My favorite (and least favorite) thought is the idea that the first thing that the Avengers notice new about Steve when he finally, finally gets Bucky back is that they can sneak up on him.
With a building full of superheroes with various levels of stealth training and differing tolerances for practical jokes, it happens pretty regularly that accidentally or purposefully, someone gets snuck up on. Everyone else hears a gasp or shriek, swearing, then laughter or apologies, and they know exactly what happened.
Before, though, Steve wouldn't flinch. He might blink a few times, but really, he never seems surprised. No matter how out of the blue the scare is. It's like he expects it. They start joking about Cap's spidey sense or super-steel nerves.
But... now, sneak up on him, and he'll JUMP.
No one says it out loud, but when Natasha accidentally gets Steve good enough during a "family dinner" with her silent footsteps and sudden presence over his shoulder that he drops his plate (with food on it, goddamnit), they all share a look. Mostly, it's fucking funny, such a huge, muscle-bound guy shrieking and jumping a few inches into the air, but... throughout the dinner, then later into the following days when Thor is able to do it, too, raising his voice suddenly booming from behind Steve when he was supposed to be off-world, announcing himself, it dawns on them that it isn't so funny.
It's almost like before, Steve was constantly in fight or flight mode. Always aware and checking his surroundings, hackles raised, as if he never left active combat. Everything was an active threat.
But, now, with Bucky back... Steve eases off. Those hackles go down. And he jumps! He ruins a wall once, throwing a kettle bell in the gym through it when his grip strength loosens mid-jump. It should be funny, it still is, sometimes, scaring mighty Captain America... but it's mostly not. It's not because they can't believe that he was never relaxed and not on edge before. Without Bucky. But Bucky here and Steve's home, too, now. Bucky is home.

Are you named after anyone? from what I'm told, my mother was going through a french phase and loved the name jacqueline so, here I be! though extra lore nobody asked for: because it's got so many letters, I typically go by jacqui unless it's a ~fancy official thing or I'm in trouble, hah
When was the last time you cried? it would probably be easier to ask me when I'm not crying (anxiety club cardholder)
Do you have kids? nada! I am not parental material, but I do enjoy being the fun cool aunt to three nephews
What sports do you play/have you played? uh, bench warmer if we're being literal about it I don't think I was ever picked for a team willingly a day in my life I am both short and require glasses to see anything long distance - but! I was more interested in drama and books anyway so y'know battles, pick 'em.
Do you use sarcasm? frequently and with flourish!
What’s the first thing you notice about people? I'm actually a big one for vibes, I tend to gravitate toward the folks who put out the chill, easy going vibes. I'm very cerebral by nature, I live in my head so anybody who wants or digs conversations is also a big drawcard for me, I dunno! I like nice people who are funny and a bit different and aren't terribly concerned about what the masses are doing (idk hashtag just aquarius things I suppose) but also - hands! love expressive talkers, love hands. People with big smiles and the ability to poke a bit of good natured fun at themselves and the craziness of the world.

So I had the chance for some ~~alone time~~ this evening and decided to go through some of my AO3 bookmarks and just - ahem - reflect.
I came across one of my favourite ever Chris/Reader fics and let me tell you, dear friends: this is just as good every single time I read it. The best, most considerate part of it, is that there are two versions of it, one with female reader anatomical terms and one with male reader anatomical terms.
So after thoroughly enjoying myself, I scrolled down to leave a comment, something to the effect or "fourth kudos" or "🥵🥵🥵🥵🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠" and then, I saw it.
This fic, this absolute beacon of masturbation inspiration, has only ten comments, and HALF OF THEM ARE REPLIES FROM THE AUTHOR.

I'm thinking about Steve and Bucky being the mysterious neighbors to a little family crammed into a tiny Brooklyn apartment in the new century.
Like, they're always on missions, but otherwise, they keep to themselves--they've only just settled into a comfortable routine after getting each other back. So, this family has no idea that their neighbours are the Captain America and Winter Soldier. But, once, during a hilariously familiar summer blackout, the building is strangely silent. Time always seems to stop during a blackout. Steve and Bucky come out of their apartment, wanting to make sure everyone is alright. So, they bump into this little family for the first time, and the two kids from the neighboring family lose their minds.
Then, rather than going to the apartment building's roof to watch the stars until the lights come back on like usual, the kids spend it playing pretend with superheroes. Steve lets them take turns weilding the shield, playing hero. It makes Bucky heart ache to see them take turns giggling, wrapping themselves in tinfoil to be just like him... one of the good guys.

Hi! I've been scrollling through your blog recently, and I really loved your metas and analysis. Could you recommend some blogs I could follow for bucky, steve, and stucky content/meta in general?

I still think of myself as fairly new to the fandom (started shipping late 2021) so I’m still out here raving about things that fandom olds have already raved about back in 2015 😂 There’s a lot of good meta from that era but a lot of the accounts have gone quiet.
But there are still lots of active Stucky accounts! @musette22 @rillils @fsbc-librarian @stoveandhisbucket @cable-knit-sweater @between-a-ship-and-a-hard-place @dontcallmebree are some but there are heaps heaps more!
In terms of meta, @amarriageoftrueminds @lucidasidera @cosmicmechanism usually have some delicious salt on MCU’s narrative issues with a Stucky slant. @gay-jewish-bucky @turtle-steverogers @fandomfluffandfuck often have cute little drabbles and head canons for the boys.
That’s only the tip of the iceberg, I’m on phone so it’s a bit hard pulling up people’s user names 😅 There are heaps of writers, giffers and artists still on here too. Have a look at the notes in this post.
