Best of 2022 Music #1: Encanto Cast “We Don’t Talk About Bruno”

And our last entry gave us the catchiest buzz phrase of the year.

With Encantos signature song the Madrigal family gives us all the reasons within the mindset of the family’s black sheep Bruno.

And each gets their say.

All the fitting when the truth comes out later leading to well earned vindication.

This was everywhere for a good 3 months.

Until it’s Oscar performance was kiboshed (though thankfully 😅 overshadowed)

But this still earned the title of the years best song.

Twitter and Tumblr about completely changing Ariel's ethnia and race in the live action adaptation : "die mad, fiction is fiction, and her origins don't matter in the storyline anyway, who cares where Ariel is from as long as she sings ? Anyone arguing is a racist because life is literally black and white and so are opinions on adaptations, color washing doesn't exist you're just a bigot"

Twitter and Tumblr now that Disney casted an actress who is more native Hawaiian than they ever will be but is not "dark enough" for playing Nani therefore "not a real Hawaiian and white washing" despite she is not white

An absolutely STACKED musical theatre cast!!!! Like I was like WHERE do you get the BUDGET for all these extremely impressive gets???

Bezos, man.

But also most Broadway performers are very firmly middle class (if that) while on contract, and while off contract struggle to make ends meet, so I imagine a lot of the more purely Broadway folks were cheaper than you’d think.

#broadway #finances #I know Broadway salaries seem really great #but Broadway actors have to live a commutable distance to nyc #pay their union dues #pay their agent and manager #pay to keep up their training #put away to get them to their next contract #and also eat/live/etc in nyc #it’s expensive as fuck to be a Broadway performer #and the wages do not match comparable performers at the top of their field #or come even close #like honestly the biggest get was probably Stephanie Beatriz #bc of b99 and Encanto #Jeremy Jordan is huge in the Bway community but outside of that people know him bc of supergirl if they know him at all #and that’s what I imagine to be the case for most of the cast #They may be very popular in the Broadway community #But they’re not getting paid the big bucks for a mainstream target audience

I don't know who runs the casting department over at WBD, but I would be eternally grateful to them if they ever decide to cast John C. Reilly (”Wreck-It Ralph”, “Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job”) and Stephanie Beatriz (”Brooklyn 99″, “Encanto”) as Harvey Bullock and Renee Montoya.

Pepa hauled her hermana between two houses, ignoring her protests, and hissed, “Something is wrong with Bruno. I know- I know!” she slapped her hand over Julieta’s mouth. She hadn’t slept at all for nerves before Antonio’s ceremony, then spent half the next night worrying about cracks, then searched all last night for Mirabel. Her last shred of levelheadedness blew out the window two days ago, and Bruno vomiting in the street hadn’t helped. “You’re going to say, ‘he has a concussion,’ or ‘Pepa, it’s been ten years, people change,’ or ‘you just forgot how weird he is’ but something is wrong with him-”

Arms crossed over her chest, Julieta licked Pepa’s palm, because she was terrible. “No, something is definitely wrong with Bruno,” Julieta agreed, while Pepa scrubbed her hand clean on her dress. “Do you think it’s his hearing?”

While Bruno and Alma are in the church, several other Madrigals do some digging.

And here we see Lily once more, trying to tie anything people call her out for, into, "Its just because I insulted their favorite media-" Because lord knows, that's a favorite tactic of hers to pull, since she can just act like its upset fans then, though this time with the addition of her latest fanfiction: everyone is suddenly incapable of just being against Lily on their own after reading everything about what she's done and such and instead, they all somehow kids pulled into stuff by Brittany and Courtney... ...It probably makes more sense in Lily's head then it does in reality.

Though I am curious how the fuck Percy Jackson got pulled into this, since last I checked, Lily not liking Percy Jackson wasn't really that huge of a deal (it's really not that surprising Lily dubs a white male led book series she hasn't even read the first book off, as bad), given she doesn't like a-lot of shit really for so many varying reasons (hasn't checked it out but hates it anyway, plot/lore/continuity, it did a crime only Lily considers a crime, etc) and therefore, it just joined the pile of Lily's bad media takes and was called a day. Can only assume Lily's been seeing Percy Jackson show gifs all over the place and is annoyed by it, hence throwing it into her latest rambling attempts to act like anyone who calls her out is a bad guy.
