idk how to word this without sounding like im shitting on new fans but there really has been a huge surge of everlore fans and now tiktok/eras tour fans (i’ll call them) who like… love the music but don’t really like.. know Taylor as a person quite yet? so it’s like the music is cool but then they get to her personality and think she’s nothing but cringy and weird and everything she does is annoying. and THAT’S what i don’t like i guess. stan culture has really shifted into being as mean and as cruel and crude as possible to and about the person you’re stanning ANYWAY and then laughing it off as a joke but.. idk. like she knows we make fun of her sometimes but it’s another thing to be like “shut up you’re old and cringe and embarrassing and not funny stop talking” and that’s a lot of what im seeing lately

mhhhh the obsession instagram swifties have with pictures where Taylor looks "Barbie", specifically pictures from the 5 occassions Taylor had straight hair during debut, feels similar to the whole "I miss baddie rep Taylor why is she such a grandma now :(" thing the same instagram swifties had going on during the everlore era. I made a post a while back where I talked about feeling like the intense focus on straight hair debut Taylor vs. the lack of curly debut Taylor content in comparison was an example of certain fans' view of Taylor as The Shiny Pop Star, which discarded her more authentic, messy, relatable moments. Which probably is a slight exaggeration, but I find it interesting that in this moment in time where Taylor is actively letting go of many of the forcefully perfect aesthetics usually associated with female Pop Stars, there appears to be a portion of the fandom so laser-focused on the moments where she does deliver "perfection". And I am not here to tell anybody how to be a fan, I am just wondering how some of these people feel about the aspects of Taylor that are less polished and instead are dorky and awkward and earnest - traits that make Taylor so unique in the pop sphere.

it’s lucky taylor decided to cover all (most) of her eras instead of just the albums that hadn’t been toured because imagine playing a show that was 50% lover and midnights post-joever (and nearly 50% songs about him/written WITH him during everlore). i’d cancel the tour two shows in.

The tour will be from Daylight to Midnight. We will start with Lover Era music. Cruel Summer, ME!, YNTCD, Paper Rings, Cornelia Street, DBATC, and Daylight/Red Mashup. She will transition into a Mashup of songs from Red. Move into the Folklore/Everlore era, and end with Midnights songs. Her setlist will be 4 hours long

QUICK! give me some arm lyric ideas. my go to for rep and eras was “i’ll never forget you as long as i live” and then also for atlanta i wrote “you drew stars around my scars” but i want some new ones for today!! some ideas i had were “long story short i survived” and “love you to the moon and to saturn” to rep my everlore besties but IDK you guys tell me!!!

I'm not sure how I feel about the visuals for Taylor's new era. I liked the transition she made with "Folklore" and "Evermore". Do you think she is returning to pop?

I guess you don't need my prediction anymore since you've probably already listened to the album, but I actually still haven't because I am sitting here waiting for my earbuds to charge (because I am a dummy dumb who forgets to plan 🙃), so I might as well answer a few questions before I log off for release night!

Friend, I am a certified Everlore stan till I die, so I know how you feel <3 But as Taylor says herself, one of the main constants about herself and her music is change. She is never gonna do exactly what she did before, so I am always extremely excited to see where she goes next! With the initial photos I thought 70s soft rock, but with the new teaser trailer it's looking like a completely different direction. And yes, the infestation of Jack all over the writing credits (I say that with nothing but love for that galaxy-brained little weasel) leads me to expect a true force of pop, the likes of which we haven't heard in several album cycles. But like I said, it will never be exactly the same as something before it, and I'll leave it to Taylor to find a way to put a new spin or flavor on whatever she gives us. Whether moody, mystical, funky, retro, or something else entirely unforseen.

why do swifties forget that covid-19 is a thing that happened (is continuing to happen) that dramatically affected every single persons life when we talk about the eras tour?? like in taylors intro speech and in so many commentaries people only want to talk about her ingenuity or the reclamation of her stolen work and like those things are definetely a part of the picture... there was a fucking pandemic!!!!!! there was a goddamn reason that lover didnt get toured and everlore got written!!!!! this all would not have happened if not for the pandemic and everyone across all of society needs to stop pretending that this didnt happen. this was a massive historical event that we cannot remove from our collective conciousness if we'd like generations after us to have any hope of learning from our actions and our mistakes

Eras Setlist Thoughts

so, the eras tour has officially begun!! as someone who’s been a swiftie for my entire life, i have quite a few thoughts on the setlist. those are left below:

i was definitely not expecting miss americana, but i am so excited about it

i’m queer as fuck so i am so excited about you need to calm down (i can’t wait to scream “shade never made anybody less gay”)

i’m so glad love story is on the setlist; in the month between my two shows, i’m getting a tattoo of a lyric from the song so i’m so excited to get to hear it live

there’s significantly more evermore than i thought there would be (and i’ll end up crying to all of it)

i’m SO excited to scream “i come back stronger than a ‘90’s trend!”

i’m surprised she’s doing ready for it again

the fact that speak now only has one song on the setlist is CRIMINAL

folklore also has so many more songs on the setlist than i expected

overall, i’d say i’m pretty satisfied with the setlist. i do wish there was more speak now & self titled & less everlore, but it’s not the end of the world. it’ll still be an absolutely beautiful experience and i’m beyond excited to see taylor and this tour.
