From December 6, 1926 through the decades: Tina Goldstein & Newt Scamander

My first real edit, and I loved doing it. I think in pictures and patterns, so this was really very satisfying. I want to continue learning how to edit better. :)
Also I maybe made myself cry a little bit making it because implied war trauma but then also BABIES.
The qilin is an extremely rare part dragon-part horse creature with the ability to look into a person’s soul. During the walk of the qilin, the creature determines the new leader of the magical community.

The change was by no means new to him, he was true to this barbaric lifestyle, but that meant little as his spine crackled with the shift. It was a cruel fact of life, pain.

A ruin is what became of the beast's home, but beauty can still be found in the wilds.

This is the beginning of an edit about Newt Scamander's childhood, thru school and then young adulthood in WWI. It exists in a different universe than my fics do, but there’s a great story and character arc for Newt hidden in this song, and I really wanted to try to put it together and pull it out.
Also--at this point--I should really be paying Newt for therapy, because I’ve processed so much lifelong shame and confusion from watching his character. Even more so than watching other things with autistic characters. I think its because the point of Newt isn’t just that he’s on the spectrum, like it is for *so* many characters in popular media. Newt just is, with all his strengths and faults and foibles, which is very relatable to me, as someone who grew up--well into adulthood--unidentified and undiagnosed. (He’s also not characterized as being an asshole, despite being very intelligent, something that’s very much missing in most autistic representations in media.)
Twelve-year-old me would have loved Newt so much.
Autistic representation really does matter.
Anyway, I’ll post the full thing to YouTube when I’m done, probably early next week.
