the only metric that should be used to determine whether an adaptation of Cats is good is “if cats could comprehend human media, would they approve of this”
a cat would approve of the stage show but be deeply insulted by the movie for the same reason a cat’s dignity can survive the most unhinged case of zoomies but not having a made up song sung about him. I will not elaborate further.
#actually I will elaborate but I will do so in the tags just to be difficult#the entire reason the stage show is good but the movie isn't exists on a micro level in the song bustopher jones#the poem/song in itself is making fun of neighborhood cats that mooch food off the whole street#but in its original intent it's clearly doing so affectionately and in a way that assigns a certain degree of dignity and respect to the cat#same vibe as in the modern day when you refer to your cat as a distinguished gentleman#even though he fell out of his cat tree trying to lick his own butt five minutes ago#the stage show captures that energy and exaggerates it and creates a highly likable character as a result#and then there's the movie#I'll admit it started off pretty strong in comparison to the wholesale character assassination of jenny anydots#but it quickly devolved the same way into something that holds absolutely no regard for the intent of the source material#it goes out of its way to strip all of the dignity and likable qualities from the character in its interpretation#and goes straight to mean-spirited mockery of everything we liked about the poem and the character in the first place#it doesn't feel like it understands that the song is about a genre of cat people encounter and not a specific person#either that or whoever directed it just really hates that type of cat#or completely forgot they were making a movie about cats but that seems unlikely because the movie is called cats#anyway that's why a cat would approve of the first but be insulted by the latter if it could understand either#cats definitely don't have the same concept of dignity as humans but they inarguably have one

Green tinted sunlight filled Hitoshi's bedroom, a stream of it beaming directly onto your sleeping body. Unconsciously your eye opened and quickly shut again at the bright light. You groaned and pulled the covers over you more like a hooded cape and pulled your knees in until you were sitting on them with your butt in the air.
You inch wormed across the massive bed searching for Hitoshi's warm body. It felt like you were crawling across a wide valley until finally you managed to inch right off the bed and onto the floor with a thud and a yelp.
The sound of a warm and hearty laugh filled your ears from another place in the room. The floor was cold against your skin and you quickly bunched the blanket that fell with you completely around every inch of bare skin. You sat up with a groan and smacked your lips. Not really bothered that you had just plummeted off the bed, your senses were still halfway asleep and your mind fuzzy.
"Do you get out of bed that gracefully every morning?"
Your head slowly turned to look in the direction of the bedroom door where Hitoshi was standing with a massive smile on his face, your own face lit up but at something completely different. In his hand he held a familiar small brown bag and in the other was what you assumed to be your favorite breakfast tea.
Your eyes wondered around the room as you remained on the floor. The curtains of Hitoshi's bedroom window were slightly open and that green light was from the sun projecting through one of the plants thin leaves. It was daylight outside and you could see that his window looked out into a thickly wooded area. It was calming how it looked that morning, a light dewy fog filled the air and fall colors littered the scene.
Humming you laid over on your side on the floor and bundled up, staring out the window with a sleepy smile. Hitoshi laughed and finally made his way into the room, walking and placing himself beside you. He looked down to your cradled body on the floor and shook his head as he lowered and sat next to you crisscrossed. You mustered up enough energy to inch closer to him and rest your head on his thigh.
"You seem to be less of a morning person than I am," he chuckled and brushed your forehead with his warm palm, leaning over and pressed a kiss to your temple.
You nodded and rolled over onto your back, pulling your knees up and keeping the blanket clutched around your body. You looked up at him and smiled. His violet hues were bright and wide.
"You know, it's your fault I fell. I was trying to find you but you weren't in the bed," you stated with a still sleepy voice as the back of your hands rubbed the sleep from your eyes.
Hitoshi nodded and ran a hand through your hair and played with it. "Yeah, I went and dropped Eri off at Deku and Shouto's. I guess it's a good thing I got you food, peace offering?" He dangled the bag over your nose and you went to grab at it but he kept it out of your reach. "On second thought, I think you should beg for it, you know just a little trail run before tonight!"
If your eyes weren't wide open, they were now. Even this early in the morning Hitoshi Shinsou could still be as smug and cocky as usual, he had no on or off button.
You rolled your eyes and decided to play along with his game. A smirk grew on your face and you let the blanket fall just a little from your chest, revealing your shoulder and collarbone. His purple brows rose and looked at the exposed skin before glancing back to your own (e/c) eyes. You wrapped an arm over your head and let your hand rest on his thigh as it inched inwards. His eyes widened and he chuckled as you licked your lips and parted them.
"Hitoshi," you sighed out, softening your eyes and arching your back as he was slowly being lured in like a sailor to a siren song, leaning down closer to your face. Your smirk grew bigger as you went to speak again against his lips that now hovered over yours, "Give me my fucking food now or you die!"
Hitoshi visibly shuddered from head to toe as a chill ran down his spine and he smiled. "Yes ma'am!"
He sat back up straight and released the bag from his hand, making it free-fall and land on your face.
You laughed and grabbed it, removing your other hand from his thigh and up to his face. He smiled and took it, pressing a kiss to the inside of your palm. One of your favorite types of kisses that he gave.
For the next few minutes you sat there on the floor together as you ate and talked about the day ahead of you. It was pretty early in the morning and you weren't exactly rushing anything.
"So, not that I'm complaining, but why Disneyland?"
You shrugged your shoulders as you swallowed the bite of food you were chewing and crossed one leg over your knee.
"I don't know. I've only been once, I was a kid then and don't remember much. I love everything Disney and I love theme parks." You paused and looked off and Hitoshi asked what was wrong. "You know - now that I think about it, Disney is kind of pricey isn't it?"
"And?" He asked with a confused smirk.
"Well, maybe I should choose something a little cheaper for our first date. Maybe a movie or something?"
Hitoshi sighed and rolled his eyes as he sat back on his palm and ran a hand through your hair with a smile. "(Y/N), I'm going to tell you this one time and one time only. Stop worrying about money. It doesn't matter the cost, if it makes you happy that's all that matters. I'm very financially stable, trust me. Now, promise you won't bring it up again?"
You looked up at Hitoshi, his violet eyes serious and awaiting your answer. But it was hard not to worry about money, for the past few years in college that's all you ever worried about. How to make ends meet, get bills paid on time before you even got food to feed yourself. You never treated yourself to anything ever, because you were always concerned with how the hell you were going to manage on the shitty checks you made from the café.
Now though, being with Hitoshi, he was basically asking you to just not worry about money at all, like it just grew on trees and could be picked from the stem at any time. You and the man had become so close in the past week, you easily forget that he's a pro-hero that makes more than enough money to survive. He was just Hitoshi to you.
The hero looming over you cleared his throat and raised a brow, making you shake the thoughts in your head. You smiled and took a bite of you food and nodded, replying with a full cheek of sandwich, "I promise Toshi."
"Alright, now how about we get up and get ready and you get just a little bit more excited because - we're going to Disneyland!"
Tumblr media
"Oh come on Hitoshi, just one more time, please!"
Shinsou rolled his eyes as you were dragging him back towards the Haunted Mansion, the two of you had just gotten off of it, plus you rode it twice before when you first arrived at the theme park. For some reason you were in love with that ride, seeing the holographic ghosts dancing made you giddy and point, seeing other ghosts that you didn't see before. You already had the 'Grim Grinning Ghosts' song lyrics down and sang along when your cart would ride through the graveyard.
As you pulled him along with all your might he couldn't help but smile at how cute and excited you were. You decided to wear some skinny jeans and black converse, a light pastel pink hoodie under your black jacket and to top it off you wore Minnie ears that looked like Marie's white and fluffy cat ears with a pink bow in the middle, from Aristocats.
With a sigh Hitoshi finally started walking on his own, relieving you from the daunting task of pulling his body weight. He wrapped one arm around your shoulder and pressed a kiss to your head. "Okay, one more time and that's it. There are other rides besides this one, plus I'm getting hungry!"
You smiled and stood on your toes to place a kiss to his cheek and you both walked up the spooky path and took your place in line. The two of you made your way through the faux graveyard, reading the epitaphs on the headstones planted along the way. Hitoshi walked behind you, with his arms draped and wrapped around your shoulders, your hands hung from him as you both took wide awkward steps and talked.
You were minding your own business when a group a people noticed the hero and greeted him. Shinsou smiled kindly and nodded. For the man to be more of a low-profile type of hero he did have a pretty decently sized fan-base. In fact, quite a few other park-goers noticed him and stopped to tell him how he was the coolest pro’s they knew and some asked for autographs. It was cute to see Hitoshi interact with them, especially his smaller fans. Signing his name in their little Mickey Mouse notepads meant for Disney character signatures.
As you continued to make your way towards the front doors of the ride, Hitoshi hugged you close and pressed a kiss to you temple as he kept you warm in the cold air. "I'm sorry about that and for the other times today. I hope it's not ruining our date."
"Toshi, don't apologize for it, I'm having the time of my life with you! And I'd be sort of a bitch to get jealous over some fans getting excited over their favorite hero. You know I forget that you're even famous most of the time."
"Well, that's sort of a relief to be honest. With my quirk, either people are to scared to be with me or they only want to be with me because of it."
You frowned for a bit, hearing the underlying hurt in Hitoshi's voice. To be honest you even forgot he had a quirk.
"Brainwashing right?"
You could see how some people might be timid about it but you weren't at all. If someone really got to know this man, they'd realize what a total sweetheart and kind soul he is. There's no way he'd ever use his power to take advantage of anyone without their own say so. And then to be with him only because of his quirk or status as a pro was just disgusting.
When it came to significant others for you, you never cared how much money they had or their status in life. As long as they loved you and treated you well that was all that mattered. Hitoshi, he's gone above and beyond those things, he literally saved you and took you in, showers you with witty compliments and affection. He's honestly just perfect and completely unexpected, so wonderfully unexpected.
You smiled and nuzzled your cheek into one of his arms wrapped around you and pressed a kiss to it. He smiled and pressed his own cheek to your face. "Well you don't have to worry about people like that anymore Hitoshi, you know why?"
"Why?" He asked with a smile.
You put your fists on your hips and gave Hitoshi a cheesy smile, "Because I am here! Ha ha ha ha ha!" You replied in your best All Might voice.
Hitoshi coughed up a laugh and flicked your Minnie ears, making them fall into your eyes. You giggled and pushed them back up to see the doors of the ride opening up to you. You excitedly started to shake and Hitoshi finally backed off a bit, keeping his hands on your shoulders as the two of you walked in and took your last Haunted Mansion ride of the day.
After, you and Hitoshi walked around the theme park hand in hand with massive smiles on both of your faces. You ducked in and out of different rides, grabbed random sweet and sugary snacks and drinks and also stopped to take pictures with different characters. You practically squealed when you saw Winnie the Pooh and Piglet walking around.
Letting go of Hitoshi's hand and basically sprinting towards them as you waved with both hands. He couldn't help but laugh as the characters waved back and attempted to run towards you as well with as much enthusiasm. You gave them both big hugs and turned to look at Hitoshi with the widest and purest smile. Your cheeks pink from the cold and happiness, your (e/c) eyes sparkling. The hero felt a sort of electric pulse run from his heart and through his entire body making him take a delightful sharp breath.
"Fuck - I love her!"
"Toshi, I need a picture!" You pleaded with your hands clasped together as you bounced, the two characters on each side of you mimicking your movements.
Laughing, Hitoshi took his phone out of his pocket to snap a quick picture of you being squished between the two fluffy characters with a smile on your face. He then took his camera out of his bag to snap a few more cute shots. His favorite was one of you smiling big as Pooh and Piglet placed a kiss to your rosy cheeks. When you finally had your fill, you gave the two a peck on the nose and waved goodbye before skipping back to your date, flying into him at full speed as you hugged him.
Hitoshi grunted and held his camera up, snapping a picture of you looking up at him with the cutest face. You crossed your eyes and stuck your tongue out, making him laugh and snap another picture. Finally you placed a hand over the lens and chuckled.
"Hitoshi, that's enough. I'm sure you have enough pictures now to last a lifetime!"
The hero smiled as he held the camera to the side and grabbed your chin with his fingers, keeping your sparkling (e/c) hues on him. "I could never have enough."
Your eyes softened as you looked at him, his own violet eyes glimmered as you could see your reflection in them. All day long he had looked at you differently, it wasn't a bad different but you couldn't quite place your finger on it. You had been so caught up in all the excitement of Disneyland.
All the rides, music, sights and sounds, you sort of forgot about the one sight you loved most. The face of your hero, his purple hair, brows and eyes. That lazy smile and his flawless skin. You reached a hand up to trace one of his soft brows and brushed your thumb over his cheek.
Hitoshi smiled and cupped your wrist, releasing your chin and he melted into your palm as he pressed his forehead to yours. His peppery scent filled your senses as you inhaled him. He kissed the tip of your cold nose and you smiled. You kissed his cheek, trailing it inwards and towards the corner of his mouth. The tip of your tongue slipped out as you wet your lips that were drying from the cold air, the wet muscle grazing against Hitoshi's own lips.
He could feel a shock being sent through him and his fingers gripped the camera in his opposite hand tighter. You giggled as the hero growled lowly from your accidental lick. You wanted to do it again because he tasted like buttery popcorn from the snack he had finished off a few minutes ago.
"You taste really good Toshi."
"I wish I could say the same." He retorted.
You smiled and let your lips brush against his. He was restraining himself once again, keeping his word to let you choose the moment of your first kiss. His heart was racing and he could feel heat engulfing his body. His mind cloudy, questioning if this was it, would you pick to share your first kiss somewhere as cliché as Disneyland? Either way, Hitoshi didn't care, he was just more than eager to fulfill his hunger for your lips. To see if they tasted just as sweet as you looked and smelled.
His brows rose as he could feel you parting your mouth, your warm breathing hitting his lips and making them part as well.
"Hitoshi, kiss m-"
You were cut off by a loud rumble of thunder, making the both of you snap your heads from each other and look at the sky. Hitoshi groaned and screamed internally as he quickly placed his camera in his bag.
"Cock blocked again, now by mother nature!"
You furrowed your brows as you looked at the darkening sky and a light sleet started to fall before any rain. "Where the fuck did that come from?"
Hitoshi laced his fingers in your hand and started to walk, your feet quickly following along as you clung to his arm when another loud burst of thunder sounded off. He smirked as the two of you started to walk faster, making your way to the park exit and starting to lightly jog once out of the gate as it started to sprinkle. Thankfully, the park wasn't very crowded today and Hitoshi was able to get a great parking spot. He quickly unlocked the doors before you reached them and opened yours to help you climb in. Your body started to tremble while you waited for him to enter the jeep and turn the heater on. It was already a bone chilling cold outside and the light sprinkle and sleet didn't help.
Finally Shinsou made it into the jeep and quickly cranked it, turning the heat on full blast and making sure your seat warmer was on and on the hottest setting. He could see you shivering and your lips turning slightly blue. Reaching out an arm he instructed you to crawl over the console and into his lap.
You nodded, teeth chattering as you did what he said. Hitoshi couldn't help but laugh under his breath at the sound of your teeth repeatedly chattering like one of those toys. Once in his lap you weakly punched his chest with a smile then held your hands out to him and waited.
Smiling, Hitoshi cupped them in his and brought them to his lip as he breathed puffs of warm air and rubbed them generously between his palms. It didn't take long for him to thaw your fingers and warm your palms. He placed kisses to the insides of them before you pulled them to your chest as he wrapped his arms around you and held you close. His hands rubbing up and down your arms and back, working up a warmth throughout your cold body. Slowly as your head lay on Hitoshi's shoulder, your trembling started to stop and your teeth went silent.
"I'm sorry I didn't check the weather sweetheart. I had no idea." Hitoshi spoke into your hair.
You shrugged your shoulders and told him it's was fine and that you were starting to get tired anyway. Your head turned to nuzzle into the crook of Hitoshi's neck. The tip of your ice cold nose making him gasp and grip your back from the shock of it. You giggled and nuzzled more, tracing the cold skin all over his neck.
"You know what I take that back you little shit!"
Hitoshi started to squeeze your sides, making you pull your head back to laugh as you squirmed in his lap.
"Okay, okay! I'm done I pr-promise!" You tried to choke out between laughs and squeals.
Hitoshi tickled one spot that sent a shiver through your entire body and made your hips roll forwards and back on him. Unconsciously his head pressed back into the head rest of his seat as his hands gripped your hips and held you in place. A low groan left his throat as your laughing stopped. It's like the roll of your hips were a match striking against the side of a matchbox, igniting a flame in his belly as he panted, trying to calm himself. You went to move and his fingers gripped harder as he shook his head.
"Fuck - don't move please."
His tone was desperate and it sounded like he was at war with himself. You tilted your head smirking, and 'accidentally' moved your hips again making another groan leave his throat. It sounded low and husky and it made the blood in your veins surge all over.
Hitoshi's hands on your hips pulled you closer to him, driving you down on him even more and now causing a whimper out of your mouth. He grinned being able to cause you just as much torture, your faces now inches from each other, eyes scanning over the other's lips.
"You know, my lips are cold too Toshi. You haven't warmed them up yet ..."
The purple haired hero smirked and brushed his lips across yours, his eyes widened when he felt that they were legit cold.
"I'd love nothing more than to keep every part of you warm (Y/N), especially those cute lips. But, I want to keep them warm not just for today, but every day. I want them to belong to me and me alone."
"Well, how are you ever going to make them yours when you won't shut up and kiss me?"
Smiling, Hitoshi sat up straighter and leaned forward. One of his hands gripped the handle hanging from the top of his drivers side door and the other slid up to wrap around the back of your neck as his thumb brushed your jawline. You smiled back and clutched the front of his shirt and the both of you leaned in closer to close the distance.
The moment your lips finally latched with each other's, satisfied hums reverberated between you. Softly his lips enveloped your bottom one as yours pursed around his top one. The kiss was sweet and tender, making butterflies go insane in your stomach. His lips were so warm, just like the rest of his body and were so gentle. Tilting his head, you both smiled as your noses brushed together and he continued to kiss your lips with so much love. He was over the moon to finally taste your lips fully, they were sweeter than he imagined, almost like pure sugar. His skin tingling as if he had the best sugar high in his entire life.
Hitoshi nipped at your plump bottom lip and rolled it between his teeth, making you giggle on his mouth. The hero was so overjoyed at the moment, becoming a mess of smiles and chuckles himself as he placed sweet pecks all over your face until he met your lips again giving them one last lingering kiss. When he broke away, your arms wrapped around his neck and you hugged him close burying your face into his neck.
"Hitoshi, I love you, so much."
Hitoshi's eyes widened and he smiled as his own arms wrapped around you and hugged you close. He honestly felt like crying at the moment, being so overwhelmed to hear those words fall from your lips with such sincerity. He was relieved to hear them because he wasn't sure how long he'd be able to hold in his own true feelings for you.
Everything was so perfect in his life now that he had you. You were so unexpected but god, Hitoshi was so fucking grateful and he wouldn't change anything about how he met you and what the two of you went through together. It all only brought you closer and that's all he's wanted for the past few months.
His violet eyes fluttered shut as he buried his face in your hair and held you as if you were going to disappear. Rain started to pour from the skies outside, the droplets landing on the vehicle that shield the both of you from them. The sound was comforting and Hitoshi couldn't wait to get you home and spend the rest of your day together lost in each other, keeping yourselves dry and warm.
"I love you more sweetheart. Let's head home."

“How was he for you?” Arthur asked, reaching down to stroke the fat cat in his arms.
“He definitely lives up to his name. He’s such a ham,” Gilbert replied, snickering.
“Excuse you, his name is Hamlet.”
The German man waved a hand dismissively. “Hamlet, Ham, either works. He eats like a pig and wails like the world is ending if you’re even five minutes late feeding him.” He reached over and scratched behind Hamlet’s ears. “He’s cute though. Alfred’s gonna love him.”
The cat, a big Maine Coon, stretched out into both of their touches. He was a beautiful cream colour with rich brown accents around his feet, neck, face, and the tip of his tail. His purring rumbled throughout his whole body, and his blue eyes were half-closed in contentment. He was big enough that he spilled out over Arthur’s lap and onto the couch, and if he stretched up on his back paws, he had enough height to reach onto the kitchen countertops if he so chose.
“Thank you for agreeing to look after him for these few days. A year ago I might have been able to keep him hidden myself, but since we moved in together, there was no hope.” Arthur smiled down when Hamlet turned his face into his hand, licking at his fingertips.
Gilbert smirked then.
“What?”
“No, nothing. It’s been, uh, fun. Yeah. Might get a cat too or something after this.”
Arthur’s eyes narrowed, but Gilbert refused to say anything else. After draining his teacup, he scooped the big cat up and into the cat carrier at his feet and, after a final farewell to Gilbert, headed home with his present.
The evening was cold and brisk, the stars glittering overhead from a clear sky. Arthur’s breath puffed out in front of him as he strode down the sidewalk, and he burrowed his nose into his scarf and coat collar. He only hoped that this evening would go well; he didn’t want to keep Hamlet stuck inside of a box for too long, so timing would be everything. Alfred’s oblivious tendencies would work in his favour, for once.
Despite it being around seven on Christmas Eve, there was still a good amount of people in the streets, and Arthur often had to sidestep around someone or pause to keep the cat crate from bumping into someone’s body or bags. The walk from Gilbert’s apartment building to his and Alfred’s was only ten minutes, but crossed a few busier intersections.
“Just a little longer, boy,” Arthur murmured as he waited at one of the crosswalks. He tilted the cat carrier to be able to peer into it, and was met by Hamlet’s inquisitive stare. The cat didn’t seem stressed at all, just interested in his surroundings.
Arthur smiled to himself. He and Alfred had been talking about adopting a cat for a few months now, but their planning hadn’t gotten much farther than agreeing they both wanted one from a shelter and at some point in the future. Though he would have liked to go with Alfred to pick one out, Arthur also figured that giving Alfred a cat as one of his Christmas presents would also be really romantic. They could always go together in the future if they ever wanted another cat.
The light changed and Arthur stepped out quickly to avoid being jostled. Five minutes later, he sighed as he moved out of the cold into his lobby. His fingers and toes had regained feeling by the time the elevator stopped at his floor, and his heart rate sped up a bit as he approached the door.
He set the carrier down when he unlocked it and swung it open a crack. “Alfred?” he called.
The lights were off in the apartment.
There was no answer.
Arthur let out a quiet breath and smiled down at Hamlet again. “Good thing his work friends celebrate Christmas Eve and invited him over, huh?” he asked as he carried the cat inside and locked the door behind him. Bless Toris and Feliks, honestly.
He didn’t bother taking his shoes or coat off yet and took Hamlet into the guest bedroom. The closet there was small but stuffed full of mostly Arthur’s things, so Alfred wasn’t likely to go looking in there. He’d set up a litter box on the floor earlier, as well as putting down a cat bed, a bowl of water, and two toys.
“You’ll have to stay here for a little while, until after we eat dinner,” he told Hamlet as he picked the cat up out of the carrier and into his arms.
Hamlet mrrowed and butted his nose against Arthur’s chin before looking around the room.
Arthur smiled as he kissed the top of the cat’s head. “You can look around properly later, hmm? Once Alfred’s seen you. I’ll get you some food and you just need to be a little patient, darling.”
He placed the cat down into the closet and turned the light on. Hamlet immediately started batting at one of the mouse toys and sniffing around it and the bed. The Brit smiled as he shut the door, leaving the light on inside so Hamlet would be able to see while he waited.
A quick trip to the kitchen later and Arthur was back with a bowl of mixed wet and dry food that he’d hidden at the back of the cleaning supplies cupboard for the past few days. He stayed long enough to make sure that Hamlet had started to eat, then closed the door again and started on the rest of the preparations.
The prepared present box for Hamlet was stuffed under their bed. It was a pre-wrapped box with a top that could easily be removed and air holes already punched into it. The wrapping paper on the outside was busy enough that the holes were unnoticeable. Arthur had another cat bed on the bottom of the box, as well as another toy to keep Hamlet entertained for the hopefully short duration he’d be inside of it. He carried it to the guest bedroom for later on, then started on preparing a light dinner for the two of them.
There would be a proper turkey tomorrow at Alfred’s parents’ house, so for the evening the Brit settled on a simpler pan-seared steak and mash with roasted Brussels sprouts. He’d been practicing with Francis’s help, and at their latest cooking session, his French friend had been impressed at the results. Alfred could down anything remotely edible, he knew, but he still hoped his fiancé would enjoy it.
He had just finished plating everything when he heard the lock click and the front door open again.
“I’m home!” Alfred called, sounding a little bit hoarse.
Alarmed, Arthur poked his head out of the doorway to see Alfred somewhat struggling with a large wrapped box in his arms. “Oh dear, do you need help?” he asked, stepping forward.
“No!” Alfred yelped, his arms tightening around the box a little bit as he nudged the door closed with his foot. “Could you lock the door though?”
“Sure.”
Alfred edged around him and hurried into the living room to put the box under their small tree. By then Arthur had locked the door and turned around, only to be swept up into strong arms.
He laughed as Alfred spun him around. The laughter quickly turned into a squeal when Alfred pressed his still-cold cheek against his own, but he kissed his fiancé anyway. “How was the party?”
“Pretty chill. Tor and Fel opted for a smaller gathering this year, so it was only their closest friends. They were pretty bummed you couldn’t make it- Fel still insists you’re some sort of cryptid, but I promised to try and get you out next year.”
Arthur snorted. “We could have lunch with them sometime before then, too.”
“Yeah?” Alfred grinned brightly and kissed him again. “I’ll call Toris in a few days or something.”
“Sounds a plan. Now come on, food’s just ready.” Arthur tangled their fingers together as he tugged him off to the kitchen.
“And presents after?” Alfred followed him eagerly, sniffing at the air with appreciation. “Smells good, Art.”
“One present each today, like we agreed.” Though he shivered when he felt Alfred’s lips on the back of his neck, Arthur rolled his eyes and didn’t turn around to see the puppy eyes that were surely on display. “The rest tomorrow.”
“Okay, okay,” Alfred said with a defeated chuckle and nuzzled to him for a moment before looking over the plates. “Holy shit, you made all this yourself? It looks restaurant quality, babe.”
Arthur flushed happily at the praise. “Thank you, love. I hope it tastes okay as well.”
“I’m sure it will. You’re getting real good at cooking now. No more breaking the oven like freshman year of uni, huh?”
“I’ll have you know that was an accident.”
“Still on that train, huh?” Alfred teased as he moved the plates to the eating nook.
“Of course.” Arthur sniffed haughtily, but smiled as he slid in across from Alfred. He set a bottle of sparkling water and two glasses onto the table as well.
Dinner passed with Alfred telling stories from Christmas Eve at Toris and Feliks’s, as well as a drawn-out game of footsie under the table. Even after their plates were empty they sat at the table, nursing their glasses and laughing together.
Eventually, Arthur jolted. He reached out across the table and tapped Alfred’s hand, drawing the other man’s attention. “I think you’ve been patient enough. Present time?” He also didn’t want Hamlet to be alone in the closet for too long.
Alfred beamed at him. “Hell yeah!”
“Alright. I’ll go get yours real quick?”
“Oooh, mysterious.”
“Very,” Arthur said with a snort.
“I’ll clean up while you do, then! Wait for me in the living room when you’re ready?”
“Alright.” After a quick kiss, Arthur slid out of his seat and hurried down the hall to the guest room.
Luckily, he didn’t have to worry about Hamlet. The big cat was sprawled out over the pet bed, asleep with the toy mouse between his outstretched paws. He opened his eyes when the closet door opened and purred at the sight of Arthur crouching over him.
“Hello, big boy,” Arthur whispered, happy to stroke behind Hamlet’s ears. “Your big moment is coming soon. If you’re good, I’ll sneak you a few extra treats before bed tonight.”
Hamlet’s purring only increased in volume.
“Alright, come on, up you come.” Arthur grunted a little bit as he lifted the Maine Coon up and into his arms.
It was a slight struggle to manoeuvre the box from under the bed with roughly twenty pounds of limp cat in his arms, but after a few minutes Arthur managed to shove Hamlet inside. Ruffled but unbothered, Hamlet peered up at him with wide blue eyes before the Brit secured the top into place.
“You’ll be in there for just a few minutes, I promise,” Arthur told him.
Alfred was still washing up when Arthur made it into the living room, so Arthur settled on the couch with Hamlet’s box in his lap instead of under the tree while he waited. The American walked into the living room a few minutes later, lighting up at the sight of the big box.
“Oh man. So we’re both getting pretty sweet presents, huh?”
A self-satisfied smile stretched over Arthur’s lips. “Oh, definitely.” He knew Alfred would absolutely love the Maine Coon. “Would you like yours first since I’ve got it here already?”
“Sure.”Alfred was practically vibrating with excitement as he took a seat next to Arthur.
“Don’t shake it around, though. It’s delicate,” Arthur said as he handed the box over. His heart took off at a gallop as he watched Alfred examine it.
“Huh.” Alfred hefted it up a few times. “It’s lighter than it looks,” he mused, then froze when he heard a noise from inside. “Is that?” He whipped the lid off.
Hamlet meowed again and poked his head up, his front paws supporting his body against the edge of the box. He was still a bit ruffled as he looked around, and he started purring as his eyes landed on first Arthur, then Alfred right in front of him.
“Oh my God.” Alfred held out a hand for the cat to sniff, and he smiled when he felt the rough tongue against his fingers. “Oh my God. Oh my God, Arthur.” He suddenly whipped his head around to stare at Arthur.
“Wh-What?” Arthur bit his lip. “Do you like him?”
And Alfred burst out laughing.
Arthur stared at him in confusion. “What…?”
“No- No oh my God, Arthur, hang on.” Setting the box with Hamlet in it aside, Alfred rushed across the room to pick up the present he’d gotten for Arthur. He pushed it into Arthur’s hands, still chuckling. “Just open it.”
Arthur’s brows were still furrowed as he hesitantly lifted the top of that box off, and he nearly dropped it when he saw what was inside.
A small white and cream cat with green eyes and folded down ears stared up at him.
Unlike Hamlet, this cat was curled up on the bottom of its box, evidently more nervous than the other feline still peering around.
“Oh my God,” Arthur whispered.
Alfred laughed again, and this time, Arthur joined in. They fell against each other helplessly, because of course they would both get each other a cat for Christmas.
The cat in Arthur’s lap let out a mewl when its box was jostled, and Hamlet’s ears immediately pricked up. He jumped out of his box and peered into the other one, purring happily and forcing his way inside to curl up around and practically on top of the smaller cat.
“I guess…they’re friends?” Alfred managed to say, wiping a few tears from the corners of his eyes.
“I suppose so,” Arthur murmured, and smiled as he pressed a few kisses to Alfred’s cheek. “You silly thing.”
“Hey, you’re just as silly!”
“This just means we’re perfect for each other, hmm?”
“Aww! Arthur, that’s so sappy! I fucking love you, babe,” Alfred said as he wrapped an arm around Arthur’s shoulders.
“I love you too, Al,” Arthur whispered back. After a moment, while Alfred was still cooing and laughing over the cats, he pulled out his phone and snapped a picture of the two of them in the one box. He sent it to Gilbert.
Arthur: Alfred got me a cat too? (9:48)
It was only a few seconds before Gilbert replied.
Gilbert: i know (9:48)
Gilbert: [IMG attached]
A selfie of Gilbert on his couch, with Hamlet and the small cat curled up together on his lap.
Gilbert: you’re both fucking nerds (9:49)
Gilbert: merry Christmas (9:49)
“What’s so funny?” Alfred asked, looking over when he felt Arthur laughing against him.
Arthur showed him the phone screen.
“What? You asked Gilbert to hold onto yours too?” They dissolved into laughter again. “I guess that explains why they get along so well…”
“Indeed. The big boy is Hamlet, by the way.”
Alfred lifted him from the box, grunting from the effort. “No kidding. He’s such a ham.”
“He was named after Shakespeare, you dolt,” Arthur said, rolling his eyes.
“Yeah, and Ham can be his nickname. Shakespeare reference for you, food reference for me.” Alfred grinned as he swung the cat above his head. Hamlet looked completely unbothered. “Who’s a hammy boy? Who’s a good hammy boy?” he cooed.
“Both of you.”
“Arthur!” Alfred lowered Hamlet to face level and turned him around so both he and Alfred stared at Arthur with near-identical blue eyes. “You wound us!”
“I’m sure you’ll both get over it,” Arthur said sweetly. “What’s this one’s name?” he asked, reaching in to offer his hand to the other cat. It had curled down in the box again now that it was alone. Arthur pulled it out to set it onto his lap instead, and set the box on the floor.
“He’s called Dover. No real reason for it, that’s the name he came with at the shelter. I didn’t see the need to change it.” Alfred let Hamlet down completely so the bigger cat could nuzzle to Dover’s face.
“Dover…” Arthur smiled as he lightly ran a hand down Dover’s back. “I like it. Hamlet and Dover. Thank you, Alfred. This has already turned into a perfect holiday.”
“I think you mean purrfect.”
“You nerd.”
“In all seriousness though, thank you too.” Alfred leaned over to wrap Arthur into as much of a side hug as he was able to. “We are both silly, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I love you, Arthur. Merry Christmas.”
Arthur gripped him back tightly. “I love you too, my dearest,” he whispered into Alfred’s shoulder.
They lost track of time simply curled up on the couch together, the two cats purring away on their laps.

I Would Totally Kick Jiraiya’s Butt Chapter 3
A/N: Sorry about the delay! My other fic was at a really good point, so it was all I could think about for a bit! Hopefully I'm going to be able to get a little more of both out, though!
kukukuku~
I gave her a small smile and bowed. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Hinata-chan."
"Hello," she said. "Father said that you protected me from the man who wanted to hurt me."
I licked my lips. "I did do something like that. I probably would've just ended up captured along with you if it wasn't for Hiashi-san, though."
"Father also said that you're going to be my new brother."
I smiled slightly. "I might have agreed to something like that as well."
She smiled. "Now I have two big brothers."
I quizzically tilted my head to the side. "How so?"
"Neji-niisan was already like a big brother to me, even if he's a little mean sometimes. Now I have you too!" She smiled.
I shrugged. "Sure, I guess. So where is Neji-niisan?"
"Right behind you," a young male voice said from take a wild guess direction. "You're Kouki, huh?"
I turned around. "And you're Neji?"
He looked at me with an appraising eye. "Yes. I heard that you have some interesting jutsu."
"Oh, totally!" I told him, then waved a cat-clawed hand. "I mean, I only have three at the moment, but I'm so going to get more!"
"Show me."
I blinked. "Oh, sure. We just need something that nobody's going to mind if I break. Or cut in half. You got anything like that?"
"Ooh, can I see?" Hinata asked me.
I sighed. "I mean, I still need something I can break, but sure."
We managed to get a decent-sized log that I could cut up so long as I did it with adult supervision.
"Alright," Hizashi (Neji's dad, remember?) said to us. "Kouki, be careful. You two stay behind me."
I did some stretches as they got behind him. I then channeled the chakra into my nails. "Cat Claws Jutsu," I said, then charged at the log. I sliced it with both hands and admired the eight deep gouges that I had slashed into it. I then jumped back a bit and formed the seal. "Next, Wind Release: Mini Air Slash!" I slashed at it again. Similar scratches were put in the log, but this time from range.
"Wow!" Hinata said.
"Impressive," Hizashi agreed.
"But wait, there's more!" I said with some enthusiasm. "Wind Release: Dragon Claws Jutsu!" This time, I only used one hand to conserve chakra, but it was still impressive. The downward slash that I used ensured that not only was the log sliced completely through, but I also carved a bit into the ground. "And that's why I'm awesome," I panted as I turned around. It wasn't as bad as before because I hadn't been hemorrhaging chakra thanks to my expensive magical eyes, but I was still drained. Hizashi was nodding, Hinata was beaming with obvious admiration, and Neji gave a look that made me think that he begrudgingly admitted to himself that maybe I'm a little awesome. "Now if you'll excuse me, I really need a nap." I fell backward, making sure to fall properly to not hurt myself, and groaned.
"Are you okay?" Hinata asked.
"M'fine, jus' need a moment," I slurred out.
"I thought your reserves were high enough that you wouldn't be that exhausted," Hizashi commented.
"Why would you think that, father?" Neji asked.
"I'm not that tired, I'm just resting because I used some chakra," I said. "Those jutsu are still pretty draining, just not enough that I won't be able to fight someone my size right now. I could still beat up Neji if I wanted to. Him and Hinata at once might be pushing it, though."
"I could beat you easily," Neji scowled.
"You wanna go, Ice Cream?" I taunted.
"If Father will allow it, then I will soundly beat you."
Hizashi sighed. "Fine, just try not to dismember each other." I got up and entered a fighting stance.
"Your form isn't very good," Neji told me.
"And you're going to activate your-" Neji activated his Byakugan. "Oh, there it goes. You do realize that you're wasting chakra, right?" Neji said nothing and got into his Jūken stance. "Doesn't that hurt?" I asked. "Your veins are bulging like crazy!"
"No, shut up."
"Hajime!" Hizashi said. I rushed at Neji as he charged at me. I caught his forearm before he could hit me with his palm, then used it to push myself down and out of the way of his other strike. I repositioned myself so that I could sweep at his leg, then jumped up and punched at him while he was off-balance. He caught my arm, used it to steady himself, then began hitting my tenketsu. I didn't even bother trying to pull my arm away and instead punched him in the gut. He got the wind knocked out of him and went a few steps back.
I decided to take the opportunity to use Mini Air Slash on him. Unfortunately, my hand had gone numb, so I just did my best to make a one-handed sign and tried to use that. The slashes were a little wobbly, but it ended up not mattering too much when he just ducked under them and smacked me in the stomach. That quickly turned into a combo where I took a bunch of thankfully-not-tenketsu-closing strikes all over me. The next thing I knew, I was groaning on the ground again. "You were both good, but ultimately you left yourself open too much, Kouki," Hizashi said. "You also might want to refrain from letting yourself get hit, even if it's to exploit an opening."
I sat up and shook out my numb hand. Some feeling returned to it and I was able to slowly open and close it. I guess being young and inexperienced with Jūken means that you can only partially disable someone with tenketsu strikes... "Got it."
"You might also want to not taunt your opponent as much. All you did was make Neji angry."
"Blasphemy! I just need to taunt harder!"
"I... sure, fine. If you want, I could help you with your fighting a bit," he offered. He then looked at Neji and Hinata and said, "You two too."
"Thanks," I said, "That's probably a good idea."
kukukuku~
I looked in the mirror inside my room. I decided that I should probably give you guys a better description of my appearance, especially now that I was part of a ninja family and apparently encouraged to have my own unique style... despite the fact that ninja are supposed to blend in. My hair was getting long, almost touching my shoulders. I like my hair long, so I was just going to let it grow until I was either told to get a haircut or it got too annoying. My hair was a dark brown color, but if the light hit it just right it looked brighter and almost reddish sometimes. It curled at the ends, though I've been told that if I didn't comb it as much it'd probably be curlier. Of course, I get really bad bedhead, so that's not really an option. My bangs were combed to the left side of my face, usually just barely out of my left eye, though they sometimes did fall over my eye. As for my clothes, I wore a baggy long-sleeved shirt and pants that were basically sweatpants, both dark blue.
It was actually really similar to my favorite outfit from real life. When not indoors, I wore a pair of comfortable boots instead of the usual sandals. I gave Hiashi an excuse about being leery about wearing open-toed shoes after banging my feet on a lot of things, including more than a few rocks. It wasn't a lie. At all... The look was completed by a pair of cool sunglasses resting on top of my head. The idea was that I'd make a habit of actually putting them over my eyes whenever I'd have to "get serious," which didn't have to include activating my Shōraigan but I'd have to use them to hide my Shōraigan in battle. Plus, my eyes were sensitive enough to light without whatever enhancements are involved in the Shōraigan, so they'd be good when the sunlight's being overly harsh. Thankfully, I was somehow not blinded by reflected light when I tested them out and they didn't show any of the light coming from my eyes somehow. I think that there might have actually been seals placed on it or something... Also! I still had that little bumpy thingy on the top of my left ear! I liked that little bumpy nub thing!
"Kouki-kun!" Hiashi said from outside my room. "We're leaving soon!"
"Coming!" I called out. We were going out to eat at a sushi restaurant to celebrate my adoption and the fact that I saved Hinata's and/or Hizashi's life. Of course, before we went there, we had to make a quick stop at my insistence. I stepped in the clearing right as a tree fell down. I looked at the multiple cuts in the bark. "I see you're starting to figure it out, Naru-chan. Now never use that jutsu unless someone's trying to kill you."
Naruto ran up to me and hugged me (thankfully after deactivating the jutsu). "Kouki! I missed you, 'ttebayo!" Aaaand there was his verbal tic.
I licked my lips. "It was only a day, Naru-chan. I was literally only gone for a day." I thought about what that could mean for a second. "Please tell me nobody was bullying you again."
He released me and put his hands behind his head. "Nah, it was just boring. Why are you back so soon?"
"Well it turns out that getting adopted by a rich guy has its perks." I smirked. "Wanna get rich people food for free and probably have a respected jōnin and clan head yell at anyone who's rude to you?"
"I hope that that isn't all you think of me," Hiashi said from behind me, Hinata hiding behind him.
"Nyahahaha~!" I laughed. "Of course not! You're also free housing and jutsu lessons." He narrowed his eyes at me. "Fine. Also a wonderful father," I faux-reluctantly added. I then brought Naruto over to Hinata. "Naru-chan, this is Hina-chan. Hina-chan, Naru-chan," I introduced the two to each other. "I hope you make friends, you'll be seeing a lot of each other. Tsehehehe~!" Yes I have a second, weirder weird laugh. Shut up.
"Whaddya mean?" he asked, looking a little suspicious.
"She's my new sister and you're literally my only friend," I said. "Now why don't we go get rich people food? I'm starting to get a little hungry."
"Rich people food, 'ttebayo!" Naruto yelled with glee. I smiled.
"R-rich people food..." Hinata muttered, which made me chuckle softly.
Hiashi just sighed. "Yes, rich people food. Please behave yourselves when we get there, though." With that, we left for the restaurant.
kukukuku~
I snickered as I looked at the boy sitting on my right. Naruto had a really confused look on his face and I really couldn't blame him. Didn't mean I wasn't internally howling with laughter, though. He looked at my new father and his wife, now sitting across the table from him at the restaurant. He then looked at my new uncle and his wife, sitting next to Hiashi and... apparently her name was Hikari. By the way, for those of you who don't know what Hikari looks like due to her appearing in the Naruto literally once and only in a photo, she looks like an older Hinata but without the Byakugan. She gave Naruto a warm, kind smile, which was the only expression I'd ever seen on her face ever. Hizashi's wife, Hikaru, did the same. Hiashi and Hizashi were just barely containing their laughter, and even Neji, who I could see on my left even with Hinata between us, had a small grin. Naruto leaned over to me and whispered, "Kouki, I think your parents are ninja. They're using clones." With that, everyone but Naruto burst out into either laughter or small giggling (Neji was giggling and it was hilarious).
"We're not clones, Naruto-kun," Hikaru said. "I'm Kouki-kun's aunt." She gestured at Hikari. "My twin sister married Kouki's father. I, myself, married his twin brother."
Naruto furrowed his brow. "So you," he pointed at Hikaru," and you," he pointed at Hikari, "are twins, which is why you look so similar. And you married two people who are also twins and also identical."
"Yes, that's right, Naruto-kun," Hikaru warmly smiled at him.
"Neji-chan and Hina-chan might as well be brother and sister," I commented with a little laugh.
A waiter cleared his throat. "May I get you anything to drink?" he asked.
"A green tea for me and my wife," Hiashi and Hizashi immediately responded. They looked at each other for a second, then grinned.
"Tea for me as well," Neji told him.
"U-uh, can I have some apple juice, please," Hinata asked.
"Juice too," I said. The waiter nodded and started to leave.
"Hey, you didn't take my order, 'ttebayo!" Naruto yelled. The waiter scoffed and continued to walk away.
"Excuse me," Hiashi said as he stood up. "You forgot to get Naruto-kun's order.
"Why that riffraff is with you, I could never tell," he haughtily said. Hiashi glared at him. "Fine, fine. What do you want, boy?"
Naruto flinched a little, then said, "A-apple juice, please." I growled at the waiter, which sounded a bit deeper than I thought it would. For some reason, that made him flinch. He hurried off, apologizing.
Hizashi blinked. "Apparently your irises turn red when you get angry, Kouki-kun. That's... odd."
"Really?" I asked, then licked my lips creepily. "That is weird. Not bad, just... weird." As we were waiting for our drinks, we looked through the menu. "What am I allowed to get," I asked.
"You can get anything you want," Hiashi told me. "Though I would advise ordering less than Hinata. Same for you, Naruto-kun."
"Why less than Hinata-chan?" Naruto asked. Just then, a waitress came up to our table with our drinks.
"We're so sorry about the previous waiter," she told us. "He was... uh..." She looked at Naruto. "He was... greatly affected by the death of his wife three years ago. Still, he should never have acted that way to any guest of yours. "
"If you wish to apologize, do it to Naruto-kun," Hiashi said.
"So sorry," she told Naruto, then gave him his drink. "After your meal, we will be giving you a free dessert, on the house." She gave the rest of us our drinks. "What would you like to eat?" she asked us. It was at that point that Naruto's question was answered. Hinata ordered three dishes of sushi for herself. which was a lot. Even the adults only had one.
After we had all finished ordering our sushi, I said, "See, Naru-chan? Father stood up for you and you got free food. Did I keep my promise or what?" Naruto chuckled a little. After a little while and some small talk and chopstick-using lessons for me and Naruto (I already knew, but it'd have looked suspicious if I said that seeing as Naruto didn't), our food arrived. I will say this: Konohagakure sushi is way better than Walgreen's sushi. When in my sushi-induced rapture, I was vaguely aware of Hiashi asking me if I liked it, and then my head lazily bobbing up and down. Also, while I might have just been hallucinating in my sushi haze, I thought I saw sparkles. Unfortunately, though, all good things must come to an end. In this case, that end was that when I started chewing on one of my pieces of sushi, I felt a burning feeling and awful taste on my tongue. I gagged as I felt myself start to feel a little like puking, then swallowed the sushi. I looked down at my plate and saw that the sushi that I'd eaten was right next to the wasabi. I glared at the wasabi.
Hikari chuckled. "That's wasabi, Kouki-kun. It's fine if you don't like it." She gave Hiashi an amused look, and he rolled his eyes.
"I gag on sushi with wasabi on it one time and I never live it down," he muttered, though he sounded more amused than annoyed.
"I don't like wasabi," I confirmed. Wasabi is horrible. Truly the worst thing. "It tastes weird." I noticed that my last piece of sushi was also touching wasabi. "Does anyone here who likes wasabi wanna trade with me?" I asked. Hinata immediately placed one of her sushi on my plate and took the tainted sushi with her chopsticks. I looked over to her plates and noticed that she was somehow already done with all of her sushi. "Uhh-" I started to say.
"No, we don't know how Hinata-chan eats that much," Hiashi preempted, which made Hinata blush slightly. "All we know is that she somehow can without it being unhealthy."
I nodded. I remembered jokes in the anime about Hinata eating a LOT, so that made sense. "Okay..."
We continued to make small talk until the waitress came back. "Would any of you like dessert?" she asked. "Keep in mind that Uzumaki-san's dessert will be on the house."
Naruto looked at the dessert menu and immediately said, "Dorayaki," which was the first thing on the menu. I looked at Hiashi with my special Puppy Dog Eyes(TM).
"This is a celebration for your adoption and Hinata-chan's birthday," Hiashi told me. "Don't worry about it, you can get a dessert."
"Chocolate-strawberry crepe, please," I said.
"C-could I have the cinnamon bun?" Hinata asked. Cinnamon bun for the cinnamon bun. Got it. Hiashi nodded.
"If it is fine for me to get a dessert as well, then I would like to try the coffee jelly," Neji added stiffly. The waitress left with our orders.
Hiashi cleared his throat. "I'd like to say something. Hizashi and Neji-kun, I want to apologize to you two for the fact that the two of you have been given the Caged Bird Seal."
"But it was tradition," Hizashi said, "and we were children when I was given my seal."
"I was still the cause of you getting your seal. And as for Neji-kun, I allowed it. It has come to my attention recently that the Caged Bird Seal is an imperfect means of protecting our bloodline and causes more grief than it does peace. Because of that, I, as the head of the Hyūga clan, would like to apologize to the two of you." He bowed his head. "I shall do my best to... make things better for the branch house in the future."
"Thank you, for that," Hizashi said. "I apologize for the attitude that I used to have towards you."
Hiashi shook his head. "It was perfectly understandable, there is no reason to apologize."
Naruto leaned over to me again. "So do you know what's going on here? Because I'm totally lost, 'ttebayo."
"Don't worry about it," I told him. "It's a Hyūga thing."
"Your desserts are here," the waitress said as she arrived with... well... I really shouldn't have to say. She handed us our desserts. I inspected mine. A crepe with whipped cream, chocolate, and strawberries in it. It certainly looked and smelled delicious. I took a bite.
(⊙_⊙) (❀‿❀) (◐ o ◑ ) (ღ˘◡˘ღ)ヽ(^◇^*)/ (ʃƪ˘ڡ˘)
"That... was beautiful," I said, on the verge of tears. I blinked, and my eyes felt really irritated. "Was I... crying?"
"How were you sparkling like that?" Neji asked, bewildered.
I thought about that for a second, then shrugged and made that "I don't know" noise. I took another bite of my crepe. It was freaking amazing. "This is probably the most delicious thing I've ever had." I really like sweet food.
"Mine's pretty good too," Hinata muttered.
"I'm glad you like it," Hikari said. "It's certainly nice to see you happy, considering where you were. How is yours, Naruto-chan?"
"It's great, 'ttebayo!" he exclaimed. "I haven't had dessert before, and this stuff is so good!"
I smiled slightly. "It's good to see you having fun, Naru-chan," I said.
kukukuku~
I stared at the grey-haired boy before me. "Hatake Kakashi," I said.
"That's me, kid," he confirmed. "I owe your father one, so he told me to teach you some ninjutsu. He told me what you can do already, so don't worry about that."
I nodded. "What first?"
"Seeing as you can already do the tree-climbing and water-walking jutsu, I feel like I should teach you the academy three, then see where we go from there. The academy three are three jutsu taught in the academy, as you might be able to guess. First, the clone jutsu. It lets you create a construct made of your chakra that looks and acts exactly like you. While it can't use jutsu and is destroyed the moment it touches something, it's a lot more useful than people give it credit, given the fact that it can be used as a distraction. These are the hand seals needed to use it." He demonstrated. "And then you push out some chakra to create the clone." There was a small pop and a second Kakashi appeared next to him. "It should just come out naturally when you use the seals, but you need to get the amount down right or the clone will look off. Now you try."
I licked my lips and shakily made the seals, sticking my tongue out slightly in concentration. I actually found it a little awkward to switch between the complex hand positions, but I was able to do it. I used what felt like an appropriate amount of chakra, but my clone ended up looking a little sick once the smoke cleared. Kakashi did that weird thing where you can tell he's smiling even though his mouth is covered. "That's actually really good for a first-timer. Your hand seals need some work, but that's nothing to be too worried about. Now, let's move on to the next jutsu."
kukukuku~
It was the evening, after Kakashi finished teaching me the academy three and making sure I could use them decently. "The thing that he needs to work on the most is his hand seals," Kakashi told Hiashi. "His chakra reserves are very good for someone of his age and he has decent control. He might be ready to begin proper elemental training sometime within the next year if he gets his reserves up a bit more."
"Good. Thank you for this, Kakashi-san," Hiashi said.
"Don't mention it. Now, is there anything else I should teach him?"
"If you could see about get him started on genjutsu, too, that would be good."
I focused on something else, and my vision shifted. I saw the Council of the Five Kage, Danzō's death, Naruto's talk with Kushina, Naruto taking the Kyuubi's chakra, and parts of the Fourth Shinobi War, fading out around when Naruto fought Nagato with Itachi. "So that's everything that writer!Me has seen since I got here," I muttered. I deactivated my eyes and then opened them, taking in the sight of my empty room once more. There wasn't much there yet, just the mirror that I'd used earlier, a bookshelf, a dresser, and my bed. There were enough windows that it was well-ventilated, which was very good for my (admittedly very minor) indoor allergy. The bed, which I was sitting on at the moment, was really comfortable, which was nice. The sheets and pillows were also really soft, which is why I was currently rubbing my face in them. There was an equally soft plush cat sitting right next to me, which I had only had to accidentally look at Hikari with Puppy Dog Eyes(TM) for about a second after seeing it in the shop before she caved and bought it for me. I chuckled, then sat up.
"It's kind of funny how I've already gotten rid of one of Kabuto's minions without even meaning to or knowing about, isn't it Fluffy-san?" Yes, I named the cat Fluffy-san. He was fluffy. Though he actually reminded me of Kyubey (from Madoka Magica, not Naru-chan's stomach). "Heck, I might have gotten rid of two, if that one guy was also one of the Edo Tensei zombies. Maybe I should start doing something about the rest... What do you think, Fluffy-san?" I grabbed Fluffy-san's head and made it bob up and down while saying, "EAT THEIR SOULS!" so that it sounded like Fluffy-san said it. For some reason, my voice sounded really demonic when I did that, even to me. "That's what you always say," I told him.
"Edo Tensei needs their souls, nya," Fluffy-san "said."
"True, but how am I going to eat their souls? I'm pretty sure those things give me indigestion."
"That sounds like a 'you' problem, nya."
I frowned at him. "You're kind of a jerk, Fluffy-san."
"That also sounds like a 'you' problem, nya."
I was actually really having fun with this. I fake-pouted. "Fiiiiine, I guess I'll just write down all the stuff I know and show it to Sarutobi..." I was about to get up to get the journal on my dresser that Hiashi had gotten me for my secret advisor duties, then stopped. "I've been meaning to do this... Hopefully I'm right about it." I placed my two index fingers together, then flowed a small amount of chakra through them. I bonded the two streams together, then pulled my fingers apart, making the chakra thin out until it was a barely-visible thread of chakra. I examined how it felt, then let it go. If tiny Sasori could do it, then I was confident tiny me could. I made a few attempts at it that didn't work quite right before finally recreating it without the weird pull-apart thing. I licked my lips. "Sweet." I tested out my new puppetry powers on Fluffy-san. It took me a few tries to stick it in him, but I got it eventually and it felt great.
"Didn't someone else do that first, nya?" I had him ask me.
"Yeah, but it's a power with so many uses and Suna just uses it for puppets. Puppets and literally nothing else. It's such a waste of a cool power and there are only two times that I know of that someone did something else with it that wasn't puppetry, and one of them used it to enhance her puppet-fighting! Now stop guilting me."
"You do realize that I'm literally just a puppet, right, nya?"
I gasped. "Oh no! I'm succumbing to Sunagakure Puppet Syndrome! I must use my new jutsu for something other than playing with killer dolls!" I shot chakra threads at the book, then reeled it in. "Yoink!" I said as I grabbed it.
"Why are you like this?" Neji asked me.
"NYAH!" I jumped so hard I almost fell off my bed. "Neji! How long have you been here?"
He rolled his eyes. "When you started trying to pick up your toy."
"My name is Fluffy-san, nya."
"What?"
"His name is Fluffy-san," I said as if he was the weird one. "Nya."
He gave me a bewildered look, before sighing and giving up. "You know what, nevermind. Hiashi-sama wanted me to check up on you."
I gave him a thumbs-up. "I'm fine, how about you?"
"I'm doing well. Thank you for asking. I'm going to go to bed now. Good night."
"Good night!"
kukukuku~
A/N: Shout out to Vapors by electrasev5n. I liked it. Someone finally used chakra threads for something aside from puppets. Seriously, why didn't any ninja do anything like some sort of Wind Release cutting wire jutsu? That would be so cool! Also Vapors was funny and made me laugh at several moments (Kakashi is a pretty pretty princess).
Right, so hopefully I'm doing a good job with this. I don't know if it's the best job, but it's at least good, right? Remember that, as always, I am very open to constructive criticism, so please criticize me constructively. Please.

Southern Strip Tease
Pairings: Chibs x Reader
Warnings: Swearing, one night stand, stripper reader.
Word Count: 2,019
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
‘This ain’t my room.’ You thought to yourself as your eyes looked around the unfamiliar room. ‘This also ain’t my arm.’ You though as you looked down at the dead weight that was draped across your stomach. You looked over at the man that belonged to the arm and pursed your lips. ‘Not bad.’ You wanted to kick yourself for being a one night stand but from what you could remember it was totally worth it. Though typically, you didn’t spend the night.
‘This is why I can’t have nice things.’ As gently as you could to not awake your bed mate, you lifted up his arm and scooted off the bed; laying it back down gently behind you. You scrambled to collect your clothes but paused when your eyes landed on the giant Reaper patch on the back of a leather kutte.
“Shit.” You whispered as you quietly threw your clothes on in an attempt to get out the door quickly undetected.
“Leavin' so soon?” You turned back around and looked at the stunning man laying in bed with a smile. You were just reminded why he was able to convince you to stay; you had a soft spot for that Scottish accent. Any accent, really other than the southern one you heard from your own mouth every day.
“Does that hurt you’re feelings, love?” Chibs chuckled, despite the fact that you were mocking his pet name of choice for the night, as he sat up in bed.
“Not’a t’all, baby.” You rolled your eyes as you grabbed your bag.
“See ya ‘round.” You opened the door to a long hallway and almost ran into another man with curly black hair.
“You got a set of lungs on ya, girl.” He said as he continued down the hall with a laugh. You groaned as you followed him out into the SAMCRO club house. A few guys who were sitting around the room began to slow clap as you walked through the room.
“Mind your own biscuits.” You snapped as you headed for the door.
“Listen to that accent; Chibs got lucky with that one.” One of the guys said. You groaned as you pushed open the door, hissing at the bright sunlight and practically running to your Jeep.
“I’m never listenin’ to Lyla again.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Fancy seein’ ye ‘ere, love.” You looked over the counter at the all too familiar voice from a few hours before and smiled.
“Well butter my butt and call me a biscuit. Found me faster than a knife fight in a phone booth.” Chibs laughed as you stood up from behind the counter of the tiny diner you waitressed at on the out skirts of Charming.
“Well there’s somethin’ you don’t ‘ere every day.” You shrugged as he took a seat at the bar.
“I’m from the south, sugar. I got sayin’s like the day is long. What can I get ya?”
“Coffee, black.” You nodded and grabbed a mug from behind the counter with one hand and the coffee pot with the other. “Ye ran out rather quickly this mornin’.” You nodded as you poured his coffee with a smile.
“You’re barking up the wrong tree if you thought I was the kinda girl to stick around after a night with Jack.”
“Not even if I wanted ta get ta know ya more.” You smiled and shook your head.
“Darlin’ there ain’t much to get to know. I’m from Tennessee and work two jobs to pay my bills. My life is busier than a one legged cat in a sandbox.” He chuckled as he took a sip of coffee.
“What if I could help ye with that?” You smiled as you looked around the dead restaurant.
“You ain’t even know me.”
“Aye, but I would really like ta get ta know ye.” You shrugged as you leaned back against the counter.
“You can try. I ain’t gunna make it easy on ya.” He laughed as he downed the last of his coffee.
“What’s yer other job?” You licked your bottom lip and shrugged as he tossed a twenty on the counter.
“Guess you’ll just have ta figure it out.” He smirked as he turned around and headed out the door.
“That a dare?” He called out and you laughed.
“It’s a double dare.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Hey, (Y/N)… cute guy out front, requesting you personally. By your real name.” You looked over at your co-worker Shannon, who everyone at your job knew as Sandy and your brow furrowed.
“Who is it?” She shrugged as she headed out of your room.
“I put him in two.” You nodded as your stomach twisted into knots. No one here knew your real name; every one of your regulars at the strip club knew you as Scarlett. With one last look in the mirror, you got up and headed down the back hall to room two.
‘Please don’t be someone creepy…’ You thought as you pushed open the door. Your worried face dropped almost instantly as you saw Chibs.
“Well I’ll be damned. Took ya a while.” He laughed as he leaned back against the couch seat.
“Lyla didn’t want to give up yer other job. Took a lot of bribing and some good, ol’fashion back door sleuthing.” You laughed as you stepped into the room.
“Told ya I wasn’t fixin to make it easy. Called her the minute you left the diner.” He tilted his head toward you as you stepped up on the platform.
“None of that, love. I came ta get ta know ya.” You cocked your eyebrow as you spun lazily around the pole.
“What part of ‘not makin’ that easy’ did you miss?” You smiled as you rested your back against the pole. Teasingly, you slid down it slowly and sexually. You watched him swallow hard as he shifted ever so slightly in his spot and his eyes wandered down your body.
“Aye, yer doin’ a damn good job at that.” You giggled as you dragged your fingers up the inside of your thigh.
“And I plan on keepin’ it up…” You dragged your fingers up your body and unsnapped the snap between your breasts. “So… what did ya wanna know?” You stood back up slowly, letting your top fall off your body. Chibs let out a low moan as he watched you drag your fingertips across your breast.
“E-everythin’.” You smiled as he palmed at his crotched and shifted in his seat once again. His cock was already straining against his jeans and you let out a breathy moan as you remembered how amazing it felt buried inside you.
“Like I said… ain’t much to know.” You spun around the back of the pole and grabbed it with one hand. Very slowly you leaned back into a back bend. “I’m just a simple southern girl.” You ran your hand down your stomach and down over your panties. You let your eyes close for a second and your mouth fell open as you ran your palm over your wet core. With a knowing smirk, you opened your eyes as he groaned again and you pulled yourself up-right.
“Has ta be more’n that, love.” You shook your head as you grabbed the pole with both hands. You swung your body upside down and grabbed the pole with the back of your knee.
“Nope. Ain’t much else.” You looked at him as you put your hands on the ground below your head and arched your back away from the metal. You held yourself up in a handstand for a moment as you let your legs fall into a split. You used all of your strength to lower yourself back down, giving him a full view of your wet panties.
“Jesus Christ.” He grabbed you around the waist and lifted you off the platform and onto his lap. You quickly spun around; throwing one leg over his head to straddle him, and grabbed his wrists to stop him.
“Nuh uh… no touching. There are rules here.” You laced your fingers with his and held them above his head as you got up on your knees still straddling him. “Thought you wanted to get to know me anyways, sweetheart.” He groaned as you slowly ground your hips against his. His eyes rolled back in his head as you pressed your bare chest against his.
“Love… yer killin’ me.” You leaned forward as lightly rubbed your cheek against his. You dragged the tip of your tongue against the shell of his ear and he gripped your hands tightly in his.
“That’s my job.” He shook his head and pulled his hands out of yours.
“Not anymore. Yer mine.” He gripped your hips tight as he crashed his lips to yours. Your gasp was lost in his mouth as his tongue battled yours for dominance. Your hands tangled in his hair and you pulled, drawing a groan from the back of his throat.
“Make me yours then.” He chuckled darkly as he pulled your hips against him; his own thrusting up to meet yours.
“Oh, lass. I plan on it.” He dropped his hand to his zipper and he pulled his impressive length out. You moaned as he reached down and ripped your panties out of the way.
“Chibs…” You gasped as he teased your folds with his cock. He shook his head where he was kissing your throat.
“Filip.” You nodded as you sat up; needing to feel him inside of you.
“Filip… please.” He lined himself up and you immediately sunk down; taking him completely and letting him stretch you out perfectly.
“Fuck, yer so tight.” You grabbed the back of his kutte in your fists as you rolled your hips slowly.
“God, you’re perfect.” You crashed your lips to his as he grabbed your hips; dragging you down his length. You had to force yourself to stay quiet; reminding yourself that you were technically in public. Sweat began to bead on your skin as you rolled faster and harder on his cock; the button on his jeans rubbing your clit deliciously with every pass. He moved his hands so one was on your lower back and one was on your shoulder as he stood up and laid you down on the couch.
“Yer mine.” He demanded as he began a bruising pace; chasing his orgasm as he rested his forehead against yours. He gripped your hip tight and you nodded as your coil tightened; your walls clenching around him. “Say it!” He growled.
“I’m yours!” You shouted as you flew over the edge; arching your back into his chest as stars danced in the white light behind your eyelids. His hand tangled in your hair as he thrust into you twice more and came; painting your walls with his release. He groaned into your neck as you clung to him, panting as you rode out your high on his now lazy thrusts. You ran your fingers through his hair, tracing a scar on the back of his head as he gently kissed your neck and shoulder. Once he caught his breath, he leaned back slightly and gave you a chaste kiss.
“Go get dressed, love. I’ll take care of ye now.” You nodded as he got up and tucked himself away. You picked up your top off the platform and looked down at the destroyed panties that hung at your hips.
“Had to rip ‘em, didn’t ya.” He laughed and shrugged as he took off his kutte.
“Not my fault yer so damn irresistible.” He unzipped his brown leather jacket and took it off. He held it up to you to put on. You put your top on the couch next to him, turned around and slid your arms through the sleeves. With a smile, you zipped it up and shrugged as you looked down; it came down to mid thigh.
“That’ll work too.” He smiled as he stood up and kissed the tip of your nose.
“Let them know ye aren’t coming back. I won’t have my girl strippin’ for anyone but me.”
Project Phoenix Chapter 6
The Attic
The Manifestation || The Power Play || The Green-Eyed Fly || The Middle of The Night || The Alternative
Summary: Kate’s a normal teenage Midgardian girl; except there’s a Loki in her attic, and now S.H.I.E.L.D.’s after her, and also, she has powers. Apparently, she’s meant to save the world.
She just wanted to finish school and maybe fall in love—at least she’s accomplishing one of those.
Relationships: Gen, F/M (Loki/Original Female Character)
Rating: M (Graphic Depictions of Violence, Underage if you squint bit—nothing occurs while characters are underage, Sexual Content)
Mood: Impossible, Unleashed
Tumblr media
The shower water turned off. Loki’s breath was heavy. I request a towel. His voice was solemn as he spoke through Kate’s thoughts. Kate could have sworn she heard his voice crack the slightest bit. She didn’t even know mental-voices could crack.
Now, mortal! He barked.
Kate startled. She stood up and grabbed the navy towel and handed it to Loki through the curtain. Normally, she would have fought back, but she was too… she couldn’t describe the sensation. The pain she had felt, it was gone now, but now she was empty. She tried to recall the way her chest had ached but she couldn’t. The emotion was lost.
The navy towel was thrown out on the other side of the shower, and it landed on the side of Kate’s face. It smelled strange. It wasn’t like any musk she had smelled before—not that she had smelled many, she lived with two brothers and her father, and two of them used the same deodorant, the third not actually wearing it. His musk smelled a lot like a body wash in the shower mixed with the way her cat smelled after he’d gone outside and walked around the pine trees, with something else beneath it she couldn’t quite place. Kate liked it.
She took the towel off of her head and grabbed a washcloth on the sink. She proceeded to run it under the warm water until it was dripping wet then squeeze it into her hair. By the time she was done, her hair was wet enough to have just gotten out of the shower.
Loki stepped out of the tub in a fresh set of clothes and snapped his dirty ones away. How he had done it exactly, Kate did not question. Is there anywhere I may speak freely, without the others overhearing?
Kate’s eyes trailed to the floor. The walls of the house were thin, someone could always hear you one way or another. “I guess the attic, but I want to get something to eat first. Do you want anything?”
I can transport food for myself from Asgard. You do not have to provide for me.
Kate blinked a couple times, trying desperately to meet Loki’s gaze. She couldn’t. It made her feel too vulnerable.
She nodded. “Alright… I guess hide somewhere until I come back? I dunno, um, just don’t let people see you, and don’t die, I guess.”
Loki rolled his eyes. I would have never thought to do that. Even after revealing his deepest, most personal memories, his tongue was still sharp.
Kate stuck her tongue out and walked away. Her pace was a stroll, giving her time to think before having to talk to the man in green.
In some other timeline, she had known Loki. She had known Loki personally. Very personally. If she had the ability to look back on the memory, she would try to notice the smaller details. But she hadn’t paid attention to them, and she couldn’t recall if they were there in the first place.
Kate could feel Loki’s conscious brushing against her’s. She blinked slowly. Whatever, he can read my thoughts if he wants. She thought as she walked down the stairs. Only afterward did she realize he probably could hear it.
Kate smiled as the family cat meowed at her and she meowed back. “Hello, pretty kitty.” She sat down and stroked the cat’s soft fur. She picked up her cat and settled the tortoiseshell in her lap. “What should I do, Mars?”
Mars meowed again and jumped free, scampering after Jake. Kate pursed her lips. She traveled through the morning’s memories and paused. Her eyebrows furrowed and her eyes narrowed. ‘Do not shut me out, illr slápr!’ is what Loki had said. She could only assume ‘illr slápr’ was something Norse. She’d have to ask him about it.
Her grumbling stomach interrupted her thoughts, and she got up and made herself some toast and coffee. She added cream and sugar then ate the toast slowly. Stop being selfish and go!
How is it selfish to want someone to survive? Kate supposed she needed more information. Maybe she would ask Loki. Or maybe he would grow callous, as he had right after she had called his name. Kate wondered if he had relived the memory as she experienced it.
Loki must have lived through so much within his extended lifetime. Kate wanted to hear stories of epic battles and adrenaline-rushed adventures; she wanted to imagine the sparkling gold of the palaces and she wanted to at least picture Loki’s children, if not see them from his memories.
Kate chuckled. Loki parenting was hilarious. She could just imagine it in her head.
“No! Go to bed!” Loki’s slender finger pointed at the stall door.
“But Mom!” Sleipnir whined.
Kate realized the eight-legged horse probably wouldn’t talk. She replayed the scene in her head.
“No! Go to bed!” Loki’s slender finger pointed at the stall door.
The black horse rose onto his four back legs and whinnied loudly. Lightning crackled behind him threateningly.
Thankfully, there was no Uncle Thunder following the lightning. He only made the whole bedtime process more difficult. “Colts,” Loki grumbled.
Sleipnir did not want to go to bed. The older horses were allowed up late, and they only had four legs. He huffed in Loki’s face and rustled the raven locks, messed up hours ago by lack of care, too much fatigue, and the horse himself.
Along with his hair’s decency, Loki’s patience was coming to its death. “Get in your stall right now, or you will have no molasses tomorrow.”
That only made Sleipnir angrier. He loved his molasses. He wanted to stay up and have his molasses. How hard could that be for Loki to understand?
“Three!”
No. Not the countdown. Sleipnir didn’t know what would happen after one, but he didn’t want to find out.
“Two!”
His forelock fell in his eyes as he scrambled towards his stall. Just as Loki opened his mouth to say ‘one,’ the hay settled. Thankfully, he didn’t kick over his water trough this time. The last time that had happened, it resulted in no molasses for the next two days, and he had to go the whole night without water as punishment.
“Thank the Norns!” Loki shouted and left the stables after locking the stall.
Her toast had gone cold by the time the scene faded into her memories. Kate was smiling and hummed to herself as she sat down on the floor and pulled the nearby Jake into her lap. He craned his neck and licked her chin as she scratched his chest and laughed. “Good morning, buddy.” She looked down into his big brown eyes. “What do you think?”
The dog replied with a wag of his tail. Kate closed her eyes and focused. She tried to outstretch her thoughts to feel others, brushing against the entire room and feeling Jake’s relatively quickly. He put up no barriers and Kate could feel love washing over him and tumbling into her conscious. She smiled and did her best to ignore the beginning of a headache, popping a couple of ibuprofen and finishing her coffee. “You’re right, Jake.”
Kate stood up and placed her mug in the dishwasher. She had to do her best to show Loki compassion. Plus, she wanted answers about her apparent “powers.” It was a win-win situation.
Kate walked up the steps. A moth fluttered over and landed on her shoulder. Kate shuddered. She hated moths.
Loki probably knew that.
“Really?” she said through gritted teeth and she walked into the spare room where the stairs up to the attic sat.
Kate briefly leaned out of the doorway. “I’ll be in the attic if you need me!”
When she got the okay from someone, she went into the humid attic and sat down. The moth fluttered off of her shoulder and landed. It transformed magically into Loki, who promptly hit his head on the ceiling. He grunted and sat down, an orange fruit appearing in his hand. At first, Kate thought it was just an orange, but the smell that wafted over told her otherwise.
They sat in awkward silence. Neither knew where to start.
“What does ‘illr slápr’ mean?” Kate asked. It wasn’t the most on-topic question within existence, but it was a start.
Loki looked startled at first, though realized what she meant. “To put it simply, illr means ‘unpleasant’ in my mother tongue, slápr is an insult.”
“What kind of insult?”
Loki scoffed. “I highly doubt you would understand it.”
Kate raised her eyebrows. “Really?”
Loki looked at her. “Really. Especially with a limited and mortal mind, such as your own.”
“Wanna bet? Challenge me, and we’ll see just how limited I am.”
Loki took a bite of his fruit, the smell wafting over to Kate even stronger than before. “Very well, figure out the phrase.”
“What phrase?”
“Slápr, mortal. If you’re so smart, you must certainly be able to figure it out.”
Kate sputtered. Her hands became fists. “That’s not fair!”
Loki leaned forward the slightest bit, his green eyes glinting. “Well, then I apologize. I thought you would be smart enough to figure out something as simple as a word.”
Kate’s face scrunched up as she tried to look angry. She was almost positive she and Loki both knew she was smiling. “Fine! It means stupid!”
Loki leaned back and took another bite. “Well, now why would I call you ‘bad stupid’? That’s doesn’t make sense.”
Kate was mentally torn at the hint. Yes, it brought her closer to the answer, but she hadn’t done it all herself. She shifted on the plywood floors, her eyes trailing to the floor in actual thought. So it’s a noun…
“Idiot?”
“No.”
“Dumb-butt?”
“What kind of insult is that?”
“One I can say in front of my mom.”
Loki struggled not to choke on the piece of food in his mouth as he let out a guffaw.
“What?” Kate exclaimed. It hadn’t been a comment she found profoundly hilarious or even remotely funny. In fact, more often than not her jokes and one-liners weren’t funny to anyone.
“I had forgotten how innocent you could be, child,” Loki said with a nod.
Kate scoffed. “I’m an iGen kid. I’m the opposite of innocent.”
Loki leaned back against a decorative chest. “And yet you didn’t know what the phrase ‘do it’ meant until 6th grade.”
Kate raised part of her lip in an annoyed snarl. “I was sheltered. Does it mean slugabed?”
“What in the Nine is a slugabed?”
Kate cocked her eyebrow. A smile crept at the edges her mouth, but she held it back. “Well, if you’re so smart, figure it out.”
Loki hummed, air exiting his nose with a slight laugh. “You think you’re hilarious.”
Kate crossed her arms. She eyed the fruit. “Why, yes I think I am. I crack myself up.”
Kate then realized how bad the two of them were at staying on topic. This had nothing to do with what Loki was doing here, the past, the different timelines, or anything remotely similar to any of those. She didn’t necessarily mind that all that much, but her need to know was stronger than her enjoyment of the conversation. “But seriously, we do need to talk about, well, a lot.”
Loki’s eyes flickered, and he flinched the slightest bit. Kate didn’t expect him to be so…vulnerable. She had always seen Loki as strong, independent, and unbreakable. She wasn’t sure she liked him showing this much emotion. He was too comfortable for her liking. She shouldn’t have told him he could tell her anything. Of course, she would still take anyone’s secrets to her grave, but she felt so uncomfortable around this man. His comfort made it all the more awkward.
“Where shall we start?”
Kate blinked a couple times. Her eyes trailed down as she stared off into nothing. She stared off into nothing specific, but Loki pulled the fruit slightly closer to himself. When Kate realized what he was doing, her eyes narrowed and her eyebrows furrowed.
She seemed to be making that face a lot.
“Chill—I’m not going to take your fruit, whatever it is.”
Loki’s defenses rose up instantly. “I didn’t think you were going to.”
“Yeah, sure,” she replied with an eye roll. “Start from the time after her—or I guess my—death. Is that too touchy of a topic?”
“Your topic of choice is fine, mortal. If it were too difficult, I would not have told you.”
Loki stopped. He seemed to be expecting a reply, but Kate stayed silent.
“I mourned, just as all of Asgard did. You were treated as a hero and if the topic if you came up in conversation, it was treated as though one was speaking of an Asgardian princess. S.H.I.E.L.D. met us on earth, and the Asgardians were given a place to live. It was a small man-made island created by Tony Stark and his endless amounts of Midgardian currency.”
“How did you travel back in time?”
“One day I was approached by a strange woman with markings on her skin. She was known by few as Ævi Völva, Time Sorceress. She requested I give her the Eye of Agamotto. The man who goes by Doctor Strange, he is in possession of the infinite stone of Time, encased in this said eye. With it, she could reverse time to an extent and give me another chance.”
Kate sat forward. “Why didn’t you just go back to the moment I died and prevent it?”
“Time is a strange thing, Katherine.” Loki finished his fruit and waved a bowl of water and cloth into existence. He began to wash his hands, briefly wiping water across his forehead to stave off the humidity of the attic. “It is like the water—It prefers to stay on track and will even forge its own path to reach its destination. Time is similar, and it takes quite a bit of magic and altering of timelines in order to properly affect the outcome. This is the nearest I can travel to the time of your death to change anything cataclysmicly.”
Kate was silent as she took in the information. Her not being alive must have caused some sort of huge tragedy if Loki was so intent upon keeping her alive. “Why is my life so necessary for the future?”
“I cannot tell you. Telling you your fate may alter it, even to the point of altering the course of time.” Loki dried his hand and waved the bowl and towel away.
Kate sat marveling. Poof, they were there; then, poof, they were gone. Her reply came slowly, just a few moments beyond comfortable in a conversation. “Isn’t that what you want?”
“No, it might cause you to never discover your powers, or for specific traits of your being to never surface. Having you mature is as important as having you eat, drink, and breathe.”
“Alright, well, what happened in the second timeline?”
“I was still figuring things out at that point, so I kept most of the timeline the same. Up until Ragnarök, most memorable things still occurred. Instead of meeting death like the first time, you were eaten by a dragon.”
What a way to go. “Dope.”
Loki’s face screwed up. “No! Not ‘dope!’ You died, Katherine. You’re life ended.”
Kate waved off his exclamation. “I’m a teenager of the twenty-first century. I care very little about my life. Besides, if I die, I’ll go to heaven, which is infinitely better than earth according to the bible.”
Loki stared. “I never understood why you believed in a simple book. It is words written on a page, there’s no real proof.”
Kate’s eyebrows rose, almost to the middle of her forehead. “Well, first of all, the truth doesn’t expire; second of all, there’s geological proof.”
“Exactly what proof is that?"
“There’s one story, about a couple of cities called Sodom and Gomorrah. An angel told a family to leave and never look back. They fled, and the mother looked back. She turned to ash or dust, or salt--yeah! It was salt! Anyway, not long after, sulfur rained down upon that area and covered it. It burned. If you look at where Sodom and Gomorrah were geographically, the area still has tons of sulfur in it.”
Loki shrugged. “I tend not to believe you. You do realize that a god sits right in front of you, or are you blind?”
“God is everywhere, so I suppose he is.” Kate’s voice was slyly sweet.
Loki gritted his teeth. “That is not what I meant, mortal.”
She smiled smugly. “I know.” She repositioned her legs, stretching herself out in order to accommodate for her long legs. “Besides, you are not a god. God lives forever, without a beginning or an end.”
Kate could tell Loki’s minor annoyance. “I am without a beginning or an end.”
Her head tilted, and she smiled. “You have parents and a birthday. That is a beginning. You will have a death date. In your case, it will most likely be Ragnarok. That is an end. Even if you live—” Kate froze in thought. She drew little invisible numbers in the air and sat calculating for a few minutes “—62.5 times the average human lifespan, that isn’t immortality, just an extended lifespan.”
Kate could tell she had facts Loki didn’t know, most likely because he didn’t care. “This is all besides the point. As you said, we need to stay on track.”
“Fine. What about the third timeline?”
Loki paused before speaking. The pause was only a few moments, but to Kate, it felt drawn out, and she felt an electricity zap between the two of them—or at least between herself and the air around Loki. It was the well-known electricity of awkwardness as she sat picking at her nails and nibbling on the dry skin on her lower lip.
“In the third time, everything went as planned for quite some time. Eventually, your powers came into contact with a camera of some sort, and S.H.I.E.L.D. took you away. I didn’t see you, but I was told second-hand from Thor that you, or at least a woman who had been taken by S.H.I.E.L.D.’s agency because she had unstable powers, was killed.”
“How did I die?”
“I’m not sure.”
A lull of silence fell across the stuffy attic. Kate ripped the skin off of her bottom lip with her teeth and spit it somewhere, tasting the blood she had caused to well at the open wound. The metallic tang of the iron content in her blood covered her tongue. “What about the fourth timeline?”
“I told you about the room and S.H.I.E.L.D. and your powers in the fourth and the fifth timelines. In the fourth, you committed suicide because of this information, and because you could feel your powers showing. You were scared. In the fifth, you killed yourself because of, ironically, lack of trust. I was always there with you, but you thought I was hiding information from you. You were right, and you didn’t trust me. Without anyone to talk to, but with me always near you, your life became too much. You jumped off of a bridge into a highway.”
Kate’s nostrils flared. “I was that desperate?”
Loki’s eyes were half-lidded. “Apparently so.”
Kate pursed her lips. “And now you’re here?”
Loki gave a small nod and swallowed. He blinked. Kate could have sworn she saw tears.
“I’m sorry,” she began.
Loki looked at her. His green gaze pierced her, and she couldn’t break the sudden staring contest between them. “Why?”
She shrugged. “I’m sorry I can’t seem to stay alive, I guess.”
“It’s not your fault. Whenever I go back in time, you seem to be the slightest bit different, like a certain event is not able to occur, but that event is different every single timeline. Do not blame yourself for not being able to stay alive when you are not those people.”
Kate’s eyes narrowed. “But I thought I was?”
“You partially are, you partially aren’t.”
Kate opened her mouth and a noise left her throat. She didn’t know what to say, though, so she shut her mouth again.
Another silent spell fell over the two of them. Kate searched for something to focus on, other than the Asgardian sitting across from her in the attic. What the heck was she supposed to say? She swallowed awkwardly and ignored the blush that began to creep up into her entire face. “What’s my name in Norse?” It was the only thing that she could think of.
Loki had summoned another fruit in the silence and started eating it. Kate was a little surprised he hadn’t offered her some since he was eating it right in front of her face, but also knew there was no way he would ever share it. It smelled incredibly sweet, and she was surprised no bugs had flown over out of curiosity. “No matter the language, your name is Katherine.”
Kate leaned forward. Her mouth watered at the smell of the orange fruit with no peel or rind and she hoped Loki wouldn’t notice. “Yeah, but my name is Katherine, and that means pure. Is there a name that means pure?”
Loki leaned back to rest against a storage bin. He took a bite out of the fruit, almost tantalizingly slow. So, he had noticed. “Some names have meaning, but some names are combinations of name elements.”
Kate’s face was flat. “What the heck is that supposed to mean?”
Loki took another bite and finished chewing before speaking again. “There are certain name elements that mean pure, most likely, but firstly, that’s only one element of a name, and secondly, I don’t just happen to know it.”
“Well, my middle name’s Antoinette, which means flower.” Kate sat back. She wished her salivary glands would stop producing so much extra spit. It was getting annoying. “Is there a name element that means flower?”
Loki raised his eyebrows. “Pure flower?”
Kate’s face screwed up. “Yeah, Mr.—” she pulled out her phone and typed for a few minutes, looking up what ‘Loki’ meant. “Loop On A Thread, what’s it to ya?”
“Nothing, nothing.” He waved her off and finished the fruit. “Why don’t you just use that thing you call a phone and search it up yourself?” Magically, he transported another one of those fruits into his hand.
“I’m low on battery.” No, she wasn’t. “I think my charger came unplugged in the middle of the night, and I want to save it.”
Kate decided not to think about her next action's consequences as she leaped at him and tried the grab the food. Her face promptly met Loki’s open palm, and she deftly fell into his lap. “Really?” Her chin rested in the space where his crossed legs met, right near his ankles. When she opened her eyes, she realized she was mere inches from Loki’s crotch. A flush crept onto her face more fierce than the previous one.
He seemed not to notice. “I’m a god, child, what did you expect?”
Kate scrambled up, making sure to dig her elbow into a tight muscle in his thigh so his entire body convulsed. He incidentally caged her in his limbs, practically hugging her upper body.
“What in the Nine was that?” he exclaimed. Loki didn't let go of Kate, lightly squeezing her to make it hard for her to breath.
She very briefly flashed back to when he’d choked her, but she pushed the memory away. “Pressure point,” she said through the fabric of what she assumed was his shirt. “It's quite wonderful to use if I do say so myself.”
“Really?”
“Mhmm. Can you let me go now?”
“Apologize.”
Excuse me? “Why?”
“Because, you attempted to hurt me, and now you need to apologize.”
Kate hated being treated like a child, especially by this Loki person. He certainly wasn't going to get his way. “No.”
“Why not?”
“Because. Apologizing for something means that you're sorry.” She actually was sort of sorry, but that was because she didn't like being a position where Loki was cutting off some of her ability to breath.
“I can make you sorry if I so choose, child.” Loki jabbed his fingers into her ribcage and she yipped, elbowing his face in the process. It squished in the perfectly wrong way, and Kate realized she had elbowed him right in the eye.
He recoiled, letting Kate go as he held his eye. Kate scrambled away, doing a somersault into a storage bin and hitting her head. He was up and pinned her to the plywood flooring in moments by her upper arms. There was a red elbow-point-shaped mark around his eye. It looked like it might even bruise. Loki smiled. “Well, hello.”
Kate felt an odd sexual tension. She didn't like it. She didn't like it in the slightest bit.
Her heart was beating practically out of her chest and through her lower vision, she could see her shirt beating along with it. She squirmed and attempted to kick Loki, but he kneeled on her feet. His knee-guards were pointy and poked in between the bones and tendons. There was a gleam of mischief in his green eyes.
So, Loki likes to play rough, she thought, very well, then. Kate smiled the slightest bit and contorted her face to look like that of fear. She looked behind Loki and made sure to allow tears to well in her eyes. “Loki.” Her voice shook as she manually shuddered. She lowered her voice to a whisper. "There's something behind you."
Loki glanced down and Kate knew he could see her heart beating through her shirt. “Now, I highly doubt that, girl, you just want to win.”
Kate swallowed. “No, I'm serious.” She almost wanted to move closer to Loki, to prove her fear, but she was almost positive that would result in being touched. “There's a story around the neighborhood that someone died up here from a heart attack. I think I found the ghost.” None of that was true. The original owners of the house had lived here most of their lives, then sold it to Kate's family when they went to live with their son and daughter-in-law. Nobody had ever died in this house, except maybe rodents or bugs.
Kate's lip quivered. When she was truly scared, she usually cried. She hoped she could make at least a couple tears fall. “He's right behind you.”
Loki's eyes went wide, and he let go of Kate, whirling around and summoning daggers—not that they would do much against a ghost.
In her moment of freedom, Kate rolled away and planted her feet on the top step. She got up and ran down, shutting the attic door and locking it before running out of the spare room and downstairs.
She ran right into Dad, who caught her. “Are you alright, honey?”
Only then did Kate realize her feigned fear had been real. “I saw a wasp nest.”
“Again? We sprayed just a few weeks ago.”
She nodded her head and blinked back the few tears threatening to escape her lower eyelid. “I thought the nest was empty cause there weren't any wasps nearby it so I was going to push it off of the screen and into the yard, but then a bunch of wasps flew out when I touched it so I ran.”
“Did you get stung?”
“I don't think so.”
Dad rubbed her back. He knew she had anxiety, but compared to everyone else in the family, he knew the least about what to do about it. Hugs were the only thing he could give, but sometimes, that was all Kate needed.
Only then did she realize she had left her phone in the attic.
Here we go again shipmates. Natures Flame: Chapter 7
I burned in my dreams that night. I always did, but it was normally from the pain and anger remembering my past or reliving a battle. This was neither of those things. I knew it was a dream because everything seemed slightly out of focus and beyond my reach. I was there in Nissa’s bed still topless, but now also only wearing the smallest pair of panties I had ever seen. These were defiantly not something I owned. I was on my back, my shoulder was no longer in pain and Nissa’s silky sheets were twisted around one of my legs leaving the rest of me exposed. I propped myself up on my elbows looking down as Nissa crawled towards me like some predatory cat. She trailed her fingers up the inside of my uncovered leg stopping every few inches to place open mouthed kisses where her fingers had been. My back arched the closer she got to where I wanted her most. My head fell back when I felt her hands playing with the thin fabric at my hips. As she freed my of the last of my clothing Nissa placed a kiss just below my belly button. I felt her tongue make a slow circle there before she continued her descent. The flames consumed me completely then, white hot and pulsing with my rapid heartbeat. I woke in a gasping moan, my whole body was vibrating with pleasure. My brain was reeling with my remembered dream and the sensation I was feeling. Had I just taken ‘care’ of myself in a dream!? I mean had Nissa? I mean really that was all her and completely amazing. I could remember every touch, every kiss so vividly it felt real. I had startled Nissa awake with the sound, her eyes found mine and I could see she thought I had made the sound from a place of pain and not pleasure. “Spark? What is it? Tell me what you need.” That was a interesting way to phrase that I thought, barely able to contain my overly excited mind. “Its ok Nis, its not that.” I answered breathless. When I heard how I sounded I was immediately flustered. How in the hell was I going to explain this one? I sat up and adjusted the blanket to cover me a little more. Nissa sat up too waiting for me to clarify. “I had a intensely real dream.” “It must have been a good one by how much your blushing” She said with a smile. My blush deepened. “Ooo was it a sex dream?” She asked her smile turning impish. “Yes, very much so.” I answered “Mmm was I there? Will you share it with me?” She asked seductively running her finger up my thigh. I shuddered as the feeling of my dream was suddenly very real. “I, uh yes it was only you and me. It felt very real and incredibly intense.” Nissa’s hand stopped and she quirked a eyebrow at me. “Baby, how intense was it?” “How intense was last night for you?” I asked trying to tell her without actually saying the words. She stared at me her mouth open as she grasped the meaning behind my question. “Wow. That’s…Wow.” “My reaction exactly.” “Will you tell me?” She asked her eyes filled with desire. “Yes. I want you to know how you made me feel.”
I recounted everything in great detail to Nissa and waited for her reaction. The look in Nissa’s eyes was distant, like she was visualizing all I had told her. “Hello? Are you ok there?” She held up her index finger. “I’m going to need a minute here.” She replied her voice full of need. Finally after what felt like a eternity she spoke. “Well you were certainly not exaggerating when you said intense.” She sounded little jealous. “Nis what’s wrong?” “It’s silly. I’m jealous of 'dream’ me.” Laughing at herself. I couldn’t help it I laughed a little too and she playfully pushed me. I grabbed her wrist and placed a kiss in the palm of her hand closing her fingers around it. “Keep that for me, ok?” I said tenderly, hoping to make her see I only wanted her, the real her. “I promise.” Her voice caught a little but she smiled.
“What would you like to do today Baby?” She asked. “I’m not sure, my shoulder feels about the same. I should listen to Gideon for once and take it easy. Maybe just grab a few of my things so I can get cleaned up?” I said. “Why don’t we just grab all your things and bring them here?” “I don’t think I need everything just some clothes…Oh!” It took me a second to understand her meaning. “Nissa, do you want me to move in here with you?” I asked needing to make sure I understood. “Spark, you were already spending all your time here before anyway. And after last night I don’t think I could sleep without you next to me.” She reasoned. “Ok then, looks like we have a plan for the day.” I smiled.
It wasn’t that I owned very much, some clothes, armor and a few sentimental trinkets from my family. But this still was apparently too much for me to much for me to help move according to Nissa.  “Jace? Can you give me a hand for minute?” She called to Jace as we made our towards the tents the other members of The Gatewatch called home. “Nis, I do still have 'one’ good arm. We don’t need Jace’s help.” I said. “No.” She said simply. “Nissa, I will be fine.” “No, Chandra I’m not chancing it. And your stubborn chain mail covered butt wouldn’t tell me even if you were hurting.” “Lots of talk about my "ass” in chain mail lately Nis, you may be developing a fetish.“ I said snickering. But before she could shoot back Jace walked up. "What’s up Nissa?” She leveled a 'I will get you for that’ glare at me before answering him. “Can you give me a hand bringing Chandra’s things back to my tree house?” “Sure no problem, I was going to come see how you were doing later anyway.” He said looking at me. “I’m ok, it smarts a bit but I will be fine. I do think someone is taking this opportunity to show her 'bossy’ side though.” I replied giving Nissa a smile. Jace just laughed “With you, someone has to.” Nissa laughed at that and I pouted as we made our way to get my things. “Where would you like me to put this Nissa?” Jace asked when we got back to the tree house. Our tree house I thought then, that sounded nice. “Just over by the dressing table, thank you Jace.” She answered. “Oh, have you two seen Liliana lately? She is being way more distant and cranky then usual. Any ideas why?” “No idea.” Nissa and I answered in unison. Jace looked at us blankly. “Ok, ya that was weird. I’m going to go now. Take good care of her Nissa.” And made his way to the door. I walked to where Jace had left my bag looking for something to change into. “It will be nice to get cleaned up, Thank you..” Nissa was suddenly right behind me, I hadn’t heard her make a sound. I turned around surprised and Nissa stepped closer putting a hand on either side of me on the dressing table. I stepped back slightly and felt my ass bump against the table, she had me effectively trapped. Her eyes were looking down and they roamed up my body hungrily before meeting mine. I wasn’t sure if I should be concerned or very turned on. “Nis, what…” She stopped me. “You liked teasing me today, didn’t you?” She asked seductively. I could tell she wasn’t really looking for an answer so I stayed quiet. “My fetishes with this..” She moved both her hands to my thighs trailing them up tortuously slow until she was caressing my ass. “have nothing to do with chain mail I assure you.” She finished and dug in her finger tips to make her point. “Prove it.” I replied, calling her bluff and trying to keep my composure. She smiled wickedly and I swallowed hard. She brought her lips close to mine but frustratingly not kissing me. Her lips parted and licked them suggestively. Her hands moved upward kneading as they went, I closed my eyes enjoying the sensation. She pulled me closer putting her knee between my legs so I was straddling her thigh. The anticipation of not know what would happen next was sending shivers through me. Her hands stopped at the waistband of my leggings briefly before she hooked her thumbs underneath it. I started to burn then, the same small flames from my fingertips again. Nissa’s hands stilled as she fought to not be consumed by the sensation. Nissa breathed in deeply and embarrassment colored her face. “I didn’t plan on not being able to control myself.” She said sheepishly. My heart was still hammering in my chest and I was so aroused that I could have been sent over the edge with a firm hand shake. “What do you mean?” I asked, trying to hide my desperation for more. “Well after hearing about your dream this morning I couldn’t stop myself from fantasizing about you and seeing you react to my touch. It left me well., really turned on. I was finally getting myself to calm down, when you teased me about having a fetish… It was everything I could do to not pull you to me right there in front of Jace and out do 'dream’ me.” She looked at me sweetly then. “I was just going to tease you a little, I don’t ever want to push you to fast or to far. But everything I feel with you is so.. so intense I can’t seem to remember that and I lose myself in you.” She finished. “I feel it to!” I blurted. “I certainly do not feel 'not’ pushed Nis. I just keep wanting more. If I wasn’t so worried about not knowing the right things to do… or if I wasn’t hindered by my arm, I’m not sure I wouldn’t have carried you off and had my way with you already.” She kissed me at that. “I’m holding you to that. The carrying off part. As for the other I have no doubt when it feels right it will happen and it will be perfect.” She said earnestly. She studied my face for a moment to confirm everything was ok, satisfied she asked “Now before I get distracted again, I believe you wanted to get cleaned up and in your own clothes.” “Yes, I mean not that this fabric isn’t amazing but yes I would. But is there anyway you could just help me with that here? With a cloth and a basin or something? I don’t think I have the energy to go down to the stream right now. I don’t expect you give me a full scrub down or anything. Just not sure what I can reach with only one hand.” I laughed to ease my embarrassment at being unable to do it for myself. It hadn’t hit me until I had asked for her help how tired I was. With how real my dream felt last night it was like I didn’t sleep at all. “Of course I will.” She answer me with that sweet smile again.
We found something that wouldn’t be impossible to put on without aggravating my shoulder. A deep red sleeveless tunic that laced all the way up the front and some shorts that I normally wore while training hand to hand with Gideon. They didn’t cover much and fighting with him was the only time I didn’t feel exposed with them on. Nissa left to fill the basin and I sat down heavily on the chair by her dressing table. Our tree house was warm from the midday sun and my eyelids started to feel heavy as I waited for Nissa to come back. At some point I must have drifted off because I woke to Nissa’s lite touch at my temple and her calling me Baby quietly in my ear. “Hi.” I said sleepily. “How long was I out for?” “Not too long, but I did watch you for a few minuets. You looked peaceful, I didn’t want to wake you. But I didn’t want you to be sore from sleeping sitting up either.” She explained. “Thank you.” Just that little bit of rest had made me feel better or maybe it was waking up to Nissa being there that had done that. I saw that she had picked a small bunch of crimson flowers when she had filled the basin. “Those are pretty.” I gestured to the flowers. “The color made me think of you.” She removed the petals placing them in the basin with the water. “Well that explains a lot.” I remarked “Explains what?” She asked. “You always smell like wild flowers and rain to me. You must do that for yourself too.” “I do, these are my favorite.” She said. “So your saying you think of me often when your bathing?” I asked catching her off guard. “I..What was that?” I smiled teasingly at her and said “You said the color of them made you think of me and that these were your favorite to use. So how often would you say you think of me while bathing? Like only occasionally or more like always?” For just a moment she looked embarrassed before understanding the goofy grin I was giving her implied my teasing. Then her face turned seductive as she ran her finger down the side of my neck and asked “Do you want me to answer that. Truthfully?” I choked a bit catching my breath before answering. “I do not.” Then with more composure. “At least not right now. But yes I would like for you to tell me all about that at another time.” She laughed. “ I am so happy I am not a guy right now.” I joked “ Why would? Oh, I see what you mean.” “Yes I would need much looser pants around you.” We both laughed then. “Now you have to stop teasing me for a bit. I’m going to have to maintain some control of myself or I won’t be able to do this.” She said dipping the cloth in the water. I nodded agreeing with her and stood to take the robe off. “Let me help.” She untied it and helped it off my shoulders laying it on the bed. I tried to take off my leggings but wasn’t making much progress with just the one hand. “I can help with those too.” She said standing in front of me untying the laces. “Well, being unable to even undress myself sure is sexy.” I said a little frustrated. “You letting me see you vulnerable is very sexy.” She said reassuringly and helped me the rest of the way out of my leggings. I could see her surprise that there was nothing else underneath. “I don’t wear any.” I said to her unasked question about my lack of underpants. “I just never have, they seemed unnecessary. ” “Ok. I just didn’t expect it is all. I can handle.. I mean do this, help you… I’m just going to stop saying words now.” Her face reddened.  “It’s ok, your cute when your flustered.” I smiled. She calmed herself and grabbed the cloth from the basin.  She stood behind me and started to run the wet fabric across the small of my back. I hissed at the contact and she stopped. “That’s cold!” “Oh, sorry about that. "Can you give me some help with that?” She asked “That I can do.” I reached out touching the basin and used my fire to warm the water. She submerged the cloth again and said “Well that will come in handy.” She said and resumed washing my back. Nissa deftly ran the cloth over me only pausing to make sure it stayed damp and warm. 'No.’ I thought to myself do not let you mind wander on damp and warm. I stopped my dirty thoughts and concentrated on how thankful I was that she was so gentle when she came to my shoulder. She crouched running it over the backs of my legs and thighs. When she came to my backside she hesitated for the smallest of moments but continued. She placed her hand on my hipbone turning me to face her. Her eyes roamed over my body longingly and she looked flushed. I knew this couldn’t be easy for her, it wasn’t easy for me and all I had to do was stand there. “Nis I think I can do the rest, you don’t have to…” “I’m ok. Really I swear. Your just so beautiful.” She said. I looked down at myself, trying to find what she deemed beautiful. I had never been comfortable naked, besides my head the rest of my body was completely smooth. I was always told it was normal, it came with being a pyromancer. It only served to make me more self conscious, I tried very hard not to feel that way now. I looked at her not really knowing how to respond. “When I tell you you’re beautiful I don’t just mean this.” She said gesturing to my body. “I mean all of you; who you are and what you are is beautiful.” “Thank you.” I said trying to show how much I wanted to believe her. She didn’t say anything else then just continued where she left off. Her hand working across the hallow of each collar bone, over the swell of my breasts and the valley between. Across my ribs and down my stomach. When she dipped below my belly button I stilled her hand. She didn’t protest, she understood my need for a small amount of modesty.
When I was finished she helped me into my shorts and laced up my tunic. Taking my hand she led me to the bed. I laid down unwilling to fight to stay awake any longer. Nissa placed a soft kiss at my temple and whispered “Sleep Baby, I will be here when you wake up.” With that sleep consumed me completely.
