This is my favourite one yet!! I know I said that on my last painting of Gem and her massive animal companion but it’s true! This painting turned out exactly how I imagined in very little time, I’m so happy with it 😄💚

Sculpture of Apollo Citaredo in Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Napoli
Originally, the sculpture from the 2th century depicted the city of Rome as a goddess. In the nineteenth century it was restored as Apollo Citaredo. The statue is part of the Farnese Collection.

I don't have a logical reason for it but the quotes "Tell the emperor that my hall has fallen. Apollo no longer has his house, nor his mantic bay, nor his prophetic spring; the water has gone quite." And "My battery is low and it's getting dark" have the same energy to them. Perhaps on occasion, the machine and divine can speak the same poetry.

I feel like the general consensus is that Nico has abandonment issues/fear of abandonment and its great - I vibe with it. As normal, I'm not here to talk about him.
I present the brain food of Will with a fear of abandonment. It's not obvious, like so many of his other fears and "darker" emotions, so he'll laugh off any jabs Austin or Kayla may make at bringing awareness to it around Nico or Chiron.
He went to camp young as it was due to the whole Stymphalian birds incident, and then when his mother went on tour so he became a year-rounder. He was more or less raised by Lee Fletcher, Michael Yew, and his other unnamed older siblings. Not to mention, it's also possible he had unnamed younger siblings before the Battle of Manhattan.
While obviously it wasn't their faults, Will lost nearly all of his siblings. He lost all of his older siblings who had raised him and taken care of him.

Statue of Apollo 'Lizard Killer' Found at Etruscan and Roman Spa
Archaeologists have found a marble statue of Apollo Sauroctonos, also known as the “Lizard Killer”, during excavations of an Etruscan and Roman spa at San Casciano dei Bagni in Tuscany.
The spa is fed by geothermal springs, which the Etruscans used to supply water at a mean temperature of 42 °C (108 °F) to the complex of Balnea Clusinae.
According to legend, the site was founded by Porsenna, an Etruscan king of Chiusi, although archaeologists suggest that the complex was built by the Etruscans in the third century BC.
During the Roman period, the spa became a popular attraction for the therapeutic benefits, with notable figures such as Caesar Augustus being a frequent visitor.

Archaeologists have found fragments of a life-sized Apollo Sauroctonos statue on the edge of the Great Bath, which are Roman copies of a bronze statue created by the Greek sculptor Praxiteles, the most renowned of the Attica sculptors of the 4th century BC.
Example copies generally date from the 1st to 2nd century AD and depict Apollo in his youth about to catch a lizard climbing up a tree. The Roman poet, Martial, wrote an epigram about the Apollo Sauroctonos statues “Spare the lizard, treacherous boy, creeping toward you; it desires to perish by your hands.”

Apollo, revered as the deity associated with healing and ailments, received votive offerings from petitioners seeking remedies for their afflictions. Additionally, the depiction of Apollo hunting a lizard can be associated with ophthalmology, as lizards were considered a key ingredient for curing eye complaints.
Excavations also uncovered a travertine votive altar with a bilingual inscription in Latin and Etruscan from the 1st century AD, indicating the ongoing influence of Etruscan culture well into the Roman Imperial Era.

• Pearl, Titled Aeolus, the whimsical Ruler of the Winds: As friendly as she is to visitors, she does have a rather hard time resisting causing some trouble now and then.
• Fwhip, the unpredictable Messenger God of travel, luck, & speed: He's considered unpredictable at best and borderline maniacal at worst. He falls far past the line of a "trouble-maker" but can't help himself in becoming a close companion of Sausage's (at least, as "close" as the Gods can be considered).
• Gemini, the dangerous & protective Goddess & Sorceress: She's shrouded in warnings of her power & her silver-tongue. While stories will call her a "Witch" or "Temptress," she considers herself a guardian who who will do whatever it takes to protect the one's she loves.
•[Gods of "The God Games"]•
-> when they're properly & fully revealed in the musical, I'll be able to give proper descriptions/character to them all. These are more-or-less base concepts of them <-
Tumblr media Tumblr media
• Oli, the God of the Sun, music, & archery
• Pixl, the God of the Forge, fire, & craft
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
• Lady Katherine, the righteous Goddess of Love, beauty, & war
• Shrub, the combative God of War & bravery
• Joey, the spiteful God of marriage & family
Round 2 of the characters complied!
I look forward to fleshing out some of these characters more as they're revealed but, as of now, these are gonna be the concepts for The God.
While it doesn't fully effect how the characters are going to be portrayed, I'm more than open to getting information or stories on the Greek Gods equivalents of these characters.
I'm not fully versed in the stories & representations of the Gods aside from some Google searches now and the. I also love learning mythology and all that comes with it so. Feel free lmao.
I do believe there will be One more character post after this before i start working on penning & story-line art.
In the meantime, feel free to continue asking whatever your hearts desire.
Do enjoy your time here.

OKAY so I read "The Caesars" by emperor Julian and y'all, if you love Lucian's satires this is absolutely for you.
Here are some of my favorite parts from it:
A quick summary: Romulus (who has now attained the status of a god, like Heracles) once hosted a Saturnalia and invited the Greek gods and the Roman emperors to the banquet. A contest between the Roman emperors ensued, with Alexander the Great called in as an extra contestant upon Heracles' request.
Silenus is the star of the show, doing most of the jesting. But I really like the way his bond with Dionysus is highlighted
Tumblr media
And it's no joke, he really does roast these emperors till they're sizzling lol starting with Julius Caesar himself:
Tumblr media
Next comes Augustus Octavius, whose entry is so pretentious and pompous that it becomes repulsive
Tumblr media
Apollo gets a bit defensive over his "nursling" (a nod to the belief that Octavius was actually Apollo's son) and goes *insert Barbie meme "it's really not that bad! it just needs a little... shaping. To the salon!!"* ft Zenon the Philosopher who casts some spells of philosophy to make Octavius less obnoxious
Tumblr media
And it works because Octavius is mostly humble and well mannered for the rest of the day lol
Heracles grabs this opportunity to fanboy over Alexander the great.
Tumblr media
Like, "my beloved Alexander"?? It's cute when the gods gush over their mortal descendants.
Now, a shoutout to the emperors who didn't even get a chance to sit in the assembly because they were the worst of the lot apparently. We have:
Caligula, so terrible that the gods didn't wanna even look at him and he straight away was sent to Tartarus
Tumblr media
Nero, who tried to be an Apollo wannabe and promptly got taken to the underworld
Tumblr media
Commodus, whom Silenus didn't even bother to roast (and he tripped and fell anyway, what a loser)
Tumblr media
There are more but these were the funniest
Anyway, the gods decide on how to choose the best amongst the Emperors. Apollo and Hermes have differing opinions on this, but Zeus decides to entertain the suggestions of both of his sons :3 (finally, one instance where he treats Apollo and Hermes equally)
Tumblr media
All the emperors talk about their achievements first, then Hermes cross examines them to see if their motives were worthy enough and oh boy, it does not go well for Alexander who is brought to the verge of tears by Dionysus lmaooo
Tumblr media
Anyway, in the end the gods vote and Emperor Marcus Aurelius wins the contest. But after that, Zeus asks each emperor to choose a god to spend the rest of their evening with
Tumblr media
Ares and Aphrodite kind of just adopt Caesar LOL and yes, Cronus is present, sitting beside Zeus, with Rhea and Hera also sitting with them. He is the one who nominates Marcus Aurelius.
but here's the most crack part of this whole thing:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like who invited Jesus bro skdjsndn 😭
Anyway, the story ends with Hermes giving some generic advice to the author, Emperor Julian and ending the story. Also, Julian lets us know that this whole story was told to him by none other than Hermes himself, and gives a disclaimer that he doesn't know if it's is true or just a lie fabricated by Hermes, or a mixture of both LMAO
Here's the link PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE THING
