ATTENTION TRANS PEOPLE + ALLIES

this mostly applies to trans people in England, specifically trans students! If you haven't heard already, the government is proposing a new guidance for transgender students in England. The main points of this are:

Schools do NOT have a duty to allow/help kids to socially transition.

Schools MUST inform the parents/guardians if a student comes out as trans or questioning their gender. They do have to wait to make sure there's no danger to the child, but if they deem that there is no danger, they will

According to the document: "Primary school aged children should not have different pronouns to their sex-based pronouns used about them."

Schools SHOULD keep single-sex changing rooms and toilets, and you MUST use the toilets/changing rooms corresponding to your assigned sex at birth.

HOWEVER: This is NOT in place at present, please keep this in mind!!! It's currently in a place where it's taking feedback, and you can submit feedback via a government form.

hello people in england this is a reminder that there are local elections coming up soon on 4th may!!

I know councils don't feel very interesting or important compared to central government but they really do make so many decisions that impact our daily lives (also this election acts as a bit of a popularity test ahead of the next general election, with the tories currently predicted to lose a load of seats!)

put in your postcode here to check whether there's an election in your area

if you're not already registered to vote at your current address, you can register here until 17th april

you will need to take ID to be able to vote!! this is the first election requiring voter ID (more info here)
