the lights and music were glaring as you were standing against the wall in the back at some random college party when your enemy walked over. yes that’s right chris. you and chris hated each other and always seemed to get underneath each other’s skin. you can’t deny that there was tension between you two but you still despised him with no doubt. you two have known each other since the second grade. things were fine up until the 8th grade in middle school. you two were inseparable until everything just switched. now it’s like every little thing he did irritates the living hell out of you and vice versa.
“well look who it is..” chris sneers as a smirk lands on his face. he was holding a red plastic cup full of beer.
“what the fuck do you want?” you question, annoyed at the fact that he crawled his way into your presence.
“nothing much” chris says taking a drink of his beer. you roll your eyes in disgust. “then why the fuck did you come over here?” you ask growing impatient.
“to get you riled up” he says smirking “and it seems like it’s working” he chuckles.
“just go away you dick, i was fine before your annoying ass walked over here.” you say moving my eyes in the other direction.
“whatever, you just can’t deny that you want me real bad.” chris speaks before pushing past me. you roll your eyes and walk over to the bar that was situated in a corner.
you was about to pay for my non alcoholic drink when this dude showed up out of nowhere. you slyly looked him up and down out of the corner of your eye. honestly he wasn’t that bad looking.
“what’s up pretty” the mysterious dude says, turning your way to look at you with a smile. you look over at him with a slight blush on your face.
“hey..” you say getting shy. why the fuck was i getting shy? i barely know this guy and i’m blushing you thought to yourself
“here’s your non alcoholic drink!” the bartender says looking at you. “thank you.” you say about to pull out your wallet but the mysterious guy beats you too it. “here, keep the change” he says before taking a sip of his drink.
you give the guy a slight smile before slowly walking off. you walk to a table and take a seat. the guy follows you and sits across from you.
“what’s a pretty girl like you chillin by yourself? shouldn’t you be dancing or some shit?” the guy asks you. you take a drink before answering.
“i’m not feeling it and there’s no one to dance with fr.” you say shrugging your shoulders. you drink the rest of your drink before placing your cup down.
“hm i feel you.. here let me get you another drink then we can dance?” the guy questions. you nod your head agreeing with a smile .
a few minutes later the guy comes back. you take the drink and take a sip. something in the back of your mind told you it tasted weird but you weren’t thinking to the point it didn’t matter. you finish the drink in one sitting as you notice the guy staring at you.
“ready?” the guy says smirking. i stand up and take his hand in mine. “i’m so ready” you purr drunk at this point.
you both head into the crowd of teenagers who were dancing and joined them. your back was against his chest grinding him as his hands roamed your body.
“oh god you’re so hot.” the guy whispers in your ear. your brain was all fuzzy to the point you couldn’t even comprehend what was going on. you continue to grind your ass up against his crotch as the music kept playing. the guy decided to bring his hand up to your tits and start massaging them. after massaging your tits he makes his way down to your low rise skirt. you feel what he’s doing and start to feel uncomfortable. the guys fingers rise inside your skirt as you start to squirm trying to get away.
“ no s-stop” you whisper try telling the guy. you didn’t realize the whole time that someone in particular was watching you from the side. he was watching the whole damn thing and was getting pissed off.
the guy who you were dancing with wouldn’t listen to your no so you try again. “ugh stop it please!” you plead trying to grasp out of his hand but he holds onto you tighter. “no you’re mine for tonight baby..” he whispers in your ear, as he then begins to nibble on them. his fingers continue to ride up your thigh until he touches your thong. you feel like you were on the verge of crying as there was tears in your eyes. the music was blasting loud, the lights were off and there was a ton of people. this guy would just not listen to your pleads.
before his fingers could glide up your pussy you feel someone jump the guy who was touching you. the guy knocks down to the ground as you gasp and slightly jump away.
“you fucking bastard!” the voice sounded familiar. you turn around to see chris punching the guy in his face. the music stopped as people stopped dancing to watch the incident.
“oh my gosh! chris stop!” you yell frantically going over to try and get chris off the dude. you cared that chris came to help and you couldn’t be more grateful but fighting was not the case. chris finally pulled away and shoved him one more time to the ground. his bottom lip had a cut because the guy punched back but other than that he was fine. better than the other guy.
“don’t fucking touch her! i swear to god if you even try laying a hand on her again , you’ll regret ever living!” chris yells angrily.
you place your hand on chris’s back and his arm and pull him away before he pounces on the guy again. it takes a minute for chris to move along with you but he finally moves.
you take him to the back as the party carries on and you both sit down at a table. chris sits across from you, as you carry on to look at him. the tension was high. chris still seemed off
“damm chris, who knew you had it in you..” you say trying to lighten the mood. but the fact that you almost got raped was still lingering over your mind. you were still feeling a little light headed from the drinking.
“well someone had to do something.. that bastard was practically going to rape you.” chris spits out. you look away from his eyes as they clouded with darkness and not his usually bright blue orbs. you sigh as you sadly agree.
“i swear i tried telling him to stop and to get away from me.. but he wouldn’t budge and i-i’m pretty sure he spiked my drink? i don’t know..” you saying looking around as tears clouded your eyes.
“hey, it’s alright.. that dude was a bastard & doesn’t understand what consent n no means.” chris exclaims bitterly
you look down at the table, fighting to get rid of your tears that were threatening to fall. chris brings his hand over the table to caress yours. this was something??? you thought. you lift up your head to see chris staring at you.
“hey do we want to get outta here?” chris questions quietly. you don’t need to be asked twice as you nod your head.
chris grabs your hand as he guides both of you out the door to his car.

you and chris made it to your house. both of your parents were still gone so you invite chris inside. you both walk into the living room and take a seat on the couch getting comfortable.
you decided to ask a question that you didn’t expect an answer to. you didn’t know if this would change things for the worse or the better but you decided to ask anyways.
“chris.. can i ask you something.” you ask looking him in the eyes. his arms were spread out against the top part of the couch and his legs were spread out. he looks in your direction.
“um yeah shoot..” chris responds. you nibble on the bottom of your lip. “i just want to know.. what happened to us?” you take a few seconds before talking again. “we were practically inseparable but then high school came along and we just…. i don’t know..” you finish, sighing.
chris doesn’t answer for a few minutes. you begin to think if the question messed things up.
“i don’t know.. life happen i guess.” chris says. you didn’t realize but chris was lying thru his teeth.
you look away disappointed. you don’t know what you expected from him.
“oh um yeah i guess..” you say, sighing. “you know i just have a feeling it’s more than that though..” you say not letting go. out of the corner of your eye it looks like chris gulped nervously. you wonder why.

so i was thinking of peacekeeper sej and covey reader, but the way they meet is completely different. he would catch the reader sneaking off over the fence with a bag of supplies.
i’m thinking that someone at the covey had gotten ill and the reader was met with the task of gathering herbs needed outside of the fence.
i feel like sej would first be what any other peacekeeper would be and follow and be like “wtf are u doin” but then like he’d understand and let her keep running off into the woods and meadow. IDK I THINK THIS IS CUTE

Sejanus never truly wanted to be a peacekeeper, yes he wanted to help people but obviously not in this kind of way.
Peacekeepers were often cruel and stern, they stood their ground for what they stood for and their morals were aligned in a way that didn't quite align with Sejanus's.
But it was far too late to turn back, he already was at twelve and already buzzed his curls so he was stuck here with a job he hated. Not much could be done.
And Sejanus did try to do his job, he tried to be like his friend Coriolanus who was stern and took the job very seriously but of course, there were times where he struggled.
Like right now, he was frozen with confusion as he watched a girl with [h/c] hair scaling one of the fences. She had a dark brown bag around her shoulder. His brows furrowed even more as he wondered what was she doing.
But then he had to remember his job and how what the girl was doing was very much something he had to report.
No one was allowed beyond the fences because one, it was seen as dangerous because they were made to keep wild animals.
And two, it was seen as rebellious since at some point if anyone was able to get far enough they could leave the district and start their own life far far away from all of this mess.
Sejanus looked around, slight panic wavering in his eyes as he realized he was the only one who had noticed the girl climbing up and over the wall. She was almost out of his sight, her dark green skirt blending in with the scenery.
He cursed under his breath as he started to climb up the fence, hopping over it and looking in the direction of the girl. She seemed to be in a rush as she looked around the field.
"Excuse me! You know you're not allowed to be here, right?"
His voice seemed to have startled her as she jumped a bit, she looked him up and down quickly. She clenched the brown bag as he eyes glanced to the gun he was holding and he saw how she tensed up, her eyes growing wide.
She looked scared– no, terrified. Like a rabbit behind hunted by a fox.
That was another thing Sejanus hated about being a peacekeeper, no matter what he was always going to be feared because of that stupid uniform and the firearms they had to wield while on patrol.
It didn't matter how gentle he was as long as he was in uniform.
"Please...don't hurt me."
"Hurt you? I..I wasn't gonna- look, you're not allowed to be past that fence. I won't report you or anything, I swear. But you could get hurt or lost-"
"I know where I'm going." She had cut his worried rambling short, grip tightening on her bag.
His brows furrowed in slight curiosity. "And just where is that?"
"There's a few herbs down from here near a river." She replied. "I need to get them for a friend of mine...she's sick and we can't exactly afford medicine at the moment." She murmured the last bit but loud enough for Sejanus to frown.
He knew he shouldn't. He knew he should have done his job and escorted her back over the fence.
But of course Sejanus's heart always won over his brain so before he could even stop himself he had said;
"Alright. You can go."
A warm smile had spread onto the features of the girl in front of him, her eyes glistening with hope as she uttered; "Really?"
Sejanus nodded, looking over his shoulder just to be safe. "Yes, really. But, I have to walk with you and you need to make it as quick as possible."
"Deal! I'll be quicker than two shakes of a lamb's tail." She giggled and Sejanus couldn't help but smile as he followed beside her.
As they walked, Sejanus took small glanced over at her. Her sense of style didn't seem to fit twelve, everybody remotely dressed the same with mostly dull colors or neutral tones but she had a much more lively pallette with splashes of red, orange and yellow.
"Starings rude, you know."
He quickly looked away, pressing his lips together in a thin line as she had cracked another smile before laughing and playfully hitting his arm.
"I'm just playing around! Jeez, for a peacekeeper you sure are sheepish." She hummed as she looked up at him and he glanced back over at her.
"Yeah, I'm horrible at my job I know."
"I'm not complaining, just glad I got one of the good ones." She smiled before she realized they were near the river and she crouched down near one of the nearby trees.
Sejanus watched as she pulled out a small jar and began picking dark purple berries, careful placing them into the jar. He tilted his head a bit while he watched her like a curious child.
"Elderberries." She spoke and his brows knitted together before she continued to explain. "Help with the immune system. We crush em' and brew em' into a real sweet tea."
Sejanus nodded as he knelt down. "Can I help?"
"You really are different, hm?" She tilted your head up at him, giving a teasing smile. "Kind, thoughtful and helpful? Are you sure you picked the right job?" She asked as she handed him one of the small jars and he shook his head.
"I wanted to be a medic." He said as he carefully picked the berries, putting them into the jar and the girl beside him hummed in amusement.
"That's surprising. What made you change your mind?"
"A friend. I'm only here because of him, oh and a little bit of rule breaking back home.." He sheepishly admitted and she giggled, standing up.
"Well you are just full of surprises, huh?"
Sejanus shrugged with a smile as he placed the jar carefully into her bag. "Guess I am."
As the two had walked back to the fence, Sejanus had picked a perfect spot where there was no one on patrol at the moment. It was like she had never even went over the wall.
He helped her over it, giving her a small boost up before climbing over it himself and he dusted off his uniform as he placed her bag back in her hands and she hummed a 'thank you' as she put it back over her shoulder.
"Y'know, I hope we meet again. Under better circumstances, of course."
"Me too- wait, I never caught your name."
She giggled, turning on her heel. "I never threw it!"

It had been a couple of weeks since his run-in with that [h/c] haired girl. Weeks since and he hadn't seen her again, he hoped that meant that her friend had gotten well enough that she didn't have to sneak over the fence again.
He was still thinking about her as he sat with Coriolanus, sitting at one of the tables as he was watching Lucy Gray perform. He was never as wowed, mainly because unlike those in the capitol he grew to already appreciate music.
"Whoops! Coming through, Blondie!" A familiar voice giggled as a girl with [h/c] haired brushed past the two to set some drinks off at the table next to them and Sejanus's eyes widened.
The fence girl.
He immediately stood up and walked over to her and as soon as she had turned to face him her face broke into a smile which he copied.
"You again!"
"Me again."
She gave him a skeptical gaze yet there was a playful smile on his face. "Are you stalking me?"
"Yeah. And it was just so hard because you never tossed me your name." He sighed like a damsel in distress, shaking his head.
She had giggled, holding out her hand. "[Y/n]."
He shook it, keeping a gentle yet firm grasp on it. He thought that maybe being a peacekeeper wasn't all too bad now.
"Sejanus."

UNRELIABLE NARRATORS; SIDE C
*NOTE; Gideon Nav propaganda below Narrator's, as poll maker decided to cut some under Read More for post length
The Narrator Propaganda:

Depending on the ending, he can be
Spoilers I guess??? He's always trying to guide Stanley to the outcome HE wants, which is a very, very small chunk of the game where the player just obeys everything and doesn't experience anything else. Obeying Narrator to a T will win you the "Freedom" ending, where Stanley can finally leave the office building, and Narrator will wax on about how Stanley's "happy" and "finally free to live at last". ...exceeeept, on completion, Stanley will spawn right back in the building as though nothing happened, restarting the adventure all over again. The truth is that Stanley will never be free, regardless of what the Narrator says. Stanley is trapped in the building and will stay trapped no matter what. This truth can only be acknowledged if you're defiant, and even then, I may be mistaken but I'm pretty sure the Narrator never fully admits this??? The museum ending has a WHOLE DIFFERENT narrator explain their mutually fucked circumstances. The dishonest factors can increase in other ways from the player's input (for example, the Narrator might say "Stanley walked through the left door", but the player can use their input to defy this statement and go through the right one instead, therefore making the Narrator's statement inherently dishonest and the Narrator will get pissy about it, changing the outcome for that path). Sometimes he'll misdirect when he's petulant, especially if the player is directly defying his instructions, which makes the game feel like a game of tug-rope for control at points. I want to say there are times where he directly attempts to trick the player but admittedly I can't think of an exact instance. Plus you know, the Narrator has a large ego and always talks big about things like his importance and integrity and whatnot so who knows how much of that is even sincere and how much is a sad veneer, but that's getting into overanalysis territory and my fingers hurt so let's leave this here. I hope this was coherent.

He is literally the narrator, and he constantly tries to mislead and lie to Stanley through the narration to get him back on the story’s proper path
He constantly narrates what Stanley is feeling as if it is the truth, when it is not. He speaks as a authority, and while he is one, he is definitely not reliable.
Gideon Nav Propaganda:
(Spoilers for Ht9) She just. Fully ignores most of the magic plot happening around her in the first boom to be a dyke. In the second book it’s even less reliable and it’s fully fucking insane. It’s first person but she’s telling YOU (harrow) what is happening and it’s impossible to decipher. The appearance and personality of every character is fully morphed by Gideon’s mean dykishness.
MASSIVE spoilers. Like even mentioning that this is a thing is a huge fucking spoiler. I normally don’t care about spoilers that much but I legitimately feel awful for anyone with even a passing interest in reading these books who has this spoiled for them. Anyway. Yeah turns out the second-person narration is actually a first-person narration by the dead girl living in Harrow’s head whose death traumatized Harrow (and the entire fandom) so badly that she literally lobotomized herself to forget it and give Gideon a chance at not having her soul digested.
constantly adds her own commentary, does not pay attention to the interesting moving parts of the plot bc she's too busy looking at pretty girls, cannot be trusted to read her own intentions correctly never mind anyone else's. I love her dearly
she just doesn’t notice or doesn’t give a shit about a ton of plot-essential information. Harrow and Palamedes are talking about a necromantic theorem that would blow open the entire story if we could hear them? You can instantly feel Gideon’s eyes glaze over and her mind wander to the nearest available hot girl, and our attention goes with her. It’s handled so smoothly that you might not even notice it happening until a second or third read.
More Propaganda under cut!
Gideon Nav is all but useless as a narrator, and we love her for it. So first of all, she knows absolutely nothing. She grew up under a rock. Almost literally. When the plot is happening near her, she almost never tells us about it. Politics, history, and the magic system are boring. Let her know when there's something she can FIGHT. She also has very selective emphasis and focus that can change a scene completely without ever actually lying. She can tell the same story—to us, in her third-person narration as a factual recounting—and in one version the incident will be a schoolyard scuffle, while a later telling will reveal it to have been a near-homicide. She'll confidently interpret other character's motivations and emotions, only to later be proven wrong. But the thing that makes her REALLY unreliable? She lies to HERSELF constantly. She will tell us in her narration that she doesn't give a shit where someone disappeared to, and then spend the whole day searching for them. She'll say she hates someone, when. Well....
okay so i am actually going to do one segment about her own book and one about harrow’s so many apologies and also many spoilers ahead okay? okay so in gideon the ninth it’s a well known thing that she’s an unreliable narrator on two fronts: she lies to herself and therefore us about how she’s feeling and what she’s thinking, and also she isn’t paying attention to the plot at all. the only things she pays any attention to are hot girls, swords, and hot girls with swords. at one point she watches their only way out be sealed off and is so bored about it that she goes to sleep watching it happen, taking absolutely no note of “oh hey they’re trapping us here”. later someone asks IN FRONT OF HER “hey where did all our shuttles go” and shes like “😌😌😌😌😌😌😌😌😌” and still does not make the connection. babygirl. but THEN!!!!! in HARROW the ninth (MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD) gideon is the narrator the ENTIRE TIME (except for the revised canaan house parts) and not only does she editorialize, she also straight up lies about events and motivations! partially justified by her being inside harrow’s head, but like. babygirl. beloved. the interjections of “holy fuck” and “pommel” and othersuch things is so important to my mental health and wellbeing. thank you. thank you for lying to us so so much.

nct: sunflowers attacking dream over recent haechan live ☠
tldr: during haechan’s recent welive he said he permed his hair & dream "thought something was wrong" with it so he got it straightened again. some sfs/hc solos started losing their damn minds over that🤕 he also talked a lot abt music he wants to release and highkey called sm out, and all of this got the sunflower girlies real mad i guess..
so earlier haechan went live on weverse and was talking about dream's reaction to him perming his hair:

icl and say i’ve been keeping up w this 284828483 year old unitzen drama but i do remember the coworker allegations the last person was talking about, it got really bad at one point, however that doesnt excuse the INSANITY that is going on here. inserting urself into this big ole grown man’s relationships and acting like hes some kind of poor bullied people pleaser who can’t make any choices for himself is so crazy PLEASE wake up. if any of yall lewsers read past the first line of those translations youd see he agreed and said he also didn’t like the way the perm came out (bc the back was all curly and his bangs weren’t)☠️ imagine getting ur hair done and looking crazy, so u listen to ur homeboys and get it fixed but ur deranged 70 hour sceentime having ass fans start acting like they punched u unconscious, strapped u to a chair and straightened it themselves.. id smoke a pack the size of both koreas too if my stans were so insufferable like dont embarass me.. all y’all doing is exposing u have absolutely zero friends bc ive never seen a more normal interaction between groupmates☠️

So first off I don't think he's nice at all, lol. He's rude as hell. But of course, people can be kind without being nice-- Ursus in L'homme qui rit is a good Hugolian example, being a foulmouthed guy who'll insult anyone while also giving them the food from his own dish and the clothes off his back. And people can of course be very nice while being deeply unkind, as witness: too many examples to even start listing.
As for Grantaire in this regard, I think there's an important indicator of his general engagement with others in Preliminary Gayeties, when we see Legle, Joly and Grantaire talking with Navet (the only gamin we ever see Grantaire talking with!):

There's a pattern here: Legle prompts kindness , and Grantaire follows his lead. I know certain people would sneer at that--of course Legle makes a lot of suggestions that use Other People's Money,how dare he!-- but (a) I hope none of those people are following this blog and (b)his friends are all people who want to help, and are united around that desire!. Legle is good at seeing how to help, even when he's not the one who can do it-- and we know already he will and does act when he does have the needed resources.
And Grantaire is Legle's friend. They don't just Hang Out By Association; Grantaire is probably closer to Legle than to anyone else in the group. He specifically came to join Legle and Joly on what they all know might be their Last Morning. He stays with them over going to Enjolras, his fixation and Reason For Everything, and his emotional reasons for staying are many, to be sure, but they all add up to that huge fact.
Grantaire repeatedly makes comments acknowledging that the world is unfair, and wishing it was better. He repeatedly argues that he is powerless, but also wishes he wasn't. He wants a better world; he wants to be part of making a better world; what he doesn't believe in, what he's taking care to not believe in, is the possibility of either of those things happening. That disconnect between Want and Can is core to his whole character.
But he's attached himself to people who believe in a better world; and to people who point out ways he can help. And he follows up on their suggestions as much as he can manage (see: he doesn't blink at backing up Legle's direct call for material aid , but cannot deliver on his promise to drum up support at the Barriere du Maine , a much more complicated role that he really doesn't understand.)
He wants there to be kindness in the world, and he wants to be part of making it happen. He is closest to people who help him see where and how he can be kind, since he struggles to figure it out on his own. He does not always see it, even then, or follow up well or even at all. But he wants to.
Does that mean he is?
I dunno. Probably? Maybe?
Sometimes yes, sometimes no?

- hes smart and good at what hes doing, I wouldnt be surprised if he got his position by skill not from his father
- he is the most powerful guy in the palace and he knows it but also knows he cant show it and has to nudge sam in the right direction not tell him what to do
- he knows how to play the court game, using servants and all, and also never shows all his cards (not asking sam about the announcement after he found out about it)
- its clear where his trust lies, techno, sneeg to a certain degree and wilbur (I believe he wasnt telling him everything so far just bc he was young and didnt need to know)
- techno is his bestie
- his goals are also pretty clear, at least thanks to what we know from wilburs pov
im sure he cares about the kingdom and advises sam well, his advice about choosing an heir made a lot of sense, but it was also a way to ensure that wilbur will know all the possible heirs and have his position more secure
now that theres a possible new heir, tommy has become a danger to this plan bc hes a latecomer to the party and its not sure if he would choose wil, were he to become the heir

oh yeah phil didn't get his position from his father! he became the consil all on his own merit. that's something you'll learn more about later on :)
the thing is is that phil is smart. he is cautious and knows when not to overplay his hand, and he also understands what moves need to be taken to progress the game. he knows his power and wants wilbur to have that as well.
niki is definitely the favored and expected heir. in a way, this is more her birthright than anyone else's. she's trained for this her entire life, and even if she has her doubts, she wants to believe that she's the best choice for the role. and the desire for power is there. it's been there since she was a little girl.
LMAOOO that's the real question here, how would quackity wear the coif under the crown. alternate universe where quackity realizes that he'd have to take the coif off if he ever became king and immediately decides he doesn't want it
(he is extremely clever and ambitious though. he knows what he wants and he is going to find a way to get it)
sam definitely still values phil's advice, but he's having a sort of... mid life crisis of sorts where he's realizing just how much of his rule has been dependent on phil. he's trying things out for himself, but he's not really sure what the long term effects can be. it's very dumb of him, in all honesty.

Thank you so much for remembering my words and sticking around my blog so long. 🥺💕 Anyway yeah, that unfortunately happens sometimes, and by sometimes, I mean a lot, ‘cause a) there are people out there who unironically think it’s okay to take creative liberties in translating because it’s their right as someone taking the time to do it (can’t be assed rn but if you search around this site enough, you’ll find an entire thread of translators talking about this), b), there are people who write for a lot of series they’re not into and therefore aren’t aware of all the context of previous novels, c) there are people who just slip up and make mistakes! Happens all the time unfortunately and most people don’t understand that if you misunderstand or change one thing it can change everything, and d) people who are tasked with translating 99% of the time never even talk to the people team of people who actually published the original, much less are in contact with the author themself! Mistranslations and drastic creative liberties happen a lot for example in the fandom I came from (The Legend of Zelda), which you can see a bit here! And if you still don’t believe me, you can go ask Dear old Author Neil Gaiman, who has even had some of the characters in his books turned from lovers to sisters and everything, a lot of the time completely without his knowledge until fans point it out to him! If you scroll his blog, I’m sure you’ll find those posts for yourself, assuming he doesn’t see an ask from you on if it happens. ‘Tis a sad thing, but Asagiri-sensei likely doesn’t even know when a mistranslation happens, much less do these people sit down and ask him things directly before doing their thing. He certainly doesn’t have involvement overseeing the process; that’s an unreasonable thing to ask of someone when it involves other languages they may or may not even be fluent in. And all the proof we need that it’s wrong is that the JP novel and the Stage Play (both things that Asagiri was directly, heavily involved in and/or directly penned the words of/material of the script for himself) both contradict it. If you’d like to take on that claim, since you’re implying I’m wrong, have at it! The burden of proof is on you, so, I look forward to seeing you send me the individual JP source lines of the Eng translations you want to take a crack at defending and a long wall of educational text explaining why each part of the English translation got it 1,000% right, directly in my in-box. How do you plan your stories? Do you actually have a sheet where you write anything down? And if you do, what do you put in it?
Cause I’m planning a story and I have no idea of where to start 😭
I HAVE BEEN WAITING TO ANSWER SOMETHING LIKE THIS BC I'D LOOOVE TO REDIRECT YOU TO SUNA SCRIBBLES' AMAZING WRITING ADVICE TAG because it has helped me SO much
here's a tldr(ish) for how i approached writing a fic. we'll use my blitzbee fic as an example:
come up with a scene you really really want to write for the fic. for me, it was the first meet of blitzwing and bumblebee arguing on the cliff in chapter 2. write everything that comes to mind with that scene and do not worry about making it fic quality. important actions, dialogue, setting, etc. make typos! make mistakes! make it silly! you'll rewrite it later
when you write out a scene, you may get hints of a plot (such as conflict characters can work through, whether internal or external) and character portrayals + interactions. from the example above specifically, we have a) bumblebee is big sad, b) the autobots don't like bee for some reason, and c) blitzwing is so weirded out by bee's big sad that he doesn't want to immediately kill him. all of these can be expanded upon, so from that:
write out the main characters' traits. their strengths, weaknesses, secrets, fears, quirks. anything. then write out reasons why they may have these traits and how it's important to their character development/conflict. make it fancy if you want!
i have more things in this part, such as motivation, the actual development/struggle, why he helps the other and why he lets the other help him. these are bullets a lot more in depth (and spoilery) and were added after i wrote this:
write out a basic plot. start middle end, if you can. you do not have to figure out every little thing (i didn't!) just a general idea of where you want to take this story. it does not have to be set in stone either. after all, my fic has six plots written out. four of them are drafts (lovingly titled Plot X, Plot 2, okay a more sensible plot and basic plot) and the last two are other important plots (overarching plot and trauma plot!) i have been actively revising these as i write the fic itself and with each plot written out, they increase in detail — let it happen! make all sorts of notes, whether in an indented bulleted list under each point or comments on the doc itself. i have 32 comments on mine full of notes!
if you're stuck here, studying the shape of stories by kurt vonnegut really helped me figure out a direction. also making the plot points written in silly ways took a lot of pressure off to get it perfect! while i may not reference the shape as much anymore (especially since the plot i wrote with it is outdated) it still gave me a really good start
and a side note, the overarching + trauma plots are to help guide me through the main plot. overarching is in the background, controlling and being controlled by the main plot's events, while the "trauma plot!" is for figuring out blitzwing's trauma. how did he get bpd? why? how does it affect him? how has it and others added more trauma? this is basically a glorified character past section lol
at the bottom of my outline doc, i have a section for future scenes i want to include. i have notes/comments on various spots and plot points that all have scenes attached, but these are the ones that are more detailed and need their own space. exactly like the first scene blurb in the very first bullet (which is actually at the top of my outline! i haven't deleted any of my past notes, even if they're outdated) actions, dialogue, notes — throw it all in there!
so after posting a chapter, i tend to take a break a few weeks long (or however long others need) to get back to the drawing board, making sure everything is up to date to prepare for the next chapter. it also really helps (for me personally) to have a buddy to rant to. i figure things out best when i'm talking to someone, or acting like i am, and can get feedback on it! ..or just let my brain figure itself out bc man have i gotten stuck on certain points before lol (see: trauma plot! and thats not even half of it)
it's not something that works for everyone — it didn't for me a year ago! but once you let go of rigid formatting and needing to have EVERY little thing figured out from the get-go, and just start typing what you want — with a little semblance of organization (at least labeling which is what) — you can go pretty far. but if not then maybe at the very least, it can lead you to a technique that works best for you.
true tldr: it's good to remember that anything relevant? write it down. doesn't have to be pretty, it just has to be functional. you want it to be easy to reabsorb if you forget the info

hi. zosan tattoo!au. a) no sensible chuckle here I'm fucking cackling b) love the paired sword through the pec tattoos they've got!!! love that detail!! c) does sanji have one of those butcher "heres where the different cuts come from off a pig / cow" guide tattoos or was that too cliche and d) how inked is the rest of the crew or were the brainworms contained to these two
this is a full ensemble cast AU baybee!! everyone's in it!!!!! the art is biased towards zosan because i myself am biased :^) but to give a very brief rundown: luffy's the owner of thousand sunny tattoo & piercing and the IRS would have his head on a pike if nami didn't have her shit together
everything luffy does is completely off the cuff, vibrantly colorful, extremely dynamic, zero guarantee that you'll get what you ask for bc he decides what he wants to do on a whim. his booking list goes like, almost two years out.
zoro's style is predominantly traditional japanese, will sometimes do reproductions of woodblock prints; very seldom goes back to traditional mediums but does so occasionally (this is a backstory to be unlocked)
nami is their piercer! she also has a backstory to be unlocked! she handles their licensing, inspections, and finances. they would all be dead without her.
usopp has a background in illustration (for children's books!) and loves to do both fun, imaginative, whimsical art and technical illustrations of plants
sanji does american traditional with unusual motifs (often food), still takes shifts at the baratie every so often, zeff has his paintings hung up, sanji finds this soooo embarrassing (endearing)
chopper is slowly working his way up to apprenticeship, was going to go into medical illustration And Then He Met Luffy
robin does extremely detailed and highly technical (body) horror
franky does sickass biomechanical type stuff
this is a direct quote from giffy because it's so fucking funny i can't bring myself to summarize it: "brook was a big name in the 80's and then luffy met him at like. a denny's parking lot and was like hey!! want a job. the denny's is run by moria, it's the closest place to undeath i can imagine"
jinbei does really bold, intricate geometric blackwork, guested a couple of times, and then luffy sniped him for permanents from big mom's for-profit college scam
i'll be real with you i am SO BAD at coming up with tattoos for characters but i think sanji would have something to do with different cuts of meat in some way tbh. the minute i posted this blue hit me with "okay please tell me sanji has a mermaid tattoo somewhere" and my jaw dropped bc i didn't think of that myself but it's absolutely correct, he does (either on the side of his ribs or on a thigh, idk). also glad you brought up the Tiddy Tattoos because now i get to make another bullet point explanation!
luffy has given everyone on the crew a tattoo over their heart (or like, as close as possible if they already had something there)
zoro was first, so his is the simplest: an anchor, for steadiness
sanji's is a reflection of where luffy met him: the way the baratie feels like for luffy via synesthesia, lots of colors and waves and love, very abstract yet vivid
zoro and sanji exchanged those right about when they both realized they're in it for the long haul re: luffy and originally it was just an acknowledgment of what each of them means to luffy
the italicized oh moment came later. everyone else continues to find this immeasurably funny.
(robin's is two hands: one reaching out for help, the other reaching out to offer it)
(usopp's is the shape of his kabuto with a bright burst of vivid green in the middle)
(chopper's is a caduceus staff with the wings bursting outwards in a spray of color, the edges fading out to cherry blossoms)

Re; work situation, u absolutely aren't being weird or anything, that's sussy af
thank you all for the input and i also have found another update since i made that post!
so let me summarize why i dislike this man beyond this potential sexism or however else you'd label these bad vibes:
- he fired our replenishment manager. for reasons i cannot fully disclose bc A. im not supposed to know about it (im friends w the other managers so they told me anyway) B. i dont know much about it (as only the SM has the full picture and even my friend managers barely know anything) and C. trying to maintain some semblance of privacy. but she is indeed getting an attorney over it so its like serious
- (RM was the 30s year old woman who helped serve as a middleman between us early 20s women and the 50 yo male SM. additionally she literally ran the store, super responsible for keeping us neat and timely and organized. when she was fired we all said the store would fall apart without her - and guess what! it did. the store has been a fucking mess since only one month after she left)
- he never hired a new RM. instead he made the new full time assistant manager (22 year old woman) take on replenishment duties on top of her actual role-specific duties and refused to share the burden by taking on additional duties as well, taking serious advantage of her
- full time ASM almost dies from a stress related health emergency due to being overworked. SM shows no sympathy or concern for her. when ASM puts in her two weeks he declines it and is only worried about who will cover him for his vacation. because he declined her 2 weeks she just resigned immediately and good for her because she almost fucking died. so now we are down an RM and an ASM and only have two part time closing managers and the full time FM (who really only should be doing framing duties and nothing else) (and prior to this SM coming to our store we used to have a full time RM, ASM, FM, as well as 3-4 part time managers, 2-3 of which closed at night exclusively and 1-2 of which worked mostly mornings or were flexible between mornings and nights. so we’ve already been short on managers for like, all of 2023 - hence why the idea of me becoming a manager was brought up around christmas/new years, to become another part time manager. but i was never given an offer and that role was never filled!)
- being down all these managers finally pushes him to hire new ones
- he hires a new guy, and already has ambitious goals of making him the new RM... within five days of working here. that guy in the break room is now in the running for this position. after only being here for five days.
- and now today ive learned. SM is also going to hire… another man….. to replace the ASM. which is what i just found out after making that other post. like come on. this is weird right
so like hes already been a shitty person what with everything going on these past 2 months and even his condescending attitude overall for this entire duration here, but now the extra layer of bringing in all these men in general, but specifically to replace the hard working, responsible, overworked, and overall well liked female managers, with random ass men who none of us ever met before, especially after pushing out said female managers one way or the other (direct firing, and almost indirectly killing), its just like. Again the pushing out of those managers was already bad enough but now the fact theyre being replaced with these random ass men, like, its already bad enough that the dynamic in this store is changing due to these well liked managers leaving, but then to go as far as to change the dynamic by bringing in all these men into a long, looooong time female-dominated store, its just. Like. aegh

Mike and Max friendship; I KNOW it's probably not gonna happen bc there is Shit Going On and they are probably not going to have time for slice of life interactions (this is going to be a reoccurring theme on this list methinks) but the little crumbs of madwheeler bestieism we get make me CRAZY like they are so similar in a lot of ways but also the opposite sides of a coin (e.g. uncaring family situation, Mike coming from wealth and Max from poverty) and every time we see a flashback of the events directly prior to s4 they're next to each other and it only makes me crazier .. I just want like ONE scene of them being platonic best friends PLEASE
Will happy ending; this can mean a lot of different things tbh I just cannot have him die or end unhappy .. this also means that anyone he cares about has to be safe too like Joyce and Jonathan and El and the rest of his friends!! if he's not unequivocally happy in the final episode I will change the trajectory of the Duffer Brothers lives

I want him to not be dead as much as the next Eddie fan and I think the ending they gave him was complete horse shit awful. but I also do NOT have any faith that they'd do a bringing-him-back storyline properly . I've read some good fanfic about it which only would make the reality of whatever they'd do more disappointing ! BUT the exception to this is if they pull some time travel bs, which I think is a good possibility tbh, like with the upside down being stuck in the day Will went missing and stuff, and then they could prevent all that from happening in the first place. I'd still be nervous about the quality of the writing but I'm on board w this conclusion nonetheless! but Eddie coming back as Kas or whatever.. well. I'd just be nervous putting that in the hands of the stranger writers I'm sorry

Will with a gun; this sounds like a joke but I'm so serious hglkjfdgk, I know a lot of people want him having a badass moment with a gun mirroring the shot in s1 where he's taken by the demogorgon and that sounds cool but I just. don't think it suits his character I'M SORRYYY I love that he's a protagonist who's gentle and sensitive, there are other characters who can kick ass violent style rather than my special little dude

What book are you currently reading? Seeing Like a State by James C. Scott. It's about how utopian projects pushed top-down by states never go well, because the kind of knowledge states seek to codify tends to ignore a whole bunch of other, very important but less 'valuable' (usually in terms of direct taxation) factors.
I've been reading it real slow bc it's like, dense and stuff and also i've been real sick recently, but it's really interesting. My favourite part is an example used early on; scientific forestry. So forests are like, old and organic and messy and full of stuff that isn't easy to use timber. Which, if you're looking at a forest and thinking 'how much timber can I get out of this forest on a regular basis', is kind of a nightmare. In the latter 1700s some german dude decided to try clearing areas and planting the same tree over and over in neat rows, making sure the area was clear of brush and general forest detritus.
The first crop, about 80 years on, was great! Lots of good quality timber, easy to harvest. The second crop was awful and the third was worse and so on and so on. Because this scientific forestry didn't consider any other factors but commercial exploitation of the forest. Not the nutrients in the soil, not the biodiversity of the biome, both of which were to blame for everything after the first bunch of trees growing poorly, but every other way that people rely on or interact with forests; religion, culture, food foraging, hunting, sneaking off to fuck, grazing for animals, goddamn medicines! Not to mention, y'know, all the ways that a forest exists and thrives sans any human interaction at all.
This is just a really bare example of what this book talks about - most of the projects it discusses are not about just imposing systems onto the landscape but onto people, who must interact with said systems or sometimes fight back against them. And not all state interference is bad or done for purely explotative reasons. But it usually goes badly because the people designing and implementing the systems don't know or care to know about how local systems already function - it just doesn't seem relevant to them and their big ideas. Also, obviously, there's a lot of colonialism here too, colonial administrators trying to align opressed indigenous populations into something 'manageable' and most importantly, taxable.
Like, in 1849, the Spanish going through the regions of the Philippines and assigning Hispanic surnames literally in alphabetical order, then enforcing those names by forbidding all officials from accepting any documentation that didn't use the (randomly assigned) Hispanic surnames. It didn't work 100% of course, these kind of insane, nightmarish projects never do, but it worked somewhat. There was a lot of forcing people to take surnames for the sake of being easier to track/tax. for instance people immigrating to the USA through Ellis Island
In a sweet little twist, at least one of these kinds of forests, from the late 1600s, so, before they had the bright idea to eliminate diversity from the trees they were planting, is a place of well loved and outstanding beauty, and also still harvested for timber on a 200 year cycle; The Forest of Tronçais. It was planted to provide wood for the ships of the French navy, but then they didn't need it so much. It got cut down a lot over the 1700s and 1800s for charcoal and stuff, but now it's, according to (a source in french on) wikipedia 'deemed by many as the most beautiful oakwood in Europe'. So that's nice.

a/n: this is my first official fic in god knows how long HELLO! it’s also my last of 2021 which is absolutely insane but i’ll save that sappy shit for a post of its own lmfhsjshs anyways a few of you requested something where the reader remembers peter after the spell so ask and you shall receive :D it’s mostly if not entirely fluff bc i feel like we’ve suffered enough already </3 much love and as always i hope y’all enjoy

peter puffs air from his cheeks in frustration.
“right. this suit doesn’t have a karen.”
he squints to better see through the eyes of his mask, still getting used to navigating without stark tech. it can’t identify him anymore. despite his directional dumbness, he manages to expertly stick his landing when he arrives at the avengers compound.
it’s late, the moon shining down on peter as he tiptoes around in the grass. if he’s discreet enough, no one will ever know he’s here.
he’s not exactly sure why he’s here, though. you’ve all forgotten him. in order to quite literally save the world, that was the sacrifice peter had to make. it was thanks to a spell casted by doctor strange.
the team still remembers spider-man, just not peter parker. no one remembers peter parker.
not even his artificial intelligence.
nevertheless, peter found himself swinging over to the compound tonight. he’s now strolling about its lawn in secrecy. he misses this place and the people it’s home to, you especially.
you and peter instantly became close after joining the avengers. you’d always partner up on missions and unwind together on days off, enjoying each other’s company at any given chance. but, peter hasn’t heard from you since everything with mysterio happened.
he hopes the two aren’t related.
“hey, gang! how’s it shaking?” he pretends he’s chatting with the team. “me? i’m hanging in there… get it? hanging in there?”
peter clicks his tongue at his pun. he shoots a web at the side of the building, testing its formula.
being back at the compound is bittersweet for him. on one hand, it reminds him of simpler times. on the other, it reminds him of what he’s lost.
“god, this is lame,” peter groans. “what am i doing?”
out of no where, a bright light flicks on and illuminates the lawn. peter’s mind tells him to run, but his body freezes.
“shit,” peter mumbles, fingers frantically pushing on his webshooters.
nothing is coming out. that test web must have been his last, and he didn’t bring extra cartridges.
“shit, shit, shit!”
the main doors to the compound open, you running outside and right towards peter.
“spidey?” you shout to him. “is that you?”
this isn’t the reunion peter had imagined.
he animatedly holds up his hands in defense, taking a few steps to lessen the distance between you two.
“uh, yeah. how’d you… how’d you know?” he squeaks. “you tricked the motion sensor lights. so much for that agility of yours,” you jab a thumb up at the aforementioned lights.
oops.
“sorry,” peter apologizes, lowering his hands. “since when did we have those, anyway?” a small smile forms on your lips. “a lot’s changed since you’ve been gone, spidey,” you quip.
giving peter a once over, you notice the shimmery fabric and reinvented spider symbol he dons.
“seems like you’ve changed yourself. i almost didn’t recognize you with the new suit.”
you have no idea.
your smile disappears suddenly, replaced by a scowl. peter gulps.
“where’ve you been?” you demand, but it’s from a place of concern.
spider-man hasn’t made himself easy to find as of late. peter prefers it this way because it saves himself and everyone else the heartache. that’s why he’s been avoiding the team; facing you would hurt too much.
“did you check queens?” peter retorts. “i’m staying close to the ground these days.”
he puts his hands on his hips in an attempted power stance.
“where have you been, y/n?” he flips your question. “where were you when mysterio framed me for freaking murder, huh?”
you scoff at peter’s intimidation tactics. he’s never been good with those.
“i was off world looking for fury so he could clear your name, spider-menace,” you coolly reveal. “you ended up doing that yourself, though.”
peter stands down, his shoulders slumping.
that makes way more sense than anything he came up with.
“oh,” he quietly acknowledges. “why wouldn’t you tell me?” you meet his eyes. “i didn’t want you to worry about it… you worry enough as is.”
you grab one of peter’s hands, desperate for his touch after being so starved of it. peter slots his fingers for you to thread yours through them, which you do. he smiles to himself behind his mask.
he’s missed you so much. even though you might not be in peter’s life anymore, at least you’re still in spider-man’s.
“i’m so sorry about all this, peter. about your aunt…” you shake your head, your voice wavering. “i would’ve reached out sooner, but i thought you might need space-“
peter drops your hand, his eyes nearly popping out of his head.
you said his name.
there’s no way he heard that correctly… did he?
“what did you just say?” peter chokes out. “i thought you might need space?” you repeat, unsure of what he’s referring to. “no, no, no. before that,” peter rushes to get his words out.
you think about it.
“i’m sorry…” you answer, peter motioning for you to continue. “peter?”
he’s so shocked that he stumbles backwards and trips over his own two feet. he falls in the grass, so you link your arm in his to pull him forward.
“you okay?” you laugh.
peter yanks his arm free from your grasp, refusing your help up.
“no!” he yells out. “no, of course i’m not okay! you’re not supposed to know me!” unbothered, you brush a stray piece of grass off your shirt. “what’re you talking about, parker?”
he can hardly believe it every time his name leaves your mouth.
“the… the spell!” peter goes on. “i don’t understand, i thought it worked! how do you remember me?”
you’re starting to realize what he’s on about.
“you mean strange’s spell?” you ask.
peter nods, too stunned to speak.
“that only made the world forget you. i already told you, i was off world when he casted it,” you say as if he should’ve known all along. “a bunch of the team still remembers you, actually.”
his mind effectively blown, peter slaps a hand over his forehead. you chuckle at him.
“didn’t strange explain how it works?” you question, peter pinching the bridge of his nose. “we didn’t really discuss the details.”
you offer peter your hand again to help him off the ground. he accepts this time, getting to his feet.
“yeah, he has an unfortunate habit of doing that,” you confirm.
you tug on the bottom of peter’s mask, asking for permission to take it off. he flinches. no one has seen him without it since his identity was exposed.
then, he remembers it’s you.
it’s you, and you know him.
peter leans into your touch, allowing you to remove the mask. you do so slowly and with care. you appreciate each and every one of his features that you haven’t been able to as you go, grinning. his cheek now rests in your palm, skin to skin.
“i could never forget you, peter parker,” you murmur, tucking peter’s mask into his hand.
your lips press to his one wonky eyebrow that you adore. he closes his eyes, savoring the feeling.
“i missed this,” peter breathes. he reconnects your hands and places a kiss on your knuckles. “i missed you.”
“you should come inside, stay a while,” you propose, grin widening. “there’s some friendly faces who would love to welcome you back.” peter laughs quietly. “i’d love to be welcomed back.”
you tilt your head to the side, peter mirroring you.
“plus, a couple new additions to the team have been wanting to meet you,” you hum. pleasantly surprised, his brows raise. “yeah? like who?”
the two of you start walking to the compound, hand in hand.
“there’s shang-chi. he went viral for saving a bus full of people that drove off its tracks,” you mention. “bus boy? oh my god, i used to watch that video on loop! he’s, like, a legend!” peter gasps, you giggling at his reaction. “well, now you can tell him that yourself.”
peter listens intently as you fill him in on which other members have joined the avengers. he can’t remember the last time he was this excited about something, let alone the last time he was excited at all.
he’s glad the two of you could pick up right where you left off, like nothing changed even though everything has.
it’s good to be home.
it’s even better to be home with you.
