Electric Dragon 80.000V (Ishii Gakuryu, 2001)
Underwhelming. Possibly due to me having to watch it with the volume low, but i think of the movies of this stripe that overwhelm - that truly assault through vision, sound and texture - and this for the most part just felt like some old rocker recapitulation with all of the signs and screaming to little effect.

Preview: Electric Dragon 80000v (Bluray)
As a child, Dragon Eye Morrison undergoes electro-shock treatment for his aggressive behavior. The levels of sheer energy absorbed by his body over the years allow him to channel and conduct electricity. Now an adult, Morrison works in the city as a reptile investigator and has learned to channel his rage through the performance of aggressive guitar-based noise. Meanwhile, Thunderbolt Buddha, a…

apparently there are levels to the bans. when it goes beyond individual posts there’s being no-faced, to being terminated, but there’s the level beyond where you’re deemed persona non grata and all your posts are hidden or in the most extreme case wiped off the face of the site entirely.

Saw your posts about EEAAO and I was curious - what are some of your favorite examples of films that challenged you? I love movies and I like knowing about films that other people like as well. Thank you!
lol i had to sit and really think about this one. like, what did it mean for a film to challenge me (positive) and which were the most impactful. im not like some super film buff so all of this is pretty mainstream. like "bicycle thieves" is on every single top 100/top 50/top 10/top 5 greatest films ever lists but it deserves to be there. it really frustrates and vexes its audience (me) intentionally and has absolutely no pretensions. its the kind of movie that opens your third eye as to what the medium of storytelling can do to a human being lol. auugghh its like this casual cruelty is happening to me!!! i hate this!! im experiencing empathy and it hurts!! "z", the greek political nightmare drama, does the same thing and then hits you with one last punch at the epilogue. augh the suffering of others for nothing!!
i think if a movie 1. gets me in an argument with myself 2.challenges a preconceived notion/expectation i have or 3. hits me with a strong emotional response, it "got me good", so to speak. but also theres the movies that are more artsy weird that challenge the idea of what a movie is supposed to do. a friend once introduced me to "electric dragon 80000v" and i still think about it constantly. and the movie is like "moral: there was an electric man"
