Here to say this as a crazy crystal lover: Opalite is not the same as opal. Its man made. Its essentially just glass. But I still use it in my practice! Because it’s pretty! It’s ok to like something that isn’t 100% natural or earth grown. I have an opalite pendulum. Why? Because it’s cheap, it’s effective, and it works nicely! It also reminds me of my spirit guides! So have fun with “fake” or “dyed” crystals! It’s not really a bad thing to own them, unless you are actively getting scammed by your seller into thinking they’re natural crystals!

Fake crystals are just as real as real crystals!
Did you gasp at that title? Were you completely and utterly flabbergasted that I would say such a thing? I understand why this would be a shocking viewpoint considering the importance placed on crystals in many a metaphysical/witchy circle. But here is a simple reasoning behind what I said, you buy crystals for their energy, right? Now, just what if you come across a piece of glass, or dare I say, plastic (I know, woo woo people you are losing it right about now.) that looks and feels like the crystal you were shopping for. Only you didn't know it wasn't the crystal you were seeking and you later found out it was a fake. You've already done a few successful spells, meditations, and/or rituals with the "crystal". Despite it not being genuine, does this mean that those things you've done with the crystal are now invalid or does it mean that the energy of the item you used was more important than what the item itself actually was?
Look, it is wonderful to be able to purchase real crystals, but is it necessary? NO. What matters is the energy of the item, in particular, how that energy comes off to you. If you've accidentally purchased a fake crystal, yet you find it works perfectly well for you, don't feel the need to abandon it just because it isn't genuine. If you're truly after the energy of a certain crystal and not just having a genuine crystal then it doesn't matter if that energy comes from a piece of glass. This in some ways is another reminder to work with what feels good and what is accessible to you, even if that's fake crystals that feel like the real deal.

Howlite, Magnesite, and White Buffalo Turquoise: Are you being scammed?
Sometimes I feel like howlite and magnesite have a bit of a bad rap. They’re kind of like the flour of the gemstone world — pretty basic, of no offense to anyone, and able to be turned into all kinds of things that most people think are much more interesting. White howlite and magnesite get dyed and turned into imitation “turquoise,” “sodalite,” “lapis,” and just about any other opaque stone you…

POULTRIPLE (Rock/Fighting) The Turducken pokemon
Despite looking like 3 different pokemon they are a single one, and they are rarely seen all 3 out at the same time. Each one has a very different personality, with the turkey being very calm and slow, the duck being lively and jovial and the chicken being very aggresive
They are based on the "Turducken", a dish consisting in a Chicken stuffed in a Duck stuffed in a Turkey, and usually made for Thanksgiving, in Matryoshka dolls, also known as "nesting dolls" or "russian dolls" and in Geodes, with each bird representing a different layer
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
They have the ability "Birds-of-a-feather". With this ability a new bird will come out when the previous one is in a pinch.
The Turkey is a tank with a very high defense and HP, takes mostly anything, but if you gets its HP to 3/4 the Duck will come out
The Duck is a more balanced bird, with a higher speed but its defense and attack are even, but if you drop its HP to 1/2 or lower the chicken will come out.
The Chicken is evil, fear the chicken! The chicken is nothing but attack and speed and it will use them to ruin your day! It fears no man, it fears no god! It only knows violence and rage and will kick your ass!
A fun thing to do would be to use Belly Drum with the Turkey, dropping its HP to 1/2, thus bypassing the Duck, and pulling out a max attack Chicken, which then will proceed to unleash its fury and wreck havoc indiscriminately

What makes a rock a rock and not a crystal?
Ok SO
A mineral is a naturally occurring non-organic solid with a defined chemical composition and an orderly molecular structure. This means the molecules throughout the entire structure will be exactly the same, and be arranged in a symmetrical, geometric, repeating pattern called a crystal lattice.
Quartz is a mineral. Its chemical formula is silicon dioxide, and its crystal lattice forms a repeating tetrahedron.
Ice is also a mineral. Its chemical formula is dihydrogen monoxide, and its crystal lattice forms a repeating hexagon.
Obsidian is not a mineral. It is a mineraloid, a mineral-like substance. Its chemical composition can vary wildly, and instead of a crystal lattice, its molecules are jumbled up in an amorphous solid, meaning there’s no nice repeating pattern to them.
A crystal is any solid material with a crystal lattice.
All minerals, by definition, have a crystal lattice. So all minerals are crystals! Some things that are NOT minerals are also crystals!
Sugar is a crystal. It has a crystal lattice made from molecules of sucrose. But it is not a mineral because it is organic.
Often, these repeating geometric patterns in the crystal lattice cause the substance to naturally form big geometric structures with distinct faces - such as the points formed by quartz. These larger structures are colloquially also called crystals, and their shape (called a crystal habit) is determined by the shape of the crystal lattice. The same crystal lattice can produce multiple different crystal habits, and it’s all very cool and complicated but I won’t go off on a tangent about it right now.
A substance does not have to form big structures like this to be scientifically considered a crystal. It just needs a crystal lattice!
A rock is a naturally occurring solid aggregate of minerals and/or mineraloids. It can be made of a single mineral, or a bunch of different minerals. But when made from a single mineral, it will not be one solid block of that mineral with an unbroken crystal lattice. Because it is an aggregate, it will be a bunch of micro- to macroscopic grains of that mineral all compacted together, each with their own individual crystal lattices.
Granite is a rock. It is made of grains of minerals such as quartz and feldspar.
Limestone is a rock. It is mostly made of grains of calcite.
So rocks can be made of crystals, but rocks are not crystals - in the same way that a house can be made of bricks, but a house is not a brick!
And this is just a very quick overview of these terms, because the scientific definitions can get increasingly pedantic and there are tons of weird exceptions! It is all very fascinating.
But of course, the word rock also has a colloquial definition, which is just… a chunk of that hard stuff the planet is made of! A mineral, a crystal, a fossil or a bio-organic solid… whatever! This is a rock collection and these are my rocks!
