he’d just take a few minutes to himself. Just a few…..
He closed his eyes, unaware of his body already heading towards a nice long and well needed slumber.

Thoughts While Watching Gilmore Girls, Season 2, Episode 17, "Dead Uncles and Vegetables", Part 2
Read part 1 here and all other episodes here. Luke is giving Lorelai the run down on the Life and Death of Uncle Louie, which is terribly un important. Think it's funny that he doesn't tell Lorelai about the existence of his family members until there's a crisis like his uncle croaking. Lorelai didn't know he had a sister or nephew until Jess was practically on his doorstep. Frankly, the life story of Liz Danes is infinitely more fascinating than Dead Louie's. I have to make a small correction: in the previous post, I stated that Teach Me Tonight was the next episode, but there's actually another wonderful, glorious, absolutely pointless filler episode next. That one where Richard helps Rory with a project for the Chilton business fair and Madelyn invents the Amazon Alexa a full 12 years before Amazon does but Rory sidelines her invention because no one at Chilton knows how to build a robot.
Tumblr media
I can't think of a more gruesome place to spend the afterlife. If I happened to die in The Hollow, I would come back and haunt you. I'm gonna haunt you so hard, Lorelai Gilmore. You, Dean. Boom, haunted.
Tumblr media
A little healthy competition for Taylor Doose. Just a warmup before Walmart eventually moves in and flattens both markets.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Love Miss Patty. Back at the Inn, Michel notices the 9 rooms that Lorelai reserved for Luke but there is no credit card on file to pay for said rooms. What's that sound? Could it be the sound of Lorelai Gilmore’s gross financial irresponsibility? Could it be that Lorelai just gifted Luke 9 free hotel rooms with no way to make that money back for the Inn?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ha!
To bring everyone up to speed on the low stakes drama currently under way: Sookie is planning her wedding, and after a fateful soup tasting, Emily has wormed her way in to the wedding planning. Lorelai is predictably miffed. I fear that a day without a Miffed Lorelai would throw the Earth off it's axis.
Tumblr media
For at least the second time in so many weeks, Lorelai has just up and left work in the middle of the day to help Luke do something and no one tries to stop her, on top of that she is leaving her real job to go work another job filling in for Luke.
Lorelai Gilmore is an HR rep’s nightmare. Meanwhile at the diner: the war for small town economic dominance rages on between Taylor and the gentle farmer's market hippie, while Lorelai works behind the counter and Rory....
Tumblr media
WHHHAAAAA???! First Rory paid for her food, now she's working.... a job??!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gross. Kirk just ordered lunch, Lorelai is about to bring Luke a turkey burger, and another customer asked Lorelai if they were still serving breakfast, so are we to assume it’s like, around 11am? And Rory is not in school. My word! She pulled a Jess and skipped school to work! It's even funnier when you think about how Luke is basically nobody to Rory at this point but some dick her mom is quietly chasing and her mother pulls her out of school to wait tables at his restaurant. (before anyone says "maybe it's a weekend", Rory was in her Chilton uniform just moments ago). Taylor, observing Miss Patty across the street at the farmer's market: "Since when does Patty eat so much fruit?" This is the woman who told 15 year old Rory that plums were better than sex.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Taylor is quaking in his cardigan, he knows deep down that at any moment his power and stranglehold over Stars Hollow could be usurped in a blink. Hippie: My market is so busy I don't have time to take a break and eat a meal. Taylor: A well groomed businessman with a good staff can afford to take a break now and again. Kirk:
Tumblr media
The exquisitely timed, deadpan delivery of this line delighted me #TomatosSign #KirkMayBeATouchNeurodivergent
In other Low Stakes Drama, Lorelai has gone upstairs to bring Luke his lunch. He informs Lorelai that none of his relatives are coming to Dead Louie’s funeral, and they both pretend to be sad about it. Jess is nowhere to be found, so I guess unlike Rory, he’s at school, not jerking off for once.
Luke laments the lame excuses that his no good relatives gave for skipping Dead Louie’s funeral, like “I can’t miss work.”
If only they had the generous “Leave work in the middle of a shift to go help the diner guy” PTO package that the Independence Inn provides to Lorelai.
Luke begins the ol’ “name and shame the family members who have stood me up” and to no one’s fucking surprise Liz is among the funeral skippers who isn’t answering his calls (and at the same time isn’t seizing this opportunity to visit her own son and brother).
Oh Liz Danes you are SO getting haunted.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now this just throws more Confusion Dressing onto the Dead Uncles and Vegetables Salad. On top of the "Rory gets pulled out school to chase her mom's Dick Goals", Jess also isn’t at school, and Luke says he’s…playing basketball. Ha ha ha. From the fantastical imagination of one Miss AmyShermanPalladino, who bought us “Dean likes/knows how to read”, comes its thrilling sequel, “Jess plays sports!"
Okay. Okay. Nothing is as creative or fantastically fictional as “Dean being literate”. And that being said, I could see Jess shooting hoops, I guess? Like maybe he spent time at the parks and playgrounds of New York City to blow off a little steam. Maybe it’s not a terribly ridiculous notion.
Anyhow, much like “I was playing football with my friends” ala the big fat lie in Swan Song, Rory just accepts this statement without question and then calls him a "little punk". Why? The hell did he do? First ya'll are mad he's causing "mischief" and now he's found a wholesome activity to keep him occupied and off the mean streets of Stars Hollow and you're still mad.
Tumblr media
That brown shirt looked fucking stellar on him and he had to go and ruin it with a poofy lifejacket. 2000's fashion, man. I love how there is clearly nothing for Jess to do plotwise so they made up this z-plot where Rory keeps getting mad at him for taking time off from work, as if it matters to her, and as if he doesn’t have the most solid work ethic in Stars Hollow and shouldn’t be allowed take a break and play his little basketball game if he wants.
The low stakes drama continues: Jackson shows up at the diner and is not pleased about the intrusion on his wedding…by his fiancée’s coworker’s mother, of all people. I’m sure he had a lot of questions for Sookie about that.
Tumblr media
Poor Jess. I'm sure he tried so hard to hold onto that fleeting moment of bliss today, a brief time when he was free, playing basketball, by himself most likely, skipping school, no one bothering him, then Rory shows up and drags him back to work/home for some reason and then Luke forces him to go to a town meeting, He never even got any time to jerk off. I don't understand why Luke goes to these things. Clearly any time there is a meeting he is there not of his own free will, so what are the terrifying consequences for staying home?
Tumblr media
Here sits a defeated man. Taylor: You're late Lorelai, I banged this meeting in a half hour ago. Lorelai: Ooh, dirty. Miss Patty's reaction:
Tumblr media
Dirty old bat. I love her.
Tumblr media
Das a good question.
Tumblr media
Tell me again why he should care about The Town? Why should anyone care about The Town? Fuck Stars Hollow.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The many faces of Milo. What a cutiemuffin gumdrop. Ah the famous scene where many claim to see Milo mouthing "I love you" at Alexis across the seats, to me it just looks like he's chewing his lip. The way he is looking at her is incredibly precious and adoring nonetheless. Lord, I think I just popped an ovary. Ow. Camp I Love You, Camp Lip Chewer, I respect you both, now let's just meet in the middle where we can all agree Dean Forrester sucks. To be continued.

Radiator Springs/Rusteze-Dinoco Racing Center/Fireball Beach/Thunder Hollow/Thomasville/Florida International Speedway (Cars)
Takes place after Cars 3.
It isn’t combat based. Missions include keeping up with McQueen’s top speed by racing down Radiator Springs’ main street, learning how to turn right to go left at Willy’s Butte, keeping up with Cruz’s top speed on Fireball Beach, avoiding pushy competitors with the Thunder Hollow challengers, and practicing with Cruz at Thomasville, culminating in the Piston Cup race at Florida International Speedway, where the objective is to win against Jackson Storm.
Sora enters the world as a custom-made sports coupe mixing a few real-life sports car models before visits to Luigi’s Casa Della Tires and Ramone’s House of Body Art end with him modified into a next-gen race car sponsored by Dinoco (with Tex’s blessing) and with Cruz’s number.
It’s set during Cruz’s first Piston Cup racing season, so McQueen still has Doc’s colors and spends the Florida race as Sora’s crew chief.
As Sora finishes his story, Mater is certainly unhappy with Xehanort’s actions forcing Sora’s hand. “That dad-gum Xehanort”, he says angrily. Extra points if Sora doesn’t get to the part where Xehanort is dead, then Sarge gets in his face and demands him to teach Xehanort a lesson when he gets back in a militaristic manner. “Is that understood,” Sarge yells. Then Sora tries to correct him, but gets cut off and asked again, “Is that understood,” and has to respond, “Sir, yes, sir!”
Of course, during the top speed races, Luigi is the one to signal the race to begin.
In the Radiator Springs race, Sora’s top speed is tracked by Sheriff’s speed radar, and on Fireball Beach, it’s via Cruz’s personal assistant, Hamilton.
If you fail the “Turn Right to go Left” mission, Sora goes flying into the bed of cacti, and Mater fishes him out.
I know I’ll get hate for this, but Cars 2 elements are here. Heck, maybe Mater can’t be present most for the training because he’s busy with Finn and Holley. After all, does he still owe Holley a first date?
I wanted the player character in this world to be Kairi just so Storm can feel the embarrassment of losing to not one, but two “costume girls”.
The Piston Cup race is announced as a 500-lap race, but no game developer is that malicious to force the player to race 500 laps around an oval, so they’d take after the first Cars game and make it twelve laps with the sun slowly lowering throughout the race.

How and when do you think Zach fell for Cammie?
Another sneak peek, so sorry for teasing you all, but I'm needing to let some of it out, and just wanna assure repeat asks that they're coming 🩵
Sneak Peek of "I'm Gonna Fall In Love With You"
(this story is looonnngg fyi, and so is the sneak peek)
"Your mission, should you choose to accept is-"
Groans fill the room and Rebecca Baxter rolls her eyes at everyone. Bottle pressed up to her smile as she takes a sip of beer and nudges Zach's shoulder in a silent 'Can you believe them? They're absolutely no fun'. Zach snorts into his own beer in a silent reply of 'No, you're just overly dramatic and Cam has had too many glasses of wine for this.'
"Alright, alright," Bex waves her hands and turns to look at him fully, smirking, "Truth or Dare? Clock's ticking Goode."
Maybe it's the way he hasn't felt this light in a long time -maybe ever. Maybe it's the way his heart aches in his chest when Cam blows hair off her cheek and giggles as Liz pours more wine. Or maybe he's drunk.
"Truth."
The entire circle falls silent. Cups and bottles half suspended to lips, laughter trailing off, eyes widening, and every single one of them can hear heartbeats and water dripping from the faucet and the sound of someone unlocking their car out on the street.
Cammie wipes at her lips, "What?"
Bex sits back, and Liz props up on her knees and Macey chugs the last of her wine. Even Jonas and Preston are silent and Zach rolls his eyes and turns to Bex, "Gonna ask me a question or not?"
"But you, you never pick-" She looks around panicked, "What do I ask? I didn't think I'd ever get the chance."
Cammie smirks, "Ask him where he hid the M&M's."
Bex waves off the suggestion, snapping her fingers and Macey points, "Private jet and the Russians!"
Bex counters, "Finland - Embassy with the Duchess?"
Cammie laughs, "Idaho, Potato farmer?"
Jonas shakes his head, "Nah, don't waste it on that, I have pictures."
Zach starts making a ticking clock noise, humming the jeopardy theme song when Liz lunges forward and squeals, "When did he fall in love with Cammie?!"
Zach's eyes go wide at that, the alcohol making his neutral face slip and they all turn on him with satisfied smiles.
Shaking his head, he starts to stand, "No, come on, that's a really complicated question that doesn't -" he turns to Cammie and pleads, "Come on, don't make me talk about this in front of everyone?"
She hums into her wine glass, "I think high school Cammie needs some closure babe, you really messed with her head."
"We're married!" He holds up his left hand to prove the point, then gestures to the doorwasy, "Our children are asleep down the hall!"
Liz stands now, the girls closing in on him until his back is pressed against the wall and Liz nudges his chest, "Spill. Or I get the truth serum."
"You know, I forget that you're the scariest one of the bunch sometimes Lizzie," he gulps and whispers as Jonas cackles from the ground.
The girls simply raise their eyebrows and he raises his hands in defeat, "Alright, alright, let me get another beer."
Giddy with their victory the girls settle in against the cushions of the couch and pillows on the floor. He pulls a green bottle from the fridge, the opener a magnet he slips off of it as the door falls closed.
A picture of them in front of Gallagher the day of Rachel and Joe's wedding faces him as the bottle cap pops off, the hiss of his drink and the clink of the cap hitting the counter.

"if people don't farm animals then there won't be any fertiliser that is needed" - Liz Webster. How would you respond to this?
Alternatives to manure do exist. The only reason animal waste is used so univocally in agriculture is because we have so much of it and nowhere to put it - entire degree programs exist on training people how to solve this massive problem. Workers drowning in vast lakes of slurry is far more common than you’d think. as is them flooding and polluting local rivers. In fact waste run off is a huge issue, and is very likely to be responsible for the algae blooms wiping out marine animals.
If agriculture were less intensive and was done in a way that doesn't cause so much harm to soil (perennial plants, rotation of plants in the winter to hold soil quality, diversity of plants, encouraging the presence of insects and birds etc.) then we wouldn't need so much fertilsier. We could grow far more and far less land without animal agriculture, so the need to massively increase output every ten years to cope with rising demand would not be quite so pressing.
Besides, veganic farming (farming without animal inputs) is very much a thing, you can check out the Veganic Agriculture Network for more information on that. Plenty of farmers already do this. Using plants as fertiliser is just as effective as animal manure, and in this way we can make grow food which is completely free from animal inputs - which incidentally is mostly how forests are fertilised, featuring some of the most abundant plant-life on earth.
I'd also recommend checking out George Monbiot's book Regenesis, which is in large part devoted to discussing alternatives to industrial systems and the use of animal waste, without compromising on crop output or efficiency.

I saw someone in the comments of my Tales of the TARDIS uploads bitching about how every companion ends up in a position of authority so here's me going through every televised companion, what occupation they ended up with after leaving the Doctor, and then analyzing whether there is an uncalled for number of authority positions in the list. As this is televised companions only I will be prioritizing the canon of televised stories. Here we go:
Ian Chesterton: Professor at the University of Cambridge (Death of the Doctor)
Barbara Wright: Professor at the University of Cambridge (Death of the Doctor)
Susan Foreman: Member of the Earth Council world government (Audio: An Earthly Child), though this is contradicted by some other stories
Vicki Pallister: Farmer (Tales of the TARDIS)
Steven Taylor: King (Tales of the TARDIS)
Katarina: N/A
Sara Kingdom: N/A
Polly Wright: Co-running an orphanage (Death of the Doctor)
Ben Jackson: Co-running an orphanage (Death of the Doctor)
Jamie McCrimmon: There are way too many sources for him and none of them definitive; the Tales of the TARDIS episode he appears in does not confirm what he got up to, but does decanonize certain other sources such as The World Shapers
Victoria Waterfield: Head of New World University (Some home video called Downtime?)
Zoe Heriot: President, presumably of Earth (Tales of the TARDIS)
Liz Shaw: Multiple contradicting sources: includes but not limited to doing scientific research, teaching as a professor, or running P.R.o.B.e. (don't ask me what that is, I'm not deep enough down the rabbit hole yet)
Jo Grant: Climate activist (Death of the Doctor, multiple other sources)
Sarah Jane Smith: Reporter, defender of Earth (School Reunion, all of The Sarah Jane Adventures)
Harry Sullivan: This man's EU canon is a mess but we know at the very least that he stayed with UNIT for a while as a scientist (The Zygon Invasion)
Leela: Bodyguard (Gallifrey audios)
Romana: President of Gallifrey (Gallifrey audios)
Adric: N/A
Nyssa: Scientist/medical researcher on Termius (Terminus, multiple other audios), but she eventually returned to Earth, occupation unknown (Tales of the TARDIS)
Tegan: Airline attendant (multiple EU sources), later activist (Power of the Doctor)
Turlough: Astrophysicist (Turlough and the Earthlink Dilemma)
Kamelion: N/A
Peri: Canonically multiple endings including brain death, talk show host, botanist, Queen of Krontep, married to Yrcanos in multiple different arrangements ranging from happily to unhappily (Mindwarp, Peri and the Piscon Paradox, Tales of the TARDIS, lots of other audios and books too, sheesh)
Mel: Unknown (multiple EU endings have been decanonized by Power of the Doctor)
Ace: CEO of A Charitable Earth (Death of the Doctor, At Childhood's End, Power of the Doctor)
Grace: Copyright hell
Chang Lee: Copyright hell
Rose Tyler: Marital bliss (Journey's End)
Mickey Smith: UNIT Agent (End of Time)
Martha Jones: UNIT Agent (End of Time)
Donna Noble: I'm posting this a week before the first of the 60th Anniversary Specials, so... TBD?
Amy Pond: Novelist (Angels Take Manhattan, The Bells of Saint John)
Rory Pond Williams: Not 100% determined but presumably nurse (Angels Take Manhattan, misc. EU sources)
Clara Oswald: Traveling the universe with her immortal girlfriend, also technically N/A (Hell Bent, Twice Upon A Time)
Bill Potts: See prior entry, crazy how that happened twice, huh (Twice Upon A Time)
Nardole: Implied to have ended up a farmer (The Doctor Falls, Twice Upon A Time)
Yasmin Khan: Presumably still a cop, unfortunately (Power of the Doctor)
Ryan Sinclair: Unknown, too recent, implied to have been studying to be a mechanic (Revolution of the Daleks)
Graham O'Brien: Presumably still a bus driver, also head of the companions group that never got an official name but we all agreed to call it Companions Anonymous (Power of the Doctor)
Dan Lewis: Presumably still unemployed and volunteering (Power of the Doctor)
Okay. Phew. That's all of them.
So, that's 41, not including K9 (there's too many K9s running around, sorry, also he's a robot dog.) Let's cut Katarina and Sara Kingdom, who I only really included to flex. That's 39. Okay, now let's cut Adric and Kamelion, who died before they could have a post-TARDIS career, as well as Grace and Chang Lee because c'mon, you need to actually travel in the TARDIS before you can have a post-TARDIS career. Now we're down to 35 companions.
Companions in a position of high authority, not just an expert in their field or whatever but with governmental authority are: Susan (choosing the specific EU canon where she's on the Earth Council), Steven, Zoe, Romana, Peri, and... oh wait, that's it! Just those five! And three of them are from sources that aren't the main show episodes! Considering that fiction usually follows interesting people rather than the average person, and both the Doctor and the TARDIS are picky about who they let on board, I'd say that 5/35 is a perfectly reasonable figure. Some people just want to complain.

Meet Jasmine Fenton: Smart, resourceful, kind and the very proud sister of Amity Park's own undead superhero Danny Phantom. Therapist at your service. Intern at Arkham Asylum. Can kick your ass. Likes tea and long walks at the beach. Meet Jason Todd: Smart, resourceful, not-that-kind (if you say he's soft you may get knifed) and the very proud vigilante and protector of Crime Alley. Died for a while but got better. Holds grudges. Likes reading a nice book and the sound of the rain against the window. They are neighbors now.

Mondays, am I right? (dpxdc) - 7,695 Kudos
There was a long silence. He heard his sister breathe in, breathe out, like she was mentally preparing herself to say something. “I… I heard, from other interns I talked to, that guard positions are always open. And that it’s super easy to get in.”
Third most comments
Can't help falling in love (with you) (dpxdc) - 345 Comment threads
When a ghost does shenanigans, Jazz usually stays out of the trouble, since trouble is her brother's thing. This time? This time trouble found her in the form of a ghost that marries her to the Red Hood against her will.

Dance with me? (dpxdc) - 36,710 Words
Two strangers meet at a Wayne charity gala to raise funds for the Arkham Asylum Reform project. What they don't know is that they have much more in common than they think. “That’s it? One dance? It doesn’t seem that difficult.” He glared at her. “Why, you don’t dance?” “Not if I can help it.” He grumbled with distaste. “Why not? Not handsome enough to tempt you, Mr. Darcy?”
Although the first one is a translation??? If we dont count it, the actually fifth one is:
Of bats, dreams and human connections (Stardew Valley) - 35,904 Words
Maybe, in retrospective, moving to the middle of nowhere and become a farmer wasn't Liz's smartest idea. The worst part wasn't getting up early or doing housework or meeting new people, no - the worst part was having to bathe in sun cream every morning and pray no one noticed she didn't age or got tired or hurt no matter what. Did I mention that Liz was a vampire? Well, she was. And even if for some she was the stupidest vampire alive, in her defense she just wanted to make new friends. Fortunately for her, the local goth boy of the town may be available.

Submit (Lucifer TV) - 395 Words.
In a world full of Omegas, being a Beta might be nice.
Did this for a fandom bingo lmao. I truly am not a Omegaverse writer lol
