Day 51: This younger man seen in The Family Madrigal. Personal HC: He's one of the many De Léon brothers, Estèban, whose family are vintners that run the local dance hall.
Tumblr media
Day 52: This elderly woman we see Luisa helping in Bruno's Other Gift. HC that this is Señora Iguaran, who became the Encanto’s banker and moneylender in her husband's place since he was lost during the flight from the soldiers that sacked their town.
Tumblr media
Day 53: This donkey rancher from the German comic where Mirabel and Isabela take care of the donkeys to give Luisa a break. He seems friendly enough, if a little slow on the uptake.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Day 54: This woman seen during The Family Madrigal recovering from a Mirabel Jumpscare ™.
Tumblr media

Tumblr media
Day 56: This beautiful young woman seen on the released pages of Ou Se Cache Bruno!
Tumblr media
Day 57: This woman seen behind Agustín during Antonio's Gift ceremony. Personal HC: This is Agustín's younger half sister, Soledad Rojas. 5 years younger and never married.

She was fine. Of course she was fine. What did she possibly have to complain about?
She was Isabela Madrigal with the perfect Gift, perfect hair and clothes. She had the perfect family and the perfect boyfriend.
Isabela was perfect and that made everyone happy. So why did she feel so on edge? Why couldn’t she stop her ridiculous daydreams of trying something new? She didn’t need new. The family certainly didn’t need her to act so foolish.
She’d be fine.
🌸🌵
A study in the growth of Isabela Madrigal: from roses to cacti, and all the anxiety in between.

For the alternate ending of Mamabel AU, does the village hate the Madrigals and would try to banish them except Antonio (and I believe Bruno as well?)
Hello hello!
So, for an alternative ending yes! I would say this would best fit the Evil!Antonio ending. Not only did the Madrigals get kill Mirabel, but they also caused 31 kids to lose their second mother (ONLY mother in some cases) and 2 tios to lose their favorite sobrina.
The village ADORES Mirabel in this AU--after all, "It takes a village to raise a child" right? Well this village contributed a lot in Mirabel's life, and many of them got emotionally attached to her. And once they find out she's gone?
That's not gonna fly well with them.
So, leaving only Antonio and Bruno, the village would either banish them, or severely isolate them. Banishment speaks for itself--But in the scenario where they are isolated, this would happen:
The Madrigals would live in a small, isolated house; its further than even the farthest outskirts of town. The house is just barely big enough to fit them all--- just barely. Its not sentient, so they'll have to get used to that. They also don't have their Gifts, so they'll have to get use to doing everything themselves.
The village would activately keep Antonio and Bruno away from them. Because of Mirabel, Bruno was reintroduced into the village, and he helps out whenever he can.
------
I hope this answered your ask, I love Villagers doting on Mirabel and Antonio and beige nice to Bruno.
Feel free to send in asks for Mamabel, Papatonio, Housebroken, Mermay, or any other AU you find on this blog!
I also take art suggestions for these aus, including Cocooned!
If you have an AU idea, send it it, and I'll expand on it best I can!

Top 5 Headcannons about the villagers in Encanto
I put so much thought into this because inspiration stuck.
1
When the Encanto was first founded, everyone stayed in Casita. It was the only house around after all. It was kind of a refugee situation with tents and stuff in the courtyard (the rooms were reserved for the small and the old and sick) The last villager left Casita around 7 years after the miracle was born (it takes time to build so many houses) that's why some of the very old folk will get a nostalgic little smile on their faces when they return for a party or something. To them it feels like coming home.
2
Following headcanon #1, there is a tradition in the village that every kid goes to a sleepover at Casita at least once in their lifes. The elders wanted the younger generation to experience living in a magical home at least for one night. It's their own rite of passage, their own little ceremony. They spend the first night away from home and come back in the morning and feel like adults (even though they are only around 10 years old at the time, but their parents indulge them).
3
There are two fractions in the village, kind of a "Team Edward" and "Team Jacob" situation just with Julieta and Pepa and their families. "Pepa and her kids have the best gifts!" "Julieta and her kids have the more useful gifts and Mirabel is one of us! She understands us normalos best" It can sometimes get pretty heated but they make sure to never argue in front of Juli and Pepa because they wouldn't care for talk like that at all (Dolores knows of course and she is determined for her side of the family to win this! She is not above using dirty tricks and mind games to achieve that…)
4
Believe it or not: recently there has emerged a Team Bruno fraction. It's the kids. They love the weird uncle with the rats who tells the best stories. They are gonna get him to the top! Team Bruno for the win!
5
And last but not least: no one in that village remembers what money is. Once an outsider came and tried to buy something and the villagers were like "what am I to do with these weird tokens? Don't you have a chicken to trade or something?"

Headcanon: After the mountains cracked and people from the outside word started to move into Encanto, the village was engulfed in epidemics. In closed community there was no way for infections to get in, which leaded for a very weak immunity of the villagers. People under forty most likely never even had a simple cold.
So when the gates were open? It was a catastrophe

The thing is, we don't actually know how many people live in the Encanto. We know all those people fled with Alma and Pedro and have thrived ever since. That's it.
We don't know how big Alma's home village was. We don't know how many of its inhabitants fled with her into the Encanto - maybe it was a big village but half the people ran the other way. We don't know how many people besides Pedro got killed on the way there. We don't know if the Encanto's original population was solely refugees from Alma's village or if other people from neighboring towns got caught up in it, since we don't know anything about the attack - if this was a singular raid by a few bandits or a more centralized attack by several dozen, or more, soldiers. We don't know what the birth rate in the Encanto is. We do know that people can go in and out, like Agustin who wasn't born in the Encanto, but we don't know how rare or common it is, and we don't know how many people would have left or entered. We do know that the death rate in the Encanto is presumably lower than outside, though, since I'm assuming hardly anyone dies from illness or injury thanks to Julieta.
So basically, there are totally valid grounds from imagining the population as anywhere from less than a hundred to several hundred people.

Elena meets the villagers: Javier “Javi” Rivera
Tumblr media
Javier Rivera is an old friend of the Madrigal family, being a constant patient of Julieta when he was a sickly child. So he was excited to give back to the Madrigal family with his craft. Javier is a sweet, energetic soul and a talented wood carver.
Javi belongs to @sionnaach

Days 26-38 of Encan-townies
Day 26:  This farmer who's a potential dead ringer for @redcookies-bestcookies OC Diego Orozco.
Tumblr media
Day 27: This adorable little boy from the Bruno's Other Gift book!  Pepa and Camilo aren't the only gingers in the Encanto!
Tumblr media
Day 28:  This sweet looking middle aged woman who is very concerned about the orchard crop.  No HCs for her, but it's nice to see older characters besides Alma and Sra. Guzman.
Tumblr media
Day 29:  The tired-est mamá in the Encanto and her Sarlaac child.  Considering who Camilo changes into in sequence once he convinces her to nap, I think she may be Elote Guy's (Day 23) wife.
Tumblr media
Day 30: This cute family (and the photo bombing merchant) from the Luisa Donkey comic.  No head canons today, but I love that the first dog we see in the Encanto is a bloodhound mix...like Bruno from Cinderella!
Tumblr media
Day 31:  This young woman in the lovely dress and headwrap.
Tumblr media
Day 32:  This vegetable merchant and customer. Personal HC is the merchant is my character Rodrigo Cortez, and the customer could be @seanettlles Carmen Castaño. Rodrigo is partially mute and Carmen is deaf, so I like to think she'd teach him sign for hard days.
Tumblr media
Day 33:  This big bearded man that appears briefly in a couple of scenes.  Personal HC for Emeralds is this is Julio Guzman, Mariano and Elena's older cousin and Sra. Guzman's nephew by her younger brother.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Day 34: These two adorable kids, who are dead ringers for @prophetic-hijinks fan kids Pedro and Catalina!
Tumblr media
Day 35:  This little lady who looks like she's having a great time at Antonio's Gift Ceremony
Tumblr media
Day 36:  This older man seen in Tha Family Madrigal. Person HC.  This is Campeón Garza.  A little older than the triplets, he now works in the cocoa fields and was one of Bruno's childhood bullies.
Tumblr media
Day 37: A threefur today. These two men and younger boy escaping with Alma and Pedro.  Personal HC.  The thin man is Tomás Aguilar, a lawyer, the boy is his son Rafael (See Day 9,) and the last man is his brother Ben, a judge.   Both men are on the town council.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Day 38: This vaquero from the art book.  I imagine he's the other Vasquez twin. (Encan-townies day 21) Tulio and Tomás work on Julio Guzman's horse ranch. There aren't many guns in the Encanto, but a few had to have made it in for hunting and defense.

Her triplets were watching her raptly. Julieta had a hand on her heart, a sweet smile on her face. Bruno tilted his head curiously, his smile growing as if to silently encourage Alma to continue. Pepa sniffled, a little cloud above her head, a rainbow peeking out from behind it.
“That’s so sweet,” Pepa murmured.
“It was,” Alma agreed. “It wasn’t anything dramatic or ground-shaking. It was just…” A connection. A boy and a girl, enjoying each other’s company. Something special clicking into place.
“We connected,” Alma said. “Speaking with Pedro was as easy as breathing. It felt like speaking with an old friend. As if we knew each other for a long time.”
As if a piece of her heart said, Oh, there you are. I’ve been looking all over for you.
*
Alma and the triplets discuss Pedro. Isabela works on her new dress as storm clouds herald the impending arrival of newcomers...

Resident evil 8 Au where Mother Miranda kidnapped Mirabel when she was like 8 or so after watching her family from a distance for a while she infects Mirabel with the black mold instead of the cadou so she is more on power level with Mother Miranda and doesn't have an obvious mutation kinda like Karl. Like Karl she hates mother Miranda but does as she says because she isn't as powerful as her and won't be able to beat her. She doesn't see her family again until they are kidnapped by mother Miranda when she's around 15 maybe 16 they are a gift to her from mother Miranda for her "devotion and hard work". she is the kindest most benevolent of the Lords actually taking care of the people in her territory and trying her best not to be violent like the rest of them though she will kill anyone who tries to hurt her family.
RESIDENT EVIL I LOVE RESIDENT EVIL LETS GOOOOOO TRCTVHUVRDT I’M SO EXCITED
I think that Mother Miranda using direct Cadou makes sense. She actually probably wanted to use her as a vessel. But much like Heisenberg, she despises Miranda. She's just better at not showing it. Unlike the others, like you said, she doesn't have any inheritly noticeable mutations (Lady D, too tall, Donna her eye, Moreau...yeah.)
I think Mother Miranda's favorite in this AU is Mirabel, rather than Karl. I mean obviously. Karl actually doesn't like Mirabel (he doesn't hate her tho), mostly because she's quiet about Mother Miranda and doesn't want to take her on. She knows better. Lady D actually sort of likes her, and treats her with some respect, because Mirabel treats her with respect. Moreau tries to manipulate Mirabel, but as she gets older, she stops falling for it. Donna and her are somewhat?? On a friendly basis, she makes new dresses for her dolls.
Mirabel is freaked out by the big ass baby in the basement. It literally terrifies her 😭😭
Tumblr media
I think Mirabel does have a mutation, she just hides it under clothes. I was thinking her power has something to do with bugs, mostly moths, though she likes butterflies and has a butterfly house. Ironically, she had wings, but they're folded under her dress, and they're sort of weak, so she can't fly for too long. Her clothes are supposed to sort of look like a beetle or a ladybugs wings. But she has dragonfly wings. The family dresses up similar to the bug Mirabel associates them with.
Many people in her part of village actually like her. They don't mind her among the lords. Other people from the other villages likes when she visits, and give her (somewhat crude and often disgusting,) gifts. Mirabel hides survivors in the deeper part of the village. She's not supposed to, but she helps them escape. Miranda knows, but doesn't really stop her because she's the favorite. Mirabel sometimes refers to her part of the village as "her own little Encanto". She hates the Black Mold and refuses to acknowledge it as any kind of "god", instead just out right calling it mold. A parasite.
Tumblr media
Mirabel deeply misses her family, but she never brings it up to Mother Miranda. Miranda knows, once again, but doesn't act on it. She wanted to keep it a surprise when the Madrigal family, absolutely terrified and traumatized, were brought to her doorstep. No one knows what happened to the (original) Encanto Village, but...you can guess. Mirabel house, which is pretty much a replica of Casita, is alive. Granted, it's a little twisted, and dark and...gloomy. But it's alive. Miranda does give her the candle (she swiped it, because magic), after learning that she has no use for it. Whether the Madrigals have their gifts is up to debate. Mirabel does infect them with black mold. Only a small amount. Like Ethan, they can keep regenerating, or at the very least don't take much damage and repair wounds easily. They essentially can't die, much like her/Ethan. Miranda let's her do it, because Lady D did the same thing with her "daughters", so why can't she? Though...it did sort of mess with their gifts. Biological black mold and magic surprisingly mixed and changed somethings.
Come Ethan (because Mirabel was likely taken in the 1940s), she does help him. The people in her territory don't really like Ethan, I mean they're brainwashed, but they don't attack him unless he attacks them. Ethan is very relieved to learn that Mirabel is kind enough to let him stay in her Casita as a safehouse of sorts. She also just outright gives him her piece of Rose (much to Miranda's dismay). Mirabel, though not have the torso, was give the heart of Rose.
After the events of the game, the BSAA finds out about Mirabel and her family. They are relocated back to Colombia, and out under a protection program like Rosemary.

So it's been years and I still think the villagers/townspeople in Encanto suck l, particularly for their treatment of Mirabel, Bruno and, possibly most of all, Luisa. I also think they contributed to the pressure Isabela felt to be perfect. Also they used Camilo to looka fter their kids. I really hope that was more of a he's a teenager now since some teenagers do babysit but even then I can imagine they used Camilo for ridiculous things. Also I have a vendetta against donkey guy because why was Luisa the one getting his donkeys back when they escaped? This happened multiple times since he says the donkeys got out again. So your lazy and neglectful of your donkeys so they can escape multiple times, and when you do you push the responsibility onto Luisa to get them back. No. I'm sorry this family gets taken advantage of so much. And then they have the gall to get annoyed and scared of Bruno when they, presumably, asked him what their future was and simply didn't like what they were told. Also I feel like some of those futures were preventable and they simply didn't. So yeah. Also "he told me my fish would die the next day dead". Why was this surprising? Fish have short lifespans, don't they? Also, yeah your fish will die. All animals die. Why do you act like this is surprising or wouldn't have happened if Bruno didn't say it. I actually think all these people are so dumb because they've gotten used to people doing stuff for them. But they still suck for taking advantage of teenagers and children and pushing their responsibilities onto them.
